Logan Schuchart Redeems Himself and Wins Friday Thriller to Lock-In to Knoxville Nationals
KNOXVILLE, IA – August 10, 2018 – Logan Schuchart hasn’t slept well the past 48 hours since his colossal mistake of missing the scales on his Qualifying Night. The driver of the Shark Racing No.1S battled Knoxville kingpin Brian Brown throughout the 25 laps to win Night Three of the 5-Hour ENERGY Knoxville Nationals and lock-in to Saturday’s Feature. Brown finished second to also lock-in. Veteran Paul McMahan and Knoxville regular Matt Juhl finished in third and fourth to transfer as well.
Logan Schuchart set fast time in Group A Qualifying and transferred through his Heat Race to earn the pole. Brian Brown did the same in Group B to start on the outside of the front row.
The duo quickly pulled away from the field and established themselves as the class of the field. Schuchart was glued to the bottom with Brown banging down the cushion and the pair went side-by-side for the better part of the first five laps. Schuchart had the advantage on the first four laps but Brown edged in front on the fifth circuit.
While Brown and Schuchart extended their lead, a torrid battle for the third and fourth positions between Paul McMahan, Sheldon Haudenschild and Matt Juhl took place. The trio battled fiercely for those coveted remaining two spots, forcing fans to choose which remarkable battle to watch.
Up front, Schuchart remained committed to the bottom with Brown up top, Schuchart edged back in front of Brown on Lap 10 as the duo raced through heavy traffic on the incredible racing surface Knoxville Raceway provided.
The only caution of the Feature flew after Spencer Bayston slowed with a flat tire with 10 laps complete, after Schuchart had taken the lead.
The ensuing restart saw Sheldon and Juhl get crossed up, allowing McMahan, who had faded to fifth, to surge back to third. McMahan distanced himself a little bit in third while Haudenschild and Juhl waged war for the final transfer spot.
Back up front, Schuchart and Brown continued to go wheel-to-wheel for the lead, Brown edged back to the lead on Lap 14 and led for two laps before Schuchart re-took the lead on Lap 16.
Haudenschild occupied that coveted fourth spot with five to go, but slipped up in turn three and four with five to go allowing Matt Juhl to get back by for the final spot. Sheldon did everything he could to close back in on Juhl to grab that spot back, but came up short and finished fifth.
Schuchart went on to win his first career Knoxville Raceway Feature by 2.482 seconds. Schuchart was relieved to have the opportunity to redeem himself from Friday’s mistake, “It was definitely a tough day, our team gave us another shot off my mistake. The car has been great all week, I just have to do my job and hopefully we’ll come forward.”
Brian Brown finished second and for the first time in his career said he was content finishing second, “I think I was as good as Logan in the middle portion of the race, but he was better at the end. I’ve never been content running second at Knoxville, but tonight I was, it gives us another chance tomorrow.”
Veteran Paul McMahan finished in third, locking in to yet another Knoxville Nationals. “I’m definitely stoked, the last few years people wrote me off. I’ve always believed in myself and I have had more fun this year than I have in the past five and it’s showing on the track.”
South Dakota’s Matt Juhl locked-in to his first career Knoxville Nationals. “We drive here 5 hours [1 way] to run weekly and we’ve been getting faster every week. To make the A-Main at the Knoxville Nationals means the world. It’s a dream come true,” Juhl, who sits fifth in the track point standings, said after the race.
The SPEED Sport World Challenge went to Dominic Scelzi, who earned a $10,000 payday, but more importantly locked-in to his first career Knoxville Nationals. “I have been dreaming of starting in the Knoxville Nationals since I was a little kind,” a jubilated Scelzi said.
The biggest Sprint Car race in the world crowns a champion tomorrow with a 50-Lap, $150,000 to win Feature.

Brad Sweet Dominates Night Two of Nationals to Earn Pole for Saturday’s Finale
KNOXVILLE, IA – August 9, 2018 – Brad Sweet made an exclamation point to the Sprint Car world on the second night of the 5-Hour ENERGY Knoxville Nationals, storming from sixth to the lead on the opening lap. Sweet never looked back and cruised to the Feature win and accumulated enough points to start on the pole for Saturday’s $150,000 to win Knoxville Nationals Finale. Rico Abreu finished second with David Gravel coming from 11th to third to complete the podium.
The front row for the 25-lap Feature was North Dakota’s Mark Dobmeier and California’s Rico Abreu, but it was the current runner-up in the World of Outlaws Points Standings Brad Sweet blasting from his sixth starting position to lead the opening lap.
“Rob Cappetta has really found something in these engines, we’re not blowing people away in time trials by two-tenths or anything, but it runs excellent for the first lap. I think that’s what people saw on Sunday [in the Pole Shuffle at the Capitani Classic] as well, combine that with a car that handles great and we’ve been pretty good," Sweet said in his post-race press conference. Sweet was dominant in his Heat Race opening lap as well, fueling his charge from eighth to second in that event.
A pair of cautions during the opening two laps kept the field close to Sweet, but that was as close as the competition would get to the driver known as ‘The Big Cat’.
“I’ve never had this much confidence heading into Nationals, but I know the job is far from done,” Sweet said about earning the pole for the biggest Sprint Car race in the world. “Donny [Schatz] and Kyle [Larson] and a whole bunch of others are going to be right there, but we’re certainly going to give it our best shot,” Sweet said about his NAPA Racing No.49 team on Saturday.
Rico Abreu quickly moved into second and never relinquished that position, despite heavy pressure from 11th-starting David Gravel.
“We just keep getting our car better and better this year. I’m really proud of my young team, we’ve battled a lot of issues this year, but we’ve become a good unit because of it. Three years in a row to be locked into the A Main at the Knoxville Nationals shows how good this team is,” an enthusiastic Abreu said after being interviewed post-race.
Gravel muscled his way forward through the field quickly from his 11th-starting position, obtaining seventh by Lap 2 and getting to third by Lap 8. Despite finishing third, because of a poor Qualifying time and 4th-place run in his Heat, Gravel will start seventh in the B-Main/Last Chance Showdown on Saturday.
“We know we have the car speed at the end of the night and tonight showed that, but we were pretty disappointed with our Qualifying run. We really needed to win our Heat to help our points,” Gravel said in the post-race press conference. “We know at the end of the night, we have a very good car and there’s a lot of good cars up front in the B, but we have a lot of confidence that we can pass some cars,” Gravel said in confidence about his CJB Motorsports No.5 team.
Tim Kaeding was strong all night in a second Jason Sides Motorsports entry and finished fourth to lock-in to Saturday’s finale. Terry McCarl finished fifth in the Feature and accumulated just enough points to lock-in to Saturday’s Feature as well.
KSE Hard Charger Honors went to Shane Stewart who surged from 23rd to eighth and locked in to Saturday’s Feature with the 15th highest point total. Carson Macedo aboard the Jason Johnson Racing No.41 set Quick Time and came from 21st to ninth and locked the JJR No.41 into the Saturday Feature with the eighth highest point total.

Greg Hodnett Leads All 25 Laps to Score Night One of Knoxville Nationals
KNOXVILLE, IA – August 8, 2018 – Greg Hodnett got the early jump and never looked back to score Night One of the 5-Hour ENERGY Knoxville Nationals for the Pennsylvania Posse. Tim Shaffer threw everything he had for the lead, but settled for second with Kyle Larson, who ended the night as the high point guy, settling for third.
Brock Zearfoss hit the 8-car invert for the Feature perfectly, earning the pole for the 25-Lap Feature in his first Knoxville Nationals appearance, which set up an all Pennsylvania front row.
Hodnett drag-raced with Zearfoss down the long Knoxville Raceway front stretch to lead into turn one and subsequently the opening circuit. Hodnett and Zearfoss paced the field but as the duo began to approach heavy lapped traffic, the Red Flag flew for Clyde Knipp and Jamie Ball, who got upside down in turn three with 8 laps complete.
Both drivers walked away from the accident unscathed. When action resumed, Tim Shaffer pounced and got by Zearfoss for second and began chasing down Hodnett for the lead.
Austin McCarl brought out the caution with 11 laps remaining. Hodnett powered away on the restart, as Shaffer, Kyle Larson and 16-year-old Giovanni Scelzi went three-wide down the backstretch for second, inciting a roar from the Knoxville Raceway crowd.
Shaffer muscled his way into turn three to maintain the runner-up position and once again set his sights on Hodnett, who was establishing a strong pace.
Shaffer closed in on Hodnett and was poised to make a move before the final caution of the night flew for Dominic Scelzi with six laps remaining. Hodnett went to the cushion in turn one as Shaffer tried to stick his Demyan-Rudzik Racing No.49X to the bottom.
The duo switched lines on the other side of the Knoxville Raceway as Hodnett was glued to the bottom. Shaffer threw everything he had at Hodnett one last time in turn one, but couldn’t complete the pass for the lead as Hodnett went on to win his second career 410 Sprint Car Feature at Knoxville Raceway by less than a half of a second.
Hodnett described the last few laps as just hanging on, “I had no clue where anyone else was running, I was just trying to drive it hard. Seeing guys like Shaffer and Larson climb up the board is pretty tough, because you don’t know where, while you are running out front,” Hodnett said in the post-race interview.
“I really do like Knoxville, it tends to make you drive pretty straight and hard, which is what I like to do. I’ve always felt comfortable here and I really enjoy the atmosphere,” the pilot of the Heffner Racing No.27 added.
Tim Shaffer, the 2010 Knoxville Nationals Champion, settled for second and was in good spirits. “Greg was rolling pretty good, I had to run the car a little harder to try and close in, but Greg wasn’t making any mistakes. We had speed early this year but haven’t had as much lately. My guys have been working hard and trying to find speed at the same and we did that tonight,” Shaffer said.
Kyle Larson ended his night on the podium, but more importantly as the high point man for the night with 475 markers. “It’s cool to be the high point man after your Qualifying night, I doubt it will stand after tomorrow, but hopefully I’ll be in the second row,” Larson said.
“Prelim nights are obviously so important for everyone, but it’s essential for me to lock-in. With my NASCAR schedule, I can’t come back Friday, so I knew that I needed to lock-in for Saturday’s Feature or I would be watching. And I don’t want to watch on Saturday,” Larson added with a smile.
Giovanni Scelzi continues to impress the Sprint Car world and came home fourth in his first Knoxville Nationals appearance aboard the Indy Race Parts No.71. Donny Schatz picked up the KSE Hard Charger on the evening, blasting from 21st to complete the top five and secure himself 474 points, good enough for second on the night. Ian Madsen charged from 22nd to sixth with Lucas Wolfe hanging on for seventh after his top wing panel collapsed late in the race.
Aaron Reutzel, Kerry Madsen and Brock Zearfoss completed the top ten. Logan Schuchart set fast time over the field but after winning the Last Chance Showdown failed to go to the scales, thus disqualifying him from the event and burying him in the point standings. Schuchart owned up the mistake and hopes to prove himself Friday.

Carson Macedo Sails To Sage Fruit Ultimate Challenge Victory With Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series
Bryan Hulbert - OSKALOOSA, Iowa (August 7, 2018) Carson Macedo is having a dream week in Iowa.
Just off his first career victory with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by Sawblade.com in prelim action at the Knoxville 360 Nationals for Jason Johnson Racing, the California shoe strapped into the Tony Stewart Racing No. 14 on Tuesday night and won the Sage Fruit Ultimate Challenge presented by Searsboro Telephone Co.
Wheeling the Textron Off-Road/Sage Fruit entry from outside of the second row, Macedo was quick to find the front of the field, with a pass on fellow California driver, Willie Croft, coming on Lap 3.
From there, Macedo set sail on the cushion for his fourth podium finish and second win during the 2018 Southern Iowa Sprint Week. Continuing to gain speed, John Carney from El Paso, Texas worked from sixth to second for Snow Racing with Croft ending his night third.
Working the low line of the Southern Iowa Speedway, Oklahoma's Blake Hahn steadily made his way from 13th to fourth. Picking up five positions, Washington's Trey Starks made up the top-five.
Racing from eighth to third early on, Wayne Johnson ended up slipping back to sixth with Johnny Herrera grabbing seventh. Seth Bergman in eighth was trailed by Paul Nienhiser with the CP-Carrillo Hard Charger of the Night going to Shane Golobic who moved from 20th to tenth.
With the 5-hour ENERGY Knoxville Nationals presented by Casey's General Store firing off on Wednesday night, the next event for the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by www.Sawblade.com will be Saturday, August 18 at Hamilton County Speedway in Webster City, Iowa and Sunday, August 19 at Missouri State Fair Speedway in Sedalia, Mo.

EASTERN AUTOPARTS WAREHOUSE NIGHT TO SHOWCASE SIX FEATURE EVENTS WITH A NEW
START TIME OF 6:00 PM AT NEW EGYPT SPEEDWAY ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 11
New Egypt, NJ (August 7, 2018) - On Saturday August 11 starting at 6:00
p.m., Eastern AutoParts Warehouse Night takes place at New Egypt Speedway
and six feature events will occur on the d-shaped dirt oval. The Mid
Atlantic Sprint Car Series returns to New Egypt Speedway with two main
events. Along with the previously scheduled complete show, the stars of the
popular winged Sprint Car touring series will compete in the postponed main
event from April 14. Also, a 30-lap feature for the Modifieds is on the
docket following their qualifying contests. The Crate Modifieds, Street
Stocks and 4-Cylinder Cars round out the schedule.
Eastern AutoParts Warehouse, headquartered in Langhorne, PA, is a locally
owned and operated wholesale automotive parts distributor. They have proudly
served the professional technician since 1989. Eastern AutoParts Warehouse
has over 450 GPS-dispatched delivery vehicles to provide quick delivery
service of quality parts throughout Eastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey via

On Saturday, August 11, the pit gates at New Egypt Speedway open at 3:00
p.m. and spectators can begin to enter the grandstand at 4:00 p.m. Hot laps
get started at 5:00 p.m. with the first green flag waving at 6:00 p.m.
Admission to the grandstand is $20 for adults, $18 for seniors 65 and older,
$10 for teens 12-15, $10 for military personal and their spouses with ID,
and Kids 11 & under are FREE. Pit admission is $30 with a New Egypt Speedway
license and $40 with no license.

Port Royal Speedway Results
Posted by: | CommentsLogan Wagner scored his second win of the season for the Zemco stables at Port Royal Speedway on Saturday night, taking the $3,600 sprint car main over Rick Lafferty.
The 22-lap super late model main saw Dover’s Gene Knaub record his first-ever oval division win for a $2,000 payday by holding off a surging Andy Haus.
The 18-lap 305 sprint car main was a thrilling event that went non stop with Newport’s Zach Newlin claiming his second oval checkers of the season while Eric Irvin claimed the econo late model main to close out the night.
Second starter Justin Whittal of Medford, New Jersey took the lead at the start of the 25-lap 410 sprint car main with Kody Lehman and Rick Lafferty giving chase.
The first 18 laps of the event would go non-stop before the only caution flag of the race unfurled.
And during those 18 laps, eighth starter Logan Wagner stormed to the front, up to third on the fourth circuit, behind Lafferty.
It took Wagner seven laps to muscle by Lafferty for second before making an attempt to steal the lead.
But a swoop into the third turn shortly after getting second failed to net him the top spot and instead it allowed Whittal to get away during the ensuing laps.
In fact, Whittal was comfortably in front of Wagner’s No. 1 when the aforementioned caution lights came on for a stopped Dylan Cisney on the frontstretch.
Cisney was running in fourth when he blew a right rear tire in front of a challenging Lucas Wolfe with Wolfe narrowly avoiding major contact.
The caution wiped out a more than one second lead held by Whittal and on the restart, instead of Wagner taking a shot for the win it was Lafferty blasting to the bottom in the first turn.
But Wagner was up to the challenge and held on to second while trying to keep the leader in his sights.
Whittal seemed to be struggling in the turns with five laps to go but still Wagner didn’t close dramatically but then as the pair raced toward the line for the two-to-go sign, Whittal seemed to slip high, allowing Wagner to zoom by for control in a sudden turn of events.
Whittal then zinged down across the track, grazing the inside frontstretch barrier as he worked to keep his wheels underneath all the while losing more spots, to both Lafferty and Wolfe.
Wagner then blasted to the win by 3.897 seconds over the final two laps, followed by Lafferty, Wolfe, Whittal and Jared Esh.
Sixth through 10th went to Tyler Reeser, Mike Wagner, Trenton Sheaffer, Kody Lehman and Joe Kata III.
Heats went to Cisney and Logan Wagner.
Gene Knaub would lead all 22 laps of the super late model main, most of it with Tim Wilson racing in second.
Three caution flags and a red flag hampered Knaub’s pace.
The red flag appeared on the seventh tour when the cars of Tim Smith Jr., Trent Brenneman and Dillan Stake connected in the third turn.
The final restart with two laps to go found Knaub and Wilson followed by Dylan Yoder, Andy Haus and Jeff Rine.
And when action resumed, Haus zoomed to the low side in the first and second turns to dig by both Yoder and Wilson to take over second with a lap to go.
Haus then shot across the bottom in the first and second turns on the final lap to try to steal the win but his car pushed up the track, allowing Knaub to get away to the victory by 1.060 seconds.
Wilson was third followed by Yoder and Rine.
Sixth through 10th went to Dan Stone, Kyle Lear, Roy Deese Jr., Andrew Yoder and Chad Myers.
Heats went to Deese, Rine and Wilson.
Zach Newlin would win the 18-lap 305 sprint main but only after a wild fracas for the win staged between he, Kyle Smith and Drew Ritchey.
Smith started 12th in the field and rolled around the top groove on the opening lap to be sitting fourth when it was completed.
He battled with Ritchey for the first half of the event for second before taking the spot with six laps to go.
Both he and Ritchey then closed on leader Newlin and raced just off of each others bumpers for the final six laps with Newlin outlasting repeated attempted passed for control by Smith with Ritchey waiting to pounce.
Newlin and Smith were side by side more than once including in the final turns but Newlin won the race back to the line for the victory by .172 seconds.
Ritchey was third followed by 16th starter Ken Duke Jr. and Ron Aurand.
Sixth through 10th went to Jonathan Jones, Jaremi Hanson, Nick Sweigart, Tyler Denochik and Austin Bishop.
Heats were won by Newlin, Hanson, Sweigart and Jeff Miller. John Scarborough won the consolation race.
Derick Garman led the first two circuits of the econo late model main before Tim Krape drove by for the lead.
A restart on lap seven saw Eric Irvin blast by Krape for the lead and win.
Irvin amassed a 2.023 second lead by the finish with Krape finishing second followed by Todd Snook, Tim Fedder and Kenny Yoder.
Sixth through 10th went to Derick Garman, JR Toner, Ryan Walls, Ryan Sager and Chase Bowsman.
Heats were taken by Fedder, Irvin and Toner.

BOUC BAGS HIS SECOND MODIFIED WIN OF THE SEASON AT NEW EGYPT SPEEDWAY
New Egypt, NJ (August 5, 2018) - On National Parts Supply's Scout Night at
New Egypt Speedway, Danny Bouc bagged his second Modified feature of the
season. The Hammer Sportsman feature was captured by Joseph Brown. Rich
Mellor claimed the Larry's Hot Rods & Harley's Northeast Wingless Sprint Car
main event.
As the 30-lap feature for the Modifieds got underway, PJ Oliver grabbed the
lead over Davey Sammons and Bryan Kuhl. By the seventh tour, the top two of
Oliver and Sammons were engaged in a duel for the top spot. On the next
circuit, Sammons had just taken command when the yellow flag appeared as
Oliver appeared to have grazed the inside guardrail in the fourth turn and
spun. After another caution on lap nine for a flat on Matt Stangle's ride,
Sammons was still in control with John McClelland and fourteenth place
starting Billy Pauch Jr. next in line. Following another caution and
restart, Sammons was still setting the pace with Pauch Jr., McClelland,
Danny Bouc and David VanHorn in tow as the contest reached the halfway
point. Just after the midway mark of the race, Bouc, who started the feature
in sixteenth, moved his racecar to the upper groove and the tactical change
quickly helped his efforts to move forward. On lap eighteen, Bouc drove by
Sammons to take over the front running spot just before the yellow lights
illuminated for a multi-car tangle on the track. When the green flag waved
again, Bouc remained in first with Pauch Jr. motoring into the runner-up
spot for one lap until VanHorn ascended into second on the next revolution.
As the event progressed into the final third, the scoreboard showed Bouc in
front with VanHorn in second and Sammons in third. With five to go, Bouc was
pulling away from his rivals as Sammons was using the high line to reel in
VanHorn for second. On lap twenty-six, Sammons swept past VanHorn to retake
the spot. Over the closing laps, Bouc continued to increase his advantage to
take his second win of the season and tenth of his career at New Egypt
Speedway. A strong run by Sammons netted the Modified rookie second place.
With VanHorn finishing third, Brandon Grosso was fourth and McClelland came
home in fifth. The Modified heat races were won by David VanHorn, Davey
Sammons and Billy Pauch Jr.
After taking the lead from Bob Rambone on the second circuit, Joseph Brown
survived several restarts in the first half of the 20-lap Hammer Sportsman
feature to capture his first career checkered flag. Brown, who was a rookie
at New Egypt Speedway in 2017, started the race in third. Pat Wall followed
Brown and finished in second place. Third place was taken by Jimmy Amato.
Will Dupree was fourth and fifth went to Cale Ross. Joseph Brown and Pat
Wall were victors in the qualifying events for the Hammer Sportsman.
In the 20-lap Larry's Hot Rods & Harley's Northeast Wingless Sprint Car
feature, Rich Mellor took the lead with six circuits to go and survived a
late restart to gain his first career victory. Duane Nixon led the field for
the opening nine tours before Jermain Godshall gained the top spot following
a restart. Using an inside maneuver in the fourth corner, the fifth place
starting Mellor hopped to the front of the field on lap fourteen. Mellor
repelled a challenge by Lee Nardelli following a caution period with two
laps left to snare the win. Nardelli was second with Karl Freyer taking
third. Heidi Hedin, the heat race winner, and Brian Spencer completed the
top five.
On Saturday, August 11 at New Egypt Speedway, Eastern Auto Parts Warehouse
Night takes place with six feature events. The Modifieds will be in action
along with two main events for the Mid-Atlantic Sprint Car Series (complete
show plus make-up feature from April 14). The Crate Modifieds, Street Stocks
& 4-Cylinders round out the docket. The pit gates swing open at 4:00 p.m.
and spectators can begin to enter the grandstand at 5:00 p.m. Hot laps get
started at 6:00 p.m. with the first green flag waving at 7:00 p.m. Admission
to the grandstand is $20 for adults, $18 for seniors 65 and older, $10 for
teens 12-15, $10 for military personal and their spouses with ID, and Kids
11 & under are FREE. Pit admission is $30 with a New Egypt Speedway license
and $40 with no license.
New Egypt Speedway is located on Route 539 just minutes from Six Flags Great
Adventure and the New Jersey Turnpike. A racy 7/16-mile D-shaped dirt oval,
