WINDOM WINS HOCKETT/MCMILLIN MEMORIAL CROWN
WHEATLAND, MO. (September 21, 2019) - Chris Windom of Canton, Ill. become the eighth different POWRi Lucas Oil WAR Sprint League champion of the Jesse Hockett / Daniel McMillin Memorial on Saturday night. Leading all 30 laps, his title aboard the Goacher Racing No. 5G gives Windom his fifth-career WAR Sprints win and sends him home with the money, check and trophy from one of the biggest WAR races on the calendar.
It was a night hampered by Mother Nature's sudden downpour of rain at 5:00pm, dousing the track and soaking the pits with intent on literally raining on our parade. However, the staff at Lucas Oil Speedway were firm and committed to running this show for a packed house of fans, so they went to work on the facility and we pulled cars to the track for wheel pack.
After a few hours of track work with endless effort, hot laps rolled out and the program began taking shape. For the WAR Sprints, a slate of four Rocket Races won by Anthony Nicholson, Kory Schudy, Landon Simon and Colten Cottle transferred eight to the main event, splitting others to B-Mains and a Non-Qualifier Race.
In the Pole Shuffle, Chris Windom outlasted Brady Bacon, Zach Daum and Logan Seavey in the final round to earn the pole position of the 30-lapper. Riley Kreisel and Thomas Meseraull snagged a pair of B-Main wins, bringing the 24-car field it's final six transfers.
Taking the green flag in the Hockett/McMillin Memorial main event, Windom gunned to the early lead, but Bacon was quick to present a challenge. Leading the opening circuit, Windom slipped high off turn two the next go round and allowed Bacon to drive underneath and actually pass him for the lead down the backstretch. However, Windom was quick to recover and instantly shot back by on the low side of turns three and four.
A caution bunched the field up and sent them back off as Windom paced Bacon, Wyatt Burks, Zach Daum and Logan Seavey. Entering the mid-race stage, Bacon was continuing to keep Windom honest, trailing him closely and waiting to pounce on any given mistake.
Racing into lap traffic past halfway, Bacon began to lose sight of the No. 5G as Windom's prowess of maneuvering through the backmarkers proved too impressive to compete with. As Bacon became bobbled with a pair of lappers, Windom's lead began to expand and grow lap-after-lap.
In the end, Chris Windom would run away in the second half, going unchallenged for a dominant score to win the ninth annual Jesse Hockett / Daniel McMillin Memorial title. The win aboard his Goacher Racing No. 5G marks Windom's fifth-career POWRi Lucas Oil WAR Sprint League victory.
Brady Bacon of Broken Arrow, Okla. came home with a close second-place finish, Logan Seavey of Sutter, Calif. rounded out the podium in the Donnie Cooper No. 01, Wyatt Burks and Garrett Aitken closed out the top five finishers.
The conclusion of the ninth annual Jesse Hockett / Daniel McMillin Memorial also wraps up the 2019 POWRi Lucas Oil WAR Sprint League season. Hamlin, PA- Hamlin Speedway Ends Another Great Season With Seven Thrilling Feature Events
The Hamlin Speedway closed their regular racing season last evening. The in-place to be was loaded with tremendous racing activity last evening and was able to run through the evening and have a great night at the speedway. The crowd was up and the roster a solid one as once again the X-Cel Modifieds were part of the final show race card for the season. Once again the Smith Fanily was off and running with some superb heat racing action and eight great feature events. The racing action at the 1/5th mile clay-cushioned facility has been remarkable with many outstanding driving personalities carving out their own claim to fame in weekly competition for age groups from 8 to 60 plus.
The 2019 season is now complete after eighteen weeks of over the top racing action taking place. Recapping the action on Saturday had some of the drivers showing what they have done all season at Hamlin, get to the front and stay there until the checkered flag waves. Kasey Hufcut, a New Yorker, made a big impact this season with some drives to the front and he captured the Junior Slingshot action once again. Some scrambling towards the end had "The Traveling Man" Mick D'Agostino in the wnner's circle in the Regular 600 main event. The Rookie main event for the 600 Sprints was captured by invader Morgan Richelle. Rookie Slingshot star James Benz had the lead, lost the lead and then roared back to claim his first win of the season in the All Star Slingshot field. Tanner VanDoren was quick from the greeen flag and went on to claim the win in the Hampton RV & Trailer Sales Stage One Modifieds. Greg Zellman is only a part-time performer at Hamlin but he was johnny on the spot last evening when the two cars in front of him faltered after the halfway point of the event and he went on to capture the Super Slingshot win. The X-Cel Modified feature winner was found to be illegal and then the second place man was as well so Shawna Schibilia who thought she finished in third place now became the winner of the X-Cel Modified feature event.
Pole Sitter Tanner VanDoren took command of the Stage One feature at the start and quickly carved out a huge lead over the rest of the field. Third place starting Amanda Buchel had a quick race car at her as she quickly moved into the runner-up slot. With VanDoren way ahead of the field, all eyes remained on the run for second place as both Buchel race cars (Amanda and Adam) were behind him along with a guy who hadn't raced in over five years Kyle "Hot Rod" Rode and "Mighty" Mike Samony. The particular vewrsion of the event was an eye catcher for the fans who truly enjoy the closeness of the close knit action at Hamlin. Van Doren was the winner with Amanda and Adman Buchel following with Kyle Rode, Michael Samony and Jeff Hineline completing the top six. Anthony Chrobak headed up the next spots with John Bachetti, Joel Price and Mark Evans following.
In the Super Slingshots, "The Oxford Express" Dale Kober was all business as he took the lead at the start and was able to carve some huge distance between he and second place runner Paul Ennes. As the pair raced far in front of the field, smoke began billowing out of the Kober race car. Ennes at that point pulled in front of the pit exit and shut off, calling for a restart. Before the restart could ensue, Kober pulled to the infield with some major problems on his race car. Third place man Greg Zellman, through the process of elimination, now found himself leading the field around the Hamlin clay. Zellman would earn the win over Wally Bell, Jim Conroy, Alan Kober, David Guest, Mark Exeter and Jeremy Hoffman in the top seven.
The Rookie feature for the 600 Sprints began with Morgan Rochelle showing the hot hand from the center of the raceway. "The Ry-Guy" Ryan Stangle made his return to the speedway a successful one as he was glued in as the runner-up in this one. Michael Nolf, who is one of the surprises of the year, was a tick off and managed third place in this one. Jacob Eby began from last place but moved through the field to end up in fourth place. Last week's winner Tony Parlanti finished fifth. Victor Cleary headed up the second five with Rich Maguire, Dennis Chamberlain, Jason Garcia, and "Pops" Carmen Leggio completing the top ten.
In the regular event for the 600 Sprints Noah Zielinski took the lead and began to carve out a nice lead on the field. Tyler Lindsay made some bold and exciting moves to slide into the runner-up status with Zack Weisenfluh, Mick D'Agostino Chad Sandt and Ryan Stangle really having a go at it for positions. Disaster struck Zielinski as passing lapped cars became entangled with one of them and forced to go to the rear of the field. Times move fast and D'Agostino came away with the lead and raced away to the checkered flag on this one. Tyler Lindsay would finish second with Zack Weisenfluh third Chad Sandt fourth and Ryan Stangle residing in fifth place, a crazy finish to an exciting event at the speedway. The seocnd five was headed up by Mack Brink, Brandon Nicholas, Noah Zielinski, the returning Zach Bealer and Dennis Stawinsky.
The Junior Slingshot found Kasey Hufcut taking the lead and quickly stepping away form the field. Charlene Benz was solid in the runner-up role. Behind her the drivers were jockeying for position with Aiden Elliott, Aiden Donaldson, RJ Sherman and James Hendricks having a great go at it. Hufcut would go on for the win with Benz in second place. Elliott would remain in third place with Donaldson, Sherman and Hendricks following. Chase Zimmer raced to seventh in this one with last week's winner Doug Smith in eighth, Matthew BAckus ninth and Isabella VanOrden in tenth.
The All Star Slingshot event began with James benz leading for a lap before giving way to Brian Smith. Smith would go on and lead until lap twelve grabbing the lead from the pole position. On lap thirteen Benz would muster up the power and get by Smith with an insdie move in turn three. Once in front Benz remained there until the checkered flag was displayed. Shelby McLaughlin was fast and was precise on the speedway and quickly moved into second place where she chased Benz until the race was completed. Scott Neary borrowed a car last night and was third with it. Brain Smith was fourth with Andrew Turpin steady in fifth place.Paul Ennes was sixth with Joey Kalafut, Ashley Kober, Justin Newhard and Wally Bell completing the top ten.
In what would be a run for naught Jared Green and Brett Gray would duke it out over twenty laps with Green receiving the checkered flag. As Yogi Berra once proclaimed, "It ain't over till it's over" things changed quickly from the end of the event as neither Green nor Gray paased through the rigid inspection process and both were deemed illegal for the evening and thus handing the win to third place runner Shawna Schibilia. A shuffle in the finish had Zane Roth, Ivan Forney, Travis Fichter and Aiyden Morgan following.
Pearl Jams:
The track was racy from start to finish and Track Promoter Randy Smith continued to work on the speedway as necessary for the activity on the speedway was non-stop but very racy throughout. Randy Smith keeps doing remarkable work at the speedway with as many as five grooves on the speedway for the racers and a dust free environment.
James Benz and Amber Baccaligni captured the heat wins for the All Star Slingshots. The Junior Slingshot heats went to Aiden Elliott and Kasey Hufcut The Stage One Modifieds ran two heat events with Tanner VanDoren and Adam Buchel the winners and the Super Slinger heat found Dale Kober at the head of the pack. The JPA Masonry Wingless heats were claimed by "Bad" Chad Sandt and Mick D'Agostino. The JPA Masonry Rookie 600 Sprints ran two heats and Morgan Rochelle and Michael Nolf were victorious. The X-Cel heats were captured by Jared Green and Brandon Graner
"The Ambassador" Wes Hearn and his son Wesley were at the controls of the flags last night at the speedway as regular flagger Russ Furry is still hobbled by injuries he suffered at his regular job but was still in attendance at the speedway.
Fred Johnson captured the 50/50 last evening.
Dale Borger who heads up the X-Cel Modified division was on hand last evening and did the checking on the cars to see if they were legal or as he found out not. Borger did explain that some of the cars race in New York and use different rules but the cars in question did not comply to X-Cel Modified rules.
Amber Baccaligni's grandmother passed away on Tuesday and Amber requested and granted the privilege to pay tribute to her prior to her feature event. The speedway sends condolences to the Baccaligni Family with her passing
Another great crowd on hand for the night of racing. Thank you folks and make sure you tell your friends about Hamlin Speedway, the "Pearl in the Poconos." Please make sure you look at the sites invovled with Hamlin Speedway. There just may be another event at the speedway this coming week.
Thanks to everyone who came to play a part in the action at Hamlin this season. The racing was superb all season long in every division and just proves the point that excitement is established at ground level no matter what the size of the facility it is. To the Smith Family, thank you for taking the Hamlin Speedway far beyond it's capacity.

SHOWDOWN JACKPOT: Brad Sweet wins Dodge City doubleheader finale
Sweets gets his 49th career World of Outlaws win in the No. 49 Kasey Kahne Racing car
DODGE CITY, KS – Sept. 21, 2019 – Brad Sweet eyed redemption Saturday night at Dodge City Raceway Park.
After losing 18 points to championship contender Donny Schatz during the first round of the Outlaw Boot Hill Showdown doubleheader at the raceway Friday night, Sweet looked to be dealt a new hand in round two.
He got it and played it, leading all 31 laps – due to a green-white-checkered – to claim his first Dodge City Raceway Park victory, his 15th World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series win of the season and the $12,000-to-win pot.
“This hasn’t been my best track, so to get a win here I think is one of those things where we have to take the positive here and just move on to the next one and keep focused on what we’re doing here,” Sweet said. “Sometimes it seems like we’re getting a little off track or getting a little confused and trying things and we just need to stick to what we know and finish the year as strong as possible.”
The biggest turning point of the night for him was his Drydene Heat race performance. Sweet had qualified 12th – worse than his 10th-place qualifying run Friday night. That placed the Kasey Kahne Racing driver fourth in his Heat race. However, on the start, “The Big Cat” was ready to pounce. He sprinted by the third and second-place car on the first lap and held on to second, racing his way into the DIRTVision Fast Pass Dash.
The Dash draw – with the pole position and the sixth-place starting position still available – came down to Schatz and Sweet. Schatz drew the number six, leaving the pole for the Californian.
Sweet went on to win the Dash, while Schatz, who won Friday night’s race, put on a show behind him. With the help of a few slide jobs, Schatz raced his way to third, lining himself up directly behind Sweet for the 30-lap Feature.
When the green flag hit the air Sweet sprinted to the lead over second-place Ian Madsen. Schatz couldn’t keep up. He found himself in a duel with Sheldon Haudenschild for third-place. The young Ohio-native stole the position from Schatz on the first lap. The reigning champion threw a slide job at Haudenschild into turn one the next lap to take the spot back, but Haudenschild powered back by him down the backstretch.
Sweet hit lap traffic by Lap 6. Most of the slower cars ran low allowing Sweet to hold his line up high and cruise by them. Others blocked his line, forcing him to either slow his entry to not hit them or choose an alternative route around them.
The traffic allowed Madsen to close on Sweet, but also slowed him at times, too.
On Lap 9 the No. 91 of Jeff Stasa blocked Haudenschild’s run into turn two, forcing him to hit the brakes. While the NOS Energy Drink No. 17 slowed, Schatz stayed in the throttle and darted by Haudenschild to reclaim third.
Along with the slower cars, drivers also had to battle the high winds racing around the track.
“The car just does two completely different things at both ends here,” Sweet said. “Driving into the wind you feel like you have tons of down force and the car lays left and when you’re going away from the wind the car wants to pick up and do some crazy stuff. It was definitely good to be out front. Clean air was definitely a bonus tonight.”
The first caution of the night came out on Lap 17 for the No. 9x of Jake Bubak blowing a right rear tire and coming to a stop in turn two. Sweet now had Madsen – hungry for a win with his last one coming in March – at his rear bumper.
However, the NAPA Auto Parts No. 49 car was strong on restarts. Sweet hammered the throttle, blasting through the tunnel of wind, and shot back to a straightaway lead over the Australian driver.
When Sweet hit lap traffic again Madsen and Schatz closed the gap. But once Sweet was back in clean air, he continued to distance himself from the Aspen Air No. 18 of Ian Madsen and Toco Warranty No. 15 of Schatz.
On the final lap of the race, with the victory in sight, red lights flashed around the raceway. Dominic Scelzi flipped in turn three, bringing out the red flag. Madsen had another shot at the win.
The pressure didn’t get to Sweet, though. He said he kept his composure and continued to run his race.
“I think I did a pretty good job at it,” Sweet said.
He did. When the green flag flew for the final time, Sweet gapped Madsen by about three car lengths and drove off with the win. Madsen had to settle for second and Schatz third.
Madsen admitted he knew he didn’t have anything for Sweet on the final restart. He could catch him in lap traffic but once Sweet was in clean air it was tough to close in.
“It’s really tough out here to beat anyone in clean air,” Madsen said. “But it’s an awesome result for us tonight, to get up on the podium. We’ve had some bad luck lately. It’s great to be back up here.”
Schatz also stated he felt like he had a chance to catch Madsen and Sweet in traffic, but every time he got close the caution came out.
“That’s the way it goes,” he said. “That’s racing. You’ve got to be consistent on the days you can’t win and today is one of them days.”
Sweet’s win helped him gain six points on Schatz in the championship standings. With 13 races left this season, Schatz now leads Sweet by 22 points.
The victory also saw another big achievement for Sweet. He won his 49th career World of Outlaws victory driving the No. 49 Kasey Kahne Racing car.
“It’s actually really cool,” Sweet said. “I never would have imagined that I would get close to fifty World of Outlaws wins, so it’s a milestone to be proud of for myself, for Kasey giving me the opportunity to be on the Outlaw tour for six years with his team.
“I’ve had a lot of crew chiefs and a lot of ups and downs through it all, so to be having this season is what we all strive for and what we knew we were able to accomplish. So, it’s nice to get those stats. Hopefully it’s just one of the many milestones that will pass through in my career.”

Blake Hahn Wins The 9th Annual Jesse Hockett/Daniel McMillin Memorial
Bryan Hulbert - WHEATLAND, Mo. ( September 21, 2019) One win deserves another, and Blake Hahn made it one of the biggest of his career; leading start to finish for Saturday's $10,000 score in the 9th annual Hockett/McMillin Memorial with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network.
Hahn's ninth career SawBlade.com A-Feature victory with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network, the triumph was enough to retake the series point's lead from Sam Hafertepe, Jr. by 20 markers. Hitting the turn-four wall in his Last Chance Qualifier, Hafertepe's night ended one spot shy of a transfer into the A-Feature.

"I want to thank the fans for hanging out for this awesome, long race," stated Hahn of then night's program, which was nearly claimed by Mother Nature following a late afternoon downpour that delayed the Hockett/McMillin Memorial finale over two hours.
Grabbing the cushion from the start, Hahn pulled away from pole sitter, Josh Baughman, before the caution lights blinked on with three laps complete for Brinton Marvel. Keeping pace with Hahn on the restart, Blake tried the bottom through turns three and four, nearly allowing the No. 17 to get a run before finally moving to the top at both ends of the Lucas Oil Speedway.
Getting into traffic with 10 laps complete, Hahn began searching for lines as Derek Hagar closed in to challenge for second.
Getting the run under the No. 17 on Lap 14, Hagar pushed through the fourth turn; tagging Baughman's left front tire and sending him flying up the track. Avoiding the flip and the wall, Baughman recovered in seventh.
Taking advantage of the situation, Dylan Westbrook peddled by Hagar on Lap 17.
Reeling in Hahn numerous times as the pair weaved through traffic, the Sage Fruit, Co. No, 52 was able to keep the No. 47x at bay all the way to Lap 35. Peeling off the cushion to clear a slower car in the third and fourth turns, Hahn pushed up the track and into the path of Westbrook. With no time to react, the two front runners slammed right rear to left rear; sending Hahn over the hood of the No. 47x, who in turn, flipped off the exit of turn four.
"I hate to see anybody turn upside down," stated Hahn. "I was trying to get underneath some lapped cars and got into the slop down on the bottom and just pushed up in front of him. It was my fault."
Able to keep rolling, Hahn was pursued on the restart by Pennsylvania's Mark Smith.
Committed the bottom of the three-eighths-mile oval, Smith tried for the lead but couldn't make it work as Hahn ran away over the final five laps to a 2.271 seconds advantage over the No. M1 with Brady Bacon hard charging through the field from 16th to complete the podium. Derek Hagar would slip to fourth with Seth Bergman making a charge through the field from 10th to complete the top five.
Racing his way in through a B-Feature, Matt Covington made up for two rough nights to open his Hockett/McMillin Memorial with a run from 17th to sixth. Paul Nienhiser crossed seventh, followed by Jonathan Cornell who moved up to eighth from 13th. Ayton Gennetten in ninth was trailed by Roger Crockett in tenth.
Overall, the weekend saw 71 drivers in attendance from 15 states, as well as drivers from Canada and Australia. The combined attendance of both classes put the overall at 132 Sprint Cars.
The next event for the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series is the John Christner Trucking Fall Fling Presented by James Hodge Ford at Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, Okla. on Friday, October 11 and Saturday, October 12. Opening at 5:30 P.M. followed by Hot Laps at 7:00 P.M. with racing at 7:30 P.M. (CT) both nights, Friday's show with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network will offer up $3,000 to win, $400 to start with Saturday upping the bounty to $4,000 to win, $400 to start.

Brian Montieth gets by Aaron Reutzel to score Dirt Classic 6 victory worth $20,000
ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. (September 22, 2019) - Earning a second $20,000 Dirt Classic victory at the ‘Fabulous’ Lincoln Speedway is a feat in itself, but to hold back a hard-charging Danny Dietrich, as well as one the nation’s leading sprint car winners, Aaron Reutzel, in the process is down right impressive.
Known as ‘The Edge,’ Brian Montieth, a name certainly synonymous with victories and championships in the Pigeon Hills, accomplished such a feat, leading the final 16 circuits on Saturday night, September 21, to secure his place in Dirt Classic history, again.
“The boys do all of their homework. I’m just the lucky one who gets to stand up here,” a humble Brian Montieth said in Lincoln Speedway victory lane, who earned his first Dirt Classic title in 2015. “All the work is done at the shop through the week. I just can’t thank everyone enough.”
Although starting from the pole position, Montieth, driver of the H&H Contractor/XXX Chassis/Beerhill Gang/No. 21 sprint car, did not take command for the first time until lap 25, wrapping-up what turned out to be a 24-lap battle with recent Tommy Classic winner and current Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 point leader, Aaron Reutzel.
Utilizing his well-known line around the outer edge of the speedway, Montieth stalked Reutzel lap after lap before executing his winning move in turns three and four, eventually slingshotting around the 14-time All Star Circuit of Champions winner in 2019 to take control before the leaders raced back to the flatstand.
A red flag period on lap 11 for Dillsburg’s Anthony Macri, who was battling within the top-five at the time of the caution, incidentally set the stage for Montieth’s eventual takeover. The ensuing restart allowed Reutzel the opportunity to control in clean air, but Montieth stayed in his tracks, eventually knocking down Reutzel’s command that pushed to 1.5 seconds on lap 17 to less than a second by lap 20.
By lap 21, the top-two, as well as Dietrich, who raced into third from 18th on lap 13, were under a blanket. With slower traffic now creating a road black for Reutzel around the bottom of the speedway, Montieth jumped to the top and made his move, executing his slingshot action in turn three of lap 25.
“This is great for the team leading into the next few weeks,” Brian Montieth said. “Honestly, leading here sucks in lapped traffic. Aaron (Reutzel) was doing everything he had to do. I just got lucky and was able to get around him.”
Using a last lap pass to also get around Aaron Reutzel, Dietrich chased Montieth to the final checkers, followed by Reutzel, Freddie Rahmer and Brian Brown. The All Star triumph bumps Montieth’s win total to five with the Series, four of which at Lincoln Speedway.
“Love me or hate me, sounds like everyone enjoyed that one,” an elated Danny Dietrich said. “I feel like all we can do is run second here. Maybe next year we can do one better.”
A quick drive south of the Mason-Dixon will lead the All Star Circuit of Champions to their third and final destination of the weekend: Hagerstown Speedway in Hagerstown, Maryland. Although a staple on the annual Pennsylvania Sprint Speedweek schedule, Hagerstown Speedway has not hosted an All Star program since 1983, but that will change on Sunday, September 22, when the Series invades for a shot at $5,000.

MIKE GULAR RETURNS “HOME” FOR A $25K WIN IN FIRST FREEDOM 76 VICTORY AT GRANDVIEW
49TH EDITION OF THE CLASSIC DRAWS MORE THAN 60 MODIFIEDS AND BIG CROWD
BECHTELSVILLE, PA. September 22, 2019 . . . Veteran racer Mike Gular returned to his “home track” of Grandview Speedway on Saturday night to participate in the running of the 49th Annual Freedom 76-lap T.P. Trailers 358 Modified feature which netted him $25,000 plus lap money as the winner.
The 2018 defending point champion accomplished the goal he set out to achieve last year which was a point title. The 2019 season saw the Sassamansville, PA speedster venture to other tracks as a learning experience in which he did quite well despite the long haul to New York.
Gular, who started seventh in a field of 31 competitors, moved into third on the fourth lap and made a bold move when Frank Cozze and Rick Laubach running first and second got bottled up behind lap traffic. T.J. Lily broke right at the finish line causing the top three to scramble. Gular saw an opportunity open and shot into the lead just as the yellow came out on the 19th lap. Gular maintained the lead on the restart and held off the challenges of Cozze and later eventual runner-up Laubach on the three restarts needed once he was in front. When the checkered unfurled Gular proved he still knew his way around the 1/3-mile oval and pulled into victory lane for a well-earned triumph. It was a “dream come true” for Gular and the team since it was something he wanted to win for several years.
In addition to monetary awards from T.P. Trailers and product certificates from VP Fuels provided he sported the proper decals, Gular received the Dan’s Deli ½-way hoagie award and a Bob Hilbert Sportswear jacket. Craig Von Dohren, who finished sixth after starting 29th having to get into the field via the Minuteman 20, received $500 from fellow driver Bobby Gunther Walsh and his sponsors as the Hard Charger of the race.
Through the luck of the draw Cozze, a guaranteed starter by finishing second in the Forrest Rogers Memorial a race won by 2019 point champion Duane Howard which also earned him guaranteed position, grabbed the early lead trailed by Laubach, Billy Pauch Jr., Ryan Beltz and Gular.
Beltz, while running fourth, spun into the backstretch infield for the first yellow on the third lap. The previous lap Pauch Jr., third place runner, pulled out of competition. Cozze held onto the lead when action resumed with Laubach trying every which way to get around him.
The top there comprised of Cozze, Laubach and Gular, scrambled on the 19th lap yellow when Lilly broke on the homestretch. Gular saw an opening just before the yellow was thrown to overtake the lead as the trio crossed the line. Second through fifth with Gular at the head of the pack when action went green again was now comprised of Cozze, Jared Umbenhauer, Laubach and defending race winner Howard. Trying to get into the top five was Brett Kressley and he did that on the 30th lap.
By the half-way marker Gular distanced himself from the competition with Cozze, Laubach, Brett Kressley and Umbenhauer in tow having a four-way battle for second. Right in the thick of the action was Doug Manmiller in sixth and by the 56th lap he overtook Kressley for fifth.
Kressley, in sixth, spun in the second turn with a flat tire for the 68th lap yellow, but Gular still maintained the number one position on the restart.
A multi-car tangle between turns three and four brought out the yellow with 69 laps in the books. Gular wasted no time pulling away on the restart as he knew now Laubach, Manmiller, Cozze, Howard and Von Dohren wanted to change the order.
Gular stuck to the bottom trek while Laubach attempted to overtake him running the top lane.
Gular never gave up the lead and went on to claim the biggest win of his career. Chasing him across the line were Laubach, Manmiller, Cozze and Howard. Rounding out the top ten were Von Dohren, Jeff Strunk, Umbenhauer, Mike Lisowski and Bobby Varin.
Kressley, Colt Harris, Nick Rochinski, Beltz, Ray Swinehart and Umbenhauer won the six 12-lap qualifying heats. The two consies in which three from each advanced to the Schaeffer’s Motorsports Minuteman 20 were won by Von Dohren and Glenn Strunk. Bobby Varin won the non-stop Minuteman Man 20 with Billy Osmun III, Richie Pratt, Ryan Watt and Von Dohren also getting into the Freedom 76.
Howard also picked up an additional $1,000 and a Penske Shocks certificate by winning the 10-lap Cash Dash.
Tire certificates were also awarded by Lias Tires.
Coming up next at Grandview Speedway is Enduro and Blast from the Past Vintage racing. It all happens on Saturday, September 28th at 6 p.m. and features Big Cars, Small Cars, Junk Yard Cars, Mechanics Race, Xcel 600 Modifieds along with two features for the Vintage racers. A lot of action for just $10 (adults) and youngsters under 12 free.
Then on Saturday, October 19th, 6 p.m. Thunder on the Hill Halloween Party featuring 358/Big Block Modifieds in a 40-lap main event plus Sportsman and MASS Sprinters.

WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. ~ Shanon Mongeau of Jackson and Jerry Koenig of Baldwin, N.Y. were big winners on “Pack the Track Night” at Wall Stadium Speedway Saturday night topping a pair of 25-lap main events for the O'Shea's Auto Repair Factory Stocks. It was the first win of the campaign for each driver.
Once things settled down in the first race Tom Rajkowski of Fords was the early leader as Mongeau fought his way to the front of the pack. Mongeau arrived in second spot just past halfway and then shadowed Rajkowski until lap 21 when he dove to the inside lane in turn two to slip into the lead. Mongeau then powered on to the win while Rajkowski, Scott Riggleman of Manchester, point leader Elliot Wohl of Beachwood and defending champion Mike Montano of Freeport, N.Y. completed the top five.
Koenig took full advantage of an up front starting spot to lead the 20-car field to the green flag in the second Factory Stock 25-lapper. He then fought off a host of contenders including former champ Joe Mongeau of Brick, Union's Joey Helberg and eventual runner-up Shanon Mongeau. Helberg, Scott Riggleman and Wohl were third through fifth.
Neil Rutt III of Edison took the lead early in the 25-lap race for the Center State Engineering Sportsman cars while Howell's Eric Lane soon advanced to second spot. After Lane sized up his foe from second, this duo offered up a battle royal during the final laps. With bumpers and nerf bars banding and sparks flying this duo swapped the lead a couple of times before Lane came home with the win. Tommy Martino of Farmingdale, Jonathan Laureigh of Lanoka Harbor and Shanon Mongeau completed the top five.
After a pre-race hot lap crash took out two of the entered cars, Shanon Mongeau came back to win the 20-lapper for the Mike's Performance Center Limited Late Models over Chris Silvestri of Hazlet. Joey Bailey won the 25-lapper for the touring Three Quarter Midgets and Chris Klotz topped the Demolition Derby.
Auto racing continues at Wall Stadium Speedway this Saturday (Sept. 28) night with NAPA Night featuring an early evening on track party where fans can walk the track, meet the drivers and look at the race cars up close. Grandstand gates open at 4:00 p.m., the On-Track Fan Fest starts at 4:30 p.m., qualifying begins at 5:45 p.m. and features start at 7:00 p.m. The All American Auto Group Modifieds, Sportsman cars, Limited Late Models, Factory Stocks, Surfside Collision 4 Cylinder Stocks and the Green Flag Driving Experience Legend Cars will all see action.
