REED GRABS MODIFIED WIN, MONGEAU AND ALCARO SWEEP TWINS AT WALL SATURDAY

WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. ~ Two-time former driving champion Steven Reed of Jackson turned around a season of bad fortunes to win the 40-lap Pete and Elda's Bar/Carmen's Pizzeria Modified stock car race at Wall Stadium Speedway Saturday night. It was Reed's 30th career win in the All American Auto Group Racing Series.

Young Joey Merlino of Pine Hill was the first leader of the contest as Reed and a host of others charged to the front from mid-pack. Jason Treat of Jackson was the first to arrive and took the lead with an outside lane pass on lap nine. Treat's strong Run only lasted four laps, however, as his race car suddenly shut off on the front stretch sending his competitors scrambling to avoid him. Merlino then regained the lead, but that lasted only moments as he was forced to pit with a flat tire.

By this time Holmdel's Andrew Krause and Reed had completed their runs to the front and lined up side-by-side for the restart. Using the outside lane Reed was able to power to the front and then raced home to win. Krause was the runner-up, while point leader Jimmy Blewett of Howell was third. Freehold's Chas Okerson and Roger Coss wrapped up the top five.

“Finally,” Reed said upon exiting his car in the winner's circle. “You know, I really have to thank my grandmother for her support. Even when we were having all that trouble, she is here every race and always offering support. Have to thank my wife, my mother, my father and everyone who helps! This is a real team sport and family sport. Dennis Freese and George Andretta were also big in getting this new car together.”

Shanon Mongeau of Manchester continued his perfect season with two victories in twin Mike's Performance Center Limited Late Model main events. In the first 25-lapper Joe Mongeau of Brick was the runner-up, while Bayville's Mike Tillett, Dom Casola of Holmdel and Harry Schaeffer of Carteret wrapped up the top five. In the second 25-lapper Shanon Mongeau made it eight wins in eight starts, while Tillett, Schaeffer, Jackson's Greg Gastelu and Casola completed the top five.

Mike Alcaro of West Milford also earned two sets of trophies as he swept 25-lappers for the Green Flag Driving Experience Legend Cars. Point leader Nick Van Wickle was the runner-up in race number one, while Rob Silver of Wall, Peter Bruno of Little Silver and Chris Hammett were third through fifth. In the second 25-lapper Alcaro was the winner with Van Wickle, Hammett, Bruno and Eugene Drew of Oakland wrapping the top five.

Kyle Scisco of Jackson tasted victory for the third time this year in a caution plagued 25-lap race for the Center State Engineering Sportsman cars. Scisco took the lead with an outside lane pass at the halfway mark and earned the win over Howell's Kevin Davison, Mike Brennan of Morristown, Jackson's Jarret DiGiantomasso and Michael Rising of Red Bank.

The All American Auto Group Racing Series continues this Saturday evening (Sept. 22) on “Pack the Track Night.” The O'Shea's Auto Repair Factory Stocks will return for twin 25-lap main events, while the Surfside Collision 4 cylinder Stocks, Sportsman cars and Legend Cars will all compete in a 25-lappers. Two Demolition Derby events will cap off the evening. Adults in the grandstand will enjoy a discounted $10 admission ticket, kids 6 to 12 are $5 and five and under are free! Parking is also free of charge. Grandstands open at 5:00 p.m., with qualifying set for 5:45 p.m. and feature race action set for 7:00 p.m.

Saturday night racing action continues through the October 6 “Champion's Night” with schedule details at www.wallspeedwayracing.com. The Halloween themed “Spooky Spectacular” racing event is set for October 20 and the annual Turkey Derby is set for Friday, Saturday and Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend. The post-season racing cards start during the afternoon.

LADIES NIGHT AT WALL STADIUM THIS SATURDAY (SEPT 8)

WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. ~ Female fans of the All American Auto Group Racing Series stock car competition at Wall Stadium Speedway will be honored this Saturday night (Sept 8) as the shore speedway offers a discounted admission price for all ladies of just $10. All fans who attend Saturday night's racing program will also get to meet the female racing stars of the speedway in a special autograph session. Lady racers Nancy Riggleman and Theresa Collins from the Factory Stocks and Darianne McLaren, Nicole Razzano and Jennifer Schultz, all from the 4 Cylinder Stocks, are among the ladies expected to participate in the meet and greet gathering.

The Pete and Elda's Bar/Carmen's Pizzeria Modified stock cars will take center stage on the third mile paved oval as they compete in a 40 lap main event. Also seeing action will be the Center State Engineering Sportsman cars, the O'Shea's Auto Repair Factory Stocks, the Surfside Collision 4 Cylinder Stocks and the Green Flag Driving Experience Legend Cars all in 25-lap main events. As a bonus, several pit crew members will compete in a mechanic's race.

Grandstand seating will open at 5:00 p.m. and qualifying is set for 5:45 p.m. The evening’s main event action will follow around 7:00 p.m.

Recent winners Tyler Truex of Mayetta, Andrew Krause of Holmdel, Chas Okerson of Freehold and point leader Jimmy Blewett of Howell will lead the way in the Modified division with expected competition coming from Jackson's Steven Reed, Howell's Eric Mauriello, Kenny Van Wickle of Manasquan, Shaun Carrig of Little Falls and Jackson's Jason Treat, just to name a few.

Saturday’s schedule will see the competitor pit area open at 1:00 p.m. Regular practice will start at 3:00 p.m., while spectator seating will open at 5:00 p.m. Qualifying for the night’s program starts at 5:45 p.m. and main events will follow at 7:00 p.m.

TRUEX GRABS FIRST MODIFIED WIN, MONTANO TOPS FACTORY STOCK THRILLER AT WALL SATURDAY

WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. ~ Tyler Truex of Mayetta won his first ever Pete and Elda's Bar/Carmen's Pizzeria Modified stock car 40-lap main event at Wall Stadium Speedway Saturday night. The All American Auto Group Racing Series victory came in the 2017 Sportsman champion's rookie Modified season.

Truex jumped to the lead early and was forced to fight off some of the division's best drivers. Early on Steven Reed of Jackson and Holmdel's Andrew Krause were on Truex's rear bumper before Krause was forced to pit because of a faulty radiator cap. Truex then fought off Reed until just past halfway when defending champion and current point leader Jimmy Blewett of Howell slipped into second. Blewett then chased Truex the rest of the way but Truex seemed to have plenty of steam to the checker flag. Reed held on for third at the stripe with Shaun Carrig of Little Falls and Freehold's Chas Okerson wrapping up the top five.

“I'm speechless,” Truex said after the impressive win. “The hard work the people behind the scenes do for me is unbelievable! It seemed to take forever but we finally won a Modified race here! So happy to take my family back to victory lane in the Modified division here at Wall Stadium! The history, family tradition, fans and support I have is unbelievable. No words can explain how thankful I am to each and every one of you! Thank you!”

Current championship point leader Mike Montano won the 50-lap race for the O'Shea's Auto Repair Factory Stocks in what many called the most exciting race of the season. Montano jumped out to the lead early but then had to wrestle with Beachwood's Elliott Wohl for the top spot. Wohl chased Montano until lap 15 and then took over the lead with an outside lane pass.

Montano never gave up and stayed right with Wohl as the pair sliced through lapped traffic. A lap 45 restart put Montano in the outside lane next to Wohl and the duo then raced side-by-side for the final five laps with Montano edging Wohl at the finish line by inches. Ron Booth of Eatontown crossed the finish line third, but when his car failed post-race inspection because of a problem with his front suspension Scott Riggleman of Manchester was promoted to the spot. John Bowers of Pt. Pleasant and Howell's Steve west completed the top five.

Neil Rutt III of Toms River won his third straight 25-lapper for the Surfside Collision 4 Cylinder Stocks, racing through the pack to move out front near the halfway point. Jeffrey Loesch of Neptune City, Howell's Brian Osborn, Darianne McLaren of Edison and Hazlet's Chris Silvestri completed the top five.

Shanon Mongeau of Manchester continues to be undefeated as he raced to victory in the 25-lap race for the Mike's Performance Center Limited Late Models. Ken Matlach of New Hyde Park, N.Y. offered stiff competition before settling for second. Mike Tillett of Bayville, Carteret's Harry Schaeffer, and Dom Casola of Holmdel wrapped up the top five.

The Limited Late Models were scheduled for two main events on the night, but when a tire order failed to arrive at the speedway, which meant that there would not be enough tires for the entire field for both races, the second feature was scrubbed.

The All American Auto Group Racing Series continues this Saturday evening (Sept. 8) on “Ladies Night.” The Pete and Elda's Bar/Carmen's Pizzeria Modifieds will race in a 40-lapper and the Center State Engineering Sportsman cars, the Green Flag Driving Experience Legend Cars, the Factory Stocks and the 4 Cylinder Stocks will all compete in a 25-lappers. FIVE FEATURE RACES HEADLINE AT WALL STADIUM THIS SATURDAY (SEPT. 1)

Also seeing action will be the Surfside Collision 4 Cylinder Stocks. Grandstand seating will open at 5:00 p.m. and qualifying is set for 5:45 p.m. The evening’s main event action will follow around 7:00 p.m. Adults will enjoy a discount admission of just $15.

On the famous third mile high-banked paved oval defending champion Jimmy Blewett of Howell will lead the way with expected competition coming from Andrew Krause of Holmdel, Steven Reed of Jackson, Derek Hopkinson of Toms River and Chris Reynolds of Howell, just to name a few. With the 2018 regular season title chase entering the final stretch this 40-lap race takes on added importance.

The Factory Stocks also have an important 50-lap main event scheduled. Top point men Mike Montano of Freeport, N.Y., Elliot Wohl of Beachwood and Scott Riggleman of Manchester are just a few of the racers expected to enter. Twin 25-lap main events for the Limited Late Models will see big winner Shanon Mongeau of Manchester in the field, with top runners Joe Mongeau of Brick, Harry Schaeffer of Cateret and Dom Casola of Holmdel also expected to compete.

In the grandstand midway the theme for the night of action will be a Labor Day BBQ featuring BBQ food offered at the refreshment stands and country music on the public address system.

ANDREW KRAUSE WINS CLIFF KRAUSE MEMORIAL AT WALL SATURDAY

WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. ~ In what could have been easily written as a Hollywood script, Andrew Krause of Holmdel overcame adversity to win the first ever Cliff Krause Memorial race at Wall Stadium Speedway Saturday night. Offering $7,127 to the 127-lap race winner, the Krause Memorial offers the richest payout on the 2018 All American Auto Group racing Series regular season for the Pete and Elda's Bar/Carmen's Pizzeria Modified stock cars.

Cliff Krause, who rescued the paved oval nearly a decade ago when he took over as the promoter along with his wife Diane, passed away of natural causes in January. His family continues to operate the facility.

Andrew Krause's effort started on a high note when he posted the fastest lap of 28 entries in time trials at 96.615 mph for a trip around the third mile oval. His first setback then came when a fan picked a 14 car inverted line up for the start of the race which relegated him to a fourteenth starting spot. Krause then started his march to the front, but that lasted just 10 laps before a broken power steering line sent him to the pit area for repairs. Krause returned to the the pack of the pack to attempt to get to the front.

Meanwhile a battle for the lead seemed to rage almost constantly as Lavallette's Adam LaCicero and Danny Bohn of Mooresville, N.C. took turns in the top spot in the early going. When Bohn left the race with shifter problems Steven Reed of Jackson took command and eventually wrestled side-by-side for several laps with Shaun Carrig of Little Falls before Carrig took the lead with an outside lane pass. With Carrig deciding not to bolt on a new tire when several others had or did, he slipped back a few spots after a lap 94 restart and Krause took the lead.

Krause then fought through a handful of late race caution flags and fought off the challenges of first Zack Alspach of Willingboro and later Derek Hopkinson of Toms River for the emotional win. Howell's Jimmy Blewett, who fought through his own share of on track troubles, crossed the line third, with Reed and Carrig wrapping up the top five.

“This one is for you Dad,” Krause said after the victory. “We had that power steering problem early and I thought that was it, but my crew made the repairs. They never give up and that won us this race tonight. I'm just so glad that I can share this with my mom and my sister. But I am so sad that my father isn't here for this win.”

Kenny Green of Farmingdale won the companion 27-lap feature race for the O'Shea's Auto Repair Factory Stocks. Bryan O'Shea of Wall was the early leader until a slowing car blocked his path with just six laps remaining. John Bowers of Pt. Pleasant then slipped into the lead before lapped car woes spoiled his effort with two laps remaining. Green was then able to motor into the lead and battled Elliot Wohl of Beachwood to the checker flag. O'Shea, point leader Mike Montano of Freeport, N.Y. and Manchester's Scott Riggleman completed the top five.

Neil Rutt III of Jackson won his first ever main event in the 27-lapper for the Surfside Collision 4 Cylinder Stocks. Jeffrey Loesch of Neptune City was second, with Howell's Brian Osborn, Darianne McLaren of Edison and Hazlet's Chris Silvestri third through fifth.

Alex McCollum of Phillipsburg was also a first time winner in the Green Flag Driving Experience Legend Cars 27-lap main event. Vinny Troia of Browns Mills, Nick Van Wickle of Edgewater Park, Rob Hyer and James Van Wickle completed the first five.

The All American Auto Group Racing Series continues this Saturday evening (Aug. 25) on “Pack the Track Night,” which offers a discounted $10 adult admission, a $5 ticket for youngsters 6 to 16 and free admission for kids five and under. The Center State Sportsman cars will race in a 50-lapper, while the Factory Stocks, 4 Cylinder Stocks, Legend Cars and the TQ Midgets are all slated for regular distance main event action. Once racing is complete a Demolition Derby will be presented. Grandstands open at 5:00 p.m., with qualifying set for 5:45 p.m. and feature race action set for 7:00 p.m.
