SOLID GOLD: Daryn Pittman wins second Gold Cup with dominating performance
Pittman brings California’s Roth Motorsports to Victory Lane at Silver Dollar Speedway
CHICO, CA – Sept. 7,2019 – Daryn Pittman’s hope of winning a second Gold Cup at Silver Dollar Speedway Saturday night manifested into reality every 12 seconds.
Even with Friday night’s winner Brad Sweet breathing down his neck, the Oklahoma driver continued to be the first car across the start/finish line every lap.
However, with two laps to go, that manifestation was put on halt. A caution came out, putting Sweet on his bumper. Flashbacks of a previous Gold up loss projected in his head.
“I was having flashbacks of, I don’t know, [2014] or something and we led the whole race,” Pittman said. “It laid rubber on the bottom of (turns) one and two and I found that. It didn’t lay rubber in (turns) three and four until the last couple of laps and Johnathon Allard snuck by me coming to the checkered. That one still stings.”
Uninterested in repeating that pain, Pittman closed the deal this time. Leading every lap, he won his second Gold Cup and fourth World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series victory of the year.
“Hats off to this whole Roth Motorsports team to get a win here in California, the Gold Cup, the biggest race in California,” Pittman said about giving his California-based team a home state win. “To win it for Dennis and Teresa (Roth) is just awesome.”
While Pittman led every lap of the 40-lap Feature, his path to victory was not immediately paved with gold.
After a 17th-place finish Friday night, Pittman and his Roth Motorsports crew needed a new approach. And a little bit of luck.
They showed speed at the start of the night by Qualifying fourth. That placed Pittman on the outside pole for his Drydene Heat race where he took the lead from Sweet at the start and went on to win.
Then luck helped out. He drew the pole of the DIRTVision Fast Pass Dash, and went on to win that, too.
He pulled away to about a straightaway lead in the first six laps of the Feature, with David Gravel in second and Sweet fighting his way past Brent Marks for third. Pittman found himself in lap traffic by that point, too, until a caution on Lap 10 for Kraig Kinser going off track in turn four.
On the restart, Gravel stayed close to Pittman and launched in front of him for the lead in turn one. However, before the field could complete another lap, the yellow lights around the speedway turned back on for Ian Madsen in the turn four wall. The lap was not completed and Pittman remained the leader.
Sweet, looking for his first Gold Cup victory in his home state, had fallen back to fourth-place. However, on a restart with 26 laps to go, after a red flag for Jacob Allen flipping, Sweet powered his way by Marks for third down the front stretch and then rode the high side to take second away from Gravel before completing the lap.
While the “Big Cat” tried to track Pittman down, Gravel, Marks, Logan Schuchart and Tim Kaeding traded slide jobs and crossover maneuvers for countless laps, arguing over who would be third. Schuchart silenced the argument by taking third with six laps to go and the leaders in his sight.
“I love working out, I love being in shape for this deal and I’ve tried doing that in the past and sometimes I don’t feel like it makes a difference, but tonight it did,” Schuchart said. “The guys in front were starting to slow down a little bit and I was able to still race it hard and jump across the spots I needed to and make a lot of ground up.”
Pittman found himself caught in heavy lap traffic, unable to always make a quick pass. Sweet and Schuchart fed off that, inching closer to the Roth Enterprises No. 83 car. Sweet even got close enough in the closing laps to dive underneath Pittman – slowed by lap cars – and take the lead.
Pushing the handling of his car to its limits, Pittman charged back around Sweet for the led the next corner, never allowing the Kasey Kahne Racing driver to officially lead a lap.
Then with a late caution, he had to hold on to that mentality for two more laps. He was not going to allow a repeat of 2014’s race. Mastering his restarts all night, Pittman put about a three-car length lead on Sweet into the first corner and kept it that way to the finish. The hope of winning was now a reality.
“My thought process was run as hard as you can on the top, because that’s what I thought it was going to take to win,” Pittman said. “I feel like at the green-white-checkered I went has hard as I had. The hard part about that is when you run hard against that tricky of a cushion, you’re putting yourself at risk to make a mistake and take yourself out. But I was more OK with trying too hard and losing than going too slow and trying to be safe.”
Sweet’s thought process was “attack, attack, attack,” he said. However, Pittman was just too strong.
“He had a good enough of a lead there, no matter how good, he would’ve had to mess up,” Sweet said. “He drove a great last two laps. We gave it all we had with the NAPA Auto Parts car. I was trying to move around and got my wing back a little too far I think at one point and got myself tight. I was a great race. We gave it all we had.”
While Sweet missed out on winning another Gold Cup, his runner-up finish was his third podium finish in-a-row. In those three races he's also cut 10-time Series champion Donny Schatz’s points lead over him down from 36 points to six.
Schatz was on track to potentially lose the points lead after taking the final transfer spot in the Last Chance Showdown to start last in the Feature. He came close to getting lapped in the first half of the race, but was able to fight his way to an eighth-place finish in the final half – earning him the Hard Charger award for the race.
For Pittman, he earned himself his 85th career World of Outlaws victory, moving him past his hero, Stevie Smith, to be the ninth winningest driver on the all-time Series wins list. He also earned himself $15,000 and another glistening golden cup trophy – his first Gold Cup was earned 13 years ago.
“There’s not many drivers that can say they were here 13 years ago,” Pittman said with a smile. “Part of that dates me. It makes me feel old. But I feel like I’ve got a lot of good years left in me. I’m having a lot of fun, especially when you get good cars like this to drive.”

KODY SWANSON A SMOOTH OPERATOR AT RICH VOGLER CLASSIC

Brownsburg, Indiana (September 7, 2019).........In a championship race that Kody Swanson has led since day one, it seems inconceivable the number of peaks and valleys he and Nolen Racing have endured and overcome throughout the season.
Six days earlier at Du Quoin, the team had not one, but two engines go south on them in practice and qualifying, forcing Swanson into another team's car that he had never set foot in prior to the green flag, riding to a 14th place finish.
Six days later, the story was written in reverse as Swanson and Nolen executed their smoothest night of the year. No backup cars, no engine changes, just back to the basics - racing and winning, which they did again for the fifth time this year in nine races, Saturday night under the lights of Lucas Oil Raceway at the Rich Vogler Classic.
"It's tough, on top of a short week to do it. It would've been a tough week anyway, let alone when you're down and trying to get going," Kody explained. "You can either wait for something good to happen to you or you can put the work in and try to help. I haven't been to my day job since Wednesday morning, gutting it out with the guys in the shop. Everyone who's a part of it has continued to give everything they could."
Swanson's victory, the record-extending 29th of his USAC Silver Crown Champ Car Series career, came after circumstances with the engine befell the team at Salem less than a month ago in the most recent pavement race. It was at Salem this week where the team made a decisive choice on the package they were going to bring to Lucas Oil Raceway.
"We had to pull (an engine) out from under the bench and put it in the backup car," Swanson said. "I've been part of a gentleman's agreement this year not to test at the places we're going to. We went to Salem, that's close to the shop and we're already done racing there, just to try to shake it down and make sure this one is still good. Afterward, we felt like our backup car was the better choice of the two. It was really good on starts and that's what we needed to try it."
Kody was knocked off the pole position by the final contestant of the Fatheadz Eyewear qualifying session, his younger brother Tanner Swanson, pitting the Kingsburg, Calif. siblings on the front row at the .686-mile paved oval where the two have had many a battle at the front of the pack for the past decade.
"We grew up together, so he knows all my tricks," Kody said of his younger brother. "He doesn't get rattled and everyone knows, when he comes to town, he's going to be a contender and probably the biggest threat."
Kody didn't allow Tanner to get an advantage in edgewise as he drove around Tanner in turns one and two on the opening lap to secure the lead. Back behind the brothers Swanson, May LOR winner Kyle Hamilton slid up in front of Justin Grant in the first urn to snare the third position.
The first and heaviest incident of the night came on the ninth lap when a rear end issue on the car of Cody Gallogly sent him hard into the turn two wall, resulting in his left rear wheel bouncing down the back straightaway without abandon before coming to a rest more than a half-straightaway in front of his damaged machine.
Through much of the first half of the 100-lapper, Tanner and Hamilton were locked down just a few car lengths behind Kody with the trio breaking away from the fourth-place car of Justin Grant by nearly half a lap as the top-three entered the throes of traffic. Swanson was the first to navigate between, under and around the traffic with precision, but Tanner and Hamilton cut through the chase to remain within a stone's throw of Kody.
On the 43rd lap, Annie Breidinger, making her first series start in over two years, spun exiting turn two. With Breidinger stopped, the trailing car of eighth-running Ryan Newman clipped his left front wheel into the left side of Breidinger's tail tank, heavily damaging Newman's front end and tearing off the rear bumper off Breidinger's machine. Breidinger restarted, but Newman, the 1999 Silver Crown champ, 2008 Daytona 500 winner and 2013 Brickyard 400 victor, was finished for the evening.
The most recent occasion Kody was in this exact position, leading a restart near the halfway point at LOR in May, his engine let go on him, putting him out of the race. This time around, Swanson was like match on a fire, extending his lead lap-after-lap from the lap 48 restart onward. Between laps 58 and 60 alone, Kody upped the interval between he and Tanner a half-second as traffic loomed once again. A Breidinger turn one spin resulted in a lap 69 restart for Kody which bunched up the field and would wind up being the closest the competition would get for the remaining 31 laps of the green flag run to the conclusion.
It seemed as if the longer the race went, the more Kody's car was changing and the more on top of it he became.
"Every stint, I drove the car a little bit different, using the throttle and the brake a little different and using the banking of the racetrack a little different, just trying to help my car be the best it could to try to get and keep the lead," Kody said.
Kody's fifth career LOR Silver Crown victory moved him into a three-way tie with Mike Bliss and brother Tanner Swanson for the most wins in series history at the track. It also marked Nolen Racing's third career USAC Silver Crown victory at LOR, and first since 1995 with Jim Keeker as the pilot. Nolen also won with Johnny Parsons in 1991.

Kody opened up the can to two seconds almost immediately, running away as he extended it to over three seconds by lap 84, then four, then five and, finally, 6.165 seconds when the checkered flag flew to score his second career Rich Vogler Classic victory, and first since 2016, over Tanner Swanson, Kyle Hamilton, Jim Anderson and a career-best fifth-place finish for five-time Indianapolis 500 veteran James Davison in his second career series start.

"What a part of history in the United States Auto Club this track has played, let alone to tie someone like Mike Bliss, who had the ultimate stranglehold on this place for so long and Tanner did too for a number of years," Kody exclaimed. I finally had to get better or (Tanner) was just going to continue to beat me all the time. I'm thankful to pick off a few whenever we could to make it up. To tie them with five is pretty special."
It's the ninth time the Swanson brothers have finished first and second in a USAC Silver Crown event, eight of which have come at LOR. Tanner won the first six of the Swanson one-two sweeps, while Kody has owned the upper hand in the last three.
Contingency award winners Saturday night at Lucas Oil Raceway included Tanner Swanson (Fatheadz Eyewear Fast Qualifier), Kyle Robbins (KSE Racing Products Hard Charger) and Annie Breidinger (Wilwood Brakes 13th Place Finisher).

SEAVEY SOARS TO SPECTACULAR RIM-RIDING WIN AT SPOON RIVER
CANTON, ILL. (September 7, 2019) - Putting an exclamation point on a weekend sweep, Logan Seavey of Sutter, Calif. continued his winning ways on Saturday night with an exciting late-race rally to take the cake at Spoon River Speedway. Going top shelf, Seavey tiptoed around the outside of the 3/8th-mile and treaded the cushion while rocketing to the lead with five to go and storming off for his ninth POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League win of the year
In a season chalked full of dominance, Saturday's triumph gave Seavey yet another accolade in his booming career. Not only did the 22-year old Keith Kunz-Curb Agajanian Motorsports star sneak closer to Christopher Bell's record of 11 POWRi National Midgets wins in a single season, but he became the all-time leader in a separate category.
Scoring his 17th-career victory in thrilling fashion, the Sutter, Calif. native advanced to eighth on the all-time wins list and surpassed Darren Hagen of Riverside, Calif. to become the winningest California driver in POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League history.
Before the pageantry of yet another victory lane commenced, a trio of leader commanded the field in what was an all-around enticing 30-lapper. Started by the front row of Tanner Carrick and Jake Neuman, it was Neuman of New Berlin, Ill. who found the top first and led the opening lap aboard his Jim Neuman Racing, Brandt, BOSS/SR-11 No. 3N.
Neuman's advantage was shortlived, however, as Carrick of Lincoln, Calif. came bolting to the lead on lap two and pointed his Keith Kunz-Curb Agajanian Motorsports, Walker Filters, Bullet/Toyota No. 71K to the top. Bringing his KKM teammate along for the ride, Carrick saw a charging Seavey throw several sliders his way early on but responded to every attempt and maintained command lap-in and lap-out.
While Carrick and Seavey were focused on each other, a new challenger came roaring to life as Tyler Thomas of Collinsville, Okla. methodically rolled the low line and put his BT Machine, Spike/Toyota No. 91T in contention. With open track ahead, Thomas drove by both Seavey and Carrick to assume the race lead on lap eight.
A lap ten caution restacked the field and bunched them up, but Thomas remained strong out front while Seavey struggled with passing Carrick for the second spot and the back end of the top five continued shuffling with Spencer Bayston, Tucker Klaasmeyer, Ace McCarthy and Zach Daum all battling.
However, that intense fight for position soon turned drastic, as Bayston's No. 19 and Klaasmeyer's No. 27 collided at the entry to turn three, resulting in both cars going for nasty tumbles. Both drivers would climb out of their respective cars, although very gingerly, showing the magnitude of the scary crash.
Going back to green with 11 laps left, fans at Spoon River were treated to a three-way for the top spot as Thomas crept down low, Carrick rolled through the middle and Seavey. Blasted the cushion. Finding the sweet spot up top, Seavey swept around the outside and built his momentum before flying by Carrick and then tracking down Thomas for the lead with five to go.
Clearing the pass at the exit of turn four, Seavey's No. 67 rocketed off the banking and went screaming down the frontstretch as he edged ahead of Thomas' No. 91T to lead the 25th lap. Keeping it close, Thomas kept Seavey honest and made it a close race until a slow lapper on the bottom held him up and essentially handed Seavey the W.
Leading only five laps, Logan Seavey lurked in the late running and capitalized for his ninth POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League win of the 2019 season. Completing a weekend sweep for the Keith Kunz-Curb Agajanian Motorsports, Mobil 1, Bullet/Toyota No. 67, Seavey won his first-ever event at Spoon River all the while inching closer to the history books.
Trailing Seavey to the finish line was Tyler Thomas with a close second-place result and Tanner Carrick with a third-place effort. Rounding out the top five was Zach Daum and Jesse Colwell, while top ten finishers included Ace McCarthy in sixth, Jesse Love in seventh, Andrew Layser in eighth, Holley Hollan in ninth and Daison Pursley in tenth.
The POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League resumes next weekend with a trip to Belle-Clair Speedway in Belleville, Ill. on Friday, September 13 and then a night at Macon Speedway in Macon, Ill. on Saturday, September 14.

WILLMAN FINALLY BREAKS THROUGH WITH NASCAR MODIFIED WIN AT GRANDVIEW SATURDAY NIGHT
LEIBY, CASSEL AND DECKER ARE ALSO WINNERS

BECHTELSVILLE, PA. September 8, 2019 . . . John Willman led the past three T.P. Trailers NASCAR 358 Modified 30-lap features, but always fell laps short of being in victory lane at the drop of the checkered.
The veteran racer missed several Saturday nights at the 1/3-mile Grandview Speedway oval due to engine problems or lack of crew help.
The “Ultimate Underdog” hasn’t won a feature since April 3, 2010, but Willman changed the status of that to be the ninth different winner this season in the Modified division. He ran every groove possible once he put the Hampton Bros./Carroll Hine powered No. 74W in front on the seventh lap. No matter which lane runner-up and current point leader Duane Howard ran he couldn’t get around or underneath him for the pass. Not only did Willman have to deal with Howard, Jeff Strunk joined the mix near the end for a three-way battle.
Willman dedicated the win to his father-in-law who is in ill-health and his wife Beth who was not in attendance since she was home with him.
In the TP Truck Equipment NASCAR Sportsman 25-lap feature, 16-year-old rookie Jimmy Leiby, who became a regular competitor with a crate motor in late July, took over the lead on the eighth lap and went on to win his first-ever career victory by holding off a fast closing second place Mike Mammana who gained ground as they approached lap traffic. Leiby is the 14th different winner in the division
Andy Cassel won the 10-lap Modified feature in the Blast From The Past while Rich Decker collected the win in the Vintage division.
Providing the feature winners met the necessary requirements, they received monetary awards from T.P. Trailers and a certificate from VP Fuels for product awards. The Dan’s Deli ½-way hoagie award recipients were Willman and Leiby. An extra $100 went to Leiby for being the highest finishing crate engine driver.
The final NASCAR point races of the season are set for Saturday, September 14 as WNPV-AM Radio Champion’s Night is presented. The T.P.Trailers NASCAR 358 Modifieds and T.P.Trucks Equipment Sportsman racing talents will battle it out for the lucrative championships and top point finishing positions.
Fans will have the opportunity to win pairs of tickets for the NASCAR Monster Energy Cup race, October 6, at Dover International Speedway along with a four pack of “ride all day with coaster” tickets to the popular Knoebel’s Amusement Park, America’s largest free admission park which features the #1 Wooden Roller Coaster in the world, the Phoenix, all courtesy of WNPV.
Jesse Leiby led six laps of the Modified feature enduring pressure from Eric Biehn and Willman.
Biehn while running a solid second, found himself facing the wrong direction in the second turn with Steve Swinehart, left with nowhere to go becoming involved in the sixth lap caution. On the restart Willman charged into first while Whitmoyer followed through for second to challenge. Leiby, Frank Cozze and Howard made it a five-way battle for the lead.
Cozze, who was right in the thick of things in third, stopped in the fourth turn out of contention on the lap 12 restart. It was still Willman showing the way with the top five composed of Whitmoyer, Howard, Strunk and Craig Von Dohren. Trying to get into a top five position was Brett Kressley.
Willman ran the middle, top and bottom portion of the track in anticipation of keeping Howard behind him. Howard had taken over second on the 15th lap and was running the highest path possible to try to become the new leader.
Right behind Willman and Howard, Von Dohren and Whitmoyer were waiting in anticipation for either one to falter and advance a position.
The top five remained the same bumper-to-bumper until Kressley overtook fifth on the 22nd lap.
Despite the struggle to gain a position the order never changed.
Howard made one last ditch effort to dive underneath Willman coming in for the checkered, but it was useless and Willman earned a crowd-pleasing fourth career Saturday night triumph. Howard was a close second trailed by Howard, Von Dohren and Kressley.
Ron Kline, Steve Swinehart, Jesse Leiby and Justin Grim were the heat winners while the consies went to Clay Butler, returning after his barrel-roll along the homestretch a few weeks ago and Timmy Buckwalter.
Steve Young led seven laps in the Sportsman feature before Tom Miller, while running second, spun in the fourth turn. The lead changed hands on the restart when Leiby shot past Young. Mammana followed through for second at the same time.
Within a few laps Leiby opened up some daylight over the rest of the top five that consisted of Mammana, Brad Brightbill the current point leader; Young and Jesse Landis.
Mammana reeled in Leiby, who was caught behind lap traffic, with two laps to go, but he didn’t have enough time and Leiby went on to victory with Mammana, Brightbill, Young and Landis in tow.
Young, Leiby and Miller won the heats. The consi was won by Brad Grim.

Hamlin, PA- Hoch, Eby And Hufcut All Bag Double Wins In Exciting Hamlin Speedway Feature Events
The Hamlin Speedway was loaded with tremendous racing activity last evening in the Pocono Mountains as the speedway hosted it's regular divisions and was buffered by the addition of a couple of extra feature events being run from a a couple of weeks back. With the Tour races for the Nationals All Stars and Junior Slingshots, the drivers flocked to the speedway with many new faces showing their talent and skills on the speedway. Once again the Smith Fanily was off and running with some superb heat racing action and seven feature events. The racing action at the 1/5th mile clay-cushioned facility has been remarkable with many outstanding driving personalities carving out their own claim to fame in weekly competition for age groups from 8 to 60 plus. The racing will once again take place at the speedway Saturday evening, August 31st, beginning at 6 PM.
The 2019 season is now fifteen weeks old and many special events have been already been completed but the heart of the racing schedule is ongoing and the racing action is always top flight at Hamlin. To recap the action on Saturday three drivers all bagged double wins at the speedway which is something that surprised all of the people on hand last night for the events. Kasey Hufcut captured both ends of the Junior Slingshot action and was matched by Jake Eby in the Regular and Rookie main events for the 600 Sprints and outside invader Dylan Hoch, who was smooth and steady as he outlasted the rest of the All Star Slingshot field with outstanding runs to capture both ends of his events. "Chops" Anthony Chrobak was fast and captured the feature win in the Stage One division for the Hampton RV & Trailer Sales Stage One Modifieds. "The Fighting Irishman" John Gilroy was quick and smooth as he captured the Super Slingshot wi
Anthony Chrobak took over the lead at the start of the event as he as the pole sitter was quick to the task at hand. Adam Buchel wasted no time as he followed Chrobak around the speedway. Chrobak never made a mistake all through the event as he hit his marks on the speedway and held a close lead all through the entire distance of the event. Tanner VanDoren did get around Buchel for runner-up honors with Buchel coming in third, Michael Samony hustling hard for fourth and Amanda Buchel working really hard to come back for fifth position at the end of her run. The returning Cody Motto headed up the second five with Joel Price, Evan Civick, newcomer Mark Tishler and Lawson Szerencits. The event was halted early in the running as Jeff Hineline got upside down on the backstretch and did some flips before coming back to earth. Hineline was uninjured in the wreck.
In the Super Slingshots, Wes Hearn was the initial leader for seven laps until coming out of turn two his racer shut down creating a scramble with John Gilroy emerging as the leader of the event. That was all the Tannersville resident needed as he raced to the win. Jimmy Conroy followed Gilroy home in this one followed by Paul Ennes, Mark Exeter and Jeremy Hoffman.
The Rookie feature for the 600 Sprints began wildly as the front tier of Jacob Nemeth and Dennis Chamberlain got together with Nemeth going upside down and landing in a heap on the front stretch of the facility. Nemeth was uninjured in the incident. The turn of event allowed for Jacob Eby to move into the number one spot and he took advantage of the mishap and controlled the event once the racing continued. Tony Parlant raced into the runner-up role with Michael Nolf third, Cody Powell fourth and Richie Maguire completing the top five. Brandon Nicholas recovered from a spin to head up the second five with Rich Maguire, Jason Garcia, Dennis Chamberlain and Carmen Leggio following.
In the regular event for the 600 Sprints Eby emerged with the pole for the event. At the start Eby was quick to take the lead and that was all he needed as he took the lead over Colin White. White, a former track champion, was all over Eby from start to finish but Eby never waivered and took the win with White settling for runner-up honors. Reigning track champion Mick D'Agostino was third in this one with Alex Bright in fourth place and Tyler Lindsay settling for fifth. Brandon Bright was sixth with Joey Amantea, Joel Smith, Noah Zielinski, and Richie Maguire rounding out the top ten.
The Junior Slingshot found Charlene Benz leading the first two laps before encountering some mechanical gremlins. Doug Smith was johnny on the spot and began cruising towards victory lane. Smith found woes in his car on lap sixtreen while leading and pulled to the infield. Kasey Hufcut assumed command and led the rmaing couple of laps to victory. Outside invader Tyler Ulsh was the runner-up with Aidan Elliot doing great work to finish third. RJ Sherman, and Charlene Benz completed the top five. Adian Donaldson was sixth with Chase Zimmer in a new car seventh, Cole Perez in eighth, Isabella VanOrden ninth and Dillon Beadle tenth.
The All Star Slingshot event began with 32 cars hoping for a shot at the bag of gold at the end of the event. Dyaln Hoch began form the pole and that is where he stayed all through the 50-laps of racing action. Jared Silfee was second throughout the event and although he got close was never able to pull the trigger for the hometown fans and settled for second place. Cody Kline was steady throughout and claimed third place. Kyle Herve was solid for fourth and Scott Neary came in for ffith place. Shelby McLaughlin headed up the second five with Tanner VanDoren, Mike McLaughlin, Alan Kober and Brian Smith nailing down top ten finishes. Joey Kalafut, invader Dave Carraghan, Wes Hearn, Justin Newhard, and Ashley Kober closed out the top fifteen.
Kasey Hufcut took the lead at the start of the rained out feature event and led all of the way to claim yet another win at the speedway. Invader Tyler Ulsh was the runner-up. RJ Sherman, Isabella VanOrden, and Charlene Benz rounded out the top five with Doug Smith, Aiden Elliot, Chase Zimmer, Dillon Beadle and Jenna Amantea closing out the top ten.
Dylan Hoch took the lead on the first lap of the event and that was all he was going to need to go and capture the win. Jared Silfee was the runner-up with Scott Neary, Cody Kline and Kyle Herve following. The second five found Shelby McLaughlin, Dave Carraghan, Tanner VanDoren, Dale Kober and Paul Ennes following.
Pearl Jams:
The track was racy from start to finish and Track Promoter Randy Smith continued to work on the speedway as necessary for the activity on the speedway was non-stop but very racy throughout. The drivers carried out their mission of speeds successfully as Smith had new clay installed during the week and the drivers utilized all of the track throughout the evening of events.
Jared Silfee, Tanner VanDoren, newcomer Mason Pittenger and Dylan Hoch captured the heat wins for the All Star Slingshots in the first round while Cody Kline, Wes Hearn, Dylan Hoch and Paul Ennes captured the second. The Junior Slingshot heats went to Charlene Benz and Doug Smith and the second round of heats went to Tyler Ulsh and Kasey Hufcut.. The Stage One Modified heats found Anthony Chrobak and Adam Buchel being victorious. The Super Slinger heat found John Gilroy at the head of the pack. JPA Masonry Wingless heats were claimed by Zack Weisenfluh and Colin White. Wes Hearn captured the heat win for the Supers. The JPA Masonry Rookie 600 Sprints ran two heats and Jacob Eby and Jacob Nemeth were the winners.
Flagger Russ Furry was on hand last evening as well but in the grandstands sitting one out as he is still hobbled by some injuries he received while working. Veteran flagger and go to guy Mike Feltenberger filled in for Russ on the stand once again for the evening
Jay Powell captured the 50/50 last evening to the tune of $83.00

TRUEX TOPS WALL MODIFIEDS SATURDAY
WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. ~ Tyler Truex turned a disappointing season into a rewarding one Saturday night by winning the 40-lap main event for the All American Auto Group Modified stocks cars at Wall Stadium Speedway. The victory was the first of the campaign for the Mayetta resident.
Eddie McCarthy of Pt. Pleasant was impressive early in this race as he led Derek Hopkinson of Toms River through the first ten laps. The duo then touched at this point with McCarthy spinning from the lead. Hopkinson was then the leader of the test but Truex had now completed his run from sixth to second and applied the pressure. On the 16th lap Truex powered to the outside lane to take the lead.
The final half of the event saw Truex fight off the advances of Holmdel's Andrew Krause and Hopkinson who eventually finished second and third. The returning Ron Frees of Lanoka Harbor and Howell's Kevin Davison were fourth and fifth.
“This win is for my father,” Truex said in the winner's circle. “He is fighting health issues and I am so glad he is here tonight. He is the reason that I am a Modified driver today. Andrew Krause may have had the better car late in the race but he drove me clean all the way.”
The Surfside Collision 4 Cylinder Stocks battled in twin 25-lap main events with Neptune City's Jeffrey Loesch winning the first after taking the lead on lap eight. Howell's Brian Osborn, Ryan Maher of Neptune, Edison's Neil Rutt III and Alonzo Morales of Mt. Ephraim completed the top five. Championship point leader Rutt returned to win the nightcap over a top five of Morales, Maher, Loesch and Ian Ashford of Farmingdale.
Michael Rising of Little Egg harbor fought off the advances of Howell's Eric Lane for most of the first half of the 25-lapper for the Center State Engineering Sportsman cars before the duo touched and Rising went spinning from the lead. Lane then took command and raced on to the win over Farmingdale's Tommy Martino. Rutt, Jackson's Jarret DiGiantomasso and the recovering Rising wrapped up the top five.
Sean Verwys of East Stroudsburg, Pa. got his first win in the 25-lapper for the Green Flag Driving Experience Legend Cars fighting off Mason Magee most of the way. Invader Ron Milroy, Peter Bruno of Little silver and Joe McGrath of Brick were third through fifth.
Auto racing continues at Wall Stadium Speedway this Saturday (Sept. 14) night with the All American Auto Group Modified stock cars, the Center State Engineering Sportsman cars, the O'Shea's Auto Repair Factory Stocks and the Surfside Collision 4 Cylinder Stocks all on tap. Grandstand gates open at 5:00 p.m., qualifying begins at 5:45 p.m. and features start at 7:00 p.m.

ONE MORE SILVER DOLLAR: Brad Sweet gets second Silver Dollar Speedway victory
Sweet wins opening night of the Gold Cup for the second year in-a-row
CHICO, CA – Sept. 6 – The clamor of 24 Sprint Cars in a gladiatorial battle at Silver Dollar Speedway faded into the calm Northern California night. Several minutes later a new clamor slowly elevated outside the quarter-mile track.
“Brad Sweet. Brad Sweet. Brad Sweet! Brad Sweet! Brad Sweet!” Fans chanted the California-native’s name like a posse honoring a warrior’s victory.
Sweet out dueled fellow Californians, Tim Kaeding and Shane Golobic, to claim his second Silver Dollar Speedway win Friday night, and 14th World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series win of the year – 48th career win overall.
“We’re happy tonight,” said Sweet, of Grass Valley, Calif. “Tough racing out there. It’s treacherous. You never know which way the car is going to bounce or if you’re going to make a good corner or a bad corner. I just tried to stay up on the wheel. We pushed hard all night.”
His opening night had a sour start qualifying 14th of 30 cars. He rebounded in his Drydene Heat race by charging from fifth-place to second. That put Sweet in the DIRTVision Fast Pass Dash where he finished fourth.
The last three races at Silver Dollar Speedway had been won by a California native. The preamble to the Feature suggested that streak would see forth. Kaeding, of San Jose, and Golobic, of Fremont, occupied the front row for the Feature. Both won their Heat race. Golobic drew the pole for the Dash and ended up second to Kaeding.
In last year's two Gold Cup races at the speedway, Kaeding finished second both nights – once to Sweet. He wanted one spot better this year.
On the initial start, Kaeding jumped to the lead but Golobic was able to find grip on the bottom and keep pace with Kaeding running the preferred line on the high side. Sweet powered around Donny Schatz for third and begin his trek to the front.
To get to Kaeding, Sweet had to go through Golobic first. And the young Californian forced Sweet to exert all of his talent to do so.
After restarting the race for a caution on Lap two, Sweet snuck underneath Golobic and passed him for second down the backstretch. Sweet cleared the NOS Energy Drink No. 17w car off turn four. With Golobic gaining momentum around the high side, Sweet also tried to block Golobic’s run off the corner but failed. Golobic turned underneath the NAPA Auto Parts No. 49 and charged back to second-place around the bottom of turns one and two.
Four laps later, with 23 laps still to go, Kaeding began to pull away and Sweet took another charge at Golobic. The Kasey Kahne Racing driver charged around the outside of Golobic in turns one and two. However, Golobic, continuing to use the bottom to his advantage, powered his way back in front of Sweet off turn four. Sweet attempted to dive underneath him into turn one, but Golobic closed the door.
He hadn’t won, yet. Two laps later Sweet put together another run to charge to the outside of Golobic. The duo raced side by side, Sweet high and Golobic low, for two laps. With 18 laps to go Sweet was able to prevail, holding onto second with a firm grasp.
Kaeding had about a straightaway lead, but lap traffic was coming into play.
Sweet worked his way to Kaeding by the halfway point of the race. He got to the outside of the R&B Company No. 7s and drag raced him down the front stretch. Kaeding out powered Sweet into turns one and two, but slid his right rear off track down the back stretch, allowing Sweet to dart underneath him and officially take the lead on Lap 17.
“I stepped on my ‘you know what’ one little bit coming off of two,” Kaeding said. “Just gave Brad that opportunity to get by us.”
Sweet said he had to be aggressive on Kaeding to take the lead.
“It’s Tim Kaeding at Chico, he’s never going to be easy,” Sweet said. “I watched him my whole childhood dominate this place.”
Kaeding was then subjected to the same war with Golobic that Sweet had to battle through. The two California’s battled hard, swapping second-place several times. Justin Sanders, of Watsonville, Calif., even joined in on the battle for a few laps. However, Kaeding and Golobic were able to best Sanders in the closing laps and duel for second amongst themselves.
Before Sweet could run away with his second win in-a-row – having won Wednesday’s race at Willamette Speedway – a caution with eight laps to go gave Kaeding and Golobic their final shot at taking down the “Big Cat.”
When the race restarted, Sweet wiped away any hope they had of doing so. He pulled away with the lead, leaving Kaeding and Golobic to make their last few swings at each other for second. Kaeding won that battle, while Golobic maintained a podium finish in third.
“I had a really good battle with Brad toward the middle of the race and there at the end me and TK (Kaeding) were going at,” Golobic said. “There were two different lines. I felt like I could run the top or bottom, make speed. I just really enjoyed racing with those guys. We’re kind of hanging our head a little bit about a third-place run, but in the big picture racing with these guys and finishing top-three is nothing to hang our head about.”
While Kaeding had to settle for second for the third time in-a-row, during the Gold Cup Race of Champions event at the speedway, he still left with a smile.
“This R and B Company 7s, Jason Sides Motorsports, this thing hauls ass,” Kaeding said. “Hopefully we can move up one more spot tomorrow night.”
For the second race in-a-row, Sweet left with the biggest smile, the trophy and $8,000 check. He and his team are building momentum again and chipping away at Schatz’s championship points lead. In the past two races, Sweet has cut the reigning champion’s lead in half – now 18 points behind the 10-time Series champion.
His focus is on Saturday night at Silver Dollar Speedway, though, where fans clamoring his name would mark a victory he’s been in search of for a long time.
“Now we’ve got to get the damn Gold Cup,” Sweet said. “I haven’t been able to get Saturday night. I grew up at this place. I don’t think I’ve missed one Gold Cup my whole life. It’s a great event.”
