MCCARTHY MAGNIFICENT IN FIRST-CAREER WIN AT VALLEY
GRAIN VALLEY, MO. (July 13, 2019) - Winning his first-career POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League feature on Saturday night at Valley Speedway, Ace McCarthy of Tahlequah, Okla. was undeniable in the 30-lap main event. Driving around his teammate, Jake Neuman, on the second circuit, McCarthy then fended off several attacks from young Holley Hollan as he held on for an impressive first-career triumph aboard the Jim Neuman Racing, Two-Eight Drilling, BOSS/SR-11 No. 28.
Sharing PAC Racing Springs High Point Men honors, the Jim Neuman Racing duo of Jake Neuman and Ace McCarthy brought the feature field to life as the green flag dropped. Neuman of New Berlin, Ill., who won Friday's feature, led the opening circuit aboard his Brandt, BOSS/SR-11 No. 3N by a nail-biting 0.008 seconds over McCarthy at the line.
Making his move on Neuman the next time by, McCarthy tossed a slider towards his teammate and received one right back at him in turn three. However, McCarthy was able to cross him up and dive down low to lead the second circuit and gain command of the top spot.
A pair of cautions bunched the field up and put a spotlight on Holley Hollan of Broken Arrow, Okla., as the 17-year old young woman maneuvered her Keith Kunz Motorsports, SIRIUS XM, Bullet/Toyota No. 67 into the second spot from seventh. Restarting with eight laps down, Hollan snuck below McCarthy and made it a side-by-side affair at the stripe, but McCarthy's momentum up top was too strong and he held on.
Coming by on lap 11, Hollan perfected the bottom side of turns three and four and was able to snag the lead as McCarthy's No. 28 was reeled in by the cushion. However, her lead was short-lived, as the caution flew for a three-car pileup, reverting us back to the last completed lap and handing McCarthy control.
Going back to green on the final restart with 12 laps to go, McCarthy caught some breathing room as Hank Davis of Sand Springs, Okla. challenged Hollan for second and held her up. The two briefly exchanged positions before Hollan was able to regain command of the runner-up spot and reasserted her attention to tracking down McCarthy.
Switching to the low side of turns one and two, but remaining committed to the cushion on the opposite end, McCarthy was able to build his advantage in the closing stages as an all-out war for third between Davis, Andrew Felker, Zach Daum, Jake Neuman and Daison Pursley took center stage.
In the end, Ace McCarthy's Jim Neuman Racing, Two-Eight Drilling, BOSS/SR-11 No. 28 was not to be denied, as the Tahlequah, Okla. native broke through to score his first-career POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League victory in the "Thunder in the Valley" finale at Valley Speedway.
Holley Hollan followed him to the line with career-best finish, driving the Keith Kunz Motorsports, SIRIUS XM, BOSS/SR-11 No. 67 from ninth-to-second. Andrew Felker of Carl Junction, Mo. rounded out the podium for the second night in a row, this time driving the Chad Shields Racing, MelMark Pipe & Supply, Ripper/Fontana No. 44S from 11th-to-third.
Rounding out the top ten on Saturday at Valley Speedway was Zach Daum in fourth, Hank Davis in fifth, Trey Marcham in sixth, Jake Neuman in seventh, Daison Pursley in eighth, Cannon McIntosh in ninth and Jesse Colwell in tenth.

Danny Dietrich scores $10,000 during All Star visit to Orange County Fair Speedway
MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. (July 13, 2019) - New York has certainly been kind to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania’s Danny Dietrich, as the current Central PA sprint car point leader utilized a near-flawless performance on Saturday night at the ‘House of Power’ - Orange County Fair Speedway - to score a second Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 victory in 2019, his second with the All Stars in the Empire State. Adding some flare to his Middletown score, the Series triumph earned ‘Double-D’ a $10,000 top prize.
Impressive enough, Dietrich, who nearly swept the evening program at Orange County Fair Speedway by winning his respective heat race, the evening’s dash, and finally the 25-lap main event, now owns four All Star Circuit of Champions victories in the state of New York over the course of his career, adding Orange County Fair Speedway to a list that already includes Weedsport Speedway, Lebanon Valley Speedway, and Fonda Speedway.
Despite crossing under the final checkers by a margin of victory exceeding four seconds, Dietrich did not take command for good until lap 19, taking advantage of Gerard McIntyre’s misfortune after the All Star Rookie of the Year contender made contact with the outside retaining wall while leading. In fact, McIntyre led the majority of the 25-lapper, actually controlling 17 circuits, including the first, while attempting to keep Dietrich in his rearview mirror. Dietrich did slip by McIntyre to lead lap 12, but the New Oxford, Pennsylvania-native battled back instantly to regain control the following circuit.
“That was a lot of fun. Hats off to my team for their hard work so far this weekend. We have one more night to go, so hopefully we can cap this weekend with another win,” Danny Dietrich explained, driver of the Gary Kauffman Racing/Sandoe’s Fruit Market/Pace Performance/Sweeney Cars/Self Made Racing/No. 48 sprint car. “We were pretty good all night. We got close to Gerard [McIntyre] a few times before he made contact with the wall. I think we were just as good as him. Regardless, it was a great effort by everyone involved. I certainly wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t them.”
Although Dietrich was in pursuit of McIntrye from the drop of the green, the battle between the lead duo started to intensify on lap 11. McIntrye was in control ripping the top, but Dietrich was utilizing the shorter way around the speedway, closing-in on McIntyre inch by inch as the laps clicked off the counter. By lap 12, Dietrich was in position to make a bid for the top spot, eventually sliding through turns three and four to sneak by McIntyre as the pair raced back to the flagstand. McIntyre retaliated in a hurry, quickly returning to the topside to drive back around ‘Double-D’ to lead lap 13.
With heavy traffic coming into play by lap 15, things really started to heat up between McIntyre and Dietrich, actually translating into a near-nose to tail battle during the next three circuits. Lap 19 is when trouble struck for McIntyre, slipping up the track just enough in turn two to make contact with Orange County’s unforgiving retaining wall.
After inheriting the top spot, the main event quickly turned into the ‘Dietrich Show,’ ending the contest with a four second advantage and a $10,000 prize.
The All Star Circuit of Champions will conclude their three-day swing through New York on Sunday evening, July 14, with a visit to the ‘Valley of Speed’ - Lebanon Valley Speedway in West Lebanon, New York. Certainly synonymous with big action and high speed, the Sunday night blockbuster at Lebanon Valley Speedway will award a $7,000 top prize, as well as a minimum of $1,000 to each main event starter. With all positions considered, the main event’s total purse equals a staggering $39,450.
Lebanon Valley Speedway in West Lebanon, New York, will open pit gates at 3 p.m. on Sunday, July 14. COURTNEY GETS WIN #6 AT JEFF CO.

Fairbury, Nebraska (July 13, 2019).........Only one driver has reached the six-win mark in a single USAC NOS Energy Drink National Midget season faster than Tyler Courtney has this season. That was none other than Rich Vogler who reached six in his 13th race in 1978 and in his 14th race in 1988.
If there's a driver to run second to in the annals of USAC history, Vogler isn't a bad one to be looking up to.
Thus far, through 15 races of the season, Courtney hasn't had to look up to much of anybody. Nor did he in Saturday night's Riverside Chevrolet Midwest Midget Championship presented by Westin Packaged Meats and Schmidt's Sanitation at Jefferson County Speedway where he fended off a pesky Kevin Thomas, Jr. on a late-race restart to win the 40-lapper.
To put the season into perspective, Courtney came into this season with just five USAC National Midget feature wins to his credit. It took him less than half a season to outdo that mark on the 1/5-mile bullring in Fairbury, Neb. By doing so, he maintained his 90-point lead in the standings and inched closer to becoming the first driver to reach double-digit wins in the series since Vogler in 1988.
Though it appeared mostly stress-free for Courtney through much of the middle portion of the feature as he cut through traffic, that wasn't the case in the end, as the Indianapolis, Ind. native had to endure a late-race restart versus Thomas after the yellow flag flew with four laps remaining.
"I didn't want to see that," Courtney admitted. "I hadn't been on the bottom since the beginning of the race. I knew on restarts, it might be alright, but I was committed to running the top. I saw (Kevin Thomas, Jr.) race me on the last restart, and I knew I just needed to hit my marks there on the top. I messed up a couple times, and luckily, I think he may have messed up too. It worked out tonight and we're standing here in victory lane."
Courtney started from the pole, but it was outside front row starter Thomas who got the jump initially, riding the top to the lead as Courtney got shuffled back to 4th on the opening lap while Tanner Thorson and Jerry Coons, Jr. snuck by for 2nd and 3rd, respectively.
Courtney instantly worked his way back to the front, and quickly got returned to 3rd on the second lap and to the runner-up spot during a mad scramble behind race leader Thomas.
Following ninth-running Chad Boat's stoppage in between turns 3 and 4 on the fourth lap, Courtney took control on the ensuing restart as Thomas pulled the wheels up exiting the turn two cushion. Courtney drove by off the bottom to the lead.
Thomas ably reeled in Courtney by the halfway mark in traffic as the lappers went two and, at times, three-wide, forcing Courtney to split the cars of Lance Bennett and Shannon McQueen in turn one to find separation. He was successful and broke away, while Coons, Thomas and Seavey raced three-wide for fourth.
Although Brady Bacon's stop with 14 to go on the other side of the turn two banking tightened up the gap, the three lapped cars of Curtis Spicer, McQueen and Sam Johnson lie between Courtney and Thomas for the restart. On the tight bullring, Thomas got hung up behind the traffic and Courtney once again shot away to a one second advantage.
With four to go and a near-certain victory in sight for Courtney, Ethan Mitchell found himself spun backwards in turn three, setting up a last ditch, trophy dash for the win. With under five to go, lapped cars are sent to the tail by rule, putting Thomas and Tuesday night's Red Dirt winner Seavey right on Courtney's tail tank for the restart.
Tyler Courtney's 11th victory moved him into 62nd on the USAC NOS Energy Drink National Midget career win list alongside Kasey Kahne, Jimmy Knight, Bob McLean, Johnny Moorhouse, Bobby Santos and Brad Sweet.

"Racing with these guys is tough," Courtney said. "Especially when you've got (Kevin Thomas, Jr.) and Logan behind you. Really, everybody in the field is tough right now. We're on our game now and we've got to capitalize on nights like this when we start up front like that. You can't give up positions. You don't have any to give up."
Thomas put the challenge right on Courtney as he utilized the bottom to pull even with high-riding Courtney exiting turn two. With two laps remaining, Thomas got a surge off turn two to edge ahead of Courtney midway down the back straightaway. Courtney showed no wavering, riding the top back around Thomas to secure the spot off turn four. Thomas stayed within striking distance throughout the final lap, but Courtney was flawless, finishing out the victory by 0.365 sec. over K. Thomas, Seavey, Coons and ProSource/KSE Racing Products Hard Charger Tyler Thomas, from 11th.
For Kevin Thomas, Jr., despite the win eluding him on Saturday night, a second is a welcome gift after front-running efforts during the first two "Mid-America Midget Week" events were all for naught after getting caught up in a pair of wrecks that were not of his doing.
"We had a good racecar," K. Thomas said. "If only I just didn't screw up there at the beginning of the race; track position's everything. We had pretty equal cars there and he got through lapped traffic a little bit better. It was a little greasy down and was hard to maneuver around down there, but it was a really good racetrack. I tried to get cute there by running the bottom and trying to sneak by. It worked until I hit the grease down there. I think if I wouldn't have pushed, I could've won that race, but I did push, and we didn't win the race."

DYLAN SWINEHART, BRAD BRIGHTBILL, CASSEL AND NEIMAN WIN HATFIELD QUALITY MEATS FEATURES AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY SATURDAY NIGHT
BECHTELSVILLE, PA. JULY 14, 2019 . . . Dylan Swinehart, former Sportsman rookie driver, took on a big responsibility taking over the driving reins of the Bailey Fabrications 358 Modified No. 81 owned by his grandparents Dennis and Joanne Bailey for the 2019 season at Grandview Speedway. The third generation driver of the Swinehart/Bailey racing family with Dylan’s other grandfather being two-time Grandview point champion and still a weekly competitor Ray Swinehart, has been struggling with not qualifying, and other obstacles along the way, finally had a change of luck on Saturday night when he took home the checkered flag in the 30-lap TP Trailers NASCAR 358 Modified feature that was part of the Hatfield Quality Meats sponsored night of racing. A jubilant victor thanked his grandparents and commented he almost “lost it” since he was running the car so hard as he went on to become the sixth different winner in the division.
Brad Brightbill was in the right position at the right moment when track officials put leader Jack Butler back two positions on the 23rd lap restart because of his cat and mouse tactics on previous restarts that created numerous problems in the Firecracker 40-lap T. /P. Truck Equipment NASCAR Sportsman feature. Brightbill inherited the lead through this decision and went on to claim his third win of the season in the division and claimed a $2,000 payday.
In the 15-lap Blast From The Past feature, Andy Cassel won the Modified portion while Curt Neiman was the winner for the Vintage class.
The night’s activities were sponsored by Hatfield Quality Meats and broadcast live by RCN TV, Allentown.
Providing the Modified and Sportsman feature winners met the necessary requirements, they received monetary awards from TP Trailers and a certificate from VP Fuels for product awards. The Dan’s Deli ½-way hoagie award recipients were Swinehart and Butler. Derrick Smith was the highest finisher in 11th with a crate engine in the Sportsman division and received an extra $150.
Rookie Richie Hitzler led the first two laps of the Modified feature before Kevin Hirthler brought out the only yellow with a right rear flat tire. Following a quick pit stop he was able to rejoin the action. On the restart Swinehart, another rookie, charged into the lead with Hitzler, Joe Funk III, another rookie in the division; Kory Fleming and Ray Swinehart in tow.
Funk III took chase after Swinehart once he moved into second on the fifth lap.
For the next several laps the top five order continued to be Swinehart, Funk III, Hitzler, Fleming and R. Swinehart. Attempting to break into the top five were Timmy Buckwalter and Brett Kressley. Buckwalter got into fourth by the 16th lap, but it wasn’t until the 23rd lap that Kressley was fifth with both drivers on the move to advance.
By lap 25 Swinehart approached lap traffic and it didn’t take Funk III long to reel him in along with the rest of the top five consisting of Buckwalter, Kressley and Doug Manmiller.
Swinehart kept the competition behind him to pull into victory lane. Grabbing second as they crossed the line was Kressley followed by Funk III, Buckwalter and Manmiller.
Ryan Grim, D. Swinehart, Clay Butler and Kressley were the heat winners. Consies were won by Duane Howard and Louden Reimert.
Polesitter Steve Desmelyk led the Sportsman feature for six laps until Jesse Leiby stopped in the second turn for the caution. On the restart, third place runner Jack Butler took the inside lane and got past Chris Esposito and Desmelyk for the lead.
It didn’t take Butler long to build up a straightaway lead and just as he caught the back of the pack, Nathan Mohr spun along the homestretch. Butler brought the field in for the restart very slow bunching everyone else up behind him with Parker Guldin, already a feature winner this year; early leader Desmelyk and Mohr tangling in turn one. The next restart was no better and Andrew Kreis slowed in the first turn. Butler was warned on both occasions to pick up the pace on the restarts. Butler kept the lead, but by now Kyle Lilick was second followed by Brightbill, Esposito and Dean Bachman.
The yellow was out again when Ryan Beltz was spun along the backstretch. Brian Hirthler was placed to the back for the incident. Once again it was a slow start with everyone side-by-side bumper-to-bumper, but Butler maintained first.
Desmelyk spun again on the 22nd lap for another caution. At this time officials deemed it necessary to place Butler back to third for ignoring their warnings. This put Brightbill and Kyle Lilick trying to overtake him.
Towards the closing stages Brightbill approached lapped cars, but that didn’t hinder him and he went on to victory. Brightbill said in victory lane that “he didn’t like to win the race like that putting Jack back, but there’s nothing he could do about it.” Finishing second was Lilick followed by Butler, Brad Arnold and Dean Bachman.
Desmelyk, Esposito and Sean Weiss won the heats. The consi was won by Brandon Edgar.
Andy Cassel, running their Modified class, led the Blast From The Past feature, from start to finish with only one caution period to interrupt. Following Cassel across were Brett Peters, Jeff Paulson, Mike Stofflet and Todd Lapp. Curt Neiman, a Vintage car, finished sixth and won the division’s class segment.
Coming up on Saturday, July 20th is another tripleheader show featuring the Capital Renegade United Racing Club Sprints in their first appearance of the season at Grandview. Sprint events will be sponsored by Victory Auto Glass with the feature paying $2,000 to win. Heading up the Sprint action will be Josh Weller, Chad Layton, Curt Michael, Austin Bishop, former Grandview Late Model champion Ed Aikin who has a URC feature win this season and a host of other Sprint standouts. As an added attraction URC will be hosting a Legends Reunion in the first turn pavilion area. Legends will be signing autographs and chatting with fans starting at 6 p.m. Included amongst the legends will be Sean Michael, Becca Anderson, Mares Stellfox, Charlie Massey, Greg Coverdale, Frannie Hogue, Ed Wylie and host of others.
Thirty minutes earlier the Low Down and Dirty Meet & Greet will feature a handful of Grandview regulars and URC racers at the front admission gate.
The NASCAR 358 Modifieds and Sportsman will be making up the rest of the three division show that is sponsored by T.P.Trailers and Truck Equipment of Limerick, PA.
Adult admission for this not to be missed show is $25, youngsters 6 through 11 pay $5 and kids under 6 are admitted free.

REED AND HOPKINSON ARE WALL MODIFIED TWIN WINNERS
WALL, N.J. ~ Steven Reed of Jackson and Toms River's Derek Hopkinson were winners in All American Auto Group Modified stock car twin 35-lap main events at Wall Stadium on Saturday night. The wins came in front of a large “First Responders Night” crowd.
In the first Modified race Reed and early leader Andrew Krause of Holmdel struggled for the top spot early before they touched on a restart. Krause went sliding as a result as Reed raced into the lead. Reed then fought off Brick's Eric Mauriello in the late stages of the contest before nailing down the win. Roger Coss of Lafayette was third in the 20-car field, while Tyler Truex of Mayetta and Long Island's Ken Matlach wrapped up the top five.
Hopkinson charged to the front at the outset of the second 35-lapper and never looked back. Matlach haunted him early before Truex advanced to second and challenged. Later in the race Truex had to divert his attention from chasing Hopkinson and fighting off the advances of Reed. Krause and Mauriello were fourth and fifth.
After his car was nearly destroyed in a wreck in his last race here John Carpenter of Howell took the lead with an outside lane pass and then raced to victory in the companion 25 lapper for the O'Shea's Auto Repair Factory Stocks. Wall's Bryan O'Shea and Manchester's Scott Riggleman, who was involved in that recent wreck with Carpenter, was third. Shanon Mongeau of Jackson and John Bowers of Pt. Pleasant were fourth and fifth.
An outside lane pass was also the winning move for Carsten DiGiantomasso of Jackson in the 25-lap Center state Engineering Sportsman feature race. Micheal Carr of Pt. Pleasant advanced to second by the finish with Jonathan Laureigh of Lanoka Harbor, Kyle Scisco of Jackson and Edison's Neil Rutt III finishing third through fifth.
Point leader Rutt continued his winning ways by taking the top spot in the 25-lapper for the Surfside Collision 4 Cylinder Stocks. Early leader Alonzo Morales of Mt. Ephraim was second while Ryan Maher and Jeffrey Loesch, both of Neptune City, and Ian Ashford of Howell completed the top five.
Jackson's Shanon Mongeau won the 25-lapper for the Mike's Performance Center Limited Late Models over Bayville's Mike Tillett, Chris Silvestri of Hazlet, Michelle Moorman and Greg Gastelu.
Auto racing continues at Wall Stadium Speedway this Saturday (July 20) night. Featuring a discounted $10 adult admission, Pack the Track Night will feature twin 25-lap main events for both the Sportsman and Factory Stock cars. 25-lappers will also be contested by the Green Flag Driving Experience Legend Cars and the Three-Quarter Midgets. Demolition Derby action will also be a highlight of the program. Grandstand gates open at 5:00 p.m., qualifying begins at 5:45 p.m. and features start at 7:00 p.m.

The premier racing facility in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, the Hamlin Speedway, once again showed how to get things done last evening with an exciting show that took longer than anticipated and left two divisions in drydock when the curfew bell sounded off. The tremendous racing season thus far in 2019 and the loyal fan base and talented roster of driving stars who converge at the speedway are appreciative of all of the hard work and determination the Smith Family goes into preparing an exciting and fun-filled evening of racing. The racing action at the 1/5th mile clay-cushioned facility has been over the top with many outstanding driving personalities carving out their own claim to fame in weekly competition for age groups from 8 to 60 plus and wioth drivers coming to compete from Florida and North Carolina for last night's racing schedule. Last night some new winners graced victory circle with happy faces all around.
The 2019 season is ten weeks old weeks old and many special events have been already been completed but the heart of the racing schedule is still coming up in the next few weeks. Heading up the headlines for last evening’s show include RJ Sherman, who won the Junior Slingshot event in a wire to wire triumph, the sensational Shelby McLaughlin, who captured the All Star Slingshot win in great fashion. "The Electric Man" Colin White who won over a quick field in the JPA Masonry Regular 600 Sprint main event. "TVD" Tanner VanDohren captured the feature in the division for the Hampton RV & Trailer Sales Stage One Modifieds. Sam Sciccitano. who is the current point leader in the series, won the X-Cel Modified event after early leader of the event Jeff Sechrist faltered on a restart.
Mick D'Agostino grabbed the lead at the start of the JPA Masonry event and hustled out to a small advantage lead over Colin White, D'Agostino led until lap five when the caution flag was waved. On the restart, White used some some side speed to slip past D'Agostino and take control of the action. The action that took place behind White and D'Agostino was engaging to say the least. Every turn and straightaway action was filled with excitement as the track was extremely racy as the drivers were able to race side by side and triplicate for most of the racing action. White was the leader of the event and hit his marks around the speedway with precision excellence. White would claim the win with D'Agostino giving chase behind him in an exciting run for in second place. Paul Richards drove into third place with Dylan Martin in fourth and Tyler Lindsay was fifth with Zack Bealer coming on to land in sixth place. Noah Zielinski, Zack Weisenfluh, Stephen Weirich and the returning Pat Bealer.
RJ Sherman was once again the class of the field as the young charger took the lead on the third lap of the encounter and led the remaining laps despite being challenged down the stretch by Kasey Hufcut who would finish in second place. Aiden Elliot was third with Doug Smith fourth and Jacob Bierman doing steady work to land in fifth place. Charlene Benz who led the first two laps of the feature until being spun out came back to finish seventh place with newcomer Dillon Beadle behind her and Kylie Hendricks, James Hendricks, Connor Mirabelli and Jacoby Thompson rounding the top ten finishers.
The All Star Slingshot feature event was all about Shelby McLaughlin. The young lady who is her first year in the All Star Slingshot class, was fast and furious when the green flag came out and grabbed the lead from the start. The young lady had to withstand some constant pressure from Jared Silfee to pull off her win and did so with ease. Silfee finished second with Scott Neary in third place. CJ FRitz was fouth with Dale Kober driving hard to fifth place. James Benz headed up the next spots with Wes Hearn, Brian Smith, Jopey Kalafut and Amber Baccaligni filling in those slots. In the event, newcomer Lucas Weirich took a tumble on the front straight and Rachel Dickinson on the back straight. Both drivers walked away.
In the Hampton RV and Trailer Sales Stage One Modified event, Tanner VanDohren grabbed the lead from his pole start and had things his own way from start to finish to claim the win. Amanda Buchel was the runner-up and Mike Samony was in third place. ADam Buchel was fourth and Jeff Hineline straked into fifth place. Cody Motto, Joel Price, Evan Civick, Mark Evans and James Costlow rounded out the top ten.
Jeff Sechrist led the first few laps of the X-Cel Modified event. A caution brought the field together and on the restart Sam Sciccitano outgunned Sechrist for the top spot. Once in front Sciccitano kept hitting his marks all around the speedway to come up the winner of the tour event. Sechrist would remain in second place with HYunter Diehl hustling hard into third place with Shawna Schibilia in fourth and Geoff Suttion raciong hard to claim fifth place money. Travis Fichter raced hard from 16th starting place to head up the second five while Ray Gradwall, Eric Whitby, Brandon Graner and Nolan Smith rounded out the top ten finishers.
Pearl Jams:
The track was in excellent condition last evening. As many as four lanes of racing brought the fans to their feet as the racers gave it all they had to move up a notch or two from where they began the vening of racing. Kudos go out ot Randy Smith and crew for an excellent job of maintaining the facility and keeping at it during the show.
Heat races went to Paul Richards and Colin White for the 600 Sprints. The Stage One Modifieds found Adam Buchel and Cody Motto in victory lane. The All Star Slingshots had Jared Silfee and Scott Neary winning the heat events. Junior Slingshot heats were claimed by RJ Sherman and Charlene Benz. Rookie 600 heats were claimed by Carmen Leggio Sr and Michael Nolf. The Super Slinger heat went to John Gilroy. The X-Cel Modifieds had Sam Sciccitano, Hunter Diehl and and Jeff Sechrist all claming victories. Steve Sterner escaped serious injury when his car climbed the homestretch wall and flipped over.
Drivers were in from many states last evening including Zak Gorski from Florida and Chase Cabre from North Carolina. Tyler Henry towed down from the Niagara Falls area to compete. Lots of new faces and new cars added to the spectacle of speed.
Faces in the crowd had former competitor Dale Reed and his wife in the house. Gene Beadle who was formally over at Mocatek Speedway was in the house last evening to watch his grandson compete in the Junior Slingshot division.
Don't forget folks, the 100-lap All Star Slingshot event is coming up this weekend and laps are still available for purchase. The laps go for ten bucks each and will be announced before the race goes green. The Hungarian Auction will also take place and a great array of prizes have been delivered to the speedway. The Vet Stock auction will also take place with some great prizes to be offered up.
The two cancelled feature event from tonhght's show have been added to next week's attractions. Come on out and enjoy racing the way it should be done.

RETURN TO FORM: Donny Schatz dominates at Wilmot Raceway
The 10-time Series champion claimed his first World of Outlaws Wilmot Raceway win
WILMOT, WI – July 13, 2019 – Donny Schatz couldn’t hold back the emotion any longer.
With his arms raised and cheeks pushed up by a grin, Schatz yelled with a childlike giggle “Hell yeah, I won at Wilmot! That’s off the books.”
The 10-time World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series champion and now 287-time Series winner claimed his first victory at Wilmot Raceway Saturday night – and fourth win of the season.
“The older you get, you probably put more of a fine-tooth comb on places you haven’t won at and this was one of them,” Schatz said.
Schatz and his Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing team unloaded Saturday evening with the finest comb they could build. He set the pace in Hot Laps and then Qualified second behind Series points leader Brad Sweet.
In his Drydene Heat race, Schatz won by 1.4 sec. He backed that performance up by winning the DIRTVision Fast Pass Dash with a 2.7 sec. lead at the finish.
Dominating the night was not enough to convince Schatz he would excel in the Feature, though. He admitted he didn’t know what to expect from the 1/3-mile track, anticipating lap times to drop during the Feature.
On the initial start, outside polesitter Daryn Pittman made a charge at Schatz for the lead. He kept pace with the reigning champion down the back stretch and dove underneath him in turn three. The two entered turn four side-by-side – the closest anyone came all night to passing Schatz. But the Fargo, N.D.-native had the better run off the corner and cleared Pittman down the front stretch.
For the remaining 39 laps, the only time drivers got close enough to see the bumper of Schatz's Toco Warranty No. 15 car was during a caution on Lap 13 for a car going off track in turn two. After that, Schatz spent his night methodically navigating lap traffic.
However, Friday night’s Feature winner at Hartford Speedway, David Gravel, was not going to let Schatz cruised to the victory. Gravel, Sweet and Pittman traded positions in the top-four all night. After battling side-by-side for several laps, having to be gentle on the throttle through the tight slick corners, Sweet eventually passed Pittman for second on Lap 16. Gravel did the same a lap later, moving past the Roth Motorsports No. 83 car for third.
With 10 laps to go, Gravel finally put together a strong enough lap to work his way by Sweet and try to track down Schatz.
At that point there was about a two second gap between Schatz and second-place. Gravel slowly closed it lap by lap. Every lap car that halted Schatz’s momentum was a few more tenths of a second gained by Gravel.
By the time the white flag came out, Gravel had made up close to a second on Schatz. It wasn’t enough, though. He ran out of time.
“I couldn't get by Daryn very quick and then couldn't get by Brad,” Gravel said. “Then it was just a little too late to make a charge a Donny."
He and his Jason Johnson Racing team were happy with the run, though, leaving the weekend with a win and runner-up finish.
By taking the win Schatz finally broke his winless streak he’s had since the end of May when he won at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway.
“I’m sure somebody was coming there at the end,” Schatz said. “I was kind of hanging. We could get through a few lap cars, but then when I had to move around in (turns) one and two I wasn’t as good. But glad to get a win. It’s been a while. Always feels good to get the win, especially here in Wisconsin.”
Schatz's win put a small dent in Sweet’s point lead over him – he's now 38 points behind the Kasey Kahne Racing driver.
Sweet still leads the Series as the winningest driver with nine wins, so far. Schatz’s fourth victory of the year ties him with Gravel as the third winningest driver, behind Logan Schuchart, who has five wins.
For the past four years, Schatz has had double digit wins at this point in the season. He’s also amassed 20 or more wins in a year since 2013. After winning at Wilmot, he acknowledged the level of competition in the World of Outlaws right now makes those statistics hard to live up to.
“I don’t know how many guys there are capable of winning 20 races in a year,” Schatz said. “There’s some. But it’s hard to live up to them standards and there’s a lot of fast race cars out here right now. The parity in this sport is pretty crazy and to keep up with it is even more so.”
That hasn’t stopped he and his team from striving to do so, though. They continue to make changes and try new things with the car, he said.
At the moment, they’ve found a feel Schatz likes. He’s now eager to carry his winning momentum into the upcoming weeks of prestigious and big paying races. And with another grin and a chuckle, Schatz said he’s even looking forward to going to Tri-State Speedway in October – another track he hasn’t one at.
