BILLY PAUCH JR. WINS THRILLING THUNDER ON THE HILL MODS AT THE MADHOUSE SEASON FINALE AT GRANDVIEW SATURDAY
BECHTELSVILLE, PA (October 15, 2016) – With a full moon looming over the Grandview Speedway, it was Frenchtown, NJ’s Billy Pauch Jr. battling back from a mechanical issue early in the evening to claim a hard fought win in a wild and exciting Mods at the Madhouse main event. Pauch topped a field of forty-two modifieds, taking home the $5,000 prize during Saturday night’s NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series event presented by Pioneer Pole Buildings. This festive Halloween event delivered a spooky scenario with Pauch Jr, Ryan Watt and Craig VonDohren finishing first, second and third, all carrying the car number 14.
“We got off to a rough start this evening breaking the driveshaft in warm ups,” an elated Pauch Jr. explained. “Winning here is really special and I’m glad we could grab one for the Breitenstein team.”
Orefield, PA’s Brett Kressley – aboard the Norm’s Save Station No. 357 machine – set the pace early on and held the lead through some early race cautions, battling with second place starter, John Willman.
Pauch Jr., aboard the Rod Breitenstein-owned No. 14 machine, charged around the outside of Kressley at the conclusion of the third circuit, as Boyertown, PA’s Ryan Watt moved into the third position and claimed second just a few laps later.
The caution flew for the fourth time on the ninth lap, as a mechanical issue ended the night for Kressley – who was holding on to the third position.
Watt slid inside Pauch Jr. on the restart, as Willman battled ten-time Grandview Speedway Champion, Jeff Strunk for the third position.
The pair of No. 14 machines of Watt and Pauch Jr. diced around lapped traffic as competitors got the halfway signal, with ‘The Kid’s Kid’ taking the lead for the second time on lap 23.
A lap 30 yellow retired the machines of Hellertown, PA’s Rick Laubach and Frenchtown, NJ’s Billy Pauch – both with left-side flat tires while running in fifth and sixth respectively.
Watt shot like a rocket on the restart taking the lead from Pauch Jr., only for Pauch Jr. to battle back to the top spot one lap later. Pauch Jr. set his sights on the $5,000 top prize holding off Watt and claiming his second NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series victory.
Ryan Watt settled for the second position, electrifying the crowd with some daring moves. Craig VonDohren of Oley, PA finished in the third position, Mike Gular came home in fourth, Jeff Strunk in fifth.
Ryan Godown, of Ringoes, NJ, charged from the 22nd starting position to finish sixth, Kyle Weiss in seventh, John Willman in eighth, Doug Manmiller in ninth and John McClleland battling back from an early race caution to finish tenth.
Brad Arnold of Sinking Spring, PA picked up the $1,300 top prize in the 25-lap Sportsman main event, dominating the event from the first-place starting position. Arnold’s second Grandview Speedway win of the season was no easy task as he held off previous Thunder winner Paul Kline and Freedom 76 prelude winner Brandon Grosso – who finished in second and third position. 2016 Grandview Track Champion Jordan Henn finished in the fourth position and Jim Houseworth rounded out the top five finishers.
Ringoes, NJ’s Tommy Carberry claimed his first TSRS Sprint Car career victory dominating A-Main. The 29-year-old racer led the field to the green flag and led all of the 20 laps, holding off five-time TSRS Champion Mike Haggenbottom after a lap 19 caution flag. Haggenbottom finished in the second position, Dave Brown finished in third, Tim Tanner Jr. finished in fourth and Chris Allen came home in the third position.
The second running of the Mods at the Madhouse event marked event number 124 of the 27 year history of NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series.

MODIFIEDS, SPORTSMAN & SPRINT CARS HEADLINE “MODS” AT THE MADHOUSE FINALE SATURDAY NIGHT AT GRANDVIEW
BECHTELSVILLE, PA (October 11, 2016) – Big, powerful machines; the fastest drivers in the region; and a Halloween trick-or-treat celebration – that’s what is in store for fans attending Grandview Speedway’s 2016 Modified racing finale this Saturday, October 15.
Action begins at 6 PM.
NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series presents Mods at the Madhouse -- the culmination of the 27th season of Thunder action on the 1/3-mile high banks – including the popular Halloween Party and a full-show with four divisions of racing action with the Modifieds, Sportsman, TSRS Sprint Cars and Vintage Cars all presented by Pioneer Pole Buildings.
The main event features the over 800 horsepower ground-shaking Big-Block Modifieds challenging the ultra-quick Small-Block Modifieds in a 40 lap duel to the finish, where a $5,000 jackpot waits in victory lane. The lucrative Modified finale includes a $1,000 tenth place prize and $500 payday to start the feature.
Drivers from around the region are taking advantage of a special rule package that allows for maximum participation. Hometown heroes like Craig VonDohren, Duane Howard, Jeff Strunk and Doug Manmiller defend the Berks County oval against New Jersey invaders Billy Pauch Sr. and Billy Pauch Jr., Ryan Godown, and Willie Osmun. Plus, Pennsylvania invaders Ryan Watt and Rick Laubach; and young guns like Brett Kressley, Danny Bouc, Jared Umbenhauer, and Ryan Karachi.
The rules package allows for competition from Big and Small Block engines and both American Racer and Hoosier Tires. However, no open small block motors will be permitted. For further rule information visit www.thunderonthehillracingseries.com
The Sportsman compete in a 25-lap, $1,300 to win main event. 2016 Grandview Speedway Sportsman Champion Jordan Henn looks to hold off 2016 New Egypt Speedway Sportsman Champion and winner of the Freedom 76 Sportsman Spectacular Brandon Grosso to claim the top prize. Grandview Sportsman contenders Craig Whitmoyer, Ryan Lillick and Brian Hirthler are expected to be in competition.
Five-time TSRS Sprint Car Series Champion Mike Haggenbottom leads the winged warriors into the Thunder on the Hill Racing Series finale with Tim Tanner Jr., Jeff Geiges, Kyle Purks and Chris Allen expected for competition.
The NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series Halloween Party events have been a staple of the Grandview Speedway schedule for over 15 years and will again include the Costume Parade. Race fans young and old are encouraged to dress in costume to be eligible for special Halloween treats.
Kressley’s Auto and Truck present “Joe the Pizza Dude” offering up hot, delicious and FREE pizzas to the rowdiest of race fans. Make some noise when ‘The Pizza Dude’ comes around!
Fans interested in early admission can take part in our Advance Ticket Reserve. Advanced tickets are available by calling 443-513-4456, where you can leave a message with your name, contact number, and the number of tickets you would like. Tickets may be paid for and picked-up at the Grandview Speedway Will Call window on race night after 3:00 PM. Advanced ticket holders may enter the grandstands at 3:30 PM a full half-hour before General Admission tickets go on sale.
General Admission ticket pricing for Saturday, October 15 is $25 for adults, Children 6-11 are $10 and Kids 5 & Under are FREE! Pit Area admission is $35 and a license is not required.
The Pit gates open at 2:00 PM, Advanced ticket holders can enter at 3:30 PM, General Admission gates open at 4:00 PM and the first Green flag flies at 6:00 PM.
Celebrating the 27th season of racing action, the NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series always includes fun for the fans with activities such as: Pre-Race Pit Tours, the Inside/Out Experience – where fans can sign-up to watch hot laps from the infield, giveaways, fireworks, and appearances by the Thunder Girls. Jim Gallagher and GALCO Communications always take part in offering some special fun for the race fans.

Late-Race Heroics Score Friesen Fifth NAPA Super DIRT Week Crown
OSWEGO, N.Y. - October 9, 2016 - The 45th Annual NAPA Auto Parts Super DIRT Week concluded with Sprackers, New York's Stewart Friesen, making a late-race pass to claim his third-straight, fifth overall NAPA Super DIRT Week Bud Light 200 and the $50,000 payday.
Tim Fuller in the 358-Modified division held off a charging Stewart Friesen in the Riccelli-Northern Salute the Troops 100 after leading wire-to-wire for the win. David Marcuccilli held on to win the Sportsman Chevy Performance 50 Championship. And Rob Yetman was victorious in the Pro Stock 30 Final.
Super DIRTcar Series Big Block Modifieds
Stewart Friesen is no stranger at doing the NAPA Auto Parts Super DIRT Week roof dance, which he did as he picked up his fifth NAPA Super DIRT Week victory Sunday night at Oswego Speedway. Friesen closed the books at Syracuse with a win last year and made history this year with the first ever dirt win at Oswego Speedway in the Halmar International No. 44 Big Block Modified.
"I'll tell you what, my guys worked so hard. The Halmar racing team did a great job. I have great teammates," Friesen said in victory lane. "I want to thank everyone for supporting this event. The track conditions were challenging, but that was an exciting race. Just standing up here on this thing with all of the great guys that won the Classic and the modified races is pretty damn cool. It's a dream come true. It's so surreal. I have to thank all of my people who got me to this point."

Tim Fuller dominated the DIRTcar 358 Modified Series all week and continued his reign Sunday night at Oswego Speedway to win the Riccelli-Northern Salute the Troops 100 at the 45th Annual NAPA Auto Parts Super DIRT Week.
Fuller started on the pole after setting fast time in Thursday's time trial session and won the first twin 25-lap heat on Friday night before leading every lap of Sunday's main event to complete the weekend sweep.
"Randy and Bob Slack, they brought a great car. We unloaded fast and finished up fast. It was a pleasure to drive. We're two-for-two in that car," said Fuller, who also won in the Slack-owned No.3rs 358 Modified earlier this season at Mohawk International Raceway.

Sportsman Modifieds
Dave Marcuccilli battled the rigor of an extended race program Sunday night to win the Sportsman Chevy Performance 50 Championship at Oswego Speedway for the finale of the prestigious 45th running of the NAPA Auto Parts Super DIRT Week. Marcuccilli and company did not disappoint as the jam-packed crowd at the Clay Palace gave the week's last feature event a standing ovation.
The 30-car feature event was comprised of more than 60 percent native New Yorkers. Cayuga, N.Y. driver David Marcuccilli led the field into the green flag for 50 laps after recording the fastest lap in time trials on Friday with a 23.451.
In a nine-caution marathon, not one Sportsman driver conserved their race car. When the green flag waved, the two rows of 15 cars merged - some wasting no time to rub fenders with each other. Rocky Warner, who recorded the third fastest lap in time trials, made his push to the top from third place. The only driver separating him from leaving Oswego on a high note was Tyler Meeks.

Pro Stock
Rob Yetman claimed his fourth NAPA Auto Parts Super DIRT Week title during the Pro Stock 30 Feature, but it wasn't an easy path to Victory Lane for anyone on the podium. "Super Dirt Week, whether it was at the mile or here, I have nothing to complain about. It's been good to me," Yetman said. "Just to be able to drive here or there... I love it."
Yetman started in the ninth position, and it wasn't until halfway through the feature (and many cautions) that he appeared in the top three, battling against PJ Peters, Jason Casey, Jim Normolye and Pete Stefanski to get there. He wasn't the only driver charging the front line from behind.
Nick Stone, who finished second tonight in the feature, almost didn't make the race. Stone didn't secure his starting spot until the Last Chance Qualifier, where he placed third. Only four drivers would make it to the feature from the showdown. He secured position 27 of 30 cars in the starting line up for the feature.
"Really, we had a fast car right from the beginning," said Stone. "We've been tweaking the car to make it a little bit better, but I just didn't let what happened [to me earlier today] bother me. We've come from the back to the front before, and that's when we just went with it. The key is to be patient and go with it. We had a blast out there"

PAUCH RACES TO KING OF THE BIG BLOCKS TITLE
Swedesboro, NJ September 24, 2016 - During his forty plus year career, Billy Pauch has earned many titles. King of the Big Blocks can now be added!
Billy Pauch raced to the win in the first King of the Big Blocks event at the Bridgeport Speedway in front of a huge crowd of racing fans, many of whom were seeing their first race on the 5/8th mile speedway. The King of the Big Blocks is sponsored by K&A Excavating and United Rentals.
Pauch's performance was flawless, starting out with a win in his qualifying event, drawing the pole for the fifty lap feature and then leading from the green to the checkered flag and the $12,000 pay check. Pauch spends most of his Saturday nights racing Small Block Modifieds but the accomplished veteran proved that he's got what it takes regardless of the division that he's racing. "I hope I can do this a few more times before I give it up," Pauch said following the victory.
Pauch took over sole possession of third on Bridgeport's All Time Feature win list as his win in the King of the Big Blocks moved Pauch's total to fifty-nine - just one win ahead of Wade Hendrickson. Pauch first won on the 5/8th mile Bridgeport Speedway in March of 1987.
Pauch held off challenges from 2015 Bridgeport Champion, Jamie Mills to capture the prestigious win. Mills finished second with his Blue Hen No. 30. Dominick Buffalino, the winner of the 2016 season opener, finished third in the Pat Michael No. 51m while former multi-time track champion, Duane Howard finished fourth in a new Norm Hansell owned No. 357. Young Brett Kressley finished fifth after running as high as third in his Kressley Truck Sales No. 19B.
Ryan Godown, Billy Pauch, Jr. and Neal Williams followed the top five across the finish line. Sam Martz and 2016 Bridgeport Champion, Ryan Watt made tremendous comebacks to finish in the top ten after both were involved in early race incidents. Watt was forced to pit on two separate occasions to replace broken shocks.
The Stewart Stainless Crate Sportsman and PennCo Tech Outlaw Stocks joined the Big Block Modifieds on the King of the Big Blocks racing card.
The number to be was 99 in the Crate/Sportsman action as Craig Whitmoyer raced ahead of Brian Papiez to capture the feature win at the end of twenty laps. Whitmoyer last won at Bridgeport in during the 2012 season while Papiez was a feature winner earlier this season..
Eric Kormann finished third with pressure from Brandon Grasso who finished fourth. Ryan Lilick finished fifth, coming all the way from a twenty-third starting position to finish in the top five.
Tom Wills, Jr. picked up his second win of the 2016 season in the Outlaws Stock feature. After running fourteen consecutive green flag laps, there were two cautions before the final lap could be scored.
Wills raced ahead of Ken Watson, Jr. for the win after former track champion, Pat Conaway spun on the final circuit. Spider Ensinger picked up another solid finish to take third over Mike Creamer and Brian Ludwig.
The Bridgeport Speedway will present the bonus hand of the 811 Dig Safely 2016 Poker Series this coming Saturday, October 1st. The Spirit Auto Center Big Blocks, Stewart Stainless Crate/Sportsman and PennCo Tech Outlaw Stocks will compete in the tripleheader show to be followed by Powder Puff competition on the quarter mile. Drivers have the opportunity to better their poker hands during this event. Racing gets underway at 6pm.

IT'S COZZE OVER PAUCH IN BARNBURNER ON THE EVE OF THE KING OF THE BIG BLOCKS!
Swedesboro, NJ September 23, 2016 - It brought back memories for seasoned racing fans!
It was a show not many will forget as two drivers who have forged stellar careers in stock car racing over the span of forty years battled wheel to wheel and side by side for more than half the race.
Frank Cozze picked up his first Bridgeport Speedway win in more than twenty years as he held off the challenges of Billy Pauch to win the twenty-five lap 358 Small Block Modified feature event at the Bridgeport Speedway on the eve of the first running of The King of the Big Blocks! It was Cozze's seventh Bridgeport Speedway win while Pauch sits tied for third on the track's All Time Feature Winner's List with fifty-eight wins.
It was Cozze's fourth win of the season for car owner, Tom Umbenhauer. Cozze lined up along side of 2016 Bridgeport Champion, Ryan Watt for the start and quickly jumped out in front. Pauch drove into second from his sixth place start on lap eleven and the battle was on.
Lap after lap, Pauch would race ahead of Cozze on the inside as the two battled side by side through the turns but it was Cozze who would roll the outside off the corner to regain the lead. Pauch edged ahead as the leaders raced across the line to complete lap seventeen but Cozze was back in front as the pair exited turn two on the next circuit.
Cozze and Pauch led a stellar field of talent to the checkered flag at the end of twenty-five laps. The amount of racing history represented in those first to spots is nothing less than staggering. Billy Pauch, Jr. finished third in his own Kid Racing No. 15. Dominick Buffalino finished fourth with Brett Kressley racing into fifth on the final laps.
Watt, Tyler Dippel, Craig VonDohren, Ryan Krachun and Rick Laubach rounded out the top ten finishers.
Steph Palmai-Carberry returned to Bridgeport's Victory Lane when she picked up the win in the Hilborn Tri-State Race Savers Sprint Car (TSRS) feature event earlier in the evening after leading from the green flag to the checkered. The winner was greeted in Victory Lane by her father and grandfather who have played integral roles in her racing career.
Tim Tanner raced into second on lap fourteen and began to cut in to the lead but was unable to get to Palmai-Carberry's No. 99 before the checkered. Tanner finished second with Robbie Stillwaggon racing into third in the race's final laps. Tommy Carberry, the winner's husband finishing fourth with Mike Haggenbottom rounding out the top five. It was the final night of points for TSRS as Haggenbottom earned his fifth consecutive title with his fifth place finish.
Several hot lap sessions were offered for the Big Block Modifieds who will take center stage tonight (Saturday) in the first King of the Big Blocks event. Fifty laps of Big Block Modifieds with $12,000 going to the winner in an event sponsored by K&A Excavating Company and United Rental Inc.
By virtue of the quick laps in the final timed sessions, Craig VonDohren and Brett Kressley earned guaranteed starting spots in the King of the Big Blocks.

MAURIELLO BREAKS WALL STADIUM DROUGHT WITH MODIFIED WIN SATURDAY
WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. September 24, 2016- Eric Mauriello put all of his bad fortunes of the 2016 season behind him Saturday night and won the 40-lap Downs Ford Modified stock car main event at Wall Stadium Speedway. The “Snap On Night” win was the Howell resident’s first victory of the season.
Mauriello took full advantage of the front row starting spot, earned in the handicapping system by his streak of poor fortunes, to rocket to the lead at the outset. He was first forced to fight off the advances of Derek Hopkinson before the Toms River race was forced to pit on lap 26 with a flat right front tire. Steven Reed of Jackson, the defending champion and point leader, then took up the chase and hounded Mauriello most of the way.
At the checker flag Mauriello was the winner while Reed stretched his point lead slightly by finishing second. Title contender Andrew Krause of Holmdel, who spent much of the race passing cars in the outside lane, finished third and another title contender, Chas Okerson of Freehold, was fourth. New Egypt’s Jason Hearne was fifth.
“It just feels good to get this off my shoulders and win a race,” Mauriello said in the winner’s circle. “This has been a real tough year. We’ve had some good finishes and we’ve had out share of bad luck. It is really nobody’s fault, just racing. I have to thank Dick and Robert Barney for giving me a great car every week and for sticking with it.”
Snap On Sportsman title contender Ricky Collins of Willow Grove, Pa. overcame challenges by Dom Fattarusso of Brick and Jackson’s Blake Barney to cross the finish line first in the 30-lap “Fan Appreciation Night” feature race. Barney was second and Kenny Van Wickle of Manasquan was third. Tyler Truex of Mayetta and Nick Shaw wrapped up the top five. Howell’s Kevin Davison, the point leader going into the event, was involved in two skirmishes during the race and was forced to come from the rear of the field twice. The combination of Collins’ crossing the line first and Davison’s eighth place finish puts them in a points knot going into this Saturday’s final point race of the campaign.
As of Sunday the Sportsman finish is not yet official while technical inspectors determine whether or not a motor part in Collins car conforms to rules.
Ron Booth of Eatontown grabbed the lead with ten laps remaining to win the O’Shea’s Auto Repair Factory Stock 25-lapper. Booth, who works for Snap On, enjoyed his win in front of his company’s crowd. Brick’s Joe Mongeau all but wrapped up the driving title by finishing second, with early leader Scott Maher of Brick, Union’s Joey Helberg and Gerry Koenig of Seaford, N.Y. completing the top five.
TJ Graves of Wall crossed the finish line first in the Surf Side Collision 4 Cylinder Stock 25-lapper, but when his car had trouble with an unapproved chassis part in post-race inspection Brick’s Ronnie Mullen was awarded the win. Howell’s Brian Osborn, Darren Burdge of Jackson, Brick’s Jason Lane and Jeff Loesch of Neptune City were second through fifth.
Defending champ Robert French of Howell won the 25-lapper for the Green Flag Driving Experience Legend Cars grabbing the top spot near halfway. Joe McGrath of Middletown, Edgewater Park’s Nick Van Wickle, Brick’s Chris Gall and Peter Bruno of Little Silver completed the top five.
Shannon Mongeau of Manchester won his second straight 25-lapper for the Elite Maintenance Limited Late Models coming from the rear of the field. Freehold’s Howie Conk, Ray Minieri of Bay Shore, N.Y., Brian Doyle of Ronkonkoma, N.Y. and point leader Mike Tillett of Bayville were second through fifth.
The Saturday night stock car regular season wraps up this Saturday (Oct. 1) with “Champions’ Night” competition. All feature races will offer double points and champions will be crowned in every division. In competition will be the Modifieds in a 40-lapper, the Sportsman cars in a 30-lapper and the Factory Stocks, Legend Cars, Limited Late Models and the 4 Cylinder Stocks all racing in 25-lappers. Grandstand seating opens at 5:00 p.m. Qualifying starts at 5:45 p.m. and feature racing begins at 7:00 p.m. In the event of rain on “Champions’ Night,” a Saturday night, October 8, rain date is in effect.
Post-season events, the “Spooky Spectacular” on October 15 and the Thanksgiving weekend “Turkey Derby,” are also being planned. Each event will be contested during the daylight hours and details will be announced soon.

Danny Johnson is King of the Hill Picks up first series win of the season

WEEDSPORT, N.Y. - Sept. 17, 2016 - Danny Johnson picked up his first Super DIRTcar Series victory of the season in the Shakelton Auto and Truck Parts No. 27J and collected his 80th series win Saturday night at Weedsport Speedway. Johnson battled Tim Fuller early for the lead but sailed away to take the King of the Hill 100 and take home the $10,000 payday over Matt Sheppard and Fuller.
"We had a good race with Timmy Fuller. I love racing with Timmy, he's a good, clean racer," Johnson said. "We raced side-by-side and I was able to get ahead of him that lap there when I got to the bottom and was then able to pull away from him. I'd like to thank my car owner Chris Gennarelli, my engine builder as well as my boys for getting it ready and everyone who has helped us out."
Mat Williamson and Tim Kerr drew the front row in the Dig Safely redraw and brought the 31-car field to the initial green flag.
Kerr jumped out to an early lead over Fuller and Johnson. Just as Fuller and Johnson started to put pressure on Kerr for the top spot the first caution of the night came out on lap 11 due to a right rear flying off of sixth place starter Rob Bellinger's car.
Fuller took advantage of the lap 22 restart and took the lead from Kerr. Johnson then advanced into the second spot from Kerr and then snuck up to Fuller's rear bumper as he started to put pressure on Fuller.
Johnson took the lead over Fuller coming off of turn four on lap 28 but Fuller didn't give up as they battled side-by-side for several laps, swapping first and second.
Tenth starter Sheppard made his way into the top three by lap 33 and slowly gained ground on the leaders.
Six cars piled up going into turn one on lap 37 bringing out the second caution of the night. Brett Hearn and Ryan Phelps were two of the drivers involved that received extensive damage on their cars forcing them to go pit side.
Wight took advantage of the lap 45 restart as he took back the third spot from Sheppard. Wight drove by Fuller on the outside coming out of turn four for the second position the next lap by.
Johnson led his No. 27J small block modified to the halfway mark over Wight, Fuller, Sheppard and Peter Britten.
Fuller and Sheppard were knocking on Wight's doors as Sheppard took third from Fuller on lap 58.
Johnson caught the back of the field on lap 60 as he showed a straightaway over second place runner Wight.
Wight changed his lane and moved to the top in turns one and two allowing Sheppard to drive underneath and take over second on lap 63.
Sheppard soon found his way into lap traffic as he worked his way around the top of the track to gain ground on Johnson.
Wight fell off the pace allowing Fuller and Friesen to go by for the third and fourth spot.
Johnson edged his way through heavy lap traffic building a strong lead of 2.067 seconds over Sheppard.
After a hard wreck at Brewerton Speedway the night before Johnson made a strong comeback to capture his 80th Super DIRTcar Series victory and collect the $10,000 payday at Weedsport Speedway over Sheppard, Fuller, Friesen and Wight.
"I watched the 9s come up on the leader board into second. I didn't want to give him a chance so I went as fast as I could. I had no idea how much of a lead I had. All I knew was, whoever was in second, especially Matt, wanted to be first."
After a streak of four wins in a row Sheppard was disappointed with how the race turned out but was happy for Johnson and his team.
"We didn't draw a great number. It was kind of the same deal as last night and then worked our way through the front. We had a really good car but didn't have anything for Danny tonight. Hats off to Danny, he needed this win."
After a hard fought battle between him and Johnson for the lead early on, Fuller fell back a few spots but came back through late in the race to finish third.
"We were really good in the beginning then Danny lined up beside us with that small block and I think he was toying with us having a small block. We weren't that good. I would say around lap twenty or thirty he got us. I went back a few more spots then my car got good enough again towards the end of the race. I think the car was good enough to be second but not to beat Danny."
Race Notes: 40 modifieds attempted to qualify and 31 started the feature. Two cautions were brought out during the feature on lap 11 and lap 37. Johnson collected his 80th Super DIRTcar Series victory.
The Super DIRTcar Series will be making their first trip of the season to Fonda Speedway on Saturday, Sept. 24th.
