Hamlin, PA -Hamlin Speedway Rocks The Poconos With 8 Feature Event Show

Hamlin Speedway Promoters Randy and Denise Smith were perfect in presentation of their twelfth show of the season on Saturday evening as another eight feature event card produced a great night of racing entertainment. With the weather cooperating fully in what may have been the best weather of the season, a large crowd was on hand and a great roster of driving talent strutted their stuff on the 1/5th Mile clay cushioned oval to perfection. With the season heading into it's final chapter for the 2018 racing season, each event is a "gots to be there" for those with aspirations for a title shot. The evening of speed was sponsored by the good folks at S&S Speedways Indoor Go Karts located in Stroudsburg, PA. (www.ssspeedways.com) Eight winners found their way to the RLE Towing and Recovery Winners Circle at the end of the evening and it marked the initial appearance of the Xcel Chassis 600 Modified Tour event at the Hamlin stomping grounds.

The Saturday night action found new winners emerging in some divisions while some veteran performers were at the top of their game to keep their momentum going. "The Rockaway Rocket" Danny Buccafusca was flawless as he captured his first All Star Slingshot feature in some time wheeling the Gilroy Motorsports hot rod to victory. In only his second start in the division, "Chops" Anthony Chrobak pedaled his way to his first ever win at Hamlin in the Motto Motorsports second entry in the Hampton RV & Trailer Sales Stage One Modified feature headliner. The Super Slinger feature found Jimmy Conroy whistling up his first ever win as he wired the field and held-off a late charge by John Gilroy to collect the win. Stephen Weirich returned to Hamlin after a lengthy hiatus and drove to victory and dominated the event with a wire to wire triumph for his win of the season in the JPA Masonry Rookie Wingless 600 Sprint finale. "The Nickel Man" Joel Smith made a run to the top of the speedway to grab the lead and go on to his first win of the season in the Chad Wheeler Excavating Wingless 600 Sprint headliner. "Lil Miss" Shelby McLaughlin raced to her third win of the season in the Junior Slingshot finale. Paul Richards Jr hopped a ride in the second Macomber racer and dominated all twenty laps as the former division track champion captured the 270 Sprint feature. Flemington, New Jersey's Korey Inglin found the fast lane around the Hamlin Speedway just before the midway point and went on to capture the first ever feature event at the speedway for the Xcel Chassis 600 Modifieds.

Danny Buccafusca grabbed the lead at the start of the All Star Slingshot twenty lap main and quickly found the zone with his fast race car with 13.6 second lap times and dominated all twenty laps of the All Star Slingshot feature. Dale Kober would finish in the runner-up slot with Scott Neary third, Tyler Banks fourth and Austin Silfee rounding out the top five. Tanner Jones headed up the second five with Adam Buchel, Rachel Dickinson, Taylor Mills, Ashley Kober and Mason Pittenger completing the field.

In the Hampton RV & Trailer Sales Stage One Modified run, Evan Civick was the early leader and has been fast for the past month and a half. Jacob Nemeth ran second with Anthony Chrobak third and Joel Smith riding in fourth place. A scramble on the back stretch had cars scattering but all would continue on. Chrobak was able to nestle in behind Civick and watched his every move with Nemeth and Smith very much in contention. Chrobak moved up a lane and pulled even with Civick and the pair would race into turns one and two side by side. Chrobak mustered up the speed and came off of turn two with the lead although Civick made a couple of attempts to regain the lead. Chrobak found the zone he wanted and clocked some 13.146 times to drive away to his first ever win in the division and at Hamlin. Evan Civick was strong throughout to record a fine runner-up finish with Nemeth a solid third, Joel Smith fourth and Jasper Ziegafuse fifth. The remainder of the field consisted of Cody Motto, Anthony Recchio, Tanner VanDoren, Amanda Buchel, Adam Buchel, Jeff Hineline and Joel Price.

The 270 Sprint feature found Paul Richards Jr taking off with the lead at the start and the former track champion drove away from the field with lap times in the 11.8 second range to claim his first win of the season. Newcomer Stephen Weirich had a great night at Hamlin as he was the runner-up in the event after securing a win in the Rookie 600 Main. Alex Reinsmith was third while Glenn Macomber was fourth and Anthony Chrobak was fifth. Kyle Ferrucci suffered early woes and was a scratch for the evening.

The Super Slingshot feature event found Jimmy Conroy with a front row start and a big right foot as he got off to a great start and jumped out to a big early lead. Dale Kober settled into second place and John Gilroy drove from fifth into third. As the laps clicked off, Conroy was in command but Kober and Gilroy would race each other hard to keep pace with Conroy. The pair began to whittle away at Conroy's big lead and Gilroy would drive by Kober and set sail for Conroy. Gilroy clipped off some 13.8 second lap times to close in on Conroy at the finish but Conroy would be the very happy camper in the RLE Towing and Recovery Winner's Circle. Gilroy was a close second with Kober third, Wally Bell fourth and Greg Zellman and David Guest following.

Shelby McLaughlin raced into the lead from her front row start and would lead every lap to earn her second victory of the season at Hamlin. Brain Smith would finish as the runner-up with Joey Kalafut in third, Kasey Hufcut fourth and James Benz completing the top five. The second five found JJ Rice, Aidan Donaldson, Austin Homan, James Hendricks and the birthday girl Charlene Benz completing the top ten positions.

The returning Stephen Weirich led the first seven laps of the JPA Masonry Rookie Wingless 600 Sprint encounter. A hush came over the crowd when Craig Rochelle began flipping down the backstretch and landed in a grinding heap in turn three. The emergency team at the speedway assisted in getting a visibly shaken Rochelle from his wrecked car. Rochelle complained of soreness but otherwise walked away from a very scary incident. When racing resumed it would be Weirich leading but driving into second place was the hard charging Zack Weisenfluh. Weisenfluh would dog Weirich the rest of the way but it would be Weirich earning his first win of the season. Weisenfluh was second with Dennis Stawinsky third, Noah Zielinski fourth and Brandon Nicholas fifth. The second five included Ryan Lacoe, Fred Heinly, Dennis Chamberlain Jacob Eby and Richie Maguire.

Joel Smith took the lead at the start of the headliner Chad Wheeler Excavating 600 Sprint even when he went to the top of the raceway in turn one and lead-footed his way into the lead. Smith would receive pressure from Joseph Smith as the laps clicked off but Joel Smith would lead all of the way to claim his first 600 Sprint win of the season. Joseph Smith was second while Paul Richards Jr, Joe Nemeth and Tyler Lindsay would complete the top five. Mick D'Agostino headed up the second five with Jacob Balliet, Justin Mills, Cody Smith and Pat Bealer completing the top ten.

The Xcel Chassis 600 Modified Tour was a barn-burner from the start. With a stout field of talent showing up for their initial Hamlin encounter, Shawna Schibilia led the first seven laps of the event. A third turn scramble took out Olivia Schmeltzer and Kevin VanValkenburg. On the restart Korey Inglin went to the baseline in turn one and grabbed the lead over Schibilia who in turn tried to take the lead back. As the laps clicked off, contenders began to emerge as the racing was quick throughout the field. A restart in lap fourteen allowed for an all out shootout as Series point leader Richie Hitzler made some great moves to make his way close to Inglin but it would be Inglin finding the history books in the first Xcel feature at Hamlin. Hitzler would finish second while Travis Fichter, Shawna Schibilia and Brandon Graner would complete the top five. Hunter Deihl, Sam Schicchitano, Bailey Boyd, Jasper Ziegafuse,and Dakota Kohler would complete the top ten. A total of 24 cars came out for the initial Xcel event at Hamlin.

PEARL JAMS:

The hotly contested evening of racing entertainment was precise in every step of the way and even with a couple of breaks for track maintenance the staff kept moving the program along swiftly and the eight division show was completed at 10:35 PM. Kudos to Randy Smith for an excellent track surface.

The Junior Slingshot heats were won by newcomer RJ Sherman and JJ Rice. Newcomer Fred Heinly and Dennis Chamberlian captured the heat wins in JPA Masonry Rookie Wingless 600 Sprints. The 600 Sprints ran off two heats with Paul Richards Jr and Joseph Smith claiming the wins. Dale Kober and Danny Buccafusca captured heat wins in the All Star Slingshots. Stage One Modified heats went to Anthony Chrobak and Jasper Ziegafuse. The Super Slinger heat went to Jimmy Conroy and Paul Richards Jr captured the heat win for the 270 Sprints.
Three heats were run by the Xcel 600 group with Korey Inglin, Brian Blankenbillar and Richie Hitzler capturing wins.

Hamlin Speedway Promoters Randy and Denise Smith were perfect in presentation of their eleventh show of the season on Saturday evening as an eight feature event had the small village of Hamlin, Pennsylvania absolutely rocking. A large crowd was on hand as good weather and a great roster of drivers worked the 1/5th Mile clay cushioned oval all night long with moves like Jagger and speed to burn. With the heavy duty rain that fell during the week the track was a tad slower than usual but the racing action was tight and just right for a Saturday evening of affordable entertainment. With the season heading into it's final chapter for 2018, each event is a must for those with aspirations for a title shot. Saturday night winners found Jared Silfee spot on as he captured his first Hamlin win in 2018 in the All Star Slingshot headliner. "TVD" Tanner VanDoren had the hot ticket and heavy right foot as he pedaled his way to his second win of the season in the Hampton RV & Trailer Sales Stage One Modifed feature run. The Super Slinger feature found "The Ambassador" Wes Hearn up to the task as he dominated the action in collecting his fifth feature win of the season. Morgan Rochelle made an appearance at the speedway and sizzled the clay in a wire to wire triumph for her second win of the season in the 270 Sprint main event. "The Zack Attack" Zack Bealer was the factor reactor in his Russ Thornton owned racer as wired the field to score his second straight win of the season in the Chad Wheeler Excavating Wingless 600 Sprint headliner. The JPA Masonry Rookie 600 Sprint division found "The Jersey Express" Dennis Chamberlain with the hot hand as he drove away from the drop of the green to score his first ever win in 2018. "Lil Miss" Shelby McLaughlin was fast from the get go and drove away from the field to collect her second win of the season in the Junior Slingshot finale. He missed the June event but was back in business on Saturday night and "KW Speed" Kevin White worked hard to make it happen in a stellar field of NASCAR Crew Guys to lead the final laps to leave the Poconos with a feature event in the NASCAR Crew Challenge.

Jared Silfee grabbed the lead at the start of the All Star Slingshot twenty lap main and that and a fast race car was all he needed to dominated the action and race to his initial win of the Hamlin season. Hitting 14.2 second laps with precision allowed Silfee to lead the entire event with room to spare. The returning Taylor Mills chased Silfee all of the way but he had his hands full with a determined Danny Buccafusca but it would be Mills in the runner-up role with Buccafusca in third. Troy Langendoerfer and Wes Hearn completed the top five. Heading up the second five was Dale Kober with Austin Silfee, Tanner Jones, the returning Marc Daniels and Scott Neary completing the top ten.

In the Hampton RV & Trailer Sales Stage One Modified run, "TVD" Tanner VanDoren was quick on the throttle and grabbed the early lead. Joel Smith wouls climb into second early and began to pressure VanDoren. The show became the youngster versus the veteran as the racing was close and as many as six drivers were vying for the lead throughout the twenty laps. VanDoren held his ground and went on to capture his second win of the season in the division. Joel Smith was second with Adam Buchel racing to the checkered flag to claim third and Jasper Ziegafuse fourth and Jeff Hineline completing the top five. The second five consisted of John Comandini, Amanda Buchel, Evan Civick, Cody Motto and Quarter Midget star Mark Evans.

The 270 Sprint feature found Morgan Rochelle in a speed zone as the young driving star took off from her outside starting position and drove away from the field at will to claim her second win of the season. Turning consistent laps at 12 seconds per lap, Rochelle won with Glenn Macomber second, Anthony Chrobak third in his best finish of the season on a part time basis, Jaocb by fourth, Alex Reinsmith and Kyle Ferrucci completing the field.

The Super Slingshot feature event found Wes Hearn with a front row start and the many time track champion found that was the ticket as he raced away early and would earn his fifth win of the season. Dale Kober kept pace and closed late but would settle for runner-up honors. The returning John Gilroy still knew the feast way around Hamlin and finished a close third with Roger Collins and Kevin White finishing off the top five. David Guest ran his best event of the season and headed up the second five with Wally Bell, Derek DeSilva, the returning Jeff Haduck and Mark Exeter completing the field.

Shelby McLaughlin raced into the lead from her front row start and would lead every lap to earn her second victory of the season at Hamlin. Brain Smith would finish as the runner-up with Joey Kalafut in third, Kasey Hufcut fourth and James Benz completing the top five. The second five found JJ Rice, Aidan Donaldson, Austin Homan, James Hendricks and the birthday girl Charlene Benz completing the top ten positions.

Earl Rice led the first three laps of the JPA Masonry Rookie Wingless 600 Sprint encounter. Sixth place starting Dennis Chamblerlain made great use of the upper channels of the speedway and would take over the lead on a fourth lap restart. Chamberlain was flawless from the top side as he built up a huge advantage over runner-up Zack Weisenfluh. Chamberlain cranked off some 12.4 second lap times to control the field even though Weisenfluh put on a great show to keep pace. Chamberlain would go on to score his first ever win at Hamlin with Weisenfluh the runner-up. Tony Parlanti was third with Noah Zielinski from a 17th place start in fourth and Brandon Nicholas from 14th to nail down a top five finish. The second five included Matt Zielinski, newcomer Fred Heinly, Richie Maguire, Ryan Lacoe and Rich Maguire.

Zack Bealer took the lead at the start of the headliner Chad Wheeler Excavating 600 Sprint event. Bealer was able to turn some 12.4 second laps early on but had Mick D'Agostino turning times just as quickly and looking to make a move each step of the way. Chad Sandt joined the duo and the event turned into a three car breakway with the driving stars attempting to out-maneuver each other at every turn. Bealer was on his A-game and would earn his second straight win of the season. D'Agostino, Sandt, the returning Jacob Balliet and Paul Richards Jr completed the top five. Duane White continued his great work at the speedway as he headed up the second five with Joseph Smith, Mack Brink, Tyler Lindsay and Jason Rochelle completing the top ten.

The NASCAR Crew Challenge part two was an interesting affair. David Cropps led the first twelve laps of the event but he and Brad Tunney got together in between turns one and two and both spun out. On the restart, upstart Dale Larson drove into the lead but a lap later Cropps was back out front. Cropps would lead through lap seventeen when Kevin White coaxed some additional speed out of his race car and he went on to capture the win. Dale Larson would finish in the runner-up role in his first NASCAR event with Jamie Edwards finishing third, Tony Consentino fourth and Eric Burgoyne completing the top five. The rest of the finishing order were David Cropps, Robert Miolen and Brad Tunney.

Stage One Modified heats went to Joel Smith and Jasper Ziegafuse. The Super Slinger heat went to Roger Collins and Kyle Ferrucci captured the heat win for the 270 Sprints.

Newcomers and returnees who made their way to the speedway last night included Marc Daniels, Taylor Mills and Mike Lapicki in the All Star Slingshots. Quarter Midget star Mark Evans tried out the second Motto Motorsports entry. John Gilroy, Derek DeSilva, Jeff Haduck and Wally Bell were new Super Slinger entries. Evan VanValkenburg made his second Junior Slingshot start. Fred Heinly joined the 600 Sprints. Bob Hummer and Heinly made 600 Rookie starts. Jacob Balliet made his return to the speedway and left Hamlin with a top five finish in his return to action. Justin Mills

Some familiar faces from years past were at Hamlin last evening. "The Rocket" Ronnie Dunstan and his life companion Glenna Henry are up from Florida and took in the races and spent some time with their many friends at the speedway including the Smith Family and announcer Steve Pados. The Rochelle Family was in competition and Ronnie and Gleena were there to cheer them on. Former Hamlin racers Paul Quear, Tex Snyder were in attendance and former stock car and midget star Bing Metz was taking in the action.

A moment of silence and a fond remembrance was offered for Hamlin Speedway Videographer Barry Boyd who passed away July 19th at the age of 76.

A quick intermission period allowed the fans to ask the NASCAR Crew guys some questions regarding the work they do in the NASCAR garage and White, who is working on the Halmar-Freisen Team, offer to the fans some posters of Stewart Freisen and his truck ride.

Hamlin, PA -Storms Stop Hamlin Speedway After Six Features Are Completed

Promoters Randy and Denise Smith put forth a valiant effort on Saturday to try get their tenth show of the season in the history books. Unfortunately, Mother Nature had her own agenda as heavy rains pounded the Pocono Mountains and the Hamlin Speedway forcing a shutdown after six features had been completed. The good news was the three postponed features from a week ago were completed along with three events from this evening's race card. The four features that were postponed will be added as time permits in the Hamlin schedule. The Smith Family would like to thank the loyal fans who came out to the speedway for the racing action and the race teams, especially the Chad Wheeler Excavating 600 Sprint teams who helped keep the racing action until safety conditions forced the teams to the pit area. Hamlin Speedway Promoter Randy Smith had the 1/5th mile clay oval in great condition despite the crazy weather that has hit the Pocono area this season.

Make-up features were the first course of action on Saturday night and Jeff Hineline was precise in carving out his first win of the season when he decided to go low when Jasper Ziegafuse went high to lead the last few laps in the held-over Hampton RV & Trailer Sales Stage One Modifed feature run. The Super Slinger feature from a week ago found Greg Zellman with a quick hot rod as he wired the field for his first feature win of the season. In the final make-up event, "Duece" Glenn Macomber was all business as he took the lead at the drop of the green flag and led all of the way to record his fourth win of the 2018 season. In the regularly scheduled events, "The Zack Attack" Zack Bealer was spot on in his Russ Thornton owned racer as wired the field to score his first win of the season in the Chad Wheeler Excavating Wingless 600 Sprint headliner. The JPA Masonry Rookie 600 Sprint division found "The Taylor Tornado" Zack Weisenfluh with the hot hand as he drove away from the field to score his first win in 2018. "The Branchburg Bandit" John Comandini celebrated his return to racing in 2018 with his first win since his return in the Hampton RV & Trailer Sales Stage One Modified nightcap. XCel Chassis Race cars were on hand testing the waters in some exhibition runs as they prepare to tackle the Hamlin Speedway on August 4th with a Tour event.

In the Hampton RV & Trailer Sales Stage One Modified run, "The J-Man" Jasper Ziegafuse took the lead at the drop of the green flag in a car he took over one week ago from John Bachetti Sr. Ziegafuse was quick but Jeff Hineline stayed with him all of the way. Ziegafuse came upon slower cars on lap-14 and decided to take the high side while Hineline quickly drove to the baseline to come out of turn two with the lead. Ziegafuse attempted to take the spot back but Hineline held him off and Ziegafuse now had Joel Smith knocking at his door. Hineline took the win with Ziegafuse in the runner-up role and Smith third. Adam Buchel in fourth and John Comandini completed the top five. Cody Motto, Evan Civick and newcomer Tommy Hildebrandt followed.

The 270 Sprint feature found Glenn Macomber at the drop of the green flag and he would check out on the field early on and would cruise to his fourth victory of the season. Alex Reinsmith would follow in second place with Kyle Ferrucci, Jenna Schostkewitz and newcomer Jacob Eby completing the field.

The Super Slingshot feature event found Greg Zellman with a front row start and he would set a torrid pace through the entire twenty lap event to claim his first win of the season at Hamlin. Dale Kober raced to second with Alan Kober third, Roger Collins fourth, Mark Exeter Fifth and David Guest in sixth.

Zack Weisenfluh put on a great show as he blitzed the speedway with some 12.7 second lap times in the JPA Masonry Rookie 600 Wingless Sprint event. Weisenfluh broke away from the field early and at one time held a near straightaway lead on the field. Coming up on slower traffic by mid-point, Wisenfluh eased his way through the traffic allowing Dennis Chamberlain and Noah Zielinski to close the gap. The race belonged to Weisenfluh as he picked up his first win of the season. Chamberlain, Noah Zielinski, Ryan Lacoe and Cory Zielinski completed the top five. Matt Zielinski, Glenn Macomber, in his first 600 ride, and Carmen Leggio Sr completed the field running at the finish.

Zack Bealer took the lead at the start of the headliner Chad Wheeler Excavating 600 Sprint event. Bealer was able to turn some 12.4 second laps early on but had the returning James Morris and Mick D'Agostino turning times just as quick. A spin by Joseph Smith past the midway point of the event brought the field back together for a restart. On the restart Bealer held tough and was able to hold off a bushel of talent behind him to score his first win of the season. Morris, who was making his first appearance of the season, was second in a great return to Hamlin and D'Agostino was third. Cody Smith and Joel Smith completed the top five. Heading up the second five was Duane White, with Pat Bealer, Tyler Lindsay, Mack Brink and Jason Rochelle following.

John Comandini blasted out of the gate in the second Hampton RV & Trailer Sales Stage One Modified finale. Joel Smith was quick to follow and a couple of laps later Anthony Recchio joined the fierce battle. The three cars moved out into their own zone as they left the field in their wake. Comandini was on the money and try as he may Joel Smith couldn't find the traction to make a move on the New Jersey driver. Comandini would earn his first win of the season with Joel Smith second, Recchio third in a great run, Jasper Ziegafuse fourth and Jeff Hineline completing the top five. Newcomer Jacob Nemeth headed up the second six with Amanda Buchel, Tanner VanDoren, Evan Civick, Joel Price and Tommy Hildebrandt completing the field

PEARL JAMS:

The hotly contested evening of racing entertainment began on time and the staff kept moving the program along swiftly and the race teams helped in keeping the speedway race worthy. Kudos to the Smith Family for refusing to yield to the weather that has plagued the number of events completed at the speedway in 2018.

The PA System was in fine working order thanks to some intense work performed by Randy Smith.

The Junior Slingshot heats were won by James Benz and Kasey Hufcut. Ryan Lacoe captured the lone heat win in JPA Masonry Rookie Wingless 600 Sprints. The 600 Sprints ran off two heats with Cody Smith and the returning Billy Koch claiming wins. CJ Fritz and the returning Danny Buccafusca captured heat wins in the All Star Slingshots.

Newcomers and returnees who made their way to the speedway last night included Danny Buccafusca and Mason Pittenger in the All Star Slingshots. Pittenger recently purchased the former John Rooks #28 race car. Amber Baccaglini and RJ Sherman made their first Junior Slingshot starts. James Morris and Macy Litchauer joined the 600 Sprints. Robbie Hocker, Justin Mills, Damon Paul and Joey Amantea all returned to action in the 600 Sprints. Jacob Eby was a newcomer for the 270 Sprints. Tommy Hildebrandt made his debut in of Tom Motto's race cars. Tommy is a fourth generation driver who is following in the footsteps of his great grandfather George Sr, grandson of George Jr and the son of current sportsman driver Kenny. Jacob Nemeth who also steered the second Motto car earlier in the season recently purchased a Stage One Modified of the Vreeland Family and the car is now the Nemeth number 78.

The Excel Modified brought four cars to test and tune for their Tour event on August 4th. Testing were Hunter Diehl and Doug Borger from Kunkletown, Kevin Van Valkenburg from Wayne, New Jersey and Travis Fichter from Lehighton. The cars looked fast and the Tour event should be a event for the speedway.

Current Hamlin driver Mick D'Agostino captured his sixth win of the season on Friday night at the Accord Speedway and is leading in the points battle.

Hamlin, PA -Hamlin Speedway Halted By Heavy Storm After Four Features

The Hamlin Speedway was rolling along with time to spare on Saturday night when a quick hitting over the top storm converged on the speedway with four laps remaining in the Chad Wheeler Excavating Wingless 600 Sprint main. The cars were quickly taken off of the track for safety purposes just as the skies above the speedway opened up. The feature was declared official and the remaining three divisions were postponed until a later date. The racing was spectacular until the rains came and a nice crowd was on hand to witness the action on the speedway. Hamlin Speedway Promoter Randy Smith had the 1/5th mile clay oval in impeccable condition and once again took some breaks to keep the facility top notch and racy from top to bottom.

The All Star Slingshot feature event found Scott Neary hitting on all cylinders as he overcame an early lead by Tyler Banks to go on and become the first Slingshot driver to capture two feature events in 2018. "The Electric Man" Colin White only led the final few feet last week to record his first win but this week he put an exclamation point on all that as he grabbed the lead on the first turn and led the rest of the way to score his second win of the season in the Chad Wheeler Excavating Wingless 600 Sprint headliner. Aidan Donaldson was truly a happy camper in the RLE Towing and Recovery Victory Lane as he earned his first career win at Hamlin with a wire to wire triumph in the exciting Junior Slingshot feature. The JPA Masonry Rookie 600 Sprint division was introduced trackside to the crowd for the first time and they proceeded to show their appreciation with a top notch feature show that found Noah Zielinski sailing to his fourth win of the season.

New Yorker Tyler Banks grabbed the lead at the start of the All Star Slingshot feature event and he would set a torrid pace through the first seven laps of the event. Neary started from the fourth slot and used a variety of spots on the race track to make his passes and move into the runner-up slot. Reeling off a 13.8 second lap, Neary slipped past Banks and began to step away from the field. Banks gave way to Jared Silfee and the returning Taylor Mills and both drivers were able to close the distance but it would be Neary capturing his second win of the season. Silfee, Mills, Banks and Adam Buchel completed the top five. Heading up the second five was the returning John Kendall and he was followed by Paul Ennes, Dale Kober, Mike Fogler and Tanner Jones.

The Junior Slingshot feature found Aidan Donaldson grabbing up the lead in turn one. Donaldson, in his rookie season at Hamlin, found his marks early and was consistent with his lap times. Austin Homan raced into second place with Shelby McLaughlin in third. A couple of skirmished slowed the pace a bit but Donaldson remained determined with each restart. Late in the race, McLaughlin got by Homan and chased Donaldson down with some quick laps of her own but Donaldson drove under Russ Furry's checkered flag to earn his first ever Hamlin Speedway victory. McLaughlin was second with Austin Homan, James Benz and Joey Kalafut completing the top five. The second five found Jacob Taylor, Brian Smith, Ashton DeWitt, Kasey Hufcut and JJ Rice following.

After introductions and rousing send off from the fans, Noah Zielinski put on a show as he blitzed the speedway with some 12.3 second times in the JPA Masonry Rookie 600 Wingless Sprint event. Tyler Lindsay remained close throughout the event but the night belonged to Zielinski as he overcame an upside down situation from a week ago. With the race car repaired and faster than ever, Zielinski earned his fourth win of the season at Hamlin. Lindsay was second and he too overcame a scary moment when his primary car was knocked out of commission during hot laps. Undaunted, Lindsay ran well for a second place finish while Tony Parlanti, Dennis Chamberlain and Zack Weisenfluh completed the top five. Ryan Lacoe, Aidan Borden, Rich Maguire, Ryan Stangle and Cory Zielinski completed the top ten.

Colin White took the lead at the start of the headliner Chad Wheeler Excavating 600 Sprint event. White immediately ripped off some 12.3 second laps to make everyone aware he was on his a-game. A sixth lap scuffle slowed the paced and eliminated contenders Damon Paul and Cody Smith. On the restart, White rocketed away from the field but behind him the drivers were working each other with professional courtesy and quick to speed. Mick D'Agostino was coming off a Friday night win at the Accord Speedway in the sprint cars and he quickly found his mark whether utilizing the top of the raceway or driving to the baseline. D'Agostino started tenth but by mid-point was second and he began reeling in White. The duo was nose to tail when the rains came and the race was declared official with White picking up win number two for the season. D'Agostino was second with the returning Robbie Hocker third, Chad Sandt fourth and Duane White completing the top five. Paul Richards Jr headed up the second five with Zack Bealer, Joe Nemeth, Mack Brink and Geordan Marrero rounding out the top ten.

PEARL JAMS:

The hotly contested evening of racing entertainment began on time and the staff kept moving the program along swiftly with a couple of breaks taken for track maintenance. The expected rain came early than anticipated but the rain is definitely needed in our area and the speedway will catch up on the remaining three events at a later time.

The speedway again apologizes for the problems with the PA System but promises to iron then out quickly.

The Junior Slingshot heats were won by James Benz and JJ Rice. Noah Zielinski and Tyler Lindsay captured heat wins in JPA Masonry Rookie Wingless 600 Sprints. Roger Collins captured the Super Slinger Slingshot heat event. The 600 Sprints ran off two heats with Damon Paul and Chad Sandt the two winners. Stage One Modified heats were claimed by John Comandini and Joel Price. Glenn Macomber captured the 270 Sprint heat. John Kendall and Jared Silfee captured heat wins in the All Star Slingshots.

Jasper Ziegafuse has taken over the John Bachetti Sr ride in the Stage One Modifieds. and looked real good in his first outing. Jack Hanna is now competing in the Rookie 600 Sprints in a car formerly owned by Hamlin regular Shelby Harper.

Current Hamlin drivers Mick D'Agostino and Anthony Recchio scored Friday night wins at the Accord Speedway, D'Agostino his fifth win and Recchio his second win. Former regular Cole Stangle picked up his third Accord Speedway win on Friday Night. The top six drivers in the Sportsman finish at Accord on Friday night were all former graduates of the Slingshot division at Hamlin. Anthony Recchio, Kyle Rohner, Alex VanPelt, Leo Fotopoulos,Tyler Johnston and Cole Hentschel finished first through sixth in the 25-lap feature. Hamlin, PA -Brett Bieber Scores Hamlin Speedway VETSTOCK 100 Win; Colin White Tops 600 Sprints

The Hamlin Speedway has hit the halfway mark of the 2018 racing season and with that offered a Saturday night show people will continue to talk about for some to come. The hot, muggy air that has sweltered everyone in the Northeast of late cooled down more than a fraction on Saturday night and had fans donning jackets as the sun set on the speedway. An overflow race crowd embraced the opportunity to come out to the speedway and enjoy the very best of what Hamlin has to offer in the way of racing entertainment. The Smith Family and Staff presented a superb seven feature race card on Saturday evening with the highlight of the evening being great racing and the opportunity for the fans to give back to assist in supporting the many veterans in the Northeast who laid their lives on the line to help keep America free from oppression. Hamlin Speedway Promoter Randy Smith had the 1/5th mile clay oval in impeccable condition and the racing was spectacular. Once again, the drivers utilized every inch of the raceway to carve out some rim-riding expeditions around the speedway and the heart-stopping action was non-stop from start to finish. The Smith Family orchestrated the seven feature event program even though the main sound system was knocked out by a storm during the week and the VetStock Group was kind enough to scurry to home base and bring their portable system to the speedway.

The headline event of the evening was the VetStock Firecracker 100 All Star Slingshot feature event that went 100-grueling laps to determine the winner. When all was said and done invader "The Oley Jet" Brett Bieber was strong from start to finish to etch his name in the Hamlin record books as a winner of the event. "The Oxford Express" Dale Kober captured his second win of the season in the Super Slingers finale. "The Electric Man" Colin White only led the final few feet but that is when it counted as he came on strong late to capture his first win of the season in the Chad Wheeler Excavating Wingless 600 Sprint headliner. Alex Reinsmith was a rocket at the drop of the green flag as scored his first win of the season in the Winged 270 Sprint feature. Kasey Hufcut earned his fifth win of the season in the Junior Slingshot finale. The JPA Masonry Rookie 600 Sprint feature once again produced a great dual and Ryan Lacoe drove to his first win of the season. The Hampton RV & Trailer Sales Stage One Modified event found "The Nickel Man" Joel Smith dominating the action to score his fourth win of the season in the division.

"The Sandman" Troy Langendoerfer grabbed the lead at the start of the All Star Slingshot feature event and would set a torrid pace with lots of action scrambling around behind him. A move here and move there produced some early heartaches as Tanner VanDoren was the first to fall by the wayside after eleven laps. The restart found more jockeying for position as Langendoerfer continued on his merry way. The major players began to line-up behind Langendoerfer after a 43'rd lap scramble sent contender Mike Taylor into the frontstretch wall with heavy damage to his race car. On the restart, Langendoerfer again took the lead but Brett Bieber was now knocking on his door with the Silfee Brothers, Scott Neary and Dale Kober in hot pursuit. Bieber made his move when Langendoerfer slid high off of turn two on the 48th lap and Bieber hustled into the lead.

>From then on it was Bieber holding court the rest of the way as Jared Silfee mounted a challenge and even stuck the nose of his race alongside Bieber but could not make the pass to slip past him. Bieber would go on to capture the win with Jared and Austin Silfee second and third with Scott Neary fourth and Dale Kober completing the top five. A former winner of the event, Ben Whitaker, found a ride in Mark Exeter's hot rod and drove from 18th to head up the second five. Tanner Jones, invader Mike Lapicki, another former winner Charlie Lawrence and Jasper Ziegafuse completing the top ten.

The Super Slingers main event found Dale Kober leading the first eight laps before Wes Hearn got by him. Hearn would lead for two laps before Kober slipped past Hearn to once again command the event, The lead pair along with Mike Taylor separated from the pack and was a dogfight until the end with Kober grabbing up his second win with Hearn second, Taylor third, Paul Ennes Fourth and Jim Conroy fifth., with Doc Lapicki and Derek Deliva following.

Alex Reinsmith was all business in the 270 Sprint main. Coming out of turn at the start, Reinsmith jumped into the lead and never looked back. Clicking off laps in the 11. 7 second range, Reinsmith attacked the track with gusto and led every lap to claim his second win of the season. Reigning track champ Glenn Macomber was second while Anthony Chrobak and newcomer Dakota Missmer followed.

The Junior Slingshot feature found Shelby McLaughlin and Kasey Hufcut on the front tier of automobiles. Hufcut won the opening drag race and opened up an early lead while JJ Rice moved in to the runner-up slot. A couple of skirmishes slowed the action but the restarts found Hufcut with power enough to continue to lead the way. McLaughlin fought her way back and was able to drive by Rice to regain second place. McLaughlin raced hard and was able to stay nose to tail with Hufcut the rest of the way and mounted a couple of challenges to get by him but it would be Hufcut earning his fifth win of the season at Hamlin. McLaughlin was second with Rice third, James Benz fourth and Brian Smith completing the top five. The second five found Mikey Johannes, Aidan Donaldson, Jacob Taylor, Austin Homan and Charlene Benz following.

The start of the JPA Masonry Rookie 600 Wingless Sprint event found Bryan Zyck leading for two laps before faltering with engine woes. Ryan Lacoe inherited the lead with Zack Weisenfuh and Noah Zielinski applying the pressure. On lap eleven, Zielinski made a move to take over the lead but hopped a wheel and went flipping hard in turn one. He was unhurt in the incident. On the restart, Lacoe was still in command but Weisenfluh and Tyler Lindsay were closing in quickly. Lacoe would hang on for the win, his first of the year, with Weisenfluh and Lindsay following. Dennis Chamberlain was fourth and Tony Parlanti completed the top five. Dennis Stawinsky, Jack Hanna, Earl Rice, Carmen Leggio Sr and newcomer Joey Peters completed the top ten.

Duane White took the lead at the start of the headliner Chad Wheeler Excavating 600 Sprint event. Blasting forward from his third starting place, "Bad" Chad Sandt hoisted the top side channel and took over the top spot on lap three. Sixth starting Colin White was moving through traffic and was soon following his Dad in the White team cars. Colin would get himself into the runner-up role but Sandt was a tough customer and the pair raced hard and fast as they posting 12.2 laps times with each and every lap. Sandt seemed in command on the white flag lap but White had ideas of his own. Sandt slid a bit high in two and White pulled even down the backstretch and forged ahead with a slider but Sandt came right back off of four side by side but it would be White securing the win by a whisker. Sandt was a disappointed second with Duane White third, Joel Smith fourth and Paul Richards Jr securing fifth. The second five found Tyler Lindsay, Joe Nemeth, Mick D'Agostino, Zack Bealer and Cody Smith following.

Joel Smith took the lead at the drop of the green flag and clicked off some 12.7 second laps to move out to a big advantage. Some tangles slowed the action just a bit but the restarts allowed Amanda Buchel to make a run for the lead on those restarts but Smith was in the zone and would hustle to his fourth win of the season. Buchel ran a great race for runner-up honors. John Comandini, Adam Buchel and Jeff Hineline completed the top five. Tanner VanDoren headed up the next five with Cody Motto, newcomer Jacob Nemeth, Anthony Recchio and Joel Price completing the top ten.

PEARL JAMS:

The hotly contested evening of racing entertainment began on time despite the need for a back-up sound system. The staff kept moving the program along swiftly with a couple of breaks taken for track maintenance to keep the track racy throughout the evening. Once again Smith and Company got the job done without reservation and the fast times in all divisions shows the dedication the Smith Family puts into the facility. The good sized crowd on hand for the event witnessed a great evening of racing entertainment with all that was going on at the track.

Special awards during the evening went to JJ Rice in being selected the favorite driver. Best appearing cars honors went to Cody Motto. Ben Whitaker was the hard charger of the event advancing 12 positions at the end of 100 laps of racing. The Longest Haul Award sponsored by the Rode Family went to Cole Perry who made the tow in from Ontario, Canada.

Time trials found the Junior Slingshots taking time with Shelby McLaughlin gaining top honors with a fast time of 14.695 seconds just nipping Kasey Hufcut who timed at 14.708 seconds.. Noah Zielinski timed his hot rod in at 12.313 seconds to claim top honors for the JPA Masonry Rookie Wingless 600 Sprints.

Wes Hearn captured the Super Slinger Slingshot heat event. The 600 Sprints ran off two heats with Joel Smith and Joseph Smith the two winners. Stage One Modified heats were claimed by John Comandini and Amanda Buchel. Glenn Macomber captured the 270 Sprint heat.
Two rounds of heats were utilized to set the Firecracker 100 starting field. Dale Kober, Austin Silfee and Jared Silfee captured the first round heats while Charlie Lawrence, Adam Buchel and Troy Langerdoerfer captured heat wins in the second round.

Newcomers who made their way to the speedway last night and made their first starts in the All Star Slingshots were Ben Whitaker, Emily Fleming and Mike and Doc Lipicki. Cole Perry and Mason Trautschold were newcomers for the Junior Slingshot ranks. Kyle Rutledge and JJ Smith were new additions to the 600 Sprints. Dakota Missmer was a new face for the 270 Sprints. Jacob Nemeth and Lawson Szerencits made their first Stage One Modified starts.

Hamlin, PA- Racing Returns To The Hamlin Speedway This Saturday Evening, June 30th

Hamlin Speedway, the premier racing facility in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, will spring back into action this coming Saturday night, June 30th with a seven division race card. The event will act as a prelude to the Annual VETSTOCK “Firecracker 100” that will take place on the following weekend July 7th. The speedway took a weekend off last week to allow families an opportunity to enjoy some quality vacation time together away from the rigors of racing and to re-charge their batteries for the start of the second half of the racing season at Hamlin. The Hamlin Speedway continues to enjoy great racing action in 2018 and the loyal band of racing heroes have created a star base of a driving roster that has just been over the top with new drivers emerging each week to take on the regulars on the newly clayed, multi-grooved raceway. The racing action on Saturday night will allow the drivers the opportunity to get back to their “A-Game” as the speedway heads into the second half of the racing season.

For the Slingshot driving stars at the speedway, this will give them a chance to make sure their equipment is ship-shape and top notch as they prepare for the century grind that will await on July 7th. A big win or solid finish on Saturday will propel the drivers into the big dollar event. Through six events in 2018, the All Star Slingshot features have produced six different winners. From the solid core of driving talent at the speedway, the drivers are very much of the talent that surrounds them so the next couple of shows at the speedway may find the shining star breaking free from his rivals. Brett Bieber, Troy Langendoerfer, Austin Silfee, Scott Neary, Tyler Banks and Mike Fogler have claimed wins thus far in Slingshot action.

The remaining six divisions have battles of their own going on and all will be seeking their own breakout event to place them at the top of the heap in their division. The racing at Hamlin in 2018 has been spectacular with a quality weekly roster that has produced a star studded field of racing heroes, creating the excitement and the buzz of what small car division racing is all about. Hamlin Speedway is a transitioning track with drivers transitioning in and out as they make their way into other divisions of the sport that will take them away from where they have made their initial mark in racing. To replace them, new stars have emerged each year at Hamlin from the quarter midget and go kart ranks to take on the speedway regulars on the multi-grooved and highly competitive raceway.

The Hamlin Speedway is preparing for their annual “VETSTOCK FIRECRACKER 100” for the All Star Slingshots to be held on Saturday evening July 7th. $1,500.00 on the line based on a 35-car entry field. The top 18 cars are locked in with a B-Main to fill to 28 and two provisionals will be added to start a field of 30-cars for the century grind. This annual benefit assists our local veterans. There will be a calendar lottery drawing, chinese auction and lap sponsorships
