#LetsRaceTwo, but Let's Win One First Logan Schuchart scores his first-ever Eldora Speedway win
ROSSBURG, OH - May 12, 2017 - Logan Schuchart scored his first-ever Eldora Speedway win Friday night during the #LetsRaceTwo opener, battling Eldora veteran Shane Stewart for the lead from laps eight through 12, after which Schuchart retained it for the remaining 18 laps to secure his fourth career World of Outlaws win and second win this season.
"It's the place you always want to win at," said the Shark Racing 1s driver about Eldora after his win. "As a little kid I dreamt about being a World of Outlaws driver. Eldora, with all the history behind it, it's really cool. My grandfather won the first Outlaw race here in '78, so being able to win this race with him by my side is really cool. I hope it means something for July. My grandfather won the Knoxville Nationals. He won the Williams Grove National Open. But nobody won the Kings Royal, so that's a race I really want to run well in, and this is where you get your notes and stuff. To win tonight, hopefully that means something for the next couple races in the next couple months."
Schuchart's win emerged from a field of 35 cars, a third of them Ohio natives. But the night went to the Outlaws. Following Schuchart into Victory Lane were fellow Outlaws Stewart and Brad Sweet. Quicktime went to Outlaw Jason Sides, the very first driver to qualify. Three of the four heat races went to Outlaws - the fourth going to Aliquippa, PA-native Tim Shaffer. The Dash went to Outlaw Jason Johnson. And all four that transfered from the Last Chance Showdown were Outlaws as well, with Kraig Kinser in the lead.
Meanwhile, Alvada, OH-native Chad Kemenah, who came in second on both nights of last year's #LetsRaceTwo, failed to make the Feature. And last year's winner, Kerry Madsen, was noticeably absent.
Initally, it was looking like a pretty good day for Jason Johnson, who started the Feature on the pole after winning the Craftsman Club Dash, which he also started on the pole after a full-field inversion stemming from a Dash draw of eight. But Stewart managed to steal Johnson's lead in lap seven, after which Johnson fell back and was overtaken by Sweet and points leader Donny Schatz, who had worked their way up from positions nine and seven respectively.
After qualifying in third and winning Heat 3, Schuchart started the Feature in the third row (fifth position) and jumped to third at the onset of the race. But when Stewart stole the lead from Johnson, the battle between Stewart and Schuchart was on. In lap nine, Schuchart finally took the lead from the JJR-Marshall 41, only to lose it again on a restart after a red flag on Ohio natives Trevor Philo and Jac Haudenschild, who collided outside turn one when Philo bounced off the wall. Three laps later, Schuchart took back his lead and held it through the checkers.
It was a night of celebration for Shark Racing, but not so much for Philo and J Haudenschild, who were both transported to a local hospital for further examination. Haudenschild, an Eldora veteran with six World of Outlaws wins and five USAC wins at the track, was there with his son and rookie Outlaw, Sheldon. According to a tweet from Haudenschild Racing, "Sheldon spoke to Jac, he's ready to leave the hospital and is insistent on racing tomorrow."
The World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series returns to Eldora Speedway again on Saturday, May 13 for night two of #LetsRaceTwo.

RACE NOTES: Logan Schuchart battled Shane Stewart for his first Eldora Speedway win on night one of #LetsRaceTwo Friday night, marking his fourth career World of Outlaws win. Stewart, who had the most recent World of Outlaws win at Eldora after taking the checkers at the 2016 Four Crown Nationals last September, took the lead from Jason Johnson in lap 7 and battled Schuchart through the next five laps, losing the lead in lap 9, and again in 12 to follow Schuchart to the checkers with Brad Sweet behind him.

Donny Schatz wins Outlaws return to 81 Speedway to score eighth victory of the season

PARK City, KS.- May 7, 2017 - Quite a bit has changed over the last 11 years since the last Donny Schatz had raced at 81 Speedway, prior to Saturday night. The track surface was reconfigured before this season, while the tires and wings on the cars have also changed over the last decade. One things that didn't change was the end result as he won for the second straight time at the three-eights-mile as the Outlaws returned to 81 Speedway for the Kansas Outlaw Klassic presented by Great Clips, Murphy Tractor and the City of Park City, Kansas.
Schatz's second consecutive win at 81 Speedway had extra meaning, as his crew chief Ricky Warner and his wife, have family members from the area, who are involved with the operations at 81 Speedway.
"This is like a hometown win for Rick and Danele Warner," said Schatz. "Rick has been with me a long time and we have won a lot of races together. The last time we were here, we won and were fortunate to get here again tonight. It was a great crowd tonight and it's great to see all of the enthusiasm here. It's incredible to be standing here in front of them winning."
Schatz started on the pole and led all 30 laps, but had a very close call, after some contact, when a pair of lapped cars got together right in front of him on the 18th lap. Despite sustaining some damage to his machine, the North Dakota native was able to lead flag-to-flag.
"The (No.) 4 car stopped and I got into him there," noted Schatz. "I thought I was going over and when I got away from him I could steer, but I knew something was bent in the front. It obviously bent the front axle, but it didn't really hurt me much. It might have actually helped me."
On the double file restart, which was the only restart of the 30-lap main event, Schatz chose the low side of the three-eighths-mile, with Jason Johnson lined up beside him. A strong restart propelled Schatz as Johnson, David Gravel and Daryn Pittman all battled for second.
"We just had the car rolling and are trying a lot of funky things right now and there are a lot of weird pieces on this race car, but we are learning," explained Schatz. "Sometimes you pay the price and April was that time, so May is going a lot better."
Pittman used a last lap pass of Gravel to earn his second consecutive runner-up finish, as he continues to close in on his first win of the season in the Great Clips, No. 9 for Kasey Kahne Racing. Pittman started second and looked on the low side of the track a couple of times in the early going as he kept pace with Schatz.
"We are bringing better race cars to the track," said Pittman. "Eric Prutzman is making great changes as the night goes on. Getting in the dash has been huge with the extra track time. Most of the headway we have made with our race cars the last two nights has been in the dash. That's really been key. When the car is faster, it's a lot more fun to drive."
Pittman started second and kept pace with Schatz for the first few laps, before losing a couple of positions. Late in the race he had an entertaining battle with Gravel and Johnson for the runner-up position.
"We had to fight hard for that one," shared Pittman. "We fell back to fourth and got by Jason (Johnson) after the yellow. (David) Gravel got caught up by a few lapped cars and we were able to get back by him coming to the checkers. It was a good finish and a good weekend for us."
Gravel continued his strong season by picking up his 13th top-five finish of the season, with a third-place finish. The Connecticut native ran as high as second in the late going and was keeping up with Schatz in open track, before having some trouble getting by slower cars.
"Lapped cars were pretty tough, they were running pretty high and made it pretty difficult," said Gravel. "It was hard to tell where they were going to go. Daryn (Pittman) got by me, but I think we had a second-place car. I just wish we could have qualified a little better to get in the dash and get another shot at the race track. If we had started on the front two rows, I think we could have gotten the win. We'll take our podium and move on to the next race."
Johnson finished fourth, with Brad Sweet in fifth. Shane Stewart worked his way from the 16th starting spot to finish sixth. Logan Schuchart was seventh, with Aaron Reutzel eighth, Jason Sides ninth and rookie Brent Marks 10th.
The World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series returns to action at the famed Eldora Speedway in Ohio on Friday, May 12 and Saturday, May 13.

Lucky Seven: Donny Schatz wins at Missouri State Fair Speedway to score seventh win of season

SEDALIA, Mo.-May 5, 2017-Missouri State Fair Speedway has always been a special place for eight-time and defending World of Outlaws Craftsman® Sprint Car Series champion Donny Schatz. He made his first start with the series back in 1993 as a teenager at the historic track.
Schatz returned to the half-mile on Friday night, as the Outlaws visited the track for the first time since 2012 and was victorious in the Sedalia Show-Me State Showdown to earn his third-career win at Missouri State Fair Speedway and his seventh of the season aboard the Arctic Cat/Ford Performance J&J for Tony Stewart Racing.
"This is extra special, with this being the first place I ran at," said Schatz. "We had Mark Miller from Artic Cat here and this is kind of his home track. He had a premonition that we were going to have a good night and I'm glad he had that premonition."
Schatz started third and got around Joey Saldana for second on the seventh lap. He then began to close on leader Daryn Pittman as the lead duo negotiated lapped traffic. Schatz made his move on the low side of the back straightaway to take the top spot on lap-11.
Once out front, Schatz began to pull away. After the taking the white flag, the only caution of the 25-lap main event flew, setting up a green-white-checker finish with Schatz in the lead and Kerry Madsen lining up second. Schatz used a strong restart to pull away en route to the win.
"I was actually looking for the car that was stopped, but it wasn't stopped," said Schatz of the caution. "That's the way it goes sometimes and those breaks sometimes go your way. Our car was awesome. April really didn't show it, but April is over. That's what racing is about. You'll have some good days and you are going to have a lot of bad ones. Today was one of the good ones. We just keep digging and finding ways to make the race car faster. Hats off to them, they are on their game and they got us a win tonight."
The win for Schatz snapped a month-plus win drought, dating back to March 18 at Thunderbowl Raceway in California. He used traffic to his advantage and managed tire wear as well on his way to the $10,000 triumph. With the first 24 laps going non-stop, Schatz was in his comfort zone on the long green-flag run.
"You don't really ever bide your time," explained Schatz. "You have to be smart with your tires. This is a high speed track and it's pretty easy the fine line between stuck (to the track) and spinning (your tires). When I rolled across the scales, I saw the other cars around me and I saw their tires were really blistered. Mine looked good, so I guess that means I did my job at the right parts of the race. Early on, when you have all that fuel, they are not a lot of fun to drive. You have to be cautious and search out the race track and see what happens."
Pittman, who led the first 10 laps, after starting on the pole, finished a season-best second, as he continues to close in on his first win of the season. In open track in the early going, Pittman pulled away from Joey Saldana and had couple-second lead in the first six laps.
"It did feel good to run up front," said Pittman. "These guys are really working hard. It's been a struggle this year and I have a great group of guys and I am really proud to be a part of this team. There is no doubt we'll get that win and we keep getting better. We made a lot of headway and had a pretty solid car all night long. If we are going to beat the 15 car and some of these guys consistently, we still have some work to do. We'll get this Great Clips car to victory lane and it will be fun when we do."
Kerry Madsen lined up second for the green-white-checker restart and ended up in third, after Pittman used a strong restart to get around him. Madsen lined up fifth at the start of the 25-lap main event
"I was going for the win," said Madsen of his strategy on the restart. "I tried that low-middle there and feed off Donny's right rear on the restart. I should have done the opposite and fed off the left rear and gotten better grip. I went to attack and wasn't close enough to attack and got attacked. It was a fun race and our car was a rocket ship."
Joey Saldana, who ran second early in the race, ended up fourth. Brian Brown, who hails from Grain Valley, Mo., finished fifth. Jason Johnson, who now calls Missouri home was sixth, followed by Brad Sweet in seventh, Danny Lasoski, another Missouri native in eighth, David Gravel in ninth and Kraig Kinser rounded out the top-10.
The World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series returns to action on Saturday, May 6 at 81 Speedway in Park City, Kansas. The Kansas Outlaw Klassic presented by Great Clips, Murphy Tractor & Equipment Co and the City of Park City, Kansas marks the series' first visit to 81 Speedway since 2006.

BECHTELSVILLE, PA (May 5, 2017) – Backyard barbecues and Big Block vs. Small Block Modifieds highlight an exciting weekend for area race fans as the NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series kicks off their 28th season of racing action on Sunday, May 28 with the Pioneer Pole Buildings Triple Thunder Thriller event at Grandview Speedway in Bechtelsville, PA.
With a 7:30 PM start time, the Triple Thunder Thriller includes three exciting stock car racing divisions competing on the Berks County dirt track with a $5,000-to-win (for pre-entered competitors), 40-lap main event featuring the Big Block vs. Small Block Dirt Modifieds.
A lucrative payday for pre-entered drivers -- $1,000 for 10th, and $500 to start -- has enticed competitors from all over the east coast including Pennsylvania drivers Craig Von Dohren and Duane Howard; New Jersey’s father-son duo of Billy Pauch Sr. and Billy Pauch Jr.; and New York’s Lebanon Valley Speedway regular Keith Flach.

The Pioneer Pole Buildings Mobile Sales Unit will be on display in the mid-way along with all of the Thunder on the Hill Racing Series mainstay promotions including the Low Down & Dirty Radio Show pre-race Meet and Greet, pit area tours, the Inside/Out Experience – where fans can watch hot laps from the infield, take a ride in the Eli’s Auto World Pace Truck, see Joe ‘The Pizza Dude’ offering up free pizzas to the rowdiest fans, give-a-ways, and appearances by Miss Thunder on the Hill, Lauren Fischer.
Helping to celebrate the Memorial Day Weekend will be a special fireworks display on the parade lap to start the $5,000 to win modified feature event.
Spectator gates will open at 5 PM, with racing action set for 7:30 PM. Adult General Admission is $25, Children 6-11 are $10, and Children 5 and Under are Free of Charge. RICK STIEF MASTERS THE FIELD TO WIN FIRST EVER MID-ATLANTIC SPRINT SERIES EVENT

Rick Stief of Garnet Valley, PA scored his second career Racesaver 305 Sprint Car victory on Sunday night at Bridgeport Speedway. Stief started fourth and took the lead on lap fourteen after early race leader Ryan Stillwaggon had an engine expire while maintaining over a straightaway gap on Stief and the rest of the field. Stief then won the twenty lap feature event over Tim Tanner, Tommy Carberry, Mark Bitner, and Dave Brown Jr who rounded out the top five.
“I honestly had no idea that I was leading the race until I took the checkered flag and looked over at the scoreboard,” Rick admitted post race. “I knew I was catching Ryan, but I was pretty focused on maneuvering the lapped traffic I had in front of me, so I had no idea. But I’m glad that I was finally able to win one this way, instead of losing one this way”.
Nineteen MASS 305 Sprint Cars signed in at the back gate on Sunday for their first ever event as a newly sanctioned series. Two heat races, which were sponsored by Competition Suspension Inc. (CSI Shocks) and Freiberger Excavating, were won by Mark Bitner and Dave Brown Jr. Both received $50 cash for their victories.
At the start of the twenty lap Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series feature, Tim Tanner and Ryan Stillwaggon started on the pole, with Stillwaggon claiming the top spot after a lap long side-by-side battle with Tanner. After an early race caution displayed for rookie Doug Snow who spun in turn 2, the green flag waved once again with Stillwaggon resuming the commanding position, followed by Tanner, Carberry who gained a spot on the restart, Stief and Jamie Kostic.
“When we got out front, I just wanted to stay smooth and keep the car straight,” Stillwaggon said. “We tried some new stuff on the car this week and it just worked!”
At the halfway mark, Stillwaggon, who was maintaining a blistering pace over Stief who was gaining positions himself, reached heavy lapped traffic. On lap fourteen, Stillwaggon’s campaign for the win came to a halt when engine failure seized his Quality Auto Body number 11.
“As I got to lapped traffic, I could really just go wherever the lapped cars didn’t because the car felt that good,” said Stillwaggon. “The motor started to lose oil pressure and soon enough that was the end of the night for us. I hope we caught it early though, but I’m not really sure.”
Inheriting the front running position unknowingly due to no caution being brought out, Stief continued to master lapped traffic for six more circuits while holding almost more than a half a track distance between his lightning fast Churches Speed #9s and the second place car of Tim Tanner.
“I raced three times this past weekend, and I finished in the top five all three nights, so this win ended my weekend on a great note I’d have to say,” mentioned Stief. “I’m going to be racing with both the PA Sprint Series as well as with MASS when my schedule allows but I just enjoy being able to travel around to different tracks and racing with these great group of people. The new management of the Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series are a passionate group of people who enjoy our sport, and I think I can speak for most people when I say that their efforts are appreciated and I look forward to what this season has to bring”.
Stief, who has been running full-sized Sprint Cars since 2012 credits his top finishes this weekend to the support he has from his sponsors which are Churches Speed & Auto Parts, K&S Seal Coating, All Seasons Glass Tinting, SEK Telcom and his dedicated crew member, Chas Vitable.

Trey Starks earns Roy Morral Tribute for first ever Arctic Cat All Star victory
BEDFORD, PA (April 30, 2017) - For the first time in his young career, Trey Starks is an Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions main event winner, outrunning Dale Blaney and Lucas Wolfe for the Roy Morral Tribute title at the Bedford Fairgrounds Speedway in Bedford, Pennsylvania. Starks, pilot of the Scott Gobrecht-owned/Textron Off Road/No. 44, took command officially on lap three and never looked back, crossing under the final checkers 2.2 seconds ahead of the competition. The $5,000 victory was Starks’ first in Central Pennsylvania.

“I don’t even know what to say right now. This is amazing,” Trey Starks said in victory lane. “This is such a humbling sport. We finished 18th last night at Lincoln Speedway, and now we are in victory lane with the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions. This is a dream come true.”
Pole sitter Lucas Wolfe and New Castle, Indiana’s Caleb Armstrong led the 26 starters to green on Sunday night at Bedford Speedway. Wolfe grabbed the early advantage and led the first two circuits before the main event’s first caution appeared on lap three. It was on the restart when Trey Starks made his bid for the top spot, driving under Lucas Wolfe to officially take command for the first time.
A pair of cautions on lap six, one of which resulting in red flag conditions, halted the field once again, but neither created any distraction for Starks. The Puyallup, Washington, native brought the field back to life and returned to a demanding lead, eventually reaching the tail of the field just before the midpoint of the 25-lap program.
While Starks ran away in traffic, a battle for the second position soon commenced between Lucas Wolfe and Dale Blaney. Blaney, who started sixth on the main event grid, chased Wolfe nearly nose-to-tail in traffic for five circuits, eventually taking away the runner-up spot on lap 20. Despite Blaney’s attempt to chase down the top spot, Starks’ lead had increased to nearly four seconds, only cutting the advantage to just over two seconds by the time the final checkers flew. Lucas Wolfe held on to finish third aboard the Mike Barshinger-owned/No. 24, followed by Tim Shaffer and Johnstown’s Dan Shetler.
“When you’re out in front like that, especially ahead of a guy like Dale Blaney, every move in traffic is probably the wrong move,” Trey Starks explained. “I was just trying to get through traffic as quickly as I could. We’ve been having such a tough start to the year. I’m so glad to get one for my team.”
With three rounds of Central Pennsylvania competition complete, the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions will move forward and continue their 2017 campaign with a return to The Keystone State, this time spending a weekend on the western edge of Pennsylvania with visits to Lernerville Speedway and Mercer Raceway Park on Friday and Saturday, May 5-6, respectively. “America’s Series” will visit Lernerville Speedway and Mercer Raceway Park only once in 2017, each awarding $5,000 top prizes.

About the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions:
All Star Enterprises, LLC, wholly owned by Tony Stewart, d/b/a the All Star Circuit of Champions, is a winged sprint car series. The All-Star Circuit of Champions Sprint Car Series is one of the oldest traveling 410 sprint car organizations and is a staple of grassroots, open-wheel racing. Formed in 1970 by Bud Miller, the series has largely been considered the first 'outlaw' Sprint Car organization of the modern era. After a 10 year stint as owner of the All Stars, Miller passed control of the series to Bert Emick in 1980; a reign that would continue through 2002. Guy Webb then purchased the series from Emick in the summer of 2002 and served as the series President for the next 12 years. Motorsports entrepreneur Tony Stewart agreed to terms with Guy Webb to become the sole owner of the original winged sprint car tour in January of 2015.
