TONY STEWART TOPS FORTY-SEVEN CAR FIELD IN URC/PATRIOT 360 SPRINT CHALLENGE FRIDAY NIGHT AT BLACK ROCK SPEEDWAY

DUNDEE, NY . . . . . Black Rock Speedway Promoter Dean Hoag defied Mother Nature and every weather forecast during the day and successfully completed the URC/Patriot 360 Sprint Challenge with NASCAR star Tony Stewart taking the victory. With a greater then 70% chance of rain all day, Hoag beat all odds to present a thrilling show for the fans. A strong field of forty-seven sprints cars took part in the co-sanctioned United Racing Company and Patriot Sprint Tour event. Tony Stewart drew the pole starting position in the 25 lap feature event but failed to lead every lap. Oley, PA driver Randy “the wild, wild, West” took the lead from Stewart at the start of the event and held the lead for the first seven laps. After two lead changes on lap eight, Stewart took the top spot and went on to victory, collecting $4,000 for the victory

Five heat race event were necessary to determine the starting line-up with victories going to Tony Stewart, Chuck Hebing, Randy West and Jason Barney as the twin “B” Main events were won by Josh Weller and Glenn Styres. The Original Pizza Logs Cash Dash was won by Don Adamczk.

The 25 lap Rislone URC Sprint Series feature event saw Tony Stewart draw the pole starting position to start the main event. URC driver Randy West was not intimidated by the NASCAR Champion and wrestled the lead from Stewart at the drop of the green flag. West quickly pulled away from Stewart and the rest of the field to hold a comfortable lead, at least for the short term.

Chuck Hebing brought out the first caution on lap three when his sprinter came to a stop in turn four. On the restart, West mastered the track with Stewart in second and Jason Blarney third. Stewart began to reel in West and the stage was set for a battle. On lap eight, West and Stewart exchanged the lead three times before Stewart finally kept the top spot to lead lap eight. West followed in second with Barney third.

Stewart ran to hide from the rest of the field and West now had to deal with Barney and Davie “no panic” Franek as they challenged for second. Bobby Breen, winner of the spring URC/Patriot Challenge was fifth.

By lap twenty, Breen was now in third and challenging West for the runner-up spot. On lap twenty-one, Breen spun down the backstretch, bringing out the caution for the final time of this event. With lightening flashing in the sky, the race restarted with West taking his last shot at the lead. Stewart was not going to allow that to happen as he remained the leader and went on to score his second consecutive Rislone URC Sprint Series feature win. Randy West finished second followed by Jason Barney, Davie Franek and Justin Barger.

25 LAP FEATURE FINISH: $4,000 Tony Stewart, Randy West, Jason Barney, Davie Franek, Justin Barger, Tommy Wickam, Dylan Swienik, Ed Aikin, Scott Kreutter, Don Ademczyk, George Suprick, Bryan Howland, Josh Weller, Kevin Darling, Art Liedl, Tracy Potter, Chad Trout, Ryan Linder, Dan Mazy, Patrick Vigneault, Bobby Breen, Chuck Hebing, Jonathan Swanson, Kramer Williamson, Glenn Styres.
