Outlaws Forced to Postpone Return to Bridgeport Speedway
SWEDESBORO, NJ – May 21, 2018 – Mother Nature has struck again, forcing the postponement of the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series return to Bridgeport Speedway. The event was scheduled for tomorrow Tuesday, May 22, but extremely saturated grounds at the facility have forced the World of Outlaws and Bridgeport Speedway to postpone the event to a later date.
Both Bridgeport track officials and World of Outlaws officials were at the facility Monday afternoon and worked feverishly before making the ultimate decision that the facility will not be ready by Tuesday due to the amount of rainfall received over the last 72 hours.
Outlaw and Bridgeport officials are working on a date for a potential rescheduled event. Stay tuned to World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series social media channels for the most up to date information. The World of Outlaws 40th Anniversary Season continues Friday, May 25 with the Outlaw Showdown at The Dirt Track at Charlotte Motor Speedway before heading back to the Midwest.

Hafertepe Leads It All With ASCS Red River At Creek County Speedway
Bryan Hulbert - SAPULPA, Okla. (May 18, 2018) Taking off from the front row with the No. 15d of Andrew Deal, it was the No. 15h of Sam Hafertepe, Jr. who took off with the lead and never looked back with the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Red River Region presented by Smiley's Racing Products.
Getting laps at the Oklahoma quarter-mile in preparation for a Speedweek return on Thursday, June 14 with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by Sawblade.com, Hafertepe was chased to the line by Matt Covington who trailed by 2.128 seconds.
Struggling with mechanical issues in his Heat Race, Blake Hahn was on a mission when the green flag dropped for the 25 lap affair, cutting a path from 16th to third with Wayne Johnson and Tyler Thomas, from 10th, rounding out the top-five.
Sean McClelland in sixth was trailed by Micky Walker from 11th. Cannon McIntosh from 13th was eighth with Harli White ninth. From the 20th starting spot, Fred Mattox completed the top-ten.
The American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Red River Region presented by Smiley's Racing Products goes green again at Lawton Speedway on Saturday, May 19 with action getting underway at 8:00 P.M. (CT). Admission is $15 for adults with kids five and under free. Lawton Speedway is located at 3501 SW Sheridan in Lawton, Okla. The Outlaws Are Coming To Bridgeport Speedway

For the first time in fifteen years, the Craftsman World of Outlaws Sprint Cars are coming to the Bridgeport Speedway!
When the WoO last raced at the Bridgeport Speedway in 2003, it was Sammy Swindell who took home the win on the lightning fast 5/8th mile track. This time, however, the Outlaws will race on the Design for Vision/Sunglass Central 3/8th mile track at the Bridgeport Speedway on Tuesday, May 22, 2018.
Certainly, Fargo, North Dakota driver, Donny Schatz must be listed among the favorites when the Outlaws roll into the Logan Township speedplant for their one and only appearance in the state of New Jersey during the 2018 season. At press time, Schatz is leading the points and has already collected eight victories so far this season. As the driver of the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing No. 15, Schatz is competing in his 22nd season of competition with the World of Outlaws.
Brad Sweet is currently second in the points chase with a recent victory in the Twister Showdown in Salina, OK while driving for Kasey Kahne Racing. The 2017 Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year, Sheldon Haudenschild, is third in points after recording three victories earlier this season while driving for Stenhouse Jr - Marshall Racing.
Owasso, OK driver, Daryn Pittman has also recorded three wins so far this season as the driver of the Kasey Kahne Racing with Mike Curb No. 9. Aaron Reutzel, Cory Eliason and David Gravel have each recorded one win a piece at this point of the 2018 season.
Crowd favorites are likely to be the drivers racing out of Bobby Allen's stable - son, Jacob Allen and grandson, Logan Schuchart of Hanover, PA as they represent the east coast in this competition. There is also Dane Lorenc of Lancaster, NY who will be one of the drivers competing for Rookie of the Year honors during the 2018 season.
This event is sure to attract any number of competitors from the Central PA sprint car ranks as they take on the drivers of the World of Outlaws during their eastern tour.
The Design for Vision/Sunglass Central 3/8th mile track at the Bridgeport Speedway has provided some great racing so far this season. The World of Outlaws event is one you won't want to miss!
Joining the Outlaws on the race card for this event will be the 602 Crate Sportsman.
Pit gates open at 3pm and grandstands at 5pm with racing at 7:30pm. Reserved seating is available for $35. General admission to the grandstand will be $30 with kids 10-15 for $15 and children under 9 for free. Pit admission will be $40. Wednesday, May 23 has been reserved as a rain date should it be necessary.
As always, plan to arrive early and enjoy all that the Bridgeport Speedway has to offer! Live music, great concessions, a Bounce House and a big wooden monster truck for the kids to play on and as always, rides to the pits on the Bandit Bus for a look behind the scenes before the racing gets underway. Take home a Bridgeport Speedway souvenir or a copy of the Bridgeport Bullet, the official program of the Bridgeport Speedway.

David Gravel Wins a Wild One at Tri-State
HAUBSTADT, IN – May 13, 2018 – David Gravel was one of four different leaders in a crazy Feature at Tri-State Speedway and inherited the lead while running third when the leaders crashed on a restart. It was Gravel’s second World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series win of the 2018 season. Hunter Schuerenburg scored a career-best second place finish with Kyle Larson completing the podium.
David Gravel said it best, “It’s a 40-lap race at Haubstadt, anything can happen.”
Anything can happen and just about everything did happen. Gravel’s night started off with a bang, literally, as he made heavy contact with the wall on his first lap in Qualifying, nearly sending the CJB Motorsports No.5 for a ride. Gravel never came to a complete stop, recollected his machine and smartly took his car backwards around the track to make sure he had momentum for his second Qualifying lap. The veteran move paid off as Gravel laid the fifth fastest lap in Flight B, positioning himself nicely for his Heat Race.
Gravel would go on to finish second in his Heat Race and draw the front row for the Sears Craftsman Dash, an event he would win to earn the pole of the 40-lap Feature. The Watertown, CT driver shared the front row with a different face, as Kevin Thomas Jr., in his first Outlaw start of the season, came forward to finish second in the Dash.
Thomas, a non-wing Sprint Car ace, used the cushion to lead the opening lap. Gravel would pull a slide job in turn one and two and led the field down the backstretch of the second lap. Just as the yellow flew for Aaron Reutzel, heartbreak struck for Thomas. The studs on the hub sheared off, causing the right front tire to come completely dislodged from the Dooling Hayward Motorsports No.63 machine, ending the current USAC Points Leader's night in unfortunate fashion.
Gravel controlled the restart, but Indiana native Justin Peck showcased his speed as he powered around the CJB Motorsports No.5 to lead Lap 4. Peck set a blistering pace out front and put some distance between him and the rest of the field once he took command.
Sheldon Haudenschild would throw his name in the mix, taking third on Lap 13 and began quickly closing in on Gravel and Peck as they navigated lapped traffic. Haudenschild and Gravel thrilled the capacity crowd, exchanging slide jobs back and forth for multiple laps as they battled for the runner-up spot in exciting fashion. Sheldon just barely edged Gravel at the line before the caution flew on Lap 23 for Kerry Madsen.
Peck chose the top for the double-file restart, but an excellent restart for Haudenschild saw him grab the lead convincingly. A Lap 30 caution for Ian Madsen set up the restart everyone is talking about.
Haudenschild elected to the bottom with Peck to his outside. Peck tried a massive slide job on Haudenschild in turn one and two for the lead, but it ended with the duo making heavy contact, creating a logjam in front of the rest of the field.
After the race, the two drivers had a different perspective on the incident. Sheldon, obviously disappointed, thought that the incident was pretty cut and dry, while Peck called it hard racing.
“I thought I had a run on the restart, we were both racing hard. I hope there are no hard feelings going forward. It’s definitely a confidence booster to have this much speed, but we have to finish races,” Peck said after the race. Peck, Haudenschild and Brady Bacon, who was running sixth, all had too much damage to continue.
After the carnage was cleared, David Gravel assumed the race lead with 10 laps remaining, with Hunter Schuerenburg and Kyle Larson in tow. Gravel was strong, but Schuerenburg stayed right with him in search of his first career Outlaw win. Gravel made a bold move with two laps remaining, splitting two lapped cars, but once again Schuerenburg kept pace. Schuerenburg got a massive run down the backstretch on the final lap to make it a thrilling finish to the line as Gravel barely edged the No.20N by 0.101 seconds for the victory. The win was CJB Motorsports fourth win in their last five starts at Tri-State, dating back to when Paul McMahan drove for the Pennsylvania-based team.
“I tried to race a smart race, the lapped cars got tricky. I saw Hunter poke his nose there at the end, what a great run for him, I’ve known him for a long time and they’ve been good this year,” David Gravel said in Victory Lane.
“With me in the middle, I knew it would be tough to go around me and I was still able to see who was on the bottom.” “I’m happy to get another win, it’s been an up and down year so far, happy to get a win on Natalie’s [Jackson] birthday and on Mother’s Day,” Gravel added.
Hunter Schuerenburg was pleased with his career-best second place effort, “We’re slowly getting there, I’m not going to say we are there yet, these guys [we are racing against] are really good. Overall it was a great effort for my team, this deal is a lot of fun. We’ll just keep on rolling and see if we can get one here soon.”
Kyle Larson finished third, but never truly threatened the race leaders. “My car got better and better throughout the race. I had a lot of fun tonight, it was cool to be on the podium after not being in a Sprint Car in a while,” Larson stated.
Joey Saldana came from ninth to fourth with 14th-starting Donny Schatz completing the top five. Last year’s Outlaw winner at Tri-State Parker Price-Miller earned KSE Hard Charger honors coming from 22nd to eighth.
The World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series continues its 40th Anniversary Season and heads to Central Pennsylvania for a trio of dates with the Pennsylvania Posse starting on Wednesday, May 16 at the Lincoln Speedway before heading to Williams Grove Speedway on Friday and Saturday May 17 and 18 with the running of the Morgan Cup. BECHTELSVILLE, PA (May 13, 2018) – It’s that time of the year for honoring the American flag, enjoying a barbecue, tail-gating and taking in a night on the hill with a show of Modified, Sportsman and Sprint Car Racing all in one night. Thanks to the Thunder Series sponsor NAPA Auto Parts and race event sponsor Pioneer Pole Buildings, it will all happen at the Grandview Speedway on Sunday night, May 27 as the 29th season of Thunder on the Hill takes the first green flag of the season.
It’s an exciting Memorial Day holiday weekend for Grandview Speedway race fans; as this is more than just a race, the Sunday, May 27 event will showcase the 21st Annual Pioneer Pole Buildings TRAFFIC JAM. This event is just loaded with prestige and is one of those events every modified driver wants to add to their resume of greatest wins. Who won this event in the past ?
Previous Traffic JAM winners include Brett Hearn a four-time winner and the inaugural victor in 1998. Other TRAFFIC JAM winners include Matt Sheppard, Jimmy Horton, Tim McCreadie, Craig VonDohren, Jeff Strunk, Alan Johnson, Frank Cozze, Rick Laubach, Danny Johnson, Tim Fuller and the youngest Traffic Jam winner, 25-year-old Brett Kressley of Orefield, PA, the 2017 defending winner of this event.
Kressley, off to a strong start in 2018 would like nothing more then to make it a back-to-back Traffic Jam victory.
With a 7:30 PM start time, the Thunder Series kick-off show includes three exciting racing divisions competing on the Berks County dirt track – with the 40-lap Traffic Jam paying $5,000-to-win, $1,000 for tenth and $500 to start the Modified main event, a $1,300-to-win Sportsman showdown, and the MASS Sprint Car Series.
There is no entry fee and no track/series license required to compete in this event. A special rules package was created to accommodate all area competitors. Both American Racer and Hoosier tires will be allowed for competition, and Big-Block or Spec Small-Block engines are permitted.

Along with the Modifieds, the Sportsman will be in action competing in a 25-lap event with $1,300 going the winner. A similar relaxed rule package is available to the Sportsman teams and, as per Grandview Sportsman rules, sail panels will be allowed during this event.
The sprint cars round out this Triple Thunder Thriller with the MASS Sprint Car series participating in qualifying events and a 25-lap feature event.

The Pioneer Pole Buildings Mobile Sales Unit will be on display in the mid-way along with all of the Thunder on the Hill Racing Series mainstay promotions including the Low Down & Dirty Radio Show pre-race Meet and Greet, pit area tours, the Inside/Out Experience – where fans can watch hot laps from the infield, Joe ‘The Pizza Dude’ offering up free pizzas to the rowdiest fans, give-a-ways, and appearances by Miss Thunder on the Hill.
Helping to celebrate the Memorial Day Weekend will be a special fireworks display before the start of the main event.
Spectator gates will open at 5 PM, with racing action set for 7:30 PM. Adult General Admission is $25, Children 6-11 are $10, and Children 5 and Under are Free of Charge. Pit Area pricing is $35, and a license is not required.
Race fans interested in early admission can take part in our Advance Ticket Reserve. Advance tickets are available by calling 443-513-4456. You can leave a message with your name, contact number, and the number of tickets you’re requesting. Tickets may be picked up and paid for at the Grandview Speedway will call window on race night after 4:00 PM. Advance ticket holders are eligible to enter the grandstands at 4:30 PM a full half-hour before General Admission tickets go on sale.

CLOUSER CLEARS COMPETITION FOR FIRST WAR WILDCARD WIN
BROWNSTOWN, IL (May 12, 2018) - Mario Clouser triumphed at Fayette County Speedway in Brownstown, Illinois with the POWRi Lucas Oil WAR Wildcard Sprint League to score his first ever sprint car win of his career over hard charging Thomas Meseraull (2nd) and Landon Simon (3rd).
At the start of the 25-lap feature event Mitch Wissmiller took the lead, but Meseraull would sneak by after a few laps were in the books. Meseraull held a comfortable lead until the yellow flag came out for Austin Sears who spun to a stop in turn four.
With one lapped car between race-leader Thomas Meseraull and second-running Landon Simon, the green flag would fly. Meseraull bobbled in turns three and four as his car bounced off the cushion and he somehow kept control to keep going. Simon chased Meseraull down the front straightaway with a momentum-filled run, he threw the slider at Meseraull who crossed back over and they drag raced down the back straightaway. Coming out of turns three and four Meseraull held the lead while Mario Clouser snuck by on the bottom in front of Simon across the line. Soon after, Logan Faucon flipped in turns three and four causing the red flag to be displayed. Faucon would walk away.
Three laps remained in the race with Meseraull still in the lead, Clouser followed him, Simon was third, Korey Weyant ran fourth, and Colten Cottle rounded out the top five. The green flag waved for the final time. Meseraull and Simon laid it all out on the line banging the cushion around the top of the racetrack giving it all they had, but neither could outrun Mario Clouser who found the sweet spot on the bottom groove of the racetrack late in the event.
"It's a great feeling!" Said Clouser in victory lane when asked how it felt to get his first WAR Wildcard win, "I was very close more than once last year to picking up a win, but something always managed to not go my way in the closing laps. It is awesome to finally be able to seal the deal on a win and to do it with some tough competition here tonight makes it even sweeter."

The POWRi Lucas Oil WAR Wildcard Sprints are back in action Wednesday, May 30 alongside the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Cars at Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois.
The Missouri-based POWRi Lucas Oil WAR Sprint League resumes its season with a two-day weekend coming up. WAR will head back to Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Missouri for the second time this year on Saturday, May 26 followed by a much anticipated trip to Double X Speedway in California, Missouri on Sunday, May 27. Both events are points races for the POWRi Lucas Oil WAR Sprint League.

Hafertepe Holds Off Swindell For Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series Victory At I-30 Speedway
Bryan Hulbert - LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (May 12, 2018) Scoring his first victory of the 2018 season with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by Sawblade.com, Sam Hafertepe, Jr. had to hold off Sammy Swindell to get the job done at I-30 Speedway this past Saturday night.
Entering Saturday fourth in tour standings, Sam leaves I-30 Speedway tied with Seth Bergman for the National Tour point's lead with the nod to Bergman who has a pair of wins on the season.
"For the fifth night on this car, we're making strides. Jack Elam called me, and he asked if there was anything he could do, and I said it wasn't anything a little wrench won't fix. We've been working hard the last couple days. We were really disgusted after Lakeside to start on the front row and fall back like we did, but to come out tonight and start fifth and get to the front it was awesome, and winning on Mother's Day Weekend, I have to just thank my Mom and wish her a Happy Mother's Day."
Taking the lead with a Lap 15 pass through turns three and four on race long leader Derek Hagar, the two-time National Tour Champion was joined at the front by Swindell on Lap 18. Clawing his way to second from the 16th starting spot, a restart with three laps to go locked Sammy on the back bumper of the Heidbreder Foundation No. 15h.
"Sammy just had an unfortunate Heat Race. It was one of the last ones where the track changed to the bottom where it was hard to pass, so that's why he had to start that far back, but I knew he'd be coming. He's got this track's number and we all know that he's the guy we have to hold off no matter if he started 16th of 20th, he'd be coming," stated Sam on the front straightaway.
Hafertepe's 31st career Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by Sawblade.com triumph, the second attempt at green after Harli White spun in the first and second turns put Sam to third behind Derek Hagar and Wayne Johnson to start things off.
Working Lap 2, the red lights blinked on as Seth Bergman flipped going into turn three. Seth was unharmed, and the race resumed with Hagar starting to put distance over the field. Still chasing Wayne Johnson for second, Hafertepe worked multiple grooves with the No. 2c able to hold until Lap 11 when the cushion in the first turn bit, and sent Wayne flying. Able to stay upright, Wayne rejoined at the tail.
Taking over second with Sammy Swindell already up to third, Hafertepe kept pace with the No. 9jr before finally diving to the lead through the third and fourth turns on Lap 15. Caution working Lap 17 for Skylar Gee who slowed drastically in turn-three with the field bearing down, the laps rolled back to 16 complete with Hafertepe taking off with the lead.
Slowed again on Lap 19, Swindell was all over Hafertepe for the lead. Able to utilize the center through turns one and two to keep his momentum up, Swindell pulled even with Sam at one point, but would not be able to complete the pass.
Never out of striking distance, it was high-speed chess as the pair began racing among the back makers, only to have the caution waved for the final time with three laps to run.
Taking the center through the first and second turns to try and get a run on Hafertepe for the lead, Swindell still trailed with all other attempts coming up short.
Sammy's 33rd career podium finish with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by Sawblade.com, the wily veteran was joined by three-time National Tour Champion, Tim Crawley, who advanced from the 11th starting spot. Along with Sammy, the "Crawdaddy" was among the few who could make the top of the track work in the feature.
Derek Hagar held on to finish fourth with Marshall Skinner making up the top-five. Picking up the CP-Carrillo Hard Charger of the Night, Howard Moore advanced position 15 times to finish sixth. Oklahoma's Tyler Thomas from 15th crossed seventh with Blake Hahn eighth. Matt Covington put on a charge from 17th to ninth with Johnny Herrera finishing 10th.
Overall, 38 drivers took to the I-30 Speedway on Saturday night. Heats numbered five with Sam Hafertepe, Jr., Derek Hagar, Travis Rilat, Blake Hahn, and Dale Howard picking up wins. A pair of BMRS B-Features went to Cody Gardner and Matt Covington. Two Owner Points Provisionals were used by Roger Crockett and Scott Bogucki. One Regional provisional was awarded to Kevin Hinkle.
Next for the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by Sawblade.com will be the start to Speedweek at West Texas Raceway in Lubbock, Texas on June 8.
