KEVIN HIRTHLER AND RANDY STOUDT BECOME THREE TIME NASCAR FEATURE WINNERS ON INGERSOLL RAND NIGHT, BRAD ARNOLD GETS HIS FIRST CAREER VICTORY AT GRANDVIEW
BECHTELSVILLE, PA JULY 12, 2015 . . . For the third time this season veteran racer Kevin Hirthler was able to wheel the Pioneer Pole Buildings/ Green Lane Wm.Penn/4 Star Lettering No.117 to victory in the 30-lap Ingersoll Rand Night feature for T.P. Trailers NASCAR 358 Modifieds at Grandview Speedway on Saturday night. Defending BRC Late Model champion Randy Stoudt drove to his third win of the season in the 25-lap main event for the BRC Late Models wheeling the J&H Automotive No. 10. Young Brad Arnold drove the family owned WEEU sponsored entry to his first career win in the 25-lap Sportsman feature. All of the racing action was videotaped for later showing on RCN4 cable television.
All feature winners received monetary awards from T.P. Trailers and an Ingersoll-Rand Tool Kit valued at $600 plus if they were running VP Gas and met the necessary requirements were awarded product awards.
On Saturday, July 18th Hatfield Quality Meats, a long time sponsor of racing at Grandview, will have their mascot on hand to shoot t-shirts and Hatfield hot dogs into the stands. Early arrivers will be able to sample the new Hatfield “Dry Rub” tenderloin and fillet. Mascot “Smiley” will be on hand to say hello to fans and pose with feature winners during the evening.
The Hatfield Meats sponsored night will include T.P.Trailers NASCAR 358 Modifieds, BRC Late Models and Sportsman stock cars along with the popular Blast from the Past Vintage racers with racing starting at 7:30 p.m.
Hirthler is still running his car from last year since he’s not quite satisfied with the new car after hitting the wall earlier in the season. Upset with his second-place finish last week to Craig VonDohren in the 30-lap T.P. Trailers NASCAR Whelen Modified feature he was determined to do better this week.
By the fourth lap of the feature Hirthler advanced into second from his seventh-place starting grid and put on a torrid side-by-side battle with polesitter Ryan Kunkle for first.
The lead was swapped on the seventh lap as Hirthler was in front of the pack. The real action for positions behind him was hot and heavy between Kunkle, Danny Erb, Bobby Gunther Walsh and Ryan Grim
It didn’t take long for Hirthler to outdistance himself leaving Kunkle, Erb and now Duane Howard in a three-way battle for second. Back further it was bumper to bumper for positions between Tim Buckwalter, VonDohren, Gunther Walsh and Grim with everyone determined to advance.
Hirthler, bidding for his third win of the year, approached lap traffic by the 21st lap and with his fellow competitors’ nose to tail that gave him more leeway. He approaching the back runners heeding the move over flag and as he realized they were racing for positions as well.
Once Hirthler was in command there was no looking back because no cautions were needed to regroup the field to give him a run for the money. At the drop of the checkered Hirthler once again credited fellow driver Rick Laubach for his help. Chasing him across the line for his best finish since returning to action full time was Erb trailed by Howard, VonDohren and Kunkle, who posted his best finish ever. Tim Buckwalter, Jeff Strunk, Gunther Walsh, Grim and Kyle Weiss completed the top ten.
Hirthler, J. Strunk and John Willman won the heats. The consi was won by Ray Swinehart.
In the BRC NASCAR 25-lap Late Model feature Stoudt, shut out last week, won his third feature of the year. Even though he started on the pole and led from start to finish there were some tense moments in the later stages when he experienced brake issues, but still managed to hold off runner-up Chuck Schutz.
Stoudt motored the J&H Automotive No. 10 out quickly leaving Lou Egrie Jr., Cory Merkel, Kory Fleming and Kyle Merkel behind.
C. Merkel, while running fourth, stopped along the backstretch out of contention for the seventh lap caution. Stoudt maintained first, but he had to fend off Egrie Jr.’s challenges as the pair raced side-by-side for several laps.
Egrie Jr.’s fine run ended on the 12th lap when he spun in turn two. Stoudt continued his pace, but now pressure came from Fleming, Schutz and S. Merkel as they were embraced by their own race for second which gave Stoudt some space.
No one was able to catch Stoudt, the defending point champion that came out of retirement, and he went on to chalk up his 66th career win. Finishing second was current point leader Schutz followed by S. Merkel, Fleming and Dave Ogin. Sixth through tenth were Joe Fanelli, Dan Green, Wayne Pfeil, Bill Henning and Steve Wilson.
Heats were won by C. Merkel and Stoudt.
The NASCAR 25-lap Sportsman feature saw Brad Arnold, who switched to the division after running Modifieds last year, motor the WEEU 830 Radio entry to the outside of leader Mike Lisowski, who he dueled with fiercely for numerous laps and regained the lead on the white flag lap. Arnold was close on numerous occasion to scoring his first career win, but this time he was successful and hung on for the triumph.
Mark Kemmerer led for three laps until Lisowski overtook the lead.
With Lisowski now ahead Kemmerer, Ryan Beltz, Arnold and Dean Bachman vied for the remaining positions.
Arnold put himself in a challenging spot on the 12th lap and put his bids in for first.
Ken Eckert Jr. stopped in the fourth turn to bring out the yellow on lap 14. On this restart Arnold moved ahead with Lisowski giving him no room to slip-up since he wanted the lead back.
The yellow was thrown for Paul Effrig’s fourth turn spin on the 19th lap. After three attempts to get the next lap completed, Lisowski was back in the lead. That didn’t deter Arnold as he stuck with the high groove trying to regain first. Behind the duo, Kenny Gilmore, Craig Whitmoyer and Brett Kressley awaited a false move.
With one to go Arnold tried to pass Lisowski again and this time it worked and he was on top.
Arnold never surrendered the lead and went on for a well-deserved win. Lisowski hung on for second followed by K. Gilmore, Whitmoyer and Brett Kressley. Rounding out the top ten were Ryan Lilick, Brian Hirthler, Brett Gilmore, Beltz and Brian Kressley.
Beltz, Kyle Lilick and K. Gilmore won the heats. Jason Neidlinger won the consi.

NAPA AUTO PARTS PRESENTS. . . . .
410 SPRINTS & 358 MODIFIEDS IN HUGE DOUBLE HEADER TUESDAY NIGHT, JUNE 30 AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY, GREG HODNETT LOOKS FOR FIVE THUNDER WINS IN A ROW
It was August of 1990 when the famed Black Bandit No. 19 sat in victory lane at the inaugural NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series event at the Grandview Speedway, Steve Smith Sr. would claim the victory. Now, twenty-five years later the younger Smith, Stevie Smith looks to pick up his first ever Grandview Speedway win, when the 410 Sprint Cars come to town with the NASCAR 358 Modifieds on Tuesday, June 30th as part of Pennsylvania Sprint Car Speed Week.
Kicking off the 2015 edition of Speed Week in fine fashion, Smith -- the hired gun of 13-time Speed Week Champion, Fred Rahmer – dominated the evening activities setting quick time and leading each of the 25 A-Main laps. In a victory lane interview, Rahmer was clear that he wanted to claim this year’s Pennsylvania Sprint Speed Week title. Stevie Smith took the win on Friday night over Greg Hodnett.
But at the Grandview Speedway high banks, stopping Hodnett isn’t going to be an easy task – even for the star-filled field expected to be on the Hill Tuesday night. Hodnett, has claimed eight total Thunder victories, including the past four 410 Sprint Car feature events at the Bechtelsville, PA oval – something no driver has done in all of Thunder on the Hill Racing Series history. Hodnett’s ‘drive for five’ is on everyone’s mind, and a Tuesday Night victory for Hodnett would see him tie Rahmer on the Thunder on the Hill All-Time Win list.
While all eyes are on Smith and Hodnett, the door sits wide open for someone to come in and steal the $5,000 top prize – and their first Thunder on the Hill win. That someone could be Gettysburg, PA’s Danny Dietrich – currently sitting third in the Speed Week Points – Dietrich finished 3rd in Grandview’s event last year. Other contenders include: Lucas Wolfe, who almost beat Hodnett last year; Brent Marks, who currently sits 5th in Speed Week points and finished 4th in the 2014 Grandview race; and Alan Krimes, who has a string of top-5 finishes in Grandview sprint car events. Krimes has been so close to winning to that first Thunder on the Hill victory, they can almost taste it. Other entries include Ryan Smith, Lance Dewease, JJ Grasso, Aaron Ott, Brady Bacon, Davey Sammons, Brian Carber, Freddie and Brandon Rahmer, Tim Glatfelter and Ryan Talor.
The 35 Lap 410 Sprint Car event pays $5,000 to win, $1,400 for fifth position, $1,000 for tenth position and $400 to start the feature event.
Things continue to heat up for the 358 NASCAR Modifieds – during the Traffic Jam event Oley, PA’s Duane Howard claimed the victory in dominant fashion with Jeff Strunk, Meme Desantis, Jared Umbenhauer and Doug Manmiller rounding out the top five finishers. It’s a battle for bragging rights and $3,000 when the mighty Modifieds take to the track in 30 laps of three-wide, wheel-banging, boiler plate bouncing action. The 358 Modifieds portion of this show is open to all competitors with heat race qualifying, a consolation and a 30 lap feature. T
Quaker Steak & Lube has upped the ante with a $50 bonus to sprint car heat race event winners, with the stipulation that they pre-register and $125 to all non-qualified 410 Sprint Cars.
Bonus awards for the 410 Sprint Cars include: $100 Quick Time Bonus and an additional $100 if the track record is broken. The current track record is held by Jeff Shepard who clocked a time of 11.433 in May of 2008.
For additional information or to pre-enter, please call 443-513-4456. Drivers should provide their name, car number, hometown and phone number.

VONDOHREN SETS NEW ONE LAP TRACK RECORD. . . . . .
“THEY DON’T CALL THIS THE TRAFFIC JAM FOR NOTHING” STATES RACE WINNER MATT SHEPPARD AFTER DIRTcar VICTORY, DUANE HOWARD TOPS 358 MODIFIED FEATURE TUESDAY NIGHT AT GRANDVIEW
BECHTELSVILLE, PA . . . . . Against the odds of Mother Nature, the NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series presented the eighteenth running of the TRAFFIC JAM for Big Block Modifieds under the sanctioning body of DIRTcar. The NASCAR 358 Modifieds were also on the program that went on even after a few rain showers hovered over the Grandview Speedway. Matt Sheppard of Waterloo, NY, enjoyed a big night at Grandview winning the 60 lap Super DIRTcar Series feature event, earning $6,000 for the win. Sheppard ran a flawless race, first battling with Billy Dunn, negotiating the lapped traffic then holding off a side by side challenge for the lead from Billy Decker on lap 58. Sheppard stated in victory lane, “They don’t call this the Traffic Jam for nothing”, commenting that he raced in traffic most of the feature event. Sheppard took the win in the 60 lap feature that had one caution and was completed in just twenty-minutes. In the 30 lap NASCAR 358 Modified feature, Duane Howard of Oley, PA was the winner after a hard fought battle with MeMe DeSantis. Howard earned $3,000 for the win. Forty nine cars took part in the double header event splitting a total purse of $42,000. A strong crowd turned out despite the variable, threatening and unpredictable weather throughout the day that saw two rain showers pass through after the gates were open.
The ALL MODIFIED, ALL NIGHT of racing started off with Craig VonDohren of Oley, PA setting fast time and in the process, he established a new one lap track record of 14.298 earning a one-hundred dollar bonus. The well prepared racing surface was described by several drivers as being scary fast.
Quaker Steak & Lube offered a $50 bonus to each of the heat race winners. In the Super DIRTcar Series qualifying events, victories went to Craig VonDohren, Ryan Watt and Ryan Godown. The NASCAR 358 Modified qualifying events were won by Brett Kressley, MeMe DeSantis and Jared Umbenhauer.
At the start of the 18th Annual Traffic Jam Ryan Watt was the early race leader with challenges from Billy Dunn from the drop of the green flag. The one and only caution of the feature came on lap two when Larry Wight lost a wheel going down the backstretch. Wright was towed to the pits and unable to restart the race. When green flag racing resumed, Watt retained control of the top spot and opened a slight advantage over runner-up Billy Dunn. Matt Sheppard was racing in third and well within striking distance of the leaders.
On lap ten, Dunn made a bid for the lead but Watt was able to hold the top spot. As Dunn and Watt battled for the lead, Sheppard was inching closer to the top two. Billy Dunn took the lead on lap thirteen followed by Watt, Sheppard who was now being challenged by Decker with Stewart Friesen making up the top five. The action was fast and on lap fourteen, Matt Sheppard motored passed Ryan Watt for second. One lap later, Billy Decker moved into third and the hunt for Billy Dunn was underway.
The battle for the lead was shaping up on lap sixteen as Sheppard was pressuring Dunn for the lead. After a few side-by- side laps, Sheppard powered to the lead on lap nineteen. Decker was on his charge and on lap twenty-two, Sheppard, Dunn and Decker were in a three car race for the lead. Sheppard prevailed as the race leader as Dunn and Decker continued the chase.
At the halfway sign, Sheppard was on top as Dunn and Decker raced side-by-side for second followed by Friesen and Watt.
Billy Decker moved into second on lap thirty-three and now had to chase down the race leader.
Lapped cars were now in the picture for race leader Matt Sheppard. Decker took advantage and began to close in on the leader who had at least a ten car length lead. Stewart Friesen moved to third on lap thirty-eight and now he was chasing down the front runners. Decker moved closer to Sheppard with each lap and with just five laps to go, the crowd was well aware that Decker was within striking distance of the leader. On lap fifty-seven Decker was on the rear bumper of Sheppard with slower traffic weaving ahead.
Off turn four with just two laps remaining, Sheppard crossed the line side-by-side. In turn one, Sheppard drifted high, Decker squared off the corner and took another run at Sheppard using the inside line. Going into turn three, Sheppard was able to put a lapped car between himself and Decker. With just one lap remaining Sheppard needed to drive just one perfect lap. The leader drifted slightly high entering turn three, Decker dove to the bottom lane and with the run off of turn four, Sheppard darted under the checker flag, earning his first career victory in Thunder on the Hill competition at the Grandview Speedway. Decker, a previous Traffic Jam winner finished a well-deserved second followed by Stewart Friesen, Billy Dunn and Ryan Watt.
The NASCAR 358 Modified feature came onto the track and at the drop of the green flag MeMe DeSantis was the early race leader. Duane Howard and Jeff Strunk followed DeSantis but were well within striking distance. On lap seven Howard nosed ahead of DeSantis as they crossed the line, then in turns one and two, DeSantis regained the lead. Howard came back as race leader as they completed lap eight. Side-by-side the Howard and DeSantis show continued to play out as Howard finally settled in as race leader on lap ten. Two laps later, Strunk passed DeSantis for second and now set his sights on race leader Duane Howard.
At the halfway point, Howard held a comfortable lead over Strunk as DeSantis, Jared Umbenhauer and Doug Manmiller rounded out the top five. Also on a charge was Craig VonDohren.
Stealing the show at this point was Doug Manmiller who advanced to fourth on lap twenty-two. One lap later, Manmiller and DeSanits were door-to-door with Manmiller now racing in third. Howard maintained his solid lead over Strunk as Manmiller was closing in quickly on Strunk With just five laps remaining, VonDohren moved into the top five.
With the checker flag waiving, Duane Howard took the win and the $3,000 first place prize over Jeff Strunk, Doug Manmiller, MeMe DeSantis and Craig VonDohren.
The racing program that started with the National Anthem at 7:35 was completed at 10:02 PM.

“THE NATURAL” ADAM CARBERRY WINS SECOND OF THE SEASON AT GRANDVIEW

Tri-State Racesaver Series
.
.
.
.
.
BECHTELSVILLE, PA ....Second generation driver Adam Carberry won his second Tri State Racesaver Series feature of the year on Saturday, June 13th at Grandview Speedway. Carberry’s first win of the season came a few week back at New Egypt when he won the May 9th make-up feature event. The Bensalem PA resident began the race in the sixth starting spot, and quickly took the lead over from Eddie Wagner on lap six, never looking back from that point on. Rounding out the top five was Mike Haggenbottom, Eddie Wagner, Rick Stief and Ryan Stillwaggon.
“We got a win here last year, it seems that we either wreck or win here, but tonight we chose to win,” said Carberry about his usual fortune at Grandview.
There were 26 sprinters on the card for the 25 lap feature event. Three qualifying heat races went to Ryan Stillwaggon, Mike Haggenbottom and rookie racer Joe Kay. This was the second of four appearances made so far that the TSRS sprints are slated to make this season at Grandview, with this being their first ever time being added to the regular Saturday night program.
Eddie Wagner and Tim Tanner Jr. started on the front row with Tanner taking the lead after blasting into turn one and two on the high side. The Bethmann Auto Body number 18 continued to lead Wagner, Carberry, Stief, and Geiges for the first four laps, pulling away by a straight away margin until he came into contact with Samantha Lieberman who spun in turn three and four. Tanner flipped after making contact with Lieberman’s left front tire, bringing the red flag out. Both drivers were okay, but they were unable to continue.
“She just spun, and she didn’t really hold her line. When you spin, you lock you brakes up so you don’t coast down. I don’t know if her engine was still running or what, but she came down about a lane in half, two lanes and I just had now where to go,” described a frustrated Tanner on the situation. “When I realized that she was spinning, I was entering three and I just braced myself because I knew I had nowhere to go”. Tim, who made the transition from Big Block Modifieds to Sprint Cars two years ago, has been a competitive asset to the TSRS series, but this season has been a struggle for him. “I haven’t been able to put it together yet. When my car is good, I can’t seem to get into the redraw to get that good starting spot. And when my car is bad, I end up getting a good starting spot and struggle. What are you going to do though, that’s racing!”.
A single file restart was applied, with Wagner back on the pole leading Adam Carberry, Stief and Brown into turn one. Wagner went to the bottom and Carberry who was making his moves on the top, attempted to pass Wagner coming out of turn two but was unsuccessful due to the number 70 unintentionally shutting the door on Carberry.
“You don’t know anyone’s there until you feel them, I wasn’t far enough next to him (Wagner) anyway so I got out of it and tried it again the next lap and it worked that time,” commented Carberry on the contact with Wagner.
The halfway point was approaching, as was lapped traffic, and Adam Carberry continued to expand his lead by over a straight away over the rest of the field. Two more cautions would challenge Carberry, who perfected his restarts time and time again and after running much of the race on the top of the high banked oval, the bright green number 47 began to work the bottom, continuing to dominate the race.
“To get up to the front I used the top and then I figured at about half way the track would take rubber, and once the track takes rubber that’s pretty much where you got to be to be fast,” he explained.
With the top four cars maintaining their positions, “Mr. Excitement” Mike Haggenbottom made his way to the front, breaking into the top five by lap 15. The fourth and final caution of the night came out for Jeff Geiges, who made contact with the number 70 of Eddie Wagner, jumping his left rear tire after getting a good run going into the first turn, resulting in the Stellitano Heating and Air Conditioning number 77J to spin and hit the turn one wall. Geiges, who made hard contact with the steel outside wall, remained uninjured, but his car could not say the same.
“Two people were going for the same real-estate, that’s all I’m going to say.” Geiges commented shortly.
On the fourth and final restart, Adam Carberry took the green flag and ran away once again, driving in his own time zone for the remaining ten laps of the race. Haggenbottom advanced two spots on the restart after powering hard into turns one and two, now placing him into second over Wagner, Stief and tenth place starting Ryan Stillwaggon. The Belmont’s Garage number 24 was on a mission to catch the leader who was now approaching and dicing in and out of lapped traffic, but was unable to hook on to him for the win.
“This second place is a win for me at Grandview. I probably have about 15 second or third place finishes here. I have never won here, so it would have been nice, but we’ll take the second,” said Haggenbottom. “I liked the top, it was there for the most part of the race, but it went away with about six or seven laps to go. Turn one was not bad, and that helped me on the restart when everyone went to the bottom, but I had to go to the bottom in turns three and four because the top just went away over there”.
Adam Carberry took the checkered flags for the second time at Grandview in his short, but successful racing career. Carberry comes from a large and well known racing family, with his Grandfather Tom being a mechanic on many modified teams back in the 60’s and 70’s, his father Kenny and uncles Tom and Chuck Carberry all former Modified and Sprint car drivers, as well as his cousin Tommy Carberry who also races with Adam in the 305 ranks. He began his career in the 305 sprints four years ago when he was 18 and has won at nearly every track that the TSRS series has raced at.
“I want to thank my crew, my dad, Phil Meisner, Kyle Koellner and my girlfriend Jill for helping me out every week and getting me into victory lane,” thanked Carberry.
NOTES:
Thayer Performance once again provided an added incentive to the customary Bruce’s Auto Body Hard Charger award. The Mercerville, NJ based parts trailer, which is stocked and loaded with Hoosier racing tires, TiLube products, and everything else in-between presented Jamie Kostic with the “Rubber Burning Bonus” right rear Hoosier Racing tire for advancing the most positions in the feature. Kostic advanced eight spots after starting 17th, and finishing ninth.
Adam Carberry set fast time of the feature with a 14.592 lap time, occurring on lap 21.

RAY SWINEHART, BRETT GILMORE AND ADAM CARBERRY WIN A.D.MOYER LUMBER NIGHT FEATURE RACES AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY ON SATURDAY NIGHT
BECHTELSVILLE, PA June 14, 2015 . . . – Last week at Grandview Speedway Ray Swinehart was a runner-up by a wheel over eventual winner Ron Seltmann Jr. This Saturday night the two-time point champion, sporting a brand new car, stepped it up a notch and was victorious by a bigger distance over second place finisher Tim Buckwalter in the 30-lap T.P. Trailers NASCAR Whelen Modified feature sponsored by A.D. Moyer Lumber. Swinehart, who lives for racing commented that “he may be old, but he still keeps digging and sometimes you get lucky.” He admitted he squeezed Buckwalter at one point and hoped he wasn’t mad. Swinehart became the eighth different Modified feature winner of the season.
In Sportsman action the third generation of a Gilmore won the 25-lap NASCAR feature in the name of Brett Gilmore. His father Kenny, who dropped out of the event, won earlier this year and his grandfather Charley Gilmore won several years ago. It wasn’t an easy win for the younger Gilmore since he got by rookie Ryan Shupp coming in for the checkered to score his first career victory.
The 25-lap TSRS Sprint feature was won by Adam Carberry by a sizeable margin over point leader Mike Haggenbottom.
The Modified and Sportsman feature winners earned bonuses from T.P. Trailers and VP Racing Fuels product awards went to the top finishing driver in each stock car feature provided they met the promotional requirements.
Tuesday, June 16, 7:30 p.m. the Thunder on the Hill Series Super DirtCar Series Modifieds 18th Annual Traffic Jam Big Block Modifieds event takes place and will have the Big Blocks featured in 60-lap main event while the 358 Modifieds will go 30 Laps (NASCAR points will be awarded). Trailers NASCAR 358 Modifieds, BRC Late Models and Sportsman. Adult admission is $15 while youngsters 11 and under are admitted free. The weekly Low Down and Dirty Meet and Greet, taking place at the main gate at 5:30 p.m., will feature the Gilmore family along with Sportsman racer Erik Renninger.
Swinehart overtook Todd Smith for the lead on the second lap of the Modified feature and immediately opened daylight over the other 27 competitors.
Mike Gular regrouped the pack on the ninth lap when he stopped on the backstretch. Swinehart held his ground on the restart, but by this time Buckwalter was second making his presence known.
Behind Swinehart and Buckwalter, Duane Howard, Danny Erb and current point leader Craig Von Dohren diced for third through fifth.
Mike Laise spun between the third and fourth turn for the 16th lap caution. On this restart Buckwalter ran Swinehart out of real estate and emerged as the new leader.
It didn’t take Buckwalter long to outdistance himself while Howard, Von Dohren and Danny Erb trailed. Attempting to get into the top five was Meme DeSantis.
The final caution was for DeSantis when he was spun in the second turn and went pit side. This time when action went green, Swinehart made a move on Buckwalter and was back on top. Von Dohren and Howard swapped paint many times while battling for third with Doug Manmiller just waiting for a chance to advance.
The veteran campaigner never relinquished the lead and pulled into victory lane for his first win of the season being shout-out of the winner’s circle since 2012. Buckwalter hung on for second followed by Von Dohren, Howard and Manmiller. Rounding out the top ten were Erb, Glenn Strunk, Don Norris Jr., John Willman and Jarrad Miller, recipient of the Cargo Trailers certificate.
DeSantis, G. Strunk and Kyle Borror were the heat winners. The consi was won by Mike Kellner.
Shupp quickly pulled away at the onset of the sportsman feature and by the sixth lap had a sizeable lead built up. Jockeying for positions behind him were B. Gilmore, Jeff Sechrist, Jason Neidlinger and Brad Arnold.
Sechrist, already a feature winner this year, overtook second with Gilmore trying aimlessly to pass him again.
At the completion of 16 laps Sechrist and Gilmore caught Shupp and a three-wide race for the lead began.
Gilmore was back in second on the 18th lap and began to put heavy pressure on Shupp, who ran the high line while Gilmore stayed low. Lapped cars came into play the closing stages and a few times Gilmore had to back off.
With the checkered flag in sight Gilmore gave it his all coming off the fourth turn and succeeded to pass Shupp for the win. Finishing a very close second was Shupp, for his best outing, followed by Sechrist, Arnold and Brian Hirthler. Ken Eckert Jr., Brett Kressley, Jordan Henn, Craig Whitmoyer, Cargo Trailer recipient and Mike Lisowski, last week’s feature winner, were sixth through tenth.
Heat winners were Lisowski, Sechrist and B. Gilmore.
Tim Tanner led the Sprint feature for four laps before he made contact with the spun car of Samantha Leiberman, who was right in the middle of the fourth turn, and tipped over to bring out the red. Both drivers were uninjured. This incident put Eddie Wagner in first, but he only held the lead for one lap before Carberry took over first.
Adam Carberry kept everyone behind him through the restarts and went on to score the win chased across by current point leader Mike Haggenbottom, Wagner, Rick Stief, Ryan Stillwaggon, Tommy Carberry, Scott Frack, Joe Kay, Jamie Kostic and Jon Haegele.
Stillwaggon, Haggenbottom and Kay won the heats. The consi went to John Barnett.

LISOWSKI WINS 40-LAP SPORTSMAN RACE, SELTMAN JR. EARNS FIRST CAREER NASCAR MODIFIED VICTORY AND RANDY STOUDT WINS ANOTHER LATE MODEL FEATURE AT GRANDVIEW
BECHTELSVILLE, PA. June 6, 2015 . . . Mike Lisowski, behind the wheel of the M&J Construction No. 15, stayed patient and held off the constant challenges of Jason Neidlinger in the NASCAR Sportsman Summer Splash 40-lap feature sponsored by Bashore Trucking/BFP Specialty on Saturday night at Grandview Speedway. Lisowski actually lost the lead to Neidlinger at one point, but regained control and later withstood runner-up Craig Whitmoyer’s bids to collect a $1,500 payday. “My car was tight early in the race, but it got better when fuel burned off,” commented an elated Lisowski in victory lane after posting his second win of the season.
The T.P. Trailers NASCAR Whelen 30-lap Modified feature went non-stop and produced a well-earned career first win for veteran campaigner Ron Seltman Jr. Fighting handling issues all season long, the dedicated crew members stuck with him and had the car in top notch form. The win didn’t come early for Seltman Jr. since he had to deal with lapped traffic and constant pressure from second-place finisher Ray Swinehart, who ironically helps him set up his car, from the 14th lap until the end. Seltman Jr. beat him out by a tire at the line. Seltman Jr. said “the win means more to him than anyone can imagine and in addition to Ray’s help he also thanked defending point champion Jeff Strunk and Mike Gular for their input.”
Randy Stoudt was able to claim his second 25-lap BRC Late Model feature by a comfortable margin over runner-up Dave Ogin, who posted his season best finish.
All three feature winners received monetary awards from T.P. Trailers and also the Dan’s Deli ½-way lap hoagie award. The top finisher in each feature that was using VP Racing Gas earned product awards.
Coming up on Saturday, June 13th at 7:30 p.m. the exciting 305 Winged Sprinters will make their first Saturday appearance of the season at Grandview featuring defending TSRS champion Mike Haggenbottom, recent winner Stef Palmai,Karl Freyer, David Brown Jr. (won a Thunder sprint event earlier in season), Kyle Purks, Mike Kostic Jr., Ryan Stillwagon and a host of others. In addition to the 305 Sprints the NASCAR T.P.Trailers 358 Modifieds and Sportsman will be in action. The night will be sponsored by A.D. Moyer Lumber. Adult admission will be $18 with kids 11 and under admitted free. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. with the popular Low Down and Dirty Meet & Greet with drivers from the Modifieds, Sprints and Sportsman.
Then on Sunday it will be racing action for the Outlaw Enduros and Blast from the Past Vintage racers. Action gets underway at 1 p.m. Adult admission is $10.
In the 40-lap Sportsman event Paul Houseknecht led seven laps before Lisowski charged to the outside for the pass and the lead on the restart needed when Brett Gilmore stopped in the third turn. Neidlinger and Dean Bachman followed for second and third the same time as Houseknecht dropped to fourth and Sean Weiss fifth.
The side-by-side battle for first went on lap after lap with Lisowski on the high side and Neidlinger trying the inside to dive underneath.
Neidlinger managed to make the pass stick for the 22nd and 23rd lap, but Lisowski was back on top the 24th circuit.
A three-way dual for first ensued by the 26th lap between Lisowski, Neidlinger and Craig Whitmoyer with Brian Hirthler and Brett Kressley just waiting in the wins for a slip-up.
Neidlinger, who was having his best run of the season, bounced off the homestretch wall on the 30th lap and kept going, but lost valuable positions.
Behind Lisowski, Whitmoyer, Hirthler, K. Gilmore and Kressley were bumper-to-bumper which gave him some breathing room.
Lisowski kept everyone at bay and didn’t make a mistake to capture the victory. Chasing him across were Whitmoyer, Kressley and K. Gilmore. Sixth through tenth were Neidlinger, Jim Housworth, Erik Renninger, Jeff Sechrist and Paul Kline.
Houseknecht, Sean Weiss and Neidlinger won the heats. The consi went to K. Gilmore.
Seltman Jr. started on the outside pole in the Modified main and quickly charged past Mike Bailey, who is getting adjusted to the car after returning a few weeks ago, to be the new leader on the second lap.
Within a few laps Seltman Jr. opened daylight and was being chased down by Swinehart, Bailey, Jarrad Miller and Eric Biehn.
By the 12th lap Swinehart began to reel Seltman Jr. in as lap cars came into play. Two laps later Swinehart was on Seltman Jr.’s tailpipe and the pair went side by side with neither one giving in.
The race behind them was a heated one between Don Norris Jr., Miller and Bailey. Trying to get into the top five mix were Doug Manmiller, Mike Gular and Craig Von Dohren.
Coming on for the checkered Swinehart gave it his all and made one last effort to pass Seltmann Jr., but fell short by a wheel and 0.035 seconds. Third went to Norris Jr. with Miller, fourth and Gular, fifth to score their season best finishes. VonDohren, Bailey, Manmiller, John Willman and Kyle Weiss rounded out the top ten.
Heats were won by Norris Jr., Bailey and Kevin Hirthler. Nate Christman was the consi winner.
Stoudt led from the wave of the green until the drop of the checkered for his second win in the Late Model feature.
Cory Merkel, while running second, spun in the fourth turn for the fifth lap caution. Stoudt continued his rapid pace on the restart while Ogin, Chuck Schutz, Dan Green and Joe Fanelli trailed. Wayne Pfeil soon joined the thick of the battle.
No one got close enough to Stoudt to challenge him as he was victorious again followed by Ogin, Schutz, Green and Pfeil. Sixth through tenth were Fanelli, Sean Merkel, Kyle Merkel, Mike Wharton and Kory Fleming, last week’s feature winner.
C. Merkel and Stoudt were the heat winners.
