New Egypt Speedway Ready For Season Opener
358 Modified Debut; Double File Restarts Set To Excite Fans

New Egypt, NJ (April 5, 2013) – New Egypt Speedway is ready for the start of their point-paying season with the debut of the 358 Spec Small Block Modified division set for Saturday, April 6th. After much anticipation throughout the off-season as to how the 358 Modified class would take shape, fan favorites Billy Pauch, Ryan Godown, David VanHorn, Willie Osmun, Tad Cox, Bobby Drayton, Tommy Farrell, Rick Holsten, John Stangle, Doug Ostwald, John McClelland, Jimmy Blewett, Neal Williams, Gary Butler, and Ron John Koczon have all confirmed they will call New Egypt home for 2013. Former Sportsman standouts Tim Apgar and Rocco Infante are set to make their Modified debut and compete for the 2013 New Egypt Speedway Modified championship as well. Running 358 Modifieds part time this season will be New Egypt Late Model driver PJ Oliver and New Egypt Sportsman driver DJ Ruppert. Joining the 358 Modifieds on the schedule are the Sportsman and Street Stock divisions.

Pit gates will open at 1 p.m. on Saturday for all cars who have not gone through their tech inspection. Front gates will open for fans at 4 p.m. The first 1,000 paying fans will receive a mystery coupon envelop to bring back on their next visit that can be good for $2 off general admission, a free t-shirt, a free pretzel from the Snack Shack, a free general admission ticket, a free hat, a free $40 pit pass, or a 2-seater ride. The mystery envelop must remain sealed and brought back to another 2013 Saturday night event where it must be opened by track staff to be valid. If the envelop is unsealed it WILL NOT be accepted.

There will be a MANDATORY driver’s meeting at 4 p.m. with the draw for heats taking place immediately after. Hot laps will start at 5:15 p.m. with the first green flag at 6 pm. Adult admission is $20, seniors 65 and older $18, teens 12-15 are $10, and children 11 and under are FREE. Pit licenses can be bought at the back gate from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.

New Egypt Speedway is also revising their double file restart policy to help enhance the excitement we deliver to our fans each Saturday night. Double file restarts will take place in all feature events until there are five laps remaining. The policy used to stop double file restarts with 10 laps remaining in the feature. This new change will help ensure the excitement of each feature event down to the last remaining laps.

TURKEY DERBY PRACTICE SET FOR THIS WEEKEND (NOV. 17 & 18)
AT WALL STADIUM

WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. ~ Stock car racing teams planning to compete in Turkey Derby XXXIX at Wall Stadium on Thanksgiving weekend can prepare this Saturday and Sunday (Nov. 17 and 18) during two paid practice sessions hosted by the third mile high banked paved speedway. Each practice session will run from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. and is open to competitors from divisions competing during the season ending classic. Although each will be a paid session for competitors, the grandstands will be open so that fans can witness the practices free of charge.

Turkey Derby XXXIX is a three day Thanksgiving racing tradition set for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, November 23, 24 and 25) during the daylight hours. On November 23, practice will start at 8:30 a.m., while qualifying will start at 12:30 p.m. and feature racing will begin at approximately 2:15 p.m. On November 24, practice will start at 8:30 a.m., with qualifying set for 11:00 a.m. and feature racing set for approximately 1:00 p.m. On Sunday, November 25, practice will start at 11:00 a.m. with main event action set for 1:00 p.m.

Of special interest will be an appearance by Wall Stadium favorites Ray Evernham and Wally Dallenbach, as they debut the completely restored No. XL-1 Modified stock car on Saturday. Of importance to the Jersey Shore community, which was stricken by Hurricane Sandy just a few weeks ago, will be a collection of money and gift cards for the area’s relief fund. Program Dynamics President Steve Barrick recently announced that his publishing company will donate $1 from every Wall Revue program magazine sold during the weekend to the effort.

RAY EVERNHAM TO REUNITE WALLY DALLENBACH WITH LOST ORIGINAL XL-1 FOR LAPS AT HISTORIC TURKEY DERBY AT NEW JERSEY’S WALL STADIUM SPEEDWAY

MOORESVILLE, NC – The legendary pink-and-white XL-1 (Experimental Lincoln Number One) 1937 Ford Coupe modified that dominated at race tracks throughout the Northeast 50 years ago, is making a long-awaited return to New Jersey’s Wall Stadium Speedway on Nov. 24 with original driver Wally Dallenbach back behind the driver’s seat.

Shortly after Dallenbach and “Gentleman” Joe Kelly drove the Don House- and Al Gehrum-built XL-1 in 1962, it disappeared from the Northeast racing circuit. The XL-1 was discovered rusting next to a junkyard filled with vintage auto parts in rural Halifax, VA.

New Jersey native and former Wall Stadium champion Ray Evernham came to the rescue, acquiring the historic car in 2011 and restoring the rusted remains to its original luster and running condition. Now, Evernham will reunite the restored XL-1 with Dallenbach and return it to its former stomping grounds at Wall Stadium Speedway.

WHO: Evernham, former Wall Stadium champion, three-time NASCAR championship crew chief, former NASCAR team owner and current and ESPN analyst, and Dallenbach, legendary New Jersey modified and open-wheel driver.

WHAT: The return of the world’s only remaining original XL-1 to Wall Stadium, where it competed 50 years ago. The car was recently rescued and restored by Evernham.

WHERE: Wall Stadium Speedway
1803 Highway 34 South
Wall, NJ

WHEN: 39th Annual Turkey Derby
Saturday, November 24, 2012
Noon XL-1 unveiling with Evernham and Dallenbach behind main grandstands 1 p.m. XL-1 driven by Dallenbach and No. 19 Ford Probe modified driven by Evernham to lead parade lap of vintage race cars by the Garden State Vintage Stock Car Club
1:30 p.m. XL-1 driven by Dallenbach to pace the field for the Tour Modified feature

MEDIA OPPORTUNITIES: Media are invited to cover the unveiling of the XL-1 and interview Ray Evernham and Wally Dallenbach about the restored racing legend. Photographers and broadcast media will have access to the infield to shoot the cars for the parade lap and pace lap.
