TURKEY DERBY XLVII AT WALL STADIUM KICKS OFF THIS SATURDAY (NOV. 21)

WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. ~ As has been the case with most allowed events nationwide during 2020, Wall Stadium Speedway's Turkey Derby XLVII will take on a new look as the three day event is contested over two weekends surrounding the Thanksgiving holiday. All three days' events will be presented during the daylight hours and advance tickets can be secured by calling 732-681-6400 or visiting wallspeedwayracing.com.

The three-day Turkey Derby will kick off this Saturday, Nov. 21, with the Wall/SK Modified stock cars battling in a 100-lap, $5,000 to win championship event. “Locals Saturday” will also feature the Sportsman racers in a 40-lap feature race and the Factory Stocks and 4 Cylinder Stocks in 30-lap main events. Grandstands will open at 11:00 a.m., with qualifying starting at noon and main events taking the green flag at 2:00 p.m.

The 100-lap Wall/SK Modified feature race should be a battle between local heroes and racing invaders. Wall favorites will include newly crowned champion Andrew Krause of Holmdel and top point earners Steven Reed of Jackson and Ron Frees of Lanoka Harbor. 2020 feature winners Eddie McCarthy of Brick, Derek Hopkinson of Toms River and Blake Barney of Jackson are other local heroes expected to be in the field.

Fellow 2020 winners Jimmy Blewett of Howell, Matawan's Anthony Sesely and Wall's Jack Ely can be called Turkey Derby weekend invaders and they are expected to be joined by many others.

Day two of Turkey Derby 2020 will then take to the track on Friday, Nov. 27 with the Dirt Modified style cars competing in a 50-lap, $1,800 to win main event and the Factory Stocks battling in a 100-lap, $1,000 to win main event, the Legend Cars in a 40-lapper and the 4 Cylinder Stocks in a 30-lapper. Grandstands will open at 11:00 a.m., with qualifying starting at noon and main events taking the green flag at 2:00 p.m.

The final day of Turkey Derby XLVII will headline the Tour Type Modified stock cars battling for $6,000 to win in a 150-lap championship event. The Limited Late Models are set for a 50-lapper on Saturday and the TQ Midgets round out the action in a 30-lapper. Again, grandstands will open at 11:00 a.m., with qualifying starting at noon and main events taking the green flag at 2:00 p.m.

In the event of bad weather during any of the three days, Sunday, Nov. 29 , will serve as a rain date.
