RISLONE URC SPRINT SERIES

ED AIKIN TOPS URC FIELD SATURDAY NIGHT ON MACH 1 CHASSIS NIGHT AT WINCHESTER SPEEDWAY

URC last competed at the Winchester Speedway in Winchester, VA back in 1985 but on Saturday night, a huge crowd will remember the thrilling 25 lap Rislone URC Sprint Series feature won by Ed Aikin.

The event sponsored by MACH 1 Chassis saw Aikin of Lincoln University, PA lead the entire twenty-five feature event, but runner-up Kevin Darling ran side-by-side with Aikin for countless laps. Even with a caution flag just one lap from the checker flag, Darling used the far, far outside groove as Aikin took the low lane. When the checker flag it, the win went to Aikin, his first of the season and seventh career URC win. This was the fifth race of the season for URC and Aikin became the sixth different winner. Sponsors on the Ed Aikin sprinter include Viper Venom, BRB Site Contractors, Chips Auto Center, CnB Mushrooms and Tan Racing Collectibles on line. Winchester Speedway Management was thrilled with the show and they are already looking for a possible second date with URC before the end of the 2012 racing season.

A field of twenty-four URC sprints took part in the program with heat race victories go to Chad Trout, Ed Aikin and Kevin Darling.

In the twenty-five lap feature, Aikin led the first lap before a caution flag was displayed for Andy Best who spun in turn four. On the restart, Steve Downs and Davie Franek tangled with Franek taking a slow roll. Both drivers walked away uninjured.

When racing resumed, Aikin remained in control of the lead but Darling was on a mission. With the passing of each lap, Darling slowly reeled in Aikin.

At the halfway point, Aikin remained the leader with Darling close in the chase followed by Kramer Williamson, Chad Trout and Joey Biasi.

On lap eighteen, Darling again staged a challenge for the lead, rim-riding the outside lane around the track. On of nowhere, Josh Weller appeared in fourth on lap eighteen. One lap later, Weller and West tangled with Weller tapping the homestretch wall and rolling to a stop just shy of turn one. The damage was too extensive and Weller was forced to retire to the pits.

When green flag racing resumed, Aikin again had to deal with a determined Kevin Darling who was using the top lane. Again the two front runners brought the crowd to their feet in the duel of the season.

Chris Weiss brought out the caution on the twenty-fourth lap after spinning in the fourth turn. . The one lap run to the wire was a thriller with Aikin again on the bottom and Darling up high. With the checker flag waiving, Aikin was the winner over Darling, Joey Biasi, Kramer Williamson and Robbie Stillwaggon.

FEATURE FINISH: Ed Aikin, Kevin Darling, Joey Biasi, Kramer Williamson, Randy West, Robbie Stillwaggon, Art Liedl, Tim Kelly, Chad Trout, Scott Lutz, Tim Hogue, Jonathan Swanson, Troy Betts, Jared Fink, Dan Mazy, Steve Downs, Andy Best, George Streaker, David Swanson, Chris Weiss, Josh Weller, Jimmy Stitzel, Davey Franek, Kameron Darling.

Bobby Breen of Savannah, NY was in the hunt to win the 25 lap Spring Sprint Challenge Friday night the Black Rock Speedway and it pretty much went his way on lap eighteen when race leader George Suprick flipped in turn three. Once Breen took the top spot, he ran unchallenged for the final eight laps to score an impressive first win under the Rislone URC Sprint Series banner. A field of forty cars took part in the racing program with URC providing fifteen competitors, actually three more cars then the URC group attracted for this same event 2011.

Heat race wins went to Steve Collins, Kevin Ward, URC’s 2011 Rookie of the Year Troy Betts and Bobby Breen. The Pizza Logs Dash Winner was Don Adamczyk as the Bar’s Leaks dual “B” Mains were won by Josh Weller and Ed Aikin.

The Black Rock event Friday night officially kicked off the 65th season for the Rislone URC Sprint Series. A well prepared race track set the stage for what was going to be an exciting event. At the drop of the green flag, George Suprick immediately set the pace and established himself as race leader, taking the top spot away from pole sitter Troy Betts. Steve Collins ran a determined second place until Bobby Breen moved into second on lap eight.

Just one circuit later, Breen was challenging Suprick for the lead. With the leaders now deep behind slower traffic, the race for the lead was developing into a real battler.

The first caution of the feature event was displayed on lap eleven for Troy Betts who spun. On the restart, Suprick was especially fast and now had a clear track ahead. Both Suprick and Breen were in a battle and as the leaders crossed the line for the halfway sign, Jared Zimbardi, Bryan Howland and Steve Collins followed in the top five.

Deep in the pack, URC favorite Josh Weller was on a charge after starting twenty-fourth. At the halfway mark, Weller was racing in the top fifteen. The leaders once again had to deal with slower traffic and the turning point of the race was fast approaching. On lap eighteen, Suprick entered turn three and after contact with another car, the Suprick sprinter flipped. The red flag was displayed and Suprick walked away uninjured. Breen now inherited the lead.

When green flag racing resumed, Breen set the pace with Zimbardi now chasing down the leader with Bryan Howland, Scott Kreutter and Justin Barger also in chase of the leaders. With just five laps remaining, Zimbardi was trying to pull off a challenge to Breen, but it was not going to happen in the final laps.

For the final five laps, Zimbardi ran high and low looking for the fast lane to Challenge Breen for the top spot. With the checker flag waiving, the win went to Bobby Breen over Jared Zimbardi, Bryan Howland, Scott Kreutter and Justin Barger. The top ten included Don Adamczyk, Ryan Bohlke, Charlie Donk, Steve Collins and twenty-fourth place starter, Josh Weller powered into the top ten.

RISLONE URC SPRINT SERIES OPENER SET FOR SATURDAY NIGHT AT DELAWARE INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY

Saturday night at the Delaware International Speedway, the Rislone URC Sprint Series will open their sixty-fifth season of competition, and opening night always brings a high level of excitement.

The event, sponsored by Taylor & Messick will present a series of heat races, a “B” Main and a 25 lap feature event paying $2,000 to the winner. Gates will open at 5 PM with race time set for 7 PM. The URC Drivers & Owners Meeting will take place at 5:30 PM and attendance is required. The meeting will cover the nightly race procedures, teching, payoff and handicapping as well as a review of the 2012 Rislone URC Sprint Series schedule. Drivers will draw for their heat race starting position at this time.

Paul Messick of Viper Venom Fuels is pleased to be back with URC in 2012 and he will offer a free drum of Viper Fuel to the feature winner if they are using the product. The program will be in place throughout the year but is limited to one free drum of fuel per team. Viper Fuel offers 99.99% pure methanol for $135 per fifty-five gallon drum and is available by contacting Paul Messick at 302-757-6918 or by e-mail at sales@vipervenomfuels.com. The feature winner will receive their free drum of Viper Fuel when arranging their next purchase of fuel.

In 2012, URC race teams will have at least two locations to purchase their URC American Racer tires. BFP Specialty & Snookies Speed Parts will both distribute URC sprint car tires this season.

BFP, located in Bethel, PA will be a distributor and they do plan to be on hand at more then a dozen events. Along with selling the official URC American Racer Tire, the BFP Specialty Truck will also offer tear offs, racers tape and brake clean as well as other items race teams may need throughout the year. Tires may also be purchased at BFP during the week and tires will ship from the BFP location as well. BFP is open Monday through Thursday 7 AM to 7 PM, Friday 7 AM to 2 PM and Saturday 8 AM to 2 PM. Contact Jason or Todd Bashore at BFP by calling 717 933 4999.

Snookies Speed Parts located in Milton, DE will also distributed the URC American Racer Tires and will have tires at the track when URC is racing in Delaware. Snookies Speed Parts in a family owned and operated business that has been servicing the local racing community for over 35 years. Snookies operating hours are Monday through Thursday 8 AM to 5:30 PM, Friday 8 AM to 5 PM and Saturday 8 AM to 1 PM. Tires may also be purchased at Snookies by calling 302-684-8466.

The tire deal for 2012 is still another incentive offered to URC competitors. Thanks to American Racer and support from Rislone, URC competitors will be paying an all-time lowest cost for their tires. An American Racer right rear will sell for $159, the left rear for $155 and fronts may be purchased for $138, unheard of pricing for sprint car tires today. .

The excitement for the coming season is plentiful as URC offers their always strong weekly payoff of $2,000 to win and $200 to take the green flag in the feature event. There are eight special events on the schedule that will carry an increased payoff.

Race fans should find some added excitement with URC using a double file restart format in 2012. This change has mixed feelings among the URC teams. Respected URC Car Owner Rick Weller said it best, “There will be nights when it works in your favor, and nights when it works to your dis-advantage”.

Taylor & Messick will be the race night sponsor at Delaware International on Saturday night, joined by series sponsors Rislone, Bar’s Leaks, Fred’s Trailer Parts, MACH1 Chassis, Pioneer Pole Buildings LLC, Brad Penn Oil, Engler Machine & Tool, American Racer, Viper Venom Fuel, i.g. Burton, Brodix and National Parts Peddler.

A very attractive roster of talent is expected to be in the field on Saturday night to include Josh Weller, Ed Aikin, Kramer Williamson, Robbie Stillwaggon, Randy West, Joey Biasi, Davie Franek, Art Liedl, Jonathan Swanson, Joey Biasi, Chad Trout, Tim Hogue, Troy Betts, Ryan Bohlke and Kevin Nagy just to name a few of the drivers very capable of winning the URC season opener.
