Bryan Hulbert - WEST BURLINGTON, Iowa (August 30, 2019) Holding on through heavy lapped traffic and letting the DriveWFX.com No. 52 eat the cushion of the 34 Raceway on Friday night, Blake Hahn's inaugural trip to the Iowa oval ended with his seventh career victory with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network, and first with the Sprint Invaders.

"I just have to say, this is one of the best tracks in Iowa. We don't normally get to race short tracks here, it's usually all big tracks and this place is high banks and slick to a curb; you couldn't ask for better," stated Hahn.

Coming down to the final two turns with Seth Bergman nearly taking the win away, Hahn had to duck under a slower car and was able to use the slower machine as a pick to hold off the Mud Slingers Coffee No. 23.

On having to hold off the No. 23, Hahn said, "I saw on the scoreboard at the Aussie [Scott Bogucki] was in second, then after the restart that Seth had gotten by him and I knew he to be rolling good, but I knew if I could stay on the cushion, especially on the restarts, I could get good momentum, but he did scare on one. I thought he had me slid, but we were able to get by him and at the finish, I just had to go where the lapped car wasn't and hoped he didn't change his line."

Taking off with the lead from the pole, Hahn slid in front of Austin McCarl as the pair raced into the first two turns. Getting several car lengths over the No. 99x, that advantage disappeared as lapped traffic came into play on Lap 5. Blocked for a couple of laps, the race for second between McCarl and the Sawblade.com No. 28 of Scott Bogucki morphed into a race for the lead with the trio in a high-speed game of Chess.

Making a small mistake on Lap 12, Hahn was wheel to wheel with Austin McCarl off the second turn. Able to keep the No. 99x at bay, McCarl was slid by Bogucki for the runner-up spot. Racing into a group of slower cars, the top three again went at each other's throats before the caution flew working Lap 14 for Dustin Selvage.

Back to the last fully completed lap, McCarl moved back to second and immediately threw a slide job for the lead. Unable to head off the No. 52, the momentum sent McCarl over the cushion and allowed Bogucki to advance once again, with Seth Bergman also taking advantage for third.

Shot sliding each other as Hahn built his lead, Bergman and Bogucki traded blows before the caution lights came on again for Harli White on Lap 16.

Diving the hub on the restart, Bergman went after the lead, but to no avail, as the caution slowed action again with 17 laps complete. Sliding for the lead again, the results were the same with Hahn railing the cushion to hold the top spot. Keeping pace with the No. 52 in clean air, Bergman closed but his run was hauled on Lap 22 with the race's final caution for Alex Hill.

Putting a half dozen car lengths on Bergman on the restart, Hahn was not out of the woods as the No. 52 found traffic with two laps to go. Bringing Seth right back into the fight, it was down to a car length on the final lap.

Sprinting into the final two turns, Hahn dove low on the lapped car who slid just high enough to keep the No. 23 from making the final lap pass.

Ending up third was the No. 28 of Scott Bogucki for his ninth top five of the season. Running up from 10th, Robbie Price landed in fourth with Sam Hafertepe, Jr. making up 12 spots after transferring out of the first BMRS B-Feature to complete the top five.

Making an equally impressive run, Terry McCarl came from 16th to sixth with Matt Covington seventh. Austin McCarl slipped to eighth with Kaley Gharst ninth. Making to the most of a night plagued with mechanical issues, John Carney II was forced to use a provisional in the MVT No. J2 and clawed from 23rd to 10th.

Combined with the Sprint Invaders and ASCS Warrior Region, a stout field of 37 drivers was on hand Friday night. Five SCE Gaskets Heat Races went to Alex Hill, Scott Bogucki, Cody Wehrle, Blake Hahn, and Robbie Price. BMRS B-Features were topped by Sam Hafertepe, Jr. and Bryden Gaylord. The only provisional was used by John Carney II.

The next event for the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network is the Champion Brands Lake Ozark Speedway 360 Nationals on Saturday, August 31 and Sunday, September 1.

Saturday, August 31 and Sunday, September 1 at Lake Ozark Speedway opens at 5:00 P.M. with racing getting underway at 7:30 P.M. (CT). Saturday's gate is $20 for adults, $17 for Senior and Military, $5 for youth 7-13, and free for kids six and under. Admission Sunday is $23 for adults, $20 for Senior and Military, $5 for youth 7-13, and free for kids six and under Pit Passes each day are $40. ASCS National Sprint Series

Bryan Hulbert - OSKALOOSA, Iowa. (August 6, 2019) Notching his 54th career victory with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network, Oklahoma's Wayne Johnson topped Tuesday's Sage Fruit Ultimate Challenge at the Southern Iowa Speedway.
"First of all, I know a lot of you have heard about my little buddy, Grady Chandler. This race is for him. That Polish Victory Lap was for him...Get well buddy, we're praying for you," stated Johnson in Victory Lane.

Taking his place in seventh for the 25-lap SawBlade.com A-Feature, Johnson advanced to fifth on the grid after the initial start was nullified when Jon Agan and Shawn Murray flipped wildly down the back straightaway. Both drivers were unharmed. Rolling to the runner-up spot as the field completed the fourth circuit, Johnson trailed California's, Willie Croft.

Moving out on the field in the early laps, the driver of the Outlaw Wings No. 2c started moving his line around. Picking up steam on the Holley Smokes BBQ No. 29, Johnson pulled a nearly half straightaway disadvantage to a handful of car lengths as the pair reached Lap 10.

Working the top shelf of the Southern Iowa Speedway as Croft rolled the hub, the pair went head to head for the lead on Lap 12. Diving under the No. 29 through turns one and two, Croft answered the pass down the back straightaway; turning under Wayne retake the point.

Coming after Croft again a lap later, Johnson adjusted his line and raced back into the lead off the fourth turn. Caution working Lap 16, that quickly turned to red as Matt Covington caught fire, the field went under an open red.

On the race for the lead, Johnson stated, "We had a really good car and just needed to take my time. I just about crashed the thing coming off turn two trying to hard and I hit those damn tires they have there. After that, I just told myself to calm down a little bit...I don't know what he [Croft] did there off of two. Looked like he just got really loose and I had a big run. That was my time. I don't know how far I cleared him, but my hats off to Slippy, John, Kenny, and the Chick Magnet. They had this thing on a rail."

With adjustments made, the field refired with Wayne glued to the bottom of the track at the wave of the green. Leaving Croft to deal with the charging No. 15h of Sam Hafertepe, Jr. the Hills Racing entry grabbed second on Lap 18. The only driver at the front of the field to vacate the preferred low groove in turns three and four, Hafertepe was making up ground quickly on Johnson. Pulling to within six car lengths of the No, 2c at one point, that was as close as Sam would get as the checkered flag greeted the wily veteran 0.863 seconds before Hafertepe.

Willie Croft held on for third with Tucker Doughty posting his first career top-five finish with the series with a fourth-place run. Moving up from 12th, Scott Bogucki completed the night's top five for the eighth time this season. Blake Hahn crossed sixth with Dusty Zomer in tow after starting 11th. Winning the night BMRS B-Feature, Mason Daniel moved through the field from 17th to finish eighth. John Carney II was ninth with Jack Dover in tenth.

A field of 34 drivers converged on the Sage Fruit Ultimate Challenge with SCE Gaskets Heat Race wins going to Tucker Doughty, Shawn Murray, Willie Croft, and Blake Hahn. The BMRS B-Feature went to Mason Daniel. Two drivers, Robbie Price and Jordon Mallett, utilized Provisionals.

Bryan Hulbert - KNOXVILLE, Iowa (August 3, 2019) Becoming the 16th different winner of the My Place Hotels ASCS 360 Knoxville Nationals presented by Great Southern Bank, and first from Australia, James McFadden added $15,000 to his pocket on Saturday night in the Wicked Energy Gum No. 9m.

McFadden's second SawBlade.com A-Feature triumph with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network, the 2019 My Place Hotels ASCS 360 Knoxville Nationals presented by Great Southern Bank winner is also the event's Rookie of the year. Picking up a $500 bonus courtesy of JetCo and Pace Performance, McFadden joins 1998 winner Gary Wright, and 2002 winner Jeff Swindell, as the third event Rookie to win the ASCS 360 Knoxville Nationals.

"I'm over the moon!" said McFadden in Victory Lane beside the Kasey Kahne Racing No. 9m.

"I have to thank Mike Heffner for loaning us the motor for the weekend. Obviously, this thing ripped. That was a hard race. It felt like 40 laps, not 25! I'm just pumped! I was watching the big screen. I knew [Brown] was going to run the top. The bottom was fast; I just kept missing it a little bit, and that was enough for him to get next to us. I decided to pound the top and it worked out."

Taking off with the lead from the start, McFadden was pursued by Brian Brown every step of the way. Taking the lead on Lap 3, the Casey's General Store/FVP No. 21 dropped back to second as the pair rounded the first and second turn. Railing the cushion of the Knoxville Raceway, the pair went head to head again on Lap 7 with Brown leading the way, but the move was not enough as McFadden swapped up his line to the cushion to retake the point.
Building his advantage as the pair worked into slower traffic on Lap 13, Brown began to close.

Closing rapidly as the final five laps came into view, the pair began swapping up lines through traffic with Brown taking a massive head of steam to the white flag. Bumper to bumper racing into the first two turns, Brown tried to peel low, but couldn't make move. Putting five car lengths on the No. 21 as they hit the backstretch for the final time, McFadden hugged the berm with Brown giving it everything he had on the cushion, but it wasn't enough as McFadden crossed 0.296 seconds ahead of Brown.

"I'm just so proud of my team," said Brown, whose team had to leave the track and replace their engine after not getting hot laps in. "Races are won, and teams are made over adversity. We went 25 laps as hard as we could go and got beat. Hat's off to James. He moved when he saw me there, and he did a good job."

Peddling from seventh, Wayne Johnson crossed third with Aaron Reutzel coming from sixth to fourth. Joey Saldana completed the top five. Making up five positions, Davey Heskin crossed sixth, followed by Cory Eliason from 13th. Thomas Kennedy in eighth had Dusty Zomer in pursuit. From 19th, Matt Juhl completes the top ten.

A field of 97 drivers made up the 29th annual My Place Hotels ASCS 360 Knoxville Nationals presented by Great Southern Bank. Starting with the E-Feature, Robbie Price grabbed the win with Spencer Bayston winning the D-Feature. Jack Dover won the C-Feature with the BMRS B-Feature going to Giovanni Scelzi. The biggest mover through the alphabet was Robbie Price who raced from the E-Feature to 17th in the C-Feature.

The next event for the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network is Tuesday, August 6 at Southern Iowa Speedway with the Sage Fruit Ultimate Challenge. The night includes the POWRi Lucas Oil Wingless Auto Racing League. Tickets are on sale by calling (515) 957-0020. There will not be an internet broadcast.

Bryan Hulbert - KNOXVILLE, Iowa (August 2, 2019) Becoming the 150th different winner with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network, Warrnambool's James McFadden utilized a restart on Lap 16 to rocket past Davey Heskin and Brian Brown for Friday's Iowa Corn Growers Qualifying Night victory in the 29th My Place Hotels ASCS 360 Knoxville Nationals presented by Great Southern Bank.

"We stuck to the bottom there and tried to roll it as good as we could," stated McFadden in Victory Lane. "(Heskin) kind of missed the bottom there, and it was enough to get by him. We've struggled here at Knoxville the last couple of weeks, so it's good to get a win. It's a big confidence booster going into tomorrow night."

The fifth Australian born driver to top action with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network, McFadden will take the green from the pole of Saturday's $15,000 to win A-Feature.

Gridding the field seventh, McFadden move into the top five on Lap 3, where the Wicked Energy Gum No. 9m rode until Lap 9 as Davey Heskin led the way. Taking the led from the right of the front row over Harli White, the No. 17w trailed the Minnesota racer until Lap 8 as Brian Brown worked into the runner-up spot with Giovanni Scelzi in pursuit.

Into traffic on the tenth circuit, Heskin held a nearly two-second advantage over the No. 21 of Brown.

Closing bit by bit as traffic began to thicken, Brown found the back bumper Heskin on Lap 15. With a run off the fourth turn to complete Lap 16, four-hundredths of a second separated the pair with Brown taking the top spot into the first turn, but the caution would strip the lead from the Casey's General Store/FVP No. 21 as Giovanni Scelzi made contact with James McFadden battling fourth down the back straightaway. Hard into the wall in turn three, Scelzi was unharmed.

To the green for the final four laps, the dive to the race lead came in the first turn as McFadden rushed from third to first and quickly opened his advantage with the checkered flag dropping with James beating Brian Brown by 2.272 seconds. Making a late-race charge from the sixth position, Joey Saldana came across the line third, but not without having to hold off the No. 17a of Austin McCarl who clawed his way through the field from 14th for fourth. Davey Heskin slipped to fifth in the closing laps.

Paul McMahan in the Tony Stewart Racing No. 14 crossed sixth with Clint Garner making up 11 positions to finish seventh. The night's Hard Charger was Matt Juhl, who from 22nd after transferring out of the BMRS B-Feature, picked up 14 positions to finish eighth. Colby Copeland crossed ninth with Terry McCarl in tenth.

A field of 55 drivers on hand for the Iowa Corn Growers Qualifying Night, the 29th My Place Hotels ASCS 360 Knoxville Nationals presented by Great Southern Bank roster includes 97 drivers. Five SCE Gaskets Heat Races were won by Joey Saldana, Josh Baughman, Clint Garner, Kyle Bellm, and Roger Crockett. Hoosier Tire C-Feature was won by Randy Hannagan with BMRS B-Feature victory going to Scott Bogucki.

ASCS National Sprint Series

Bryan Hulbert - BILLINGS, Mont. (July 20, 2019) Battling down the final feet of Saturday's Battle At Big Sky Speedway with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network, Blake Hahn held off the hard-charging No. 15h of Sam Hafertepe, Jr. for his second SawBlade.com A-Feature victory of the 2019 season.

"We really needed this. Since Dirt Cup, we've really been struggling. I just can't say enough about this team for sticking with me. Our sponsors, just everyone who keeps us going; thank you," stated Hahn who held off Sam Hafertepe, Jr, by 0.090 seconds for his sixth career victory with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network.

Taking the lead from Roger Crockett in traffic on the sixth lap, the No. 11 held the runner-up spot until Lap 13 with Hafertepe, from ninth, closing quickly on Hahn to battle for the lead. All over the No. 52 with the pair locked in high-speed chess through lapped traffic, Hahn made several close moves to get distance on Hafertepe but could not shake the Hills Racing No. 15h.

Several times looking at the top spot, Hahn kept point as the race stopped on Lap 18 for a crash that saw Kory Wermling flipping violently down the front straightaway. Collecting fourth running John Carney II in the chaos, both drivers were unharmed but done for the night.

To the green following the closed red, clean air was to Hahn's benefit with the No. 52 putting substantial distance on the field. Back into slower traffic in less than five laps, Hahn would be forced to vacate the cushion, allowing Hafertepe to start cutting away at his advantage. Cleared of slower traffic with two laps to run, the top two ran nose to tail with Hafertepe going for the lead as the pair raced to the white flag. On the slower car of Robbie Price on the closing lap, Hahn rolled the bottom of the final two turns to protect the slide, but that move allowed Hafertepe to rip the lip of the Big Sky Speedway.

Sliding off the bottom at the apex of the fourth turn, the pair swapped lines to the front straightaway with inches to spare, but the move was just enough to scrub off enough of Hafertepe's momentum at the drop of the checkered flag.

On the race to the checkered flag, Blake stated, "When you have Sam [Hafertepe] coming after you for the lead, you can't make a mistake. You have to be defensive, and traffic made it tough to do that. I saw Sam's nose and I just drove it in hard and really, I didn't know if I needed to go to the top in three and four or not. I decided to protect the bottom and really, that was probably the wrong choice, but luckily we were able to drag him down the front straightaway."

Sam Hafertepe, Jr. in second leads the tour standings by 91 markers coming out of the Battle at Big Sky Speedway. His 88th career podium finish, the No. 15h was trailed to the line by Roger Crockett, who struggled to clear the lapped cars that were woven through the restart on Lap 18. Battling the final five laps with Matt Covington, Jordon Mallett and Harli White, the No, 95 of Covington crossed fourth with Jordon Mallett fifth.

Rolling through the field from 15th, Harli White was the night's Hard Charger in sixth. Canada's Kelly Miller was seventh with Scott Bogucki making a huge rebound after suffering a flat tire that sent the No. 28 to the work area while the field re-fired on Lap 18. Ned Powers made up five spots to finish ninth with Robbie Price completing the top ten as the final car on the lead lap.

A field of 28 drivers returned for the second night of the Battle at the Big Sky Speedway. SCE Gaskets Heat Races were won by Scott Bogucki, John Carney II, Roger Crockett, and Kelly Miller. The night's BMRS B-Feature was won by Damon McCune. No provisional starts were used.

Next up for the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network is the 29th annual My Place Hotels ASCS 360 Knoxville Nationals presented by Great Southern Bank, happening August 1-3 at the famed Knoxville Raceway. ASCS National Sprint Series

Bryan Hulbert - BELGRADE, Mont. (July 12, 2019) Several times denied by as much as a single lap at the NAPA of Montana Grizzly Nationals, Sam Hafertepe, Jr. made sure there was no question who was going to win at Gallatin Speedway as the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network point's leader won by a staggering 7.722 seconds on Friday night.
Hafertepe's sixth win on the season, the victory is his first at the Gallatin Speedway, making Sam the fourth different winner at the Belgrade oval. The triumph is also Sam's first with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network in the state of Montana.

Getting his time in SawBlade.com Victory Lane with Adam the Grizzly Bear, Sam was all smiles as the 900lbs Bear made his way to the right rear of his No. 15h, "This is the one race all year that Pam [Hill] wanted us to win so this win is for her, but we had an awesome car. Really, the best car we've had all year," stated Hafertepe.

Battling early with Kelly Miller for the lead, the two traded lines but not positions on the opening laps, which was barely completed when the red lights came on for Scott Bogucki who flipped wildly over the wall in the fourth turn after contact with Harli White while racing for fifth. Bogucki was unharmed, but not able to continue.

Adjusting his line to the cushion on the restart, Hafertepe pulled the field as Miller held off the advance of Matt Covington for the silver position. Finding traffic by Lap 7, Hafertepe methodically picked his way around the backmarkers, while continuing to put distance between himself and the Prevost Racing No. 2jr.

Racing to second on Lap 10 with the help of slower traffic, Matt Covington made little advance on the Hills Racing No. 15h. Still, under pressure from Kelly Miller for second, Covington starting getting some breathing room as the race came to the white flag.

Streaking under the checkered flag, Hafertepe lapped just shy of the top-ten as the race for second turned to Kelly Miller as Matt Covington's right rear exploded off the final turn. Able to limp the T&L Foundry No. 95 across third, fourth went to John Carney II who was challenged several times by Harli White, who settled for fifth.

The night's Hard Charger in a Jimmy Jones tuned machine, Montana's Jeremy McCune picked up eight spots to sixth with Blake Hahn seventh after starting 10th. Trever Kirkland, Roger Crockett, and Tony Bruce, Jr. completed the top ten.

A field of 31 drivers assembled for Night 1 of the NAPA of Montana Grizzly Nationals. Breaking down into four SCE Gaskets Heat Races, with wins going to Harli White, Trever Kirkland, Sam Hafertepe, Jr., and Matt Covington. The night's BMRS B-Feature was topped by Jake Helsel. A Frontier Regional Provisional was used by Damon McCune.

The NAPA of Montana Grizzly Nationals continues Saturday, July 13 at Gallatin Speedway with racing at 7:00 P.M. (MT). Grandstands are $20 for adults with kids 12 and under free. (June 29, 2019) A preliminary night winner in 2017, Oklahoma's Matt Covington added the Fred Brownfield Classic championship night to his list of accomplishments on Saturday night with his first Sawblade.com A-Feature victory of the year with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network.
Covington's ninth career victory with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network, the win as a much-needed one for the team who saw Dirt Cup ripped from their hands one week ago.

"We needed this. Man, we needed this win. I thought we had Dirt Cup in the bag and had a Rod Bolt let go. Nothing on our engine builder, I tried to take old parts and make them last too long. Mark at Shark Racing Engines definitely stepped our program up," stated Covington, who is the season's 10th different winner.

Winning the race for the lead into the first two turns, Covington set a quick pace around the Grays Harbor Raceway with Colton Heath in tow. Caution working Lap 7 for Jay Cole who rolled to a stop entering the first turn, Heath tried for the lead on the restart but was denied as Reece Goetz and Jason Solwold set their sights on the Triple X Race Co. No. 33. Grabbing the runner-up spot on Lap 8, the run for Goetz was short lived as Solwold slid both drivers to move from fourth to second off the fourth turn on Lap 9.
Allowing Covington to open a sizable advantage, the Scottie Plumbing No. 18 began searching around the track. Finding a line just off the cushion of the Grays Harbor Raceway, Solwold began picking away at Covington's lead. Moving the gap to 0.855 seconds in clean air, traffic loomed for the leaders, but the caution would come out instead as Chris Bullock looped his No. 17c in the second turn; directly in the path of the leaders. Everyone was able to avoid.

Diving low in the Lap 12 restart, Solwold pulled even for the race lead as the pair hit the back straightaway. Diving to the bottom the close the door on Solwold's run, Covington forced the No. 18 out of the throttle. Letting the car drift off the bottom through the fourth turn, the T&L Foundry No. 95 was again pressured. Rushing the bottom again into the first turn, this time Covington stuck the hub to protect the race lead.

On the challenge for the lead, Matt explained, "He showed by a nose and I had to chop him hard. It was for the win, and I knew I wasn't going to get another chance if he got the run. It was fun and I'm glad we came out on top. We've got a couple wins this year, but the National Tour has tough to get. I've run second a lot, and flat gave a few away and I was determined not to let that happen here."

Working back into slower traffic in the closing laps, Covington's pace was nearly unchanged as he crossed under the checkered flag 3.849 seconds ahead of Jason Solwold. Running out of laps to contend for the runner-up spot, Scott Bogucki picked up his fourth podium finish of the season in the Sawblade.com No. 28. The night's Hard Charger from 14th to fourth, Sam Hafertepe, Jr. reclaimed the point's lead by 44 markers with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network. Washington's Austen Wheatley ended up fifth after racing as high as third during the race's mid-point.

Colton Heath slipped to sixth with Reece Goetz to seventh after racing for second early on. Robbie Price picked up eight positions to eighth with Roger Crockett rebounding from a Friday DNF to a ninth-place finish. New Zealand's Brayton Davison completed the top ten.

A total of 35 drivers took part in the Fred Brownfield Classic weekend with 31 making the call on Saturday night. A four pack of SCE Gaskets Heat Races went to Austen Wheatley, Seth Bergman, Colton Heath, and Matt Covington. The BMRS B-Feature was won by Cam Smith. One Provisional was used by Blake Hahn.
With the Independence Day Weekend off, the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network goes green again at the NAPA of Montana Grizzly Nationals at Gallatin Speedway in Belgrade, Mont. on Friday, July 12 and Saturday, July 13. The race where it takes more guts to stand in Victory Lane than it did to win, the winners will stand with a nine-foot-tall Grizzly Bear named Adam.
