Hoosier Tire Mid Atlantic VP Racing Fuels

Wall Township, NJ. Saturday April 29, 2017 ... 2015 ATQMRA Champion Buddy Sload has returned to his winning ways in the Colin Martin Spitfire 36 by earning back to back feature victories first at the club opener, then backing it up with a win Saturday at Wall Stadium in wingless competition on Wall's inner oval on Wall Stadium's Fan Fest Night. Rob Vivona rolled across the line second with Matt Roselli third. Roselli and Ryan Tidman earned heat race victories. Ronnie the Rocket Mullen was the highest finishing Acro Rookie of the year candidate. Fellow Rookie Jon Keller went for a rough ride onto his lid in the feature. The Brice's NAPA Auto Parts Clean Start Buckets were handed out to teams at the event.

The luck of the draw put Matt Janisch in the Alan Mollot Lindblad Badger along Side Mark Yoder in his Hyper Hugger on the front row. Janisch was able to power into the lead on the initial start with Joey Bailer following him in Second. Bailey pressured Janisch for the lead before overtaking him on lap 7. Bailey opened up a margin on second when the red flag was flown for a tangle between two rookie candidates exiting the fourth turn sending Jon Keller over onto his lid ending his day early.

At the time of the red flag just prior to half way Ryan Tidman and Matt Jansich tangled on the back straight away sending Janisch upside down. Jansich and Tidman were able to continue. This put Sload on the outside pole for the restart alongside Bailey. On the restart, Bailey launched into the lead and held serve until lap 22 when Sload and Bailey made contact entering the third turn in what was deemed a "Racing Incident" bringing out the caution for a spinning Bailey.

Eighth starting Rob Vivona in the lone 600 Micro Sprint in the field slowly picked his way forward to move into the second position for the restart. Sload was able to maintain the advantage and park the 36 Spitfire in Victory lane for his second feature win in so many races in 2017. Vivona trailed Sload in Second with a hard charging Matt Roselli rounding out the Podium. Ryan Tidman rebounded from the lap 12 incident to notch a fourth place finish with Geoffrey Sutton rounding out the top five.

Mark Yoder Rolled across the line sixth with Janisch rebounding from the earlier flip to finish seventh. Jeff Kot was eighth in the Behrents Performance Yuhas Chassis 88 with the top Rookie of the race Wall Stadium's own Ronnie the Rocket Mullen ninth. Austin Fehr rounded out the top ten with Joey Bailey coming back from the late race spin to finish eleventh.

The ATQMRA was once again part of Wall's popular on track Fan Fest where teams were able to meet and mingle with fans and friends. For the first time Father and Son Ronnie and Cole Mullen raced on track together with the old man besting the kid in the debut of Ron's brand New BGF Chassis and Motor 39 car.

Each of the teams received a NAPA Bucket containing hand cleaner carburator cleaner and car polishing products from Brice's NAPA Auto Parts for the third consecutive year. A special thanks to Bill Brice, The ATQMRA's Race Director, for helping to keep the organization looking good.

The first heat race was won by Matt Roselli in his family owned Laffler Chassis 98. The second heat was won by a fellow Laffler Chassis mount the Boyd Racing 1B driven by Flying Ryan Tidman.

Sload Parks it at Mahoning Hoosier Tire Mid Atlantic ATQMRA

Saturday April 15, 2017, Lehighton, Pa; 2015 ATQMRA Champion Buddy Sload Parked the Colin Martin Spitfire 36 in Victory Lane at the ATQMRA's season opening race at Mahoning Valley Speedway. Heat Races were won by Sload and Kris Graver. Dave Gorbatuk was the highest finishing ACRO Engineering Rookie contender. A total of five 2017 rookie contenders were on hand at the opener. Next up for the ATQMRA is Wall Stadium on Saturday April 29th for wingless racing on that track's flat inner oval.

The front row of Joey Bailey and Jeff Kot took the green flag and charged into the first turn . Buddy Sload took advantage of his fourth starting position to sweep into the lead to be scored the race leader on lap one. The caution fell for Kyle Taraska on lap 2 when his mount lost power. The restart saw Sload shoot into the lead and open a gap when the race was slowed for the final time on lap 3 by a slowing Joey Payne III who would return to action.

Sload again launched into the lead and ran away and hid as Kris Graver worked his way into second on lap six from his 7th starting spot in the Janisch 48 that won the 2017 ATQMRA Championship. With the speed Graver showed in his heat race he was the odds on favorite heading into the feature. His fast lap in the heat was nearly 4 tenths faster than the field. When he worked his way into second he set sail to reel Sload in. Graver couldn't negotiate lapped traffic as efficiently as Sload and would have to settle for second.

Sload thanked car owner Colin Martin for allowing him and BJ MacDonald to revitalize the team's Spitfire 36. They certainly did their job well returning the iconic Spitfire to Victory lane in its first outdoor race since the rebuild. The car is the very car that NASCAR Hall of Fame Nominee MIke Stefanik raced to his only Victory in his Home State of Rhode Island at the Dunkin Doughnuts Center Indoor Race a number of years ago.

Engineering Student Joey Bailey would round out the podium in the Zuzzalo 02 with Mike Tidaback finishing fourth in the Alan Mollot 51. Jeff Kot rounded out the top five in his Behrent's Performance/Janisch/Yuhas Chassis 88 after being near the top of the speed chart all day long.

The ACRO Engineering Rookie of the Race was Dave Gorbatuk in his Spitfire 32 Putting him at the top of the Rookie Championship Standings. He also pocketed the Advance Shock Technology contingency award for Sporting Advance Shocks on all four corners of his Spitfrire. Jon Keller was the second highest finishing Rookie with Cole Mullen making his first laps in a TQ Midget that day at Mahoning with Kyle Taraska being a DNF. The other Rookie on hand was Ronnie Mullen. His team's new BGF Chassis mount will be ready for the next show at Wall on the 29th.

Buddy Sload showed his speed in the heat race and led every lap to earn the win. Graver was the only racer to dip into the 8 second bracket running an 8.984 second lap to win his heat in dominant fashion.

The MNO Money's No Object award winner was Joey Bailey. The MNO award is $100 that is given to a random driver selected at the end of the race donated by the legendary Bob Emmons at each race throughout the season.

The ATQMRA is raffling off a five gallon pale of the organization's official fuel, VP's popular C12 product. Jeff Kot's crew girl Macey was holding the winning ticket for this week's raffle.

The Buzz in the Pits at the season opener at Mahoning was talk about the exciting return of Midget racing to the grounds of Pocono International Raceway on the weekend of August 18 and 19th. Everyone is excited to be given the opportunity to race at Pocono Raceway and to take part in the TQ Tricky Challenge presented by the Classic Racing Times. 11/26/2016 --- Matt Roselli used hthe pole position to its fullest advantage and earned his first win of the 2016 season in his Family 98 Lafler chassis mount. Ryan Tidman and Bobby Holmes rounded out the podium. 2016 ATQMRA Season Champion Matt Janisch set fast time in the Formula 1 style qualifying besting Mike Occhipinte and Geoffrey Sutton. The ATQMRA regulars took on all comers and were able to hold serve against a diverse group of many of the northeast's top invaders from pavement and Dirt Modifieds, SuperModified, SpeedSTRs to Midget, Sprint and Micro Sprint racers. They all tried their hands on the Wall Flat track in the race dedicated to the Memory of ATQRMA Friend Chris Zrinski. Additional money was collected from fans and competitors to help sweeten the pot in the feature event.

Qualifying for the Turkey Derby was done Formula 1 Style with group qualifying against the clock with the top 12 making the feature redraw. With two to go in the final session Geoffrey Sutton in the brand new Fred Delibero Metz Racing Driver Development BGF Chassis 461 sat at the top of the chart. At the white Flag Michigan Mike Occhipinte in the 46 car that Sutton raced all season put his number at the top of the pilon only to have Matt Jansich turn the quickest lap of the day coming to the Checkered flag to set fast time.

Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good. On this day, Matt Roselli was both. His ninth-place time trial put him in the redraw and he was lucky enough to pull the number one pill. Roselli and Occhipinte who races Modifieds in Michigan and Wisconsin would lead the field to the Green flag with Roselli powering into the lead with 2015 NYPA TQ Midget Champion Kyle Hutchinson following him into second. Hutchinson's carbureted Suzuki challenged from the second position until lap 8 when a bent steering arm slowed his car and ended his race on lap fifteen.

2015 ATQMRA Champion Buddy Sload worked his way into second for a couple of laps before relinquishing the position to multi time Champion Ryan Tidman in the Boyd Racing 1b Lafler. Tidman would charge into the lead moving Roselli into second.

A caution flew on lap 16 when contact from Sutton send Janisch spinning into the third turn. Sutton would be assessed a 2-position penalty post-race for the incident. Cautions breed cautions and another caution fell for a 3-car tangle coming out of the fourth turn involving Marc Rogers who raced several divisions in Wall's Turkey Derby, Occhipinte and Tim Buckwalter who is a Grandview Speedway Modified racer as well as a past ARDC Midget Champion and a stand out driver in Micro Sprints and the SpeedSTR division. Another caution fell for spinning Dirt Modified Superstar Mike Iles. The final caution of the race was the most consequential. A jumbled restart behind pole sitter Ryan Tidman led to incidental contact from Kyle Lick that sent Sutton into a spin. Janisch moved to the outside to go around the spinning Sutton but hooked Sutton's front bumper and tore the entire left side from the Yuhas 48 car ending his day.

The final restart of the race wasn't without incident but no caution was thrown and the race went from that point to the end with Matt Roselli determined to show he wasn't just lucky but good enough to retake the lead and win his first Turkey Derby. After the lap 18 restart Roselli would dog Tidman who was determined to get his first win of the season after finishing second in the ATQMRA Standings. Roselli's opportunity to pounce came on lap 21 to take the lead and never look back winning by 1.047 seconds over Tidman and a hard charging NYPA TQ Midget and Western NY Modified racer Bobby Holmes. 2015 ATQMRA Champion Buddy Sload would finish fourth with ARDC Midget, Micro sprint and SpeedSTR standout Lick crossing the line as the first micro sprint.

The 2016 version of the ATQMRA's Turkey Derby was run to honor the passing of Big Chris Zrinski who recently lost a long battle with cancer in multiple sites in his body. Family friend John Larson had memorial decals made that were distributed to racers and put up a $100 bonus to the highest finisher sporting the decal that was awarded to Flying Ryan Tidman. John and Pat Malik posted a $100 Hard luck award that was awarded to Matt Janisch following the feature. Micky Soto Metz went through the pits and collected $480 from fans and drivers alike to boost the payout to the racers. The Zrinski traditional car numbers are 25 and 75. It was decided to divide the money collected equally between position 2, 5 and 7. Tidman's second place finish netted him a total of $260 above the normal payout with Tim Proctor and Kyle Lick picking up $160 each for finishing in position 7 and 5. Thank you to everyone who donated to help make the Chris Zrinski memorial race special. Special thanks go to the handful of racers and friends who are making private donations to the Zrinski family Foundation. Don, Ken and Big Lou Zrinski were on hand along with Chris Son Will as well as family friend Rich.

A diverse group of racers from varying backgrounds were on hand to test the flat track at Wall in preparation for the indoor season. NYPA TQ racer as well as western NY Modified Standout Bobby Holmes raced the 21 car that he will be racing in the Sammons indoor series made his third ATQMRA start of the season racing at Waterford Speed Bowl and a show earlier in the year at Wall. Kyle Lick will be racing the same Micro Sprint he ran at Wall indoors this winter and spends time behind the wheel of an ARDC Midget SpeedSTR and Micro Sprints. Eighth finishing Joey Payne Jr. was shaking down the Rich Tolerico 5 car for the indoor series. Payne can be found in the summer months behind the wheel of TQ Midgets, Full Midgets, Nema Lites and in the ultra-fast ranks of the Big Block Super Modifieds. Fifteenth finishing Brett Michalski raced the Colin Martin 17 Micro Sprint. Brett has spent time racing Micro Sprints and recently started racing sprint cars. Anthony Payne who was in his family 45 Lafler TQ Midget is a Quarter Midget Graduate who won the Nema Lites Midget Championship in 2015 and continues racing the Lites Midgets as well as a small block Supermodfied.

ATQRMA News and Notes: Last years Turkey Derby Champion Eric Rudolph who won the race int he Mark Lafler house car wasn't on hand to defend his Turkey Derby Crown. Roselli picked up the mantle and earned the second Turkey Derby Victory for in a Potent Lafler Chassis Mount.

Geoffrey Sutton in the new BGF 461 car picked up right where he left off in the old 461 car by racing at the front of the pack and posting times at the top of the speed Chart. While Sutton was running one of the newest cars on the circuit Teammate for the day Occhipinte was taking the Metz Racing Bruce's Chassis car out for its last modern race before being retired to Vintage competition.

Occhipinte did the team proud in his only start of the season picking up where Sutton left off in the car nearly setting fast time only being sniped on the last lap of time trials by the talented Matt Jansich. The Occhipinte car made its first race in 1988 at that year's Turkey derby with Bill Courtwright at the wheel driving for Teddy and Arlene Seiz as a white and Pink number 56 with a Polaris engine. The car would win that year's indoor championship and the last Championship contested at the long shuttered Pinebrook Speedway.

Sutton Sweeps the Action at Wall Janisch Champion Yoder Rookie of the Year
2016 ATQMRA Hoosier Tire Mid Atlantic

September 17, 2016 Wall Stadium - 2014 ATQMRA Rookie of the year Geoffrey Sutton parked the BGF Engine Metz Racing Driver Development 461 in Victory lane for the third time at Wall Stadium to earn his fourth overall win of the 2016 season. Matt Janisch was crowned the 2016 ATQMRA Champion and Mark Yoder pocketed the 2016 Rookie of the Year Award. Ryan Tidman would finish second in the standings after charging from the rear of the pack with Sutton third in the final point's tally. Heat Races were won by Geoffrey Sutton and Jeff Kot. Next up for the ATQMRA is the organization's debut at Stafford Springs Speedway on October 1 for a wingless indoor style rules package race on the track's inner oval.

The Feature race came to the initial green flag with a front row of Chris Hirt and Don Zrinski. A multi car tangle aborted the first attempt sending Hirt, Zrinksi and Glaser to the rear. The second attempt had a front row of Tim Proctor and Buddy Sload take the green flag with Sload getting the jump but another caution slowed the action prior to a lap's completion.

With the Championship settled the week prior the point battle entering the day was for second between Geoffrey Sutton and Multi time Champion Flying Ryan Tidman. Tidman had the edge by sixteen points which equates to four positions on the track. Sutton's chance to get have enough margin on Tidman came when Tidman was involved in an early race incident that relegated him to the back of the pack.

When racing finally got under way Sload was able to take the lead from the pole starting position with the Hard Charging Geoffrey Sutton moving quickly into second. Sutton would lead the second lap only to relinquish the lead to Sload before taking the lead for good on lap five. Sutton would set sail once in the lead opening a margin on second. 2014 and 2016 Champion Matt Janisch worked his way quickly into second position by lap seven. Sutton would hold Janisch off on a mid race restart. The action would be slowed once more on lap 20 for a five lap shootout to the finish.

Sutton would surge into the lead and hold Janisch at bay to the finish winning by a slim .238 seconds at the line to bookend the season with a win at Wall. Third across the line was BJ Macdonald in the 17 600 Micros Sprint but his efforts were for naught since it was announced during the race that a mid race jumped start would cost him two positions at race end. Fourth finishing 2015 Champion Buddy Sload would have his efforts negated in post race tech due to a tread width infraction allowing the hard charging Tidman to finish third.

The ATQMRA's top 2016 Rookie Mark Yoder would be credited with a fourth place finish after a fierce battle with Tidman. Yoder would end the season an impressive fifth in the standings just eight markers behind Veteran Jeff Kot in the Behrents Performance 95. Kot would battle toward the front of the pack before loosing brakes and falling to a ninth place finish.

Heat races were won handily by Geoffrey Sutton and Jeff Kot.

Sutton's first ATQMRA feature win came at Wall during the season opening race. He would park the 461 in victory lane mid season at Wall and in winged competition at the Waterford Speedbowl.

Sutton's four win total is second only to the club's 2016 Champion Matt Janisch who parked his 48 in victory lane in the other six point races run. Janisch won both races at Mahoning Valley as well as Bethel Speedway and wins on Wall's inner oval. Janisch's worst finish of the year was a third at the opener at Wall. When he didn't visit Victory lane he finished second to Sutton to earn the Championship.

Next up for the ATQMRA will be the organization's first trip to New England's Stafford Motor Speedway for an open competition wingless race on that track's inner oval. All cars will be run under a modified indoor style rules package on Saturday October 1st. Gates open at 8:00 am with the first round of practice scheduled for 10:00 am. ATQMRA News and Notes: Mahoning Valley Modified Standout and SpeedSTR racer Kevin Graver made his first ATQMRA start in the Janisch ten inch car that powered Matt Janisch to his first Championship in 2014. Graver took to the smaller cars in his first ever trip to Wall and notched a solid eighth place finish. Joey Payne III had a resurgent day at Wall after suffering an engine failure in the previous round at Mahoning to earn an 11th place finish after a week of hard work to have his car ready for action. Rookie Kyle Taraska made his first TQ midget start in the Fred Delibero Metz Racing 01 and gained experience finishing a solid lucky 13th. The pragmatic Joey Bailey had one of the faster cars in the field but would loose brakes and have his race end early when his brakes faded relegating him to a fourteenth place finish.

Janisch Takes Sixth win of 2016 at Mahoning Valley
Hoosier Tire Mid Atlantic ATQMRA

Lehighton, Pa, September 10, 2016.
Matt Janisch of Nazareth, Pa won the American Three Quarter Midget Racing Association's race at Mahoning Valley Speedway when he overtook race long leader Buddy Sload following a restart with five laps remaining. This is Janisch' sixth win of the season and second at Mahoning Valley making him the only TQ racer to win on Lehighton's circular oval. Sload finished second with Jeff Kot rounding out the podium. Heat Races were won by Buddy Sload and Mike Tidaback. Unofficially Janisch's win wraps up the championship heading into the ATQMRA's last race of the season at Wall Stadium Next Saturday September 17th. The ATQMRA has a pair of non point open competition wingless indoor rules package races at Stafford Springs Speedway and the annual Turkey Derby at Wall.

The front Row of pole sitter Mike Glaser and Buddy Sload took the Green flag from starter Bobby Stull. Glaser won the drag race into turn 1 but Sload was able to carry the momentum around the outside to shoot into the lead exiting the second turn. Sload looked to be on a mission to be the first ATQMRA Racer not named Janisch or Sutton to earn a win in 2016 opening a significant gap on the field.

The first caution of the race would fall when Joey Payne III's engine expired ending his night. Payne has been seemingly snake bitten all season long. He has put in a significant effort all season long to have his car prepared and at the track only to have most of his days end in frustration. This night at Mahoning was no different. Better days are ahead.

Janisch took advantage of the restart to move from sixth to third and work on Joey Bailey to get into second. He was able to move into second on lap seven. By the time Janisch made his methodical charge to the front Sload already opened up a significant lead. Janisch then set sail and began to attempt to reel Sload in. Janisch was able to negotiate lapped traffic well enough to get close to Sload's tail but couldn't make a move. The caution fell for a slowing Geoffrey Sutton on lap 20.

The lap 20 restart closed the field up behind Sload and gave Janisch the opportunity he needed. Entering the third turn following Stull's green flag Janisch dove to the bottom and beat Sload back to the finish line and proceeded to reel off the fastest laps of the day to get the win by a 2.4 second advantage over Sload. Jeff Kot in his own Behrent's Performance 95 Badger would surge on the last lap and make a daring three wide move to take the third spot.

Mike Tidaback in the Alan Mollot 51 Lindblad Badger would finish fourth with Joey Bailey rounding out the top five. Matt Roselli would roll across the line sixth with Flying Ryan Tidman seventh. The top Rookie of the race Mark Yoder would roll across the line eighth with Geoffrey Sutton ninth and Mike Glaser tenth. Kris Graver in the second Janisch mount would drop out of the race on lap 14 with Joey Payne III being credited with 12th.

Both heat races were won from the front row with Buddy Sload winning the first heat in the Colin Martin Spitfire 16. Mike Tidaback started from the Pole and won the second heat in the Alan Mollot 51 Lindblad Badger. The pair ran the fastest laps in the heat races.

The night was Mahoning Valley's Dorney Park and Mahoning Valley Nostalgia night. The Vintage TQ midgets were on hand with Gary Mondschein winning the four stroke division feature with Tom Arntz winning the two stroke division race. Incidentally the Mollot 51 Lindblad Badger that finished fourth in the modern TQ race also raced at and won on the fabled Dorney Park oval before that tracks closure in 1986.

Up next for the ATQRMA is the final Points paying race at Wall Stadium on Saturday September 17th. While unofficially it looks like Janisch has sewn up his second championship in the last three years the battle for second between Flying Ryan Tidman and Geoffrey Sutton is still close. Jansich sits exactly 100 points up on Tidman but would still earn the title if Tidman were to score a feature win in the final round with Janisch earning no points by virtue of the ATQMRA's tie breaker system that breaks any ties based on feature wins.

Janisch won his seventh TQ midget feature at Mahoning Valley putting him alone in second place on the track's all time TQ midget feature win list behind Don Adams. Adams 20 wins at Mahoning will likely never be surpassed since his win total came when the organization raced the majority of its shows at Mahoning in the early 2000s.

The ATQMRA Points paying season ends at Wall Stadium on Saturday September 17th with a wingless show on the inner oval to crown the organization's 2016 Champions. Two more races appear on the schedule as non Points wingless races running under an Indoor style rules package. The ATQMRA will make its first appearance at Stafford Motor Speedway on Saturday October 1st on that track's inner oval with the final race of the season taking place at the prestigious Turkey Derby at Wall Stadium on Saturday November 26th.

ATQMRA News and Notes: Bobby Stull who is the official Starter at Mahoning Valley Speedway and has had an active involvement with the Checkered Flag Fan Club cut his teeth as a starter under the tutelage of the legendary Nick Fornoro Sr. flagging races for the ATQMRA at Pinebrook Speedway in the 80s. Bob noted that Nick, who was a championship winning Midget racer and official starter for the ATQMRA the ARDC Midgets as well as the official starter for the CART Indy Car Series, told him that, "If you can flag at Pinebrook you can flag anywhere." Bob gets the opportunity to get back to his roots by flagging the lightening quick TQ midgets around the Mahoning Valley Circular oval.

Wall Township, NJ July 23, 2016 -- Geoffrey Sutton Backed up his opening day feature win by sweeping the day's TQ midget racing action at the Speedway by the Shore Wall Stadium. Sutton pocketed the $300.00 winners share and a Brice's NAPA Auto Parts NAPA Aluminum Racing Jack as a contingency prize. Joey Bailey and Sutton were heat race winners. Sutton was chased across the line by Matt Janisch and Ryan Tidman who scored another podium finish. Next up for the ATQMRA is a trip to the Waterford Speedbowl in Connecticut for winged racing action on Saturday August 6th.

The First heat race saw Joey Bailey and Mike Glaser take the green. Bailey shot into the lead followed by Glaser with Ryan Tidman sliding into second. Jeff Kot in his Behrent's Performance 95 Badger assuming the third spot by the end of the second lap. Matt Jansich charged from his sixth starting position to overtake Kot for third on lap six. Kot would finish fourth followed by Anthony Payne with Tim Proctor taking the final transfer position.
The second heat saw Geoffrey Sutton move from his third starting position to lead the first lap and was followed into the lead by the always fast Matt Roselli. The pair would finish one two with Sutton earning the win over Roselli. Top rookie of the year candidate Mark Yoder finished third with 2015 ATQMRA Champion Buddy Sload fourth followed by Don Zrinski and Mark Rogers.

The ATQMRA 25 lap feature saw Joey Bailey and Tim Proctor lead the field for the club's impressive four abreast parade lap and salute to the fans. When the green flag flew Tim Proctor moved into the lead over Bailey until Bailey completed a pass to lead the third circuit. Matt Roselli would move into second with Geoffrey Sutton riding in third. Sutton would make his move to take the lead on lap twelve with Bailey Sitting second until a cooling system failure ended Bailey's day on lap thirteen collecting Roselli in the process.

The always fast Matt Jansich picked his way through the field to put himself on Sutton's bumper for the restart after methodically advancing from his tenth starting position. Since it was past half way the restart was single file and Sutton was able to get a five car length advantage over Janisch and held serve over the final laps. Flying Ryan Tidman continued his streak of consistent finishes rounding out the podium. Mark Rogers piloted his 27 car to a fourth place finish with Matt Roselli charging back through the field to earn a solid fifth place finish. Top Rookie Mark Yoder raced his Hyper Hugger to sixth with Buddy Sload finishing seventh. Andrew Krause Anthony Payne and Mike Glaser rounded out the top ten.

The always fast Jeff Kot in his Behrents Peformance 95 worked his way into fifth place on track when his engine expired ending his chances of taking the checker.

Sutton ended Janisch's streak of four ATQMRA feature wins in a row making Janisch and Sutton the only drivers to find their way to Victory Lane with the ATQRMA in 2016. Ironically both Janisch and Sutton earned their first ATQMRA wins in the same Metz Racing car that Sutton currently pilots.

A special thanks goes out to Bill Brice of Brice's NAPA Auto Stores for supporting all of the divisions racing at Wall and his efforts with the ATQMRA. Geoffrey Sutton earned a NAPA Aluminum Racing Jack as a contingency award for winning the feature.

Next up for the ATQMRA Is a trip to the New London Ct 's Waterford Speedbowl on August 6th. This will be the first trip to the Speedbowl since Mike Tidaback earned his first feature win in his Father Bob's Suzuki Gamma Powered Lindblad Badger in September of 1995. Northeast Modified ace Nick Ladyga and a host of others to be announced will take on the ATQMRA faithful on the 3/8 mile Speedbowl.

Janisch Wins at Wall on GardenState Classic Night ATQMRA Hoosier Tire Mid Atlantic Cops Fourth Win in a Row

Wall Stadium, NJ. June 25, 2016 ..Matt Janisch of Nazareth, Pa has won his fair share of ATQMRA races across the years and earned himself a championship in 2014. Since the second race of the season nobody else has visited victory lane. Janisch earned four ATQMRA feature race wins in a row. Janisch earned the win over second running Buddy Sload with Geoffrey Sutton rounding out the podium. Heat Races were won by Matt Roselli in his New Laffler Chassis mount with Rookie of the year Candidate Mark Yoder picking up the win in the other qualifier. Popular Wall racer Ronnie the Rocket Mullen took a wild ride in the feature but is ok after being checked out at the Jersey Shore Medical Center. The ATQRMA sees action next back at Wall on July 16.

The feature saw a front row of Tim Proctor and Ronnie Mullen take the green flag but before a lap could be completed contact between Buddy Sload and Jeff Kot sent Kot Spinning into the infield slowing the field.

On the second attempt it was Tim Proctor charging into the lead with Joey Bailey in tow with Matt Roselli in third. Proctor would surrender the lead to Bailey entering the first turn on lap three. Bailey looked strong but his time in front of the pack was short lived when an electrical gremlin reared its ugly head relegating him to a DNF in the final tally. Bailey who won the ATQMRA's last race on the high banks showed the prowess to contend on Wall's flat inner oval as well.

While side by side racing was happening throughout the pack Janisch was methodically picking his was to the front. Janisch was sharp as usual after having run four races in the last week Winning Bethel last Saturday with the wing on and running third and fourth in Speedstr competition in between. Proctor resumed command when Bailey fell out only to be overtaken by Janisch on lap eight.

Janisch in his Yuhas Chassis Mark Janisch powered combination would run off the fastest lap of the day and cruised to the win by 2.5 seconds over a battle between Buddy Sload and Geoffrey Sutton for second and third. When Sutton charged from his 12th starting position into third behind Sload the two had spirited battle swapping cross over moves with inside and outside passes for the second position. Sload came out on top in the battle for second with Sutton third. Tim Proctor rolled across the line fourth with Rookie of the year hopeful Mark Yoder crossing the line fifth.

The feature race was stopped on the thirteenth lap when Popular Wall Racer Ronnie the Rocket Mullen of nearby Brick Township went flipping down the back straight away. Following a precautionary trip to the hospital Mullen was bruised and sore but uninjured otherwise. His Classic Competition Dart Chassis did its job and kept the driver safe.

The first heat race was won by Matt Roselli who charged from his fourth starting position to earn the qualifier win over Jeff Kot, Matt Janisch, Anthony Payne and Ronnie Mullen with Mark Rogers picking up the last qualifying spot.

The second heat saw Mark Yoder work from his fourth starting position to take the lead in the waning laps. Yoder had a strong day at Wall earning his first ATQMRA Heat Race win and ran a strong fifth in the feature. Yoder Bested Jeff Kot followed by Janisch Anthony Payne, and a pair of Wall Regulars in Ron Mullen and Mark Rogers.

Next up for the ATQMRA is back at the Speedway by the Shore Wall Stadium for some more exciting short track racing on Wall's inner flat oval. Racing on the inner track and speedway management has helped to create resurgence in participation in the outdoor TQ ranks with the club drawing an eighteen car per race average. As teams have adapted to the flat track racing without wings the racing has improved and many drivers have demonstrated the ability to make passes on the outside and race side by side.

ATQMRA News and Notes: Matt Janisch, the 2005 ATQMRA Rookie of the year as well as 2014 Champion had a busy week racing a SpeedSTR to a third and fourth place finish on dirt demonstrating his throwback ability to adapt to both pavement and dirt. Blu Metz of the Metz Racing Driver Development Team took his 46 TQ to the Weatherly Hill climb on June 12th and Blasted up the paved mountain road making both rights and lefts timing 48th overall against 92 competitors. The ATQMRA has seen an uptick in the payouts teams receive from each event. Mark Ludwig was on hand as race Director for his first event in that position with the ATQMRA taking over for Bill Brice moving forward. Teams are reminded that they have an opportunity to put their cars on display in front of the crowd at Pocono for the IndyCar weekend on August 20 and 21st. The Application for putting a race car in the show can be found at http://www.theclassicracingtimes.com by clicking on Applications and filling out the Pocono Sun and Show Application.
