KEITH ROCCO TO MAKE FIRST INDOOR THREE QUARTER MIDGET AUTO RACING SERIES FUELED BY VP RACING FUELS STARTS IN ALLENTOWN, ATLANTIC CITY AND ALBANY; ACQUIRES TOP SHELF RYAN PREECE CAR FOR ALL OUT ASSAULT
ALLENTOWN, PA November 8, 2017 . . . New England Asphalt Modified specialist Keith Rocco has plans to run in the Indoor Auto Racing Series Fueled By VP Racing Fuels trio of races to be held this coming winter. Len Sammons Motorsports Productions received confirmation from Rocco declaring his intentions to race in the Allentown (PA), Atlantic City (NJ) and Albany (NY) races.
Rocco, who has never driven a Three Quarter Midget nor raced indoors, has acquired the car Ryan Preece has raced in recent Indoor races with considerable success.
Preece recently announced that he will drive the car now solely owned by Donnie Preece, Ryan's uncle, in the three-race Indoor Auto Racing Series. Donnie Preece acquired sole ownership of the car from the late Ted Christopher's wife Quinn shortly after the racing legend's death in a private plane crash.
With a top car underneath him, Rocco, of Wallingford, CT, who won track championships this season at Waterford Speedbowl, Thompson Motorsports Park and Stafford Motor Speedway, is certain to rank among the pre-race favorites.
Rocco will be in the field when the series opens for 2018 at the PPL Center in Allentown, PA., for the Ironton Telephone sponsored events on Friday and Saturday, January 5 and 6. He will return to the NAPA Auto Parts Indoor Auto Racing Weekend in Atlantic City, NJ, on January 26 and 27. Then, Rocco will then square off in neutral territory in the first ever Indoor race event in New York State, set for February 9-10, 2018 in the Times Union Center in downtown Albany, N.Y.
To succeed, Rocco will have to go up against experienced indoor TQ Midget drivers in what is a very specialized racing discipline.
New Jersey native Ryan Flores of Mooresville, N.C., will be racing his No. 15 Lafler TQ Midget at Wall Stadium’s Turkey Derby in the TQ Midget feature over Thanksgiving Day weekend in preparation for the indoor opener.
Flores has spent his working life in NASCAR’s upper tier series. He currently works on the Woods Brothers No. 21 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series team driven by Ryan Blaney.
When Blaney moves from the Wood Brothers Ford to a third team owned by Roger Penske in 2018, Flores and the rest of the team will move with Blaney to the No. 12 car.
Also a contender for victories and the championship is Jimmy Blewett of Howell, N.J., recently crowned Wall Stadium 2017 Modified champion. Blewett has been a contender for Indoor Auto Racing Series victory for five years but has yet take the checkered flag.
You never can rule out Erick Rudolph of Ransomville, NY. An eight time winner and three time Indoor Racing Series champion, Rudolph was a close second to Flores in last year’s title chase. He will be coming off a career best outdoor season on dirt that produced 17 wins and the BRP Modified Tour championship.
Driving a TQ Midget on the Indoor Series is a perfect off-season workout for the drivers. The TQs are open wheel race cars, specifically adapted for racing in the tight indoor speedway confines. Powered by a 750cc motorcycle engine, the car and driver weigh only 825 pounds allowing them to ignite to speeds up to 75 mph. The unbelievable racing, with lap times under eight seconds, has produced huge fan attendance.
These are not cookie cutter race cars held in a box by a large rule book. The suspension and car design are open to the team, making it a throwback style of racing.
The Ironton Telephone Allentown event schedule calls for racing to start at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and 7 p.m. on Saturday.
Three Quarter (TQ) Midgets will run a full program of racing with feature events both nights. Champ Karts will be racing in a complete show on Friday night, with the Slingshots on Saturday night.
For choice tickets, contact the PPL Center Box Office by phone at 610-347-TIXX (8499), online at pplcenter.com. The 2016 event was a sell-out.
The series moves next to the NAPA Auto Parts Indoor Auto Racing Weekend in Atlantic City. For tickets, contact Ticketmaster, the Boardwalk Hall Box Office, or the Area Auto Racing News office at 609-888-3618.
The finale will be a first annual event in New York State, on February 9-10, 2018 in the Times Union Center in downtown Albany, N.Y. For choice tickets, contact the Times Union Center Box Office, charge-by-phone at (800) 745-3000, or visit online at ticketmaster.com.

-Inaugural Trenton Race On Clay Set For Dec. 1-2-
BROTHERS MICHAEL AND BRIAN CARBER ENTER INAUGURAL EAST COAST INDOOR DIRT NATIONALS WEEKEND
TRENTON, NJ November 7, 2017 . . . A pair of dirt track racing brothers, Michael and Brian Carber have each filed entries for the inaugural East Coast Indoor Dirt Nationals Fueled By VP Racing Fuels which will be held at CURE Insurance Arena in Trenton, N.J., on Friday and Saturday, December 1st and 2nd.
Get your tickets now, don’t risk standing in line. This one is going to be huge!
The event, the only indoor dirt oval track race in the northeast, has drawn tremendous competitor and race fan interest.
Rich black clay has been ordered and the track crew is preparing to make it banked, smooth, tacky and fast. Race teams have responded by entering their 600cc Micro Sprints for top drivers in big numbers making this a must see event.
The Carber brothers, Michael, 30 and Brian, 23, come into the event with considerable Dirt Track Micro Sprint racing on their side, an advantage that could be huge. The Carbers are natives of the Pipersville, PA area.
Michael Carber will be driving a car owned by Jason Higdalski.
“This actually started out as kind of a gag between me and Ryan Flores,” Carber said. “He said he was trying to hook up a Micro ride so I decided to find one too. I got mine, he had to back out on his, but I'm going ahead with it.”
Flores has entered the three TQ Midget Indoor Auto Racing Series events held on the concrete floors at Allentown (PA), Atlantic City (NJ) and Albany (NY). Flores is the defending Series champion in those events.
Both Carber and Flores are involved as crewmen on NASCAR's top tier series teams owned by Roger Penske and live near one another in Mooresville, N.C.
Carber has won races in every type of racing he has competed in, including Quarter Midgets, Micro Sprints, and 305, 360 and 410 Sprint Cars.
When Brian Carber learned of his older brother's intentions, the Micro Sprint and URC Sprint ace decided to put together a deal for himself too. The younger Carber will strap into a Hyper Chassis owned by Eric Gable. The younger Carber has been racing Micros and Sprint Cars.
Ability and experience aside, the Carber brothers will be facing some formidable competition at the inaugural East Coast Indoor Dirt Nationals Weekend.
Four ARDC Midget car driving champions, Alex Bright, Trevor Kobylarz, and the Buckwalter cousins, Steve and Tim, all have eyes on contending for the $5,000 first place prize. Each could be expected to have an edge over the competitors who do not have their background.
Entries have already been received from competitors in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York, Delaware, Colorado, Connecticut, North Carolina, Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
The field includes the best of Micro Sprint racing, plus top drivers from many other forms or racing that have landed rides for the event. The list includes three top Sprint Car drivers.
Ryan Smith of Kunkletown, Pa., who finished second in Tony Stewart’s All Star 410 Sprint Car series this year, has announced his attentions to compete. So has New York state 360 Sprint car drivers Scott Kreutter and Joe Trenca.
In response to the all-new nature of the event and the wide array of drivers who have entered, Sammons has added a Thursday night practice session to the schedule. The session will take place on Thursday, November 30.
Though the East Coast Indoor Nationals is a brand new event, the CURE Insurance Arena (formerly Sun National Bank Center), has hosted TQ Midget racing for the past four years on the arena’s concrete floor.
The racing schedule will tentatively call for heat races with passing points and four A-qualifier feature races on Friday night. On Saturday it will be “alphabet mains,” with racers having the opportunity to advance from F, E, D, C and B-mains to the 40 lap “A” feature.
The agenda calls for racing to start at 7 p.m. on Friday and 5 p.m. on Saturday.
Oliver Communication Group (OCG) of Bordentown, N.J. has signed on as an associate sponsor of the event. Other sponsorship packages remain.
Tickets for both days of the event are available at the CURE Insurance Arena Box Office or by phone at 800-298-4200. Further information is available at www.indoorautoracing.com, email to motorsports@aarn.com or by calling 609-888-3618.

LEN SAMMONS MOTORSPORTS PRODUCTIONS TO BRING DIRT INDOOR RACING TO TRENTON’S SUN NATIONAL BANK CENTER, DECEMBER 1-2
TRENTON, NJ JULY 26, 2017 - Indoor dirt track auto racing is coming to the northeast in December of 2017!
Len Sammons Motorsports Productions will be offering two days of Indoor Auto Racing on a dirt oval to be constructed inside the Sun National Bank Center in Trenton, N.J., on Friday and Saturday, December 1-2.
“When news of this race leaked out it has created huge excitement in the racing industry,” Len Sammons said.
“We are pleased to bring dirt track racing indoors in Trenton for the first time. This is the right place and the right time to bring exciting 600cc Micro Sprint racing indoors to the area,” Sammons added.
With many tracks racing Micro Sprints weekly in the region, the pool of potential entrants is huge.
Bridgeport (NJ), Airport (DE), and Linda’s, Lanco, Kutztown, Hamlin, Trail-Way and Path Valley in Pennsylvania are among them.
“As with our successful Indoor TQ Midget races on the concrete, we expect there will be big name dirt track drivers who will be filing entries,” Sammons added.
The logistics of building a dirt track inside the Sun National Bank Center will include trucking in a large quantity of high quality clay, packing it, and watering it to keep it moist.
“The track will have banking in the turns,” Sammons revealed. “That will be key to having very competitive racing.”
Complete programs of qualifying events and feature for the Micro Sprints will take place on both nights.
Oliver Communications has already signed on as a presenting sponsor of the event, however there are still plenty of marketing opportunities available. Interested parties should contact Danny Sammons at 609-888-3618 or via e-mail at danny@aarn.com.
Dirt track racing in Trenton effectively ended in 1957 when the one mile dirt oval at the New Jersey State Fairgrounds was paved. Prior to World War II, Trenton Speedway operated as a half mile dirt track. One of the first auto races in history was held September 24, 1900 at the Fairgrounds on a half mile dirt track built for that specific purpose.
The Chili Bowl in Tulsa, OK, held annually in mid-January, is considered the largest indoor dirt race of its kind with racing held over a two week period for both the 600 Micro Sprints and the full-size Midgets. Indoor dirt track racing, however, has not been held in the northeast for over a decade.
The Trenton Dirt Indoor race, will be the first of four Indoor Auto Racing Series Fueled By VP Racing Fuels races that comprise the most ambitious Indoor racing season yet. The race will not be a point’s race for the series title.
Three weekend events will be held as in the past on a concrete floor surface.
The ‘hard surface’ opener comes in a return to the PPL Center in Allentown, Pa., with a two-race weekend planned Friday and Saturday, January 5-6, 2017.
That is followed on January 26-27, 2017 for the sixteenth annual Gambler’s Classic inside Atlantic City’s historic Boardwalk Hall.
A first time, new event has been scheduled for the Times Union Center in Albany, N.Y., for February 9-10.
Ticket information, entry forms, sponsorship opportunities, and event schedules, including support classes, will be available, as finalized for all events at www.indoorautoracing.com

ERICK RUDOLPH WINS THIRD GAMBLER’S CLASSIC THREE QUARTER (TQ) MIDGET IN ATLANTIC CITY’S BOARDWALK HALL, RYAN FLORES IS INDOOR AUTO RACING SERIES CHAMPION; CALE ROSS WINS RACE AND TITLE IN CHAMP KARTS, SLINGSHOT WIN TO GARY HIEBER AND TITLE TO DANNY BUCCAFUSCA
ATLANTIC CITY, NJ January 29, 2017 . . . Erick Rudolph of Ransomville, N.Y., staved off a furious last lap challenge off the final turn by Zane Zeiner of Bath, Pa., and won the NAPA Know How Racing Weekend Three Quarter (TQ) Midget Gambler's Classic 40-lap feature by a razor thin margin inside historic Boardwalk Hall on Saturday night.
“I wasn't sure about it, to be honest,” said Rudolph of the outcome. “I knew it was very close.
The actual margin of victory, .012 seconds, was the closest margin for a race winner in the history of the Indoor Auto Racing Series.
“He (Rudolph) made one little mistake there at the end and I was right there,” Zeiner said. “Someday soon, I am going to win one of these things.”
Matt Janisch was a close third, Jimmy Blewett fourth and Mike Lichty, who was making his first Indoor Auto Racing Series start of the season, completed the top spots.
Scott Kreutter, Jon Reid, Andrew Nye, Brandon Azzalina and Ryan Flores completed the top ten.
The tenth place result was enough for Flores to win his first Indoor Auto Racing Series points championship.
“The point title is what we worked hard for all year,” Flores said. “I would like to have done better in this race but winning the title was the goal and we achieved it.”
Gary Hieber started up front and finished there to win the 25-lap Slingshot feature. Hieber outran Danny Buccafusca for the race win but in finishing second, Buccafusca won the Slingshot Indoor Auto Racing Series points championship. Seth Spayd, Cody Kline and Kyle Herve completed the top five. Kurt Bettler entered the weekend as a contender for the Slingshot title but spun out late in the race and finished 19th.
Cale Ross backed up his Indoor Auto Racing Series Champ Kart race win at Trenton in December with a win in Saturday's Champ Kart feature. Ross held off Eric Zeh and Todd Crenchaw to secure the race win and by crossing the line first, also won the Indoor Auto Racing Series Champ Kart points championship. Ryan Swartz and Ryan Kendall ere the remainder of the top five. Perennial favorite Chris Daley was involved in two separate crashes during the race and finished twenty-first.
In preliminary TQ Midget racing action Saturday night, Flores, Blewett, Andy Jankowiak, Lichty, Reid and Azzalina each won heat races. B-Main TQ Qualifiers were won by Andrew Krause, Andrew Nye and Timmy Catalano. The five lap TQ Midget Dash which set starting positions for the first nine was won by Rudolph.
In Saturday afternoon preliminary action, Scott Kreutter won the Last Chance Qualifier for TQ Midgets, Dylan Hoch and Joe Toth the pair of Slingshot qualifiers, and Todd Crenchaw and Joey Bruning the pair of B Mains for Champ Karts.
Len Sammons Motorsports Productions and the Indoor Auto Racing Series announced dates for the 2018 Gambler's Classic. The 16th running of the race is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, January 26-27, 2018.

BONSIGNORE, CHRISTOPHER, ZEINER, ILES PUNCH TICKETS TO NAPA KNOW HOW GAMBLER’S CLASSIC WITH WINS IN FRIDAY NIGHT’S FOUR TWENTY LAP THREE QUARTER (TQ) MIDGET FEATURES; BONSIGNORE FASTEST IN TIME TRAILS AT ATLANTIC CITY’S BOARDWALK HALL
RACING FINAL ACTION SET FOR SATURDAY NIGHT
ATLANTIC CITY, NJ Friday, January 27, 2017 . . . Justin Bonsignore, Ted Christopher, Zane Zeiner and Mike Iles hit Big Casino Friday inside Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall by winning the four 20-lap A-Main TQ Midget Qualifiers that were the highlight of Friday’s program of Indoor Auto Racing. Their wins guaranteed each a starting spot in Saturday’s Gambler’s Classic 40-lap headliner which offers a $5,000 first place prize.
Bonsignore and Christopher were the winners of the first two TQ Midget 20-lap A-Main Qualifiers. Bonsignore passed race leader Jimmy Blewett to win the first race, then held off Ryan Tidman and Blewett to secure the win.
“Jimmy was really tight in the corners and I was able to set him up,” Blewett said. “Great to win it.”
Christopher overcame an early race penalty for overly aggressive driving, then outran Ryan Flores and Ryan Preece to win.
“It doesn’t mean much really,” Christopher said. “Other than getting in the feature.”
In the third and fourth races, Zane Zeiner and Mike Iles were the victors. Zeiner passed leader Earl Paules twice, once for the lead and a second time when a spin negated the pass and Zeiner had to do it a second time.
“We have changed everything on this car more than once,” Zeiner said. “The track is pretty good for us now. I hope it stays that way.”
Iles outran Matt Janisch to win the fourth race. Iles the only dirt track winner this night, had previously announced his intention to stop racing Dirt Modifieds.
“These cars are physical,” said a tired but smiling Iles. “I have sold off the Modifieds but I think I’ll spend a few more years driving these cars.”
Earlier in TQ Midget time trials, Bonsignore led the 72 car field with a 7.975 time, close to, but just shy of Erick Rudolph’s 2016 standard. Ted Christopher, Zane Zeiner, Matt Janisch and Erick Rudolph rounded out the top five TQ Midgets time trials.
Slingshots and Champ also figured in the Friday action.
Cole Hentschel, Vern McLaughlin III and Cody Kline won the three heat races. Brett Bieber’s 9.789 time bested a 38-car field.
Mike Perry, Richie Spaide, and Ryan Swartz claimed the three Champ Kart qualifiers. Zach Myers with a 9.411 lap, was fastest Champ Kart qualifier at 9.411. Forty-three took time. Several Champ Kart entrants were docked a lap in qualifying after Indoor Auto Racing Series found irregularities in their tires preparation.
The NAPA Know How Racing Weekend in Boardwalk Hall continues tomorrow, Saturday, with the running of the 15th annual Gambler’s Classic. Champ Karts and Slingshots will also compete in feature races.

NASCAR STAR RYAN PREECE SEEKS TO REVERSE BAD THREE QUARTER MIDGET INDOOR RACING LUCK IN ATLANTIC CITY’S GAMBLERS CLASSIC THIS WEEKEND, JANUARY 27-28
ATLANTIC CITY, NJ January 24, 2017 . . . NASCAR driving talent Ryan Preece will be heading to Atlantic City this week on a mission. After being fast in practice the last three years for the NAPA Know How race weekend held inside famous Boardwalk Hall, Preece has had problems that have kept him from the starting line-up of the Gambler's Classic. This year, the Berlin, Conn. driver who competed full-time on NASCAR's Xfinity series in 2016, hopes to not only be part of the 24 car starting field but win the 15th running of the race.
Preece will be among more than 80 drivers competing in TQ Midgets this weekend, Friday and Saturday, January 27th and 28th.
“I’ve never had any luck at Atlantic City with the Three Quarter Midgets (TQs),” Preece said. “I’m looking to turn it around this year.”
Preece, 26, is coming off one of the most unusual and challenging seasons of his career racing full-time on the NASCAR Xfinity Series.
After considerable soul searching, Preece recently left his Xfinity ride to return to his first love, NASCAR Asphalt Modified racing.
“I felt like I did everything I could with what I had to work with,” Preece said. “It wasn’t going to go anywhere. I’m used to running up front, not just being in the field.”
TQ Midget racing, something Preece has done on and off for the past four years, is back on the front burner for him this weekend in Atlantic City.
The car Preece will be driving is the same one that he has driven in each of his previous Indoor races. The car is partially owned by Preece’s NASCAR Whelen Modified owner, Eddie Partridge, and will carry Partridge’s number, six, and his white and black colors. Donny Preece, Ryan’s second cousin, will assist Ryan’s father Jeff in the pit area. Donny was one of the team principals instrumental in orchestrating Ted Christopher’s remarkable run of eight Indoor TQ feature wins over time.
It's a TQ Midget Preece has been fast with until problems have sidelined him the last two years.
“It is a DART chassis that we bought from Mike Roselli,” Preece said. “The front and rear suspensions are pretty much the same as they were when we bought it. Chassis Dynamics straightened it after the last crash we had with it.”
Preece never got out of Thursday's closed practice sessions the first two years. In 2014 he blew the motor in his car and the following year he hopped a wheel and crash hard. His frustrations continued last year.
“I was racing to qualify when a wheel came apart and I crashed," said Preece. "I fixed the car and Saturday night was fast and in a qualified spot until the alternator shorted out and the battery died."
Preece, who will contend for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Touring Series championship this year, will have some tough competition to deal with all weekend.
Ryan Flores of Cornelius, N.C., Erick Rudolph of Ransomville, N.Y., and Anthony Sesely of Hazlet, N.J., enter the Gambler’s Classic as the three pre-race favorites.
Flores swept the most recent TQ Midget races on December 30-31 in Allentown, Pa., and comes into Boardwalk Hall as the Indoor Auto Racing 2016-2017 Series point leader.
Rudolph raced to victory in the December, 2016 Series opener in Trenton, N.J. and is the defending Indoor Auto Racing Series point’s champion. He has won seven previous TQ Indoor racing events in his career.
Sisley is the defending winner of the Gambler’s Classic. He is the only three-time winner of the marquee Indoor race. Sisley will be driving his own 600cc Micro Sprint, the same car he won each of his three Gambler’s Classics with. Sesely had driven different cars in the previous Indoor Auto Racing Series.
Fifty Champ Kart and forty Slingshot entries have also been filed for the event under card races.
Event information, including ticket sales and hotel room deals are available at www.indoorautoracing.com or by phoning 609-888-3618.
Spectator gates open on Friday at 6:30 pm with racing starting at 7:30. The feature attraction will be four 20 lap events for the TQ Midgets with the fastest qualifiers in each event starting in the seventh starting position! Results from time trials held earlier in the afternoon and these races will then set guaranteed starters for Saturday’s Gambler’s Classic as well as important qualifier starting spots. The Slingshots and Champ Karts will also run a series of qualifying races.
The grandstand on Saturday opens at 5:00 pm with FanFest taking place on the racing floor for those holding reserved seats. Racing starts at 7:00 pm with a series of TQ Midget qualifiers and a TQ Dash followed by features for the Champ Karts, Slingshots and then the 40 lap TQ Midget Gambler’s Classic.

“I know I’ll be starting pretty much from scratch but all race cars are the same. You need to work to make them as fast as they can be,” said Solomito, a winner of four NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour event this year.
The hard charger from Islip, N.Y., believes he has several advantages that will benefit him in his initial TQ quest.
“I ran a few Champ Kart races indoors before so I know what to expect as far as the track,” Solomito said. ”I never won one but had a third once. I like it, but most times I never had much luck finishing.”
Solomito has also been a keen observer of the Len Sammons Motorsports Productions (LSMP) Indoor Racing Series Presented By VP Race Fuels TQ races this season and in past years.
“That helps, running a Kart indoors before and seeing the TQs race from the other side of the fence. You can get a feel for who you will be racing against. What also will help is my experience racing a Legends car for a few years at Riverhead. The motors in the Legends cars are about the same as the TQs. The Legends are heavier cars but I feel knowing the engine will be an advantage for me.”
Solomito has two more aces up his sleeve.
“Justin (Bonsignore) and I are longtime friends. He has been running TQs indoors for a couple of years. and we have talked about a lot of things,” Solomito said of Bonsignore who also won four race on the NASCAR Modified Tour and finished second, one position ahead of him in the standings.
The opportunity for Solomito to drive a TQ came when the seat in Ken Sebring’s No. 21 TQ Midget became available after its driver Andy Jankowiak decided to build his own car for Atlantic City’s TQ race. The car has a fourth place finish to its credit this Indoor season.
“If everything works out, I might buy a TQ for next year,” Solomito tipped. “I’ll see how much I like it in Atlantic City.”
Since Solomito missed the first two Indoor Auto Racing Series Presented By VP Race Fuels events at Trenton, N.J., and Allentown Pa., he will not be a contender for the season points championship. Ryan Flores, Erick Rudolph and Jimmy Blewett head to historic Boardwalk Hall as pre-race title favorites. Flores, of Cornelius, N.C., swept both Allentown TQ A-Main 40-lap features, the first TQ Midget wins of his career, after finishing second no less than five times in past years. Rudolph, the defending series champion and winner of the event this year in Trenton, NJ, lost battles for the lead with Flores both nights in Allentown. Blewett is third in points, three behind Rudolph but 80 out of first place held by Flores. Drivers earn points in time trial and preliminary races in addition to the feature.
Anthony Sesely of Matawan, N.J., who has won four times in Atlantic City including last year’s Gambler’s Classic, is another driver that cannot be counted out despite tough outings in Trenton and Allentown driving for car owner Lou Cicconi.
