POINT RACES TIGHT AS WALL STADIUM ENTERS SEPTEMBER

WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. -- The point races in all of Wall Stadium Speedway’s stock car racing divisions are tight as the third-mile paved oval enters the final month of regular season competition. This Saturday night’s (Sept. 5) pivotal racing card, featuring the Downs Ford Modifieds, the Snap-on Sportsman, the O’Shea’s Auto Repair Factory Stocks, the Elite Maintenance Limited Late Models and the Green Monster Insulation 4 Cylinder Stocks, will see qualifying begin at 5:30 p.m. and main event racing will follow.
In the Modified ranks Jackson’s Steven Reed is at the top of the point rankings as he seeks his first ever crown. Still, Reed’s brother in law, Freehold’s Chas Okerson, is just ten markers behind. Howell’s Eric Mauriello and Brick’s Ron Frees are also within striking distance. The Modifieds are set for a 40-lap main event Saturday night.
The Limited Late Models and the 4 Cylinder Stocks are set for 40-lap and 30-lap feature races, respectively. In the Limited Late Models Port Monmouth’s Anthony Crimaldi and former champs Brian Doyle of Ronkonkoma, N.Y. and Jackson’s Howie Conk are knotted at the top of the points pile. In the 4 Cylinder Stocks Ronnie Mullen and Jason Lane, both of Brick, and Wall’s TJ Graves are the top drivers.
Andrew Krause of Holmdel, defending champion Kevin Davison and Chris Lane, both of Howell, are at the top of the Sportsman chase as they prepare for a 25-lapper and Brick’s Joe Mongeau and Ronnie Mullen, Union’s Joey Helberg and Manchester’s Scott Riggleman lead Factory Stock points going into a 25-lapper.
Saturday’s schedule will see the competitor pit area open at 1:00 p.m. Regular practice will start at 3:00 p.m., while spectator seating will open at 5:00 p.m. Qualifying starts at 5:30 p.m. with main events to follow.
Weekly stock car racing will continue every Saturday night through September. The “Spooky Spectacular” is then set for Saturday October 24 and the annual “Turkey Derby” will be presented on Thanksgiving weekend.
