Outlaws Season Kicks Off Friday

Daytona Int’l Speedway isn’t the only race track hosting season openers this week.  Volusia Speedway Park in nearby Barberville will also participate in Florida Speedweeks by hosting the 38th Annual Alltel DIRTcar Nationals, officially kicking off the 76-race World of Outlaws sprint car season.

The sprints will compete in three nights of racing, the first being on Friday, Feb. 6, with each winner taking home $10,000 from a total purse of over $150,000.

There have been no repeat winners in the eleven Outlaws sprint events held at the half-mile dirt oval.  Craig Dollansky, Jason Meyers, and Danny Lasoski were the winners last year.  Donny Schatz is the defending Outlaws series champion.
