The premier racing facility in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, the Hamlin Speedway, once again showed how to get things done last evening with an exciting show in between rain drops that covered all of the hard work and dedication the Smith Family has placed into the facility. The tremendous racing season thus far in 2019 and the loyal fan base and talented roster of driving stars who converge at the speedway are appreciative of all of the hard work and determination that goes into preparing an exciting and fun-filled evening of racing. The racing action at the 1/5th mile clay-cushioned facility has been over the top with many outstanding driving personalities carving out their own claim to fame in weekly competition for age groups from 8 to 60 plus. Last night some new winners graced victory circle with some smiling faces all around. The racing was completed by 10:33 in the evening.

The 2019 season is eight weeks old and many special events have been already been completed but the heart of the racing schedule is still coming up in the next few weeks. Heading up the headlines for last evening’s show include RJ Sherman, who won the Junior Slingshot event in a wire to wire triumph, New York driving star Taylor Mills, who captured the All Star Slingshot win in great fashion and "Magic Shoes" Mike McLaughlin returning to action to score a big win in the Super Slingshot feature. Dennis Chamberlain won the JPA Masonry Rookie Wingless event and Joseph Smith who won over a quick field in the JPA Masonry Regular 600 Sprint main event. Tanner VanDohren captured the feature in the division for the Hampton RV & Trailer Sales Stage One Modifieds. Travis Fichter won the X-Cel Modified event after early leader of the event Geoff Sutton's machine let him down.

Joesph Smith grabbed the lead at the start of the JPA Masonry event and hustled out to a huge lead over Mack Brink, last week's winner Tyler Lindsay and track champion "The Travelin Man" Mick D'Agostino. The action that took place behind the Smith was engaging to say the least. Every turn and straightaway action was filled with excitement as the track was extremely racy as the drivers were able to race side by side for most of the event. Smith was the leader of the event and hit his marks around the speedway with precision excellence. Smith would claim the win with Brink, Lindsay and D'Agostino giving chase behind him in an exciting run for in second place. Dylan Martin was fifth with Cody Smith close behind him in sixth place. Noah Zielinski, Zack Weisenfluh, Michael Nolf followed the leaders.

In the Super Slinger action, Mike McLaughlin ran away and hid to go on and claim another win at the speedway. "The Fighting Irishman" John Gilroy would finish in the runner-up role and was the fastest car on the track as the laps closed down. Dle Kober would finish third while Allan Kober was fourth and solid Paul Ennes would finish in fifth place with Wes Hearn close behind him and Mark Exeter rounded out the finishers.

In the JPA Masonry Rookie 600 event, after being introduced to the crowd trackside, Dennis Chamblerlain began from a front row starting place and that and a big right foot would be all he needed to collect the gold on this evening. Carmen "Pops" Leggio was second with Tony Parlanti third, Jacob Eby fourth place and Michael Nolf was fifth. Richie Maguire headed up the second five with Kyle Ferrucci, Matt Brown, Rich Maguire, and Cody Powell.

The Amantea Real Estate Junior Slingshot event found RJ Sherman taking no prisoners as he charged forward as the green flag fell. Many battles were forming up behind him and it allowed Sherman to whisk away to another dimension. Aiden Donaldson, Doug Smith, Aiden Elliot and Charlene Benz were all part of the give and take behind Sherman. Kasey Hufcut, Chase Zimmer and Isabella Van Orden followed.

In the All Star Slingshot encounter, Taylor Mills blasted into the lead at the start of the event and held off all of the competition for the win. Shelby McLaughlin, hustled into runner-up honors with the returning Cody Kline residing in third place. Paul Ennes hustled hard to fourth place while Dale Kober was handling fifth place with ease. Wes Hearn continued his steady work for sixth place, with James Benz, Ashley Kober, Brian Smith and CJ Fritz rounding out the top ten.

In the event for the Stage One Modifieds, "TVD" Tanner Van Dohren outhustled Jeff Hineline at the start and left the field in his wake as he went on to win the event. Hineline was second with Anthony "Chops" Chrobak third and himself doing an admirable job in containing those behind him such as Adam Buchel, Amanda Buchel and Evan Civick.

The X-Cel Modifieds returned to action at Hamlin and Travis Fichter showed the field the fast way around the clay. He won a close battle over Kevin VanValkenburg.

Pearl Jams:

The track was racy from start to finish and Track Promoter Randy Smith contnued to work on the speedway as necessary for the activity on the speedway was non-stop throughout. Smith had an over the top track for all of the racing teams with the clay of the speedway so moist it pulled the shoes off of your feet when walking the track surface.

Cody Kline and Taylor Mills captured the heat wins in the All Star Slingshots last evening. Carmen Leggio, Michael Nolf and Tyler Lindsay won the Rookie 600 heats. The Junior Slingshot heat went to Aiden Elliot. In the Regular 600 Sprints, Mack Brink bested all comers and Alan Kober was tops in the Super Slinger heat. The Stage One Modified heat found Tanner VanDohren being victorious. Travis Fichter captured the heat win for the X-Cell Modifieds.

Announcer Steve Pados did another excellent job in announcing all of the rookie drivers to the crowd. Another highlight of the evening was to have senior citizens pick the numbers for the which the drivers involved were to start their event from.

Mike Enright captured the 50/50 deal last evening.

The Annual Vet Stock raffle tickets are up for sale with the first place prize of the Custom American/Checkered Flag, the second place prize of the Ruger 22 Caliber Rifle and a third place prize of $500.00 ready to whet your appetitie. The speedway is also seeking donations for the Hungarian Auction that will take place at the speedway on July 6th. With the event, a big 100-lap event will take place for the all Star Slingshots on this evening of speed and giving to our vets who make our freedom and our way of life possible.
