THE JERSEY RUSH
IRENE FAILS TO STOP THE JERSEY RUSH. . . . .
JJ GRASSO STORMS TO IMPRESSIVE $5,000 410 SPRINT VICTORY AS BILLY PAUCH TOPS THE MODIFIEDS IN THE "JERSEY RUSH" TUESDAY NIGHT AT NEW EGYPT SPEEDWAY
NEW EGYPT, NJ . . . . . . Rain, hail, sleet and snow will not stop the mailman and Hurricane Irene was not about to stop the first presentation of the "JERSEY RUSH" Tuesday night at the New Egypt Speedway.
The event battled plenty of rain, damaging high winds and even a power outage at the track, but when it was all said and done, JJ Grasso of Pedricktown, NJ lived up to his "Jersey Jet" name to win the 30 lap, $5,000 to win JERSEY RUSH. Grasso wrestled the lead from Mark Smith on lap thirteen and survived two restarts to score his first ever 410 sprint car victory. Grasso was driving the John PInter owned sprinter and for Grasso, it was just his second time driving a 410 sprinter. In the thirty lap modified feature, Billy Pauch was the winner. Pauch started deep in the pack and took the lead on lap nineteen for David Van Horn. Pauch earned $3,000 for the victory in the feature event that ran non-stop. The checker flag in the modified feature fell at 10 PM, allowing the big crowd ample time to visit their favorite drivers in the pit area.
The JERSEY RUSH was a co-promotion between Lenny Sammons, his sons Danny and Davey and special events organizer Bob Miller. The show was viewed as a big success as a result of the large crowd on hand, outstanding dust-free track conditions and an efficiently well run program thanks the officials and staff of the New Egypt Speedway.
In the 410 sprint time trials, Lance Dewease set a new one lap track record of 14.193 for the recently re-configured "D" shaped New Egypt Speedway. Sprint heat race winners were Davey Sammons, Daryn Pittman and Rick Lafferty. In the big block modifieds, heats were won by Dave Hunt, David Van Horn and Billy Pauch as Stan Frankenfield won the modified consolation.
In the 30 lap JERSEY RUSH for sprint cars, Mark Smith led the field down for the green flag in the feature event. Smith set the pace with JJ Grasso in the chase followed by Davey Sammons, Lance Dewease and Rick Lafferty. By lap seven, Smith had a six car length lead over Grasso as all eyes were on Daryn Pittman who now moved into fifth.
On lap night, Grasso took a run at the lead, pulling within inches of Smith and as the field passed the line on lap nine. The yellow was then displayed for Davey Sammons who tagged the inside guardrail and spun in turn four as Shane Stewart spun to avoid contact.
When green flag racing resumed, Mark Smith continued to set the pace with Grasso about three car lengths behind as Lance Dewease and Daryn Pittman tried to reel in the top two. The move of the race came on lap fourteen when Grasso made the pass around Mark Smith for the lead. As the field passed for the halfway mark, Grasso was the leader followed by Mark Smith, Pittman, Dewease and Rick Lafferty.
The second yellow flag of the race was displayed on lap sixteen for Dave Wilson and Robbie Stillwaggon who spun in turn four. The restart saw Grasso get a good jump on the field, pulling a six car length lead by lap seventeen. On lap nineteen, the yellow was displayed, this time for Jim Campbell.
On the restart, Mark Smith managed to stay closer to Grasso with an attempt to regain the lost position and by the way, Daryn Pittman was now charging after the leaders followed by Dewease and Fred Rahmer now in the top five.
Grasso maintained a several car length lead by now Smith had to stop challenging for the lead and start defending his runner-up spot from Daryn Pittman. It was a two car race for second with Smith and Pittman battling for the final five laps.
With the checker flag waiving, Grasso scored an impressive win over Mark Smith, Daryn Pittman, Lance Dewease and Fred Rahmer.
Billy Pauch
In the thirty lap modified feature, David Van Horn was the early race leader with Jimmy Blewett in the chase along with Tim Tanner Jr. The side-by-side battles where taking place everywhere on the finely prepared track surface. On lap ten, Tanner made a bid for the lead, but settled back into the runner-up spot. Blewett ran in third with Jeff Strunk now joining the party in fourth with Jimmy Horton fifth. By lap fourteen, Blewett moved into second on lap fourteen and made his bid to reel in the leader.
At the halfway point of the race, Van Horn was running a brilliant race with Blewett second and out of nowhere, Billy Pauch moved into the picture racing third with Tanner and Strunk making up the top five. On lap sixteen, Pauch moved into second and set out to chase down the leader.
By lap nineteen, Pauch was the leader with Van Horn now in second followed by Blewett, Strunk and Horton.. With just five laps remaining, Jeff Strunk pass Blewett and took over the third position. Pauch had a solid lead but there was still plenty of passing within the rest of the field. On the final lap, Jimmy Horton passed Jimmy Blewett to finish fourth with Blewett fifth. Pauch took the win with Van Horn second and Jeff Strunk third.

Bobby Devault The TSRS Winner At New Egypt

Tri-State RaceSaver Series
NEW EGYPT, NJ - August 20, 2011
It was Christmas in August night at the New Egypt Speedway and it arrived early for Bobby Devault as he claimed his second career TSRS feature win.
An all ladies front row of Stephanie Stevens and Stephanie Palmai would lead a strong field of sprinters to the green flag. At the drop of the green flag Palmai would grab the initial lead but following a third turn accident involving Frank Leito, Jeff Schall and Bruce Kindberg a complete restart was in order. On the restart Palmai would once again grap the top spot and build an early lead as Stevens, Jeff Geiges, Devault and Chuck Palmucci would stage an exciting battle for position.
Joe Lord
Joe Lord charging his way towards the front brought out the second yellow of the night as he came in contact with the fence between turns one and two.
Once again this would tighten up the field with Palmai on the point followed by Geiges, Devault, Palmucci and Stevens.
At the drop of the green Palmai would hold-off the challenges of Geiges and distance herself with a hot battle ensuing between Geiges, Devault and Palmucci. Devault would pass Geiges for the runner-up spot with Palmucci and Kyle Reinhardt entering the top five from his twelveth starting spot. A final caution would fall on lap 15 as Sean Campbell came to stop on the back stretch. Once again Palmai's lead would be cut with Devault on her tail at the drop of the green.Devault would continue to pressure Palmai as the two put on a spectacular show for the fans. With a lap and a half remaining Devault was able to hold his outside line and sweep around Palmai to grab the feature win with Palmai right behind for second. Defending series champ Jeff Geiges came home third followed by Chuck Palmucci and the young upstart, Kyle Reinhardt, rounding out the top five.

THE JERSEY RUSH AT NEW EGYPT
410 Sprints & Modified Double-header. . . . . .
JJ GRASSO TO MAKE 410 SPRINT DEBUT AT NEW EGYPT ON TUESDAY NIGHT, AUGUST 30 IN THE "JERSEY RUSH"
JJ Grasso, know in the 360 sprint ranks as the "Jersey Jet", will make his 410 sprint debut in the "JERSEY RUSH" 410 sprints and modified double-header at the New Egypt Speedway on Tuesday night, August 30.
Grasso is known for his flat out driving style and he always shows his best at the New Egypt Speedway, a track that he has dominated for several years. Grasso, will strap into the 410 sprint car owned by John Pinter and sponsored by The Audi Shop. CnB Mushrooms Chubby Ciarrocchi was instrumental in pulling together all the players to make this Pinter/Grasso merger happen. Pinter, a successful former modified driver himself, will also field his primary 410 sprint car that is driven weekly by Central Pennsylvania "hot shoe" Kevin Nouse.
Grasso was the 2009 URC Champion and is URC's current point leader with three wins this season and nineteen career URC triumphs. It's a great opportunity for Grasso to compete at his favorite track and there is no doubt that he'll be racing against some of the best drivers in the business of 410 sprint car racing. As for this big opportunity, Grasso is excited, Pinter is confident and Chubby just can't wait for August 30 and the "JERSEY RUSH".
Competition will be keen with nationally known drivers like Fast Freddie Rahmer of Salfordsville, PA, Tyler Walker of Los Angeles, CA a former 410 sprint car feature winner at New Egypt, Justin Henderson of Sioux Falls, SD, Greg Hodnett of Memphis, TN, Daryn Pittman of Owasso, OK, Lance Dewease of Fayetteville, PA, Davey Sammons of Bordentown, NJ, Mark Smith, Chad Layton, Frank Cozze, Kevin Nouse, Dave Ely and URC's seven time champion Curt Michael are just a few of the early pre-entries.
The 410 sprints are without a doubt the fastest race cars on dirt, with 900 horsepower and a weight of just 1,400 pounds, these cars will fly around the always exciting 7/16 mile "D" shaped speedway at speeds topping 120mph. Just imagine, twenty-four 410 sprint cars starting two abreast and taking the green flag as they race into that first turn! You'll first hear the roar, then feel the rumble when this race begins.
The sprints will compete in time trials, heat race events and a "B" Main (consolation) all leading up to the JERSEY RUSH, a 30 lap feature paying $5,000 to the winner.
There is still more to this show.
Also on the program will be the Big Block Modifieds, the traditional weekly star-filled division at New Egypt Speedway. Billy Pauch, Rick Laubach, Willie Osmun, Jimmy Horton, David VanHorn, Richie Pratt, Wade Hendrickson and a host of other modified stars will be on hand to chase the $3,000 first place prize to win the 30 lap modified feature. Heats and a consolation will determine the twenty-four car starting field. Between the 410 Sprints and Big Block Modifieds, one can expect "Double Trouble" in the twin 30 lap feature events.
A Driver & Crew Meet and Greet is being planned by race organizers for fans to get an up close look at the drivers and cars. The Meet & Greet will take place from 5-6 PM. The gate from Victory Lane (behind the turn four seating) to the pit area will open to allow spectators to go pit side for one hour prior to the start of this blockbuster event. Come out early and enjoy a great night of racing.
General admission is $30 for adults, $10 for children 6-11 and kids under the age of six will be admitted for Free. The pit fee is $35 and a license is not required.
The event is a co-promotion between Lenny Sammons, his sons and special events organizer Bob Miller.

BPG RACING SPONSORING MS. MOTORSPORTS 2012 PAGEANT
NAZARETH SPEEDWAY REUNION TO BE HIGHLIGHT OF SHOW
OAKS, PA August 10, 2011 . . . For the third straight year BPG Racing will be the sponsor of the popular Ms. Motorsports Pageant in 2012 and show management has announced that they will be remembering one of the great short track racing facilities of the past, the Nazareth Speedway.
BPG Racing, one of the most successful dirt track modified racing teams, is owned by successful Blue Bell, PA businessman Chad Sinon. “I am a big believer in giving back to the sport that has given me so much,” said Sinon. “It is something I enjoy doing and it certainly is a fun promotion.”
At present Sinon owns the modified stock cars that are driven by dirt track standout Duane Howard. The team currently is second in the NASCAR 358 modified point standings at Grandview Speedway seeking their second straight title. Sinon has the BPG Racing name associated with a number of events and race teams including the hugely successful BPG Racing Freedom 76 Classic presented at Grandview Speedway in mid-September. The BPG Racing sponsorship has also appeared on a World of Outlaw late model driven by Tim Fuller and on the NASCAR late model of four time Grandview track champion Chuck Schutz.
Ladies are reminded that it is not too early to be submitting entries for the pageant and complete entry info is available at aarn.com.
Show promoter Len Sammons also announced that Nazareth Speedway, a popular dirt track racing facility operated by the late Jerry Fried for many years, will be the center of attention when a Nazareth Reunion is presented.
“We are inviting racers that competed at the track to be part of the show,” said Sammons. “In addition we are looking for race cars from Nazareth’s colorful history and memorabilia for display purposes at the show. We feel there will be a tremendous amount of interest in this one, the track considered the playground of Frankie Schneider and Tom Hager and so many other outstanding dirt track racers.”
Those planning to be part of Motorsports 2012 should be making their show space reservations as soon a possible. Space is filling quickly.
"With the huge success of the show this year, we are anticipating that the 2012 show will be an even bigger success," said show promoter Len Sammons. "We are anticipating that the exhibit space will sell out even earlier than it has in the past."
Getting plans made early gives exhibitors the opportunity to start their promotional plans for the show and start getting the word out that they will be part of Motorsports 2012 Presented by VP’s Small Engine Fuels Race Car & Trade Show.
The three day show covers all of the space available in the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center at Oaks and gives attendees the opportunity to see just about anything and everything imaginable in motorsports.

Tim Hogue can provide those interested with all details on the show and send a complete color brochure that outlines all show details for those wanting to be exhibitors. And it is not to early for race teams to be thinking about having their race car on display at the show. Contact Tim at 609.888.3618.
The annual show, produced by Len Sammons and his staff, is considered by many to be the most successful show of its type on the East Coast.
