Aaron Reutzel gets by Tony Stewart to earn Utica-Rome Speedway win during third-ever All Star visit
VERNON, N.Y. (July 12, 2019) - Clute, Texas’ Aaron Reutzel has been on a tear, officially adding Utica-Rome Speedway in Vernon, New York, to his recent success streak that now includes four victories during his last six Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 starts. Impressive enough, Reutzel’s Utica-Rome triumph on Friday night was accomplished from the outside of row two, mastering an uncharacteristic, lightning-fast, Utica-Rome surface while maneuvering around the likes of Justin Peck, Paul McMahan, and three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion and recent NASCAR Hall of Fame inductee, Tony Stewart.
Utica-Rome’s racing surface was extra saturated due to overnight rain, as well as on and off periods of drizzle that extended through the early afternoon hours.
Reutzel’s All Star victory bumped his season total to six, now with a 22-point advantage over Dale Blaney in the All Star driver title chase.
“Our car was phenomenal tonight,” Aaron Reutzel said in Utica-Rome victory lane, driver of the Baughman-Reutzel Motorsports/Folkens Brothers Trucking/Hollywood Coating and Blasting/Fischer Body Shop/No. 87 sprint car. “We had options tonight. We could drive through the middle of turns one and two which really gave us a boost down the backstretch, or we could rip the top. I was a little nervous coming here tonight because I’ve seen so many videos and noticed how slick the surface was. I’m glad Mother Nature stepped-in and gave us this surface tonight because this was one bad ass race track.”
During only the third Utica-Rome Speedway appearance in All Star Circuit of Champions history, the first since 2012, Aaron Reutzel made his efforts look easy. After being forced to maintain patience through a pair of cautions during the initial start, the defending All Star champion achieved the jump that he needed. With just one circuit recorded, Reutzel was second, next setting aim on the tailtank of Tony Stewart. Although Stewart was able to balance the very top-side of the speedway, maintaining a pace well-under the preexisting track record, it was an early dose of lapped traffic that proved to be Smoke’s downfall.
By lap six, it was apparent that slower cars were going to be an issue, it was just a matter of when. As Stewart and Reutzel were racing into turn one to begin lap seven, Stewart choked up, instantly losing momentum while trying to carefully navigate around a slower roadblock. It was during that period that Reutzel made his winning move, actually driving right by Stewart on the bottom of the speedway as the pair raced off of turn two.
Although action was halted yet again on lap 16, there was no match for Reutzel’s pace, instantly opening up his advantage as soon as green flag action returned. Reutzel would eventually cross under the final checkers with an advantage pushing two seconds, keeping Stewart, Justin Peck, Paul McMahan and Cory Eliason in tow.
“That was my fault for being a little too timid in lapped traffic,” Tony Stewart said regarding Reutzel’s move around him early on during the main event. “I really wasn’t sure where some of those lapped cars were going to go. Having a guy like Aaron Reutzel behind you, you really can’t hesitate or wait too long. A guy like that is going to pounce and that’s exactly what he did.”
“Hats off to this entire track prep team here tonight,” Stewart continued. “It took a little extra work to get this place into shape, but they got it done and it made for an exciting race.”
The All Star Circuit of Champions will resume their three-day sweep through the Empire State on Saturday evening, July 13, at the home of the hard clay - Orange County Fair Speedway in Middletown, New York. Perhaps the largest oval on the schedule - a sprawling 5/8-mile - the visit to Orange County will be highlighted with a main event purse exceeding $33,000; $10,000 to the main event winner, as well as a minimum of $600 to each feature starter.
Orange County Fair Speedway in Middletown, New York, will open pit gates at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 13. A mandatory All Star drivers meeting will take shape at 4:30 p.m. with hot laps to follow at 5 p.m., sharp. MCINTOSH LIGHT AT SCALES; NEUMAN ASSUMES WIN AT VALLEY
GRAIN VALLEY, MO. (July 12, 2019) - No matter the story, no matter the driver, no matter the place, rules are rules. Unfortunately, on Friday night at Valley Speedway, 16-year old Cannon McIntosh was disqualified after initially winning his first-career POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League feature. Rolling across the scales on numerous occasions, the No. 08 consistently came across short of the 1,050 lbs. minimum requirement, ultimately giving Jake Neuman of New Berlin, Ill. his fourth-career POWRi National Midget victory.
Before the scene at the scales, the 30-lap "Thunder in the Valley" National / West feature was brought to life by front row starters Chance Morton of Coweta, Okla. and Zach Daum of Pocahontas, Ill. as the green flag flew. Leading the opening circuit, Daum stuck his Bullet/Toyota No. 5D to the low side, but Morton wound his No. 7M up on the high line and drove around to take the lead on lap two.
A lap nine caution jumbled the field back up and sixth-starter Cannon McIntosh came firing with a slider on Daum for the second spot. Another stoppage for top-five running Ace McCarthy halted the action and the ensuing restart saw a three-war war break out between McIntosh, Daum and Hank Davis for the runner-up position. Swapping slider-after-slider, corner-after-corner, McIntosh finally broke free of the battle and set his sights on Morton out front.
Restarting with 12 laps left, McIntosh had a golden opportunity to seize the lead and quickly took a shot at Morton, but the No. 7M prevailed and remained in control. However, on lap 22, the race took a wild turn. Attempting a slider for the lead into turn one, McIntosh's No. 08 drifted up just as Morton started hopping, and slight contact sent Morton over the cushion and upside down over the banking of turn two.
While Morton's bid for career-win #1 came to a disappointing end, the field re-fired with eight to go and McIntosh quickly pulled away. As lap traffic became tense and McIntosh's No. 08 was too tight on the cushion, Daum began to sneak in close and set up for a final lap chance at the win. However, the No. 5D stalled it in turn three going for the win, bringing his machine to a stop and setting up a one-lap dash to checkered.
Driving around Neuman's slidejob effort in turn one, McIntosh slapped it off the curb and drove away to his first-career POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League victory. A win months-in-the-making, the 16-year old Bixby, Okla. native had finally conquered a POWRi National Midget feature aboard the Dave Mac Motorsports, Drive WFX, Spike/Toyota No. 08. However, even as excited and jubilant the victory lane ceremony was, the emotions were short-lived and soon took a 180.
Rolling across the scales in hopes of meeting the mandatory rulebook weight minimum of 1,050 lbs, McIntosh's No. 08 came across light. As the mood drastically changed, the crew rolled him off and back on, only to fall short once again. Making a third and final attempt at hitting the minimum limit, McIntosh's machine missed the mark again, resulting in a heartbreaking disqualification for the young gasser.
Ultimately, Jake Neuman of New Berlin, Ill. was awarded his fourth-career POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League victory. A winner here in July of last year, the triumph marks back-to-back wins at Valley for Neuman aboard his Jim Neuman Racing, Brandt, BOSS/SR-11 No. 3N.
Coming across in second-place and earning Toyota Racing Development Hard Charger honors, Andrew Felker of Carl Junction, Mo. supplied a magnificent 18th-to-second bid in his Chad Shields Racing, MelMark Pipe & Supply, Ripper/Fontana No. 44S. Rounding out the podium was tenth-starter Jesse Colwell of Red Bluff, Calif. aboard the Keith Kunz Motorsports, JBL Audio, Bullet/Toyota No. 71.
Closing out the top ten was Kyle Jones with a 14th-to-fourth effort, Ace McCarthy recovering to fifth, Daniel Robinson moving from 21st-to-sixth, Holley Hollan crossing in seventh, Austin Brown advancing to eighth, Daison Pursley picking up ninth and Trey Marcham managing a tenth-place run.
The POWRi Lucas Oil National / West Midgets return to Valley Speedway in Grain Valley, Mo. on Saturday for the second night of "Thunder in the Valley." On Sunday, the National superstars and the West regional warriors head for Humboldt Speedway in Humboldt, Kans. to conclude the three-day weekend.

Sam Hafertepe, Jr. Dominates Opening Night Of The Grizzly Nationals At Gallatin Speedway

(July 12, 2019) Several times denied by as much as a single lap at the NAPA of Montana Grizzly Nationals, Sam Hafertepe, Jr. made sure there was no question who was going to win at Gallatin Speedway as the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network point's leader won by a staggering 7.722 seconds on Friday night.
Hafertepe's sixth win on the season, the victory is his first at the Gallatin Speedway, making Sam the fourth different winner at the Belgrade oval. The triumph is also Sam's first with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network in the state of Montana.

Getting his time in SawBlade.com Victory Lane with Adam the Grizzly Bear, Sam was all smiles as the 900lbs Bear made his way to the right rear of his No. 15h, "This is the one race all year that Pam [Hill] wanted us to win so this win is for her, but we had an awesome car. Really, the best car we've had all year," stated Hafertepe.
Battling early with Kelly Miller for the lead, the two traded lines but not positions on the opening laps, which was barely completed when the red lights came on for Scott Bogucki who flipped wildly over the wall in the fourth turn after contact with Harli White while racing for fifth. Bogucki was unharmed, but not able to continue.
Adjusting his line to the cushion on the restart, Hafertepe pulled the field as Miller held off the advance of Matt Covington for the silver position. Finding traffic by Lap 7, Hafertepe methodically picked his way around the backmarkers, while continuing to put distance between himself and the Prevost Racing No. 2jr.
Racing to second on Lap 10 with the help of slower traffic, Matt Covington made little advance on the Hills Racing No. 15h. Still, under pressure from Kelly Miller for second, Covington starting getting some breathing room as the race came to the white flag.
Streaking under the checkered flag, Hafertepe lapped just shy of the top-ten as the race for second turned to Kelly Miller as Matt Covington's right rear exploded off the final turn. Able to limp the T&L Foundry No. 95 across third, fourth went to John Carney II who was challenged several times by Harli White, who settled for fifth.
The night's Hard Charger in a Jimmy Jones tuned machine, Montana's Jeremy McCune picked up eight spots to sixth with Blake Hahn seventh after starting 10th. Trever Kirkland, Roger Crockett, and Tony Bruce, Jr. completed the top ten.
A field of 31 drivers assembled for Night 1 of the NAPA of Montana Grizzly Nationals. Breaking down into four SCE Gaskets Heat Races, with wins going to Harli White, Trever Kirkland, Sam Hafertepe, Jr., and Matt Covington. The night's BMRS B-Feature was topped by Jake Helsel. A Frontier Regional Provisional was used by Damon McCune.
The NAPA of Montana Grizzly Nationals continues Saturday, July 13 at Gallatin Speedway with racing at 7:00 P.M. (MT). Grandstands are $20 for adults with kids 12 and under free. New Egypt, NJ – Upper Freehold/Hamilton Township Night just got a whole lot more fun this Saturday night at New Egypt Speedway.
In addition to the action on the track in the Vahlco Wheels Modifieds, Mid Atlantic 305 Sprint Cars, Crate Modifieds and Street Stock divisions, there have been two fun fan activities added to this Saturday nights events.
First, is our annual Sausage eating contest presented by Premio Foods. First place in the event will win $100, 2nd wins $50 with third place taking home $25 all courtesy of Premio Foods.
Second, will be the kid’s boxcar challenge that has been rescheduled from this past Saturday night.
What is the boxcar challenge? Kids are invited to design their own boxcars up just like their favorite NES driver and will run around our RC speedway with the boxcar held around their waist.
This is all addition to all Upper Freehold and Hamilton Township residents receiving free grandstand admission with any proof of residency.
Pit gates will open at 4pm on Saturday, Grandstands at 5pm with Hot Laps being scheduled for 6pm and the first green flag of the evening flying at 7pm. Adult (16+) admission is $20, Seniors (65+) are $18, Teens (12-15) & Military w/ID are $10 and just like every other Saturday night event Kids 11 & under are FREE!

“FIRST RESPONDERS” WILL BE HONORED AT WALL STADIUM SATURDAY (JULY 13) WITH TWIN MOD RACES
WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. ~ Exciting stock car racing, which will feature twin 40 laps races for the All American Auto Group Modified stock cars, will take center stage on the speedway and community heroes will be honored in the grandstands as Wall Stadium Speedway presents “First Responders Night” this Saturday (July 13). On the track five divisions will compete in six main events while in the grandstands the men and women who serve our community in police forces, fire companies and rescue squads will be admitted to the spectator area free of charge with proper identification.
Grandstand seating will open at 5:00 p.m. and qualifying is set for 5:45 p.m. The evening’s main event action will follow around 7:00 p.m. In addition, the track will celebrate the nation's birthday with a special performance by the Newark Fire Department Honor Guard and the New Jersey Pipe Band.
On the third mile high-banked paved oval the Modifieds will be in the spotlight in two 40-lap main events. Top drivers Eric Mauriello of Brick, Andrew Krause of Holmdel, Jackson's Steven Reed, Roger Coss of Lafayette, Ron Frees of Lanoka Harbor, Derek Hopkinson of Toms River and Jason Treat of Jackson, just to name a few, are expected to see action.
The Center State Engineering Sportsman cars, the O’Shea’s Auto Repair Factory Stocks, the Surfside Collision 4 Cylinder Stocks and the Mike's Performance Center Limited Late Models are all slated to compete in 25-lap feature races.
Saturday’s schedule will see the competitor pit area open at 1:00 p.m. Regular practice will start at 3:00 p.m., while spectator seating will open at 5:00 p.m. Qualifying for the night’s program starts at 5:45 p.m. and main events will follow at 7:00 p.m.
Wall Stadium presents professional motorsports events on Saturdays and Sundays through early October. Special events are also featured in the fall including the “Spooky Spectacular” in October and the season ending Turkey Derby on Friday, Saturday and Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend. The speedway is located on Route 34 in Wall Township, N.J., just one mile north of Garden State Parkway exit 98 and Interstate 195 exit 35B. BECHTELSVILLE, PA July 9, 2019 . . . With $2,000 up for grabs for a win in the T.P.Truck Equipment NASCAR Sportsman Firecracker 40 on Hatfield Quality Meats Night this Saturday, July 13th at Grandview Speedway you just know competition is going to be fierce. And consider the fact that the racers have been rained out for the past two Saturdays and you just know they will be chomping at the bit to go racing especially with the big bucks on the line.
Point leader Brian Hirthler will be a favorite to win. The Green Lane racing talent will have plenty of competition as he goes for the rich victory and a chance to increase his lead in the standings for the NASCAR Sportsman track title.
At present Hirthler has just a 26 point lead over challenger Brad Grim. With the help of two feature wins the past champion has 1999 counters while Grim, without a win, sits with 1973 points. Veteran Brad Brightbill has two wins and 1935 points.
Looking to gain some ground with a strong effort in the 40-lap race will be Kyle Lilick, Brad Arnold, Kyle Smith and a host of others.
Joining the Sportsman as part of the tripleheader will be the T.P.Trailers NASCAR 358 Modifieds lead by such standouts as point leader and ten time track champion Craig VonDohren along with Duane Howard and Rick Laubach. Also joining the action with be another ten time track champion Jeff Strunk who has been on a hot streak lately.
And the always fun to watch Blast from the Past Vintage Racers will close out the three division show.
Fans are invited to visit the Low Down & Dirty Meet and Greet featuring Sportsman racers Brad Brightbill and Mike Koffel along with Modified racer Louden Reimert. It all gets started at 5 p.m. in the main entrance area.
Adult admission is $22, youngsters 6 through 11 pay just $5 and kids under 6 are admitted free.
Coming up on Saturday, July 20th is another tripleheader show featuring the Capital Renegade United Racing Club Sprints in their first appearance of the season at Grandview. Heading up the Sprint action will be Josh Weller, Chad Layton, Curt Michael, Austin Bishop, former Grandview Late Model champion Ed Aikin who has a URC feature win this season and a host of other Sprint standouts.
The NASCAR 358 Modifieds and Sportsman will be making up the rest of the three division show that is sponsored by T.P.Trailers and Truck Equipment of Limerick, PA.
Adult admission for this not to be missed show is $25, youngsters 6 through 11 pay $5 and kids under 6 are admitted free.
