HOWARD AND VON DOHREN WIN NASCAR MODIFIED FEATURES WHILE GULDIN COLLECTS HIS FIRST CAREER GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY SPORTSMAN FEATURE WIN
TRIPLEHEADER ACTION AT GRANDVIEW ON JUNE 22 FEATURING MODS, SPORTSMAN AND WINGLESS SUPER SPORTSMAN
BECHTELSVILLE, PA. June 16, 2019 In the Saturday night racing action at Grandview Speedway broadcast by RCN-TV, Allentown later in the week, five-time NASCAR track modified point champion Duane Howard started off the show by putting the Norm Hansell-owned Norm’s Save Station No. 357 in victory lane at the conclusion of the 30-lap TP Trailers NASCAR 358 Modified feature postponed by rain on June 1 for his second win of the season.
It appeared Steve Swinehart, winless since May 2004, was going to claim the win in the first feature only to get bottled up behind a lapped car on the 27th lap. Howard capitalized on the opportunity to sneak through the opening on the backstretch to motor into the winner’s circle for his 74th career win. Howard commented they have a good team with good equipment, but they just have to start showing it to get the results of their hard work.
Craig Von Dohren, behind the wheel of the Pioneer Pole Buildings/Keith Harring Transportation No. 1 C, overtook Ray Swinehart for the lead in the second Modified feature from the regular portion on the 20th lap and proceeded to hold off the continuous pressure from runner-up Kevin Hirthler to garner his third win at the oval. Von Dohren felt his car didn’t feel that fast towards the end of the “interesting” race, but he still got the job done.
TP Truck Equipment Sportsman rookie driver Parker Guldin has been experiencing his share of ups and downs with carburetor and other issues in his first year learning stages at the 1/3-mile oval having been in competition in New Jersey last year where he won two features. Finally fellow Craig Whitmoyer, a rookie in the Modified class, stepped in to help and found the problem for the team. Whatever Whitmoyer did, helped as Guldin regained the lead from Sean Weiss on the fifth lap and later held off the constant challenges of Dean Bachman and finally second place finisher Brad Brightbill. Guldin’s crate powered engine earned him an extra $100.
Providing all feature winners met the necessary requirements, they received monetary awards from TP Trailers and a certificate from VP Fuels for product awards. The Dan’s Deli ½-way hoagie award recipients were S. Swinehart, R. Swinehart and Guldin.
Steve Swinehart grabbed the early lead at the onset of the first Modified feature trailed by Justin Grim, Jordan Henn, Ryan Lilick and K. Hirthler.
The only yellow was on the fourth lap caused when Louden Reimert slowed his pace. Swinehart held his position, but by now Henn, Hirthler, Howard and Jeff Strunk were chasing him.
Lap traffic by lap 17 caused the front runners to use heads-up driving, but Swinehart still managed to maintain the lead.
With five laps remaining, Howard and Strunk moved into second and third respectively to put their bids in for the lead.
On the 27th lap a slower car in the high lane in front of Swinehart allowed Howard to scoot by and become the new pacesetter.
Howard never looked back and went on to capture the victory followed by S. Swinehart, who endured a heartbreak at a chance for victory; last week’s feature winner Strunk, Henn, for his best finish and K. Hirthler.
Steve Wilson, another rookie, took the early lead at the drop of the green in the second Modified feature.
Wilson held the lead until Ray Swinehart took over the number one position on the 10th lap.
Behind Swinehart dicing for the remaining positions were Wilson, Hirthler, Grim and Mike Lisowski with the order constantly changing.
Hirthler was challenging his father-in-law for first by the 13th lap with Von Dohren, Doug Manmiller and Grim chasing.
Von Dohren charged into second on the 17th lap to pursue Swinehart and four laps later he was at the head of the pack.
Lap 22 saw Hirthler advance to second and give Von Dohren a run for the money as the side-by-side battle ensured.
Von Dohren succeeded at holding off the competition and chalked up Saturday night win number 108 chased across by Hirthler, Manmiller, Jared Umbenhauer and Howard, the Hard Charger recipient in both features starting 13th and 22nd.
Heats were won by R. Swinehart, Ron Seltmann Jr., S. Swinehart and Wilson. Jordan Henn and Howard won the consies.
Polesitter Sean Weiss led the Sportsman feature until the fifth lap restart created for an incident in the second turn and on the backstretch. On the restart Guldin put the Penny’s Shear Heaven/Oley Feed Mills No. 11 into the lead.
The battle behind Guldin for second through fifth was intense between Dean Bachman, Brad Brightbill, Weiss and Mark Kemmerer, who were just waiting for Guldin to slip-up.
Guldin and Bachman diced for the lead for a while until Brightbill took over second.
Guldin stuck with his “don’t give up” attitude and never faltered to pull into the winner’s circle a very jubilant first time victor followed by Brightbill, Bachman, for his best finish, Weiss and Kemmerer.
Weiss, Guldin and Bachman won the heats.
Here is what is coming next at Grandview. Saturday, June 22nd, Wingless Super Sportsman make their first appearance in a tripleheader that also features the T.P.Trailers NASCAR 358 Modifieds and the T.P.Truck Equipment Sportsman plus the qualifying events for all divisions. Spectator gates open at 5:30 p.m. with racing getting the green at 7:30 p.m. Adult admission for this tripleheader card is just $15 for adults while youngsters under 12 are admitted free.
On Sunday, June 23, 1 p.m. Outlaw Enduro and Blast from the Past Vintage racing action is the attraction.

STRUNK, BRIAN HIRTHLER AND SMITH GARNER NASCAR FEATURE VICTORIES AT GRANDVIEW
BECHTELSVILLE, PA. JUNE 9, 2019 . . . Jeff Strunk, the ten-time Grandview Speedway NASCAR Modified point champion, behind the wheel of the Glenn and Bonita Hyneman-owned/Tabloid Graphics/Teo No. 126 became the new leader on the 14th circuit and went on to capture back-to-back victories in the 30-lap TP Trailers NASCAR 358 Modified feature on Saturday night at Grandview. Strunk also won the Modified feature the last time they had run back on May 25th. The veteran racer commented that the track was to his liking because it was smooth and slippery taking on rubber as the race progressed. The racing activities were sponsored by long time NASCAR supporter Whelen Engineering.
Brian Hirthler, running third, took advantage of the situation when leader Brad Brightbill developed mechanical problems and swung around Ryan Beltz and Brightbill to take over first on the 22nd lap to score the triumph in the TP Truck Equipment 25-lap Sportsman NASCAR feature for his second win of the season in the event rained out June 1
In the regularly scheduled Sportsman feature, Derrick Smith, who hasn’t been in victory lane since August 26, 2017, led from the drop of the green until the wave of the checkered to record his first win of the current campaign.
Providing all feature winners met the necessary requirements, the Modified and Sportsman feature winner got monetary awards from TP Trailers and a certificate from VP Fuels for product awards. The Dan’s Deli ½-way hoagie award recipients were Strunk, Tom Miller and Smith. Both Sportsman feature winners received an extra $100 from the track for running crate engines.
John Willman, out of Modified action for a few weeks due to engine problems, returned and wasted no time resuming the lead from the pole being chased by Mike Lisowski, Ron Seltmann Jr., Kenny Gilmore and Kevin Hirthler.
Within eight laps, Willman had a sizeable lead built up, but by the 10th lap Lisowski was gaining ground.
A second turn tangle involving Clay Butler and Ryan Grim erased Willman’s margin as the yellow was thrown on the 11th lap. Willman’s hopes of a possible victory vanished when he slowed his pace stopping in the second turn. Willman’s loss was Lisowski’s gain since he was the new leader with Strunk in hot pursuit.
The caution was out again when Doug Manmiller found himself shoved into the first turn infield on the 13th lap. On the restart Strunk charged ahead to become the new pacesetter while Lisowski, Gilmore, Timmy Buckwalter and Craig Von Dohren composed the top five.
Von Dohren took over second on the 20th lap restart needed when Butler spun in the fourth turn to attempt to overtake Strunk who had already began distancing himself again.
Despite lapped traffic which sometimes a driver isn’t sure what they’ll do and use heads up driving, it didn’t slow Strunk down enough to allow anyone the opportunity to reel him in to challenge and he pulled into the winner’s circle for Saturday night career Grandview win No. 71. Second was Von Dohren followed by Buckwalter, Lisowski and Gilmore, for his season best finish.
Lisowski, Brett Kressley, Duane Howard and Steve Swinehart were the heat winners. The consi winners were Butler and Dan Waisempacher.
In the June 1st rained out Sportsman feature Tom Miller was the early leader with pressure coming from rookie Parker Guldin, Kenny Bock, Andrew Kreis and Beltz.
The comfortable margin Miller built up was erased when Kreis stopped in the second turn with suspension problems which brought out the yellow on lap 15. Miller resumed the lead with Guldin still trying to grab the lead, but now Brightbill, who started 27th; Beltz and Jack Butler were second through fifth.
Miller held on to first until the 18th lap when Brad Grim came to a half in turn two with heavy smoke billowing from the car. This restart saw Brightbill and Beltz charge past Miller as he fell to third and Guldin lost several positions.
Quick reactions on Hirthler’s part when Brightbill began experiencing problems saw him take advantage of the incident and shoot past Beltz and Brightbill into the lead.
Hirthler continued the pace to pull the 4-Star Lettering No. 117 into the winner’s circle followed by Beltz, Kyle Smith, Brandon Edgar and Grim, who after pit stops under caution got the smoking problem corrected.
These same drivers were ready to try and get into the regularly scheduled feature.
Qualifying heats were won by Smith, Guldin and Joey Vaccaro while Mike Mammana won the consi.
At the onset of the second Sportsman feature a multi-car tangle eliminated Mark Kemmerer, Brad Arnold and Beltz. When action went green again Smith was at the head of the pack being chased by rookies Vaccaro, Aaron Bowes, Nate Brinker with Andy Clemmer rounding out the top five.
The healthy lead Smith opened up vanished after the caution came out on the 13th lap when Kreis spun in the fourth turn. Smith resumed first on the restart but now Bowes, Brinker, Edgar, another rookie and Vaccaro were in pursuit.
Smith, who continued to run the bottom lane “because it felt good down there”, never looked back and went on to claim his second career win. This was certainly a better finish than the first feature since he placed last in that one. They must have found some speed since he commented he never had a fast race car before. Second through fifth were Bowes, Brinker, Edgar and Vaccaro.
The nationally famous Amsoil United States Auto Club (USAC) Wingless Sprint racers will be in action Tuesday night, June 11, in the annual Jesse Hockett Memorial Classic while the NASCAR 358 Modifieds will also be part of the doubleheader action. Gates open at 5 p.m. with racing getting the green flag at 7:30 p.m.
Saturday, June 15 the NASCAR Modifieds will compete in two 30-lap features, the first one being held over from June 1. A full show of qualifying for the Modified and Sportsman division followed by a 25-lap Sportsman will also be part of the show.

THREE NASCAR FEATURE RACES AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY SATURDAY
JESSE HOCKETT USAC NATIONAL NON-WING SPRINT RACE AND MODIFIEDS JUNE 11
BECHTELSVILLE, PA JUNE 5, 2019 . . . Saturday night (June 8) racing action at Grandview Speedway will include three NASCAR feature races. The T.P.Truck Equipment Sportsman will race in two 25-lap features as a result of the rain shortened program from last Saturday. And the T.P.Trailers 358 Modifieds will have 28 of the area’s top dirt track racing talents in action. The night is sponsored by long time NASCAR supporter Whelen Engineering.
Looking forward to the Saturday night action is Allentown radio personality Bobby Gunther Walsh. The WAEB-AM morning radio show host is into his 25th year of Saturday night Modified stock car racing at the Bechtelsville banked clay oval.
“We started out slow. There were mechanical issues and the experimenting with a new rear suspension,’’ said the popular racer. “We have gone back to a traditional set up and are doing much better.”
In recent weeks he has put his #65 Modified (the new number honors his dad who raced the number 65 at the old Moc A Tec Speedway) in front at the end of a couple of qualifying heat races and the last time out, before the rains came, he finished second to five time track champion Duane Howard.
“The car, carrying the main sponsorship of LVPG Orthopedics Dr. Eric Lebby and Dr. Thomas Dibenedetto along with more than two dozen sponsors, is more consistent and that makes me more optimistic as we head into the second half of the season,” commented Walsh. “I believe we can have a good season from here on out.”
He hopes the good season gets started on Saturday night.
Racing action gets the green at 7:30 p.m. with the Sportsman feature rained out last Saturday being the first event of the night. That will be followed by a full slate of qualifying events leading into the 30-lap feature for Modifieds and a second 25-lap feature for the Sportsman.
Gates for spectators open at 5:30 p.m. Adult admission is just $15 while youngsters under the age of 12 are admitted free.
The weekly Low Down & Dirty Meet and Greet, starting at 5 p.m. in the main gate area, will feature Modified standout Brett Kressley and Sportsman racer Briggs Danner.
Coming up next at Grandview is the first Thunder on the Hill Series event which will feature the United States Auto Club (USAC) AMSOIL National Tour Non-Wing Sprint Cars topping off their part of the doubleheader show with the $10,000 to win Jesse Hockett Classic. The second part of the night’s racing will feature the 358 Modified stock cars. Adult admission is $30, young people 6 to 11 pay $10 and those really young people 5 and under are admitted free.
Fans are invited to arrive early, 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., and be part of the Low Down & Dirty Meet Greet that will feature Sprint standouts such as Robert Ballou, Isaac Chapple, Tim Buckwalter and Joe Biasi.
Racing on Tuesday night will get the green at 7:30 p.m.
Then on Saturday, June 15th, the T.P.Trailers NASCAR 358 Modifieds will be featured in two 30-lap main events along with a T.P. Truck Equipment Sportsman 25-lapper and there will be a full series of qualifying races.

THE MONTH OF JUNE WILL BE A BUSY ONE AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY
RICK LAUBACH AND BRAD GRIM LEAD THE NASCAR POINT STANDINGS
N.J.WINGLESS SPRINTS INVITED TO RACE IN WINGLESS SUPER SPORTSMAN SHOW ON JUNE 22
BECHTELSVILLE, PA May 28, 2019 . . . With five Saturday nights of NASCAR stock car racing along with some special events the month of June at Grandview Speedway will be a busy one.
On Saturday, June 1, the first time appearance of the Central Penna Legends cars will be part of a tripleheader show that also features the T.P.Trailers Modifieds and T.P.Truck Equipment Sportsman. The good news for fans is that the 7:30 p.m. show will not see a price increase. Adults will be admitted for just $15 while youngsters under 12 will get to be part of the excitement for FREE. This will also be the first of six events seen on RCN-TV at a later date.
The always popular Low Down and Dirty Meet & Greet, set for a 5 p.m. start, will feature Modified standout Craig Whitmoyer and recent Sportsman feature winner Nathan Mohr.
Going into Saturday night’s racing Rick Laubach of Hellertown, PA has taken over the top spot in the T.P.Trailers NASCAR Modified standings with 1499 points giving him an edge of nine points over 10 time champion Craig Von Dohren who has1490 counters. Von Dohren has two wins while Laubach, on his first full season at Grandview, has not claimed a win. Duane Howard, a five time champion, is third with 1310 points and no wins. Brett Kressley, a two feature winner, is fourth with 1293 tallies followed by Frank Cozze at 1283 points.
In the T.P.Truck Equipment NASCAR Sportsman Brad Grim of Coplay, PA continues to sit on top of the standings with 1280 point. Second spot is held by Brad Brightbill with1263 counters and two wins. Brian Hirthler, a past champion, is third with 1232 points and one win.
Whelan Engineering, a longtime supporter of NASCAR, will be the sponsor of the June 8th doubleheader featuring the action packed NASCAR 358 Modifieds and Sportsman.
On Tuesday, June 11, the first of five of the exciting Thunder on the Hill Series events will be presented. The Jesse Hockett Classic will feature the United States Auto Club (USAC) National Wingless Sprint Tour along with the always popular 358 Modifieds. Racing action will get the green flag at 7:30 p.m.
Another doubleheader show of Modifieds and Sportsman will be the attraction on June 15th and will be seen on a delayed basis on RCN-TV.
And on Saturday, June 22nd the popular Wingless Super Sportsman will make their one and only appearance of the season as part of a three division show that will also include the Modifieds and Sportsman. A challenge has been issued with the N.J. Wingless Crate Sprints being invited to come race with the Super Sportsman. That event will pay $1,000 to win.
Outlaw Enduros and Blast from the Past Vintage racers will be back in action on Sunday, June 23rd at 1 p.m.
And another tripleheader Saturday night show will feature the Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series, their second appearance of the season, along with the Modifieds and Sportsman on June 29th closing out the month of auto racing excitement.

STRUNK AND MOHR GET MONKEY OFF THEIR BACK WITH NASCAR FEATURE WINS AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY SATURDAY NIGHT
BECHTELSVILLE, PA. May 26, 2019 . . . After three consecutive weeks of being towed off the track as a victim of circumstances, ten-time Grandview Speedway point champion Jeff Strunk finally got the monkey off his back and parked the Glenn and Bonita Hyneman-owned/Tabloid Graphics/Teo No. 126 in victory lane at the conclusion of the 30-lap TP Trailers NASCAR 358 Modified feature on Saturday night at Grandview for his first triumph of the year.
It was an emotional win for the Boyertown leadfoot as he thanked everyone for the patience and for sticking by him in the roller-coaster ride of the struggling team. It wasn’t a totally drama-free night for them since they were experiencing fuel pump system problems and he was just thankful no cautions came out once he had the lead after several laps of side-by-side racing earlier with rookie Mike Lisowski.
Nathan Mohr also had Lady Luck on his side in and got rid of the gremlins to cop his first win of the season in the TP Truck Equipment 25-lap Sportsman NASCAR feature. The previous week while leading the race, engine problems sidelined him erasing his chance at a possible win. The week the East Greenville driver led from the drop of the green until the wave of the checkered. He had to endure lap traffic and restarts to pull off the win, but he had no easy time accomplishing the feat as first he dueled with rookie Joey Vaccaro, then Kenny Bock and finally runner-up Brad Brightbill.
Providing all feature winners met the necessary requirements, the Modified and Sportsman feature winner got monetary awards from TP Trailers and a certificate from VP Fuels for product awards. Lisowski and Mohr won the Dan’s Deli ½-way hoagie award.
Richie Hitzler, also a rookie, motored into the early lead with another rookie Steve Wilson, Lisowski, Danny Erb and Ryan Lilick in pursuit.
The yellow was out with seven laps in the books when Ray Swinehart slowed along the homestretch after contact with Tim Buckwalter which put him out of contention and Swinehart continued The restart was brought back to the line when Wilson spun between turns three and four and triggered a chain reaction-type multi-car pile-up that eliminated last week’s runner-up Skylar Sheriff, Kevin Hirthler and Clay Butler. When action went green again Lisowski was the new pacesetter trailed by Strunk, Hitzler, Erb and Louden Reimert. A blanket could have been thrown over third through fifth since that’s how close they were running. Trying to get into the mix was last week’s winner Brett Kressley.
Lisowski and Strunk battled side-by-side for numerous laps and it wasn’t until lap 19 that Strunk put the Ray Carroll-powered mount into the lead.
Strunk built up a commanding lead by the 23rd lap, but at the same time encountered lap traffic and had to use heads up driving with the top five now comprised of Lisowski, Kressley, Erb, Alex Yankowski and Doug Manmiller.
No one was able to reel Strunk in to even attempt to challenge and he went on to record Saturday night career win number 70. Chasing him across the line were Kressley, Lisowski, who also had a change of luck; Yankowski, recipient of the Hard Charger award and Manmiller. Sixth through tenth were Erb, Jared Umbenhauer, Ryan Grim, Reimert and Rick Laubach.
Reimert, Von Dohren, Howard and Strunk were the heat winners. Consies were won by Umbenhauer and Craig Whitmoyer.
Sportsman action saw polesitter Mohr pull away quickly leaving rookies Joey Vaccaro and Scott Kohler along with Bock and Derrick Smith dice for the remaining positions.
By the ½-way marker the top five comprised of Mohr, Vaccaro, Kohler, Bock and Andy Clemmer encountered lap traffic.
The first caution of the race was on the 18th lap when Mike Mammana, who had just taken over fifth, stopped in the second turn. It was still Mohr first on the restart with Bock now challenging trailed by Vaccaro, Brightbill and Brad Arnold.
Clemmer brought out the next yellow when he spun along the front stretch. A yuke tire out on the track erased the next restart. A massive tangle caused by an impatient driver trying to advance by rubbing and pushing his way front further voided the next attempt. This action caused the decision to go to a single file restart. It was now a side-by-side battle for first between Mohr, Bock and Brightbill followed by Arnold and Brad Grim just waiting for a slip-up.
Mohr was able to hold off all the competition to post his second career win his last victory being the Summer Splash 40 June 23, 2018. Finishing second was Brightbill, who overtook that spot on the 22nd lap, Bock, Arnold and Grim. Jack Butler, Brian Hirthler, last week’s winner and also the highest finishing crate engine again this week that earned him an extra $100; Ryan Beltz, Kohler and Kyle Lilick rounded out the top ten.
Heats were won by Mammana, Mohr and Kohler. Mark Kemmerer won the consi.
Next Saturday, June 1, a tripleheader card of racing action will be presented starting at 7:30 p.m. Included in the night of excitement will be the T.P.Trailers NASCAR Modifieds, T.P.Truck Equipment Sportsman and the first time appearance of the Central PA Legends. All that racing offered at the same low price of $15 for adults while youngsters under 12 are admitted FREE. Spectator gates open at 5:30 p.m.

VON DOHREN AND BRAD GRIM CONTINUE TO LEAD NASCAR POINTS AT GRANDVIEW
MODS AND SPORTSMAN IN ACTION ON SATURDAY, MAY 25TH
BECHTELSVILLE, PA May 22, 2019 . . . The battle for the NASCAR championships in T.P.Trailers Modifieds and T.P.Truck Equipment Sportsman will continue this Saturday night, May 25, at Grandview Speedway as a doubleheader show kicks off at 7:30 p.m.
Craig Von Dohren sits on top of the standings in the Modified division while Brad Grim has the top position in the Sportsman. However competition is close in both divisions as the racers battle for the lucrative titles.
Two wins this season has allowed Von Dohren, a ten time champion, to hold on to the top spot in the Modified division with 1300 counters while Rick Laubach is just nineteen points behind without benefit of a win. Veteran campaigner Frank Cozze is third with 1153 followed by Duane Howard’s 1130 and Kyle Weiss’ 1049 rounding out the top five.
The last few Modified races have attracted more than 40 entries per night.
Brad Grim has just a 25 point lead over last Saturday’s Sportsman feature winner. Grim has 1061 tallies while Hirthler has 1036. Jack Butler sits in third with 1023 followed by Brad Brightbill at 1016 and Mark Kemmerer with 1011.
On Saturday, June 1, there will be a first time appearance of Central PA Legends racers as they join the NASCAR Modifieds and Sportsman for a tripleheader that will be the first of the season to have RCN-TV coverage.
Featured in the Low Down and Dirty Meet & Greet this Saturday, starting at 5 p.m., will be Modified talent Skylar Sheriff and Sportsman racer Mike Mammana. The two racers will have their race cars on display just outside of the main entrance.
Spectator gates open at 5:30 p.m. Adult admission is just $15 while youngsters under the age of 12 are admitted free.
And coming up on June 8th is Whelen Engineering Night featuring the T.P.Trailers Modifieds and T.P.Truck Equipment Sportsman.
The first Thunder on the Hill Racing Series event, now in its 30th year, is set for Tuesday, June 11th at 7:30 p.m. The night of racing excitement will include the United States Auto Club Non-Wing Sprint Tour along with the 358 Modifieds in the Jesse Hockett Classic. The Sprints will be racing for $10,000 to win.

KRESSLEY AND HIRTHLER WIN NASCAR FEATURES, BUCKWALTER TOPS IN USAC EAST COAST SPRINT FEATURE AT GRANDVIEW
BECHTELSVILLE, PA. May 19, 2019 . . . Brett “The Threat” Kressley, behind the wheel of the Kressley family owned No. 19K, scored his second 30-lap TP Trailers NASCAR 358 Modified feature victory on Saturday night at Grandview Speedway in a down-to-the wire battle with Skyler Sheriff, the leader since the beginning of the event. The pair had several laps of paint swapping battles, but with one lap to go the Orefield based lead foot muscled the lead away from Sheriff and went on to chalk up the win.
Brian Hirthler, who’s regular No. 4 Star was waiting for repairs, borrowed his Brother Kevin’s backup No. 117X with a crate engine in it and won his first TP Truck Equipment 25-lap Sportsman NASCAR feature of the season. It was the same car Kevin won the opening race in. Brian received an extra $100 from the track for being the highest finishing driver with a crate engine.
Tim Buckwalter, doing double duty driving Modifieds and Sprints piloted the GEI-owned No. 5G to victory in the 25-lap Rapid Tire USAC East Coast Sprint Cars feature. It was just the second time for Buckwalter in the car.

More than 100 cars took part in the three division show.
Modified action saw Sheriff motor ahead of rookie Steve Wilson, Ron Seltmann Jr., Ron Kline and Mike Laise at the start of the race to set the pace for the 31-car starting grid that included provisionals taken by Craig Whitmoyer, Jeff Strunk and Craig Von Dohren.
The yellow was out when Bob Trapper Jr. slowed in the fourth turn with ten laps completed. Sheriff was still the leader on the restart, but now Seltmann Jr. was second and when he put in a bid for the lead he was taken high into the first turn marbles. He stayed out of the wall, but fell back several positions.
By the 13th lap restart needed when Buckwalter slowed in turn two, Kressley, 13th-place starter, advanced to second to pressure Sheriff for the top spot.
Behind Sheriff and Kressley waiting for a slip-up were Duane Howard, Ron Kline and Jared Umbenhauer.
The red was thrown on the 23rd lap after Frank Yankowski hit the third turn wall with heavy impact and had flames coming out from underneath his car which was extinguished quickly. Alex Yankowski was along the third turn inside berm with both out of contention. Sheriff held his line when action resumed, but not he had to contend with Howard, who was in the runner-up spot making his presence known.
Sheriff and Howard exchanged paint on occasions and with five to go Kressley was back in second with Howard, Umbenhauer and now Rick Laubach in pursuit.
The battle for the lead continued between Sheriff and Kressley with neither one giving an inch as the race progressed. Both drivers swapped lanes several times, but the outcome remained the same.
Coming around for the one to go signal Kressley made a bold move and managed to take the lead away after using every inch of the track to find a way around.
Kressley didn’t give Sheriff another chance to regain the lead and pulled into the winner’s circle for his 11th career win. Following him across the line for his best finish was Sheriff trailed by Howard, Umbenhauer and Laubach. Sixth through tenth were Frank Cozze, Mike Laise, Von Dohren, Ryan Grim and Doug Manmiller.
Steve Wilson, Sheriff, Buckwalter and Bobby Gunther Walsh won the heats. Consies went to Kyle Weiss and Louden Reimert.
For the third straight week, ten-time point champion Jeff Strunk failed to finish the race.
Derrick Smith led four laps of the Sportsman feature before Brad Brightbill slowed with a flat tire in the first turn for the yellow. On the restart Nathan Mohr jumped into the lead to take control of the race.
It didn’t take Mohr long to build up a sizeable lead over Smith, Mike Mammana, Kyle Lilick and Nate Brinker.
Lap 13 was certainly an unlucky won for Mohr as his car seized up bringing him to a halt in turn two bringing out the caution. Mammana, who inherited the lead, wasted no time staying in front of the pack when action went green again with Smith, Brinker, Hirthler and Lilick in pursuit.
Hirthler overtook second on the 17th lap and set his sights on Mammana and the lead.
The lead changed hands for the fourth and final time on the 22nd lap when Hirthler overtook first.
Hirthler, whose contact in his right eye shifted earlier in the race and he had to rely on his left eye until it moved to a comfortable spot, never looked back once he was in front and proceeded into victory lane for his fourth career win. Mammana, Smith, Lilick and Brinker chased him across. Ryan Beltz, Brad Grim, Jack Butler, Brad Arnold and Brightbill rounded out the top ten.
Heats were won by Mohr, Mammana and Josh Adams. The consi went to Butler.
Joey Biasi led the USAC Sprint feature for four laps before Buckwalter charged to the front of the pack.
Chasing Buckwalter for numerous laps were Biasi, Carmen Perigo, Ryan Quackenbush and Steve Drevicki.
Quackenbush’s strong run ended when he slowed on the homestretch to bring out the seventh lap caution. It was still Buckwalter ahead with Chandler Leiby joining the mix.
Drevicki was on the move as he went from fourth to second in one lap to take chase after Buckwalter.
No one was able to reel Buckwalter in to challenge and he went on to take the checkered followed by Drevicki, Perigo, Biasi and Leiby.
Perigo, Biasi and Buckwalter won the heat winners. Zach Burd picked up the consi win.
Next Saturday, May 25, a doubleheader show of NASCAR T.P.Trailers Modifieds and T.P.Truck Equipment Sportsman closes out the month of May as the battle for the NASCAR titles goes on. Racing starts at 7:30 p.m. Adult admission is $15 with youngsters 11 and under admitted free. Spectator gates open at 5:30 p.m.
