First year racer wows Microstock world.

By

WALL TOWNSHIP,NJ- 15 year old Dalton Rovira has taken the Microstock world by storm this year in his six-month long rookie year. This was not just his rookie year in Microstocks but in his racing career as well.

Since June, Rovira has raced at Mahoning Speedway, Borger’s Speedway, Shelhammer Speedway, Wall Stadium and everywhere else Microstocks run in the PA, New Jersey, NY area. In the beginning, drivers scratched their heads in amazment after being beaten by the swift #17 car and stated “Where did he come from? “ or “Who is he?” Now as the season ends, seeing Rovira at the front of the field has become a common sight and he is now talked about as a favorite to win everytime he climbs into a Microstock.

He has developed a reputation as a clean, hard racer with a deft hand behind the wheel. When asked how many wins he’s had total this season. Rovira thought for a minute and modestly said, “Oh, I don’t know. I had a couple at Wall (Stadium) and three at Borger’s Speedway. I’m not sure how many I’ve won. I kinda lost track.”

That statement speaks volumes about the young man’s talent. Most racers in their first year ever of racing are happy to have contender for the lead once or twice during the year. Rovira has taken to racing like a duck takes to water. It will be interesting to see what the future was in store for this bashful, young man.
