RACE CAR SHOW CONTINUES AT PHILLIPSBURG MALL THROUGH SATURDAY. . . . .

QUARTER MIDGETS, “ THE STARS OF TOMORROW” HIGHLIGHT 12TH ANNUAL QUAKER STEAK & LUBE DIRT TRACK HEROES EVENT

The Quaker Steak & Lube Eleventh Annual Dirt Track Heroes Show continued through the third day of its annual week long journey for the racing community and another successful day unfolded with the Tuesday evening presentation. The budding young stars of the quarter midget racing clubs in the local area came out to talk about their budding young racing careers and added their thoughts as to where their journey will possibly take them as they take on the rigors of auto racing. The Tuesday night event was sponsored by Adams Brothers Used Auto Parts located in Allentown, PA, Carl’s Auto Repair in Stroudsburg, PA and Dean Auto Sports in East Stroudsburg, PA. The twelfth annual edition of the show will continue through March 9th with each day of the event showcasing the many different race tracks and racing series operating in the local area and will culminate with an All Star tribute to the Legendary “Old Master” Frankie Schneider on Saturday. For more information check out: www.dirttrackheroescarshow.com

With the eclectic Quaker Steak & Lube Restaurants the lead sponsor of the event, the excitement and the pulse for the week long show quickens with each day as the diverse schedule of the week long show offers a bit of everything to all racing fans. The 55 stores making up Quaker Steak & Lube annually sell more than 80 million wings per year and "The Lube" is recognized as "The best wings in the USA." The Phillipsburg location has also been dubbed "The Official Restaurant of the Dirt Track Heroes" show. To contact the restaurant, call: 908-454-2900 or check out their website at: www.thelube.com Before or after the show head to Quaker Steak & Lube and get recharged and refueled in a great sports setting.

The 12th annual edition of the show will continue through March 9th with amazing sponsorship support through headline sponsor Quaker Steak and Lube restaurant chain and associate sponsors IRCO Community Federal Credit Union, Premio Foods, Jeff's Automotive, Smith Fabrications/Stage One Modifieds, A.R.M Automotive, R&H Auto Sales, Adams Brothers Used Auto Parts, Hamlin Speedway/S&S Speedways, Upstate Auto, JPA Masonry, Phillipsburg Easton Honda, APS Powdercoating, Smitty's Collision Center, Speed Tec, Murante Auto Repair, Joe’s Garage, Dean Autosports and Carl's Auto Repair.

Nightly driver interviews and race cars of all types provide the race fan a full appetite of racing fun before the regular racing seasons begins. The Phillipsburg Mall, located on Route 22 East in Phillipsburg, NJ, has proven to be a popular setting for this special event and offers a multitude of race cars, racing memorabilia, collectibles and photos on display throughout the course of the show.

The show continues to be FREE of charge to the mall traffic and the 2019 edition of the show is the trend setter and show stopper of the many shows that are scheduled during the year.

The Quarter Midget stars arrived rarin’ to go to kick-off the show.. Emcee Justin Beltrame opened the show and introduced IRCO Vice President Greg Collins to the crowd. Collins once thanked the local racing community for their support and talked of the various offerings from the IRCO group and added the Tuesday night portion of the show is one of his favorite nights as he truly enjoys the answers and conversations the announcers are able to extract from the young stars, as some were giving their first ever interviews and through the quickly paced show were able to get the racing families on their way back home. Quarter Midget graduate and former USAC National Champion, Anthony “Chops” Chrobak, addressed the young stars with his thoughts of how he transitioned from the quarter-midgets to the next step of his career with a fourth place finish in points one season ago in the 270 Sprints and of his securing two wins in three races in the Stage One Modified Series. Anthony will be a regular in 2019 in a Stage One Modified race car at the Hamlin Speedway.

Justin Beltrame interviewed an energetic group of young driving stars from the area and without question once again proved the future of auto racing is in great hands with the drivers and the generous support of their families. The Quarter Midgets are a great way to begin the careers of the budding young drivers and many graduates of Quarter Midget racing have gone on to great racing careers in the sport and many of the drivers interviewed felt they would race the Quarter Midgets until their age requirements expire and then make the transition into one of the many offerings available in racing and the answers given would make all of us believe all of the speedways in the area will benefit from the early education these young stars acquire for their racing endeavors.

Drivers on hand included former USAC National Champion Anthony Chrobak, Jacob Bierman, Peyton Knecht, Louie Horavath, Charles Horvath, Cheyenne Breidenstein and McKenzie Smith.

The Wednesday evening show will be highlighting Hamlin Speedway, Snydersville Speedway, Accord Speedway and Orange County Fair Speedway and sponsored by Smith Fabrications/Stage One Modifieds and Hamlin/S&S Speedways.

The great fan base of racing can come out to this grand Mall event and be transported back to a time when they could hop into their family jitney and travel less than a half hour to witness the excitement of a night at the races.

All historical racing groups including Tri State, Flemington, Harmony through Greg Collins, Reading, Remembering Nazareth, Bob Snyder Photos and Snyder Video, Mike Ritter Photos and Mocatek Memories through Justin Beltrame and Wayne Stayer have their memorabilia on display and their many scrapbooks open for the fans to take another long look at the glory years of racing and possibly find a picture or two they want to purchase as a keepsake from past glory or racing exploits. More information is available regarding the show by calling: 443-513-4456.

The Quaker Steak and Lube Dirt Track Heroes Car Show has a must have event T-shirt done exclusively for the show. The great keepsake 60 page event souvenir program book has many great articles regarding our racing heroes and how the Dirt Track Heroes became a reality. The Phillipsburg Mall is open Sunday 11 AM to 6 PM and from Monday through Saturday from 10 AM to 9 PM. The event offers race teams a great opportunity to promote their sponsors and announce their racing plans for the upcoming 2019 racing season.

USAC CHAMPS SEAVEY, SUNSHINE, WINDOM ENTER SHAMROCK AS CAR COUNT NEARS 60

By: Richie Murray - USAC Media

Du Quoin, Illinois (March 4, 2019).........Three more USAC National champs - Logan Seavey, Tyler Courtney and Chris Windom, have entered the fray for this Saturday's Factory Canopies "Shamrock Classic" USAC NOS Energy Drink National Midget Series race on March 9 at the Southern Illinois Center in Du Quoin, where the car count has exploded to close to 60 entries for the fourth annual event.

Seavey, the defending USAC National Midget champ from Sutter, Calif., returns as the reigning "Shamrock Classic" winner, which served as the first USAC win of his career. He leads a group of five from the Keith Kunz Motorsports/Curb-Agajanian stable, including Tucker Klaasmeyer, Holley Hollan, Jesse Colwell and Tanner Carrick.

Courtney, the reigning USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car champ, is also a USAC Midget victor on the indoor 1/6-mile dirt oval, winning the 2016 "Junior Knepper 55" special event. The Indianapolis, Ind. driver arrives as the point leader after capturing the first two races in February in Ocala, Fla.

Courtney's Clauson Marshall Racing counterpart, Windom, aims to make his first "Shamrock Classic" start this Saturday. The Canton, Ill. driver has won twice on the adjacent Du Quoin State Fairgrounds mile in a Silver Crown car in 2016 and 2018. Last year's third-place finisher Zeb Wise and series' Rookie of the Year contender Andrew Layser make up the rest of the stout CMR lineup.

Justin Grant won the "Shamrock" back in 2017 for his first career series win and hopes to become the first driver to enter victory lane twice in USAC competition at the Southern Illinois Center for RAMS Racing. Chad Boat could be a prime candidate to score his first after finishing seventh a year ago en route to a runner-up finish in the standings for Tucker/Boat Motorsports. C.J. Leary kicked off his FMR Racing debut with a pair of top-fives in Ocala to begin 2019.

Billy Wease was victorious in the 2006 "Turkey Night Grand Prix," while a little bit of international flavor arrives in Michael Pickens from New Zealand, who has raced to four career USAC National Midget wins. He'll pilot the RMS LLC #1NZ, the same team which won last December's Southern Illinois Center Midget race with driver Thomas Meseraull.

Also entered for the "Shamrock Classic" are one-third of the list of USAC Triple Crown title-holders who own championships in Silver Crown, AMSOIL National Sprint Car and National Midget competition have entered, including Dave Darland of Lincoln, Ind. in the RMS LLC No. 36 and Jerry Coons, Jr. of Tucson, Ariz. aboard the Petry Motorsports No. 25. Meanwhile, 2014 and 2016 USAC National Sprint Car titlist Brady Bacon will wheel the Kelly Hinck-owned No. 21H.

Among the other standouts and past USAC National feature winners entered for the "Shamrock" are 2014 USAC National Midget Rookie of the Year Kevin Thomas, Jr. of Cullman, Ala. in the Petry Motorsports No. 5. He finished in the runner-up spot in both his initial outings this season in Ocala, Fla. in February.

San Jose, California's Meseraull is the most recent winner of indoor USAC Midget racing in Du Quoin, capturing the victory in last December's "Junior Knepper 55," driving the RMS LLC No. 7R, with whom he returns to for this race.

Last fall, Tyler Thomas became the first driver to win his first career USAC National Sprint and Midget races in the same season since Kyle Larson in 2011. He won that first midget race in Wayne City, Ill. last October and returns to Du Quoin in his own No. 91T.

Fast Lane Racing Apparel is sponsoring FREE race entry for all USAC NOS Energy Midget National Championship teams competing in the March 9 "Shamrock Classic" at the Southern Illinois Center in Du Quoin.

By using coupon code FASTLANE in the box at the link: www.usacracing.ticketspice.com/2019-shamrock-classic-car-entry?fbclid=IwAR1xBSM-QaldijxzhMhFBLZDBuAOMjxDF9gEGbxHkYk4EJzPu6yJUmuUhwo&utm_source=USAC%20CHAMPS%20SEAVEY,%20SUNSHINE,%20WINDOM%20ENTER%20SHAMROCK%20AS%20CAR%20COUNT%20NEARS%2060&utm_campaign=Analytics&utm_medium=email, teams will be able to enter their midget for FREE until Monday, March 4 at 11pm (Central Time) when the offer expires. Pre-entries will be published on Tuesday, March 5.

The fourth annual event presents a hefty payday of $50,000 up for grabs when the USAC NOS Energy Drink National Midgets compete in the 1/6-mile indoor dirt oval located in southern Illinois.

The Factory Canopies "Pot of Gold" Challenge will provide the top-four drivers in passing points throughout the night an opportunity to pad their wallets with a $50,000 bonus. Following the heats and qualifying races, if the top driver in passing points turns down the chance to go to the tail and go for $50K, the option will go on to the next driver and so on, but only the first four in passing points have that option.

The "Shamrock Classic" will offer appearance points only to drivers and their teams, no feature points. That means there's really nothing to lose in the grand scheme in terms of a championship campaign. With a driver's finishing position not being a part of the series title race, that creates more enticement for a team and driver to take on the challenge.

With it being the fourth annual event, the base winner's share is $4000, meaning if a driver could complete the challenge and win from the tail, he or she would collect $54,000, which would be, by far, the richest take-home pay any driver has ever earned for a single race in the history of the USAC NOS Energy Midget National Championship.

Greg and Kim Stewart have been selling event merchandise for over 25 years at racing events across the country. They are proud to sponsor the entry fee portion of the 4th Annual "Shamrock Classic." As part of their sponsorship, every team who enters will receive a 25% off coupon valid at any 2019 event where Fast Lane Racing Apparel is set up and selling merchandise. Your discount can also be used online at FastLaneRacingApparel.com. Fast Lane Racing Apparel will have a booth in Du Quoin where you can purchase your racing merchandise needs.

In addition to USAC National Midget entry fees and the aforementioned discount, every fan in attendance at the "Shamrock Classic" will receive a Fast Lane Racing Apparel coupon valid at every major event at Eldora Speedway, Knoxville Nationals, and Knoxville Late Model Nationals. Fans will receive this coupon upon entry to event.

On raceday, the Southern Illinois Center opens for parking at 8am (Central). Front doors/ticket window opens at 10am. Clear the building/check pit passes & tickets at 11am. Micro Sprint drivers meeting at 11am. Micro Sprint hot laps with heats immediately following at 12:30pm. Public midget drivers meeting (front stretch grandstand) at 3pm. Midget hot laps at 4pm. (All Times Central)

General admission tickets are $20 for age 13 and up. Children's general admission tickets (Age 6-12) are $10. Kids 5 and under are free.

The race will be live-streamed on www.FloRacing.com/.

NEWS FROM LEN SAMMONS PRODUCTIONS

2018-2019 INDOOR AUTO RACING CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES FUELED BY VP RACING FUELS

Event Promoter: Len Sammons @609.888.3618

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

LONG TIME OPEN WHEEL FAVORITE LOU CICCONI, JR. LOOKS TO GET BACK IN THE WINNERS’ CIRCLE IN SYRACUSE INDOOR RACES MARCH 8-9

SYRACUSE, NY March 4, 2019 . . . When the Indoor Auto Racing Series TQ Midget drivers take their first green flag over the March 8-9 weekend inside the new Exposition Center on the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse, Lou Cicconi, Jr., will rank among the favorites.

Cicconi, of Aston, PA, brings into the Syracuse event sponsored by RPM Raceway a singular distinction among all 58 entrants. The 50 year old Cicconi won the 58th and last race held at N.Y.’s Niagara Falls Convention Center, on March 9, 2002 before the building was transformed into a casino.

Shortly thereafter Len Sammons brought back indoor racing to Atlantic City, N.J. after a 24 year absence. This led to the formation of the Indoor Auto Racing Series which has promoted events headlined by the TQ Midgets the past 17 years. The Syracuse venue this weekend becomes the eighth different location hosting an event. Last year an event at Albany Times Union Center made New York the fifth different state to host a Len Sammons promoted event.

This Friday and Saturday night the cars and stars of the Indoor Auto Racing Series fueled by VP will be taking part in the fourth and final fifth round of the 2019 season. On the line will be time trials, qualifying events and a 40 lap feature event both nights with the overall season champion crowned following Saturday’s event.

Cicconi, a four-time winner at both Niagara Falls and Atlantic City over the years, is making a comeback this winter after conquering some personal health issues.

“It got to the point where I was short of breath and couldn’t breathe,” Cicconi related. “The doctor told me I was overweight and out of shape.”

As a result, Cicconi kept a low profile for the past three seasons, running a very limited schedule while fielding cars for other drivers. But for this year’s Indoor Auto Racing Series schedule Cicconi returned in a big way. He not only returned to the cock-pit full-time but also fielded other neon yellow and red No. 75 TQs for the Allentown and Atlantic City races.

“I know I will never get back to where I was,” said Cicconi, a two-time winner of Atlantic City’s Gambler’s Classics (2006, 2010). “But I want to be able to give it my best effort. You lose something by not racing regularly but I am getting my confidence back.”

Cicconi is well known in Central New York racing circles for his Supermodified and ISMA achievements. He won one Oswego Speedway Supermodified feature, in 2013, and has 20 ISMA wins as well as a championship (2013) and two runner-up title chase placings (2001, 2012).

Cicconi will field a second car for Syracuse, being driven by young Damon Paul of Stony Point. NY.

“Damon’s a nice young kid. I like him and his father (Tim) too. I want to give him a shot. But two cars is all I want to go to Syracuse with. I need to focus on my own deal.”

Though Cicconi is not in the hunt for it, the biggest prize in Syracuse will be the crowning of the 2019 Indoor Auto Racing Series Fueled By VP Race Fuels. North Carolina resident Ryan Flores leads the standings, with 290 after the first three races. But Flores, who works full time for Roger Penske’s Ryan Blaney NASCAR Monster Energy Cup team, will not be in the Syracuse field because of his work commitment.

Erick Rudolph, Ransomville, NY, 260, and Justin Bonsignore, Holtsville, LI, NY, 239, Andy Jankowiak, Tonawanda, NY, 220, and Eddie Strada, Lake Ariel, PA, 213, who are second through fifth thus become the pre-race title favorites.

A maximum of 210 points are available, 100 for a feature win and five points for quick time each night, meaning that 210 markers can be picked up by any TQ competitor over the Syracuse race weekend. Non-qualifiers earn 10 points for each night, a minimum of 20 points for the weekend. Thus the most points any driver can gain is 190.

The points chase with the TQs is so close that any one of the top 26 drivers in the standings could, in theory, win the championship.

Round 3 and Round 4 for the companion Slingshots and Champ Karts is also on the Syracuse card. Each of the two nights of racing will consist of complete programs as well for these two divisions.

Dr. Williams Lowe, a long-time supporter of TQ Midget racing, has posted $200 to the fast qualifier both nights. N.Y.’s Oswego Speedway, the home of SuperModified racing, has signed on to sponsor the TQ Midget heat races. The winner of each of the six Oswego Speedway heat races on both Friday and Saturday night will receive not only a spot in the A-Main but a $50 bonus.

Doors open at 6 PM on Friday night with racing beginning at 7:30. Doors open at 5:30 PM on Saturday with racing at 7 PM. Fans will be able to visit the pit area to see the cars and meet the drivers each night until 30 minutes before the racing begins.

The building has a different seating configuration than other venues the series stops at in that grandstand patrons enter at track level, then walk up to seating areas.

A link to purchase tickets in advance is available at www.indoorautoracing.com, at this location, spectators may select choice seats from three sections located on both the front and the backstretch. Tickets can also be purchased by calling E-Tix directly at 1-800-514-3849. Tickets will also be available each day of the event starting at 2 PM at the Expo Box Office, but prices increase by $5 each on the days of the event. Pit passes, which do not guarantee a seat, are on sale on the backside of the building on Friday from 9 am to 2 PM and Saturday 11:30 to 2 PM. After 2 PM, pit passes will be available at the box office at the front of the building. Parking is free.

Race fans can enjoy a double header weekend at the Fairgrounds with the 33rd annual Syracuse Motorsports Expo and Trade Show being held at the Center of Progress Building. This show opens on Saturday at 10 am giving everyone plenty of time to enjoy that show then walk over to the nearby Exposition Center for the races that night. The Trade show reopens on Sunday from 11 to 4 pm.

NEWS FROM ERNIE SAXTON’S MOTORSPORTS SPONSORSHIP MARKETING NEWS

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“HOW TO FIND TIME FOR SPONSORSHIP WORK” AND MORE IN THIS EDITION OF ERNIE SAXTON’S MOTORSPORTS SPONSORSHIP MARKETING NEWS

LANGHORNE, PA March 2, 2019 . . . Often times we hear racers tell us that the reason they are not successful at securing sponsorship is because they just don’t have the time needed to devote to it. In the latest edition of Ernie Saxton’s Motorsports Sponsorship Marketing News Kristin Swartzlander, considered an expert in sponsorship marketing, shares some ideas on “How to Find Time for Sponsorship Work”. We are sharing a few of the ideas but you will have to sign up for a subscription to see the rest of the article.

When working with clients, answering questions in our sponsorship success group, fielding emails or talking to racers at events, one of the biggest barriers teams feel in finding sponsorship is: "I don't have enough time."

It's a legit concern, but it's a claim that we make probably every day.

Think about the conversations you just had over the holiday season. When someone mentions what they're up to or their goals for the next year, we've all said we don't have time for things that we legitimately want to do. It might be finding sponsors for the upcoming season. It might be starting a side business or working out or cooking home-cooked meals or taking the kids to a trampoline park. (<- That's what you do with children, right? 'Trampolines' seems accurate.) We've never been - or felt - busier. There's never enough time. But here's the hard truth: if you don't have time to find sponsorship, you don't have time to have marketing partners because you don't have time to serve them. Sad, but true. And the Swartzlander article goes on. Also in this edition of Motorsports Sponsorship Marketing News is the finish of a two part article by Attorney M.K Spotts on “Social Media Management”. Kym Oberauer offers some great sponsorship help with his article titled “How to Attract Sponsors Using Irresistible Opportunities”. And there is some help with public relations efforts including an article from Mickie Kennedy’s eReleases that offers great tips on producing news releases that will be used plus a load of news on successful sponsorship deals that have recently been announced. A one year subscription to the newsletter, now in its 35th year, is priced at $29.99 while a two year subscription is just $39.95. That is quite a savings. NORTHEAST DIRT TRACK STAR BOB SCHMIDT MAKING FIRST QUAKER STEAK & LUBE DIRT TRACK HEROES APPEARANCE, WEEKLONG SHOW OPENS SUNDAY, MARCH 3

With the Dirt Track Heroes honoring a famed triple digit car number “555” in Richie Smith another three-digit car will be making his first appearance. Bob Schmidt and his familiar “333” will be on hand all week at the Dirt Track Heroes show. Schmidt whose career began at age 16, at the Beach Lake race track continues today at age 79 in the Vintage Modifieds. Schmidt raced many tracks such as Honesdale, Moc A Tek, Weedsport, Penn Can, Herb Harvey, Accord, Nazareth, Orange County and even in Canada throughout his racing career. He was the 1975 Sportsman champion at the now defunct Moc A Tek Speedway. During that 1975 season, Schmidt accomplished an amazing feat by winning three 100 lap features in one weekend. This started at Penn Can on Friday, then Moc A Tek Saturday, and capping of the trifecta at Herb Harvey’s on Sunday. In 1976, he switched to Orange County as this was his favorite track growing up as a kid. Schmidt dreamed of winning on the “Hard Clay” and that he did in a memorable season in 1977. He won two of the first three features of the season and was set to contend for the Sportsman title. The native of Greeley, PA wound up with a pair of feature wins, two runner ups and six other top 5 finishes but came up 68 points short of the title. The title was won by a young up and coming star by the name of Brett Hearn.

Today Bob is following the Northeast Vintage traveling series and still competing at a high level. He had to make a few modifications to the car by adding the roof flap to help exit the car easier, but on the track, he is still a force to recon with. In 2017, Bob had a scare at the Accord Speedway, as he got into the loose stuff and hit the wall which sent his car barrel rolling over three times before coming to a rest on its’ hood. He was fine without a scratch on him but more disappointed in himself. Last year during Nostalgia night at Orange County, Schmidt charged from the back to second place, and was closing in on the leader but ran out of laps. With victory lane still in his sites he is energized for the 2019 season in his Precision Engine powered “333”. These are just a few stories of Bob’s career, and he is excited to be a part of the 2019 Dirt Track Heroes Show to see some familiar faces from years past, and share even more stories with the crowd.

GERALD CHAMBERLAIN TO APPEAR AT 12th ANNUAL QUAKER STEAK & LUBE DIRT TRACK HEROES EVENT

The Quaker Steak and Lube Dirt Track Heroes Show will have one of the great racing legends back at the event as "The Everett Express" Gerald Chamberlain has informed the show staff he has made plans for the show. Gerald was already a legend in racing when he first set foot onto the Reading Fairgrounds site in 1968, having captured track titles at the South Penn Speedway in 1964 and 65 with dominating performances in which he captured 18 wins in 22 events to dominate the racing action. Chamberlain captured a Hesston Speedway title in 1965 and added another championship 1967 when he captured the track title at the paved Hershey Stadium. Taking over the seat of the famed Paul Deasey owned 707 "Big Donkey," Chamberlain quickly figured out the fast way around Reading and was able to put the sometimes unpredictable Donkey into victory lane on a steady basis.

Teaming with the potent Joe Bullock Team in 1970, Chamberlain captured 22 wins in 1971 and came back the following season to break his own record with 31 feature tallies. Chamberlain went on to capture 92 wins at Reading. Chamberlain captured two Daniel Boone 200 lap wins and captured the Eastern States 200 in 1976. Chamberlain captured two titles at Flemington the first one 1974 and again in 1976 and captured 31 wins in his tenure at the Square. Chamberlain has been inducted into the DIRT Hall of Fame as well as honors at Bedford, Hagerstown and Winchester and the Reading Fairgrounds. Gerald Chamberlain has been a strong supporter of the Dirt Track Heroes Show and he and his wife Joanne look forward to once again seeing his many friends at the Phillipsburg Mall.

Quaker Steak and Lube Restaurants is the lead sponsor for the Dirt Track Heroes Show. The Quaker Steak and Lube chain annually sell more than 80 million wings per year and "The Lube" is recognized as "The best wings in the USA." The Phillipsburg location has also been dubbed "The Official Restaurant of the Dirt Track Heroes" show. To contact the restaurant, call: 908 454 2900 or check out their website at: www.thelube.com Before or after the show head to Quaker Steak and Lube and get recharged and refueled in a great sports setting.

The Dirt Track Heroes Show is extremely proud and thankful to the great list of associate sponsors assembled for the upcoming show. To our loyal racing fans, we ask that you please support these fine institutions whenever you have the opportunity to do so. These great sponsors are the life support of the show and to do the show without them would be extremely difficult to accomplish.

Sponsors in 2019 include IRCO Community Federal Credit Union, Phillipsburg Easton Honda, Premio Foods, Smith Fabrications/SOM Modifieds, Adams Brothers Used Auto Parts, Hamlin Speedway/S&S Speedways, A.R.M Automotive, R& H Auto Sales, APS Powdercoating, Upstate Auto, JPA Masonry, Gardner’s Auto Service, Speed Tec, Murante Auto Repair, Jeff's Automotive, Smitty’s Collision Center, Carl’s Auto Repair, Dean Auto Sport and Joe’s Garage.

Current and Vintage or restored race cars represent racing's past, present and the future of racing and the past represent what many race fans refer to as the "Golden Era" of auto racing. Either way, the spirit of the event itself takes the great fan base of the event back to a time when they could hop into their family jitney and travel less than a half hour to witness the excitement of a night at the races. While some of the cars in attendance are original works, some of the race cars are replicars, re-created to look much like the racers the legendary drivers drove to glory at one of the many speedways that hosted racing events. Those great cars and the preserved memories gain far more impact when the fans have the opportunity to chat with many of the drivers who will be making special appearances during the week long event.

All historical racing groups including Flemington, Tri State, Dorney Park, Harmony and Nazareth will have their memorabilia on display and their many scrapbooks open for the fans to take another long look at the glory years of racing and possibly find a picture or two they want to purchase as a keepsake from past glory or racing exploits. Dale Snyder Videos and Bob Snyder Photography, MiBest Collectibles, Wayne Stayer and Mocatek are also in place for the show.

The Dirt Track Heroes Car Show will again offer a great keepsake event souvenir program book and shirt. The Phillipsburg Mall is open Sunday 11 AM to 6 PM; Monday through Saturday from 10 AM to 9 PM. Schatz Defies Odds in Sin City

LAS VEGAS, NV – Feb. 28, 2019 – The final night of racing at The Dirt Track at Las Vegas was Donny Schatz’s to lose. He was hundredths of a second away from winning his Heat race, he won the DIRTVision Fast Pass Dash, and he pulled away with the lead at the start of the Feature in front of thousands that came to see a historic night of racing that paired the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series with the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West.

But on lap 14 he lost it. Series points leader Daryn Pittman had inched closer and closer to Schatz every lap, eventually finding grip in the middle of the track and darting by him.

He stretched the lead of the FVP Platinum Battery Showdown presented Star Nursery between he and Schatz to about a straightaway’s length. Even with multiple cautions and an Open Red, allowing teams to refuel their car, Pittman never fluttered, always knowing where to find grip on the rubbered down track, gradually moving from the top of the track at the beginning of the race to the bottom of the track by the end. The race was then his to lose.

And on the final lap of the race, he lost it. Blocked by a slower lap car – a situation Pittman used to his advantage to win his first race of the season – Schatz took advantage of a clear opening on the high side of the track to get his Tony Stewart Racing car back by Pittman and then held him off to claim a victory he thought he had lost.

“I didn’t think we’d get him (Pittman),” said 10-time Series Champion Schatz. “But we hit traffic on the last corner. He went there (low), and I was going the other place. It was either win it or wear it, and lucky we won it.”

Lady Luck was good to Schatz. Not only did he find luck in lap traffic, he found luck in his tires holding on until the end of the 30-lap Feature, extended by multiple cautions – as his right rear tire could have been mistaken for a slick stock car tire by the end of the race. Pittman cited drivers’ fear of blowing a tire is why he caught lap traffic in five laps after a late race caution, leading to him losing the race.

“We were lapping really good cars. The problem was everybody’s pace was off, because I think everybody was afraid of blowing tires,” Pittman said. “They were just going slower than I thought they would. Honestly if I could have replayed it, I probably would have just slowed down from the time we went green with five to go.”

However, Pittman acknowledged he couldn’t slow down too much because Schatz “will blow his tire trying to win a race and not think twice about it.”

The victory is Schatz’s 13th win at The Dirt Track at Las Vegas and his 284th World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series victory. He went winless in the first three races of the season for the first time since 2013 – a stat he laughed off, but is glad to get past.

“I went three races without a win. Holy hell, I’m glad we’re over that hump,” Schatz said.

Looking to spoil the Schatz and Pittman battle for the lead, which ended with a 0.071-sec. gap, was third place finisher Logan Schuchart. He quietly worked his way through the field, from 10th, getting to third by lap 13. He stalked the two Series champions throughout the race, staying close enough to pounce if one bobbled, but neither did.

“I thought I might have a shot right there at the end with both of them,” Schuchart said. “But these guys are World of Outlaws champions. They’re going to be tough to beat and they’re not going to make many mistakes.”

He too was worried about his tires at the end of the race, stating he slowed his pace a little to not blow one.

Tires plagued Cory Eliason’s night with his right rear tire blowing in the closing laps of the race, but he still managed to be the KSE Hard Charger for the second night in a row. He finished 13th after starting 24th.

While Schatz claimed the victory at the FVP Platinum Battery Showdown, Pittman remains the points leader – by just four points over Schatz.

World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series actions resumes March 8-9 at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, CA. As always, you can catch all the action on DIRTVision.com.

Historic wins

Donny Schatz’s last lap pass to claim his 284th win came on an historic night for the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Car Series. For the first time, the World of Outlaws and the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West were paired together for a thrilling night of racing at The Dirt Track at Las Vegas.

It was an event that drew a crowd of thousands in the stands and attracted a wide range of media attention.

“I’m glad to see a lot of the NASCAR fans here,” Schatz said. “We met a lot of NASCAR people the last couple of days, people who have never seen a Sprint Car before. So hopefully it opens their eyes to new things.”

Echoing the heart-pounding finish to the World of Outlaws race, the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West put on an equally exciting show, with rising NASCAR star Hailie Deegan making a last lap pass for the win in the 100-lap Star Nursery 100. While the 17-year-old is paving a bright future for herself in NASCAR, she couldn’t help but be drawn to the “gnarly” Sprint Cars.

“It’s sick,” Deegan said about NASCAR racing with the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars. “At Volusia (Speedway Park) was the first time I saw Outlaw racing, and man, I wanted to get into a car so bad… I think coming out here with the Sprint Cars definitely made for a good show.”
