Tuscarora weekend continues Saturday with Tuscarora 50 finale
PORT ROYAL, PA. (September 9, 2016) - For the first time in 2016 and for the fourth time in his career, the “Black Bandit” Stevie Smith is a main event winner against the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions at Port Royal Speedway, this time scoring the Night Before The Tuscarora 50 victory to officially kick-off Tuscarora weekend at the “Speed Palace.” Smith, who started third on the feature grid, took command for the first time on lap 12, eventually holding back Greg Hodnett and Lucas Wolfe by nearly 2.5 seconds to score the $5,000 top prize. It was Smith’s 17th career victory with the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions, equaling his father’s total on the all-time Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions win list.
“I am really happy to be out here tonight,” Stevie Smith said in victory lane. “I’ve always really enjoyed racing at Port Royal and I like winning at Port Royal. Although, I have to be truthful, I like winning at any track. It seems like it gets harder and harder to win every year. This track is putting on a great show for us here this weekend. I can’t thank everyone enough. They are the real reason why we are out here.”
Pole sitter Greg Hodnett took command during the initial Night Before The Tuscarora 50 main event start, leading Brock Zearfoss and Stevie Smith by the flag stand for the first time. Despite Hodnett’s ability to quickly extend his advantage at the front of the field, reaching a near-two second lead by lap 5, it was Lance Dewease who was creating the most noise.
Within two circuits, sixth starting Lance Dewease was already putting pressure on Stevie Smith, Brock Zearfoss, and Greg Hodnett, ultimately stealing third from Smith at the completion of lap two, and second from Zearfoss on lap three. The Fayetteville, Pennsylvania, native locked himself down on the bottom of the speedway, erasing Hodnett’s near-two second lead by lap eight, eventually driving under the familiar No. 27 on lap nine during a battle in traffic.
Unfortunately for the pilot of the Don Kreitz-owned/No. 69K, the dominance would soon come to an end, unexpectedly pulling to a stop on the backstretch on lap 11. This would allow Greg Hodnett to inherit the lead once again, followed by Stevie Smith and now Dale Blaney.
Greg Hodnett’s campaign at the front of the field would only last a single circuit, eventually overtaken by Stevie Smith with a textbook slide job between turns three and four on lap 12. That move would prove to be the winning move with Stevie Smith surviving the remaining 18 circuits of the 30 lap main event to earn his place on the coveted Port Royal Speedway victory lane stage, crossing under the final checkers nearly 2.5 seconds ahead of Greg Hodnett and Lucas Wolfe, who worked his way back to a podium finish by lap 13.
“We were just so tight at the beginning. It took us half of the race to really get going,” Stevie Smith explained. “Lance (Dewease) was really good tonight. I’m not sure how we would have ended up if he wouldn’t have broke. I just had to go where the car told me to go and where I thought the car was right. It hasn’t been right a lot this year, but it paid off tonight.”
The 49th running of the Tuscarora 50 will cap off a full weekend of competition for the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions at Port Royal Speedway, awarding a minimum of $12,000 after 50 laps of green flag competition on Saturday night, September 10. The Tuscarora 50 finale, a show-up points event for the Arctic Cat All Stars during their third and final Port Royal Speedway appearance of 2016, will also award lap money on top of the five-digit payday, which will be accumulated during the entire main event.
Port Royal Speedway will open Tuscarora 50 pit gates and main gates at 4:00 pm on Saturday, September 10. A mandatory drivers meeting will be held at 5:45 pm, followed by hot laps at 6:30. For more information, please visit Port Royal Speedway live on the Web at www.portroyalspeedway.com.

GROSSO AND STRADA CLAIM SPORTSMAN AND SPRINT VICTORIES AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY IN FRIDAY NIGHT RACING ACTION
BECHTELSVILLE, PA SEPTEMBER 10, 2016 . . . Rising young racing talent Brandon Grosso hung on for an exciting Sportsman victory, Friday night at Grandview Speedway, while Eddie Strada blew the doors off the competition to take home the dominating win in the TSRS 305 Sprint Car main event, as part of the third annual Night Before the Freedom 76’er events at the high-banked third-mile dirt track in Bechtelsville, PA. For both it was their first career victory at the track.
With his win Friday night, Grosso now has 16 victories in 2016 at five different tracks, as he enjoys a tremendous campaign.
With the displaying of the green in the annual Sportsman 38’er, pole sitter B.J. Joly vaulted out immediately into the lead over Mike Koffel. On Lap 2, Brad Arnold, who started third, moved into second spot and Grosso, who picked fifth to start in the prerace draw, was fourth. After three circuits it was Joly in front of Arnold and Grosso as the top three.
Exiting Turn 4 on the high outside on Lap 5 it was Arnold going around Joly to become the new race leader. Two tours later Grosso advanced into the runner-up role.
A caution on Lap 12 regrouped the field after Todd Huffman spun in Turn 4 all alone.
Green again and it was Grosso surging ahead off Turn 2 running on the high outside, dropping Arnold to second, with Grandview 2016 Sportsman track Champion Jordan Henn, who started in twelfth, now up to third. Craig Whitmoyer of Hamburg, PA was running a solid fourth. Another yellow after 15-laps for a spinning Brad Roberts slowed things.
“I had to chase down that 830 car (Arnold) for a while to get out in front,” explained Grosso, 16, of Montgomery, N.J. “The track was great, though. You could run up on top or low down on the bottom and it produced great racing all-around tonight.”
The Lap 16 restart showed Grosso again out in front over Henn of Kutztown, PA and Whitmoyer, with Arnold now falling back into fourth-place. By Lap 21, Grosso started to stretch out his advantage, as he got into lapped traffic. The lapped traffic actually allowed Henn to start to close in again by Lap 30.
With two to go, Grosso was caught up in heavy traffic, with Henn and Whitmoyer right on his tailpipe.
The final go-round had a thrilling three-car battle to the checkered, with Whitmoyer ducking underneath Henn to steal second. Whitmoyer actually inched in front of Grosso at one point, but Grosso won the race to the flagstand over Whitmoyer, Henn, Arnold and Jim Housworth.
“I didn’t know which way to go those final 5-laps,” revealed Grosso, a third generation racer. “The lapped cars seemed to be all over there at the end and it made us really have to work hard to win this one tonight. I got stuck, there, for a while behind the lapped cars and it sure made it exciting at the end.”
Grosso took home $1,500 for his triumph and earned the Dan’s Deli Halfway Hoagie award as the race leader at the crossed flags.
Heat winners included Grosso, Roberts, Mike Lisowski and Huffman. The consolation races were won by Ryan Lilick and Brian Papiez.
The 25-lap TSRS 305 Sprint Cars feature showed Joe Kay jumping out in front from the pole over Scott Frack and Bryant Davis. A red on Lap 3 stopped the event after Chris Allen rolled it over in Turn 4.
With the restart it was Kay again on top over Frack and Scott Lutz, with Davis now fourth. On Lap 5 Davis advanced into third. By Lap 8 Davis was on the move taking second spot and on Lap 10 Davis roared by Kay to become the new race leader.
Strada started from eighth spot and was also advancing into third-place with 10 circuits in the books. Lap 11 saw Strada, a third generation racer, climb to second, as he slipped by Kay and on Lap 12 it was Strada using the high outside lane to race around Davis and become the new leader, as the yellow was waved for Davis spinning out all alone in Turn 4.
“I saw I had a shot going for the lead, there, and the car just stuck on the top,” explained Strada, 19, of Lake Ariel, PA. “First I thought that 15 car (Davis) was going to slide up and pull a slide job on me, but I hit the gas and the car just got away. Later, once I came around under yellow, I saw he was up near the wall and he had just spun out.”
With the new green Strada was off to the races, as he quickly advanced to a full straight-away lead by Lap 16. Three tours later Strada was a full straight-away plus out in front and by Lap 22 he had a full half-lap advantage over the competition. Strada easily won his first career TSRS 305 Sprint Car main over Lutz, Mike Haggenbottom, Tim Tanner Jr. and Tommy Carberry.
Heat races were won by Allen, Haggenbottom and Strada. No consolation was needed.
“Once I got out in front I thought I’d just hit the gas and run the hell out of it,” commented Strada. “I had a shot at racing another race tonight and winning a championship, but I thought coming to run at Grandview Speedway and winning here would mean a lot more.”

Bixby, Oklahoma's Shane Stewart Kicks Off Gold Cup Race of Champions in Victory Lane at Silver Dollar Speedway
CHICO, Calif. - Sept. 9, 2016 - Putting a recent string of bad luck behind him Bixby, Oklahoma's Shane Stewart proceeded to score an emphatic victory on opening night of the World of Outlaws Craftsman® Sprint Car Series sanctioned Gold Cup Race of Champions at Silver Dollar Speedway on Friday.
Stewart has shown immense speed during the Western Swing, and it paid off with his sixth victory of the 2016 season aboard the Larson Marks Racing No. 2 machine. It was also the second straight season he opened the Gold Cup Race of Champions in victory lane.
"This has always been one of those events that I've wanted to win, so hopefully we can come back tomorrow and do the same," Stewart commented following the race. "We've had some tough luck, but have gained a lot of speed lately, which has given me a lot of confidence. These races are so hard to win with the competition that it's always a big deal when you can do it. My guys have worked really hard so I can't thank them enough. We got through traffic pretty well in the main event, and the cautions fell our way. We'll now try and do it again tomorrow."
Stewart took the lead from Brownsburg, Indiana's Joey Saldana on lap 11 in traffic and led the remaining distance without worries, except for one slight moment with a couple laps left when he got over the back stretch. It allowed Saldana to close, but Stewart was able to hang on and take the checkered flag by 0.680 seconds.
Saldana himself was locked in a closely fought battle with Wooster, Ohio's Jac Haudenschild. The two former Gold Cup champions ran closely together the final half of the race, which ended with Saldana claiming second at the stripe.
Saldana had taken the lead at the waving of the green flag over pole sitter Mason Moore of Princeton, California. "My guys worked really hard tonight and it's nice to be back up here on the front stretch," said the driver of the Roth Motorsports No. 83 mount.
"Having a shot to win is all you can ask for and we were right there tonight. Shane [Stewart] did a good job in traffic and he had some really nice restarts. We'll come back tomorrow and try to get one spot better."
Haudenschild came home in third to continue what has been a solid week driving for California car owner Paul Silva. He hounded Saldana's rear bumper for a number of laps, but couldn't quite find a way by.
"Paul Silva gave me a great car again, so I want to give him a huge thanks. It's nice to be back at the Gold Cup. I've always loved coming here to Chico over the years. It would mean a lot if we can get another one tomorrow."
Owasso, Oklahoma's Daryn Pittman claimed a fourth place finish for the second race in a row, with Fargo North, Dakota's Donny Schatz rounding out the top-five. The remainder of the top-10 was completed by Grass Valley, California's Brad Sweet; Fremont, California's Shane Golobic; St. Mary's NSW, Australia's Kerry Madsen; Eunice, Louisiana's Jason Johnson and Watertown, Connecticut's David Gravel.
One red flag period occurred during the feature when a multi-car pileup was seen in turn three on lap 12. Rutherford, California's Rico Abreu and Nashville, Tennessee's Paul McMahan both got upside down during the melee, but were okay. Also involved were Jacob Allen, Logan Schuchart, Kyle Hirst and Jason Johnson.
As noted, Mason Moore won the Craftsman Club® Dash, while Hanford, California's DJ Netto captured the C-main and Clarksburg, California's Justyn Cox claimed the Last Chance Showdown. Four 10-lap heat races were held during the night, with victories going to Joey Saldana, Mason Moore, Jac Haudenschild and Shane Stewart.
With 38 cars signing in for opening night of the Gold Cup, split qualifying was used. Daryn Pittman set fast time in the opening group, while Rico Abreu set fast time in group two. Abreu's lap of 11.652 was the overall quick time for the night.

Schatz Picks Up World of Outlaws Craftsman® Sprint Car Series Season Win 21 during a Non-Stop Affair at Willamette Speedway
LEBANON, Ore. - Sept. 7, 2016 - After taking the lead early on, Fargo, North Dakota's Donny Schatz proceeded to dominate the final half of the feature on Wednesday night at Willamette Speedway to score his World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series leading 21st victory of the season.
With the win Schatz has now captured five of the seven World of Outlaws events held since the Knoxville Nationals aboard his Tony Stewart Racing/ Bad Boy Off Road No. 15 machine. The triumph came during a non-stop 30-lap affair that was completed in just over seven minutes.
"What a great job by this whole Tony Stewart Racing team once again so I can't say enough about them," Schatz commented. "I felt like I wasted a little time in traffic early, but then started getting through it really well. I know that if you stumble at any moment the guys we race with are so good that they will pounce on you. It's always special to come back to Oregon also, since I won my first World of Outlaws race in this state back in 1998. It was definitely a demanding track, and going 30-laps non-stop is never easy to do. I know that I can definitely use a drink about right now."
Schatz started on the outside of the front row, but lost the early lead at the waving of the green flag to pole sitter Brad Sweet. The Grass Valley, California driver rolled the bottom side, while Schatz utilized the high-line to sweep around for the lead on lap four. Once entering traffic Sweet stayed close and made a bid for the lead on lap 11. Schatz was able to hang on though and stretched his lead from there on out, leading much of the time by a full straightaway.
The battle for second turned out to be an entertaining one between Sweet and Bixby, Oklahoma's Shane Stewart in traffic.
Stewart sliced his way past Sweet at the halfway point of the 30-lap contest, only to have him return the favor for the spot four-laps later. The duo continued to race closely together while battling through the slower cars, until Stewart took back the runner up position that he would never relinquish on lap 22. The second place result was a great rebound for Stewart and his Larson Marks Racing team after tough luck has plagued them in recent weeks.
"We had a really good car in the feature and this is a great finish for our whole team," Stewart said. "We've been real good lately, but have fought through a lot of bad luck, so hopefully this will get the monkey off our backs. We've worked really hard to gain speed over the course of the season and I think we have done that, so I definitely want to thank all my guys for their support. I wish I would have moved up a little quicker, but hats off to Donny [Schatz] and his guys because they are always tough. Hopefully we can carry this momentum into Chico this weekend."
Sweet's bid at a clean sweep for the night came up just short, with him crossing the stripe in third at the helm of the Kasey Kahne Racing No. 49 mount. He began the evening by setting a new Willamette Speedway track record in qualifying, before winning his heat race and the dash. It marked Sweet's second straight podium finish in World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series competition.
"We would have liked to win the feature tonight, but that's racing," Sweet commented following the race. "It was a lot of fun battling with Shane [Stewart] through lapped traffic. We just needed to be a little bit better on the top, but I can't complain about a podium finish. We had really fast car all night long, so I want to thank my whole team for giving me great stuff again. I look forward to heading back home to California this weekend for the Gold Cup in Chico. That's one event I definitely want to get under my belt so we'll give it our best shot."
Owasso, Oklahoma's Daryn Pittman gave second & third a strong run in traffic, before settling for a fourth place finish at the checkered. The former Outlaw champ looked solid in the feature aboard the Kasey Kahne Racing No. 9 Sprinter. After winning the last two events Watertown, Connecticut's David Gravel brought home a fifth place finish on Wednesday behind the wheel of the CJB Motorsports No. 5.
The remainder of the top-10 was completed by Bartlett, Tennessee's Jason Sides; Eunice, Louisiana's Jason Johnson; Fresno, California's Dominic Scelzi; Brownsburg, Indiana's Joey Saldana and Hanover, Pennsylvania's Logan Schuchart.
As noted, Sweet captured the dash and the opening heat race, while Daryn Pittman claimed the other heat race held. Paul McMahan won the night's 10-lap qualifying race. Sweet's new Willamette Speedway track record of 11.513 to open the night was also his series-leading 12th fast time of the season.
The World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series will now head south to California for the 63rd annual Gold Cup Race of Champions at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico this Friday & Saturday September 9 & 10. Get more info on the prestigious event.

BECHTELSVILLE, PA September 4, 2016 . . . Craig VonDohren, Jeff Strunk, Meme DeSantis, Duane Howard and Billy Pauch Sr. have all won the Freedom 76 Modified Classic multiple times and it is quite possible that all of them will be competing for another opportunity to collect the $25,000 first place money when the Granddaddy of area big dollar Modified events is presented.
It all happens this Saturday, September 10 at Grandview Speedway when many of the top names in dirt track Modified stock car racing are expected to battle for a starting spot in the 76-lap race and then the win.
Veteran racer Ray Swinehart, a winner in 2005, will be looking to win the event for the second time as he leads a wide array of racing talent searching to take the win in the prestigious event.
Garden State racing talents Ryan Godown, Mark Pishock and Billy Pauch Jr. top a list of visitors that are expected.
Billy Pauch Sr. leads all the winners with six victories while VonDohren and Strunk have five wins. VonDohren won his first Freedom 76 in 1985.
Racing will get the green flag at 7 p.m. with a number of qualifying events, consolation races, Schaeffer Motorsports Minuteman 20, $1,000 to win Cash Dash leading up to the 76-lapper.
Advance ticket holders will be admitted at 3 p.m. with the ticket windows open at 3:30 p.m. Adult tickets are priced at $40 while youngsters 6 through 11 pay $10. Kids under 6 are admitted FREE.

On Friday night (September 9) the popular TSRS 305 Sprints will be in action along with the Sportsman stock cars. The Sprints, led by champion Mike Haggenbottom, will top their part of the show with a 25 lap feature while the Sportsman racers will run in a 38 lap main event. In addition the Modifieds taking part in the Saturday racing action will able to practice during the Friday night show.
Adult admission is priced at $12 while young people, 6 through 11, are admitted for $5. Kids under 6 are admitted Free. This is no rain date for the Friday show.
The next scheduled event at Grandview Speedway is Sunday, September 25th with Enduro racing and Blast from the Past Vintage racers in action. It all gets underway at noon. Adult admission is $10.

ATTICA, Ohio (September 3, 2016) - After nearly giving it all away, spinning in front of the entire feature field after leading the first eight circuits at Attica Raceway Park, Wooster, Ohio’s Sheldon Haudenschild would recover; rigorously working back to the top spot around a pair of Ohio veterans, ultimately scoring the 40-lap, Inaugural Dirt Classic Ohio victory worth $10,000. The win was Haudenschild’s seventh of the 2016 season with the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions, tying for the series lead with defending Arctic Cat All Star champion Dale Blaney.
2016 Attica Raceway Park track champion Byron Reed finished second during the Dirt Classic Ohio main event, followed by Blaney, Pennsylvania invader Brent Marks, and Craig Mintz.
“The big thing was keeping myself in the race during the first half,” Haudenschild explained. “After that spin, I just needed to regroup, keep my tires from spinning, and really focus on hitting my marks. I’m just really proud of my guys and what they do for this race team. We work as hard as we can to win races. That is what keeps us on the road. We had a blast tonight. Hopefully we can move to Wayne County tomorrow and create a similar outcome.”
Originally scheduled to start on the outside of row two, Sheldon Haudenschild was moved to the outside pole position, the result of a false start by Bryon Reed during the initial green flag. The pilot of the Southern Pacific Farms/Finzer Farms/Haudenschild Racing/No. 93 jumped to the early advantage using the top line of the speedway, leading lap one over Dale Blaney and Tim Shaffer.
For the first eight circuits, Haudenschild seemed invincible; leaning against Attica’s curb at the top of the speedway, now maintaining an advantage over Dale Blaney and Byron Reed, who snuck by Shaffer with just three laps in the books. On his way to completing lap nine, disaster nearly struck Sheldon Haudenschild; spinning in front of the field while attempting to negotiate traffic. Luckily for Haudenschild, he was able to maintain control of the car while staying in the throttle, eventually completing a 360-degree spin to keep his spot in the running order without bringing out a caution. Dale Blaney would inherit the top spot, followed by Byron Reed and now Haudenschild.
Despite the near-total loss, Haudenschild quickly worked his way back up the running order, driving back by Dale Blaney on the low side during a battle in traffic with 15 laps in the books to take over the runner-up position. After working beyond Blaney, Haudenschild set his focus back on the point position, returning his momentum to the very topside of the speedway. By lap 20, Haudenschild raced to the back bumper of Byron Reed, eventually driving by the eight-time Attica Raceway Park track champion with a textbook slide job between turns three and four. At that point, the race was Haudenschild’s to lose; opening to a near-straightaway advantage even during traffic. The second generation racer went on to score his 13th career Arctic Cat All Star victory
“I just pinned the throttle and kept it running!” Sheldon Haudenschild said regarding his spin while leading. “I knew at this track, even if you spin and keep your momentum, you have a good shot to recover and still get it done. The track was just awesome, ya know. Hats off to the track prep team. Everything this car makes goes right back into the crew and car. We need to win races like this to keep us going.”
Byron Reed raced inside the top-five during the entire 40-lap main event, leading seven laps before finishing second to Haudenschild at the final checkers.
“With the track having a curb, we knew going in that Sheldon (Haudenschild) was going to be good,” Byron Reed explained. “He’s really good on a racetrack like this. At least we were able to beat Blaney.”
Dale Blaney’s third place finish was just enough to put the “Low Rider” back on top in the current Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions title chase. The Hartford, Ohio, native now holds a mere six point advantage in the championship chase over Chad Kemenah entering round two of Labor Day weekend on Sunday evening.
Labor Day weekend will continue for the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions on Sunday evening, September 4, at the Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, Ohio. The Pete Jacobs Memorial, honoring the late Wayne County Speedway founder and promoter who passed away in 1970, will award a $10,000 top prize on Sunday night at “Orrville’s Historic Oval,” the second of two, $10,000 top prizes for the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions during the holiday weekend. The September 4 program will be the fourth and final Wayne County Speedway appearance for the Arctic Cat All Stars in 2016.
Wayne County Speedway will open Pete Jacobs Memorial pit gates at 3:00 pm on Sunday afternoon, September 4. A mandatory drivers meeting will be conducted at 5:30 pm, followed by hot laps at 6:10. BOUC CAPTURES HIS SECOND 358 MODIFIED FEATURE WIN OF THE YEAR WHILE GODOWN TAKES THE CHAMPIONSHIP AT NEW EGYPT SPEEDWAY
New Egypt, NJ (September 4, 2016) – On First Responders Night presented by Flemington Car and Truck Country at New Egypt Speedway, Danny Bouc captured the 358 Modified feature with Ryan Godown taking the 2016 championship. Bob Lineman, Jr. took top honors in the Sportsman feature. The TSRS Sprint Car main event was won by Mark Bitner.
After the original start of the 30-lap 358 Modified feature was called off due to a tangle involving Lou Cicconi and Bryan Kuhl, Tad Cox blasted to the front of the pack with DJ Ruppert, Danny Bouc and Dominick Buffalino in pursuit. On the third circuit, Bouc motored past Ruppert to gain the runner-up position. With six laps completed, Cox was beginning to distance himself from the pack with Bouc, Buffalino, Billy Pauch, Sr. and Ruppert next in line. By the tenth tour, Bouc was starting to cut into Cox’s advantage. As the race reached the halfway point, Bouc was on Cox’s bumper and applying pressure for the lead. On lap sixteen, Bouc scooted by Cox for the lead with Buffalino, Pauch, Sr. and Billy Pauch, Jr. in tow. On the next tour, the younger Pauch worked his way past his father to take over fourth place. Back at the front, Cox and Buffalino were edging closer to Bouc. With ten laps to go, Bouc was still in command with Buffalino slipping by Cox for second place. Cox fell back two more spots as Pauch, Jr. moved into third on the twenty-second circuit and Pauch, Sr. advanced into fourth on the following lap. As Bouc was trying to get a little breathing room, Buffalino was feeling the heat from Pauch, Jr. in the battle for second place. On the twenty-fourth revolution, Ryan Godown, who had started the race in nineteenth place, was continuing his drive to the top five as he drove past Ruppert to gain sixth place. With only five laps remaining, Pauch, Jr. blasted by Buffalino to take possession of second place. Just after losing the runner-up spot, the third place running Buffalino spun in turn four to bring out the second and final yellow flag of the contest. On the single file restart, Bouc held off Pauch, Jr to remain on top with Godown, who had inherited fifth during the caution period, working his way by Cox for fourth place. Bouc paced the field over the remaining laps to take his second checkered flag of the year. Pauch, Jr. claimed the runner up position with the elder Pauch completing the contest in third. By finishing in fourth place, Godown was able to capture his fourth New Egypt Speedway championship by one point over Pauch, Jr. Cox’s strong run resulted in a fifth place finish. Tad Cox and Dominick Buffalino won the 358 Modified qualifying races.
For the second time in 2016, Bob Lineman, Jr. visited victory lane after he won the 20-lap Sportsman feature. Dakota Kessler led the opening circuit before Marty Resnick passed him for the lead. On the ninth circuit, JT Trstensky assumed the top running position. With five laps remaining, Lineman, Jr. bolted by Trstensky for the lead and controlled the contest for the rest of the distance. Twelfth place starting Art Liedl finished in second place. Trstensky, Resnick and Bill Liedtka completed the top five finishers. The Sportsman heat race winners were Bob Lineman, Jr. and Derek Krum.
Mark Bitner led from start to finish to capture the checkered flag in the 20-lap main event for the TSRS Sprint Car feature. The victory was Bitner’s third TSRS win at New Egypt Speedway in 2016. The runner-up spot was taken by Joe Lord. Mike Haggenbottom was third. Fourth went to Chris Allen, Jr. with ninth place starting Tim Tanner finishing in fifth. Ryan Stillwaggon and Mike Haggenbottom were victorious in the TSRS Sprint Car qualifying events.
On Saturday, September 10, Championship Night takes place at New Egypt Speedway with titles on the line for the Burlington County Overhead Door NEWS Sprints, Sportsman, Crate Modifieds & Street Stocks. In addition, the Vintage Stock Cars will compete in an exhibition event. The pit gates unlock at 3:00 p.m. with grandstand turnstiles opening at 4:00 p.m. Hot laps will start at 5:00 p.m. and action gets underway at 6:00 p.m. Admission to the grandstand is $20 for adults, $18 for seniors 65 and older, $10 for teens 12-15, $10 for military personal and their spouses with ID, and no charge for children 11 and under. Pit admission is $30 with a New Egypt Speedway license and $40 with no license.
