The Quaker Steak and Lube 13th Annual Dirt Track Heroes Car Show is set to open Friday, March 6 and run through Sunday, March 8 at the Palmer Park Mall in Easton, PA. The three day show is free to the public and will showcase race cars of present and past and from a variety different race tracks and organizations. The off season event will be a tribute to Doug Hoffman and the great racing legacy he left behind. Event organizers are also dedicating this event to the racing promotional team of Steve and Ed Pados, both instrumental in organizing this event many years ago.

The Palmer Park Mall is located in Easton, PA, at the intersection of Route 248 and Park Avenue, just off route 22/78. It is a single-story mall, with 457,743 square feet of shopping. The Palmer Park Mall is somewhat smaller than the Phillipsburg Mall, so those wishing to be part of the show should enter early. The Quaker Steak & Lube Dirt Track Heroes Show will be utilizing the former BON TON Store as well as much of the Mall walk area. The Mall is bright and busy with many eating locations to enjoy.

Aaron Reutzel scores second consecutive All Star victory with Winn-Dixie triumph at East Bay Raceway Park
TAMPA, Fla. (February 10, 2020) - Despite the entire Florida campaign not accumulating points toward the overall Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 championship, if Florida results could give any indication on how the 2020 All Star title chase will unfold, Clute, Texas’ Aaron Reutzel is a surefire favorite to earn the $65,000 top prize, ultimately increasing his consecutive championship run to three.
Now with two consecutive All Star victories in the Sunshine State, the first occurring during Volusia Speedway Park’s DIRTcar Nationals on Thursday, February 6, Baughman-Reutzel Motorsports’ Aaron Reutzel continued his Florida dominance with a convincing All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Winn-Dixie victory at East Bay Raceway Park on Monday evening, February 10, taking command for the first time on lap three before escaping from the rest of the field to snag the $5,000 payday. In addition, the win was Reutzel’s 27th during Series competition, doing so from sixth on the grid.
“We kinda picked up right where we left off last year. Whenever you’re running that good at the end of the year, you don’t want the year to end. Momentum can change and you can never be too sure how the next year is going to start,” Aaron Reutzel explained, driver of the Baughman-Reutzel Motorsports/Folkens Brothers Trucking/Fischer Body Shop/Dissolvalloy/No. 87 sprint car. “Even when we had the opportunity to practice last week, I told the guys I didn’t want to practice. I just wanted to head into race night like it was another race from last year.”
A takeover that proved to be just as impressive as the driver performing it, Reutzel’s bid for the lead on lap three consisted of two parts, the first segment being a slingshot move around the outer edge of the speedway in turns one and two to power by three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion, Tony Stewart. Reutzel’s maneuver in the first two corners was soon followed by a dive through turns three and four to sneak by Brian Brown for the top spot. The multi-time Knoxville Raceway track champion led the first two circuits.
Reutzel went on to race unchallenged throughout the remaining distance, easily navigating through slower traffic while Tony Stewart, Cory Eliason, Ian Madsen and Brian Brown all jockeyed for position. Climbing ahead from eighth, Madsen eventually settled into second on lap 18 and desperately attempted to track down the two-time champion during the second half of the 30-lap program. The effort was present, but the gap was too much to overcome, even in late stages of traffic. Reutzel lapped all but the top 11 cars and, at one point, maintained a near-five second advantage. The final margin of victory equalled 2.5 seconds.
“The track was phenomenal tonight. I’d love to see a race track like that the entire time we are here,” Reutzel continued. “That was a lot of fun. I can’t thank my team enough for what they do for me. I wouldn’t be where I am today without their hard work and dedication.”
Following Reutzel and Madsen to the line were Cory Eliason, Tony Stewart and Chad Kemenah, who advanced four spots to secure his top-five performance. On a special note, Aaron Reutzel is now the second Texan to score an All Star Circuit of Champions main event victory at East Bay Raceway Park, now joining Gary Wright on the Florida wins list.

With one night of Winn-Dixie action in the books, Tony Stewart’s All Star Circuit of Champions will conclude their 2020 Florida vacation, officially, with one final visit to East Bay Raceway Park on Tuesday, February 11. Dubbed the All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Winn-Dixie, the East Bay All Star finale will award a $5,000 top prize. GATOR HUNTERS: Schuchart wins DIRTcar Nationals finale, Sweet claims Big Gator championship
Logan Schuchart wins first Volusia Speedway Park Feature and Brad Sweet wins his second Big Gator
BARBERVILLE, FL – Feb. 9, 2020 – The wild hunt commenced Sunday night at the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series finale at the DIRTcar Nationals presented by Bozard Ford.
The trophies: A golden gator. And a Big Gator.
Logan Schuchart put an assault on the 27-car field, in front of a packed house, to earn his first win at Volusia Speedway Park and Brad Sweet cruised to his third podium finish in-a-row, awarding him his second Big Gator championship. Sweet won his first Big Gator in 2016.
“It was a lot of fun,” Sweet said about the event. “I thought we had a lot of different tracks all week. The NAPA car was fast on all the different conditions, but we’ll take that… 2020 is looking to be a strong year for us.”
Schuchart, who had never finished inside the top-five and never led a lap at the half-mile speedway, ended his 2020 DIRTcar Nationals with three top-five finishes in-a-row and 50 laps led. He placed second the first night. Charged from 25th to fifth the second night. And won the DIRTcar Nationals Sprint Car Week finale.
“This place is just so tough,” Schuchart said. “You know, we come here, we learn, I watch videos in the wintertime. We just try to make our cars better as a whole.
“Just kind of studying the racetrack. Notes from the past. Watching the highlight videos from the past few years and what other people’s cars look like compared to ours and maybe what we could have done better to qualify and put us in better positions… First three races were awesome. To pull away with a win really helps our confidence.”
That confidence showed before the conclusion of Sunday night’s 30-lap Feature when the Hanover, PA driver powered his way underneath Daryn Pittman on Lap 2 to take the lead. From there, he never relinquished it, leading the final 29 laps. Although, those on the hunt behind him tested his poise.
Schuchart held a commanding lead on the field but as lap traffic continuously hindered his pace, Pittman closed in. With 10 laps to go, Schuchart got caught behind a slower car coming off Turn 2, allowing Pittman to close within a car length’s distance.
However, once Schuchart found his way back into clean air, Pittman was left having to fend off Cory Eliason and Sweet.
In the closing laps of the race, Eliason found another gear. With five laps to go he charged his way around the outside of Pittman for second and set his sights on Schuchart. Three laps later, with smoke billowing out of his exhaust, Eliason powered his way around Schuchart off Turn 2.
Not willing to forgo his first DIRTcar Nationals win, Schuchart threw a hold-your-breath-slide job on Eliason through Turns 3 and 4 to reclaim the lead.
A large cloud of smoke erupted from Eliason’s motor the next lap, ending his night. The yellow flag flew with one lap to go.
On the restart, with Pittman and Sweet breathing down his neck, Schuchart darted away from the field. No one could touch the red and white Drydene car. Pittman and Sweet had to settle for second and third, respectively.
“Just pissed off at myself,” Pittman said. “I feel like if I would have stayed second… Man, like on that white flag, I couldn’t believe how far back he (Schuchart) came to me and Cory (Eliason). Honestly, I think it was anybody’s race going down the backstretch there on the white flag lap. We were kind of nose to tail. I wish I would have been in second there, I think I would have had a shot.”
Behind the top-three, Sheldon Haudenschild had one of the most impressive runs of the race in his NOS Energy Drink #17 car. For the second time in three races during the DIRTcar Nationals, Haudenschild earned the KSE Hard Charger award, racing his way from 18th to fourth.
Ten-time Series champion Donny Schatz, who opened the 2020 World of Outlaws season with a win found himself having to settle for a seventh-place finish. He finished sixth the night before.
Sweet started the DIRTcar Nationals being presented his 2019 World of Outlaws championship ring and ended it being presented his second Big Gator trophy. He’ll also leave Florida with the Series points lead – two points ahead of Schuchart.
The championship is far out of Schuchart’s head with more than 80 races to go this season. He said his focus is just to win as many races as he can. Nabbing his first golden gator trophy is one he can finally cross of his list.
“I really wanted one of these gators,” Schuchart said. “I’m really glad we got one.”

BACK ON TOP: Brad Sweet wins second night at DIRTcar Nationals
Sweet leads Kasey Kahne Racing World of Outlaws 1-2 finish at Volusia Speedway Park
BARBERVILLE, FL – Feb. 8, 2020 – Brad Sweet is beginning the 2020 season the same way he ended the last, as the top dog — or in his case, the Big Cat.
The reigning champion, of Grass Valley, CA, won Saturday’s second night of World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series action during the DIRTcar Nationals presented by Bozard Ford — after opening the season with a third-place run.
“It’s nice to get the first Outlaws win out of the way,” said an elated Sweet, holding his daughter in Victory Lane at Volusia Speedway Park.
Sweet has yet to finish outside the top-three throughout the Sprint Car races at the DIRTcar Nationals. He won the opening DIRTcar Nationals race with the All Star Circuit of Champions, finished second the next night with the All Stars, finished third in the season opener for the World of Outlaws and then found Victory Lane once again.
His path to his first World of Outlaws win of the year – and 51st career win overall – was not claimed with ease.
At the start of the 30-lap Feature, Sweet – who lined up second alongside polesitter Ian Madsen – found himself chasing the swift Australian in the opening laps. Madsen pulled ahead to almost a half straightaway lead over the 2019 champion.
Once Madsen reached lap traffic, Sweet began to slowly reel him in. On Lap 7 Sweet dove underneath Madsen into Turn One, taking the lead. As Sweet’s car drifted up the track off Turn 2, Madsen had a power run around the top, rapidly charging toward Sweet, and the two collided. Sweet’s right rear touched with Madsen’s left front, sending Madsen into the catchfence.
After the hard hit, Madsen later went to Twitter and said: “I take responsibility for the crash tonight. World of Outlaws wins are extremely hard to come by, and you can’t give an inch when racing for the win. That being said, I made a misjudgment which cost my team a car and a chance for the win.”
After an Open Red period to repair part of the Turn 2 fence, Sweet launched to the lead on the restart, pulling away from second-place Brian Brown by a half straightaway. Sweet’s Kasey Kahne Racing teammate James McFadden charged from fourth to second in two laps and began his hunt for the lead.
By the time McFadden comfortably placed himself in the runner-up position, Sweet had already pulled away to a straightaway lead. However, by Lap 16, McFadden cut Sweet’s lead in half.
McFadden closed within a car length of his teammate, but Sweet gave a masterclass in working through lap traffic, at times dodging cars like he saw the future and knew exactly where every car would be.
“He (Sweet) did a really good job there getting into (Turn) 3 and splitting those (lap) cars,” McFadden said. “I was actually thinking, ‘We’re pretty good here and might have a shot,’ but he got by those cars pretty quick and left me hanging.”
Sweet and McFadden gave Kasey Kahne Racing its first one-two finish since 2016 at Cotton Bowl Speedway.
“Early in the season, great way to start for the teams,” Kasey Kahne said. “Brad and the NAPA guys have been on every single night. It’s great to have James back in the #9. He did a great job for us last year and is back at it. It’s going to be a lot of fun this whole season.”
Last year’s DIRTcar Nationals Big Gator championship winner Daryn Pittman rounded out the top three.
A few spots back, Logan Schuchart put on the other show of the night. The Hanover, PA driver went from finishing second in the season opener, to having to use a provisional to start the Feature, but in the main event he made an impressive charge from 25th to fifth.
“I felt good all night,” Schuchart said. “I felt like I had a good car. We were really fast last night. I don’t know what we missed in qualifying. I’m still stumbled about that.”
Ten-time Series champion Donny Schatz, who won the season opening race, placed sixth after starting ninth.
Sweet is back in familiar territory, atop the World of Outlaws point standings – six points ahead of Schatz. He also leads the DIRTcar Nationals Big Gator championship points with one race remaining. McFadden is second, 38 points behind Sweet and Schatz is third, 50 points out of the lead. If he is able to secure the Big Gator on Sunday, it would his second – having one his first in 2016.
“They (KKR) have been giving me great race cars,” Sweet said. “We’ve been on the podium every single night, second win of the week. Hats off to them and hopefully we finish strong tomorrow.”

WINDOM WINS FIRST FOR NEW TEAM IN OCALA

Ocala, Fla. (February 8, 2020)......... Chris Windom's second race as a member of Tucker-Boat Motorsports began much the same as his first the night before by having to quickly make up ground and dig his way into contention after starting behind the eight ball, and the first three rows.
Saturday night in the Winter Dirt Games XI finale for the USAC NOS Energy Drink Midget National Championship, Windom immediately shed his starting spot of 10th with the snap of finger, climbing into the top-five by lap two and, ultimately, into the lead with six laps remaining, capitalizing on a golden opportunity that arose following engine trouble for race leader Tanner Thorson.
The victory provided a third career series feature win for the Canton, Ill. driver who joined TBM for the 2020 campaign and admitted to gaining an extra sense of personal motivation for he and his NOS Energy Drink - Pristine Auction - K & C Drywall/Spike/Speedway Toyota.
"I think I was just kind of pissed that I had to start 10th, so I was driving as hard as I could from the start of the race," Windom said. "I knew our cars were good enough to be up there. With the format change this year, it moved us back a row and we had to come from 10th there. We've been good here all week, especially in the features, and (car owner) Chad (Boat) has brought some badass racecars for us this year."
"To get a win the first weekend out, that's what you strive for at the start of the year," Windom added. "Hopefully we can keep it rolling because we're here to win a bunch of races and win the championship."
From the get-go, however, it once again looked like it was going to be Thorson's stage after capturing the prior night's season opener at the 3/8-mile D-shaped dirt track.
The 2016 series champ set a brand new one-lap track record in qualifying, then proceeded to carve his way from sixth to second on the opening lap, splitting between Petry teammates Kevin Thomas Jr. and Tanner Carrick in turn two, then sliced beneath pole sitter Tyler Courtney for second between turns three and four.
Cannon McIntosh controlled the field from the start but was rapidly encroached by Thorson's blitz that carried him into the race lead under McIntosh entering turn one on the fourth circuit.
The first yellow of the night arrived on lap 11 when seventh-running Tanner Carrick clipped an infield tire in turn three while negotiating lapped traffic, causing the car to stall to a stop in turn four. The 2019 USAC National Most Improved Driver restarted from the tail but came back to finish 10th.
The ensuing restart was where Windom turned up the wick, driving by McIntosh for third on the 14th lap, then underneath Courtney for second on the back straightway on lap 15.
Windom's motive was now right in front of his visor and within a reasonable striking distance. However, the gap between the two wasn't about to close at this rate with Thorson ripping several of his fastest laps of the race through the mid-section to construct a 1.5 second advantage with just 10 laps remaining.
However, with six laps remaining, just when you thought Thorson had all but sewn up a weekend sweep of Winter Dirt Games XI, his evening and his ride went up in a cloud of smoke, prematurely ending a superb weekend and handing the lead over to Windom, who felt like his car was just as good as Thorson's but may not have had enough to run him down if the race went clean and green the remainder of the way.
"I knew he was going to be good again," Windom admitted of Thorson. "I felt like we were just as good as him once we got to second. We probably didn't have the speed to run him down and pass him because it's just such a wide-open track. When there's that caliber of cars out there, you're not going to be a lot better than the next guy. You've got to put yourself in position to get there and that's what we did."
From that point forward, Windom was undeterred like a vapor trail in the empty air, distancing himself from Courtney by a 1.134 second margin at the checkered to earn the first USAC National Midget victory for a car numbered 89 since Parnelli Jones' 100-mile triumph at the Milwaukee Mile on August 12, 1961, for car owner Chuck Benda.
"To get a win the first weekend out, that's what you strive for at the start of the year," Windom said. "Hopefully we can keep it rolling because we're here to win a bunch of races and win the championship."
In the process, Windom earned KSE Products/ProSource Hard Charger Award for the night, advancing nine positions from 10th to 1st and also collected the most cumulative passes over the course of the two nights of feature racing with 14, earning a $200 Passing Master bonus from ProSource in the process.
Tyler Courtney came out of Ocala last year with two victories in two nights. Although 2020 didn't find the exact same winning results, the Indianapolis, Ind. driver and his Clauson-Marshall Racing/NOS Energy Drink - ZMax/Spike/Stanton SR-11x exited Winter Dirt Games XI with a fourth on Friday and a runner-up finish on Saturday.
"Unfortunately, when you start on the pole, you want to win because that's the best place to start," Courtney said. "It just wasn't in the plans this weekend. We came down here and won both races last year but weren't able to get it done this year. We're still learning a bit on the cars and stuff like that. We've got a really good racecar, but there's just a few things to do here and there. I'm really happy with (our car) and our whole Clauson-Marshall team. We're looking forward to the rest of the season."
Fresh off earning 2019 USAC National Midget Rookie of the Year honors, Collegeville, Pennsylvania's Andrew Layser stepped up his game to earn his best career series finish Saturday night with a third-place result in his Tucker-Boat Motorsports/Friedman-Schuman - Top To Bottom Solutions/Spike/Speedway Toyota.
"I can't thank (my crew) enough for all their hard work," Layser praised. "They're so precise on everything to make sure (teammate) Chris (Windom) and I have great cars every time. It's really exciting to put together my first podium finish and hopefully many more. Last year, I struggled with confidence a lot. To start off the season as well as we have is really huge. It started at the Chili Bowl where we had a lot of speed. I knew we were good last night, and it showed tonight."
In addition to Thorson's new one-lap track record earlier on Saturday night, Zeb Wise established the new standard for eight laps in a USAC NOS Energy Drink National Midget around Bubba Raceway Park at 1:52.636 during the first heat race.

HUMMER MOTORSPORTS ENTERS THREE 600 SPRINTS FOR EAST COAST DIRT NATIONALS IN TRENTON; BRIGHT BROTHERS, MIKE MAHANEY NAMES AS DRIVERS FOR THE FEB. 21-22 INDOOR RACES
TRENTON, NJ February 9, 2020 . . . Bob Hummer, Jr., a second generation race car driver and car owner, has entered three Hyper chassis cars in the third annual East Coast Dirt Nationals, with three high powered drivers capable of winning it all behind the wheel of them.
The third annual ‘Indoor Dirt Nationals’ return to CURE Insurance Arena in Trenton, NJ, on February 21–22 featuring nearly 100 wingless 600cc sprints on the indoor banked, clay oval.
Three-car team owner Hummer, 50, of Belvidere, NJ, has entered cars that will go to post with the Bright brothers, Alex and Brendan Bright of Collegeville. PA and Mike Mahaney of Plattsburgh, NY in the cockpits of his three meticulous prepared Micros.
Hummer has resurrected his father’s car number, No. R7, for the car Brendan Bright will drive while Mahaney’s will carry the No. XR7 designation. Alex Bright will wheel the No. 20.
The Bright brothers are experienced hands in 600 Sprint racing, both indoors and outdoors. Mahaney, a full-time dirt Modified racer, has run just four races in his career in the small-cars and none of them indoors.
“I know that racing a car for Bob means it will be a good, well prepared car,” Mahaney said, looking forward to the challenge.
“I don’t know much about indoor racing so I’ll be relying in my teammates a lot to get dialed in.”
Mahaney’s 2020 outdoor racing schedule with the Super DIRTcar Series big block and small block Modifieds will limit his opportunities to do many other small-car races during the outdoor season.
“I’ll be at Kutztown’s Action Track, schedule permitting, and try to make all of the big shows,” Mahaney qualified.
Bob Hummer, Sr. was a Dirt Modified driver in the ‘80s, but found that owning race cars and putting top drivers behind the wheel such as Brett Hearn and Jack Johnson was far more enjoyable than driving himself.
Hummer, Jr. has traveled a similar path, first racing go-karts, then moving into Micro Sprints.
“I got in pretty deep,” Hummer, Jr. said. “And then I decided to get out of it.”
And he stayed out, for 20 years, building Rodota Trucking, which his father had founded, into a regional trucking powerhouse.
Now, by Hummer’s own admission, he’s in “pretty deep” again into racing.
“Racing gets in your blood,” Hummer said. “It’s something I have always enjoyed and look forward to the East Coast Dirt Nationals for some good results.”
Alex and Brendan Bright drove for Hummer last year in 600 Sprints while Mahaney raced a SpeedSTR at Action Track, USA in Kutztown, PA under Hummer’s ownership.
Hummer said he will be further expanding his reach in the sport by fielding a second SpeedSTR for Billy Pauch, Sr. to drive on a regular basis at the new four-tenths mile Bridgeport Speedway. He will also get behind a 360 Sprint car initiative with Alex Bright. Specific 360 Sprint plans are in the process of being formulated by Hummer and Bright.
“I like helping younger drivers in their careers,” Hummer said, noting that in addition to the Bright brothers and Mahaney, Nash Ely has also driven for him in a 600 Sprint.
Whitey Kidd, III won the 2017 inaugural running of the East Coast Dirt Nationals while Erick Rudolph drove Tommy Fraschetta’s car to a win in the second running in December of 2018. This year, the event was moved away from the Christmas holidays to the weekend after the Daytona 500.
Hummer’s three car juggernaut is among a huge field expected or the third annual East Coast Dirt Nationals. The number of entries accepted will be 100, as dictated by building space constraints for the two day event.
Teams will arrive in Trenton on Thursday for closed door practice on the track which again be built with rich tacky black dustless class. On Friday, by the luck of a blind draw, the field will be split into 10 heat races. Those that start in the back will benefit by points given for each car passed.
The top 60 in heat race points are then divided into four A-Main qualifiers of which the top three transfer directly to Saturday’s 40 lap A-Main event paying $5,000 to the winner.
On Saturday all non-qualified drivers are split into qualifying races by their results on Friday. Each of these events, starting with twin letter F-Mains transfer four to the next main until two B-Mains are reached on the scheduled. In the final qualifiers, the top six transfer to the A-Main which will start 24 cars.
