410 SPRINTS & MODIFIEDS JOIN THUNDER SERIES OPENER. . . . . .

BPG RACING BEEFS UP 358 MODIFIED PAYOFF, $3,000 TO WIN, $255 TO TAKE THE GREEN WEDNESDAY NIGHT, MAY 23RD AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY

The NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series will swing into action on Wednesday night, May 23 at the Grandview Speedway with the 410 Sprint & 358 Modified double-header. The 410 sprints will compete in race one of the Keystone Cup Sprint Series. Time trials and qualifying events will lead up to the 35 lap $5,000 to win 410 sprint feature. For the 358 Modifieds, BPG Racing/Chad Sinon Motorsports has beefed up the payoff for their 25 lap feature. $3,000 will go to the winner along with $350 for tenth and $255 just to start the main event for the 358 Modifieds. BPG and Chad Sinon have long supported the Thunder on the Hill Racing Series and one again, he is giving back to the sport.

410 sprint drivers expected to be in the field include Fred Rahmer of Salfordsville, PA, Greg Hodnett, Chad Layton, Justin Henderson, Lance Dewease, Brian Montieth, Logan Schuchart, Mark Smith, Brent Marks, Daryn Pittman and defending event winner Brian Leppo.

The 358 Modifieds will complete in a series of qualifying events all leading up to the 25 lap $3,000 to win feature. This event will certainly be viewed by some out-siders as a test and tune for the September 15 BPG $50,000 to win Freedom 76. Regulars expected to be in the field include Duane Howard, Jeff Strunk, Craig Vondohren, Doug Manmiller, Kevin Hirthler, MeMe DeSantis and Brad Missimer.

Of special interest for the always important Thunder on the Hill race fans, Vertical Wave Telephone Systems will be returning to the hill and offering as many as twelve $25 gas cards in a variety of giveaway promotions at each Thunder Show. Jim Gallagher of Vertical Wave continues to be a good friend to all who take part in the wildly popular Thunder on the Hill Series. Jim can easily be found on race night at the front gate or taking lead with the nightly Inside/Out Promotion, where race fans have an opportunity to watch warm-ups from the infield. For all your phone communication needs, reach out to Vertical Wave at 800-479-0955.

In 2012, the Modified feature winner of each Thunder on the Hill event will earn a dinner for two at Texas Roadhouse located on Hamilton Blvd (Route222) in Trexlertown, PA. At least one other bonus is soon to be announced for the Modifieds in the coming Thunder Series.

Adult admission tickets are $22, children 6-11 $5 and children 5 and under will be admitted for free. The pit fee is $30 and a license is not required.

Advance tickets for the May 23rd will be on sale at Grandview Speedway the two Saturday nights (May 12 and May 19) prior to the May 23rd NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Series Opener.

NAPA Auto Parts will return for their twentieth consecutive year as the lead Thunder on the Hill Racing Series Sponsor. Other sponsors on-board for the coming season include Vertical Wave Telephone Systems, Pioneer Pole Buildings LLC, Lee Myles Transmissions, BPG/Chad Sinon Motorsports and the Fairgrounds Square Mall.

And don’t forget, the nationally known Amsoil USAC National Wingless Sprints will return to the Grandview Speedway on Tuesday night, June 5 for the 40 lap Jesse Hockett Classic. Also on the program will be the ARDC Midgets with race time set for 7:30 PM. Some say, just watching the USAC wingless sprints time trial at Grandview is worth the price of admission.. Defending winner Bobby East will return to defend his win on the “hill”.

USAC will also be making a stop at the New Egypt Speedway on Thursday night, June 7 in a double-header with the Modifieds. Gates will open at 5 PM with race time set for 7:30 PM.

NAPA AUTO PARTS THUNDER ON THE HILL RACING SERIES

GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY. . . . . . . .. .

VERTICAL WAVE TELEPHONE SYSTEMS TO EXCITE FANS AT 2012 THUNDER ON THE HILL EVENTS, SEIRES TO OPEN WEDNESDAY, MAY 23RD

The 23rd season of the NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series will take the green flag on Wednesday night, May 23 at the Grandview Speedway with the always popular double-header to include the 410 Sprints and the 358 Modifieds. This event will mark the one-hundred and third Thunder event presented at Grandview Speedway.

The 410 Sprints are always a “thrill on the hill” and the May 23rd outing will mark the first race of the Keystone Cup Sprint Series. Expected entries chasing the $5,000 winner’s share include Fred Rahmer of Salfordsville, PA, Greg Hodnett, Chad Layton, Justin Henderson, Lance Dewease, Brian Montieth, Logan Schuchart, Mark Smith, Brent Marks, Daryn Pittman and defending event winner Brian Leppo.

How tough is it to win a 410 Sprint feature at Grandview?

Lance Dewease is a ten time winner at Thunder on the Hill, yet his last win came in 2003. Fred Rahmer owns nine Thunder victories and his last visit to the Thunder Series podium was in 2008. And Greg Hodnett, a four time winner on the hill last parked in victory lane in 2003. Brian Leppo scored his first Thunder win last year and would like nothing more then to duplicate that effort. You just can’t make mistakes at Grandview, especially with the 410 sprints turning laps in the eleven second bracket.

The 358 Modifieds will complete in a series of qualifying events all leading up to the 25 lap feature event.

AMSOIL USAC NATIONAL SPRINT TOUR TO OPEN EASTERN SWING AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY TUESDAY NIGHT, JUNE 5

The USAC Eastern Storm Tour is heading east and opening night is set for the Grandview Speedway on Tuesday, June 5 as the NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series continues in its twenty-third season.

If you have never seen wingless sprints, you’ll need to block out the Eastern Storm opener at the Grandview Speedway in Bechtelsville, PA. Some say, the USAC wingless sprints in time trials at Grandview is worth the price of admission as these nationally known stars use every inch of the track, and often the outside boiler-plate when they visit this one-third mile oval. Defending winner, “The Beast” Bobby East will return to defend his win in the Jesse Hockett 40 lap Classic paying $6,000 to the winner.

Grandview Speedway will open the Eastern Storm Series on Tuesday night, June 5 followed by stops at the New Egypt Speedway on Thursday night, June 7, the Big Diamond Raceway on Friday night, June 8 and close out the swing at the always fast and exciting Port Royal Speedway on Saturday night, June 9.

The stars of USAC expected to be part of the Eastern Storm include Levi Jones, current point leader John Stanbrough, Bryan Clauson, Dave Darland, Tracy Hines, Justin Grant, Damion Gardner, Kody Swanson, Bud Kaeding, Casey Shuman and Hunter Schuerenberg, the winner of the 2011 New Egypt USAC event.

Time trials will open the Tuesday, June 5 NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series event that will showcase the AMSOIL USAC Eastern Storm Tour. The USAC wingless sprints will compete in a series of qualifying events all leading up to the 40 lap Jesse Hockett classic. Also on the program will be the popular ARDC Midgets also taking part in a series of qualifying events building up to a 20 lap feature event.

The ARDC roster is expected to include Steve Buckwalter, Nick Wean, Ryan Smith, Brenden Bright, Steve Drevicki, Shawn Jackson, Trevor Kobylzar and Eric Heydenreich.

The USAC Easter Storm at Grandview Speedway will get underway at 7:30 PM with gates opening at 5 PM.

New Egypt Speedway will also present the USAC Wingless Sprints and Big Block Modifieds in a Twin 30’s program on Thursday night, June 7. The USAC wingless sprints will chase a $6,000 payday as the Modifieds duke it out for $3,000 to the winner. The previous two USAC Sprint and Big Block Modified events at New Egypt were definite crowd pleasers and you can expect the same on Thursday night, June 7. Gates will open at 5 PM with race time set for 7:30 PM.

RISLONE URC SPRINT SERIES OPENER SET FOR SATURDAY NIGHT AT DELAWARE INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY

Saturday night at the Delaware International Speedway, the Rislone URC Sprint Series will open their sixty-fifth season of competition, and opening night always brings a high level of excitement.

The event, sponsored by Taylor & Messick will present a series of heat races, a “B” Main and a 25 lap feature event paying $2,000 to the winner. Gates will open at 5 PM with race time set for 7 PM. The URC Drivers & Owners Meeting will take place at 5:30 PM and attendance is required. The meeting will cover the nightly race procedures, teching, payoff and handicapping as well as a review of the 2012 Rislone URC Sprint Series schedule. Drivers will draw for their heat race starting position at this time.

Paul Messick of Viper Venom Fuels is pleased to be back with URC in 2012 and he will offer a free drum of Viper Fuel to the feature winner if they are using the product. The program will be in place throughout the year but is limited to one free drum of fuel per team. Viper Fuel offers 99.99% pure methanol for $135 per fifty-five gallon drum and is available by contacting Paul Messick at 302-757-6918 or by e-mail at sales@vipervenomfuels.com. The feature winner will receive their free drum of Viper Fuel when arranging their next purchase of fuel.

In 2012, URC race teams will have at least two locations to purchase their URC American Racer tires. BFP Specialty & Snookies Speed Parts will both distribute URC sprint car tires this season.

BFP, located in Bethel, PA will be a distributor and they do plan to be on hand at more then a dozen events. Along with selling the official URC American Racer Tire, the BFP Specialty Truck will also offer tear offs, racers tape and brake clean as well as other items race teams may need throughout the year. Tires may also be purchased at BFP during the week and tires will ship from the BFP location as well. BFP is open Monday through Thursday 7 AM to 7 PM, Friday 7 AM to 2 PM and Saturday 8 AM to 2 PM. Contact Jason or Todd Bashore at BFP by calling 717 933 4999.

Snookies Speed Parts located in Milton, DE will also distributed the URC American Racer Tires and will have tires at the track when URC is racing in Delaware. Snookies Speed Parts in a family owned and operated business that has been servicing the local racing community for over 35 years. Snookies operating hours are Monday through Thursday 8 AM to 5:30 PM, Friday 8 AM to 5 PM and Saturday 8 AM to 1 PM. Tires may also be purchased at Snookies by calling 302-684-8466.

The tire deal for 2012 is still another incentive offered to URC competitors. Thanks to American Racer and support from Rislone, URC competitors will be paying an all-time lowest cost for their tires. An American Racer right rear will sell for $159, the left rear for $155 and fronts may be purchased for $138, unheard of pricing for sprint car tires today. .

The excitement for the coming season is plentiful as URC offers their always strong weekly payoff of $2,000 to win and $200 to take the green flag in the feature event. There are eight special events on the schedule that will carry an increased payoff.

Race fans should find some added excitement with URC using a double file restart format in 2012. This change has mixed feelings among the URC teams. Respected URC Car Owner Rick Weller said it best, “There will be nights when it works in your favor, and nights when it works to your dis-advantage”.

Taylor & Messick will be the race night sponsor at Delaware International on Saturday night, joined by series sponsors Rislone, Bar’s Leaks, Fred’s Trailer Parts, MACH1 Chassis, Pioneer Pole Buildings LLC, Brad Penn Oil, Engler Machine & Tool, American Racer, Viper Venom Fuel, i.g. Burton, Brodix and National Parts Peddler.

A very attractive roster of talent is expected to be in the field on Saturday night to include Josh Weller, Ed Aikin, Kramer Williamson, Robbie Stillwaggon, Randy West, Joey Biasi, Davie Franek, Art Liedl, Jonathan Swanson, Joey Biasi, Chad Trout, Tim Hogue, Troy Betts, Ryan Bohlke and Kevin Nagy just to name a few of the drivers very capable of winning the URC season opener.

The “Wild Child” Josh Weller of Mertztown, PA will be in the field when the Rislone URC Sprint Series opens their sixty-fifth season on Saturday night, April 28 at the Delaware International Speedway.

Weller, undecided over the winter months about his plans for 2012 announced today, that they plan to chase the URC Championship Title. Weller finished a strong third in the 2011 Rislone point chase and was in striking distance of the title most of the season. Driving the family owned #63, Josh had one win last year with a career total of four URC wins. 2012 will mark the eighth season with URC for Josh Weller.

Sponsors riding with the Weller URC sprint car include Assured Automation, Phillips Garage, CnB Mushroom, Shearers Sales & Service, RFG Water Heaters, Hunter Peterbilt Truck Sales and BDU Incorporated. Rick Weller will be car owner and crew chief joined by his wife Kim, Tina Weller (Josh’s wife), Chris Swoyer and Bobby Gash who will make up the all-important crew.

“We plan to run for the championship and to do that we need to finish well and avoid tearing up equipment”, said Rick Weller when he announced their plans to run URC this season. There is continued talk about URC ‘s move to double file restarts in the coming season. “I have my own opinion about it and it’s different then Josh, who seems to think it could play to his advantage. Rick added, “It’s going to be one of those things that can help you one night and hurt you on the next night, but we’ll have to wait and see”.

Over the past three seasons, Josh Weller has quickly developed into one of URC’s best, a threat for a win and always in the thick of the title chase. He is remarkably fast at one of URC’s most challenging and non-forgiving speedway’s, that being Grandview. As a car owner, Rick Weller is not real thrilled with the one-third mile bull ring, but his son seems to have the place figured out and knows how to get to the front. On the big tracks, Josh is very comfortable and always finds himself in the thick of the action. Although not on the URC schedule this year, Josh especially likes the Georgetown Speedway where the speeds are high and he finds his way around with ease. It’s one of those tracks that you either love it or hate it.

The announcement of Josh Weller returning to the Rislone URC Sprint Series is still another strong endorsement of the organization. The talent filled roster also includes Ed Aikin, Kramer Williamson, Randy West, Robbie Stillwaggon, Chad Trout, Jonathan Swanson, Joey Biasi, Art Liedl, Tim Hogue, Jimmy Stitzel and Andy Best just to name a few. Defending rookie star Troy Betts has signed up for the entire season and URC rookies for 2012 include Chris Glandan, Dan Mazy, Steven Downs and Ryan Kissinger.

URC offers many incentives for the coming season from increased payoffs, bonus money for URC regulars and a well-priced American Racer right rear tire that will be sold for $159. We invite all interested parties to visit the URC website at: www.urcsprints.com and be sure to go to the Competitors Page for all the details. All special events and the weekly URC payoffs are posted as well as the 2012 URC Rule Book.
