WEIKERT’S LIVESTOCK UNVEILS TITLE SPONSORSHIP OF PORT ROYAL SPRINT CARS
Posted by: | CommentsPort Royal, Pa.... Weikert’s Livestock of Fairfield has taken ownership of title sponsorship of the 410 sprint car division at Port Royal Speedway as was announced Saturday night at the track.
Synonymous with sprint car racing in the annals of history, the famous family business now in its third generation of ownership has proudly partnered with the track to fly the Port Royal sprint car flag.
“We’re awful proud of what we do and what we’ve accomplished,” says Weikert’s Livestock owner and president Todd Weikert of the day-to-day operations at the multi-million dollar firm.
“And we’re just as proud of Port Royal for what it’s become over the last five years and a stronger relationship with Port Royal just makes good sense for us,” Weikert says.
In late April, Todd Weikert announced in conjunction with Port Royal officials that the annual, prestigious Bob Weikert Memorial will expand to a two-day format at the historic oval in 2016, spanning the Memorial Day holiday weekend.
The Weikert name rose to prominence on the back of the famed Weikert’s Livestock No. 29 sprint car during the decades of the 1970s, 80s and early 90s.
With the car campaigning from coast to coast including at Port Royal, experiencing unprecedented success, Bob Weikert’s forays in the sport laid groundwork for the current prosperity being experienced at Weikert’s Livestock.
Weikert’s Livestock buys and sells cattle from coast to coast with more than 50-percent of its clientele placed west of the Mississippi.
“A big part of our clients are race enthusiasts,” says Todd Weikert, “It’s a network.”
In addition to the commerce they conduct in the livestock trade, the firm also owns and operates some 600 acres of farmland in south central Pennsylvania.

CAMERA & AUTOGRAPH NIGHT AT BRIDGEPORT ON SATURDAY
First Poker Series Event for Quarter Mile on Sunday
The Bridgeport Speedway has a lot planned this weekend for its loyal race fans!
On Saturday, Bridgeport fans will have the opportunity to get up close and personal with their favorite drivers at the Bridgeport Speedway as the track hosts Camera & Autograph Day! Drivers from the Spirit Dodge Big Block Modifeds, Stewart Stainless Crate/Sportsman, Pennco Tech Outlaw Stocks, D.A.'s Auto Body & Repair Rookies and the competitors of the Hilborn TriState Race Saver Sprint Car series will be on hand behind the main grandstand to meet their fans before the night's racing action gets underway.
The Big Block Modifieds, Crate/Sportsman, Outlaw Stocks and Rookies will compete in a regular Saturday night program while the TSRS Sprint Cars run in their first event of the 2015 Poker Series sponsored by Bethman Auto Parts/Champion Tire & Bruce's Speed Shop. Bob DeVault was the winner of last year's Poker Series contest for TSRS and came close to winning the first TSRS event of the 2015 season. DeVault will be competing against the likes of multi-year TSRS Champion, Mike Haggenbottom, Adam Carberry, Tim Tanner and many others.
Rick Laubach has started out the 2015 season the same way he ended 2014 - in Victory Lane. Laubach is the first repeat winner in the Big Block Modifieds after winning the South Jersey Shootout as well as the Saturday night season points opener at Bridgeport just a week ago. But there are plenty of talented drivers and fast cars who will challenge for the win on Saturday including past champions Ryan Watt and Wade Hendrickson. Dominick Buffalino has been in the thick of the hunt every week so far and is knocking on the door for his first win of the season along with Richie Pratt, Jr., Dave Hunt, Travis Hill, Sammy Martz and a host of others.
The first green flag waves at 6pm on Saturday.
The Poker Series on the quarter mile track opens on Sunday with the 270 & 600 cc Micro Sprints, 4 Cylinder Enduros, Slingshots and Stage 1 Modifieds. Plenty of action of all divisions on the track within a track! Racing will get underway at 5:30 on Sunday.
