KRAUSE MEMORIAL RACE WINNER WILL EARN $7,127 AT WALL STADIUM SATURDAY (SEPT. 19)

WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. ~ The season's highest paying Modified stock car race offering $7,127 to the winner will be in the spotlight this Saturday night (Sept. 19) at Wall Stadium Speedway as the third mile paved oval track presents the 127-lap “Cliff Krause Memorial.” Krause, the promoter of the speedway who is credited by many for returning the history rich oval to prominence, passed away in January, 2018 from natural causes. The Krause family continues to operate the speedway.

Saturday night's emotional auto racing card will see grandstand seating opening at 4:30 p.m. and support division qualifying is set for 5:30 p.m. Modified single car time trials are set for 6:10 p.m. and main event action will follow around 7:00 p.m.

The Modifieds will battle in a 127-lap main event with drivers not only searching for the rich payday, but also for the honor of winning this third annual “Cliff Krause Memorial” race. Last season, Eric Mauriello of Brick won the prestigious event. Cliff Krause's son Andrew Krause was the emotional winner of the first annual event in 2018.

Current point leader Blake Barney of Jackson, who won the Garden State Classic earlier this season, plans to be in the field as well as top point earners Ron Frees of Lanoka Harbor, Krause, Kevin Davison of Howell and Eddie McCarthy of Brick. Jimmy Blewett of Howell, Anthony Sesely of Matawan and Roger Coss of Lafayette have made at least one appearance each this season and could be among the invaders competing Saturday night.

The Factory Stocks, 4 Cylinder Stocks and Legend Cars will also be on the card, all racing in 25-lap main events.

Saturday’s schedule will see the competitor pit area open at 1:00 p.m. Regular practice will start at 3:00 p.m., while spectator seating will open at 4:30 p.m. Support division qualifying is set for 5:30 p.m. and single car Modified time trials are set for 6:10 p.m. with main events to follow.

The Saturday night schedule, which continues through October 10, is available at www.wallspeedwayracing.com.

Wall Stadium Speedway is located on Route 34 in Wall Township, N.J., just one mile north of Garden State Parkway exit 98 and Interstate 195 exit 35B. The speedway hotline number is 732-681-6400 and email address is CKMotorsports@aol.com.

Buffalino Wheels Small Block To Third NES Victory; Bouc 2020 Modified Champ

NEW EGYPT, NJ - Dominick Buffalino took the lead from Dakota Kessler on a lap 20 restart and went on to pick up his third New Egypt Speedway Vahlco Wheels Modified win of 2020 on Saturday night.

“This is getting to be a thing, I like it,” exclaimed Buffalino post race. “I want to thank my crew, my girlfriend, everyone that helped me. Thanks to the fans, everyone that’s here.

Frank Venezia led the field to the green and jumped out to the early race lead before relinquishing the lead on lap seven to Dakota Kessler who was fast a week ago until he tangled with a lapped car while running second.

The man on the move early on in the 30 lap affair was Ryan Krachun who started seventh and cracked the podium on the 10th lap.

The first yellow flag of the event flew when Cale Ross spun at the exit of turn two after contact with the No. 76 of Jimmy Blewett on the 15th lap.

On the restart Kessler continued to lead the way and appeared to be on his way to his first career Vahlco Wheels Modified victory.

A new challenger entered the fray on lap 17 when two-time winner Dominick Buffalino made his way past Krachun and into the runner-up position.

The second yellow flag of the event occurred when Danny Carlough crept to a stop in between turns three and four putting Buffalino alongside Kessler on the ensuing restart.

Kessler jumped back out to the lead following the restart despite being hounded by Buffalino, Buffalino utilizing a spec-small block power plant versus the big block in which he had used throughout the season would draw even with Kessler but would not be able to clear him for position over the course of the next two laps.

The final yellow of the event flew when championship contender Mike Butler was found facing the wrong way on a one way street in turns one and two.

When green replaced yellow, Buffalino wound his small block up on the outside and as the field came down to complete lap number 20, Buffalino would be scored as the new race leader.

Over the course of the next 10 laps, Buffalino would check out and run off into the Central Jersey night winning his third Modified event of the year by 2.923 seconds over runner-up Dakota Kessler.

17th place starter Billy Pauch Jr. charged hard late in the game to finish third, while Ryan Krachun and Wade Hendrickson completed the top five.

“I didn’t get to sleep much this past week because we had to change motors, this motor wasn’t done until Wednesday. I gotta thank Frank Boardwick for rushing to get this done. I’m glad it’s in, it’s a hell of a lot easier to drive with a small block in it,” said Buffalino.

By virtue of his 10th place finish Danny Bouc is officially the 2020 New Egypt Speedway Vahlco Wheels Modified champion.

“This has been in the works for a long time,” said Bouc. “I think this is the year I showed the least amount of speed and consistency out of all of them. We’ve lost them just about every way you could have over the years but we’ll take it.

“It doesn’t matter if it's a short season or whatever the circumstances were, we worked really hard for this, this one is for my guys, my mom, my dad, my girlfriend, they all sacrifice so much so that I can do this, we’re non stop working on this car. I’m very relieved.”

Rich Mellor took the race lead from Heidi Hedin on lap four and went on to score his fourth Larry’s Hot Rods & Harley’s Northeast Wingless Sprint Cars Presented By: The Meat Shoppe win over Brian Spencer, Mick D’Agastino, Heidi Hedin and Mark Bitner.

Howie Finch passed Walt McIntyre coming to the two to go signal to pick up his first Ice Less LLC Crate Modified main event of the 2020 season. McIntyre ran a career best to finish second, Dan Fleming, Sammy Martz Jr. and Justin Grosso rounded out the top five.

Justin Dunn scored the 4-Cylinder victory over his father Scott Dunn, Mike Fox, Joe Garey Sr., and Tim Jones.

Nick Stephan was the victor in the Lyons Construction/Metal Fab Rookie Sportsman.

Northeast

During the first heat race of the night NEWS Sprint Car driver Jeremy Quick was involved in an incident which saw his No. 3 flip several times in turns one and two. Quick was extricated from his car and flown via helicopter to a local hospital. Quick posted on social media early Sunday morning that he was ok, just extremely sore.

New Egypt Speedway is back in action next Saturday night, September 19th with Championship Night. That’s right, 2020 Track Championships in the Larry’s Hot Rods & Harley’s Northeast Wingless Sprint Cars Presented By: The Meat Shoppe, Sportsman, Ice Less LLC Crate Modifieds, Street Stocks, 4-Cylinders and the Lyons Construction/Metal Fab Rookie Sportsman will all be decided.

Pit Gates will open at 3pm, Grandstands at 4pm, with hot laps hitting the speedway at 5pm and the first green flag flying at 6pm. Adult (16+) admission will be $20, Seniors (65+) will be $18, Teens (12-15) & Military w/ID are $10 with Kids 11 & Under being FREE!

Then on Saturday night October 3rd will be the All Star Cup 100 for the Vahlco Wheels Modifieds paying $10,000 to win, $1,000 for 10th and $500 just to make the 100 lap feature. The Ice Less LLC Crate Modifieds will do battle in a 30 lap main event paying $1,000 to win event with the 4-Cylinders completing the racing card. Gates will open at 3pm on the 3rd with hot laps hitting the Speedway at 5pm and racing beginning at 6pm.

“Money Mat” Williamson Picks up $10,000 in Slate Valley 100 at Devil’s Bowl
Drellos wins KOD Crate Nationals

WEST HAVEN, Vt. – Canadian sensation Mat Williamson has made a habit of winning the biggest and richest dirt Modified races in the country, and he put another notch in his belt at Devil’s Bowl Speedway on Saturday, September 12. “Money Mat” lived up to his nickname with a late-race charge to nail down the inaugural “Slate Valley 100” at the Vermont track and the $10,000 payday that went along with it. Other winners on the all-Modified program included Demetrios Drellos, Evan Roberts, and Bobby Hackel.

St. Catherines, Ont., racer Williamson took billing, but the Slate Valley 100 for Big Block and Small Block Modifieds was anything but a cakewalk for him. Matt Sheppard paced the field early before Mike Mahaney took over at lap 10. Mahaney, the newly crowned champion at Albany-Saratoga Speedway, was solidly in command through the next 60 circuits, fighting off repeated challenges from Sheppard, Jimmy Phelps, and the late-arriving Williamson.

An interesting track surface was mostly slick, but better traction on the extreme inside and the extreme outside lanes created multiple racing grooves and a surplus of slide-jobs as drivers searched for bite. Williamson caught Mahaney in lapped traffic at lap 73, and the final four restarts led to lots of tense moments. Williamson officially snatched the lead away at lap 86 and ran off over the final laps to take the victory.

“This is such a fun track to drive, and I wish we were here more often,” Williamson said following the race; he made his Devil’s Bowl debut in August at the “Battle at the Bowl” event, winning the 25-lap Small Block feature that night as well. Mahaney held on as the runner-up. Sheppard’s up-and-down race saw him slip as far back as sixth, but he rallied to finish third.

Charlie Brown of Brown’s Quarried Slate in Castleton, Vt., presented each of the top-three finishers with commemorative Slate Valley 100 trophies, cut into the shape of the State of Vermont from natural stone found just a few miles from Devil’s Bowl Speedway.

Larry Wight put on the most impressive drive of the event, rebounding from a flat tire at lap 22 to run from 30th place to finish fourth. Tim Fuller outlasted a race-long battle with Ronnie Johnson for fifth place. Demetrios Drellos, like Wight, suffered a flat tire early in the race but came back for sixth place. Erick Rudolph was seventh ahead of Johnson, Anthony Perrego, and Tyler Dippel.

Forty cars attempted to qualify for 30 starting positions, and eight caution periods slowed the race. Qualifying heats were won by Phelps, Williamson, Andy Bachetti, and Johnson, and consolation races were won by Tyler Boniface and L.J. Lombardo.

Drellos double-dipped on the action with the King of Dirt Racing (KOD) Crate Modified Series, and he took down a $2,000 victory in the 11th annual “Northeast Crate Nationals” event. The Queensbury, N.Y., driver made it three consecutive wins in Sportsman Modified competition at Devil’s Bowl – all in big races – having won the Charlie LaDuc Memorial 54, the Interstate All Battery Center Vermont 200, and the 50-lap Northeast Crate Nationals.

The KOD event was, by all accounts, a rough race with 14 caution periods, but Adam Pierson and Justin Comes put on a show up front before Drellos arrived. Pierson – who had finished 11th in the Slate Valley 100 moments before – led the first 20 laps. Comes got bounced around in traffic but came to the front using the top lane for the lead at lap 21. Pierson came charging back, though, and regained control at lap 36 after a lengthy side-by-side battle with Comes.

Drellos, meanwhile, had to come from deep in the field, having started 25th after a tough outing in qualifying. He arrived as Comes and Pierson were slugging it out, and he scooted ahead at lap 41 following a restart. Drellos held on through the final three restarts to score the win. Pierson took the runner-up spot, and Tanner Siemons crept into the battle in the final laps to take third place away.

Comes settled for fourth with David Schilling fifth. Tim LaDuc, Elmo Reckner, Josh Masterson, Kenny Tremont Jr., and John St. Germain Jr. completed the top 10 in order. Heat race wins went to Pierson, Schilling, Marty Kelly III, and St. Germain; Drellos won the consi.

Freshman Modified racer Evan Roberts, 14, collected his third win of the season in the 20-lap feature for the O’Reilly Auto Parts Limited Sportsman division. The race was well-driven, and the fourth-generation driver led every lap after starting on the outside of the front row.

Anthony Warren erased some recent bad luck with a second-place finish, followed by Lacey Hanson, Johnny Bruno, and first-time Devil’s Bowl racer Dylan Madsen. Kevin Groff was sixth ahead of Austin Comes, Josh Bussino, Matt Bilodeau, and Scott FitzGerald. Bilodeau, Roberts, and Hanson won the qualifiers.

The event was capped off by the inaugural “Flying Farmer Dash For Cash” presented by Devil’s Bowl staff member Josh Richards and sponsored by Green Mountain Food & Wholesale and Castleton Corners Deli. The 11-lap race was open to the top 10 drivers in the weekly Devil’s Bowl Pepsi Sportsman Modified championship point standings and was run with “Australian Pursuit” rules in which the last-place driver is eliminated on each lap.

Bobby Hackel drew the pole and led every step of the way, but Drellos put on a show again, coming from sixth place to avoid elimination as he knocked Pierson out before the final two-lap, green-white-checkered run to the finish. Hackel and Drellos mixed it up in the showdown, but Hackel pulled ahead on the final lap for the $1,000, winner-take-all score.

Devil’s Bowl Speedway returns to action on Saturday, September 19, with the next-to-last weekly championship event, presented by The Stove Depot. All five weekly divisions will be on the card including the Super Stock, Mini Stock, and Friend Construction 500cc Mini Sprints. Racing begins at 6:00 p.m. and advance sale tickets will soon be available online at the Devil’s Bowl Speedway website.

Devil’s Bowl Speedway is located on Route 22A in West Haven, Vt., four miles north of U.S. Route 4, Exit 2, and just 20 minutes from Rutland, Vt. Lance Dewease collects $53,000 in seventh Tuscarora 50 victory at Port Royal Speedway

PORT ROYAL, Pa. (September 13, 2020) - For the seventh time in his career, National Sprint Car Hall of Famer Lance Dewease is a Tuscarora 50 champion at Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal, Pennsylvania, collecting a $53,000 payday in the process, as well as over $1,000 in lap money, while simultaneously stretching his Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 win count to 41, 12 of which at the Port Royal “Speed Palace.”

“My guys work really hard. This car was easy to drive tonight and that’s the key,” an elated Lance Dewease said in Port Royal Speedway victory lane, driver of the Kreitz Racing, Schannauer Plumbing and Heating, Hess Ornamental Iron, No. 69K sprint car. “I’m just happy for all of the guys and all of our sponsors. It’s a whole-team effort. Everyone works so hard.”

The Fayetteville, Pennsylvania-native, who started from the pole position as the result of a top-six redraw, was in command of the feature field for the first 18 circuits, as well as the final 13, losing the top spot to St. Helena, California’s Rico Abreu on lap 19 before reclaiming the lead on lap 38. Abreu, who started alongside Dewease on the front row, earned the advantage over the Kreitz Racing No. 69K during a battle in traffic, first missing a slide job attempt on lap 14 before officially taking the lead on lap 19.

Unfortunately for Abreu, a problem with the car’s universal joint forced the familiar No. 24 to go pit-side allowing Dewease to inherit command shortly after the competition yellow at half way.

“I think I was being a little too conservative with the lapped cars which allowed Rico (Abreu) to get by me,” Lance Dewease said. “I thought we would get back by him among the lap cars because I felt like I was hitting some pretty good marks. We probably weren’t as good as we were last night, but the track was pretty tricky. You can have the fastest car at the track and still not win if you don’t catch some breaks. We caught the breaks tonight.

“When I started racing, I just wanted to race. Kinda like Kyle (Larson), I just wanted to race. It didn’t matter what it was. To be doing this for four decades means two things: I’m old and I’ve been fortunate enough to be pretty successful for a long time. I’ve had the opportunity to drive for a lot of great people.”

Dillsburg’s Anthony Macri would battle ahead four spots to finish second at the Port Royal “Speed Palace,” followed by Dylan Cisney, a hard-charging Kyle Larson from 22nd, and Thursday night winner, Cory Eliason.

SHELDON’S SHOWDOWN: Haudenschild Spurs World of Outlaws in Dodge City

NOS Energy Drink racer dominates Boot Hill Showdown for fifth victory of 2020

by Jordan DeLucia

DODGE CITY, KS – Sept. 12, 2020 – Sheldon Haudenschild held a 7.5-second advantage over second place as he crossed the line with five laps remaining. With the wave of the caution flag just two corners later, that gap was erased.

Haudenschild was blistering the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series field Saturday night around Dodge City Raceway Park when a right-rear tire let go on Tim Kaeding’s #7, bringing out the caution and putting a hungry Parker Price-Miller and David Gravel right behind him for the restart.

Haudenschild stomped on the throttle out of Turn 4 at the drop of the green and began to pull away from the field once again, displaying that speed on the top side of the track he’d shown all race long. Crossing the finish line with a 1.493-second advantage over Price-Miller, Haudenschild scored his fifth win of the season and earned the $10,000 check on the final night of the Boot Hill Showdown.

“We qualified a little bit better tonight, and I can’t [stress] how much that means,” Haudenschild said in his post-race interview on DIRTVision. “Gotta start on the front row of them Heats and get in them Dashes. Even after you do that, you’ve gotta draw good for that Dash.”

And draw well he did. Haudenschild pulled the #2 out of the NOS Energy Drink redraw can, setting him up for a runner-up finish in the DIRTVision Fast Pass Dash and a front-row starting spot for the 30-lap NOS Energy Drink Feature.

At the drop of the green, Price-Miller jumped out to the early lead and hit the tail of the field inside the first five laps. Maneuvering around the first two lapped cars with ease, Price-Miller then approached the rear of Bill Rose with Haudenschild now right on his bumper.

Entering Turn 1 on the cushion, Price-Miller took a look underneath Rose at the exit of Turn 2 but lost some speed in the process, opening the door for the Haudenschild on the top. Haudenschild threaded the needle in between Price-Miller and Rose down the backstretch and sailed into the lead entering Turn 3.

“You gotta get through lappers with these guys, and can’t hesitate,” Haudenschild said of his move for the lead in traffic. “Parker was really good, but just one little, not even really mess-up, he just lost his speed there and I was able to go around him.”

What followed was a powerful display of speed and swiftness in lapped traffic by the NOS Energy Drink #17, similar to his intensity seen in last year’s Ironman 55. By Lap 14, his advantage was at three seconds. Five laps later, a 4.6-second lead. With 10 laps to go, he was 5.5 seconds ahead.

Haudenschild, of Wooster, OH, built-up that big lead right on the top side of the 3/8-mile oval – the preferred groove for many drivers throughout the race. After all, it’s what helped him grab the lead earlier on.

“It was just so slick around the bottom, wasn’t much you could do,” Haudenschild said. “Kinda had to get to the top and wait for them to make a mistake and get through the lappers. That’s what decided this race.”

Even after the caution flag flew in the closing laps, Haudenschild was still able to open a gap back up before the finish. He stuck it right on the top side and got back to work on the restart, leading the field back around to the checkers for his 12th career World of Outlaws Feature win.

Price-Miller held strong inside the top-three all night and brought the Dietz Motorsports #14 home in second. Albeit, he felt he could have been a little smoother with the slower cars.

“I feel bad for my guys; I feel like I didn’t do a good enough job in lapped traffic,” Price-Miller said. “I just wasn’t aggressive enough, Sheldon’s really good about being aggressive, being up on the wheel. He just kinda sucked my doors off there.”

David Gravel also had a solid night inside the top-three, keeping pace with Price-Miller throughout the Feature while dicing through traffic on the top. He hung with the leaders for the distance, but just wasn’t able to make the passes he needed at the end.

“Sheldon was the class of the field tonight,” Gravel said. “In open track, me and Parker could keep up. But once we got in lapped traffic, we just got too tight and wasn’t able to compete with him.”

Defending Series champion Brad Sweet, Friday night’s runner-up Logan Schuchart and 10-time World of Outlaws champion Donny Schatz all finished four-five-six, tightening the championship points battle even further with the season winding down. Sweet now leads Schuchart by 10 and Schatz by 80. Haudenschild now sits 104 points behind in fourth.

UP NEXT

The World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Cars next head to Lawton Speedway in Lawton, OK, for the first time since 1985 on Friday, Sept. 18 and will then return to Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, TX, for the $20,000-to-win Texas Outlaw Nationals on Saturday, September 19.

If you can’t make it to the track, you can still watch both races live on DIRTVision.

WAIT NO MORE: STOCKON WINS AT LPS FOR FIRST OF 2020

By: Richie Murray - USAC Media

Putnamville, Indiana (September 12, 2020).........Exactly six weeks after basking in the limelight as the Indiana Sprint Week champion,, Chase Stockon finally achieved that long sought after first USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car victory of the season during the first of two features run Saturday night at Lincoln Park Speedway in Putnamville, Ind.

While Stockon's triumph won't officially go in in the books as an official Indiana Sprint Week victory, it did come in an event that resumed Saturday, having been suspended for a month and a half following a heavy storm on the final night of July when it was then part of the ISW series, the night in which nearly all the preliminary events had been completed.

"I know it's a bit delayed, but I'm definitely glad to get another (Indiana) Sprint Week win," Stockon said with a grin.

The win also continued one of the most impressive streaks with the series by a driver who is known for setting records. Stockon, the series' "Ironman" from Fort Branch, Ind., in making his 316th consecutive feature start, ran his annual checkmark in the win column to nine consecutive years, picking up a USAC win each year since the 2012 season, an active streak that is second only by Brady Bacon's 10 straight years dating back to 2011.

Stockon's 13th career USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car win surpassed Eric Gordon and tied both Don Branson and Steve Chassey for 43rd all-time.

Lincoln Park is the place where Stockon began his driver/owner relationship with KO Motorsports in terms of USAC competition back in early July. A pair of top-five runs in the KO Motorsports/Hutson John Deere - Ravens Manufacturing - AMSOIL/Velocity/Fisher Chevy that weekend has led Stockon to elevate his game and put him in contention for a first career series title, while also providing the KO team its first career USAC victory on Saturday at LPS.

Pole sitter Stockon initially shared the front row alongside Darland, the winningest USAC Sprint Car driver at the 5/16-mile dirt oval with six victories. Stockon grabbed the early lead while Darland fought with Carson Short before emerging with the second position in the early going.

Meanwhile, defending series champ and fourth starting C.J. Leary made the topside work to his liking and surged up through the thick to beat Stockon to the line by one car length at the stripe on the 10th lap. Stockon called it a comeback and was able to stick even Steven with Leary at the exit of turns two and four before, ultimately eking out his own one car length advantage at the conclusion of lap 14.

As Leary fought to regain the position, Stockon nipped Leary again at the line under the crossed flags indicating halfway to completion of the 30-lap feature. Nonetheless, Leary was undeterred, digging in to supplant Stockon from the top of the throne once again by a single car length at the line. That proved short lived as Stockon gained a big drive off the bottom of four to re-corral the race lead once and for all on the 17th circuit.

In that instant, it became more than just a two-horse race with Darland, Logan Seavey and Brady Bacon each joining the fray along with Leary, while Stockon suddenly left his home on the bottom to try the top. Darland nearly took advantage of Stockon's switch with 10 laps remaining by securing the bottom line, just missing out on leading the 20th lap by inches.

Darland became pinned behind the car of Colten Cottle on the tail end of the lead lap on the bottom of turn two as he raced side-by-side with Leary for the race lead. Nose-to-tail contact was made between Darland and C. Cottle, sending Cottle sideways and veering off into the infield to maintain control while Darland lost his stride of momentum, allowing Seavey to shoot the gap into second.

A lap later, the event's fastest qualifier, Brent Beauchamp, slowed to a stop on the back straightaway to end the lengthy green flag run and restack the deck in a single file manner without the aid, or hindrance of traffic, in the distance. Stockon continued to tiptoe around the tires of the infield variety when racing resumed with nine laps left. Darland followed Stockon on the limbo line while Bacon jostled into third on lap 24, then to the runner-up spot on lap 25 when Darland left the door open on the bottom of turn two for Bacon to scoot on by.

Bacon made every attempt to try to reel himself into lead contention at the end, but a slight issue with a cut tire placed him into conservation mode instead of attack mode for the final five-lap run to the checkered. Searching high and also stalking the bottom, Bacon couldn't catch Stockon, who was the picture of perfection on the low line to win by a 0.819 second margin over Bacon, Darland, Leary and Seavey.

"I could feel those guys breathing on me there toward the end of the race. I was just trying to hit my marks and make no mistakes," Stockon revealed after leading a race-high 25 laps. "The topside around here was just a little bit too far around for me tonight."

Chase Stockon has now picked up a USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car win in nine consecutive years, an active streak that dates back to 2012 and is second only to Brady Bacon's 10-year winning streak which started in 2011. (David Nearpass Photo)

Bacon's journey from 8th to 2nd earned him B & W Auto Mart / KSE Racing Products Hard Charger honors in the Broken Arrow, Oklahoma native's Dynamics, Inc./Fatheadz Eyewear - DriveWFX.com/Triple X/Rider Chevy."

"We got a cut in our tire there at the end," Bacon explained. "I kind of felt it getting soft, so I had to get a little conservative. It was really good on the bottom of three and four and I hadn't been down there as much as them, so I didn't exactly know what to do. We were better than them in one and two, but (Stockon) got to start in front and keep his nose clean. We might've used our stuff up a little bit to get there."

Darland's best 2020 USAC finish came in a 3rd place performance Saturday night for the driver who earned a pair of Lincoln Park Speedway Sprint Car track championships during the 1990-91 seasons, piloting the EZR-Curb-Agajanian/Marchand's Window Tinting - Fox Paving - Windmill Grill/DRC/Claxton Chevy.

"We had a good race, but those guys just beat me a little bit," Darland said. "I didn't really want to see that yellow; traffic was going to help me. We were decent, but they were too. I knew Chase wouldn't screw up too many times too often. Then brady came through and he had a good racecar too. There on that yellow, I was just hoping I could run real low around one and two on the restart and maybe get Chase out in the slick or something, but it was better to be up in the middle off turn two. He was in the right spot and he knew what he was doing, so there's always a lot going through your mind of just what you're going to do and what's going to happen. It didn't work out for the win, but we had a good run, a good finish and we're happy about that."
