EVERYTHING HE NEEDED: Brad Sweet sweeps Independence Day Spectacular
The reigning champion wins big on CBS Sports Network, earning his seventh win of 2020 and pocketing $40,000 for the weekend
NEW RICHMOND, WI – July 4, 2020 – Brad Sweet took a quick glance at his right rear and shouted, “Woo! That’s all you need.”
With little tread left to spare, the reigning World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series champion’s tires propelled him to his third consecutive win at Cedar Lake Speedway Saturday night – sweeping the two $20,000-to-win Independence Day Spectacular Features.
“We had two unbelievable cars this weekend,” said Sweet during the historic CBS Sports Network broadcasted event. “I can’t thank my (Kasey Kahne Racing) guys enough for all of the hard work. It might look easy but I’m telling you this is a lot of stress; a lot of hard work and it’s paying off.”
While Sweet had to fight his way from ninth to the lead – further back than the night before when he went from seventh to the win – his NAPA Auto Parts #49 car still appeared to be in a different league. He had everything he needed. A good team. A good car. Good tires. And a head full of confidence.
However, his night didn’t start that way. Sweet’s name was rarely mentioned throughout most of the event. With a third-place finish in his Drydene Heat Race, Sweet was one spot short again of making the DIRTVision Fast Pass Dash, placing him ninth in the lineup for the 35-lap Feature.
David Gravel positioned himself as the early favorite by winning the Dash and claiming the pole for the Feature. With a large crowd of fans in attendance – who all passed through a state-of-the-art COVID-19 screening – and thousands more watching on CBS Sports Network, Gravel led the 24-car field to the green flag and pulled away.
His straightaway lead was cut to nothing when a caution came out for Scotty Thiel slowing on track on Lap 4. That positioned second-place Kerry Madsen to his outside and third-place Sheldon Haudenschild behind him on the restart. Gravel was able to pull away from the field again, but when he hit slower traffic a few laps later Madsen and Haudenschild closed in.
Their battle was like a yo-yo with Madsen closing in on Gravel and then fading back. Haudenschild would close on Madsen and then fade back. The three drivers did this for the next 10 laps before Kraig Kinser entered the picture.
Kinser worked his way by Haudenschild for third on Lap 18 and then got by Madsen for second 10 laps later. At the same time, Sweet made his presence known. Rolling around the bottom, Sweet worked his way through the field and passed Haudenschild for fourth with about nine laps to go. He almost stole third and second from Madsen and Kinser shortly after before a caution came out.
Sweet continued his masterclass of running the bottom on the restart and made quick work on Madsen and Kinser.
With seven to go, he passed Madsen for third. With six to go he passed Kinser for second. And with four laps to go, Sweet was at Gravel’s bumper.
Gravel was committed to the top, as it hadn’t served him wrong all race. But with three laps to go, Sweet passed him around the bottom like his Jason Johnson Racing #41 was down a cylinder. He then had to watch Sweet put his car on cruise control and drive away with the win – forcing Gravel to remain winless at the 3/8-mile track and take his sixth second-place finish there.
“After that first caution I didn’t know where to run,” Gravel said. “(Crew chief) Philip Dietz was telling me where to go. We were good on the restarts and I thought I felt the best on the top… We’ve just got more work to do. We really want to get a win. We’ve been struggling bad. A second and a fourth (for the weekend) is nothing to hang your head about, but when you lead these many laps you want to win.”
If you ask Sweet, he didn’t think he’d get to Gravel.
“The track started more wet than everyone thought and we were extremely tight,” Sweet said. “I felt like I was in a non-wing car there a few times. I was just trying to bide my time, you know, trying to realize it’s a long race and hope the cautions play into my favor. But when you have that good of a car, you can go on different parts of the racetrack than other guys.”
The win is Sweet’s fourth at Cedar Lake Speedway and seventh this season in 19 starts – his 57th career World of Outlaws win overall. The Independence Day weekend event is also the second event this year that he’s swept.
While Kraig Kinser missed out on the win, his third-place finish is his first top-five of the year and his first podium finish since a second-place finish at Skagit Speedway in August.
“We’ve been fast all weekend,” Kinser said. “We learned a little bit of what not to do during the Friday show. We were fortunate to capitalize on a good qualifying show. I got really good through the center of that race and probably got a little aggressive and I really think during that long run I might have heated my tires and blistered them up a little bit… The [Mesilla Valley Transportation] car was just rolling around good and was a dream to run tonight.”
Along with having everything he needed to pick up the win and $40,000 between the two-day show, Sweet also extended his points lead again – now 114 points ahead of second-place Logan Schuchart. Ten-time Series champion Donny Schatz remains third – now 116 points back. Both Schuchart and Schatz had a rough night, suffering flat right rear tires. Schatz finished 14th and Schuchart finished 16th.

Buddy Kofoid earns July 4th Speedweek victory over All Stars at Fremont Speedway
FREMONT, Ohio (July 4, 2020) - Forced to settle for second after getting overtaken with five laps remaining one night prior at Attica Raceway Park, Penngrove, California’s Buddy Kofoid redeemed himself in a big way during night two of Cometic Gasket Ohio Sprint Speedweek presented by Hercules Tires, eventually leading all 35 circuits to score a second-ever Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 victory in front of a packed house at Fremont Speedway.
Starting from the pole position by way of dash victory, Kofoid’s campaign at the front of the field was relatively uncontested, with his only real challenges in the form of restarts, three in total, and a long altercation with lapped traffic.
Although a sure-fire favorite in any All Star main event, two-time and defending Series champion, Aaron Reutzel, was unable to apply any pressure on Kofoid after attaining the second spot on lap 15. Reutzel would drive home second, followed by Cole Duncan, Greg Wilson, and the evening’s fast qualifier, Josh Baughman.
“Yea, shit, I don’t know what to say,” Buddy Kofoid said in Fremont Speedway victory lane, driver of the Ed Neumeister-owned/Gill Construction/Linder’s Speed Equipment/No. 11N sprint car. “Last year if the track was like this, we would have been a podium or a top-five car. The guys have really picked it up and we got our car so good on slick tracks like this. Even at Attica last night, we were so good. I can’t thank Ed Neumeister and everyone enough for what they do for me. They let me come out and have some fun. This is only my third sprint car race this year, so to have a first and a second with the All Stars is pretty damn cool.”
Despite a pair of red flag stoppages on lap five resulting in an early fuel stop, as well as an additional caution on lap 15, it was smooth sailing for Kofoid at the front of the field, and with the first-half cautions negating any chances for traffic, it was not until lap 23 when the frontrunners reached slower cars for the first time.
By lap 27, traffic intensified, now stacked-up two and three wide in front of Kofoid and second-place running Aaron Reutzel. In a desperate attempt to navigate by a potential roadblock, Kofoid drove high through turns three and four and passed two lappers at once, clearing the pair just before completing lap 28. The move essentially sealed the deal for Kofoid, opening up to a near-straightaway advantage by the 35th and final circuit.
“We had some lapped cars there at the end that kinda made things a little interesting, but I was able to get them,” Kofoid continued. “I knew once we had some cars behind us, I figured it would maybe take some time for the guys behind me to get them.
“I have to leave after Monday to go run the (Keith Kunz Motorsports) midget, so hopefully some of you guys will watch the midget race, too!”
The $5,000 All Star triumph was Kofoid’s first at Fremont Speedway, with his first-ever All Star victory taking shape at Wayne County Speedway during the 2019 edition of Ohio Sprint Speedweek.

BACON MAGNIFICENT IN SPRINTACULAR TRIUMPH AT LPS

Putnamville, Indiana (July 4, 2020).........Brady Bacon's run of misfortune over the past three USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car races had run the gamut, beginning with a crash not of his own doing one week prior, followed by mag issue after mag issue after mag issue ever since.
The Broken Arrow, Okla. native's tide was seemingly turning midway through Saturday's second and final night of the 6th annual Bill Gardner Sprintacular at Lincoln Park Speedway, co-sanctioned by MSCS, as he stormed to the lead midway through the 30-lap feature after starting 8th. Soon after, that old notion of "if it wasn't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all" seem to rear its ugly presence.
"When I got the lead, I think that's when our tire started going down," Bacon recalled of the deflation on the right rear. "I wasn't able to make the speed I was able to make to get to the lead. I was kind of having to play defense and use the lapped cars as blockers."
However, that tide did finally turn for Bacon on this night as everything stayed intact until the checkered flag with the tire completely going down as he rolled into victory lane for the third time this season in his Dynamics, Inc./Fatheadz Eyewear - DriveWFX.com/Triple X/Rider Chevy, just in the nick of time.
"I think if we would've had a yellow there at the end and that tire would've gone flat, I would've just driven it off the end of the track and came and got it later," Bacon semi-joked.
The triumphant victory for Bacon was the 32nd of his USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car career, tying him with 1973 series champion, longtime USAC official and National Sprint Car Hall of Famer Rollie Beale for 12th all-time.
Bacon's recent misfortunes began with a crash at Plymouth one week ago while running third, then snowballed with a slew of magneto issues under the hood, first with the Hoffman's own car during a local show at Lawrenceburg (Ind.) Speedway. Then, last Wednesday at Terre Haute, Bacon was running second late when another mag failure befell him despite driving a completely different car with a different engine that night.
Following those two instances, Bacon and team changed the mag and made a trip to the dyno prior to suiting up for Friday's first night of action at Lincoln Park. He ran hot laps, qualified and transferred through his heat race, when suddenly, another mag went out, and he was unable to fire off for the feature before being pushed back to the pit area prior to even seeing the green flag.
"That's more mag failures than I've had in my entire career in the last three nights," Bacon related. "It was frustrating to have cars we knew we're good enough to be on the podium, at least, every night and be in contention to win and not be able to."
"I feel like these are the nicest cars I've ever had and the most prepared we've ever been," Bacon continued. "It's stuff that never happens that's not really in our control; it gets pretty frustrating. I'm thinking 'I feel like I'm living right. I feel like I'm living pretty good. I'm not even living on the edge or anything.'"
Yet, Bacon has resolve and thrives when put behind the eight-ball. In fact, in both of his USAC victories this year coming into Saturday night, Bacon was the KSE Racing Products/B & W Auto Mart hard charger, having to come from 9th to win during each night of the Winter Dirt Games in Ocala, Fla. to start the season in February.
"We felt like we were missing a little step earlier in the night," Bacon remembered from the beginning of Saturday night's event. "I just made a bad decision in qualifying and kind of put us back. In the heat race, we did win, but we didn't feel like we were good enough to win the feature. We made some changes, and obviously they were the right ones."
Starting 8th in the 24-car field, Bacon made quite a bit of headway early on, moving to 7th on the opening lap, to 6th on the second lap, to 5th on lap four, into 4th on lap five and finally to 3rd by lap seven, interrupted only by a Max Adams lap two spin while running 5th and a lap four Stephen Schnapf flip in turn one from which he emerged without injury.
Justin Grant commanded the opening 14 laps, but nearing the halfway point, it was a tale of differing lines among the top-three of Grant, C.J. Leary and Bacon, with Grant utilizing the top of turns three and four and the bottom of one and two while Leary was glued to the bottom and Bacon was ripping the top.
On the 15th lap, Bacon was able to clear Leary off the second turn, then continued the roll to press by Grant off four to possess the lead by a nose at the stripe.
Grant attempted a succession of sliders on laps 16 and 17 into turn three past Bacon, but each time, Bacon had an answer and promptly cut back underneath Grant to reclaim the lead with Leary lurking on the bottom just about even with the two at the head of the pack.
"Justin was sliding up to the middle of four and I was leaving the gap into three really big," Bacon explained. "It's kind of a dangerous spot to be in even though it may be faster, but it's not if he gets in front of me. I'm just racing as hard I could and trying to make good decisions and, fortunately, we didn't make any bad enough to lose the lead."
On the 19th lap, Leary was able to nip his way into second by Grant and relentlessly hounded Bacon in his pursuit to the front where he ultimately put himself in a position to pounce on Bacon when the leaders reached a throng of traffic with five laps remaining.

Leary surged ahead of Bacon while scurrying around the bottom with four laps remaining but had to readjust his line as he followed Adams on the bottom of turn one. That allowed Bacon, carrying the momentum up top, to surge back ahead of Leary off turn two, and beating the defending series champ to the line by a half-car length with now three laps to go.
Leary was able to eat up ground and briefly take the lead entering turns one and three, but Bacon shot off the exit of turns two and four each time to hold serve, barely. With two go, Bacon saw an opportunity with a slight break in the traffic to beat Leary in a race to the bottom of turn one, taking away Leary's line.
Entering the final set of corners on the 30th and final lap, Leary was forced to follow Bacon around the infield tires while Grant made one final push off the rim as Bacon captured the victory with Leary just behind in second and Grant third in a top-three that was separated by a mere 0.172 of a second.
Those three were followed by Chase Stockon, Tanner Thorson, Brent Beauchamp, Dave Darland, Kevin Thomas Jr. and Brandon Mattox with Carson Short rounding out the top-ten.
In Fatheadz Qualifying, Brent Beauchamp earned his first fast qualifying time in USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car competition since the 2012 Indiana Sprint Week opener at Gas City I-69 Speedway.
The car count of 57 Saturday night was the largest for a USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car race since the Western World Championships at Arizona's Manzanita Speedway in November of 2008.

WINNING CONFIDENCE: Brad Sweet pockets $20K with thrilling Cedar Lake win
Kasey Kahne Racing continues to dominate, earning its sixth World of Outlaws win of 2020
NEW RICHMOND, WI – July 3, 2020 – Confidence can be a superpower.
Reigning World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series Champion Brad Sweet proved that Friday night at Cedar Lake Speedway.
Like Superman having to fight his way through a rolodex of foes to save Lois Lane, Sweet powered his way by six competitors in under 35 laps to claim his sixth win of 2020. He also pocketed the $20,000 top prize – the second biggest winner’s purse of the year.
“Obviously, we have a lot of confidence right now, but we also have a lot of confidence at this racetrack,” said Sweet, of Grass Valley, CA. “I’ve ran really well here for three or four straight years now. There’s something about my driving style, the grip level, whatever. Figured we dug ourselves a little hole in qualifying. So, it’s really neat to be able to go 16th quick (in qualifying), sixth to third in the Heat and then seventh to winning the Feature. It shows we never give up and have good race cars right now.”
The victory is his second consecutive win at the 3/8-mile track. His previous win at the track last year showed he and his Kasey Kahne Racing team were championship caliber. After a part failure in the first of two Features in a day, the KKR team got a back-up car ready in less than an hour and went on to win the second Feature.
This year, during the Independence Day Spectacular weekend, they continue to emphasize that they’re in championship form once again.
For the second day in a row, participants and the large crowd of fans entered the facility by first going through a state-of-the-art COVID-19 screening process. With Qualifying already completed on Thursday, the night’s program stated with three Drydene Heat Races.
Sweet missed out on making the DIRTVision Fast Pass Dash by finishing third in his Heat but later proved that wasn’t a hinderance.
Kyle Larson Racing driver Carson Macedo positioned himself early as the driver to beat. He won the DIRTVision Fast Pass Dash and pulled away to about a two second lead in the first few laps of the Feature.
Logan Schuchart, who won his first Jackson Nationals title last weekend, moved past Ian Madsen for second in the opening laps and then caught Macedo in traffic a few laps later. They battled side by side for several laps, with Macedo up top and Schuchart low. The Drydene #1S would dive under Macedo into the corner, but the Tarlton & Son #2 had the better momentum off the turns up top.
Schuchart eventually found an opening to the outside of Macedo and officially passed him for the lead on Lap 14. Macedo was determined to get his second win of the season and drove back by Schuchart the next lap.
While the two battled, Sweet closed in. Once Schuchart’s charge at Macedo faded, “The Big Cat” worked his way by the Shark Racing car and began his hunt of Macedo.
Looking like Superman at full speed, Sweet bolted underneath Macedo going into Turn 1 with 13 laps to go and grabbed the lead. From then on, he ran his NAPA Auto Parts #49 car to its redline. Not only because he wanted another win, but “The Mad Man” Kerry Madsen was on the move behind him. He worked his way past Macedo for second in the closing laps and cut a tenth of a second out of Sweet’s lead every lap.
However, time was on Sweet’s side. Before Madsen could get in a rhythm to dwindle down Sweet’s two second lead, the checkered flag waved over the blue KKR machine.
“These NAPA Auto Parts guys give me a great car night in and night out,” Sweet said in Victory Lane. “It honestly doesn’t matter what track we’re at right now. They’re working hard and it’s paying off. We’re running a little hot here, but we gave it our all.
“It was a fast 15 (final) laps there and I could see the leaders. I was thinking we were going to get a caution but never did. I had to get up on the wheel and make it happen. Got to the lead and tried to run the hardest possible pace I could. I saw Kerry (Madsen) got to second. I know he rips around this place. It was a great race. So happy to be in front of a full crowd here tonight. Thank you so much for coming out.
Madsen – a three-time winner at the track – said it took him a while to find his rhythm around the bottom. Once he did, he started picking off cars but ultimately had to settle for a runner-up finish – his best finish of the season, so far.
For Macedo, who finished third, the race was another learning curve. He’ll be spending the night on DIRTVision, watching the race and seeing where he can improve.
“I’ll go back and look at the video to see what I can do better so we can start winning these World of Outlaws races more consistently,” said Macedo, the 2019 Rookie of the Year. “Now that DIRTVision has the Exclusive page where the race is posted moments after the race is over, we go back there and watch the those and see how our race car was and dissect what I do as a driver. In order to win these World of Outlaws race you have to be mistake free 100 percent.”
Sweet’s confidence filled, and mistake free, night helped him extent his points lead over second-place to 82 points. Schuchart has moved into that runner-up spot over 10-time Series champion Donny Schatz, who is now third. Schuchart finished fifth and Schatz ended the night 11th.
DOBMEIER TRANSPORTED: Racing for a transfer position in a Heat Race Friday night at Cedar Lake Speedway, Mark Dobmeier was involved in a crash. He was awake and alert when transported to St. Paul Hospital for further evaluation.

Cap Henry earns second-ever All Star victory in Ohio Sprint Speedweek opener at Attica Raceway Park
ATTICA, Ohio (July 3, 2020) - For the second time in his career, and for the first time at Attica Raceway Park, Republic, Ohio’s Cap Henry is an Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 main event winner, doing so over a stout contingent of 46 entries during night one of Cometic Gasket Ohio Sprint Speedweek presented by Hercules Tires.
Impressive, nonetheless, Henry’s route to Attica Raceway Park victory lane commenced from the third row, forced to work his way to the front twice while fending off former All Star winner and California standout, Buddy Kofoid, as well as two-time All Star champion and current Series point leader, Aaron Reutzel. Henry’s second and final takeover occurred on lap 35, using the last inch of Attica’s bottom groove to sneak under Kofoid as the pair battled off of turn four.
Kofoid chased Henry to the final checkers, followed by Reutzel, Cale Thomas and Cale Conley.
“Brett and Patty Lane gave me a great opportunity here and we continue to make the most of it. Zack (Meyers) came on board last year and this is incredible,” Cap Henry said, driver of the Brett and Patty Lane-owned/Dragon’s Milk White/Beer Barrel Bourbon/Pro Auto Wraps/FK Rod Ends/No. 4 sprint car. “I’ve come so close to winning one of these speedweek races here and to finally knock one off is so cool.”
Starting from the fifth position, Henry’s initial jump proved to be beneficial, using momentum to slip his way into third before the completion of lap one. Aaron Reutzel, fresh off of a win at Volunteer Speedway, led the field from the outside-pole.
By the end of lap three, Henry had powered by Kofoid to take control of second, now setting his aim on the defending All Star champion. Inching closer and closer as the laps clicked down, Henry was in position to take the lead for the first time on lap 12, eventually cruising by Reutzel on the bottom just as the leaders were approaching slower traffic. Kofoid mimicked Henry’s move and also powered by Reutzel to take second on lap 15.
The 40-lap main event’s first and only caution appeared on lap 21 ultimately setting up a single-file restart. A better launch for Kofoid proved to be a benefactor for the Penngrove, California-native, using the top of turns one and two to slingshot around Henry before pinching off the No. 4 in turn three.
Although Kofoid was able to maintain composure and keep command, Henry never lost sight of the Ed Neumeister-owned entry and kept himself within striking distance. By lap 35, Henry was ready to pounce again, this time squeezing by Kofoid on the bottom of turn four.
Despite one last encounter with traffic, Henry held tough, driving away to a $5,000 payday.
“Once Buddy (Kofoid) got back by me, I just needed to settle down and get back into my rhythm,” Henry continued. “I kept trying to get lower and lower, all while avoiding the infield tires. I just had to be patient. Lucky for me, our car was great on those long runs. We ended up getting back to him just in time.
“I really wasn’t sure what to do for that restart. I heard (Kofoid) and then I saw him, then I knew I was in trouble. I just had to get settled down and rely on my car on those long runs.”

COTTLE THROTTLES TO BILL GARDNER SPRINTACULAR WIN AT LPS

Putnamville, Indiana (July 3, 2020).........It all started with a late-night phone call on Thursday night for Shane Cottle from Hodges Motorsports asking if his plans were open for Friday night.
Just about 24 hours later, Cottle was celebrating in victory lane following Friday's opening night of the sixth annual Bill Gardner Sprintacular at Lincoln Park Speedway featuring the USAC AMSOIL National and Midwest Sprint Car Series.
The last-minute deal came together as the team's original plan was to sit out the weekend and focus on preparations for next week's Brandt Corn Belt Nationals at Knoxville Raceway. But that one phone call, as it turned out, changed the course of the weekend in a hurry.
"He called me last night probably around 10:30pm. He asked me if I wanted to go racing. It wasn't on our schedule; he's got a schedule that we go by. I said, 'Well, I have to talk to my wife.' So, I talked to her. She really wasn't wanting me to, but I said I'm going anyway. Luckily, it all came together," Cottle said with a laugh.
Cottle rolled off sixth for the start of the 30-lap feature, and right from the get-go, he felt the bottom of the racetrack play right into his hands as he got to fourth on the opening lap.
"I knew on the start that it was going to be pretty good," Cottle remembered. "I just knew I was a little faster than they were and, luckily, they kept slipping up off the bottom and I snuck underneath them. When you go past those guys, it makes it a little fun."
"Those guys" up front included the likes of past USAC champions C.J. Leary and Dave Darland while Cottle zeroed in on perennial Lincoln Park winner A.J. Hopkins for third on lap three, then set forth toward Justin Grant and Carson Short, who had snared the top spot from first lap leader Grant on the second circuit with a turn three maneuver that slid him past for the position.
Following a fifth lap yellow flag for a turn three spin by Brandon Mattox, Grant went back to work on tracking down Short and made his move on the seventh go-around drifting up the turn three banking of the 5/16-mile dirt oval past Short for the spot. Short checked up and got shuffled back to third as Cottle maintained his momentum around the infield tires to race to second behind Grant.
One lap later, Grant endured a slight bobble atop the cushion between turns three and four, opening the chamber for Cottle to throttle past underneath for the race lead on the eighth lap.
Cottle, in his Hodges Motorsports/Hodges Automotive - Mesilla Valley Transportation - Jackson Compaction - Ortega Appliance/DRC/Gibson Chevy, was undeniably hooked up as he steadfastly stretched his lead throughout the midway point to around a one-second interval entering the final 10 lap stanza.
The Kansas, Ill. native was undeniable throughout the entire distance, and was rarely challenged down the stretch while a hotly-contested tussle between Grant and Leary engaged for second, which allowed Windom to slip past Leary and into the third spot on the 21st lap while Grant secured his position in second.
Cottle closed out his fifth career USAC National Sprint Car feature win by 1.488 second margin at the checkered, ahead of Grant, Windom, Leary and Chase Stockon, who made his debut in the KO Motorsports No. 5s, with who he recently announced he would compete with for the remainder of the 2020 USAC season.
Cottle estimates that he's driven the Hodges Motorsports No. 74x a total of six occasions this year, and he's already won twice, the first of which came in a late May POWRI WAR feature at Missouri's Valley Speedway.

Josh Hodges, the one-time USAC National Sprint car winner at Lawrenceburg (Ind.) Speedway in 2016 who had piloted the team's car for the past several years, stepped out of the driver's compartment this past season and into a mechanical role for the team. The decision for him was based on a myriad of reasons, namely taking on a new promotion at work, getting married and moving, plus slight dizziness that he attributed to a possible wreck he had in the past.
Into the ride stepped Cottle, who's found instant success in the car, and admitted that they might've found the elusive balance that they had been searching for, something that could lead to quite a bit of continued success, much like the success they enjoyed Friday night at Lincoln Park.
"This is the best racecar I've ever sat in," Cottle revealed. "Every nut and bolt is just perfect. They've made it a nice car to drive. They won't do all that work if I don't go out and do my job. So, we're pretty happy with it."
Like a walk-off homer, Cottle isn't planning on backing up his triumphant performance Saturday for night two of the Bill Gardner Sprintacular at Lincoln Park. While Friday's quick decision on a whim led to victory, don't expect any surprise returns to the racetrack on Saturday.
"We're not (racing). I've got a graduation party for my stepson tomorrow, so we're going to go do that. If I miss that, I would be in trouble with my wife," Cottle guffawed.
