Area Champions Awarded at Kutztown Firehouse at Checkered Flag Fan Club Banquet.

KUTZTOWN, PA. - December 1, 2012 ..
The 61st annual banquet was held Saturday night at the Kutztown Fire company honored racing champions from the 2012 racing season. The well-attended event brought together champions from all over the NY, NJ, PA area.

Special awards were also given out to those whose who made an impact in racing.

The prestigious Bob and Anne Poulson Awards were awarded to Randy and Denise Smith. The promoters of Hamlin Speedway for their efforts to keep the track alive.

The Award named in honor of legendary racer Tommy Hinnershitz was given to legendary ARDC driver Lee Earnshaw.

The Toby Tobias award was given to Bobby Brackston of Reading Speedway.

The Mechanic of the Year award was given to the twins Robert and Richard Yeltes. The mechanics who manned the wrenches for Earl Paules’s incredible winning season.

The award for most improved open wheel driver went to Jarid Kunkle. The most improved Stock driver was Brian Grim.

The Rookie of the year winners were of note not just because of their great seasons.

The Stock Rookie of the year was 13 year old Kyle Strol who opened a lot of eyes with his strong performances.

The Open Cockpit Rookie of the Year is Brett Warner had a winning season spoke volumes although he is totally deaf.

The Checkered Flag Fan Club is an organization that helps drivers who were injured through contributions by racers who donate money to the organization’s Driver Fund.
