Bryan Hulbert - KNOXVILLE, Iowa (August 3, 2018) There was not a fan left sitting on the closing lap of Friday's A-Feature at Knoxville Raceway as the Jason Johnson Racing No. 41 raced to victory on Night 2 of the 28th annual Knoxville 360 Nationals presented by Great Southern Bank with California's Carson Macedo behind the wheel.

Macedo's first career win at the famed half-mile oval, the win is also Carson's first with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by Sawblade.com.

"There at the end, I was just counting down the laps but I'm just so happy for this team. For Bobbi and Jaxx. For Philip and all these guys," said Carson as he was joined by Jaxx Johnson on the top podium step.

"My car was awesome, just anywhere I went even if I slide across the middle, I could still make speed so we just have to build on it and hopefully stay this speed for tomorrow night."

Battling three wide on the opening lap, Cole Duncan won out over Carson Macedo and Wayne Johnson. Caution on Lap 3 for AJ Moeller, just as Macedo got the run for the lead, the restart saw Macedo slip back as seventh starting Joey Saldana grabbed the lead after restarting third.

Moving away from the field, Saldana enjoyed several car lengths as Macedo worked back to the runner-up spot on Lap 6.

Rolling up on slower traffic with the race nine laps complete, Saldana was met with a wall of slower cars. All but stopped entering the first and second turn the following lap, the Rudeen Racing No. 26 had to slide high, leaving the low line open as Carson Macedo took over the top spot.

Hitting the cushion after the pass, the Jason Johnson Racing No. 41 rolled away as Joey Saldana worked to hold onto second as slower traffic again brought the battle to his back bumper in the form of Terry McCarl. Nearly making contact in the final two laps trying to work the slide off the fourth turn, Saldana was able to keep pace over the Searsboro Telephone Co. No. 24.

With clean air and a deep cushion to run on, Carson Macedo raced to the win by 2.546 seconds.

"My car was so stable," stated Carson. "I could just run right over the cushion, turn off, and still be fast. I don't know how they do that, but they made my car really good, so I just had to do the job I was hired to do but I can't say enough for what an honor it is to drive this racecar. To be standing on the same stage Jason did; this wasn't the 410 Nationals, but man. Jason was a hell of a driver so to fill that seat is definitely an honor."

Joey Saldana held onto second, and with that, has earned the pole in Saturday's $15,000 to win A-Feature. Terry McCarl in third will start Saturday's championship event from the same position. Tim Kaeding grabbed fourth with Knoxville 360 Nationals Rookie, Giovanni Scelzi, completing the top five and earning the right of Saturday's front row.

Cole Duncan slipped back to finish sixth with Brooke Tatnell seventh after starting 11th. Harli White in eighth was trailed by Wayne Johnson with Johnny Herrera making the top-ten.

The 28th annual Knoxville 360 Nationals presented by Great Southern Bank concludes on Saturday, August 4 with Hot Laps getting underway at 6:45 P.M. (CDT). The 305cid Sprint Cars will join the card. Bryan Hulbert - MASON CITY, Iowa (July 29, 2018) Drawing the No. 72 pill to start the night didn't stop Sam Hafertepe, Jr. at Mason City Motor Speedway as the Heidbreder Foundation No. 15h captured his fifth win of the 2018 season with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by Sawblade.com.

"I felt like we were pretty good," stated Sam. "I just felt like if we hit our marks and run a straight line around here, we could get in done and we did."

All in preparation for the Knoxville Nationals, the team has been doing several different things to the car with positive results.

"This was all test stuff that we've been trying for the past three to four weeks to get ready for Knoxville. We ran a different wing, different engine, just a lot of different things going on right now, so it feels really good to get the win and hopefully we can bring this momentum into Knoxville. I've never won at Knoxville and I feel like I'm due."

Drawing the pole for the 25 lap affair, the start would have to repeat as contact through the first two turns sent the Sawblade.com No. 28 spinning heavy damage to the front axle.

Underway with Hafertepe out running Chris Martin into the first turn, Hafertepe was set on cruise as the No. 44 held second over Skylar Gee. With multiple lines to choose from, the leaders raced top to bottom past the race's half-way point with Hafertepe gapping the field by a half straightaway.

Moving through some light slower traffic, the change in pace allowed Chris Martin to begin reeling in the No. 15h. Inching closer to Sam, the dynamic of the Global Ag No. 44 began to change. Losing the time he'd made up, Chris was suddenly under fire from Skylar Gee. Racing back and forth for the runner-up spot for a couple laps, the Strongs Crane Service No. 99 took over the position on Lap 16.

Racing to hold onto the third spot, Chris saw his night end abruptly as the car lurched violently into the wall through the fourth turn. Caused by a cut tire, Chris was okay.

Restarting with one lapped car between himself and second running Skylar Gee, the final eight laps again saw Sam race away from the field with Hafertepe winning by 2.999 seconds. Challenged by Wayne Johnson in the final laps, Skylar Gee held on for silver with Johnson in the show position after starting seventh. Blake Hahn crossed fourth with Matt Covington rounding out the top-five.

Getting out on top of a four-car race on the Lap 17 restart, Seth Bergman held onto sixth with Tasker Phillips in seventh. Moving up eight spots, Johnny Herrera was eighth with Harli White and Travis Rilat to make up the top-ten.

Bryan Hulbert - WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. (July 21, 2018) Returning to the famed Riverside International Speedway on Saturday night, local racing legend Sammy Swindell led start to finish for the night's $2,000 prize with the ASCS Mid-South Region.

Wheeling the A.G. Rains owned No. 3 to Victory Lane, Swindell's win is his third overall with the ASCS Mid-South Region and fifth triumph on the season.

With as much as a straightaway on the field at times, a caution working the white flag lap still wasn't enough to give anyone a shot at the wily veteran.

Moving to second on Lap 11, Howard Moore would hold onto the silver position despite the repeated attempts by Derek Hagar who would have the settle for the bronze. Dale Howard in fourth was trailed by Ernie Ainsworth to round out the top-five. Ainsworth was also the night's Stealth Recovery Hard Charger.

Tim Crawley grabbed sixth with Justin Webb in seventh. Brandon Hinkle, Kevin Hinkle, and Rick Kahler made the top-ten.

A couple notes from the night, all driver draw fees were paid by Justin Webb and Southern Coatings. Giving back to the community, Ronnie Pitts Motorsports and Tim Crawley originally planned to raffle off two Backpacks with School Supplies at Saturday's race. With support from across the country, a total of 65 Backpacks were given away at Riverside.

The next event for the ASCS Mid-South Region is Saturday, July 28 with the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Red River Region presented by Smiley's Racing Products at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark.

Bryan Hulbert - GILLETTE, Wy. (July 11, 2018) Taking care of his first top-five, podium, and victory with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by Sawblade.com in one shot, Iowa's Chris Martin led start to finish at Gillette Thunder Speedway on Wednesday night.

Joining Skylar Gee as the second first time winner in as many events this week with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by Sawblade.com, Chris is the 144th winner with the series and 13th different driver to top the National Tour this season.

Holding off early charges from Skylar Gee, followed by several mid and late race advanced from Sam Hafertepe, Jr., the Global Ag No. 44 was able to keep all challengers at bay.

"I knew it wasn't going to be easy. I've been watching these guys for a long time, even before I started racing Sprint Cars and I knew that Sam and Seth were coming. I knew Johnson was going to be there, and my buddy Blake; he's been on a roll, so I knew he'd be coming. Then Skylar Gee's been rolling pretty good lately, so this win is really special. It just feels awesome to be standing here," stated Chris who celebrated with donuts that would make Jesse Hockett smile.

Changing his line throughout the 25-lap A-Feature on a near perfect racing surface, Chris was able to work through slower traffic with ease.

Lapping into the top-ten before the race's first caution while working Lap 18, Chris would restart with a pair of slower cars between himself and the Heidbreder Foundation No. 15h.

With five laps to run, however, that buffer would not be there as the caution flew again. With a run to the inside of the No. 44, Sam would come up shy with a small bobble off the turn-four berm.

Giving Chris breathing room, he was still far from being out of danger as Hafertepe regrouped with a full head of steam. Down into the final laps, Sam would close in but would not be able to steal away the win as Chris crossed with a 0.614-second advantage.

Hafertepe in second was pursued to the line by Seth Bergman, who made up three positions on Lap 18 to get to the third spot. Coming from 12th, Blake Hahn made it to fourth following a multi-lap battle with Wayne Johnson who crossed fifth.

In the battle with Blake and Wayne, the sixth spot ended up going to Travis Rilat with Johnny Herrera in seventh. Skylar Gee ended up eighth with Scott Bogucki and Matt Covington making up the top-ten.

A new destination for the series, the next outing for the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by Sawblade.com will be on Monday, July 16 at Brown County Speedway in Aberdeen, S.D. for the Brandt Professional Agriculture Shootout.

Admission for the Monday affair is $20 for adults with kids 10 and under admitted free into the grandstands. Racing begins at 7:00 P.M. (CDT) in includes IMCA Modifieds and Super Stocks. More information on the track, including direction, can be found at http://www.browncountyspeedway1.com.

Skylar Gee Grabs A Bear Of A Win At Montana's Gallatin Speedway

(July 7, 2018) Becoming the second Canadian driver to score a victory with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by Sawblade.com, Skylar Gee picked a Bear of a night to get it done as the Strongs Crane Service No. 99 led start to finish in the finale of the NAPA Grizzly Nationals at Gallatin Speedway.

The 143rd driver to earn a victory with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by Sawblade.com since 1993, Gee is the 12th different winner and third first time winner on the 2018 season.

Asked what it meant to win his first National Tour event at the Gallatin Speedway and get the chance to stand with Adam the Grizzly Bear, Skylar replied, "This is awesome. I wanted to win this race so bad, I don't think I've ever driven a Racecar so hard in my life. This race is just so cool. I've wanted to do this since they first announced first started this race, so this is like a dream come true."

Joined by his Mother and Father on the front straightaway, the words were few, but Tim addressed the nearly sold-out crowd saying, "I'm struggling for words. I'm just super proud of him. It's awesome to do it here. He won his first ASCS feature here with the Frontier Region, and now he gets to win his first National Tour race here. I'm glad these fans got to see this."

Locked wheel to wheel with Friday night winner, Matt Covington, to open the 25-lap affair the two were inseparable with Gee gaining the advantage as the two cars completed the opening revolution. The race's lone caution on Lap 3 for Jordan Milne, who spun at the exit of the fourth turn, the restarts saw Covington and Wayne Johnson in pursuit. Able to fend off any challenge, Gee laid the right rear to the cushion before finding traffic four laps later.

Moving top to bottom through traffic, Gee continued to pull away from the race for second with sixth starting Blake Hahn moving to the runner-up spot just prior Lap 10. With a distinct bottom and top groove to choose from, Hahn began making up ground on Gee who was mired in lapped traffic. Pulling to within 10 car lengths with 10 laps to run, Gee finally broke into clear race track to again pull away.

Down to the final four laps, Skylar again found himself surrounded by lapped traffic. Threading the needle with inches to spare at times, Gee was able to keep his nose clean with an advantage of 3.041 seconds at the finish. Blake Hahn crossed second with Sam Hafertepe, Jr. rolling from 10th to complete the night's podium. Matt Covington would end up fourth with Wayne Johnson making the top-five.

Travis Rilat peddled his way to sixth from 13th with Kelly Miller, who transferred to the feature via the night's second BMRS B-Feature, picking up the night's CP-Carrillo Hard Charger Award with an impressive drive from 18th to seventh. Harli White ended up eighth with Seth Bergman ninth and Chris Martin tenth.

(July 6, 2018) Picking up his second win of the season with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by Sawblade.com, Matt Covington became the third Oklahoman in as many years to stand with Adam the Grizzly Bear at Gallatin Speedway; winning Night 1 of the NAPA Grizzly Nationals.

"Honestly, I'm a little nervous. You don't think about it when you're out there racing, but now that they've talked to me and the fence is going up, it's a little different," stated Matt as the Grizzly Bear began working towards Victory Lane.

Rolling to the green from the pole, Covington worked the low line of the three-eighths-mile oval only to have Sam Hafertepe, Jr. roar around the cushion through turns three and four of the opening laps to grab the race lead.

"That first part of the race, I really didn't run a good race. I should have jumped up on the top, but I thought the bottom was going to be the place to be early. Sam showed us that it wasn't, then Harli when by so then I jumped up there with them and chased them back down. Sam ended up blowing a tire there towards the end, and luckily we were able to finish those last five laps so we're fortunate to be in Victory Lane."

Racing back and forth with Harli White for the runner-up spot, Covington gained the advantage for second as Hafertepe rolled into lapped traffic with four laps complete. Picking his way around the slower cars, Hafertepe built a comfortable advantage of over four seconds. Held up enough to allow Covington to close the gap just after the race's half-way point, the Heidbreder Foundation No. 15h was still not within striking distance.

Caution on Lap 19 as Johnny Herrera rolled to a stop with a flat tire off the second turn. Lapped cars in the lineup gave Hafertepe a nice four car advantage over Matt Covington. The restart saw Blake Hahn now in pursuit of the T&L Foundry No. 95 for second.

Clicking off Lap 21 however, tire conservation would come into play as both Hafertepe and Hahn saw their right rear tires expire. Moving Covington to the lead with Harli White back to second, the pair raced close the final four laps, but it would be Matt Covington holding on for the win. Scoring her best career finish with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by Sawblade.com, Harli White was joined on the podium by 2017 Grizzly Nationals winner, Wayne Johnson.

Scott Bogucki crossed fourth but failed to report to post-race-tech and was disqualified, moving Skylar Gee into the final transfer spot for Saturday's A-Feature, as well as making him the CP-Carrillo Hard Charger of the night with 10 positions gained. Posting his best finish with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by Sawblade.com, Montana's Trever Kirkland rounded out the top-five.

Seth Bergman crossed sixth with Travis Rilat moving from 10th to seventh. Alberta's Kelly Miller was eighth with Sam Hafertepe, Jr. rebounding to a ninth-place finish despite the flat tire with four laps to go and holds the point's lead by a mere two markers. Recovering from a flat tire as well, Blake Hahn completed the top-ten.

The NAPA Grizzly Nationals at Gallatin Speedway wraps up on Saturday, July 7 with gates opening at 5:00 P.M. and racing at 7:00 P.M. (MDT). Bryan Hulbert - ELMA, Wash. (June 30, 2018) No Brakes, broken right front Shock, starting to Rain, and missing his Hat for a moment before Victory Lane; it didn't matter. No one could keep pace with Sam Hafertepe, Jr. as the Heidbreder Foundation No. 15h stormed to victory in the Fred Brownfield Classic at Grays Harbor Raceway with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by Sawblade.com.

With the rain starting to come down, Sam reflected his fourth National Tour win of the season, "To get the win tonight is awesome. I really felt like we deserved to have the chance last night, and we definitely got the job done tonight."

Having to wrestle the car on the closing lap with the front axle bouncing all over through traffic, it allowed Jason Solwold to close the gap from a straightaway, but it didn't prove enough as Sam found the checkered flag with a 1.080-second advantage.

"We had the same thing happen a couple races ago. It's actually happened a couple time this year with the shock coming off and Brake Lines coming off, I honestly thought about pulling in there on Lap 18. Just didn't have any brakes so if someone had crashed in front of me, we could have run right through them. Fortunately, it didn't happen, and we were fortunate to be able to start out front with clean air and limp it home. We had a really good car, just couldn't flex our muscle at the end like we wanted too with the problems we had,"

Green for two revolutions, the race's first caution flew on Lap 2 as Logan Forler and Greg Hamilton came to a stop along the front stretch. Both able to return, Hamilton's night came to a quick end as the No. 96 flipped off the second turn. Greg was unharmed. Pulling away on the restart, Hafertepe found the back of the pack in a matter of laps. Putting several lapped cars in the mix, the caution flew again while working Lap 11 for Kyle Miller.

Chased by Henry Van Dam to the caution, the No. 33v would not see the checkered flag as the rear brakes erupted into flames. Henry was unharmed as Jason Solwold took over second. Under green, Hafertepe again pulled to a comfortable advantage. Losing several car lengths in traffic on Lap 16, Jason Solwold would filter the slower traffic to one between himself and Hafertepe as the caution lights came on again on Lap 18 for the spun No. 44 of Chris Martin.

Diving the low line on the restart, Solwold was unable to get a run. Green until Lap 23 for Garen Linder who stopped off the fourth turn, the restart put Solwold with Joey Saldana in tow from 10th. Keeping pace on the restart, it only took a couple laps for Sam to begin pulling away as Joey Saldana battled to hold third from Austen Wheatley with the position finally going to the No. 45.

Working into traffic at the white flag flying, Hafertepe was not to be denied. Jason Solwold held onto second with Austen Wheatly, Joey Saldana, and Colton Heath to make the top-five.

Charing through the field from 22nd, Matt Covington was the night's CP-Carrillo Hard Charger with a run to sixth. Jared Peterson seventh was trailed by Logan Forler who picked up 10 spots over the 30 lap affair. Making the best of a provisional, Skylar Gee moved from 24th to ninth with Chase Goetz crossing in 10th.
