BRYANT DAVIS LOOKING FOR FIRST FEATURE WIN IN 2017 WITH MID-ATLANTIC SPRINT SERIES

Twenty-nine year old Bryant Davis is eagerly awaiting the start of the 2017 Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series race season with high hopes and ambitions in making this year his most successful yet.
“My plans are to race as much as possible with MASS - ultimately the full schedule - just as long as everything goes well,” Davis stated at the 2017 PPB Motorsports Racecar & Trade show this past weekend. “We’ve had a history of engine failure issues, so as long as that holds up, we should be able to hang in there until the end.”
The Norwood, PA resident, who pilots the Bruce’s Auto Body #15B, plans on starting this season off at the season opener at Bridgeport Speedway on April 30th. MASS has a total of twenty races on its newly released schedule, which contains events at tracks such as Bridgeport Speedway, Grandview Speedway, Big Diamond Speedway, Delaware’s Georgetown Speedway, and a few co-sanctions events with the PA Sprint Series at historic tracks like Williams Grove, Susquehanna and Port Royal.
Davis, who started racing at the young age of nine years old in quarter midgets with Delaware’s Blackbird Quarter Midget Race Club, moved up to 270 Micro Sprints at fourteen years old and then 600 Micros at sixteen years old, where he raced at Airport Speedway and Bridgeport Speedway.
“In 2014, we began to notice how fast the Racesaver 305 division began to grow in this area, and we talked to a few of our friends who had already made the move up into the full-sized Sprints, and we found that there really was no difference in cost compared to the 600’s. The cost of tires and the amount of fuel that was used was the only added expense, so we decided to sell all of our Micro stuff, and we purchased a 305, and we began racing with the Tri-State Racesaver Series”.
“I am really excited for the inaugural season with the new Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series,” Davis said. “This is going to be a good change, a change for the better. This division has such a diverse group of drivers and the competition is no joke. There is a large group of experienced drivers who have raced anything from Micro Sprints, Modifieds, to 360 and 410 Sprint Cars. We all respect each other on and off the track, and I’m just glad that the Racesaver 305 division will be able to continue to thrive under this new management in this region”.
Bryant and his father, Bruce Davis, who will be coming on board to sponsor the hard charger for each feature event this season under the Bruce’s Auto Body banner, field there orange #15B with a two man crew consisting of themselves. Bruce’s Auto Body will give $25 cash each week to the driver who is awarded hard charger of the night.
Sponsors who Bryant would like to recognize are Precision Dent Works (Aston, PA), Custom Auto World (Prospect Park, PA) and Bruce’s Auto Body (Sharon Hill, PA).
“I’ve learned a lot over the past few years, and I’m hoping the knowledge that I’ve acquired will get us that first feature win!” Bryant concludes. “We’ve been getting closer to our goal, after winning a few heat races and earning a couple top fives, so if all goes well, I think we will visit victory lane in 2017”.

28TH NAPA AUTO PARTS THUNDER ON THE HILL RACING SERIES RETURNS TO GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY IN 2017
Bechtelsville, PA (January 8, 2017) -- Five events highlight a series of specials that would make even the most loyal race fans salivate for the 28th year of action for the NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series events at the Grandview Speedway. One hundred and twenty-four events have been presented in this co-promotion between Bruce Rogers, owner of Grandview Speedway, and Bob Miller, special events promoter -- with nearly 4.3 million dollars distributed to competitors. The Thunder Series started as a 410 stand-alone event in August of 1990 and expanded to presenting multiple divisions from WoO Late Models and Sprints to USAC and SCRA non-wing sprints to include DIRTcar Modifieds and All Star Sprints plus a long list of support divisions.
NAPA Auto Parts, the sponsor of the Thunder Series has been part of these wildly popular event since that first race in 1990. NAPA and their local stores will again be the lead sponsor of the Thunder Series.
For the fourth consecutive year, the Sunday night of Memorial Day weekend (May 28) will kick off the NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series with a 358-Small-Block/Big-Block Modified spectacular that includes the Sportsman and the Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series. The modifieds will compete for $5,000 to win the 40 lap feature with an attractive $500 to take the green flag. With the Grandview Speedway racing on both Saturday and Sunday night, this Holiday weekend is filled with exciting action on the Grandview 1/3-mile dirt track.
The first mid-week event takes place on Tuesday, June 13 for the annual invasion of the USAC National Sprint Car Series, EASTERN STORM. These wingless warriors will take part in the Jesse Hockett Classic and will be joined by Grandview’s headline division – the 358 Modifieds. This marks the eleventh annual swing of the USAC Eastern Storm and as tradition stands, Grandview Speedway will host the opening night.
Nothing says ‘This is America’ quite like 410 Sprint Cars and we celebrate our Independence Day on Tuesday, July 4 with the Pennsylvania 410 Sprint Car Speed Week – a gathering of the region’s top Sprint Car competitors in a lucrative event that includes the very best of the 358 Modifieds.
Thursday, August 17 the NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series presents a Sprint Car showdown like no other when the nationally touring Tony Stewart’s Arctic Cat All-Star Circuit of Champions Sprint Car Series returns to the Grandview Speedway competing for the 3rd Annual Thunder Cup. Joining the All-Stars is the ultra-competitive Sportsman division. In the 2016 event, Steve Kinser and Sammy Swindell were surprise 410 sprint entries and a surprise or two are planned for 2017. Prior Thunder Cup winners were Danny Dietrich 2015 and Stevie Smith in 2016.
The Thunder series rounds out 2017 on Saturday, October 14 with the MODS at the MADHOUSE Triple Thunder Thriller Halloween Party featuring a 40 Lap Big-Block/Small-Block Modified challenge that includes the Sportsman and the Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series. This event will continue the tradition of the popular Halloween Party getting underway at 6 PM
The 2017 racing season will include the Thunder on the Hill Racing Series mainstay activities and promotions, providing fun for the fans with elements such as: Pre-Race Pit Tours, the Inside/Out Experience – where fans can sign-up to watch hot laps from the infield, the Low Down & Dirty Radio Show pre-race Meet & Greet, JOE “THE PIZZA DUDE”, giveaways, fireworks, and appearances by the Thunder Girls.

MID-ATLANTIC SPRINT SERIES PREPARING TO OPEN 2017 SEASON AT PPB MOTORSPORTS EXPO OAKS, PA

Kicking off their first inaugural season under a new name and new management, the Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series is ready for the thirty-second annual Pioneer Pole Buildings Motorsports Expo on January 20th, 21st and 22nd.
“Over these last few months, Jeff Geiges and I have been working hard at trying to improve 305 Racesaver® Sprint Car racing in our area, and after listening to a majority of race teams, we hope to be heading in the right direction,” Eddie Wagner, Regional Director of the Mid-Atlantic Sprints explained. “Motorsports is always an exciting way to kick off the year. It’s a great way to interact with drivers, teams and fans that may have questions and concerns, and it’s a great way to show off all the hard work that has been going on behind the scenes”.
The Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series will be in booths 1008, 1009, 1108 & 1109. Doug Snow, driver of the Snow Motorsports #777 and David Bonner, driver of the #57v will be on hand with their cars in the MASS booth. Both drivers have already expressed their enthusiasm for the upcoming season.
Prospective members will be able to purchase their membership pass for the season during that weekend. After purchasing a MASS membership pass, drivers and owners will be eligible for the end of the year points fund as well as contingency prizes that will be presented at the banquet and during special events throughout the season. Members will also be able to vote on the points structure, visitor policy and handicapping at the upcoming winter meeting that will be held sometime after Motorsports. Prices for the Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series membership pass are as followed; $95 for a driver/owner combo and $75 for an individual pass for either a driver or owner.
“We are hoping to release our schedule in the upcoming weeks prior to Motorsports. These last few weeks have been crucial in locking key dates for the 2017 season that we are hoping to be seen as appealing to everyone,” Jeff Geiges MASS General Manager stated. “We have races at six different venues, with a possible seventh in the works. Our schedule should consist of eighteen to nineteen races, which is what majority of the racers asked for at our initial meeting back in November”.
The 3-day show will fill 250,000 square feet of the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center with just about everything imaginable in motorsports available for attendees to see.

TOMMY CARBERRY EYES 2017 MID-ATLANTIC SPRINT SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP
Posted by: | CommentsOur first driver profile is up! My brother-in-law Tommy Carberry won his first feature this past October at Grandview Speedway after having a successful season with TSRS in 2016. Now, the 29 year old pilot of the number 28 Carberry Motorsports 305 Racesaver Sprinter is excited for new beginnings with the Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series!
Ringoes, NJ resident, Tommy Carberry, is ready to take on the veteran competition of the Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series this coming season, in hopes of capturing more feature wins after ending 2016 with his very first victory at Grandview Speedway, and if all goes well, Carberry hopes to take home the series championship in 2017.
“I plan on running every race with MAS this year, as well as a few PASS 305 events also,” Carberry stated. “I’m hoping to kick-off my season by traveling down to South Carolina to race with the Carolina Racesaver Sprint Series. They have a two-day national event on April 28th & 29th that I would love to get down to. Then, I’m going to drive home that Saturday night so that I can participate in our season opener at Bridgeport on Sunday April 30th”.
Tommy comes from a large and well known racing family, with his Grandfather Tom being a mechanic on many modified teams back in the 60’s and 70’s, his father Tom and uncles Kenny and Chuck Carberry both former Modified and Sprint Car drivers, as well as his cousin Adam Carberry who formerly raced in the 305 ranks, recently moving to URC this past year. He is also recently married to 305 Sprint Car driver Stefanie Palmai Carberry, who also collected her second career feature win in 2016 at Bridgeport Speedway at the final points race in September.
Tommy started racing go-karts at the age of fifteen, and after two years, he moved up to the Rookie Sportsman Modified division at New Egypt Speedway in 2006 where he would win two features before moving forward to the regular Sportsman class. In 2009, Carberry bought a Big-Block Modified engine where he competed at New Egypt Speedway for four years before finally purchasing a Racesaver 305 Sprint Car.
“It was something that I have always wanted to do,” Tommy said about switching to Sprint Cars. “I have always loved Sprint Car racing, so when New Egypt dropped the Big-Blocks at the end of 2012, it was a great opportunity to try something new, and it was an affordable way for me to race something that I am competitive in, without having to go broke doing”.
Not able to ever run the full schedule due to other life commitments and events, Carberry commends the Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series for keeping the schedule under twenty races for 2017 so that he can run for the championship. After already winning at Grandview in 2016, Carberry is confident and excited to see what “new beginnings” will bring for himself and the series at the booked events at Bridgeport, Georgetown, Big Diamond, and the new tracks that will be a new experience for the twenty-nine year old driver.
“I’m excited for 2017 for a number of reasons,” Carberry expressed. “I’m happy that the schedule is not going to be overwhelming, so that I won’t have to worry about missing races for other life events that may come up for me. I have also taken the time to better my racing program, seriously going over my stuff so that I can have top-notch equipment so that I can be a top car every week, winning more races. In our division, there is definitely a handful of cars that you can count on winning every week, and I want to be one of those cars this year”.
Carberry, a full time auto body technician at Integrity Auto Body located in Ringoes, NJ, is currently searching for sponsors to help financially back his 2017 aspirations, but would like to welcome back aboard Champion Tire and Integrity Auto Body to his team for the upcoming season. Also helping him weekly at the track is his father Tom Carberry and long-time friend Brian Hendrickson.

USAC UNVEILS LIGHTNING SPRINT NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP BEGINNING IN 2017 SEASON
USAC, the largest and most diversified professional sanctioning body in the country, announced a new National Championship Series beginning in 2017. The Speedway Motors Lightning Sprint National Championship will be added to a historic lineup of prestigious titles for 2017.
"With the many clubs across the country to be unified in rules and procedures, it's a pleasure to create a program that enables many to pursue a championship with USAC," USAC National Series Director Levi Jones said.
Lightning Sprints are an open wheel car with a motorcycle based power plant and wings. A winged division will be unique within USAC as a majority of the existing classes are wingless. These cars are capable of producing 200 horsepower and utilize much of the same construction and components that USAC Midgets do. Drivers will compete on many of the same sized tracks across the country as well.
The organization and management of the division is also unique. Satellite Lightning Sprint groups exist across the United States and Canada. These groups are managed by individual club leaders or boards. The groups will continue to operate as before with the option of hosting a set number of USAC-sanctioned events. These events will be noted on their 2017 schedule and will count toward the National Championship points structure. A 10-race minimum will be scheduled with a best of 12 race points tabulation. The points system is weighted by the number of cars competing and allows an individual to win a national title from their home track. The top-10 positions in National Championship points will be paid cash and contingency awards at season's end. The inaugural champion will receive national accolades in addition to a $3,000 reward.
The uniformity in rules has attracted many sponsors to this new series. Hoosier Tire is one of the many who have already pledged support through a multiyear relationship. Cars will be required to use Hoosier tires on all four corners during USAC-sanctioned Lightning Sprint events. Speedway Motors - America's oldest speed shop - is the title sponsor with a myriad of others eager to launch this series. Sponsoring companies include AFCO, CSI, PRO Shocks, My Race Pass, Saldana Race Products, Aeromotive, Weld, Rod End Supply, Hoosier Speed, Outlaw Wings, Racing Optics and Emi.
Registration for this series will begin Jan. 1, 2017, online. All drivers competing for national points must hold a valid USAC license for this series and must adhere to general guidelines set forth in the registration process. Eligible drivers must be 13 years of age on the day of the sanctioned event. Scheduled tracks must carry a minimum level of liability insurance, which group leaders will verify.
USAC is the most diversified racing organization in the country. With youth engagement and a broadened reach across multiple racing platforms, USAC is excited to highlight Lightning Sprint racing in 2017 and to carry on its more than 60 years of sanctioned events.
Joining the likes of National Sprint cars, Sliver Crown, and Midgets, Lightning Sprint competitors will share the stage with the country's elite open wheel racers during USAC's Night of Champions in December 2017.

INDIANAPOLIS (December 14, 2016) - Formally announced during the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions celebration in Indianapolis on December 9, Arctic Cat, the official recreational vehicle supplier of the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions, will extend its partnership with the traveling 410ci sprint car circuit as the title sponsor through the 2017 and 2018 seasons.
