MID-ATLANTIC SPRINT SERIES KICKS OFF 2017 SEASON AT BRIDGEPORT SPEEDWAY
BRIDGEPORT, NJ

By ERIKA PALMAI WAGNER

The Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series will kick off their inaugural season at the “fastest dirt track in the east”, Bridgeport Speedway on Sunday, April 30th. The series, which hosts RacesaverⓇ 305 Sprint Cars in the Pennsylvania/New Jersey/Delaware region, has eight to ten tentative events scheduled at the South Jersey facility, which will be released on a final schedule set to come out at a later date.

“The staff at Bridgeport Speedway has always welcomed and showcased the 305 Sprint Cars in the past, so we are excited to have our first race of the season there, as well as many other BIG events that they have invited us to be apart of in 2017,” Eddie Wagner, Regional Director of MAS stated. “We are working hard to find and invite sponsors to be apart of our series in 2017, so that we can draw more cars to our races, while also giving back to the guys who support us week in and week out”.

Last season, the 305 Sprint Cars were a headlining division on one of the speedway’s experimental and highly successful nights - “Pack the House Night” where admittance was FREE to all fans in the grandstands, and under the new MAS banner, they will return to be apart of this highly anticipated event on Saturday, June 17th.

The management of the South Jersey based track has also invited the Mid-Atlantic Sprints to join the United Racing Club (URC) 360 Sprint Cars to co-headline in late October for the second running of the “Big Track Classic” which is a two day show.

Bridgeport Speedway, which is a 5/8 mile “super-speedway” located in Logan Township, NJ, is not only famous for its high speed side-by-side racing, but it’s beautiful facility is known to be family and fan friendly. In efforts to expand its growing fan base and product, the Speedway will now be offering racing on not two different race tracks, but three racetracks in 2017. In addition to the 1/4 mile inner oval , a 3/8 mile speedway is being built and is expected to be ready sometime in 2017.

“There is no timetable as to when the new track will be finished, but our goal is to have a race or two by the end of the summer of 2017,” General Manager Danny Serrano stated in an interview with AARN last week. “Along with some of the other open wheel competition that feel that the big track is too fast for their cars and the 1/4 mile too small, we’re hoping to create a balanced in-between option for the 305 Sprint Cars and the other divisions that will make great competitive three-wide racing for the fans and drivers.”

With a twenty-one (+) car field, $300 will be awarded to the feature winner, $250 going to second place, $200 for third and $150 will be paid out to all cars who take the green flag. $60 will be awarded as tow money for non-qualifiers. Contingency sponsors for events at Bridgeport are still being pursued, with Bitner’s Automotive signing on as the $25 “Quick Time” Award sponsor and Bruce’s Auto Body claiming sponsorship over the $25 “Hard Charger” Award. Todd's Performance is also giving a $25 gift certificate to a randomly placed driver that will be chosen each night.
