Hafertepe Unchallenged With Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series At Creek County Speedway
Bryan Hulbert - SAPULPA, Okla. (October 12, 2019) Leading start to finish for his ninth victory of the season with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network, Sam Hafertepe, Jr. made it back-to-back wins in the John Christner Trucking Fall Fling presented by James Hodge Ford at Creek County Speedway.
Sam's 46th career National Tour victory, the Sunnyvale, Texas driver is now tied with Tim Crawley for fourth in overall wins.

"It's been a long time since I've been out of the front straightaway, I don't even remember what it feels like," chuckled Sam who reclaimed the National Tour point's lead by 14 markers.
Taking lessons from the COMP Cams Short Track Nationals presented by Hoosier Tire, Hafertepe was able to put his J&J Chassis anywhere he needed too throughout the 30-lap SawBlade.com A-Feature.
"This was an awesome Racecar. I don't think there was a better car here all night. We didn't touch it, we just left it alone, and we definitely got the balance back in this thing. It's back to a dominate Racecar and going to Devil's Bowl next week, that's one of my favorite tracks in the world. I can't wait for that."
Taking the lead from the right of the front row, Hafertepe was trailed by Tucker Doughty for the opening lap before Matt Covington shot in second. Opening his lead to nearly two seconds, Hafertepe's advantage dropped quickly as the leaders hit traffic on Lap 7.
Caution working Lap 9 for debris, Covington looked for a way around Hafertepe but with no success. Opening his advantage again, lapped traffic was of little issue for the Heidbreder Foundation No. 15h.
Under caution working Lap 28, slower cars in the mix shook things up behind Hafertepe as Roger Crockett moved by the No. 95 for second. With clean air to his advantage, Sam Hafertepe, Jr. raced to the finish with a 2.224-second advantage over Crockett's Route 66 Chevrolet No. 11. Battling a shower of power steering fluid over the final few laps that kept the No. 95 off the cushion, Matt Covington managed to hold on for his seventh podium finish of the season. Tyler Thomas in fourth was followed to the finish by Jordon Mallett.
A comeback night for Howard Moore, who had power steering issues early in the evening, the A.G. Rains owned No. 3 crossed sixth with Seth Bergman hard charging from 18th to seventh after racing ninth to second in the BMRS B-Feature. Blake Hahn picked up three spots to eighth with Robbie Price in ninth. After nearly going upside down on Lap 18, El Paso's John Carney II rebounded to a tenth-place finish.
A field of 34 was on hand for the John Christner Trucking Fall Fling presented by James Hodge Ford. Four SCE Gaskets Heat Races went to Matt Covington, Tyler Thomas, Sam Hafertepe, Jr., and Jordon Mallett. BRMS B-Feature was topped by Sean McClelland. One provisional was taken by Alex Hill.
The Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network returns to competition on Friday, October 18 and Saturday, October 19 at the famed Devi's Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas. Tickets are on sale now at www.devilsbowl.com.

WAYNESFIELD, Ohio - Leduc, Alberta, Canada's Skylar Gee had never competed at Waynesfield Raceway Park. But, he made his first appearance a good one, taking the lead on lap 34 and driving away to earn the $5,630 pay day for the 2nd Annual Bob Hampshire Classic.
The event, honoring the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame sprint car owner and mechanic, was the final race of 2019 for the FAST 410 Sprint Series. Cole Duncan, with his win the week prior, earned the series' championship.
The one-third mile high banked track lived up to its reputation as the 50-lap FAST feature saw several lead changes. Cap Henry led the first eight circuits with NASCAR Xfinity Star Christopher Bell taking over to lead laps 9-16 only to have Henry regain the top spot for a lap with Bell using heavy lapped traffic to move back into the lead on lap 18. Bell seemed to have the race in control when he spun in turn four while maneuvering through lapped traffic, falling back to 11th and handing the lead back to Henry. Gee, who had hung around the top five throughout the race, hunted down Henry and drove around him on lap 34. A caution with eight laps to go gave Henry one final shot, but Gee hit his marks perfectly and drove to the win.
"I struggled pretty hard the first half of the race. I started watching Christopher and then I seen DJ (Foos) poking his nose in there and it started to rubber up there a little and I started creeping and creeping and pretty soon we were pretty good and I could start cheating the wing forward. I got going pretty good in one and two and I had a good race with Cap....he raced me hard and clean. It was a lot of fun. I've never won a 50 lap race before so that's pretty cool. Hats off to Rob and Gary for working their asses off all night and all the fans for sticking out this cold," said Gee beside his Bluvos/Carlan Services/Pat Beck Motorsports/Strongs Crane Sales and Repair backed machine.
For Henry, the close of the 2019 season was bittersweet. "I thought we had a pretty good chance starting on the pole. It laid rubber and I was sure where to go. I think our worst finish here is third of fourth so I'm happy. This is a really cool place and it was a fun race," said Henry beside his Beer Barrel Bourbon sponsored #4.
Fremont, Ohio's DJ Foos, the 2019 Attica Fremont Championship Series titlist, also hung around the top five throughout the 50 lap feature and brought his Burmeister Racing machine home in third.
"I love coming to this place. I can't say enough about Shane Helms (promoter) and his gang. It's pretty bad ass to be racing here in October," said Foos of his Jet Express/CR Juices/Greer Automotive/Kistler Racing Products backed #16.
Milford, Ohio's Cody Gardner scored his first ever sprint car win at Waynesfield during the 11th Annual Jack Hewitt Classic early in July. Gardner proved that was no fluke, leading all 25 laps of the Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series feature for his second win. It wasn't easy as he had to hold off Landon Simon after a late race red. Matt Westfall wrapped up the 2019 BOSS championship the week prior with his win at Atomic Speedway.
"When I won the Jack Hewitt Classic it was unbelievable...I never thought that would happen. This place has always suited me for whatever reason. The way you have to drive here just works for me and we've always run good here. To be able to win both BOSS features here this year...I'm at a loss for words. I didn't know if I was running in the right place and when you get reds and yellows you start second guessing yourself wondering if you're in the right spot. Luckily we were. I heard Landon late in the race and I just had to buckle down and hit my marks and make him drive around me if he could," said Gardner beside his Pate Manufacturing/Advanced Racing Suspensions/Superior Bearing and Supply/Ashford Motorsports backed #9G.
Middletown, Ohio's Rod Henning, a two time Waynesfield track champion, stormed into the lead with five laps to go and drove away to claim the USAC D2 Thunder Midget/AMSA Mini Sprint feature over a Gunnar Lucius and Andy Baugh.
For the 50-lap FAST feature, Henry and Cale Conley brought the field to green with Henry grabbing the early advantage over Conley, Zeb Wise, Gee and Bell. Bell drove fifth to third on lap four and took second a circuit later. Bell quickly closed on Henry and drove into the lead on lap nine as the leaders entered heavy lapped traffic. Shawn Dancer slipped off the track on lap 11, necessitating a red as officials wanted to make sure he was safe. On the restart and with a clear track, Bell and Henry scooted away from a good battle for third between Conley and Wise with Gee staying within striking distance.
By lap 15 Henry had closed the gap on Bell and pounced on lap 17 to regain the lead only to have Bell return the slider the following lap to move back to the point with Conley, Gee, Foos and Wise in Pursuit. Heavy lapped traffic awaited the leaders by lap 20 but Bell was able to move through to maintain a slight lead over Henry with Gee moving into third.
Driving through turns three and four in traffic on lap 25, Bell got side ways, did a 360 and kept going, but dropped to 11th, moving Henry back to the lead over Gee, Conley, Foos and Wise. A caution on lap 32 for a Chad Kemenah spin put Gee right on Henry's rear bumper and on the restart Gee drove to his outside as the pair raced side by side with Gee finally taking the lead on lap 34.
Gee was able to pull away slightly from Henry over the next hand full of laps while Conley was battling Foos and Duncan for third. With 10 laps to go, Stuart Brubaker spun, putting Henry once again on Gee's rear bumper. Kemenah would spin again on lap 42, setting up an eight lap shoot out. On the restart Gee and Henry pulled away from Foos while Conley battled with Bell for fourth. With six laps to go, Henry took several looks to the inside of Gee but couldn't make the pass. Gee went on to take the win over Henry, Foos, Conley and Bell.
John Ivy and Cody Gardner brought the field to green for the 25-lap BOSS non-wing sprint car feature with Gardner jumping into the lead over Toby Alfrey, Ivy, Cory Crabtree and Landon Simon. While Gardner pulled away, the battle for second quickly heated up between Alfrey, Ivy and Simon. Simon was able to secure the runner-up spot on lap nine and closed on Gardner with Ivy moving into third.
Gardner and Simon ran nose to tail over the next hand full of laps until the first caution flew on lap 17 when Alfrey had trouble getting back to the pits. On the ensuing restart a multi-car crash saw Dallas Hewitt flip but walk away uninjured. When the green flew Simon kept the pressure on Gardner but was unable to drive to the lead.
Gardner hit his marks perfectly and took the checkers over Simon, Ivy, Ricky Peterson and Max Adams.
The 20-lap mini sprint feature was exciting as Chris Bounds and Andy Baugh battled throughout the first 14 laps. Henning, who started sixth, had steadily worked his way forward and a three car battle ensued for the lead with Henning taking the point on lap 15. Henning drove away to the win over a charger Gunnar Lucius and Baugh.

NEUMAN SURVIVES MARION MAYHEM, WINS AGAIN WITH TEAM RIPPER
MARION, ILL. (October 12, 2019) - Saturday's Southern Illinois Shootout was a wild one from start-to-finish for the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League. Encountering the 1/8th-mile Southern Illinois Raceway for the first and only time this season, drivers faced a rough and rowdy surface with character aplenty. Four different leaders stood at the front, some slipped back and some stormed forward, but through all of the chaos and carnage it was Jake Neuman and Team Ripper capitalizing late and finding victory lane once again.
Swarmed by several inches of rain on Thursday and Friday, Mother Nature left a signature mark on the SIR short track as the POWRi National Midgets rode into town for their lone appearance of 2019. From hot laps to feature action, it was a cowboy up kind of track with holes grabbing drivers, bumps shaking 'em up, ruts throwing 'em around and surprises around each corner.
Going green for the 30-lap main event, Jesse Colwell of Red Bluff, Calif. quickly put his right foot down and hammered around polesitter Tyler Courtney to gain initial command of the lead. Entering with the championship lead under his own control, Colwell set sail with a focus on keeping his nose clean aboard the Keith Kunz Motorsports, IWX Motor Freight, Bullet/Toyota No. 71.
Lap traffic on lap five quickly threw a wrench into that plan as Colwell dealt with backmarkers in front of him and a furiously fast Courtney hot on his tail. A lap eight side-by-side bout nearly ended in chaos when Colwell closed the door on Courtney into turn three and launched out of a hole into a lapper, but luckily his No. 71 mount recovered and kept control of the top spot before third-running Cannon McIntosh brought out the red flag with a gnarly turn one flip off the fence.
Back to green on lap nine, Courtney successfully attacked Colwell as he bobbled, moving the Clauson-Marshall Racing, NOS Energy Drink, Spike/SR-11 No. 17JR to the point. "Sunshine," a two-time winner POWRi competition, drove off into lap traffic through the middle stages while Colwell dropped at the hands of his KKM teammates, Tanner Carrick and Holley Hollan.
At the halfway mark, Colwell's No. 71 slowed to a halt in turn two to bring out the caution and throw some serious championship implications into the fray as he went to the pit area with a mechanical issue. Returning to racing with ten to go, Courtney continued to lead Carrick while Chris Andrews of Tulsa, Okla. made it by Hollan for the third spot.
Coming together in a fight for the top spot, Colwell and Courtney collided off turn four on the 23rd circuit. They both kept it together and held onto 1st and 2nd, but the damage was already done. Over the next lap, Carrick's front end folded on the Keith Kunz Motorsports, Walker Filters, Craftsman No. 71K and then Courtney's left rear went flat, eliminating both contenders from the show.
Inheriting the lead with eight laps left, Chris Andrews commanded the field in a Jim Miller owned No. 95 entry. The chaos quickly resumed, however, as Andrews' bid for a breakthrough first-career National Midget win were shattered just three-quarters of a lap later, when contact between he and Jake Neuman shot the No. 95 around and to a stop.
The final restart saw Neuman fire the field with Andrew Felker and a hard-charging Buddy Kofoid at his heels. Neuman took the conservative route around the inside, but Buddy, who was making his first-ever POWRi National Midget start, was going all-out after making it to the front from 17th. Kofoid was a show in-and-of himself over the final eight laps while running high, biking big and smashing the gas in pursuit of Neuman, a race that he would make close, but ultimately fall just short of stealing.
At the checkered flag, it was Jake Neuman of New Berlin, Ill. withstanding the chaos and winning the Southern Illinois Shootout at SIR from the 11th spot. Marking his sixth career POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League victory, tonight's triumph was Neuman's fourth of 2019, a season which has proved to be the best of his career. Driving the Team Ripper No. 21KS, Neuman and crew chief Flea Ruzic have made five starts together since September with two wins coming their way.
Buddy Kofoid of Penngrove, Calif. left a lasting first impression on the POWRi National Midget ranks in his league debut at SIR. Falling short of the victory, the teenage sensation delivered a remarkable 17th-to-2nd run aboard the Keith Kunz Motorsports, Toyota Racing No. 97 and made his name known across the midget racing landscape.
Andrew Felker, the 2012 POWRi National Midget champ and current POWRi West points leader, rounded out the podium with a third-place showing in the Chad Shields Racing, MelMark Pipe & Supply, Ripper/Fontana No. 44S. Closing out the top five at SIR was a pair of KKM teammates with 14-year old Daison Pursley finishing fourth in the Toyota Racing No. 9 and the record-chasing Logan Seavey in fifth with the Mobil 1 No. 67.
Finishing inside the top ten was Tucker Klaasmeyer of Paola, Kans. in sixth, Kyle Jones of Kennedale, Tex. in seventh for the TriFecta Motorsorts No. 7U, championship contender Zach Daum in eighht-from-19th, midget rookie Kameron Key in ninth-from-18th, and Jesse Love in tenth-from-23rd.
Daison Pursley (Auto Meter Heat 1), Logan Seavey (KSE Racing Products Heat 2), Tyler Courtney (Advanced Racing Suspensions Heat 3) and Tanner Carrick (Schoenfeld Headers Heat 4) topped heat race action. Buddy Kofoid won the Rod End Supply B-Main.

BECHTELSVILLE, PA (October 11, 2019) – The NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series returns to Grandview Speedway on Saturday, October 19 for a Triple Thunder Thriller featuring the Big-Block/358 Modifieds, Sportsman and MASS Sprint Car Series.
General Admission tickets are $25 for Adults, $10 for children age 6 through 11, and kids under 6 are FREE! Pit Admission is $40, and no license is required. Racing gets underway at 6:00 PM.
A deep roster is filled with the region’s top racers, leaving us to wonder which drivers will get a trick – and which driver will receive the $5,000 treat after the Modified Traffic JAM.
Pre-registered entries include Grandview regular ghouls Duane Howard, Craig VonDohren, Rick Laubach, Doug Manmiller, and Mike Gular. While outside invaders like Richie Pratt, Jr., Billy Pauch, Jr. are set to haunt ‘The Hill.’ Also pre-entered is 2018 Traffic JAM winner, Ryan Watt.
A special rules package is offered to competitors, with both American Racer and Hoosier tires allowed for competition, along with either Big-Block or Spec Small-Block engine combinations. There is no entry cost but drivers must pre-enter to be eligible for the posted payoff. Drivers may pre-enter by calling 443-513-4456. Modified drivers are required to pre-enter to be eligible for the posted payoff and bonus money.
The popular Sportsman division is also on the card, competing for a $1,300 top prize for 25-laps of competition on ‘the hill.’ The same tire rule is in effect for the Sportsman – competitors are allowed to compete on Hoosier or American Racer rubber. Standard Grandview Sportsman rules are in effect and competitors are permitted to run sail panels. Full rules are available on the Grandview Speedway website.
The MASS Sprint Cars will compete in heat race qualifying action and a 25-lap A-Main. Standard MASS club rules apply to competitors. Rookie Sprint Car Driver Ricky Dieva currently leads the MASS Sprint Car Series point standing with Tim Tanner, Jr. in second and Eddie Wagner in third.
Advance tickets are available by calling 443-513-4456. Please speak clearly and leave your name and the number of tickets you would like. Tickets may be paid for and picked up at the Will Call Window on race night after 3:00 PM. Advance ticket holders may enter the grandstands at 3:30 PM, one-half hour before general admission tickets going on sale at 4 PM. Advance tickets orders will be available until 9 AM on race day, Saturday, October 19 with general admission tickets go on sale at 4 PM.
Fans are invited to come dressed for the occasion, Halloween costumes will be popular attire for the night with awards going out to best dressed for children and adults. Please expect some Halloween candy and of course, this night always provides some tricks and treats along the way.
The NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series Halloween Party has been a staple of the Grandview Speedway schedule for over 16 years and will once again include the fan Costume parade. Race fans young and old are encouraged to dress in costume to be eligible for special Halloween prizes.
‘Joe the Pizza Dude’ will offer up hot, delicious, and FREE pizzas to the rowdiest of race fans before the action kicks off. Make some noise when ‘The Pizza Dude’ comes around, to earn yourself a free pizza!.
