Hodnett Masters Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series At Williams Grove Speedway
MECHANICSBURG, Penn. (May 4, 2018) Wheeling the Trone Outdoor/Lealands.com No. 27 to a $4,000 score with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by Sawblade.com, Pennsylvania's Greg Hodnett dominated the 11 Oaks Farm Battle of the Groves at Williams Grove Speedway.
"Anytime we can win at this point is great for us," chuckled Hodnett. "We've been struggling this year so it's great anytime we can come out and compete. These guys are the best of the best in this type of racing. Mark [Smith] can go anywhere and win, and guys like Sam [Hafertepe] being a past champion, he's excellent so I'm just proud of this team."
The fifth winner in just as many events in 2018, Hodnett earned the FSR Radiator and Racing Products High Point Driver of the Night through the combination Heat/Qualifier format to position himself on the pole of Saturday's 25-lap A-Feature.
"We were lucky enough to position ourselves up front and take advantage of it and that was huge with the rubber coming in towards the end where there wasn't much passing. Everything went our way with this car just because we never got into traffic because of the yellows. Every time we came up on something, I would like it was going to get hairy because I didn't know what I was going to do, but everything just fell into place."
Working to slower traffic on Lap 10, the race's first caution flew for the No. 29 of Jason Shultz whose rear axle snapped rolling down the backstretch. Reverting to the last fully completed lap, Mark Smith tried to build a run on the No. 27 but would be denied as Steve Buckwalter went after Smith for second. Unchanged in the top-three, the cautions lights blinked on again on Lap 12 for Blake Hahn who came to a top in turn-four.
Rolling to green, the race at the front was for fifth as Lucas Wolfe set sights on Wayne Johnson. Finally getting a break for the fifth spot, on Lap 18, the following lap was Wolfe's last for the night as the left sideboard peeled off the wing of the No. 5w. Putting Johnson back to fifth, the final restart was not enough for anyone to get a run on Greg Hodnett, who sped away to a 1.082-second advantage at the drop of the checkered flag.
Mark Smith second was joined on the podium by Steve Buckwalter. Grabbing fourth, Sam Hafertepe, Jr. has taken over the point's lead with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by Sawblade.com by 17 points. Completing the top-five was Wayne Johnson.
Chad Layton in sixth was tracked to the checkered flag by New York's Jason Barney. Picking up seven positions, Washington's Trey Starks was Friday's CP-Carrillo Hard Charger. Johnny Herrera crossed ninth with Davie Franek tenth.
A field of 46 drivers from 15 states, Australia, and Canada was on hand on Friday night's 11 Oaks Farm Battle of the Groves opener. Five Heat Races went to Johnny Herrera, Mark Smith, Jason Barney, Ryan Smith, and Chuck Hebing. A trio of Qualifiers was topped by Sam Hafertepe, Jr., Lucas Wolfe, and Greg Hodnett. Two B-Features went to Chuck Hebing and Seth Bergman, with Seth tearing from 11th to win the second B-Feature. Two provisional starts were utilized by Blake Hahn and Matt Covington.
The 11 Oaks Farm Battle of the Groves continues at Selinsgrove Speedway on Saturday, May 5, 2018, with racing getting underway at 7:00 P.M. (ET). More information on Selinsgrove Speedway can be found online at http://www.selinsgrovespeedway.com.

HOHENWALD, Tenn. (April 28, 2018) On the road to shake down his car before the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by Sawblade.com heads for Pennsylvania, Mark Smith picked up a cool $2,000 at Tennessee National Raceway with the ASCS Mid-South Region on Saturday night.
The debut of the ASCS Mid-South Region at the Tennessee National Raceway, Smith worked through a Heat and Qualifier format to position the Optilumen LED Lighting No. M1 on the pole of the night's 25-lap feature event. Chased by Blake Hahn, the Griffith Truck and Equipment No. 52 grabbed the lead for a moment in the early laps, but would be shuffled back to second as the caution flew.
Unchallenged from there, Smith clicked off the 25th lap a half straightaway ahead of the field.
Blake Hahn would hold onto to finish second with Johnny Herrera moving to the final podium step after starting sixth. Moving up from 10th, Cody Gardner claimed fourth with Brian Bell scoring the Stealth Recovery Hard Charger of the Night with a run from 15th to fifth.
Harli White crossed sixth with Ernie Ainsworth seventh. Howard Moore, Justin Webb, and Curt Terrell made up the night's top-ten.
The ASCS Mid-South Region rolls again on Saturday, May 12 with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by Sawblade.com at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark.

Posted by: | CommentsMatt Covington Victorious In Lucas Oil ASCS Debut At Paducah International Raceway
PADUCAH, Ky. (April 27, 2018) Using every inch of banking at the Paducah International Raceway on Friday night, Oklahoma's Matt Covington parked his T&L Foundry No. 95 in Victory Lane in the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by Sawblade.com debut at the Western Kentucky oval.
"I had a great time racing here and we had a really good car. This is my kind of track with the high banks and the wall all the way around. I like to get up there and lean on that wall and tonight we just had really good speed. We've had good speed all year. We knew if we just kept doing what we were doing, it would pay off and it is," stated Matt.
With Chick Magnet Motorsports CEO, Josh Hegwood, joining the Covington/Graves Motorsports team in Victory Lane, the native of Knoxville, Iowa was all smiles with checkered flag in hand, "I think Josh has been with me for about five years, but this might be the first time he's actually got the chance to be in Victory Lane to be in the picture with me"
Covington's sixth career win with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by Sawblade.com, the 25-lap feature began from the third starting spot. Holding the position through the first start, the red flew before the field could complete the lap as race leader, Scott Bogucki, flipped in turns one and two. Scott was unharmed.
Rolling back to the green with Carson Short and Mark Smith now on the front row, the Mach Chassis No. M1 bolted to the point with Matt Covington making it three wide through the first and second turns to grab second from the No 21x. Chasing into traffic, Covington began to diamond the corners of the three-eighths-mile oval. Working the sixth lap, Covington worked past Smith for the point. Exchanging slid jobs with Covington able to answer on each occasion, the No. 95 would eventually start to pull an advantage as traffic became heavier.
Pulling to nearly a straightaway advantage, the race for the second spot heated up with Tony Stewart running down Smith as the pair worked through traffic. Getting to the runner-up spot on Lap 16, the caution flew as the field worked the following lap. Reverting to the last fully completed lap, Covington returned to speed with a pair of lapped cars between himself and Stewart.
With the advantage of clean air, Matt Covington quickly grew his advantage to over a half straightaway at the checkered flag. Tony Stewart held onto second with Mark Smith picking the final podium step. Moving through from 13th, Seth Bergman worked his way to fourth, and with it, took over the top spot in the 2018 series standings by a dozen points. Earning Friday's CP-Carrillo Hard Charger of the Night, Wayne Johnson advanced position 10 times to round out the top-five.
Matching Johnson's passing total, Blake Hahn followed the No. 2c to sixth from 16th. Making his first feature start with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by Sawblade.com, Carson Short crossed seventh with Howard Moore eighth from 18th. Tim Crawley and Morgan Turpen completed the top-ten.
With a field of 33 drivers checking in at Paducah International Raceway, the field was split into four Heat Races with Tony Stewart, Johnny Herrera, Mark Smith, and Matt Covington picking up wins. The night's BMRS B-Main went to Mason Daniel. Provisionals were utilized by Travis Rilat and Harli White.
Next stop for the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by Sawblade.com is Williams Grove Speedway on Friday, May 4 and Selinsgrove Speedway on Saturday, May 5. Both are co-sanctioned with The Capital Renegade United Race Club. Wayne Johnson Masters ASCS Red River At Creek County Speedway
Posted by: | CommentsWayne Johnson Masters ASCS Red River At Creek County Speedway
Bryan Hulbert - SAPULPA, Okla. (April 20, 2018)... Picking up Friday's $2,000 top prize, Oklahoma City's Wayne Johnson was superb in slower traffic at Creek County Speedway with the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Red River Region presented by Smiley's Racing Products.
Johnson's fifth career victory with the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Red River Region presented by Smiley's Racing Products, the Outlaw Wings No. 2c took the green from the fifth starting spot. Rolling runner-up on Lap 14 after a multi-lap battle with Sean McClelland, traffic brought race-long leader, Matt Covington, into view.
Maneuvering through the low line into turn-one on Lap 17, Johnson pulled even with Covington but was denied the position. Swinging momentum through turns three and four, Wayne stuck to the top through the first and second turns to take the top spot away from the A-Rock Materials No. 95.

Slowed working Lap 19, the restart rolled to the last fully completed lap with Johnson pulling away in clean air for the win. Matt Covington held on for second with Sean McClelland holding off the ferocious charge of Kyle Bell and Joe Wood, Jr.
Seth Bergman crossed sixth with Kyle Clark moving to seventh from 14th. Following from 15th, Blake Hahn took eighth with Andrew Deal ninth from 18th. Making his first start behind the wheel of an ASCS machine, Cannon McIntosh came through the B-Feature to finish 10th.
The American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Red River Region presented by Smiley's Racing Products rolls again on May 4 at Heartland Park Topeka and May 5 at Lucas Oil Speedway with the Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps.

Brady Bacon Victorious With Lucas Oil ASCS At Texas Motor Speedway
FT. WORTH, Texas (April 7, 2018).. Making his first trip to Victory Lane at the Texas Motor Speedway, Oklahoma's Brady Bacon notched his 14th career win with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by Sawblade.com at Tony Stewart presents the Vankor Texas Sprint Car Nationals.
"This was great to race here this weekend. I'm from Oklahoma originally but I don't get to race down here close to home very much so this was special having my parents and some of my life-long friends here. I just wish my wife could and kids could have been here but I'm sure they were watching," stated Brady on his win in the Sawblade.com No. 28x.
Having to thrash on the car after the Heat Race due to a failed Steering system, it left little time to focus on setup, but nevertheless, Brady tore through the field from seventh to pick up the win.
"We had to change the steering gear, pump, box, just everything but these guys busted their butts and got us back out there," explained Brady. "I just have to thank James Cooper for the opportunity to run his car and thankfully we were able to put it all together and get the win. It's always good to get one this early in the year."
Three attempts at the green as a false start was followed by a red for Wayne Johnson, who was unharmed after flipping off the second turn, the chase was on at the front of the field as Sam Hafertepe, Jr. led the way over Tony Stewart and Seth Bergman.
Quickly into slower traffic, things went awry in an instant for Hafertepe while working Lap 7 as evasive action to avoid a crash was not enough. Going over another driver's right rear tire, the No. 15h flipped into the turn-four wall. Sam was unharmed but unable to continue.
Avoiding the crash, Tony Stewart positioned his Rush Truck Center No. 14 at the front of the lineup. Steadily pulling away after the restart, traffic came into the picture just after the 10th lap. Working past Seth Bergman for the runner-up spot, traffic would play to the advantage of Brady Bacon as the No. 28x blasted into the lead on Lap 13.
Caution on Lap 15 as a line came apart on the power-steering of Bergman's No. 23, the restart put Sammy Swindell in the mix with Tony Stewart as Bacon turned up the heat. Steadily pulling away, the race for second went to Swindell as Stewart slowed with mechanical issues on Lap 21 that sent the No. 14 to the Pits.
Remaining under green the remainder of the race, Brady Bacon ran to the checkered flag 2.171 seconds ahead of Sammy Swindell with Johnny Herrera coming up to round out the podium in the Mesilla Valley Transportation No. 45x. Racing through the first B-Feature, Travis Rilat stormed ahead 13 positions to earn the CP-Carrillo Hard Charger of the Night with Brandon Hanks crossing fifth.
From 18th, Skylar Gee rolled to sixth with Jamie Ball also making moves on the field from 16th to seventh as Derek Hagar crossed eighth. From 21st, Robbie Price found good speed to finish ninth with Roger Crockett completing the top-ten.
Another field of 35 drivers made the call for the second night of Tony Stewart presents the Vankor Texas Sprint Car Nationals. Heat Race wins went to Brady Bacon, Christopher Bell, Brandon Hanks, and Johnny Herrera. B-Features were topped by Matt Covington and Skylar Gee. One Regional Provisional was used by Alex Sewell.

Roger Crockett Strikes First With Lucas Oil ASCS At The Devil's Bowl
Bryan Hulbert - MESQUITE, Texas (March 16, 2018) Rolling into the Devil's Bowl Speedway for the first time in 14-years, Roger Crockett made a 3:00 A.M. mad thrash to finish is Rocket Designs / KPC No. 11 worthwhile as the newly relocated Oklahoma driver picked up his first career victory at the Devil's Bowl Speedway, and seventh with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by Sawblade.com.
"Al Parker got this thing done in less than two-weeks. I wasn't sure when I was really going to be able to run my car, so to be here is amazing," stated Roger. "I left about 10 o'clock in the morning on Friday to get the engine from Al, drove back, then me and Brandi [Crockett] got everything put together. If it wasn't for her and the how fast Al got the engine done, there is no way I could have made this races plus Johnny and Ann [Herrera] helped get our Generator fixed too."
Third, to second in the fourth Heat Race, the move put Roger in the redraw.
Drawing the pole for Friday's 25-lap A-Feature, Crockett assumed the lead only to have a caution bring the field back into formation. Round two, and it was Martin Edwards but again, the start was called back as the red displayed for Robbie Price.
Trailing Martin Edwards on the third drop of the green, Crockett fell to third as Travis Rilat rode a huge run on the cushion to advance from sixth to second through the first two turns.
Keeping the top-two insight as traffic loomed at the race's half-way point, Edwards and Rilat worked a cat and mouse game with Rilat's momentum stripped away as the engine expired under the bonnet of the ShopTheBoss.com No. 1. Advancing Crockett back to the second spot, the No. 11 searched the track as the center groove began coming in.
Inadvertent caution while working Lap 19, the restart saw Roger put the center groove to work.
"He [Martin Edwards] was setting a good pace and running good laps, and honestly, when that caution came out I knew the center was starting to take rubber, and it's just a matter of time," commented Crockett on the restart.
Working in Edwards' tire tracks as the field put Lap 20 in the books, Roger peeled out of line as the pair raced into the third turn. Turning down the track through turn four, Crockett caught the middle to make the race-winning pass.
"I got a really good run off of turn four on the restart, and had enough to work by him on the next lap, but the car was just perfect."
Holding off a restart charge by Sam Hafertepe, Jr. the Hills Racing Team No. 15h held on to finish second with Wayne Johnson peddling seventh to third in the Outlaw Wings No. 2c. Having to race through the night's BMRS B-Feature, Canada's Skylar Gee made his 19th Birthday a happy one; wheeling the Pat Beck Motorsports No. 99 from 18th to fourth to pick up the CP-Carrillo Hard Charger of the Night. Racing from 11th, Oklahoma's Matt Covington rounded out the top-five.
From 14th, Sammy Swindell came up to sixth with Johnny Herrera following from 13th to finish seventh. Blake Hahn eighth was trailed by Harli White and Brodix Rookie of the Year contender, Scott Bogucki, to round out the top-ten.
A field of 31 was on hand to open up the 45th Devil's Bowl Spring Nationals. Four Heat Races went to Martin Edwards, Wayne Johnson, Harli White, and Blake Hahn. The night's B-Feature was topped by Ray Allen Kulhanek. No one needed to take a provisional into the A-Feature.
The 45th Devil's Bowl Spring Nationals continues on Saturday, March 17, 2018, with gates opening at 5:00 P.M and Racing at 8:00 P.M. More information can be found online at http://www.devilsbowl.com.
