Port Royal, Pa. – Jeff Geiges of Hamilton, New Jersey, bested a 48-car field of RaceSaver 305 sprints to pick up the $1,000 victory in Saturday’s third annual Keystone RaceSaver Blue Collar Classic at Port Royal Speedway.

Tyler Bear of Elliottsburg, who entered the night tied with Jeff Miller Jr. for the point lead in the track 305 sprint series, started second and led the first lap of the Blue Collar Classic for the 305 sprints over fourth starter Adam Carberry of Bensalem. A slowing car on the frontstretch brought out the caution flag just as the first lap was put in the books. .

Carberry stayed right with Bear following the restart but as the laps started to click off, Bear began to pull away. A lap six caution flag brought Carberry back to Bear’s bumper.

Sixth starter Jeff Geiges powered under Carberry to take second on the restart. Logan Wagner –a 410 sprint car regular this season – passed Carberry for third as well during a rare 305 sprint start since moving out of the ranks for the bigger 410 sprint cars. .

The caution flag flew on lap 12 for a two-car crash in turn four, placing Geiges right on leader Bear’s bumper for the new green.

Geiges got a good restart and drove under Bear in bold style for the lead entering turn one . Wagner followed him by and into second but once in front, Geiges began to build a big lead.

After starting 14th in the field with his 2014 title hopes handing by a thread as Bear began at the front of the event, Jeff Miller Jr. raced into the top five with 10 laps to go as Geiges was in command of the field.

As Geiges raced under the white flag, the caution flag flew when defending Blue Collar Classic champion Jake Waters slowed to a stop entering the third turn.

On the restart, Geiges went low and Wagner went high in turn one, but then the red flag flew for a hard frontstretch crash involving Eric Parker and Roger Irvine. Both men were transported to a local hospital for evaluation.

Wagner put the pressure on Geiges on the final lap, but the New Jersey driver would hold on for the $1,000 win.

“I can’t believe it; this is huge,” said Geiges.

“To come out to central Pennsylvania and to be able to compete and beat these guys; this is legendary country. We had some problems Friday night, but we fixed it. Today, everything went perfect. My crew worked their butts off this weekend to get it faster and faster. The set-up was right, the motor was just struggling. I tried to be as smooth as I could. I’m going to relish this. It’s awesome.”

Wagner settled for second.

“There’s a lot of tough guys here tonight,” said Wagner. “My car came in a little bit too late. I’ve got to thank Rod Ort for letting me run this deal.”

Miller Jr. put on a terrific drive on the final lap after restarting two spots back of Bear to get by Carberry for fourth and then to nip Bear at the line for third, thus giving himself the 2014 track crown by the narrowest of margins, just five points and .17 seconds.

“I was a little scared starting 14th, but I knew we had a good car,” said Miller.

“Last night didn’t go the way I wanted it to, but we worked all night and got it done. This thing came on at the end. This is all I ever wanted to do was win a championship in a sprint car especially at Port Royal Speedway.”

Bear and Tyler Reeser completed the top five. Carberry, Shawn Kirkpatrick, Ken Duke Jr., Jordan Thomas and Cliff Brian rounded out the top 10.

Heat races for the 48-car field of 305 sprint cars were won by Anthony Fiore, Bear, Carberry, Geiges, Ryan Stillwaggon and Kirkpatrick. Colby Dice and Brian won the consolations.

Derrick Bowersox of Milton won the non-qualifiers Founder’s Cup race for the 305’s and is a guaranteed starter for next year’s event Classic a main. Cale Reigle, Reed Thompson, Erin Statler and Scott Ellerman were in the top five

DAMION GARDNER GOES WELL PAST THE 200-MPH BARRIER IN SPRINT CAR AT BONNEVILLE!

(Concord, CA, September 9, 2014) The "World's Fastest Sprint Car Driver," Concord, California's Damion Gardner, saw nearly two years of dreams and hard work come to fruition when he broke the 200-MPH barrier not once, but two times in a sprint car at the Bonneville Salt Flats on Monday. Not only can he be called the "World's Fastest Sprint Car Driver," but now the slender racer can also be called the only driver to go 200-MPH in a sprint car.

After a "shakedown" run of 190-MPH on the famous Utah salt surface on Sunday, the table was set to make sprint car history on Monday. Gardner started off the dramatic day with a sizzling pass that produced a speed of 194.19901 early in the morning. It was his fastest ever pass at Bonneville. The crew then realized history was in its grasp and it was time to go for it.

Gardner's second run of the day proved to be the one dream's are made of. He blistered the salt and by mile two, his speed was 199.44424. He was within arm's reach of the coveted 200-MPH. One mile later, he did it! At the three mile mark he was at 202.25408 and his exit speed was 202.38426.

Those who are acquainted with Damion Gardner know that he will not quit pushing and rather than rest on his laurels at 202.38426, he wanted more. The area was being pestered by some light rain followed by cross winds that caused some concern, but Gardner went back out and he obliterated the 202 run with an amazing pass of 205.47318.

205+ and it is not over yet. Instead of packing up the car and the tools and heading home, Gardner and the crew are headed back to the salt for some more passes on Tuesday to wrap up the three days of wonderful speed history. Full details on today's exploits with be forthcoming this evening or first thing Monday morning, but here is a little hint. Gardner just went 211.58844 on his first run of the day!

You can see and meet the "World's Fastest Sprint Car Driver" this Saturday night when he returns to the cockpit of the Mark Alexander #4 in the USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series at Perris Auto Speedway.

Everything, including the historical 205-MPH pass is being shot for an exciting documentary titled, "The World's Fastest Sprint Car." The made for TV production is being written, directed and produced by Surf N' Sprint and will be shot by the award winning racing specialists from LoudPedal Productions. You can take a sneak peek at the documentary at the following link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gp1JvkD9aaI&feature=youtu.be

"If you only go to one race this weekend the ARDC / TSRS show at Gransview this Sunday is the show not to miss. They put on a great show. You will not be disappointed. Check out the video of the closing laps of the TSRS feature the last time they were at Grandview; and the ARDC feature is always worth the price of admission." .... WheelsofSpeed

FINAL OPEN WHEEL SPECTACULAR OF THE 2014 SEASON SET FOR GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY SUNDAY

BECHTELSVILLE, PA August 25, 2014 . . . The third and final Open Wheel Spectacular of the season is on tap at the Grandview Speedway this Sunday evening as the Hilborn Tri-State Race Saver Sprint Cars (TSRS) and the wingless midgets of the American Racing Drivers Club (ARDC) return to the high banks of the Grandview Speedway for another double header of open cockpit competition.

Only one driver - Adam Carberry of Bensalem, PA - has been able to claim repeat wins in TSRS action this season. Carberry was the race winner of the first Open Wheel Spectacular in June and recently picked up his second win of 2014 at the Bridgeport Speedway. Karl Freyer, Mike Haggenbottom, Kyle Reinhardt, Dave Brown, Kyle Purks and the winner of the July Open Wheel Spectacular, Jeff Geiges - are all looking to make a return trip to Victory Lane. Carberry raced Tim Tanner for the win in June. Geiges won a three way battle when he took the lead from Haggenbottom with two laps to go. Purks, Haggenbottom and Geiges swapped the positions throughout the final six laps in a race that came right down to the checkered flag at the end of twenty-five laps.

Steve Buckwalter has won both of the ARDC Midget Sunday night feature events. However, it has been the Collegeville, PA driver, "The Phenom" Alex Bright who has been on a streak in recent ARDC action. Bright leads the midget field with five wins, including wins in four of the last five ARDC events. Steve Buckwalter has three wins while Steven Drevicki continues to lead the points in ARDC action with his pair of wins. PJ Gargiulo and Tim Buckwalter each have one win a piece this season.

Both feature events promise twenty-five laps of open wheel action from the green to the checkered and feature the top performers from a series of qualifying events for both divisions of competition.

Fans will have a chance to meet with several competitors before the racing action gets underway on Sunday. The team from Low, Down and Dirty internet radio will present a Meet & Greet to begin at five o'clock near the entrance to the grandstand. Eddie Wagnner and his #70 and Stephanie Stevens and her #20 will be on hand to represent TSRS while 2013 ARDC Champion, Trevor Kobylarz and the R/T Racing #1 and Danny Stratton with the Steward #33 will be on hand to represent ARDC. These drivers will pose for pictures, sign autographs and be available to answer questions before they head back to the pits to prepare for the night's racing action.

Racing will get the green flag at 7:30 p.m. Adult admission is just $15 while youngsters 6 through 12 pay $5 and kids under 6 are admitted free.

It's the night before the Labor Day Holiday and a great time to come out and experience the action that everyone is talking about - the Open Wheel Spectacular at the Grandview Speedway.

Filling out the Labor Day weekend at Grandview is the Saturday night tripleheader sponsored by Bernheisel Racing Components and will see the BRC Late Models run in a special 30-lap feature with more than $5,000 worth of special products being shared by all Late Model racers that carry the BRC decals on both sides of the car. The NASCAR 358 Modifieds and Sportsman will also be in action. Just two point events remain in the season before the huge Freedom 76 Classic takes place on Saturday, September 13 and that one pays $25,000 to win and features the best dirt track modified racing talents in the area.

The Saturday night action gets the green at 7:30 p.m. with adults admitted for just $15 while youngsters 12 and under are admitted free.

Additional information on racing at Grandview is available at 610.754.7688 or check in at www.grandviewspeedway.com and Facebook.

HENDRICKSON PICKS UP SECOND BIG BLOCK MODIFIED WIN OF THE SEASON

The "Flying Farmer", Wade Hendrickson, drove the Pondish 358 small block powered #6 to a second feature win in the Spirit Dodge Big Block Modified feature event on Saturday night. 2013 Bridgeport Rookie Champion, Ian Humphreys raced to a flag to flag win in the 811 Dig Safely Crate/Sportsman Feature event while Alex Bright picked up another win in American Racing Drivers Club (ARDC) action on the quarter mile track.

It was Hendrickson's second win in the last four weeks of racing. The driver from Lawrenceville, NJ has learned to read the race track and his competition, waiting patiently for the track conditions to come to him. "These guys go so fast at the start of the race," Hendrickson explained, "With the track watered before the feature, they can go so fast and it builds up a lot of heat. That works in my favor in the late stages of the race."

Tom Maccherone and Kyle Hieber paced the Big Block Modifieds to the start of the twenty-five lap main event. Hieber quickly took the lead at the wave of the green but Maccherone powered back underneath the Big Block rookie to take the lead. But neither driver would be credited with leading the first lap as Roco Infante drove to the inside of both competitors to take the lead on the first circuit. As the field came around to complete lap two, Maccherone and Dominic Buffalino split to either side of Infante with Buffalino taking the lead. After starting tenth, Buffalino was the race leader at the end of two laps.

Buffalino's advance to the front came as no surprise to anyone as the Sayreville, NJ leadfoot was the fastest car on the track all night. Buffalino set the fastest lap times in both warm-ups and his heat race - the only car to break the twenty-one second mark. His fastest lap in the feature was again 20.839 seconds.

Buffalino set a torrid pace in the caution free laps, stretching his lead over Infante through lap sixteen. Hendrickson was waged in a three way battle for second as Ron Roberts made it three wide in turns one and two on lap seventeen with Hendrickson taking over the runner-up spot. 2012 Bridgeport Track Champion, Rick Laubach took over third one lap later.

With five laps to go, Buffalino led with Hendrickson closing. Laubach ran third followed by Roberts and Infante.

One lap later, Laubach slowed on the backstretch with a right rear flat on his Benton Electric #7, bringing out the first caution of the race. Laubach pitted for a tire change and returned to restart in the rear of the field on the single file restart with just four laps remaining.

With Hendrickson on his bumper, Buffalino led the field in search of his first win of the season. Hendrickson looked to the outside on lap twenty-two but Buffanlino prevailed. On the next lap, Hendrickson powered by Buffalino as the pair raced down the backstretch. Hendrickson led the final two and a half laps to take the win over Buffalino. Tommy Beamer rallied in the closing laps with the Thornton #31 to finish third. Jimmy Horton raced his way to fourth after starting sixteenth. Roberts culminated a strong run with a fifth place finish.

2013 Rookie Champion, Ian Humphreys overcame a season full of disappointments as he earned his first win in the 811 Dig Safely Crate/Sportsman twenty lap main event. Humphreys led from the green to the checkered, surviving several complete restarts before even one lap could be scored. Justin Lilick, a recent graduate of the DA's Auto Body & Repair Rookie class of 2014, finished second. CJ Jones raced his way to a third place finish followed by Frank Holmes and Jesse James Bonaduce.

Collegeville, PA driver, Alex Bright led a field of ARDC midgets on the quarter mile track to pick up his second win of the 2014 season in ARDC competition as the wingless midgets returned to the Bridgeport Speedway after an absence of several seasons. It was deja vue for Bright who won his very first ARDC midget feature on the Bridgeport quarter mile. Trailing Bright across the line was his younger brother, Brenden Bright in second. Current ARDC point leader, Steven Drevicki finished third followed by Bruce Buckwalter Jr. and Nick Wean.

The fifty lap 8 Cylinder Enduro capped off the evening of racing with the win going to "The Animal", Mike Baldwin.
