Grosso Gets Job Done At New Egypt; Simmons Mr. Crate Modified 2019
New Egypt, NJ – Belle Mead, NJ’s Brandon Grosso picked up his first New Egypt Speedway victory of 2019 on Saturday night during Jeep Night 2. Ryan Simmons was crowned Mr. Crate Modified for 2019 by winning the Mr. Crate Classic while Rich Mellor picked up his sixth Larry’s Hot Rods & Harley’s Northeast Wingless Sprint Car feature with Dominick Antonelli scoring his first career Mike’s Performance Center 4-Cylinder feature.
Blaine Bracelin jumped out to the early lead and would lead the first five laps of the Modified feature with Danny Bouc in tow after getting to the second position on lap two with Brandon Grosso following him up through the field. Grosso would wrestle the lead away from Bracelin on a lap five restart with Bouc now in second followed closely by Billy Pauch Jr. and last week’s winner David Van Horn. Pauch Jr. would move in to the runner-up spot on lap six and began to chase down Grosso. Pauch Jr. would officially lead lap nine by a bumper over Grosso with an outside pass but a yellow would fall negating the pass before the field was past the stripe handing the lead back to Grosso. On the ensuing restart Grosso would take the outside lane and pulled away to a five-car length lead over Pauch Jr. The field would encounter lapped traffic at the halfway mark, as Brandon Grosso’s lead would fluctuate as they diced through the back of the field. Finally with just three laps to go Pauch Jr. would shrink the lead to just a couple car lengths closing even more with two to go, but it would be to no avail as Brandon Grosso would take the win by just two car lengths over Pauch Jr. David VanHorn would come home third with Danny Bouc and Davey Sammons rounding out the top five.
“On that restart I picked the top after he was trying to play games, I just had to play some of my own games and I got away from him and that was it”, said Grosso post race. “These guys that race here are tough no matter where you start, its tough to beat these guys. Once I got the lead I felt comfortable up top so I just stayed there.”
Ryan Simmons was the eventual winner of the 30-lap Mr. Crate Classic after Steve Davis took the checkered flag first but was found illegal in post-race tech inspection. The $750 victory was Simmons’ second win of the 2019 season after picking up the win on opening night. Jeremy Martino, Steve Hicks, Eric Palmer and Anthony Tramontana Jr. completed the top five,
“Ill take it, I’m happy to be here and we did it the right way”, spoke Simmons after the races.
Rich Mellor picked up his sixth Larry’s Hot Rods and Harley’s Northeast Wingless Sprint Car win of 2019 on Saturday after an epic battle at the front of the field throughout the closing laps of the event. Brian Spencer would come home second for the second straight week, Larry Drake, Duane Nixon and Brad Schaale were the rest of the top five.
Dominick Antonelli would finally shake the monkey off his back and win his first career Mike’s Performance Center 4-Cylinder win at the New Egypt Speedway. Joe Garey Sr., TJ Graves, Justin Dunn and Joe King completed the top five.
New Egypt Speedway is back in action next Saturday night August 10th with Toms River Township night. All Toms River and area township residents will be admitted free in to the grandstands with proof of residency. The Vahlco Wheels Modifieds will be the headlining division. The Mid Atlantic 305 Sprint Cars will make their final 2019 NES stop next Saturday as well. The Hammer Sportsman and Street Stocks will round out the racing card.
Adult Admission (16+) is $20, Seniors (65+) are $18, Teens (12-15) & Military w/ID are $10 while Kids 11 & Under are FREE. Pit gates will open at 4PM with the grandstands opening at 5PM. Hot Laps are scheduled for 6PM with racing scheduled to begin at 7PM next Saturday.

VON DOHREN AND BUTLER WIN NASCAR FEATURE RACES AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY
$10,000 TO WIN FORREST ROGERS MEMORIAL MODIFIED CLASSIC ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 10
BECHTELSVILLE, PA. August 3, 2019 . . . Craig Von Dohren, eliminated from last week’s feature, redeemed himself on Saturday night at Grandview Speedway. The Oley, PA lead foot started 16th and cautiously worked his way to the front behind the wheel of the Pioneer Pole Building/Keith Harring Transportation No. 1C in the activities broadcast by RCN TV, Allentown.
By the halfway marker he was third battling with the Strunk brothers Jeff, second and Glenn in the lead. The ten-time point champion made a daring move for the top spot. He shot under Jeff, who was committed to the outside and then powered the Nick Gatto Engine car around Glenn coming off the fourth turn for the lead on the 16th lap.
Von Dohren maintained his composure and went on to chalk up his fourth win of the season in the TP Trailers 30-lap NASCAR 358 Modified feature.
Jack Butler, denied victory in the Firecracker 40-lap Sportsman feature several weeks ago, was determined not to let anyone stop him this time. When leader Jesse Landis and Butler came out of the fourth turn, Butler was on a mission and moved to the high side in an attempt to become the new leader. It was a successful move and he was now first on the 19th lap.
Butler remained the leader of the T.P. Truck Equipment NASCAR Sportsman 25-lap feature the rest of the way and collected his second win of the season.
Providing the feature winners met the necessary requirements, they received monetary awards from T.P. Trailers and a certificate from VP Fuels for product awards. The Dan’s Deli ½-way hoagie award recipients were Glenn Strunk and Landis. Parker Guldin, who finished 16th in the Sportsman feature received an extra monetary bonus from the track for using the first crate engine.
Bobby Gunther Walsh was off and running at the onset of the Modified feature with Glenn Strunk, Justin Grim, Jordan Henn and rookie and one time feature winner Dylan Swinehart in pursuit.
Gunther Walsh distanced himself from the field within a few laps, but by the tenth lap G. Strunk reeled him in.
John Willman regrouped the field when he slowed his pace on the 12th lap to bring out the first yellow. On the restart G. Strunk became the new leader with J. Strunk and Von Dohren following through for second and third respectively as Gunther Walsh fell to fourth.
It was the 16th lap Von Dohren made a bold move and passed the Strunk’s to take over first.
Gunther Walsh’s fine run ended on the 19th lap when he stopped in the third turn out of contention for the caution. It was still Von Dohren and J. Strunk one and two, but by now Brett Kressley, who started midway in the starting field, joined the battle followed by Louden Reimert and G. Strunk.
Once Von Dohren was in first he never surrendered the spot and at the wave of the checkered it was Saturday night career win number 109. Finishing second was J. Strunk followed by Kressley, Umbenhauer and current point leader Duane Howard.
Heat winners were J. Strunk, Henn, G. Strunk and Reimert. Rick Laubach and last week’s feature winner Doug Manmiller won the consies.
Next week these same drivers plus a host of others including defending race winner Ray Swinehart will participate in the events leading up to the Forrest Rogers Memorial TP Trailers 50-lap NASCAR feature in memory of the man that started it all in 1963.
Tom Miller, who collected his first career win at the track a few weeks ago, led the Sportsman feature for six laps before he went spinning into the backstretch infield and Jesse Landis emerged as the new leader.
Dicing for positions behind Landis were Chris Esposito, Brad Brightbill, Butler and Kyle Lilick.
Butler overtook second on the 15th lap restart needed when Nate Brinker and Sean Weiss, last week’s feature winner, tangled on the backstretch.
Landis and Butler battled for the lead for four laps before Butler shot to the outside of Landis and to the front of the pack on lap 19.
Brightbill overtook second with two laps to go to challenge Butler, but was not able to pass him.
Butler went on to claim his second career victory followed by Brightbill, Landis, Lilick and Esposito.
Big bucks, $10,000, goes to the winner of the Saturday, August 10th Forrest Rogers Memorial, that is a 50-lapper for the NASCAR 358 Modifieds, and ten time track champion Craig Von Dohren will be trying to hold off a large number of challengers as he shoots for his 9th win in the Classic. Modifieds and Sportsman will take part in 49th annual Forrest Rogers Memorial night of racing action. Racing gets the green at 7:30 p.m. Adult admission is $25, youngsters 6 through 11 pay just $ and those under 6 are admitted free. Pit admission is $30.
Free backpacks, just in time for school openings, courtesy of Craig Whitmoyer and Snyder Web Design, will be given away at the Rogers Memorial. Kids must pick up their free tickets Saturday night at the main entrance, right on up until heat races are completed, with five boys and five girls having their lucky tickets drawn at intermission to win the backpacks.
In addition to the backpacks, school kits and activity books, all part of the KIDS DRIVE NASCAR KIT, will be given away at the main gate while supplies last.

HEARNE HURTLES TO MODIFIED RACE WIN AT WALL SATURDAY
WALL, N.J. ~ On the same speedway on which his father Gil Hearne won a record setting 101 times, New Egypt speedster Jason Hearne fought off some of the best drivers in the business to win the 40-lap “Ladies' Night” feature race at Wall Stadium Speedway Saturday night. The All American Auto Group Modified win was Hearne's career fourth and his first in just over three years.
Hearne rocketed his famous family trademark No. 12 to the front at the outset but was never alone. Andrew Krause of Holmdel was the first to take a shot at the leader before Howell's Kevin Davison advanced to second and went after the leader starting on lap 12. Krause later advanced to second and went after Hearne again while former champion and current point leader Steven Reed of Jackson was always in the mix in this high speed chase. This battle for the win became even more intense thanks to several restarts due to mostly minor incidents.
At the finish Hearne's bright orange racer parked in the winner's circle while Krause, Reed, Jason's Jason Treat and Derek Hopkinson of Toms River wrapped up the top five.
“It feels great to win again,” Hearne said after the event. “Did I think I was going to win again? The way my luck has been going I didn't think I was going to finish a race again! I have to thank Jim Wolf. He has been with me in this for 20 years. Also want to thank Bob from Echo Hills Farm. He is here every race.”
Jarret DiGiantomasso of Jackson raced to victory in the companion 25-lapper for the Center State Engineering Sportsman cars taking the lead with just three laps remaining. DiGiantomasso took command when early leader Tommy Martino of Farmingdale got out of shape exiting turn two involving several racers including DiGiantomasso's brother Carsten.
Wrapping up the top five at the finish were Neil Rutt III of Edison, Jackson's Shanon Mongeau, Roland DeMartino of Beachwood and Lanoka Harbor's Jonathan Laureigh.
After trying all season for a victory Alonzo Morales of Mt. Ephraim grabbed two Surfside Collision 4 Cylinder Stock main event wins Saturday night. In the first race, rain postponed from earlier in the season, Morales chased Jeffrey Loesch of Neptune City to the line. When Loesch's car failed the post race inspection Morales earned the win over Rutt, Ricky Williams, Brick's Randy Hart and Chuck McDonald of Groton, Ct.
Morales enjoyed the win in the second race as Rutt, Loesch, Ryan Maher of Neptune City, and McDonald wrapped up the top five.
Point leader Shanon Mongeau of Jackson won his sixth Mike Performance Center Limited Late Model 25-lap race of the season while Krause, Hazlet's Chris Silvestri, Andy Gamble and Jim Moorman were second through fifth.
Auto racing continues at Wall Stadium Speedway this Saturday (August 10) night. Action is slated for the Modifieds, Sportsman, Limited Late Models, Factory Stocks and 4 Cylinder Stocks. Grandstand gates open at 5:00 p.m., qualifying begins at 5:45 p.m. and features start at 7:00 p.m.

CHRIS WINDOM SHINES AT KEN BRENN USAC MIDGET MASTERS; JEFF STRUNK GRABS GRANDVIEW CAREER WIN NUMBER 200, 14TH THUNDER VICTORY
BECHTELSVILLE, PA (July 30, 2019) – It was a thrilling night of racing Tuesday night at Grandview Speedway for the return of the USAC Midgets – teamed up with the NASCAR 358 Modifeds -- as part of the NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series. The Ken Brenn USAC Midget Masters event was won by Chris Windom, while Jeff Strunk picked up his second consecutive Thunder Modified win and fourteenth career Thunder victory.
The 30 lap victory marked Windom’s second career midget win, battling it out with teammate Tyler Courtney in the late stages of the event.
“I hated to see all those late race restarts,” Windom said in victory lane. “For us (he and Courtney) to finish first and second the first night into Pennsylvania Midget Week is pretty cool.”
Windom inherited the top starting position from Zeb Wise, who moved to a back-up car and was forced to the rear of the field.
At the drop of the green flag, Windom muscled to the front holding off Kevin Thomas Jr. for the initial five circuits around the one-third mile Bechtelsville raceway. With a battle building behind the top competitors, Courtney moved into the third position followed by Jason McDougal, and Kyle Larson.
The top five charged around nose-to-tail swapping race grooves and weaving in and out of lapped traffic, while Windom maintained the top spot.
The red flag flew on lap 23 for Steve Buckwalter, who rolled over after contact with a spinning Zeb Wise.
Courtney moved to second with five laps remaining as Tanner Carrick and Kyle Larson both battled past Kevin Thomas, Jr. With four competitors dicing it out for second position, Windom was able to pull away to a ten-car advantage.
A lap 28 caution slowed the field for the final time, and set up a two-lap dash to the checkered flag.
Windom held the point as the green flag waved, with teammate Tyler Courtney right on his rear bumper.
As the two approached for the white flag, Courtney shot to the bottom of the race track charging inside Windom securing the lead heading into turn 1. But Windom battled back down the backstretch, regained the top spot and scored the Ken Brenn Midget Masters win.
“I knew the slider was coming,” Windom said of Courtney in Victory Lane. “I’m just glad I was able to sneak back by him, I did everything I could to hold him off.”
After a valiant effort, Tyler Courtney would settle for second, Tanner Carrick finished in third, Tanner Thorson came from a 15th starting position to finish fourth, and Chad Boat finished in the fifth position.
Kyle Larson set the Quick Time with a lap of 14.310 setting an initial track record for the USAC Midgets. USAC Midget qualifying events were won by Tanner Thorson, Tyler Courtney, and Jason McDougal.
In the NASCAR 358 Modified event, Doug Manmiller and Tim Buckwalter led the field to the drop of the green flag with Manmiller holding the lead for the initial two laps. Buckwalter would takeover the top spot on lap three with Meme Desantis and Manmiller right on his tail.
All eyes were on Jeff Strunk as he moved into second on the eighth lap of the event – from his fifth-place starting spot. And powered past Buckwalter for the lead, two laps later.
In a race without any caution flags, Strunk was able to steer the Glenn Hyneman-owned number 126 machine around heavy lapped traffic maintaining the lead and claiming his 200th career victory.
Craig VonDohren closed in the late stages – but would settle for second place, Tim Buckwalter finished in third, Kevin Hirthler finished in fourth and Brett Kressley finished in fifth after starting in the 14th position.

Ken Brenn Sr. was on hand for the event in his honor posing for photographs alongside Kyle Larson – who piloted a Keith Kunz-owned midget painted up like Brenn’s famed number 24 machine.
The NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series returns on Thursday, August 22 with the Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions 410 Sprint Cars, alongside the NASCAR 38 Modifieds.

David VanHorn Blitzes the Field on Youth Football Night at NES
(July 27, 2019): David VanHorn of Ringoes, NJ won his second Vahlco Wheels Modified feature event of the season on Eastern Auto Parts Warehouse Youth Football Night Saturday at New Egypt Speedway. The 2018 Modified champion, DVH charged to the front quickly and never looked back as he recorded his 8th career victory in the 30 lap non stop event, which was completed in just 9 minutes and 14 seconds.
“I have to thank the guys up at DKM Fabrication, This car was on rails tonight!”, stated an elated VanHorn in victory lane, “I also want to thank my Dad for all of his help and Fred Vahlsing for giving me the opportunity to drive this car and all of his support”
JR Fulper and Pat Wall brought the field to the green flag with Fulper taking command. This was short lived as Wall drove under Fulper on lap 3 to take over the lead. Wall had his #5w glued to the inside guardrail as he tried to open up a little breathing room on the field. Danny Bouc, who started in fifth, was on the move racing into second on lap 5. Meanwhile VanHorn was charging thru the field using the top groove and was suddenly in third closing in on the leaders. Before Bouc could mount a serious challenge on Wall for the lead, DVH flew by on the outside sweeping to the front. Bouc quickly switched to the outside and followed VanHorn by Wall and into second. Bouc set his sights on reeling in VanHorn, however this was not to be as VanHorn’s #323 drove off into the night, while Bouc did everything he could to keep pace. With just 10 laps remaining lapped traffic came into play, but DVH handled it masterfully and cruised to the victory. Bouc settled for a solid and well-earned second place finish. Point leader Billy Pauch Jr. marched thru the field from his 13th starting position to come home third, Pat Wall used the inside groove to perfection finishing fourth and Mike Butler, who fell back in the pack early, came on strong late to finish in the top five.
Rich Mellor of North Hanover Twp., NJ padded his point lead by scoring his 5th victory of the season in the Larry’s Hot Rods and Harley’s Northeast Wingless Sprint cars. Mellor took the lead before the halfway point of the 20 lap event and drove to his 7th career win. Brian Spencer came home second in his new car, followed by Heidi Hedin, Duane Nixon and John Brammell.
David Burns of Flemington, NJ was victorious in the Hammer Sportsman 20 lap feature event, as he led his car owner and teammate Marty Resnick for most of the event when the races only caution flew on the final lap. Burns kept control on the restart and scored his first win of 2019. Three-time champion Bob Lineman Jr. grabbed second on the final turn as Resnick settled for third. JT Trstensky and Art Liedl rounded out the top five.
Brian Spencer outdueled point leader Billy Liedtka in just his second start for the 15 lap Street Stock victory. Spencer raced side by side with Liedtka over the final laps, beating the all-time leading Street Stock winner by a bumper at the stripe. Todd Dige finished third in his first time out this season, followed by Billy Wroble and Jim Avery.
Next week Sat. night August 3rd, it is Scout night & Jeep Night 2 at New Egypt Speedway. All Scouts in uniform will get in for free & everyone who brings their Jeep will receive ½ price general admission and there will be a Jeep parade on the track at intermission. The Vahlco Wheels Modifieds will once again headline the event, and they will be joined on the track by the Larry’s Hot Rods & Harleys NEWS Sprint Cars, the Crate Modifieds and the Mike’s Performance Center 4-cylinders. Gates will open at 5pm, with warm-ups at 6pm and the first race taking place at 7pm.
