Canada's Robbie Price Wins His First Career Jim Raper Memorial Dirt Cup!

Bryan Hulbert - ALGER, Wash. (June 22, 2019) Three leaders, six lead changes, and then a list of firsts for Robbie Price in the 48th annual Jim Raper Memorial Dirt Cup presented by the Skagit Casino Resort as the driver of the Millstone Heating and Sheetmetal No. 21p landed his first $15,000 Dirt Cup paycheck and his first Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network victory.
Becoming the first Canadian born driver to top the Skagit Speedway crown jewel, Robbie is also the youngest driver at 21-years old to win the Jim Raper Memorial Dirt Cup.

"It's always good to come home, and it gives me some peace of mind. I like it a lot, and I'll be honest, we've sucked a lot this year so to come out here and win, it's such a great feeling and a great accomplishment. I'm just excited," said a nearly breathless Robbie Price, who is the 147th different winner in Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour competition.

Taking the green from the fourth spot, Price chased Jason Solwold for third as Blake Hahn took off with the top spot after an opening lap drag race with Matt Covington. Leaders into traffic on Lap 7, the top two runners closed to a nose to tail battle with both struggling to clear the back-markers. Trying to swing low on a slower car on Lap 13, Hahn made contact and spun. Never coming to a stop, and inadvertent caution was thrown to bring the field single file with Hahn in lining up in fifth.

Handing the lead to Matt Covington, the A-Rock Material No. 95 pulled away in clean air with Robbie Price under fire from Jason Solwold as the pair went slide for slide over the next few laps. Keeping pace at the line over the No. 18, Price began running down Covington who had started to work back into slower traffic. Taking advantage of slower cars, Price took a shot at the lead with Covington answering the challenge. Back and forth through traffic, Covington and Price used the slower cars as picks as Jason Solwold closed with Blake Hahn and Colton Heath in tow.

With the top five nearly under a blanket, Robbie Price took over the top spot on Lap 22. Stalked by Covington, the No. 95 reclaimed the lead on Lap 27, but Covington's night would fall 10 laps shy of the $15,000 payday as the engine expired on Lap 30.

Putting the lead back in the hands of Robbie Price, the No, 21p took the green with a lapped car between himself and Jason Solwold. Held up by the slower machine, Solwold and Hahn battled for second before the caution flew on Lap 33 for Justyn Cox who spun to a stop in the second turn.

Clearing the No. 18 for second on Lap 35, Hahn trailed by nearly two seconds as the leaders ran all out in clean air. Closing every lap on Price, the leaders hit traffic as the white flag waved with Hahn pulling to the back bumper of Robbie into the third turn. Trying to mount the run off the final turn, Robbie Price would not be denied as he bested Hahn by 0.364 seconds.

Fighting from seventh, 2018 Dirt Cup winner, Seth Bergman ran to third in the closing laps with Jason Solwold settling for fourth. Picking up eight spots for the night's Hard Charger, Australia's Scott Bogucki completed the top five in the same car that he went upside down in the night before. Sam Hafertepe, Jr. fought to sixth with Colton Heath in seventh. Travis Jacobson picked up six spots to finish eighth with John Carney II ending his first Dirt Cup in ninth. Devon Borden completed the top ten.

A total of 51 drivers checked in for the 2019 Jim Raper Memorial Dirt Cup. B-Features were topped by Greg Hamilton and Justin Sanders. No Provisionals were allowed.

The next event for the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network is the Fred Brownfield Classic at Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma, Wash. on Friday, June 28 and Saturday, June 29. Tickets on sale at www.graysharborraceway.com.

THUNDER ON THE HILL RACING SERIES

NAPA AUTO PARTS PRESENTS. . . . . .

ALAN KRIMES, THE RAHMER BROTHERS, LUCAS WOLFE & T.J. STUTTS EYE THE $10,000 PRIZE AT THUNDER ON THE HILL TUESDAY NIGHT, JULY 2 AT GRANDVIEW

BECHTELSVILLE, PA JUNE 23, 2019 . . . . . . . . . . . There is a big prize on the line Tuesday night, July 2 at the Grandview Speedway when the Pennsylvania 410 Sprint Car Speed Week Series invades “the hill”. It’s all part of the 30th Anniversary season for the NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series and $10,000 will go to the winner of the 35 lap 410 sprint car feature event. Making this event even bigger, the 358 NASCAR Modifieds will be on the program with $3,000 going to the winner of the 30 lap modified feature. In the 2018 running of this event, NASCAR star Kyle Larson won the sprint feature as Jeff Strunk won the modified feature after starting last in the field of twenty-four cars.

The 410 sprints always attract the cream of the crop. Alan Krimes will be in the field looking for his first Thunder victory. A few years back, Krimes was in the perfect spot to score the win but a flat tire denied him of a visit to victory lane. Lucas Wolfe is an early entry as well. Wolfe was the 2007 Thunder on the Hill Champion but has not won a Thunder on the Hill feature as yet. Lucas wants to change that Tuesday night, July 2. The Rahmer Brothers, Freddie and Brandon are pre-entered and ready for Grandview. Their father Fred is a nine time Thunder on the Hill feature winner, Freddie won the All Star event in 2017 and Brandon hopes to add his name to the Thunder on the Hill winners list.

And along came T.J. Stutts. A few years back, Stutts set fast for the night and was a contender for the win when mechanical problems sidelined him from action. Stutts knows the fast way around Grandview and is always considered a contender to collect the $10,000 pay day.

The NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series will also showcase the 358 NASCAR Modifieds on Tuesday night, July 2. Ryan Watt was the winner of the last two Modified Thunder events and he’ll be looking for three in a row. Craig VonDohren, Duane Howard, Jeff Strunk and Ryan Godown are expected to chase the $3,000 to win 30 lap modified feature.

On Tuesday night, July 2 gates will open at 5 PM with warm-ups at 6:45 PM. The 410 sprint cars will open the show with time trials followed by the 358 modified and 410 sprint qualifying. This will all lead up to the $10,000 to win 35 lap Speed Week Sprint car feature event and the 30 lap Modified feature.

Advance tickets may be ordered for the Tuesday, July 2 PA 410 Sprint Speed Week Series and 358 NASCAR Modifies by calling 443 513 4456. Please speak slowly and clearly when leaving a message and be sure to provide your name and number of tickets you will need. Tickets may be paid for and picked up at the WILL CALL Window on race night, Tuesday, July 2 after 3:30 PM. Advance ticket holders may entitle you to enter the grandstands at 4:30. Adult admission tickets are $30, children 6 to 11 $10 and children five and under will be admitted for free. General admission tickets will go on sale at 5 PM at the Grandview Speedway

The NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series will also showcase the 358 NASCAR Modifieds on Tuesday night, July 2. Ryan Watt was the winner of the last two Modified Thunder events and he’ll be looking for three in a row. Craig VonDohren, Duane Howard, Jeff Strunk and Ryan Godown are expected to chase the $3,000 payoff to win the30 lap modified feature.

The Pennsylvania 410 Sprint Speed Week Series will offer nine nights of racing and a point fund in excess of $16,000 if all nine races are completed. The Champion will earn $5,000 and sixth in points will earn $600. In addition, the next four highest in points outside of the top ten will each earn $250 if they make every show.

Aaron Reutzel beats Shaffer and Abreu for Ohio Sprint Speedweek victory at Wayne County Speedway

ORRVILLE, Ohio (June 19, 2019) - With Mother Nature throwing a curveball in All Star plans to visit Chillicothe’s Atomic Speedway on Wednesday evening, the Series made an early morning venue swap and switched their focus to Wayne County Speedway in Orrville.

The Cometic Gasket Ohio Sprint Speedweek presented by Indy Metal Finishing destination change proved to be all the better for Clute, Texas’ Aaron Reutzel, ultimately ending his evening at ‘Orrville’s Historic Oval’ $5,000 richer, as well as officially back on top of the Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 driver championship standings.

Reutzel, the defending All Star champion in addition to being the current Series point leader, led all 30 circuits at Wayne County Speedway on Wednesday evening, forced to outduel the ‘Steel City Outlaw’ Tim Shaffer and St. Helena, California’s Rico Abreu in the process. Joining Kyle Larson and Dale Blaney, Reutzel now owns one Speedweek victory in 2019, adding to his overall All Star wins list that now includes 12 total, three of which occurring in 2019.

“We were fortunate enough to pull the front row for the dash and get a starting spot up front. Capitalizing on a solid pill draw is important, but the guys gave me a great car, as well,” Aaron Reutzel said in Wayne County Speedway victory lane, driver of the Baughman-Reutzel Motorsports/Folkens Brothers Trucking/Fischer Body Shop/Hollywood Coating and Blasting/No. 87 sprint car. “Grant, Jim-Bob, Cheeseburger; these guys worked hard all night and gave me a great race car. It was a total team effort.”

Although forced to withstand three cautions during the first seven circuits, one of which a red flag incident just after the initial start, Reutzel remained the class of the field, keeping Tim Shaffer and Rico Abreu in his rearview mirror during the first ten laps. Strong in clean air, it was not until when slower traffic entered the picture for the first time that Shaffer and Abreu were able to chop away at Reutzel’s advantage.

By lap 13, Shaffer was hot on Reutzel’s heels, knocking down the leader’s advantage to a mere-car length. Despite Reutzel’s ability to navigate slower traffic, Shaffer kept the Baughman-Reutzel Motorsports entry in check, pressuring the familiar No. 87 for the lead on multiple occasions between laps 15 and 18 while nearly driving under Reutzel at the exit of turn four on lap 17.

Feeling the pressure from Shaffer, Reutzel immediately increased his pace, picking off slower cars one by one while simultaneously growing his command over Shaffer and Abreu.

By the time Reutzel received the five-to-go signal from the flagstand, the race was already over, eventually crossing under the final checkers with a near-straightaway advantage.

“Getting the jump was really important. The last thing I wanted to do was have to drive really hard and have to catch Tim [Shaffer],” Aaron Reutzel continued. “I was able to set my own pace. I did make a mistake here and there which allowed Shaffer to sneak under me, but I was able to get my pace back up again. I don’t think he was as good as I was through traffic."

Brock Zearfoss finished fourth at Wayne County Speedway, followed by Ohio veteran, Dean Jacobs.

Dale Blaney holds off Scelzi and Larson for Cometic Gasket Ohio Sprint Speedweek presented by Indy Metal Finishing victory at Muskingum County Speedway

DRESDEN, Ohio (June 16, 2019) - Although it took nearly three years for Hartford, Ohio’s Dale Blaney to find Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 victory lane before his triumph at Stateline Speedway on June 8, it took only eight days to do it again, this time earning night three of Cometic Gasket Ohio Sprint Speedweek presented by Indy Metal Finishing at Muskingum County Speedway in Dresden, Ohio.

Forced to withstand heavy offense from a pair of California hotshots, Gio Scelzi and Kyle Larson, Blaney’s Speedweek triumph ultimately bumped his career win total to 136 with Tony Stewart’s All Star Circuit of Champions, now with two victories in 2019. Impressive enough, Blaney nearly swept the Speedweek program at Muskingum County, winning his respective heat race and dash before leading all 30 circuits of main event competition.

“We just needed to get racing a little bit. We changed some stuff around on the car last week and it made it better, then we changed some more stuff around on the car after the dash [at Attica Raceway Park] and that it better, as well,” Dale Blaney said, driver of the Sam McGhee Motorsports/Mike McGhee & Associates/No. 11 sprint car. “I’m starting to feel like my old self again and the car is making me feel like my old self. We’ll head to the next round and try and do this again.”

Although a clean first half for Blaney, getting the opportunity to avoid traffic as a trio of cautions paved the way for clean air on lap two, eight and 11, it was the second 15 laps of the 30-lap program that brought people to their feet.

Traffic, appearing for the first time, officially, on lap 17, eventually slowed Blaney’s pace, and although the National Sprint Car Hall of Famer worked hard to maintain his distance over second place with one or two lap cars separating the two, the gap between the frontrunners eventually tightened. By lap 19, the top five were nearly nose to tail with Blaney still setting the pace, followed closely by Gio Scelzi, Brock Zearfoss, Kyle Larson and Aaron Reutzel. Despite heavy pressure beginning to build, a caution on lap 25 gave Blaney a breather, once again eradicating slower traffic and giving the six-time All Star champion clean air to utilize.

Seemingly in control the final six circuits, it was the final two laps that created a scare for Blaney as Scelzi closed the lead margin in a hurry, nearly capitalizing on a slip by the race leader. Despite the issue, Blaney held on, chased to the final checkers by Scelzi, Kyle Larson, Brock Zearfoss and Cap Henry.

“I’m not sure what happened there at the end. I thought maybe I had a right-rear tire going low,” Dale Blaney said about the last two laps. “I was really glad I saw the white flag because I thought we were in some serious trouble. I knew the guys behind me were close. They are young, hungry kids who want to win races. I was running as hard as I could without killing my stuff.”

Fans will have the opportunity to relive Dale Blaney’s Muskingum County Speedway/Ohio Sprint Speedweek victory this fall on network television, as MAVTV Motorsports Network cameras were on hand Sunday evening to capture all of the action.

The 37th edition of Cometic Gasket Ohio Sprint Speedweek presented by Indy Metal Finishing will continue Monday evening, June 17, at Wayne County Speedway in Orrville; the first of two Speedweek programs at ‘Orrville’s Historic Oval.’ Tony Stewart’s All Stars will return to Wayne County Speedway on Saturday, June 22, for the $10,000-to-win Speedweek finale.

Speed Shift TV, the official online broadcast partner of the All Star Circuit of Champions in 2019, will be conducting live video broadcasts during the next six Ohio Sprint Speedweek programs: Wayne County Speedway - 6/17, Sharon Speedway - 6/18, Atomic Speedway - 6/19, Mansfield Motor Speedway - 6/20, Limaland Motorsports Park - 6/21, Wayne County Speedway - 6/22.
