Tim Flock drove his Ted Chester owned Hudson Hornet to victory in the 2nd annual NASCAR Grand National 'Motor City 250' on the 1-mile dirt oval at the Michigan State Fairgrounds.

A.J. Foyt won the Schaefer 500 USAC Championship race on the 2.5-mile paved oval Pocono International Raceway, Long Pond, PA. Wally Dallenbach was second followed by Billy Vukovich, Jr, Roger McCluskey and Gary Bettenhausen.
