Rain Stops New Egypt After Qualifying

New Egypt, NJ (April 28, 2012) – Rain showers that were forecasted for late night on Saturday moved into the New Egypt area with just one lap remaining in the Modified consolation event, forcing the postponement of all of the scheduled feature events. With Twin 20 lap Modified features on the schedule, along with features for the Sportsman and Outlaw Stocks still remaining, speedway management waited for an hour before the persistent rain forced them to call the rest of the show.

All four feature events, the two 20-lap Modified features, the 20 lap Sportsman main and the 20 lap Outlaw Stock feature, will be run as extra bonus events during regular Saturday shows in the near future. An announcement will be forthcoming soon as to exact dates for each race. The one lap of the Modified Consi that is remaining will be run the same night as the first 20 lap feature make-up.

The HCI/SpikeNGo Rookie Sportsman did get their 8 lap feature in the books as Will Trstensky of Flemington, NJ won for the second straight week.

Trstensky took the lead on lap 2 from Lauren Emmons and went on to win by 4 car lengths over point leader Matt Carman. Mike Carman finished third again, keeping his streak of finishing in that position in all four events held so far.

In Modified qualifying, the three heat races run for the 33 cars on hand were won by Billy Pauch, Tim Tanner and Tad Cox. Willie Osmun was leading the B Main when the race was stopped due to the rain. Sportsman heats were captured by Rocco Infante, Jeff Marcucci and Mike Hendershot with Ryan Anderson winning the B Main. In Outlaw Stock action heats went to Bill Liedtka, Vern McLaughlin and Jarrod Burdge while Everett Taylor raced home first in the Consi.

Next Saturday night, May 5th, New Egypt Speedway presents Downs Ford night. Racing will feature a full card of Big-Block Modifieds, Crate-1 Sportsman, FASTRAK Late Models, the Tri-State Race Savers 305 Sprint Cars and the HCI/SpikeNGo Rookie Sportsman.
