BLEWETT ROLLS TO WALL 70TH ANNIVERSARY MODIFIED WIN
WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. ~ In front of a grandstand gathering that included Wall Township Mayor Carl Braun and Councilmen Tom Kingman, Tim Farrell and Kevin Orender, Jimmy Blewett of Howell won the “70th Anniversary Bash” 40-lap Modified stock car race at Wall Stadium Speedway Saturday night. The Mayor and Councilmen were on hand to present a proclamation that recognized the fact that the speedway has been a landmark in the community for seven decades during a pre-race ceremony.
Blewett took the lead in the early going with an outside lane pass, but this race was far from over. Tyler Truex of Mayetta was Blewett's challenger most of the way and offered several attacks on the top spot. Eddie McCarthy of Brick ran in a tight third early before Ron Frees of Lanoka Harbor took the third spot for good in the late going. Andrew Krause of Holmdel and Jackson's Blake Barney both came from deep in the 22-car field to wrap up the top five.
“I've been racing for a long time and this place has been a big part of my career,” Blewett said after his 79th win here. “It is pretty neat to win here with the anniversary celebration.”
Bryan O'Shea of Neptune City took the lead from former champ Mike Montano of Freeport, N.Y. on lap 19 and raced on to win the 25-lapper for the Factory Stock cars. Montano held on for second with Manchester's Scott Riggleman, Beachwood's Elliott Wohl and Howell's John Carpenter completing the top five.
With lapped traffic working to his benefit on the final circuit, Alonzo Morales of Burlington grabbed the top spot from Wall's TJ Graves at the checker flag to win the 4 Cylinder Stock 25-lap main event. Sal Liguori of Hazlet, Neptune City's Ryan Maher and Doug Ashford of Farmingdale were third through fifth.
Jake Nelke of Manahawkin took the lead early and raced on to victory in the Sportsman 25-lap feature race, while opening night winner Eric Lane of Howell finished second. Edison's Neil Rutt III overcame a qualifying crash for third, while brothers Carsten and Jarrett DiGiantomasso, both of Jackson, were fourth and fifth.
Returning to racing after a decade layoff, former champion Bryan Gardella of Brick raced to the win in the Legend Cars 25-lapper. Peter Bruno of Little Silver was second, with Colin Milroy of Southampton, Eric Green of Red Bank and Chris Gall of Brick completing the top five.
Chris Silvestri of Hazlet won his second straight Limited Late Model feature race over Mike Tillett of Bayville, Steve Puglisi of Toms River and Jackson's Greg Gastelu.
The 2020 Saturday night regular season continues this Saturday (August 8) evening with the Modifieds, Sportsman cars, Factory Stocks, Legend Cars and the traveling Three Quarter Midgets in action. On this evening the speedway will honor First Responders who present proper identification with an admission discount. The pit area will open at 12:30 p.m. Grandstands will open at 4:30 p.m., qualifying starts at 5:30 p.m. and main event action starts at 7:00 p.m.
Current plans call for Saturday night racing action to continue through early October with schedule details at wallspeedwayracing.com.
Wall Stadium is located on Route 34 in Wall Township, N.J., just one mile north of Garden State Parkway exit 98 and Interstate 195 exit 35B. The speedway hotline number is 732-681-6400 and email address is ckmotorsports@aol.com.

BRETT KRESSLEY SCORES BIGGEST WIN OF HIS CAREER AT GRANDVIEW WITH $10,000 PAYDAY IN 50TH ANNUAL FORREST ROGERS MEMORIAL; KYLE LILICK POSTS SPORTSMAN FEATURE VICTORY
BECHTELSVILLE, PA. August 2, 2020 . . . Brett Kressley has been having his share of dismal outings at Grandview Speedway this season with his best finish being a fourth place last week. Saturday night “The Threat” turned the tables and went home $10,000 richer by being the first to reach the checkered in the 50th anniversary edition of the Forrest Rogers Memorial the race in honor of the man who founded the track in 1963.
Standing in victory lane after winning the T.P. Trailers Modified NASCAR Advanced Auto Parts event, an emotional Kressley “who commented he used his head,” dedicated the win to his grandfather Willard to whom he was very close and had passed away a few weeks ago. He thanked everyone that helped put the Kressley Auto/Truck Sales No. 19K in the winner’s circle for his first triumph of the current campaign and earn the biggest win of his career.
Kyle Lilick also collected his season first win in the T.P. Truck Equipment NASCAR Sportsman 25-lap feature for his fifth career win at the track.
Providing the feature winners met the necessary requirements, they received monetary awards from T.P. Trailers and a certificate from VP Fuels for product awards. The Dan’s Deli ½-way hoagie award recipients were Kressley and Lilick. Jesse Leiby earned an extra $100 bonus from the track for being the highest crate engine finisher.
Both divisions are part of the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series made up of tracks across the nation.
At the drop of the green by starter Ray Kemp in the Modified main event, second place starter Kenny Gilmore shot past polesitter Carroll Hine III to take the early lead.
Dicing for positions behind Gilmore were Hine III, Brad Grim, Colt Harris and Ryan Watt.
The first yellow was out on the third lap when some of the front runners were shuffling positions making contact and through it Rick Laubach found himself in the homestretch wall. Laubach was not happy with the turn of events and left the driver that he felt initiated the incident know it since he was out of competition for the night. Ryan Grim was also a victim and out of the race. Gilmore held his own on the restart, but now Watt was in the runner-up position with Kressley right behind pressuring.
Watt became the new leader on the eighth lap and two laps later Kressley was second putting his bids in for first.
Mike Gular, already a feature winner this year, slowed in the second turn with a flat tire and rejoined the action after a quick pit stop. At the same time defending point champion and 2019 race winner Duane Howard was sent pit side with a broken shock tower. He returned, but was sent back in since it was not fixed to specifications since a driver cannot run with any front end suspension issues. When action resumed Kressley outgunned Watt to take control and show the way for the others.
By the 17th circuit lapped cars were causing the top five that were comprised of Kressley, Watt, Craig Von Dohren, Jeff Strunk and Doug Manmiller to use heads ups driving so as not to make contact with any of them as it got tricky at times.
Von Dohren cleared Watt on the 24th lap and set sail after Kressley with Watt, Strunk and Manmiller in tow.
The top five remained consistent as the race progressed, but they were all after Kressley, who was up to lapping some of the top ten cars.
It appeared Kressley got the monkey off his back and pulled into the winner’s circle for his 13th career win which he proved to be a lucky one, trailed by Von Dohren, Strunk, Watt, Manmiller, Jared Umbenhauer, Kyle Weiss and Craig Whitmoyer, the last car on the lead lap; Louden Reimert and Kenny Gilmore, who were both a lap down.
Watt, Kevin Hirthler, last week’s race winner; Ryan Lilick and Ryan Grim won the heats. Consies were won by Justin Grim and Craig Whitmoyer.
Two false starts hampered the beginning of the Sportsman feature, but once it did get underway rookie Decker Swinehart was the early leader with Lilick, Jesse Leiby, Dakota Kohler and Cole Stangle jockeying for positions.
Swinehart and Lilick continued to battle lap after lap and neither one gave way since they were both determined to win.
Lilick just got by Swinehart for the lead when the yellow came out for a fourth turn tangle at the ½-way mark.
With Lilick now ahead, Swinehart, Stangle, D. Kohler and Ryan Beltz diced for second through fifth and constantly swapping places back and forth.
Lilick never faltered and went on the chalk up career win number five. Swinehart crossed the line second, however, had a bitter disappointment when carburetor issues caused him to be disqualified. Stangle, Beltz, D. Kohler and Jesse Leiby were second through fifth. Rounding out the top ten were Nate Brinker, Jack Butler, Jimmy Leiby, Brian Hirthler and Brad Arnold.
Scott Kohler, Tom Miller and Bryan Rhoads were the heat winners. Brad Arnold won the consi.
The chase for the Grandview NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series championships continues next Saturday, August 8, with the T.P.Trailers Modifieds and T.P.Truck Equipment Sportsman in action. A full slate of qualifying events leads up to a 30-lap feature for the Modifieds and 25-laps for the Sportsman. Spectator gates open at 5:30 p.m. with racing action at 7:30 p.m. Adult admission is just $15 while youngsters 12 admitted FREE. Check in at www.grandviewspeedway.com for more info.

DEFENDING MODIFIED CHAMPION HOWARD AND PAST SPORTSMAN CHAMPION BRIAN HIRTHLER LEAD POINT BATTLES AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY; $10,000 UP FOR GRABS IN 50TH ANNUAL FORREST ROGERS MEMORIAL FOR MODIFIEDS SATURDAY NIGHT
BECHTELSVILLE, PA July 28, 2020 . . . The battle for the NASCAR T.P.Trailers Modified title is tight at Grandview Speedway with defending champion Duane Howard, without benefit of a feature win, leading the standings with 1315 points. Ten time champion Craig Von Dohren, the only driver in the top five to have a win so far this season, sits second with 1296, Doug Manmiller is third with 1259 followed by Jared Umbenhauer at 1166 and Ryan Grim sitting with 1096 counters.
All the point chasers, part of the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Racing Series, are looking forward to Saturday’s 50th Annual Forrest Rogers Memorial. The 50-lapper for Modifieds will reward the winner with $10,000 and, of course, a bunch of championship points.
The T.P.Truck Equipment Sportsman will be part of the Saturday night action with point leader Brian Hirthler leading the field. The early season feature winner Hirthler has 1017 points and that gives him a 15 point edge over Brad Arnold sitting with 1002. Mark Kemmerer has tallied 963 points to hold on to third followed by Chris Esposito at 930 counters and Jack Butler earning 897 points
With just five point events completed so far because of the late season start caused by the virus issues, the season looks to be a tight battle for the championships in each division and the big bucks that wait for the title winners.
And T.P.Trailers Modified talents can’t forget the big bucks available this Saturday for competitors taking part in the Forrest Rogers Memorial. The field of entries will include popular racers such as Von Dohren, Howard, Jeff Strunk, Rick Laubach, Manmiller, Umbenhauer, John Willman, Ray Swinehart, Mike Gular, Kevin Hirthler, Craig Whitmoyer and a long list of others. And there are some outsiders expected. A full slate of qualifying events will be presented with the top performers moving on to the 50-lap Classic.
This will be the 50th annual race remembering Forrest Rogers, the man who had the idea for the speedway and was the creator. The Rogers Family carry on the operation of the track now in its 58th year.
Longtime fan Jim Gilmore has posted $200 for the leader of the 7th lap in the name of the late Charley Gilmore, a long time standout racer at Grandview and other area tracks.
An added attraction will be the Acoustic Band featuring 1973 Freedom 76 winner Roger Knappenberger and his son Pete an auto racing radio personality. The band titled Maddie-Pearl will perform in the first turn pavilion from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
And as is the norm the folks from the Low Down and Dirty Radio show will be presenting their Meet & Greet at the main gate starting at 5 p.m.
Adult admission is $25 while youngsters 6 through 11 pay just $5. And kids under 6 are admitted free. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. for spectators and racing starts at 7:30 p.m. Rain date is Saturday, August 8th.
Additional information is available at www.grandviewspeedway.com, Facebook or telephone the speedway office at 610.754.7688.
The one-third-mile, banked clay track is located on Passmore Road, just off Route 100, in Bechtelsville, PA 10 miles north of Pottstown.
