13TH ANNUAL DIRT TRACK HEROES CAR SHOW TO MOVE TO PALMER PARK MALL IN EASTON, PA, MARCH 6 TO MARCH 8

It is with great disappointment that after twelve successful years, The Dirt Track Heroes Car Show will not be returning to the Phillipsburg Mall in Phillipsburg, NJ.

Two days before Christmas, the Phillipsburg Mall merchants were notified that they need to vacate the property, and the Mall will be closing.

"It is a disappointment, but not a surprise as the activity at the Mall has seen a decline over the past two years," commented event organizer Bob Miller. "I learned of the closing at the same time the merchants were notified."

"We had dates and an unsigned contract for the 2020 show since May 2019 and intentionally did not announce the 2020 show dates in anticipation of the disappointing decision."

The show organizers contacted the Palmer Park Mall in October as a contingency plan, and they are welcoming this event with open arms.

The Palmer Park Mall is located in Easton, PA, at the intersection of Route 248 and Park Avenue, just off route 22/78. It is a single-story mall, with 457,743 square feet of shopping. The Palmer Park Mall is somewhat smaller than the Phillipsburg Mall, so those wishing to be part of the show should enter early. The Dirt Track Heroes Show will be utilizing the former BON TON Store as well as much of the Mall walk area.

Race cars, tracks, and organizations are all welcome to be part of the show, and vendors are welcome as well. Please contact Event Organizer Justin Beltrame at 484 772 7184 for entry details.

Move-In will take place on Thursday night, March 5, at 9 PM. The show will run all day Friday, Saturday, and Sunday with cars and displays moving out at 6 PM on March 8.

We do wish to thank the staff and ownership of the Phillipsburg Mall. They were great friends to the show, and we enjoyed a great working relationship, especially with the security team who went out of their way every year to make us feel welcome and accommodate all our needs.

More details will be provided shortly.

The show continues to be FREE of charge to the mall traffic and the 2019 edition of the show is the trend setter and show stopper of the many shows that are scheduled during the year.

The Quarter Midget stars arrived rarin’ to go to kick-off the show.. Emcee Justin Beltrame opened the show and introduced IRCO Vice President Greg Collins to the crowd. Collins once thanked the local racing community for their support and talked of the various offerings from the IRCO group and added the Tuesday night portion of the show is one of his favorite nights as he truly enjoys the answers and conversations the announcers are able to extract from the young stars, as some were giving their first ever interviews and through the quickly paced show were able to get the racing families on their way back home. Quarter Midget graduate and former USAC National Champion, Anthony “Chops” Chrobak, addressed the young stars with his thoughts of how he transitioned from the quarter-midgets to the next step of his career with a fourth place finish in points one season ago in the 270 Sprints and of his securing two wins in three races in the Stage One Modified Series. Anthony will be a regular in 2019 in a Stage One Modified race car at the Hamlin Speedway.

Justin Beltrame interviewed an energetic group of young driving stars from the area and without question once again proved the future of auto racing is in great hands with the drivers and the generous support of their families. The Quarter Midgets are a great way to begin the careers of the budding young drivers and many graduates of Quarter Midget racing have gone on to great racing careers in the sport and many of the drivers interviewed felt they would race the Quarter Midgets until their age requirements expire and then make the transition into one of the many offerings available in racing and the answers given would make all of us believe all of the speedways in the area will benefit from the early education these young stars acquire for their racing endeavors.

Drivers on hand included former USAC National Champion Anthony Chrobak, Jacob Bierman, Peyton Knecht, Louie Horavath, Charles Horvath, Cheyenne Breidenstein and McKenzie Smith.

The Wednesday evening show will be highlighting Hamlin Speedway, Snydersville Speedway, Accord Speedway and Orange County Fair Speedway and sponsored by Smith Fabrications/Stage One Modifieds and Hamlin/S&S Speedways.

The great fan base of racing can come out to this grand Mall event and be transported back to a time when they could hop into their family jitney and travel less than a half hour to witness the excitement of a night at the races.

After a short chat, they introduced the new shoe emcee and coordinator Justin Beltrame and he took over, introducing the drivers who were able to attend the show, as an impending storm kept cars and drivers away. Jeff's Automotive and Upstate Auto were the first day event sponsors and Bertrame graciously thanked all of the sponsors, drivers and fans for their loyalty and support of the show and for their dedication and love for racing. Beltrame followed by introducing IRCO Vice President Greg Collins to the crowd. Collins thanked the local racing community for their support and talked about how the show came together twelve years ago with the show staff who remain still on board with the show and both individuals thanks the Pados Brothers for their dedication to the show. Ed Pados gave an emotional prayer to the many drivers or racing people who have passed on in the last year and the show proceeded with the driver interview session. Representative Susan was on hand as the Dirt Track Heroes event has lent their support to the St John Angels Relay for Life Team through the American Cancer Society.

A great panel of driving legends were on hand, with former Nazareth Speedway, Nazareth National Speedway and Dorney Park drivers on board for the show and all had fun trading stories back and forth with the honoree Richie Smith. Drivers and personalities taking part included, Gerry and Vicki Robison, Bill Tanzosh, Tighe Scott, George Wambold, Deb Smith, Bob Snyder and Jack Kromer. The show was quick moving with plenty of great stories and plenty of laughs from the drivers on hand to honor Richie Smith and racing personalities were among those in the audience including two new members of his racing series Mark Evans and Anthony Chrobak.

The great fan base of racing can come out to this grand Mall event and be transported back to a time when they could hop into their family jitney and travel less than a half hour to witness the excitement of a night at the races. All historical racing groups including Flemington, Tri State, Reading, Harmony through Greg Collins, Remembering Nazareth, Bob Snyder Photos and Snyder Video, Mike Ritter Photos, Mocatek Memories through Justin Beltrame and Wayne Sayer have their memorabilia on display and their many scrapbooks open for the fans to take another long look at the glory years of racing and possibly find a picture or two they want to purchase as a keepsake from past glory or racing exploits. More information is available regarding the show by calling: 443-513-4456.

On display at the Mall include big and small block Modifieds, Sportsman, Micro-Sprints, Midgets, 360 and 410 Sprints, 305 Sprints, Wingless Sprints, Late Models, go-karts, quarter midgets and a broad variety of vintage and restored race cars and drag racing cars. Hamlin, Snydersville, Mahoning, New Egypt, Grandview, Big Diamond, Bridgeport and Accord, are among the many speedways involved with the 2019 show. The week-long event will set aside one evening to salute the "Stars of Tomorrow" with a special night set aside for the budding young racing talents competing with the many quarter midget clubs in the area and this night has proven to be one of the highlights of the week as many will be giving their first ever interviews to a sizable crowd.

Monday night, March 4th, will feature a salute to the men behind the lens as photographers, announcers and writers from racing gather in a round table discussion to chat about their favorite racing stories, with the evening sponsored by A.R.M Automotive in Bangor and Joe’s Garage located in Nazareth, Pennsylvania.

The Quaker Steak and Lube Dirt Track Heroes Car Show has a must have event T-shirt done exclusively for the show. The great keepsake 60-page event souvenir program book has many great articles and pictures regarding our racing heroes. The Phillipsburg Mall is open Sunday 11 AM to 6 PM and from Monday through Saturday from 10 AM to 9 PM.
