Microstocks Double-header at Wall Stadium

By
Wall Stadium

WALL TOWNSHIP, NJ- Normally the Microstock racers usually race on Sundays. This weekend the Microstocks were given a chance to shine in front of a full grandstand Saturday night as well.

The Microstock feature race was a combination of two types of Microstocks; the World Formula Tour Microstocks and the Modified Microstocks (who run on Sundays at Wall Stadium). The Modified Microstocks wore red streamers to separate the two classes.

In the heat race, Tom Ervin came from the rear of the field to win the top spot for the Modified Microstocks and Robin Ervin, who drew pole position, won a side by side battle with Tommy Kosch to win the top spot for the World Formula Microstocks.

In the feature race, Tom Ervin blasted his way to the front to win the Modified Microstock feature win. Way behind him, Robin Ervin and Tommy Kosch battled for the top spot in World Formula. R. Ervin held the lead for 3/4 of the race until she hit a patch of sand and got a bit loose. This allowed Kosch to make the pass for the lead. Kosch went on to win the Feature race for the World Formula class of Microstocks.

The final order of finish in both divisions: Modifieds- Tom Ervin, John Kazmierski, Andrew Shuster; World Formula Tour- Tommy Kosch, Robin Ervin, Marty Kendall, A. Bailey, Kenny Lund, B. Richard.

Modified Outlaw Micro Stocks at Wall Stadium

WALL TOWNSHIP, NJ - Tom Ervin won the Modified Outlaw Microstock feature Sunday at Wall Stadium.

Ervin took the lead with a great start at the drop of the green with H. Burd right behind him. Three laps later Ervin had opened up a three-car gap over H.Burd. Ervin’s lead steadily increased as the laps clicked away until halfway when H. Burd got loose and spun in turns three and four while running second.

This bunched up the field once more. On the restart J. Burd lined up outside of Ervin with his father H.Burd behind his son. Ervin took the lead once more but this time the Burds, who teamed up nose to tail, stayed close behind Ervin. With two laps to go, Ervin was able to open a three-car lead as the Burds raced side by side for second position. Seconds after Ervin took the checkered flag, J. Burd out dueled his father H. Burd to take the second spot by a nose.

Final order of finish: Tom Ervin, Jason Burd, Harry Burd Andrew Shuster

M.O.M. races again on August 12th at Wall Stadium. There is no club fee to race with M.O.M., and all Modified Micro Stock drivers are welcome to compete.
