ABBOTTSTOWN, PA – Thousands of fans lined the straightaway fence at Lincoln Speedway Wednesday night, testing the limit of how close they can get to pushing themselves through.
A faint cheer could be heard from the end of the line when the No. 69K of Lance Dewease came into sight, rounding the corner of turn four. The cheers and screams became a tidal wave down the front stretch as Dewease slowly rolled into Victory for the Gettysburg Clash presented by Drydene.
The local hero won. Dewease out dueled the stars of the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series for his 16th career Series victory – moving past Jason Sides to sit 31st on the all-time wins list.
“It’s means everything,” Dewease said about claiming his first World of Outlaws win of the season. “It’s a good rivalry (between the World of Outlaws and PA Posse). To me it’s friendly. It’s not like we hate each other, but we want to beat each other pretty bad.”
Dewease showed how bad he wanted to win Wednesday night, wrestling with a competitive David Gravel all night.
Both won their respective Drydene Heat race and started on the front row for the DIRTVision Fast Pass Dash. Gravel won the battle in the Dash, passing Dewease on the high side and charging to the win. The start to the 35-lap was déjà vu with the two side-by-side and Gravel charging back to the lead.
The Watertown, Conn.-native pulled to about a two-car length lead over Dewease at the start and was able to maintain it while navigating through lap traffic in the early stage of the race.
Gravel was poised to claim his third win of the season, able to maintain the lead no matter what line he chose. Although, in similar fashion, no matter which line Dewease chose to run, he could keep Gravel close enough in sight that if the No. 41 Jason Johnson Racing car made a mistake, he would be ready to capitalize.
And that mistake came with 17 laps to go. After sticking to the high side most of the race, Gravel tried the bottom through turns one and two. It didn’t work for him this time. He slid off the bottom, dramatically slowing his pace and allowing Dewease an easy pass to the lead.
“I knew sooner or later we would have to be on the bottom,” Dewease said. “I made my mind up I was going to go to the bottom, and he went at the same time, but he didn’t stay there. He slid up and crossed and I got by him, which meant everything to me. I just made sure I didn’t mess up in lap traffic.”
While Dewease weaved through traffic seeming to know where each car would be before he got to them, the lap cars didn’t always cooperate. One came close to ending Dewease’s night, leaving centimeters between he and Deweases car off turn two.
“Laps cars were really hard for both David and me,” Dewease said. “So, that last caution with six laps to go I decided I wasn’t going to catch any lap cars if I didn’t have to.”
He didn’t. After a couple of late race cautions, the Fayetteville, Pa.-native cruised with ease to another victory at Lincoln Speedway.
The late race cautions were no benefit to Gravel. After hitting the restart cone during one of the restarts, Gravel said he tried to just protect his second-place position, but ended up losing it to Ryan Smith and had to settle for third.
“I’m disappointed I lost second,” Gravel said. “I wish I didn’t make the mistakes I did. It’s part of racing.”
He’s still holding his head high though, for having a strong night with being the fastest car in Flight 2 of Qualifying, winning his Drydene Heat race and the DIRTVision Fast Pass Dash. He also sits fourth in the Series’ points standing — 80 points behind Brad Sweet and Donny Schatz, who for the second time this year are tied for the points lead.
Schatz was the KSE Hard Charger of the night, racing from 25th to 11th, after having to use a provisional to start the Feature.
Dewease’s win marks the first-round win for the PA Posse in the Series’ Pennsylvania swing this month. The World of Outlaws will make its next trip Friday, May 17, and Saturday, May 18, to Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa. for the Morgan Cup.
As Dewease stood in Victory Lane holding the three-foot tall Gettysburg Clash presented by Drydene trophy, the hundreds of fans lined along the fence, and those that found their way to Victory Lane, not only drowned out the speedway with cheers for Dewease, they started the chant “Posse! Posse! Posse!”
“It’s great to get this week started off good and hopefully if I can’t win Friday or Saturday somebody else does,” Dewease said about the PA Posse support. “It’s a neat fanbase. We have the best fans in the world as far as I’m concerned. They love our racing. They come out in rain and snow. So, we’re pretty fortunate.”

NASCAR MODIFIED TOUR AT WALL STADIUM ON SATURDAY (MAY 18)
WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. ~ The stars of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour will invade Wall Stadium Speedway this Saturday, May 18 for the Jersey Shore 150 stock car race. On Saturday gates will open at 2:00 p.m., with practice at 2:15 p.m., qualifying at 5:45 p.m. and feature races starting at 7:00 p.m. In the event of bad Saturday weather, a special Sunday rain date has been set for this event. Tickets and pit passes are now available online only at wallspeedwayracing.com. Tickets will also be available for purchase at the track starting at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
All of the top NASCAR Modified racing stars are expected for this 150 lap event led by early 2019 tour race winners including two-time victor Doug Coby of Southington, Ct., as well as winners Ron Silk of Norwalk, Ct. and Justin Bonsignore of Holtsville, N.Y. Patrick Emerling of Orchard Park, N.Y., Eric Goodale of Riverhead, N.Y., Craig Lutz of Miller Place, N.Y., Chris Pasteryak of Lisbon, Ct. and Woody Pitkat of Bellingham, Mass., all of whom are currently in the top ten of tour points, are on the official entry list. Dave Sapienza of Riverhead, N.Y., who enjoyed a Wall Stadium Speedway win in the Turkey Derby last November, is also among the entries.
Local fans should also have plenty to cheer for in this race as Howell's Jimmy Blewett and Jackson's Blake Barney, both of whom are in the top ten in driver points, as well as Holmdel's Andrew Krause and Matawan's Anthony Sesely are expected to try to defend their local turf.
In addition to the 150 lap Tour Modified Main Event, the Center State Engineering Sportsman cars, the O'Shea's Auto Repair Factory Stocks and the Surfside Collision 4Cylinder Stocks will all see action in 25-lap feature races.

UNITED STATES AUTO CLUB (USAC) EAST COAST WINGLESS SPRINTS HEAD UP SATURDAY TRIPLEHEADER AT GRANDVIEW WITH NASCAR MODIFIEDS AND SPORTSMAN STOCK CARS
BECHTELSVILLE, PA May 13, 2019 . . . This Saturday night at Grandview Speedway there will be exciting racing action for both the open cockpit and stock car racing fans. The tripleheader show will have a 7:30 p.m. start.
The Rapid Tire United States Auto Club (USAC) East Coast Wingless Sprints will be making their first ever appearance on the one-third-mile banked clay oval. Sprint cars are known for being able to provide fans with great excitement on the Bechtelsville oval. Heading up the action will be such 360 Sprint standouts as Steve Drevicki, Eddie Strada, Alex Bright, and a host of others.
And the NASCAR stock car action will give the fans some edge of their seat action with Rick Laubach, making his first full time Grandview title effort, looking to overtake Craig Von Dohren in the championship chase. The Hellertown based Laubach will be looking to gain his first win of the season in the T.P. Trailers NASCAR Modified action. Despite not having a win to his credit Laubach is just 56 points behind leader Craig Von Dohren, a two feature winner already this season. Oley, PA based Von Dohren is a ten time NASCAR champion and leads the feature win department with 107 victories. Von Dohren has 1070 tallies.
Holding down third in the Modified point battle is “over 60 Hall of Famer” Frank Cozze with 903 counters.
Each of the Saturday night Modified events has drawn more than 40 entries.
Joining the Sprints and Modifieds will be the T.P. Truck Equipment Sportsman led by Coplay, PA’s Brad Grim who has 864 points followed by Mark Kemmerer who sits just three points behind. Both will lead a large field of Sportsman talents in the Saturday night action.
A full series of qualifying race events will lead up to the feature events in each of the three divisions.
The very popular Low Down & Dirty Meet and Greet, 5 P.M. at the main grandstand entrance, will feature cars and drivers that will be racing later in the evening. Modified racer Ryan Lilick and Sportsman talent Kyle Lilick will be meeting fans and will have their new t-shirts available for sale. In addition two of the top Sprint racing talents, Steven Drevicki and Eddie Strada, will be meeting fans.
Adult admission is $20, youngsters 6 through 11 pay just $5 and kids under 6 are admitted free. Spectator gates open at 5:30 p.m.
And on Sunday, May 19th at 1 p.m. Outlaw Enduro and Blast from the Past Vintage Racers. Big Car Enduro (75-laps), Small Car Enduro (75-laps), Junkyard Car Race (50-laps), Savage 61 Roadrunners (20-lap feature plus qualifying), Vintage Cars (2-20-lap features), Mechanics Race (20-laps), Outlaw 4X4 Truck Series (Heats and Features on Obstacle Course). TRI-CITY USAC AMSOIL SPRINT CAR RIVER TOWN SHOWDOWN PREVIEW

Granite City, Illinois (May 13, 2019).........Tyler Courtney's 18 wins have come at numerous racetracks in his USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car career, 13 to be precise.
After a few bumps in the road in the early going of the season, the defending series champ got off the relative schneid last Friday with his first series win of 2019, just in time to hit another venue he's already conquered in his still-young career, Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Ill., this Friday and Saturday, May 17-18, for the "River Town Showdown," back-to-back nights of doubleheaders featuring USAC Sprints and the NOS Energy Drink Midget National Championship.
Courtney broke through in his Clauson/Marshall/Newman Racing No. 7BC last weekend at Eldora, leading the final 25 laps for a simply dominating performance on the half-mile dirt oval in Ohio. The Indianapolis, Ind. driver became the fifth different series winner in five races, something that's only been accomplished once in the past decade - 2014 when there were eight winners in the first eight races.
In the series' most recent visit to Tri-City last August, the feature proved pivotal for Courtney. It's where he won and recaptured the point lead en route to the season title. On the last restart, Courtney had to withstand an assault from Kevin Thomas, Jr. Concluding the season knotted up with the same amount of points, any change in position at the end that night at Tri-City could've flipped the roles for who was going to enjoy the thrill of victory and who was going to endure the agony of defeat.
Perhaps it's too soon for championship talk at this point five races in, but the points swung at the top once again over the weekend as C.J. Leary vaulted to the head of the class by 12 markers over Thomas with Courtney surging to third, 43 points behind the leader.
Leary was a rocket all weekend, setting Fatheadz Eyewear quick time both nights and finishing second in Friday's feature. On Saturday, he followed up quick time with a heat race win before the rains came and washed away the remainder of the evening. Last year at Tri-City, Leary (Greenfield, Ind.) led the first nine laps before encountering trouble and dropping back to a 20th place finish.
Thomas, of Cullman, Ala., was fast time at Tri-City a year ago and was charging hard at the end before coming up just short to Courtney. Thomas hasn't won just yet with the series in 2019, but he's been about as consistent as you can ask for, not yet finishing outside the top-six and scoring three runner-up finishes.
Broken Arrow, Oklahoma's Brady Bacon had a third-place result in last year's Tri-City trip. He's fifth in points with a win at Bloomington (Ind.) Speedway on his resume thus far in 2019. Chase Stockon of Fort Branch, Ind. is a spot ahead of Bacon in the standings. He started on the pole and finished ninth at Tri-City last season.
The first two series' winners of the year, Chris Windom of Canton, Ill. and Justin Grant of Ione, Calif. are locked up for sixth in the standings. Windom was sixth and Grant eighth at Tri-City in 2018. Windom captured a fourth over the weekend at Eldora while Grant took eighth.
Rocklin, California's Robert Ballou, the 2015 USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car champion, was fourth in the most recent Tri-City tango after starting ninth. Ballou is tenth in the standings and seeking his first win of 2019.
Eighth in points Jason McDougal won his heat and finished 18th in his debut at Tri-City last year while Isaac Chapple, 12th in the standings, captured his heat and ran 11th a year ago. At Eldora last weekend, McDougal and Chapple raced across the line together, McDougal (Broken Arrow, Okla.) in ninth and Chapple (Willow Branch, Ind.) in tenth, a hard-charging performance from the 18th starting spot that earned him his best finish of the 2019 campaign.
Carson Short and Chad Boespflug are eager to make their USAC debuts at Tri-City this weekend. Short, of Marion, Ill., finished fifth last time out at Eldora and has recorded fast time twice already on the way to ninth in points. Boespflug, of Hanford, Calif., finished 21st at Eldora after suffering an engine problem just after taking the checkered flag in his heat, and continued to plague the team into the future.
He and whole host of others are ready to regroup and head to Tri-City for the 21st time in series history. Jay Drake, Jack Hewitt, Danny Smith, Greg Weld and Doug Wolfgang each have scored two victories at Tri-City while Steve Butler, Tyler Courtney, Rick Hood, Kelly Kinser, Ralph Liguori, Troy Rutherford (a Special Event win), Randy Standridge, Tony Stewart, Sammy Swindell and Josh Wise have one each.
The "River Town Showdown" features complete shows for the USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship, USAC NOS Energy Drink Midget National Championship and B-Mods on consecutive nights, May 17-18, on the 3/8-mile Tri-City Speedway dirt oval in Granite City, Ill.
Registration and pit gates open at 3pm (Central). Grandstands and ticket office open at 5pm. Cars on track at 6:30pm.
Adult general admission tickets are $25 while children 12 and under are FREE. Pit passes are $30 apiece for members and $35 for non-members.

It was South Jersey Overhead Door Night at the Bridgeport Speedway for the first race on the Design for Vision/Sunglass Central 3/8th mile track.
Speedway management hoped for a big enough window in the weather to complete the Saturday night show but the window closed as the South Jersey Overhead Door 602 Crate Sportsman cars took to the track. One lap was completed before the rains came. The cars stayed on the track at first to try to preserve the surface. The starting line-up was then sent to the pits and returned a few minutes later when the rain stopped. But before the race could be restarted, the rain came again, forcing the cancellation of the rest of the show.
South Jersey Overhead Door competitor, Wayne Weaver was the race leader at the end of one lap. This race as well as the Spirit Auto Center Big Block feature will be rescheduled at a later date.
The DA’s Auto Body & Repair Rookies opened the show with their second feature event of the season. Scott Maher, Jr. jumped out to the early lead. Maher led every lap with last week’s winner, Justin Moench following in his tracks. Maher picked up his first victory over Moench and Kathy Buzby.
The Delaware Auto Exchange Mid Atlantic Sprint Series took to the track for their twenty lap feature event earlier in the evening. Jeff Geiges raced to the outside to take the lead as Mark Bitner, Jason Dunn, Andy Best and Tom Carberry followed.
Geiges led the way through the first eight laps with the first caution coming at the start of lap nine as third place competitor, Dunn, spun on entrance to turn one. Another caution followed when several cars tangled in turn two. The result was the No. 39x of Scott Frack taking a ride. There were no injuries.
Geiges restarted from the outside and maintained his lead over Bitner. Best, Carberry and Jon Haegele completed the top five at the half way mark.
The red flag was needed on lap thirteen as contact was made between the cars of Bryant Davis and Dave Brown. Brown ended up going over but neither driver was injured.
Geiges drove to his first win of the season and his first on the Design for Vision/Sunglass Central 3/8th mile track. Geiges credited his family, his crew and his sponsors for the win. After making adjustments throughout the night, Geiges had the winning combination. “Clean air is so important in these cars,” Geiges explained after the win.
Rick Stief, 2018 MASS Champion, Tim Tanner, Ricky DiEva, Larry McVay and Eddie Wagner rounded out the top ten.
Jason Dunn, Geiges and Best were the winners of the three MASS heat races.
Matt Peck and Jim Gallagher, Jr. picked the victories in the qualifiers for the South Jersey Overhead Door 602 Crate Sportsman.
David Hunt and Billy Pauch were the winners in the Spirit Auto Center Big Block Modified heat races.
Racing will continue on the Design for Vision/Sunglass Central 3/8th mile track next Saturday as the Spirit Auto Center Big Block Modifieds, South Jersey Overhead Door 602 Crate Sportsman, Sunbelt Rentals Outlaw Stocks and DA’s Auto Body & Repairs Rookies. Sunbelt Rentals will be the sponsor for the first Bike Night of the 2019 season. Motorcyclists will be admitted free. Their bikes will be displayed throughout the night with awards being given in certain categories. A number of lucky boys and girls will go home with a brand new bicycle, courtesy of the competitors of the Bridgeport Speedway. Racing gets underway 6:30.

Hamlin, PA -Hamlin Speedway Halted By Heavy Strom After Five Features
Hamlin Speedway Promoters Randy and Denise Smith welcomed in another energetic group of racers on Saturday evening, bolstered by the first appearance of the 2018 edition of the 600 X-Cel Modifieds, as they tried valiantly to beat the rains with their second niight of their 2019 racing season at Hamlin Speedway. The racing was top notch all of the way in all divisions and another great crowd was on hand to witness the great season at the speedway. The Hamlin driving stars used all channels of the 1/5th mile clay cushioned attraction to keep the fans the fans on their feet throughout the evening of speed. They all came out to the Pocono Mountains to place their marks on the "Pearl of the Poconos" racing facility. The high flying racing action was sponsored by the good folks at S&S Speedways Indoor Go Karts located in Stroudsburg, PA. (www.ssspeedways.com). Five smiling winners found their way to the Hamlin Speedway Winners Circle at the end of the evening of racing action. The fove feature show was completed before the 11 PM curfew rolled around and the rain the weatherman was calling for hit the speedway.
The Saturday night action found "The Fighting Irishman" John Gilroy putting on a show stopping performance as he captured the Super Slinger feature in a wire to wire exhibition.. Kasey Hufcut captured the Amantea Real Estate Junior Slingshot event with a great run to the checkered flag for his second victory in a row. Alex Reinsmith held on for a great run in the opening event for the 270 Sprint division for his second win in succession.. Sonking Spring, Pennsylvania's Brian Blankenmiller was credited with capturing the X-Cel Modified event after the leaders of the race tangled with the checkered flag in sight. Carmen Leggio Sr put on a show all by himself as he, being the oldest driver in the division, put on all-out show stopping performaince to capture his first win ever at the Hamlin FAcility in the JPA Masonry Wingless 600 Rookie Sprint event.
The Super Slingshot feature event found John Gilroy unleashing the power on his hot rod and raced away from the field with impressive laps in his number 20 race car. Gilroy lapped all of the way up to fourth place in the event. Dale Kober rwas steady as the number two man on this evening with David Guest in third place, Greg Zellman in foiurth and Mark Exeter finishing out the top five. Jimmy Conroy and Paul Ennes finished up closely behind the top running cars.,
Kasey Hufcut raced into the lead at the start of the Amantea Real Estate Junior Slingshot event and would receive early pressure from Aidan Donaldson. Hufcut worked his way out to a full straigfhaway lead but had to jam on the brakes as troubles loomed out on t he spoeedway. When the racing went green again it was Hufcut out front and and he began to put lots of space once again on the field. Hufcut woulkd get the win with Donaldson in second place. Pauly Hartung, a newcomer to the speedway, was third in a nice run and he received lots of pressure from Doug Smith and RJ Sherman who completed the top five. Aidan Elliot, who was spun out in the early laps, came back to record a sixth place finish. Charlene BEnz, Chase Zimmer, Jacob Berman, and Ashton DeWitt completed the top ten finishers.
forward from a fifth starting position and quickly found the traffic more bearable at the top of the raceway and drove around Elliot and grabbed up the lead and walked away from the field from that point on. Hufcut would claim his first win of the season with Elliot in for runner-up honors and hard charging RJ Sherman third. Charlene Benz was fourth and Aiden Donaldson rounded out the top five. Heading up the second five were New Yorker Ashton DeWitt, with Jason Bierman, Doug Smith, James Hendricks and Isabella Van Orden following.
In the 270 Sprint feature event, Alex Reinsmith pulled out to a lead that Glenn Macomber just chased him the rest of the way.
On the JPA Masonry Rookie 600 Sprint event it would be the veteran driver Carmen Leggio Sr putting an end to a winless streak that lasted longer than Leggio would care to admit too. He took the lead at the strart of the event and had to hold back "The Whiz Kid" Jack Hanna each and everyt step of the way to gain the first win of his Hamlin Speedway career. Hnna was second with Dennis Chamberlain back in he mix for a third place run after an opening night triumph. Tony Parlanti raced hard up to fourth place with Ryan Lacoe nailing down a top five finish. Newcomer Justin Newhard was sixth with another newcomer Megan Rochelle in seventh, Jacob Eby in eighth, Brett Kern in ninth place and Jordan Nemeth settling for tenth.
In the 20-lap event for the X-Cel Modifieds Tyler Smith lead early and swapped the lead back and forth with Matt Warner in the early stages of the event. Brian Blankenmiller was resting in third place when the two leaders got together and Blamkemiller walked in to the win.
Ray Gradwell was second with Jarret Sechrist in third, T32 of Kyle Fallis in fourth, and Korey Inglin fifth. Nolan Smith was credited with sxith place while the remainder of the top ten included Geoff Sutton, Travis Fichter, Grany Schibilia, and Heath Machamer.,
PEARL JAMS:
Kudos to Randy Smith for an excellent track surface that once again found the drivers utilizing the many racing channels throughout the evening of competition. Additional time was taken to keep the track surface smooth and tacky throughout the evening of speed. especially after the rains showed up to cause some additional havoc.
The Super Slingshot heat found Greg Zellman returning to action with a victory in the heat action. Rookie 600 Sprint heats were claimed by Ryan Lacoe and Jacob Eby. Kasey Hufcut and RJ Sherman countered with wins. in the Junior Slingshots. Alex Reinsmith won the lone 270 Sprint heat. Joel Price and Adam Buchel were the heat winners in the Stage One Modifieds. TYlor Mills and Wes Hearn captured the heat wins for the All Star Slingshots. JPA Masonry Wingless Heats were captured by Joseph Smith and Cody Smith, making it a big night for family pride

While waiting out the rain, Announcer Steve Pados did an interview with one of the driving stras of the Stage One Modifieds heat winners with Joel Price. Pados was also able to interview with X-Cell SEries Promoter Doug Borger and his plan of attack for his series as they come to a track near all of you. Go out and see them compete, you will be glad you did.
