PAUCH JR. TAKES THE OPENING ROUND OF THE MAY MODIFIED MADNESS SERIES AT NEW EGYPT SPEEDWAY
New Egypt, NJ (May 29, 2016) – On Military Appreciation Night at New Egypt Speedway, Billy Pauch, Jr. took the opening round of the May Modified Madness Series by winning the 30-lap 358 Modified feature. Brandon Grosso bested the field in the Sportsman feature. Bobby Butler was the victor in the Burlington County Overhead Door NEWS Sprints main event while Chris Allen took top honors in the TSRS Sprint Car feature.
Polesitter PJ Oliver grabbed the lead as the 30-lap Modified feature got underway with Danny Bouc and Andrew Bohn next in line. With four circuits completed, Bouc was closing in on the leader when a yellow flag was displayed for a multi-car tangle in turn one. During this caution period, Bouc headed to the pits with a broken right rear shock. When action got underway, Bohn worked his way past Oliver to become the new leader. Following a fifth lap multi-car accident, Ryan Godown, who started the race in fifteenth place, motored into second behind Bohn with Willie Osmun taking third and Billy Pauch, Jr. advancing to fourth. Over the next few laps, two positional duels began to develop on the track as Godown pressured Bohn for first and Pauch, Jr. pressed Osmun for third. On the eleventh lap, Pauch, Jr. moved by Osmun and into third place. One revolution later, Godown slipped underneath Bohn coming out of the fourth turn to gain the lead. Following a fourteenth circuit caution for a slowing Chris Grbac, Pauch, Jr. sped past Bohn for second with Godown still in charge. With ten laps remaining, Pauch, Jr. was getting closer to the leader with Osmun now in third. On the twenty-first circuit, Doug Ostwald made contact with the outside wall in turn two and the caution lights were illuminated. When green flag racing resumed, Pauch, Jr. swept by Godown for the lead and Osmun followed him to take over second as Godown’s car began to develop handling issues. As Godown continued to lose positions in the final laps, Pauch, Jr. remained in front for the remainder of the contest to collect his first 358 Modified feature victory of the season. Osmun came home in second place. Bohn’s strong run resulted in a third place finish. John McClelland came from thirteenth place on the starting grid to complete the race in fourth. Fifth place was taken by Bryan Kuhl. The Modified heat races were taken by PJ Oliver, Danny Bouc and Willie Osmun. The consolation event was won by Steve Davis.
After motoring by Dakota Kessler on the eleventh tour, Brandon Grosso would lead the remaining circuits to win the 20-lap Sportsman contest. The early pacesetter, Joe Dill, retired from the event during a caution period after leading the opening five laps. Following Dill’s withdrawal, Kessler inherited the top running position and remained there until the twelfth place starting Grosso assumed command. Kessler completed the race in second. JR Fulper, Bill Liedtka and Ryan Simmons rounded out the top five. Brandon Grosso, JR Fulper and Pat Wall captured victories in the Sportsman qualifying races. Cale Ross took the checkered flag in the consolation contest.
Following his overtaking of Rich Mellor on the third tour, Bobby Butler out raced his foes the rest of the way to collect the win in the 20-lap main event for the Burlington County Overhead Door NEWS Sprints. Mellor held off a hard charging Brian Spencer to finish in second. With Spencer taking third, Wayne Weaver came home in fourth. Fifth place went to Tom Fraschetta, who was making his first start in the class. Butler was the heat race winner in the Burlington County Overhead Door NEWS Sprints division.
By knifing his way through heavy lap traffic around the midway point, Chris Allen was able to maintain his start to finish lead to capture the 20-lap TSRS Sprint Car feature. Mark Bitner followed Allen across the finish line to take second place. Tim Tanner, Kevin Nagy and Mike Haggenbottom completed the top five. TSRS Sprint Car qualifying races went to Stefanie Palmai, Eddie Wagner and Jeff Geiges.

Pittman Rallies for Fourth Consecutive Win at New Egypt
Charges from third starting spot to claim Jersey Outlaw Classic

9 Daryn Pittman (WoS photo)
NEW EGYPT, N.J. - May 24, 2016 - It wasn't easy, but 2013 World of Outlaws Craftsman® Sprint Car Series champion Daryn Pittman managed to charge his way from the third starting position to claim his fourth Jersey Outlaw Classic win in-a-row on Tuesday night at New Egypt (N.J.) Speedway.
Pittman, who won this event in 2013, '14 and '15, secured his fourth win of the season and first since USA Raceway in Tucson, Ariz. on April 18.
"I've been really frustrated with myself with how many front-row starts I've had this year and as few wins," Pittman said. "I got up this morning and thought 'Man, third is where I want to start' - I just had that feeling this morning that if I start third I was going to win.
"Things went our way and we ended up starting third."
Pittman had to work around race-long leader Greg Hodnett, who had dominated the feature and the preliminary races up to that point.
"It was a little bit disappointing seeing the late race caution," Hodnett said. "[Pittman] was definitely better than us in traffic, and I was kind of glued to the bottom in turn one and two and he motored around the top.
"I didn't go up there until he passed and then I realized there was a whole other track to run on. fWe kind of caught him again in traffic and passed a couple lapped cars, but we just needed to keep running. He was definaetely the faster car, we just needed him to slow down a little bit through some lapped traffic."
At the start of the night, Hodnett, in the Lelands.com/Eagle Steel No. 27, was the first car out for qualifying and established the quickest lap of the night at 13.926 seconds.
Hodnett continued his early-night dominance by leading every lap of his heat race and advancing to the dash. As if he needed it, Hodnett then received a lucky invert draw of zero, keeping him on the pole-position for the six-lap race.
The Pennsylvania driver kept his clean sweep of the events going by leading every lap and winning the dash to place himself on the pole for the 30-lap feature.
When the green flag dropped, Hodnett again appeared to be the driver to beat, as he easily controlled the top spot and pulled away from his competition to start the race.
As the race marched on, Pittman, in the Great Clips/Sage Fruit No. 9, had trouble advancing from his third-starting position. When the leaders hit lapped traffic around lap 10, Pittman began his charge.
Pittman's first victim was second-place starter Mark Smith in the Mach 1 Chassis No. M1. Smith, who was making his first start with the Outlaws in 2016, fell to the third position with points-leader Brad Sweet close behind him.
It wasn't long before Pittman reeled in the leader and was challenging for the lead near the halfway point in the race. With 14-laps remaining, Pittman rocketed around Hodnett for the lead.
Pittman dictated the top spot for the remainder of the race, as he held off Hodnett and Smith on a late-race caution with just four laps left, to capture the checkered flag at New Egypt for the fourth year in-a-row.
"We haven't been struggling by any means, but we needed a win," Pittman said. "This really makes me feel good, and makes them feel good going back home to Charlotte this week. We've had some pretty bad finishes but hopefully this can erase that and we can get on a better streak of just running up front.
"I felt like I was struggling [later in the race]...Those last four laps, I didn't feel like I made any of them very good, so I wasn't breathing good until I saw them throw the checkered."
Hodnett held onto the runner-up position, as he finished in the second position for the second time in the four days after finishing behind Lance Dewease at Williams Grove Speedway on May, 20.
"It might be an advantage to see what I am doing...I think it's an advantage in one way, but for us to have the lead and give it away, it's very disappointing. We did the same thing Friday [at Williams Grove Speedway] to Lance [Dewease].
In his first race with the Outlaws in 2016, Smith showed speed all night, as he qualified second, won his heat race, finished second in the dash and finished on the podium in the feature.
"I was hoping to come down here and just get a top five, but we got a top three and we're up here on the podium." Smith said. "I kept trying different lanes to try and make some time up on Greg [Hodnett], then I heard somebody, that ended up being Daryn.
"He was a lot better than us and drove by us. We were about the same speed as Greg, but we just couldn't go through lapped traffic like Daryn could."
The World of Outlaws Craftsman® Sprint Car Series continues their southern migration as the series heads to The Dirt Track at Charlotte for the Circle K/NOS Energy Drink Outlaw Showdown on Friday, May 27. PAUCH SR. HOLDS OFF HIS SON TO TAKE NEW EGYPT SPEEDWAY’S 358 MODIFIED FEATURE
New Egypt, NJ (April 24, 2016) – On Ugly Sweater Night, Billy Pauch, Sr. held off his son to take the 358 Modified feature at New Egypt Speedway. Billy Osmun won the Crate feature and Mark Bitner was the victor in the TSRS Sprint Car main event. The Lyons Constructions/Metal Fab Rookie races were won by Cale Ross and Kyle Kania.
Polesitter Mike Butler grabbed the lead at the start of the 30-lap 358 Modified feature with fourth place starting Billy Pauch, Sr. in tow. With six circuits completed, the top two of Butler and Pauch, Sr. were in close quarters with DJ Ruppert, Tad Cox and fourteenth place starting Ryan Godown next in line. After a trio of cautions and restarts on the ninth tour, Butler remained on top with Pauch, Sr., Ruppert, Godown and sixteenth place starting Billy Pauch, Jr giving chase. On lap 11, Pauch, Sr. used the inside groove and rocketed past Butler for the top running spot. At the halfway point, Pauch, Sr. was beginning to distance himself from the second place running Butler and his son who had moved into third place on lap 13. Pauch, Jr. began to close in on Butler and eventually gained the runner-up spot with nine revolutions remaining. With five laps to go, the elder Pauch began to encounter traffic which increased as the race entered the final circuits. As the white flag was displayed, the younger Pauch had driven to the bumper of his father but Pauch, Sr. held on as the checkered flag waved. The victory by Pauch, Sr. was his 125th Modified win at New Egypt Speedway. Pauch, Jr. claimed the runner-up spot. Butler’s strong run resulted in a third place finish. Godown fought back a final lap charge from eighteenth place starting Jimmy Horton to finish fourth. Mike Butler, PJ Oliver, and Ryan Godown won the 358 Modified heat races.
Billy Osmun survived a final circuit restart to win the 20-lap Crate feature. Jason Dunn led the opening four tours before Tom Tanner gained the point. With six laps to go, Osmun worked his way around Tanner for the lead and remained on top for the remaining distance. With Tanner taking second, Brandon Grosso came home in third. Fourth went to Connor King and Dunn completed the race in fifth. The Crate heat races went to Tom Tanner, Billy Osmun, and Brandon Grosso. Aaron Weaver took top honors in the consolation race.
In the 20-lap TSRS Sprint Car main event, Mark Bitner endured a final lap restart to gain the win. Although he led every tour, Bitner fought back several challenges in the entertaining contest from Adam Carberry and Kevin Nagy to collect his fifth career 305 Sprint Car victory at New Egypt Speedway. Nagy, who diced his way towards the front after starting the race in eleventh place, finished in the runner-up spot. Carberry and Jeff Geiges swapped third place on the last tour with Carberry taking the position. With Geiges finishing fourth, Tim Tanner, Jr. took fifth place. The victors in the TSRS Sprint Car qualifying events were Jeff Geiges, Adam Carberry, and Tim Tanner, Jr.
In the first 8-lap Lyons Constructions/Metal Fab Rookie race, fifth place starting Cale Ross took the lead from Doug Twaits on the second circuit and sped away from the field to take the checkered flag. The victory was Ross’s second of the season. Kyle Kania finished in second place. Johnny Bangs, Alonzo Morales, and Doug Twaits rounded out the top five.
The second 8-lap Lyons Constructions/Metal Fab Rookie race saw Kyle Kania enter the winner’s circle. Kania took the lead from Doug Twaits on lap 2 and held off John Bangs for the win. With Bangs taking second, Cale Ross took third. Alonzo Morales and Twaits completed the top five.
On Saturday, April 30, Baseball Night takes center stage with the Burlington County Overhead Door NEWS Sprints, Sportsman, Crates, and Street Stocks on the docket. FRIESEN HEATS UP TO WIN MARCH MADNESS MELTDOWN AT NEW EGYPT SPEEDWAY
New Egypt, NJ (March 19, 2016) – At New Egypt Speedway’s March Madness Meltdown, Stewart Friesen took the victory in the fifty lap Modified feature while Bob Lineman, Jr. captured the checkered flag in the thirty lap Sportsman main event.
Starting from the pole, Friesen grabbed the lead as the extra distance event began for the Modifieds with Duane Howard, Billy Pauch, Sr., Danny Creeden and Jeff Strunk in tow. Just after the first circuit of fifty was completed, the caution flag appeared for a multi-car tangle in turn one. When action resumed to start a long period of green flag facing, Friesen remained in command with Howard in second and Ryan Godown advancing three positions into third place. Although in front, Friesen’s first challenge for the lead came on the eleventh lap as Howard unsuccessfully tried an inside move for the top running position. With sixteen circuits recorded, the top two of Friesen and Howard were knifing their way through traffic with Howard in close pursuit of Friesen. Behind the front runners, a heated battle for fourth place was in progress between Pauch, Sr. and Strunk. By the twenty-first circuit, Strunk had gained the spot. Billy Pauch, Jr., who had started the event in nineteenth, was continuing his movement forward and took fourth place from Strunk on lap twenty three. As the event entered the second half, Friesen withstood two strong challenges from Howard for the lead on laps twenty-seven and thirty-two with Godown and Pauch, Jr. next in line. A slowing Pauch, Sr. brought out the second yellow flag of the feature on the thirty-seventh lap. Friesen kept his lead as the race restarted with Howard still in second and Pauch, Jr. slipping by Godown for third. A right rear flat on Mike Franz’s ride caused the yellow lights to illuminate the immaculate racing surface with ten laps remaining. On the ensuing restart, Friesen maintained his lead with Pauch, Jr. getting by Howard for second. As the race was entering the final five tours, Friesen was fending off Pauch, Jr. when a spin by John Keller brought out the yellow flag. Green flag action returned for two laps before a final caution period took place for debris on the race track. When racing got back underway, Friesen held off Pauch, Jr. to claim the first place prize of $5000. With Pauch, Jr. taking second, Howard came home in third. Fourth place went to Godown. Tyler Dippel’s consistent run resulted in a fifth place finish. Dom Buffalino, Dippel, and Pauch, Sr. were victors in the heat races for the Modifieds. The consolation contest was taken by Pauch, Jr.
In the Sportsman feature, Bob Lineman took the lead from Brandon Grosso on the seventh circuit of thirty and went unchallenged the remaining distance to take home the $1,000 first place check. Ryan Grim took the runner-up position with John Aumick finishing in third. Grosso and JR Fulper completed the top five. The Sportsman qualifying events went to Grosso and Fulper.
On Saturday, March 26 at New Egypt Speedway, an open practice session for all divisions will take place. The pit gates will open at 10:00 a.m. with practice slated to start at noon. An Easter Egg Hunt will occur in the picnic area for children at 1:00 p.m. Grandstand admission is free for all. The regular season of racing gets underway on Saturday, April 2 with 358 Modifieds, Sportsman, NEWS Wingless Sprints, and Street Stocks on the agenda. Pit gates will open at 2:00 p.m. on opening night with grandstand turnstiles unlocking at 4:00 p.m. Hot laps crank up at 5:15 with the first race starting at 6:00 p.m.
