Hamlin, PA- Hoch, Eby And Hufcut All Bag Double Wins In Exciting Hamlin Speedway Feature Events
The Hamlin Speedway was loaded with tremendous racing activity last evening in the Pocono Mountains as the speedway hosted it's regular divisions and was buffered by the addition of a couple of extra feature events being run from a a couple of weeks back. With the Tour races for the Nationals All Stars and Junior Slingshots, the drivers flocked to the speedway with many new faces showing their talent and skills on the speedway. Once again the Smith Fanily was off and running with some superb heat racing action and seven feature events. The racing action at the 1/5th mile clay-cushioned facility has been remarkable with many outstanding driving personalities carving out their own claim to fame in weekly competition for age groups from 8 to 60 plus. The racing will once again take place at the speedway Saturday evening, August 31st, beginning at 6 PM.
The 2019 season is now fifteen weeks old and many special events have been already been completed but the heart of the racing schedule is ongoing and the racing action is always top flight at Hamlin. To recap the action on Saturday three drivers all bagged double wins at the speedway which is something that surprised all of the people on hand last night for the events. Kasey Hufcut captured both ends of the Junior Slingshot action and was matched by Jake Eby in the Regular and Rookie main events for the 600 Sprints and outside invader Dylan Hoch, who was smooth and steady as he outlasted the rest of the All Star Slingshot field with outstanding runs to capture both ends of his events. "Chops" Anthony Chrobak was fast and captured the feature win in the Stage One division for the Hampton RV & Trailer Sales Stage One Modifieds. Anthony Chrobak took over the lead at the start of the event as he as the pole sitter was quick to the task at hand. Adam Buchel wasted no time as he followed Chrobak around the speedway. Chrobak never made a mistake all through the event as he hit his marks on the speedway and held a close lead all through the entire distance of the event. Tanner VanDoren did get around Buchel for runner-up honors with Buchel coming in third, Michael Samony hustling hard for fourth and Amanda Buchel working really hard to come back for fifth position at the end of her run. The returning Cody Motto headed up the second five with Joel Price, Evan Civick, newcomer Mark Tishler and Lawson Szerencits. The event was halted early in the running as Jeff Hineline got upside down on the backstretch and did some flips before coming back to earth. Hineline was uninjured in the wreck.
In the Super Slingshots, Wes Hearn was the initial leader for seven laps until coming out of turn two his racer shut down creating a scramble with John Gilroy emerging as the leader of the event. That was all the Tannersville resident needed as he raced to the win. Jimmy Conroy followed Gilroy home in this one followed by Paul Ennes, Mark Exeter and Jeremy Hoffman.
The Rookie feature for the 600 Sprints began wildly as the front tier of Jacob Nemeth and Dennis Chamberlain got together with Nemeth going upside down and landing in a heap on the front stretch of the facility. Nemeth was uninjured in the incident. The turn of event allowed for Jacob Eby to move into the number one spot and he took advantage of the mishap and controlled the event once the racing continued. Tony Parlant raced into the runner-up role with Michael Nolf third, Cody Powell fourth and Richie Maguire completing the top five. Brandon Nicholas recovered from a spin to head up the second five with Rich Maguire, Jason Garcia, Dennis Chamberlain and Carmen Leggio following.
In the regular event for the 600 Sprints Eby emerged with the pole for the event. At the start Eby was quick to take the lead and that was all he needed as he took the lead over Colin White. White, a former track champion, was all over Eby from start to finish but Eby never waivered and took the win with White settling for runner-up honors. Reigning track champion Mick D'Agostino was third in this one with Alex Bright in fourth place and Tyler Lindsay settling for fifth. Brandon Bright was sixth with Joey Amantea, Joel Smith, Noah Zielinski, and Richie Maguire rounding out the top ten.
The Junior Slingshot found Charlene Benz leading the first two laps before encountering some mechanical gremlins. Doug Smith was johnny on the spot and began cruising towards victory lane. Smith found woes in his car on lap sixtreen while leading and pulled to the infield. Kasey Hufcut assumed command and led the rmaing couple of laps to victory. Outside invader Tyler Ulsh was the runner-up with Aidan Elliot doing great work to finish third. RJ Sherman, and Charlene Benz completed the top five. Adian Donaldson was sixth with Chase Zimmer in a new car seventh, Cole Perez in eighth, Isabella VanOrden ninth and Dillon Beadle tenth.
The All Star Slingshot event began with 32 cars hoping for a shot at the bag of gold at the end of the event. Dyaln Hoch began form the pole and that is where he stayed all through the 50-laps of racing action. Jared Silfee was second throughout the event and although he got close was never able to pull the trigger for the hometown fans and settled for second place. Cody Kline was steady throughout and claimed third place. Kyle Herve was solid for fourth and Scott Neary came in for ffith place. Shelby McLaughlin headed up the second five with Tanner VanDoren, Mike McLaughlin, Alan Kober and Brian Smith nailing down top ten finishes. Joey Kalafut, invader Dave Carraghan, Wes Hearn, Justin Newhard, and Ashley Kober closed out the top fifteen.
Kasey Hufcut took the lead at the start of the rained out feature event and led all of the way to claim yet another win at the speedway. Invader Tyler Ulsh was the runner-up. RJ Sherman, Isabella VanOrden, and Charlene Benz rounded out the top five with Doug Smith, Aiden Elliot, Chase Zimmer, Dillon Beadle and Jenna Amantea closing out the top ten.
Dylan Hoch took the lead on the first lap of the event and that was all he was going to need to go and capture the win. Jared Silfee was the runner-up with Scott Neary, Cody Kline and Kyle Herve following. The second five found Shelby McLaughlin, Dave Carraghan, Tanner VanDoren, Dale Kober and Paul Ennes following.
Pearl Jams:
The track was racy from start to finish and Track Promoter Randy Smith continued to work on the speedway as necessary for the activity on the speedway was non-stop but very racy throughout. The drivers carried out their mission of speeds successfully as Smith had new clay installed during the week and the drivers utilized all of the track throughout the evening of events.
Jared Silfee, Tanner VanDoren, newcomer Mason Pittenger and Dylan Hoch captured the heat wins for the All Star Slingshots in the first round while Cody Kline, Wes Hearn, Dylan Hoch and Paul Ennes captured the second. The Junior Slingshot heats went to Charlene Benz and Doug Smith and the second round of heats went to Tyler Ulsh and Kasey Hufcut.. The Stage One Modified heats found Anthony Chrobak and Adam Buchel being victorious. The Super Slinger heat found John Gilroy at the head of the pack. JPA Masonry Wingless heats were claimed by Zack Weisenfluh and Colin White. Wes Hearn captured the heat win for the Supers. The JPA Masonry Rookie 600 Sprints ran two heats and Jacob Eby and Jacob Nemeth were the winners.
Flagger Russ Furry was on hand last evening as well but in the grandstands sitting one out as he is still hobbled by some injuries he received while working. Veteran flagger and go to guy Mike Feltenberger filled in for Russ on the stand once again for the evening
Jay Powell captured the 50/50 last evening to the tune of $83.00
Great to have Alleson and Olivia back on board last night.

TRUEX TOPS WALL MODIFIEDS SATURDAY
WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. ~ Tyler Truex turned a disappointing season into a rewarding one Saturday night by winning the 40-lap main event for the All American Auto Group Modified stocks cars at Wall Stadium Speedway. The victory was the first of the campaign for the Mayetta resident.
Eddie McCarthy of Pt. Pleasant was impressive early in this race as he led Derek Hopkinson of Toms River through the first ten laps. The duo then touched at this point with McCarthy spinning from the lead. Hopkinson was then the leader of the test but Truex had now completed his run from sixth to second and applied the pressure. On the 16th lap Truex powered to the outside lane to take the lead.
The final half of the event saw Truex fight off the advances of Holmdel's Andrew Krause and Hopkinson who eventually finished second and third. The returning Ron Frees of Lanoka Harbor and Howell's Kevin Davison were fourth and fifth.
“This win is for my father,” Truex said in the winner's circle. “He is fighting health issues and I am so glad he is here tonight. He is the reason that I am a Modified driver today. Andrew Krause may have had the better car late in the race but he drove me clean all the way.”
The Surfside Collision 4 Cylinder Stocks battled in twin 25-lap main events with Neptune City's Jeffrey Loesch winning the first after taking the lead on lap eight. Howell's Brian Osborn, Ryan Maher of Neptune, Edison's Neil Rutt III and Alonzo Morales of Mt. Ephraim completed the top five. Championship point leader Rutt returned to win the nightcap over a top five of Morales, Maher, Loesch and Ian Ashford of Farmingdale.
Michael Rising of Little Egg harbor fought off the advances of Howell's Eric Lane for most of the first half of the 25-lapper for the Center State Engineering Sportsman cars before the duo touched and Rising went spinning from the lead. Lane then took command and raced on to the win over Farmingdale's Tommy Martino. Rutt, Jackson's Jarret DiGiantomasso and the recovering Rising wrapped up the top five.
Sean Verwys of East Stroudsburg, Pa. got his first win in the 25-lapper for the Green Flag Driving Experience Legend Cars fighting off Mason Magee most of the way. Invader Ron Milroy, Peter Bruno of Little silver and Joe McGrath of Brick were third through fifth.
Auto racing continues at Wall Stadium Speedway this Saturday (Sept. 14) night with the All American Auto Group Modified stock cars, the Center State Engineering Sportsman cars, the O'Shea's Auto Repair Factory Stocks and the Surfside Collision 4 Cylinder Stocks all on tap. Grandstand gates open at 5:00 p.m., qualifying begins at 5:45 p.m. and features start at 7:00 p.m.

ONE MORE SILVER DOLLAR: Brad Sweet gets second Silver Dollar Speedway victory
Sweet wins opening night of the Gold Cup for the second year in-a-row
CHICO, CA – Sept. 6 – The clamor of 24 Sprint Cars in a gladiatorial battle at Silver Dollar Speedway faded into the calm Northern California night. Several minutes later a new clamor slowly elevated outside the quarter-mile track.
“Brad Sweet. Brad Sweet. Brad Sweet! Brad Sweet! Brad Sweet!” Fans chanted the California-native’s name like a posse honoring a warrior’s victory.
Sweet out dueled fellow Californians, Tim Kaeding and Shane Golobic, to claim his second Silver Dollar Speedway win Friday night, and 14th World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series win of the year – 48th career win overall.
“We’re happy tonight,” said Sweet, of Grass Valley, Calif. “Tough racing out there. It’s treacherous. You never know which way the car is going to bounce or if you’re going to make a good corner or a bad corner. I just tried to stay up on the wheel. We pushed hard all night.”
His opening night had a sour start qualifying 14th of 30 cars. He rebounded in his Drydene Heat race by charging from fifth-place to second. That put Sweet in the DIRTVision Fast Pass Dash where he finished fourth.
The last three races at Silver Dollar Speedway had been won by a California native. The preamble to the Feature suggested that streak would see forth. Kaeding, of San Jose, and Golobic, of Fremont, occupied the front row for the Feature. Both won their Heat race. Golobic drew the pole for the Dash and ended up second to Kaeding.
In last year's two Gold Cup races at the speedway, Kaeding finished second both nights – once to Sweet. He wanted one spot better this year.
On the initial start, Kaeding jumped to the lead but Golobic was able to find grip on the bottom and keep pace with Kaeding running the preferred line on the high side. Sweet powered around Donny Schatz for third and begin his trek to the front.
To get to Kaeding, Sweet had to go through Golobic first. And the young Californian forced Sweet to exert all of his talent to do so.
After restarting the race for a caution on Lap two, Sweet snuck underneath Golobic and passed him for second down the backstretch. Sweet cleared the NOS Energy Drink No. 17w car off turn four. With Golobic gaining momentum around the high side, Sweet also tried to block Golobic’s run off the corner but failed. Golobic turned underneath the NAPA Auto Parts No. 49 and charged back to second-place around the bottom of turns one and two.
Four laps later, with 23 laps still to go, Kaeding began to pull away and Sweet took another charge at Golobic. The Kasey Kahne Racing driver charged around the outside of Golobic in turns one and two. However, Golobic, continuing to use the bottom to his advantage, powered his way back in front of Sweet off turn four. Sweet attempted to dive underneath him into turn one, but Golobic closed the door.
He hadn’t won, yet. Two laps later Sweet put together another run to charge to the outside of Golobic. The duo raced side by side, Sweet high and Golobic low, for two laps. With 18 laps to go Sweet was able to prevail, holding onto second with a firm grasp.
Kaeding had about a straightaway lead, but lap traffic was coming into play.
Sweet worked his way to Kaeding by the halfway point of the race. He got to the outside of the R&B Company No. 7s and drag raced him down the front stretch. Kaeding out powered Sweet into turns one and two, but slid his right rear off track down the back stretch, allowing Sweet to dart underneath him and officially take the lead on Lap 17.
“I stepped on my ‘you know what’ one little bit coming off of two,” Kaeding said. “Just gave Brad that opportunity to get by us.”
Sweet said he had to be aggressive on Kaeding to take the lead.
“It’s Tim Kaeding at Chico, he’s never going to be easy,” Sweet said. “I watched him my whole childhood dominate this place.”
Kaeding was then subjected to the same war with Golobic that Sweet had to battle through. The two California’s battled hard, swapping second-place several times. Justin Sanders, of Watsonville, Calif., even joined in on the battle for a few laps. However, Kaeding and Golobic were able to best Sanders in the closing laps and duel for second amongst themselves.
Before Sweet could run away with his second win in-a-row – having won Wednesday’s race at Willamette Speedway – a caution with eight laps to go gave Kaeding and Golobic their final shot at taking down the “Big Cat.”
When the race restarted, Sweet wiped away any hope they had of doing so. He pulled away with the lead, leaving Kaeding and Golobic to make their last few swings at each other for second. Kaeding won that battle, while Golobic maintained a podium finish in third.
“I had a really good battle with Brad toward the middle of the race and there at the end me and TK (Kaeding) were going at,” Golobic said. “There were two different lines. I felt like I could run the top or bottom, make speed. I just really enjoyed racing with those guys. We’re kind of hanging our head a little bit about a third-place run, but in the big picture racing with these guys and finishing top-three is nothing to hang our head about.”
While Kaeding had to settle for second for the third time in-a-row, during the Gold Cup Race of Champions event at the speedway, he still left with a smile.
“This R and B Company 7s, Jason Sides Motorsports, this thing hauls ass,” Kaeding said. “Hopefully we can move up one more spot tomorrow night.”
For the second race in-a-row, Sweet left with the biggest smile, the trophy and $8,000 check. He and his team are building momentum again and chipping away at Schatz’s championship points lead. In the past two races, Sweet has cut the reigning champion’s lead in half – now 18 points behind the 10-time Series champion.
His focus is on Saturday night at Silver Dollar Speedway, though, where fans clamoring his name would mark a victory he’s been in search of for a long time.
“Now we’ve got to get the damn Gold Cup,” Sweet said. “I haven’t been able to get Saturday night. I grew up at this place. I don’t think I’ve missed one Gold Cup my whole life. It’s a great event.”

Trey Starks earns second-ever All Star win during Port Royal’s Night Before The 50
PORT ROYAL, Pa. (September 6, 2019) - After spending much of his 2019 campaign focused on weekly competition at the famed Knoxville Raceway, Puyallup, Washington’s Trey Starks made his way ‘home’ to Central Pennsylvania and found success right from the start, winning an Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 main event in just his second attempt in the Keystone State since temporarily moving team headquarters to the Midwest.
The victory, a second-ever for Starks during All Star Circuit of Champions competition, was accomplished during Port Royal Speedway’s Night Before The Tuscarora 50; a preamble to the historic, yet unprecedented, $52,000-to-win Tuscarora 50, which will takeover Port Royal headlines on Saturday evening, September 7.
Starting from the outside-pole position, Starks took command for the first time on lap 13, taking advantage of Aaron Reutzel’s misfortune that occurred in the form of a flat left-rear tire. Although Kasey Kahne Racing’s James McFadden, who was battling in the runner-up spot at the time of Reutzel’s troubles, inherited the top spot, officially, Starks quickly proved he was stronger, utilizing the ensuing restart to drive under McFadden by the exit turn four.
McFadden held on to finish second at the ‘Speed Palace,’ followed by Brian Brown, Gio Scelzi and Anthony Macri.
“This feels awesome,” Trey Starks said, driver of the Central Pennsylvania-based, Scott Gobrecht-owned, E-Z-GO/Golf Cart Services/No. 44 sprint car. “It feels like the first part of this year nothing could go our way. We had tons of bad luck. As the year winds down, we are starting to get some luck. We had a fast race car last night (Bedford Speedway), and we had a fast race car again tonight. We’re really happy to be back here in Pennsylvania and to be able to put on a show for all of the fans.”
Clute, Texas’ Aaron Reutzel earned the early advantage from the pole position. The defending All Star champion led the first seven laps unscathed before reaching the back of the field for the first time on lap eight.
Despite Reutzel’s ability to open up to an impressive command that stretched to nearly a full straightaway, Starks displayed early signs of speed and quickly closed-in on the familiar No. 87.
Things started to heat up for the first time on lap nine, as Reutzel found himself trapped behind slower cars at the entrance of turn one. Forced to check-up with the intent to drive around traffic, the momentum shift proved to be too damaging for Reutzel which allowed Starks to close the gap completely. Unfortunately for Starks, caution flags on lap 10 erased all potential for a battle in traffic allowing Reutzel the opportunity to restart in clean air.
In a quick turn of events, the next caution on lap 13 was for race leader, Aaron Reutzel, who pulled to a stop with a flat left-rear tire. The caution allowed James McFadden to inherit the top spot, who gained the runner-up position over Starks on lap 11.
Although McFadden was in charge during the ensuing restart, he would not lead a lap, as Starks was able to power under McFadden and slide the Australia-native through turns three and four. Starks was now in charge and that is where he stayed.
McFadden did show signs of strength during the final four circuits, but Starks’ pace was too tough to tame.
“I couldn’t quite get the start I needed to get around Aaron (Reutzel),” Starks continued. “I knew he was going to set a really fast pace. But I did feel like, before that first caution, that we were running him down a little bit. Once I got to the lead, I told myself I was going to run as hard as I could and not worry about my tires.”

Tony Stewart’s All Star Circuit of Champions will conclude their three-day sweep of the Keystone State with the highest paying program on the 2019 All Star schedule: the 52nd running of the Tuscarora 50. The Port Royal Speedway showstopper will go 50 laps in distance and award a $52,000 top prize.
MAVTV Motorsports Network, the official television home of the All Star Circuit of Champions in 2019, will be on hand to capture action from Port Royal Speedway’s Tuscarora 50. The 50-lap Tuscarora 50 finale will be aired on MAVTV Motorsports Network via tape-delay broadcast on November 10.

SEAVEY STAMPS NEW CHAPTER IN MAGICAL SEASON WITH JACKSONVILLE WIN
JACKSONVILLE, ILL. (September 6, 2019) - When you're hot, you're hot; and Logan Seavey has simply been on fire in 2019. The Sutter, Calif. native made it eight victories in 14 starts with the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midgets on Friday night at Jacksonville Speedway. Storming from seventh-to-first, Seavey did so while outlasting a stout field and dangerously dancing on the edge of the cushion aboard his Keith Kunz-Curb Agajanian Motorsports, Mobil 1, Bullet/Toyota No. 67.
Extending his mark to 16 career victories, eight of which have come in 2019, Seavey inches closer to the record of most POWRi National Midget victories in one season, which is currently owned by Christopher Bell's 11-win campaign in 2014. Now, with ten races remaining, the 22-year old Toyota Racing Development star has a chance to break and potentially shatter Bell's benchmark.
Before he put the stamp on yet another unrelentless run to victory, Seavey had to take the green flag from the inside of the fourth row. Pacing the field out front, 17-year old Ethan Mitchell of Mooresville, N.C. had control of the start in his Bundy Built Motorsports No. 19M. However, it was the outside polesitter who controlled P1 when the opening circuit was recorded, as Jesse Colwell of Red Bluff, Calif. shot out of a cannon and put his IWX Motor Freight No. 71 to the point.
Driving away with ease, Colwell was dominant in the early stages while his KKM teammate, Jesse Love, maneuvered by Mitchell and took his JBL Audio No. 97K into the second slot. Early trouble for eighth-running Michael Pickens and fourth-running Robert Dalby hampered what were once two promising performances and bunched the field up.
While the battle for second turned red hot between Mitchell, Love and Seavey, the craziest moment of the night lurked around the corner. Going red on the tenth circuit, chaos ensued when third-running Ethan Mitchell caught the outside wall in turn two, sending his No. 19M into a frenzy of flips before landing on all four.
However, that was only the beginning. Climbing out of the car with a stuck throttle as the car leaned against the wall, Mitchell escaped the wreckage but his Honda powerplant continued to scream and light up the tires in a harrowing moment for fans and workers. After a few brief seconds of shock, a track worker stepped into the fray and reached into the cockpit, flipping the kill switch, and ending the madness.
Going back to green, Seavey instantly went on the attack, diamonding off turns one and two before rocketing by Colwell down the backstretch and clearing him for the lead with a turn three slider on lap 11. The final stoppage of the race came moments later when Jake Neuman slapped the cushion and went barrel-rolling in turn two on lap 13. He was okay and the race would restart for the final time.
Immediately gapping the field, Seavey pulled away while Tanner Carrick of Lincoln, Calif. hustled by Colwell to make it a 12th-to-second run. Throughout the final half, Carrick did all he could in attempting to track down a blistering-fast Seavey, but fell just short in his quest.
Leading the final 20 laps, Seavey set the Keith Kunz-Curb Agajanian Motorsports, Mobil 1, Bullet/Toyota No. 67 on cruise control in his dominating performance. The eighth win of his 2019 season and 16th of his POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League career brings the Sutter, Calif. one step closer to his own slice of history.
Chasing Seavey to the line and completing a Keith Kunz-Curb Agajanian Motorsports sweep of the podium was Tanner Carrick of Lincoln, Calif. in the Walker Filters No. 71K and. Jesse Colwell of Red Bluff, Calif. aboard the IWX Motor Freight No. 71. Behind them and filling out the top five was Tyler Thomas of Collinsville, Okla. with a 14th-to-fourth bid and Tucker Klaasmeyer of Paola, Kans. in fifth with the Link-Belt Excavators No. 27.
Also finishing inside the top ten was Cannon McIntosh in sixth, Jesse Love in seventh, Ace McCarthy in eighth, Daison Pursley in ninth and Sam Johnson in tenth.
The POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League will be back at it tomorrow Saturday, September 7 for a round at Spoon River (Canton, Ill.) Speedway alongside the Midwest Open Wheel Association Sprint Cars.

WISE BRINGS THE 39BC HOME TO VICTORY AT BC39

Speedway, Indiana (September 5, 2019).........Before he had even laid eyes on The Dirt Track at IMS, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway had already occupied a special place within the heart of Zeb Wise.
He'd been triumphant in a quarter midget at the Battle at the Brickyard and also became the first ever winner on The Dirt Track at IMS in 2018, snagging the Stoops Pursuit.
After Thursday night's victory in the Driven2SaveLives BC39 powered by NOS Energy Drink, the track became the showcase for a defining moment in the 16-year-old racer's burgeoning career where he led the final seven laps to score the biggest victory, and the richest payday ($15,000), of his young career.
One of the main influences on The Dirt Track at IMS becoming a reality was Bryan Clauson, the namesake of the BC39. Angola, Indiana's Wise has carried BC's spirit onward, driving for Bryan's father's Clauson/Marshall Racing team and piloting the No. 39BC on the USAC NOS Energy Drink Midget National Championship trail which he put into victory lane in front of a large throng of spectators on this memorable late summer night.
Wise's IMS story began earlier this decade when competing at The Battle at the Brickyard. It was there where Tim and Bryan Clauson, already a racing star in his own right, noticed Wise. When the time came, he was hand-picked by the Clausons to become a part of the team, leading him on the path to the biggest win of his career thus far.
"A lot of people don't know this, but Bryan and Tim, the first time they noticed me was at the quarter midget track that they run called Little Brickyard," Wise recalled. "That was the first time they ever got in contact with me. To carry over from the first time they saw me here, and now we're out there winning big races, it's very special not only to me, but probably even more special to the team."
Wise was in a hurry to get things done from his fifth starting spot at the drop of the green for the 39-lap main event. He whittled his way to second past Kevin Thomas, Jr. after the two clipped bumper to bumper off turn four when Thomas snagged the curb. Wise set up shop, went to the bottom and slid up in front of Thomas to pocket the runner-up spot.
Pole sitter Thomas Meseraull remained in control up front, keeping Wise in check a handful of car lengths back until the 18th lap. That's when a four-car quagmire ensued with Tucker Klaasmeyer first getting upside down, followed by Jerry Coons, Jr. plowing into Klaasmeyer and getting on his lid as well while Gio Scelzi and Cannon McIntosh also became entangled in the fray.
That's where it nearly came to a premature end for Meseraull, who made a hard left to avoid clipping the stopped car of McIntosh. Wise, just behind Meseraull, took evasive action as well, narrowly missing misfortune.
On the ensuing restart, Wise gained a full head of steam coming downhill off the top of turn two to zip by Meseraull for the race lead as Jason McDougal and Kyle Larson came in tandem to go to second and third as Meseraull slipped to fourth. A three-car chase at the front saw Larson go topside around McDougal for second and pounce when Wise bobbled atop the fourth turn cushion.
Larson instantaneously pointed his nose to the bottom and used a major run to slide across the nose of Wise into turn one, securing the lead off turn two. Moments later, however, Michael Pickens' car came to a stop in turn four, sending Larson back to second and returned Wise to the head of the field for the restart.
As he had done all throughout the night, Wise was a force on restarts, and was able to stretch it out to a half-straight lead by the back stretch on the lap 21 resumption. Nonetheless, Larson leashed Wise back in in no time and was clamped down on the shadow of Wise with less than 15 laps remaining.
On lap 28, Wise biked in turn three atop the cushion, which was basically be an extension of the outside concrete wall at that point. It was seemingly no harm, no foul, as Larson got on the binders to avoid contact with Wise. Both kept their foot in it and put their wills on the razor's edge in turn one as Larson attempted to slide Wise in turn one. With just enough room to fit the width of a midget and the thickness of two dimes between them, Wise never wavered from the top, kept his right foot on the hammer and escaped through the other side of the needle to hang onto the spot just before early race leader Meseraull flipped in turns three and four, concluding a promising run for the high-point man who led a race-high 18 laps.
On the following restart, all broke loose again, with Larson taking his run at Wise with a slider into turn three. By the time the two arrived at the exit of turn four, nowhere was there room to spare. Larson and Wise made contact, sending Wise ramping up the wall and landing on all fours while defending BC39 winner Brady Bacon snuck by on the bottom from fourth to first past McDougal, Larson and Wise to rip the lead away on lap 29.
Larson then slowed with a flat left rear tire to force a yellow flag, putting Wednesday's Stoops Pursuit winner/survivor out of contention for the win, although he did race back to a ninth-place finish. Meanwhile, Wise's mind was racing with concern over whether his race was in jeopardy, admitting he thought his race was over after the contact.
Following a lap 31 red flag for a McIntosh flip between turns three and four, Wise's curiosity grew stronger as he pondered what could be wrong at the moment with his Clauson-Marshall Racing/Driven2SaveLives - Sundollar Restoration/Spike/Stanton SR-11x.
"I knew something was wrong," Wise admitted. "Heck, I couldn't even hold it straight down the straightaways. I knew something was going on. We had a red flag there and the push truck driver came to me and I said, 'Dude, what is wrong with the front end?' He looked it over and said, 'Looks like you have a bent steering arm.' At that point, I knew it wasn't something serious, and that I didn't need to pull off the track because it was going to be a hazard or anything."
Thursday's win at The Dirt Track at IMS was Zeb Wise's fourth career USAC NOS Energy Drink National Midget feature victory, and his first outside the state of Pennsylvania.

Experiencing a handful with his steering wheel in addition to the flurry of action surrounding him, Wise overcame and persevered, utilizing a lap 33 slide job to overtake Bacon for the lead and bring CMR teammate Chris Windom along with him on the bottom, who cranked down the shocks and lay in wait to capitalize on any mistake by Wise down the stretch.
In a race that changed its complexion frequently and without hesitation, FMR Racing teammates Bacon and McDougal had drifted back to fifth and sixth where they tangled on the front straightaway on lap 35, ending the team's bid for a repeat BC39 victory.
Racing resumed with Wise and Windom continuing their side-by-side joust as Christopher Bell entered the ring and was challenging both for the lead as he followed Wise on the high side of three where he bounced and buoyed his way atop turn three with three laps to go, bouncing the left side of his roll cage off the track surface before springing back up and landing on all fours, putting a premature end to his bid for a win with front end damage.
Wise used another strong restart to gain separation on the lap 37 restart ahead of CMR teammates Windom and Courtney (who started 20th). Windom on the low line and Courtney up top dug in during their proverbial fist fight for the runner-up spot. Windom began a slow fade as the bottom began to slicken and Courtney found the traction up top to pull ahead coming to the white flag.
Wise put an end to the dramatics, stamping his name in Indianapolis Motor Speedway lore on the final lap as he nailed the entry and exit to each end of the racetrack on the 39th circuit to win by 0.372 sec. over Courtney, Windom, Chad Boat and Logan Seavey.
After a beginning to the season that saw mixed results, Wise has won three of the last five in USAC NOS Energy Drink National Midget competition, but none bigger than the one he earned Thursday night at IMS.
"We've been on such a hot streak lately," Wise said. "It doesn't matter where we go, you know we're a factor. When we came off that hot streak in Pennsylvania, I knew this was going to be the one that would really show what we've got, and we got it done."

Aaron Reutzel rolls to 11th All Star win of 2019 during Thursday night Bedford visit
BEDFORD, Pa. (September 5, 2019) - Aaron Reutzel’s march toward a second consecutive Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 title has been rocky at times, but the Clute, Texas-native gave open wheel fans all the reason to leave their doubts behind on Thursday night at Bedford Speedway, eventually ending his evening by leading all 30 circuits around the Bedford Fairgrounds half-mile, securing a Series-leading 11th victory in the process.
The win, accompanied by a $5,000 payday, also allowed Reutzel to snip away at Dale Blaney’s All Star championship point lead, this time narrowing the six-time champ’s command to just 16 markers with two events remaining on the weekend.
Three-time Knoxville Raceway track champion, Brian Brown, chased Reutzel to the final checkers, followed by Kasey Kahne Racing’s James McFadden, Dale Blaney, and a hard-charging Danny Dietrich, who rallied eight positions to find the top five.
“Hell of a run for this team,” Aaron Reutzel explained, driver of the Baughman-Reutzel Motorsports/Folkens Brothers Trucking/Fischer Body Shop/Hollywood Blasting & Coating/No. 87 sprint car. “We were great all night; unloaded with a fast hot rod. We’ve had a lot of heartbreak this year, but we always bounce back and get wins. That just goes to show what kind of a team effort we have here.”
Although a surefire favorite, as well as dominate, Reutzel’s campaign from the pole position did encounter some pressure from Grain Valley, Missouri’s Brian Brown, but not until after the midpoint of the 30-lap program. In fact, Reutzel’s lead was just over three seconds by the time the leaders received the crossed flags; it was down to less than three-quarters of second by lap 23.
A caution on lap 25 for a slowing Trey Starks, who was battling in the fourth position at the time, created a momentum shift for Reutzel and served as the break that Brown needed. Unfortunately for Brown, a clear track and clean air created the perfect recipe for Reutzel, immediately blasting away to a comfortable lead.
The main event’s second and final caution occurred on the white flag lap, this time setting up a green-white-checkered finish. Despite Brown’s attempt to capitalize, Reutzel did exactly what he did during the prior restart and quickly escaped to a comfortable advantage.
“I was happy to see that yellow, for sure,” Aaron Reutzel continued. “It got to the point where I couldn’t pass the lapped cars. But I was hoping since I couldn’t pass them, I couldn’t get passed.”
“Aaron (Reutzel) was probably better than me overall,” Brian Brown said, who will spend the next few weeks racing in Pennsylvania. “I found the rubber in one and two a little bit sooner than he did which allowed us to make up some ground. I could see he was having a little bit of trouble with the lapped cars, and I was having some trouble, too, which kinda slowed my pace down. The caution was an opportunity I needed.”
Tony Stewart’s All Star Circuit of Champions will continue their weekend venture through the Keystone State with a doubleheader at Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal, Pennsylvania, on Friday and Saturday, September 6 & 7. The 52nd running of the prestigious Tuscarora 50 will headline action at the ‘Speed Palace,’ kicking-off, officially, Friday evening with the $5,000-to-win Night Before The 50 preliminary program. The two-day showstopper will conclude with the 50-lap, $52,000-to-win Tuscarora 50; the largest paying program on the All Star Circuit of Champions campaign trail.
MAVTV Motorsports Network, the official television home of the All Star Circuit of Champions in 2019, will be on hand to capture action from both nights of Port Royal Speedway’s Tuscarora 50. The Night Before The 50, as well as the 50-lap Tuscarora 50 finale, will be aired on MAVTV Motorsports Network via tape-delay broadcast beginning November 3.
