Aaron Reutzel wins Jack Gunn Memorial at Williams Grove Speedway
MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (September 18, 2020) - Two-time and defending Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 champion, Aaron Reutzel, has certainly found his stride in Pennsylvania Posse country, winning at the famed Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, for the third time in the last two seasons, this time scoring the annual Jack Gunn Memorial for a $5,000 payday.
A contender the entire evening at the paperclip-shaped half-mile, Reutzel drove ahead from fourth on the grid and took command for the first time on lap 14, sneaking under KCP Racing’s Gio Scelzi at the exit of turn two and never looking back. The Jack Gunn Memorial title is Reutzel’s second at The Grove, also owning a Tommy Hinnershitz Classic triumph. The victory also propelled the Clute, Texas-native to the double-digit win mark, now owning ten All Star victories in 2020.
“Our car was phenomenal tonight,” Aaron Reutzel said, driver of the Baughman-Reutzel Motorsports/Fischer Body Shop/Precision Catalyst/Hollywood Blasting/Folkens Brothers Trucking/No. 87 sprint car. “I could move around; blast the top, run through the middle, run the bottom. Sometimes it pays off to be in second or third where you can move around like that. My crew chief is from Australia and he really wanted to win a race (at Williams Grove Speedway). It’s pretty special that we were able to make that happen. Just an awesome night all around.”
Getting away third at the initial start, it took Reutzel only eight circuits to find his way around second-place running Brian Brown, utilizing the speedway’s top grove to power by the 2020 Knoxville Raceway track champion. In the meantime, outside-pole sitter and Fresno-native Gio Scelzi was the man in charge, extending his lead to nearly a straightaway by the time Reutzel found his way to the tailtank of Brown.
Lapped traffic entered the picture by lap 11 creating an instant momentum block for Scelzi. With slower cars cutting down on Scelzi’s mobility, Reutzel closed-in in a hurry, putting himself well within striking distance by lap 13. The following circuit, Reutzel made his bid for the lead, entering turn one as low as he could before driving up across the race track and in front of the KCP Racing No. 18.
From that point forward, the bottom is where Reutzel stayed, keeping his focus ahead as Scelzi, Brown and Larson battled behind him. Although a caution on lap 29 would set-up a green-white-checkered restart, Reutzel never faltered, using clean air and a clear track to solidify his place in Williams Grove Speedway victory lane.
Gio Scelzi hung on to finish second, followed by Kyle Larson, Paul McMahan and Brent Marks.
“I just got lucky at the right time that allowed me to get a run on Gio (Scelzi),” Reutzel continued. “He ended up moving down in three and four, but didn’t move down yet in one and two, but I think he thought he was still OK on the top. You never want to pull the trigger too soon and not clear. Luckily, I was able to get down there and make it stick and get by him. From that point on, I was able to stay on the bottom and just hit my marks.”
“I should have known to get down there a little sooner,” Gio Scelzi said, driver of the KCP Racing/Logan Contractors/Aspen Aire, Inc./No. 18 sprint car. “(Aaron Reutzel) deserves to win; he drove the smarter race.”

The Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 will conclude their final trek through the Keystone State with a visit to the “Fabulous” Lincoln Speedway on Saturday, September 19. The annual Dirt Classic will headline action in the Pigeon Hills awarding a $20,000 top prize. Gates are scheduled to open at 3:30 p.m. with a mandatory drivers meeting scheduled for 6 p.m. Hot laps will hit the speedway at 7 p.m., sharp. STORYBOOK HOMECOMING: Daryn Pittman Claims Meaningful Lawton Speedway Win
The 2013 champion earned his first win of the year in his last weekend with Roth Motorsports
LAWTON, OK — Sept. 18, 2020 — Daryn Pittman's wife and two kids fell into his arms after he climbed out of his car in Victory Lane at Lawton Speedway Friday night.
It was a moment of celebration, reflection and embracement.
They'd been on a different emotional ride the week prior.
After 25 years of racing, which includes winning the 2013 World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series championship, Pittman, of Owasso, OK, announced he would step away from full-time racing at the end of the year.
Seven days later, it was announced he wouldn’t finish the year with Roth Motorsports – who he’s driven for since the beginning of 2019. In a mutual agreement, the two decided to part ways after this weekend at Lawton Speedway and Devil’s Bowl Speedway. Then Pittman will finish the season with Heffner Racing.
That announcement came a day before returning to his home state to compete in front of family and friends at Lawton Speedway – the track that gave him his first ever Sprint Car win.
Pittman was able to keep it all out of his head on race day, though.
“When you do it this long, you’re pretty good at tuning everything else out,” he said. “It’s been a roller coaster few weeks on a couple of fronts. I’m glad to be making news like this, rather than how we have been.”
It didn't take him long to prove his mental toughness and level of focus either.
Pittman qualified third, won the Drydene Heat Race and then the DIRTVision Fast Pass Dash – placing him on the pole for the Feature. His last win had come in September 2019.
When the 35-lap Feature commenced, he continued to show his starvation for another win. Pittman mastered his relationship with his throttle to launch ahead of second-place Parker Price-Miller on the initial start. The young Indiana-native tried to keep pace with Pittman in the opening laps but eventually lost him by about three car lengths.
The technical track conditions left little room for error. Price-Miller discovered that on Lap 11 when he nearly flipped his car in Turn 3.
His error gave Pittman a new challenge with David Gravel lining up alongside him on the restart. However, like Price-Miller, Gravel couldn’t keep pace with Pittman on the restart and faded. Gravel then had to fend off Sheldon Haudenschild, who eventually found himself in the work area with a flat left rear tire and fought back to a fourth-place finish.
On the final restart with 18 laps to go, reigning champion Brad Sweet took advantage of Gravel's bad start and stole second place.
The Roth Motorsports #83 car had a challenger for the first time all night. With 10 laps to go and slower traffic not making Pittman’s life easy, Sweet raised the heart rate and blood pressure of those biting their fingers for the Oklahoma kid.
Sweet dove underneath his former Kasey Kahne Racing teammate into Turn 1 with seven laps to go and nosed ahead of him through the corner. Pittman had the better momentum around the high side, though, and charged ahead. Sweet then had six more laps to rebuild another run. He made the most of them.
The NAPA Auto Parts #49 inched closer to Pittman every lap. Three car lengths. Two cars lengths. One.
On the final lap, he was there. Sweet made a last-ditch effort of again throwing his car underneath Pittman into Turn 1. He just about cleared him by the center of the corner but Pittman wouldn't open the door for him to take the lead. With the momentum on the top lane still on his side, Pittman launched back ahead of his last lap rival off the corner.
By clearing Sweet off Turn 2, Pittman went on to end his winless streak, silence any questions of his performance and throw a confetti-filled homecoming party in Victory Lane with his family and friends.
“To win here (at Lawton Speedway) with as many friends and family, people that have supported me for 25 years, honestly some of them longer than that, honestly means more than anything,” Pittman said. “Yeah, we’re glad we won, but with as bad as our season has been, I still show up to every race to win and know that we can contend. It’s just been a struggle and a grind. I show up with the same attitude every race. And the same effort, and, man, we just hit it tonight.
“I’ve got to thank Dennis and Teresa (Roth) for giving me this opportunity for the last two years to run their car. You know, unfortunately it just didn’t work out the way we wanted. I couldn’t be more grateful for them sticking with me and giving me this opportunity to stay out on the road and continue to do what I love to do. Man, it’s a great feeling. This is what Victory Lane feels like. I was starting to forget.”
Sweet had to settle for his eighth runner-up finish this year but was able to extend his points lead. He’s now 16 points ahead of Logan Schuchart, who finished fifth.
“I kept getting a run off (Turn) four, thinking I could slide him (Pittman) and maybe show him the bottom and get him off the top,” Sweet said. "I just didn’t do a good job there. But he did a good job. He covered all of his lines right and got through traffic good enough that we couldn’t get him. I know it’s kind of Daryn’s last run here, so I’m really happy for him and his family.”
Gravel finished third for the second race in a row and extended his top-10 streak to 25 top-10 finishes in a row.
“I felt like I had just as good of a car as anybody there at the beginning and just faded late,” Gravel said. “We want to get these wins. I’m sick of these top-fives and stuff. Being consistent is great, but we want to win races. So, hopefully we can get in Victory Lane tomorrow.”
The Texas Outlaw Nationals at Devil’s Bowl Speedway on Saturday will be Pittman’s final race with Roth Motorsports. He also has 13 more races this season before he hangs up his helmet as a full-time driver.
No matter the results in that time, his home state return provided a moment of celebration, reflection and embracement.

Mark Smith Untouchable On Night 2 Of The Hockett/McMillin Memorial
Bryan Hulbert – WHEATLAND, Mo. (September 18, 2020) Leading start to finish Friday night, Pennsylvania's Mark Smith was untouchable with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network on Night 2 of the Hockett/McMillin Memorial.

Asked what it took to stay up front both nights, Smith replied, "This is a hard track to keep up with. When the reworked, I really didn't know what to do, so I just ended up doing the same setup I had last night, and it worked really well."
Battling the first few laps with Sam Hafertepe, Jr. for the lead, Smith cleared the Hill Racing No. 15h and began to pull away. Running first and second the first eight laps, Hafertepe grabbed the cushion through the first and second turns, allowing California's Justin Sanders to slip by. Well, into slower traffic by that point, Smith was still able to pick his way to a nearly three-second advantage.
Under red on Lap 14, when Chase Randall flipped off the fourth turn, the race resumed with slower cars giving Smith a three-car buffer over the field. Finding lapped traffic once more, slower cars did little to slow the Mach1 Chassis No. M1 as the checkered flag dropped greeting the winner 2.642-seconds ahead of Sanders and earned the Pennsylvania shoe the pole in Saturday's $10,000 to win A-Feature.
Justin's third career podium appearance with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network; the run was enough to lock the No. 16a into Saturday's big show. Sam Hafertepe, Jr. in third will position the No. 15h to the right of the front row. Advancing 10 positions for the second night in the row, Derek Hagar crossed fourth with Jordon Mallett completing the top five.
Moving up from 10th, Blake Hahn made it to sixth with Tim Crawley tearing through the field from 20th to grab seventh. Scott Bogucki was eighth with Dylan Westbrook and Ayrton Gennetten, making up the top ten.
Of the 77 drivers that checked in on Thursday, 74 were on hand Friday night. SCE Gaskets Heat Race wins went to Chase Randall, Ryan Timms, Mark Smith, Sam Hafertepe, Jr., Timothy Smith, Alex Hill, Sean McClelland, and Zach Davis. Hoosier Tire Qualifiers were won by Jordon Mallett, Kyle Bellm, Slater Helt, Jonathan Cornell, Tanner Holmes, Robbie Price, and Matt Covington. BMRS B-Feature wins went to Brandon Anderson, Dale Howard, and Harli White. Brandon Anderson topped the Brodix LCQ.
Provisional starts were utilized by Matt Covington (Points), Roger Crockett (Points), and Miles Paulus (Regional).

WINDOM BECOMES FIRST 4-TIME HURTUBISE CLASSIC VICTOR AT TERRE HAUTE

Terre Haute, Indiana (September 18, 2020).........In the long, storied history of the Terre Haute (Ind.) Action Track, few drivers have had the amount of success that Chris Windom has accrued in USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car competition at the half-mile dirt oval.
Friday night at Terre Haute, Windom pounced early, shooting to the lead on the opening lap from his starting spot inside the second row, then carved his way through a gridlock of traffic to become the first four-time winner of the Jim Hurtubise Classic, surpassing the three accumulated by Jack Hewitt in 1990-91-95.
"With how good he was here, that's pretty special." Windom reflected. "I honestly didn't know that could be broken tonight, so that was really cool to find that out after the race. This place has been so good to me throughout my whole career. I love coming here and racing. We've always had a fast car here all those years."
Windom (Canton, Ill.) also became just the sixth driver to win at least six USAC Sprint Car features at Terre Haute. Gary Bettenhausen and Hewitt each won eight while his half-a-dozen ranks right alongside Bubby Jones, Sheldon Kinser and J.J. Yeley for third all-time at the track.
Furthermore, the triumph marked Windom's 28th overall career USAC National Sprint Car victory, surpassing Kevin Thomas Jr. to move him to 15th all-time with Tyler Courtney, Levi Jones and J.J. Yeley.
Windom had previously won the Hurtubise Classic in 2011-16-17, the latter of which came during his USAC National Sprint Car championship season. Windom is mired in a similar dogfight this year as well, and his performance at Terre Haute elevated him into the series point lead by just two markers over Brady Bacon with four events remaining over the next three weekends.
It was evident from the word "go" that Windom had turned on the proverbial switch on this night. After qualifying fourth to pick up three points, in his heat race, he charged from his sixth starting spot to first in quick succession to earn another eight for that victory. In the feature, again, he wasted no time getting to the front and stayed there for the entire duration to gain 70 points, thus turning a nine-point deficit to Brady Bacon into a two-point lead.
Windom knows this game, as he's been here before as recently as three years ago. The phrase "points racing" has a sour connotation, but for him, points racing refers to being on the attack to gain every point possible rather than sitting back, riding it out cautiously and playing it safe.
"Right now, with how tight the points battle is, every point matters." Windom explained. "I needed to win that heat and I needed to win the feature. If we just keep doing that every night, we should put ourselves in good shape. "We just got to keep showing up and preparing cars to win the race every night and the points will work itself out. It's going to be fun. It's going to change every night. Hopefully, it doesn't change again for me, but It's so tight, one heat race position or one qualifying spot can change it."
The opening lap of the 30-lap feature saw sixth-starting C.J. Leary, who earlier had moved into a tie with Kevin Thomas Jr. for 11th all-time with his 29th career Fatheadz Eyewear Fast Qualifying time, saw his bid for a repeat championship take a major hit when he flipped in turn two, ending his night with a 22nd place result. He came into the evening fourth in the standings with a 40-point deficit, but now trails by 77 points.
On the complete restart, Windom punched the throttle and slid from his third starting spot past pole sitter Dave Darland for the initial lead. Darland countered back underneath Windom exiting turn two with nary a credit card's width separating the two to retake the position, albeit briefly. Windom reloaded and returned fired as he dove to the inside guardrail in turn three to snag the lead for good.
Windom opened up a near straightaway advantage by lap eight when the action slowed for Kevin Thomas Jr. who stopped at the entrance to turn three with a flat right rear tire while running 11th at the time. Thomas restarted and worked his way back to a 7th place finish.
On the ensuing restart, recent California to Indiana transplant Jake Swanson and Carson Short, in his debut for Michael Dutcher Motorsports, locked horns in turn two while tussling for the 8th position, with Short's front bumper and Swanson's rear bumper becoming connected as they grinded to a stop midway down the back straightaway. Both restarted with Short finishing 11th and Swanson 15th.
By halfway, Windom was cruising, notching a 10-car length advantage of 1.5 sec. as traffic from the tail end of the lead lap cars loomed. With the preferred top groove mostly occupied, Windom had to split, dip and dive to escape from the snarling clutches of the ever-closing pack in which Darland was the closest. With 10 to go, the gap between Windom and Darland had been cut in half until Windom flew underneath Tye Mihocko in turn three, then split between Max Adams and Jonathan Vennard to regain what he had nearly lost, negotiating the fine high-wire balancing act between patience and urgency throughout.
"Toward the end of the race, it got really technical to pass lapped cars because it was so slick to the cushion," Windom relayed. "When you went to slide somebody, you had nothing to stop you but that little cushion or the wall. You really had to pick and choose your battles there. You had to get to the lapped car to slide them. A couple times, I had the wrong timing and the wrong spacing on them, and I had to tuck in behind them rather than throw a slider that wasn't going to clear them. That was making me nervous because I figured everyone was coming at that point. With Windom now in the clear, he gained his largest lead of the race at 2.252 sec. until the advantage was eradicated by a turn two Swanson spin on the 24th lap, which brought out the final caution of the night. While Windom was already seeing a clear path ahead, the yellow gave new life to the rest of the top-five contenders in Darland, along with past Hurtubise Classic winners Justin Grant, Robert Ballou and Brady Bacon, who were plucked out of their fight with traffic and provided a new shot at the leader.
However, none of that deterred Windom who forcefully put his foot down and ended all thoughts of being beaten on this occasion as he took off to claim his second Terre Haute USAC Sprint Car feature win of 2020 by a 0.752 sec. margin over Darland, Grant, Ballou and Bacon. Tuna, Windom's new dog, joined the victory lane celebration in the first race the pup has ever attended.
Logan Seavey, whose Reinbold-Underwood Motorsports car had suffered a mechanical issue during hot laps, was forced into a backup car for the team. After a qualifying run in the backup which bellowed popping and sputtering noises throughout both laps, the car did not meet the minimum weight requirements in post qualifying tech inspection. After that misfortune, the team's night turned around with Seavey transferring through his heat race to earn the $200 ProSource Hard Work Award, then advanced from his 22nd starting spot to finish 9th in the feature to score KSE Racing Products / The Frolic Bar & Grill Hard Charger honors.

KEVIN HIRTHLER CLAIMS FREEDOM 38 SPORTSMAN VICTORY FRIDAY NIGHT AT GRANDVIEW
BECHTELSVILLE, PA September 19, 2020 . . . On a cool and breezy evening the action on the track was hot-and-heavy, Friday night at Grandview Speedway, with the seventh annual Freedom 38’er featuring Sportsman racers on the menu. A total of 55 cars in action made up the largest field ever assembled for the event, paying a healthy $3,550 to the winner of the 38-lap event on the high-banked third-mile clay covered lightning-fast oval in Bechtelsville, PA.
Following a luck-of-the-draw line-up for the 27 car starting field, second-place starter Steve Davis, of Jackson, N.J., aboard the Howie Finch owned Ice Less backed No. 4 mount, took the lead with the initial green waving with pole starter Joe Toth and third-place starter 28-year-old Brett Kressley, of Orefield, PA, in tow for the first four circuits before a caution appeared for Brad Arnold slowing with a flat tire.
The new green showed Toth moving out in front on the restart, followed by Kressley and Davis for lap 5, with Davis knifing his way back out in front for lap 6, with Kressley and Toth battling for the runner-up spot. On lap 7, Kressley powered his way out in front steering the Keith Hoffman owned No. 6 Over entry, as Toth and Davis trailed. By lap 9, Mike Gular, of Sassamansville, PA, who started from fourth-place, advanced into the runner-up role, with Toth and Davis following.
A caution on lap 11 for Ryan Beltz slowing to a stop in turn 2 forced the field to regroup, once again.
Kressley remained the race leader for lap 12, with a quick caution for Lex Shive spinning in turn 4 again bunching up the competition.
With racing back underway, it was Kressley again in command, followed by Davis and Kevin Hirthler, who started the event from eighteenth-place, looking strong as he quickly cut his way through the field, now running in third aboard his self-owned Pioneer Pole Building backed Bicknell chassied Crate powered No. 117 ride. Hirthler and Davis battled side-by-side for a couple of tours, with Davis fighting off every challenge.
At the halfway point, it was Kressley, Davis, Hirthler, Gular and fifth-place starter 17-year-old Kyle Smith, of Kutztown, PA, making up the top five.
Hirthler ducked underneath Davis exiting turn 2 on lap 25 to steal second-place, as the leaders now got into the slower lapped traffic, making things interesting.
“You could move anywhere you wanted to. The top, bottom or middle tonight,” revealed Hirthler. “The track was great and I used the top side in the beginning and, later, the bottom to cut through the traffic. My car felt great all night and we rolled the dice before the feature trying to decide if we’d run the hard tire or try the softer tire. I knew the car would get beat up pretty good coming through traffic from the back and I guess we made the right choice?”
Hirthler challenged Kressley racing through heavy lapped traffic for laps 27, 28 and 29 and on lap 30 they crossed the stripe running wheel-to-wheel. On lap 31 racing through turns 1 and 2, Hirthler made a nice move getting underneath Kressley and became the new race leader down the back chute. A yellow on lap 32 for Cole Stangle slowing with a broken left rear suspension bunched up the field for one final time.
“It certainly was a hard fought battle there with Brett. A great job tonight turned in by him. He was really fast,” Hirthler said.
The new green showed Hirthler taking the lead over Kressley, Davis and Gular for lap 33, with Gular slipping by Davis for third on lap 35.
“We had a great starting spot and I was just out there riding around, honestly, when out of nowhere along came Kevin with his Crate engine and he just smoked us all,” commented Kressley. “I was out there searching around and not paying attention to the lap counter as I should’ve been. We’re all good though. It was a good night.”
Hirthler went unchallenged for the final circuits to easily put a W in the win column. Kressley, Gular, Davis and Smith rounded out the top five at the checkered.
“Those guys that started up front were just out there riding around so we took a gamble on what tire to run,” noted the 40-year-old race winner from Boyertown, PA. “I am truly honored to be the first to win this race twice. It means a lot to me.”
Hirthler, who previously won the event back in 2018, became the first driver to repeat as a race winner in the event.
The triumph by Hirthler was his first in a Sportsman car since April 6, 2019 and the win pushed his career win total up to four. Being the first Crate powered car to cross the line, Hirthler was awarded an additional $100 bonus, bringing his total for the win up to $3,650 for his efforts.
“We put a brand-new Crate motor in the car for tonight right out of the box from Chevrolet,” offered Hirthler. “We just picked it up earlier this week off the shelf and put it in the car this week.”
The fifth-place finisher Kyle Smith was awarded an additional $100 as well for being the first weekly Sportsman racer to cross the line.
The 10-lap heat race winners were Brandon Edgar, Cole Stangle, Ryan Beltz, Tom Miller, Brett Kressley and Brett Gilmore. The 10-lap consolation race winners were Lex Shive, Kevin Hirthler and Ryan Higgs.
A total of 53 358 Modified cars took part in practice sessions throughout the evening, preparing for the 50th annual Freedom 76 event scheduled for the following night. Again, it produced the largest field of cars for practice since the “Night before the Freedom 76” events began back in 2014.
Next event coming up, after the Freedom 76 weekend is complete, is the Mods at the Mad House on Saturday, October 17th. Included will be three 20-lap features for Small Block/Big Block Modified racers each paying $2000 to win. A driver winning all three earns a Pioneer Pole Building Triple Sweep Bonus of $2500. And if someone falls short of the three wins and claims two wins there is a PPB Double Sweep Bonus of $500. And for the Sportsman racers there is $1,300 to win their feature.

CRAIG VON DOHREN AND BRIAN HIRTHLER EARN GRANDVIEW CHAMPIONSHIPS
BIG MONEY ACTION FEATURING FREEDOM 38 ON FRIDAY AND 50TH ANNUAL FREEDOM 76 ON SATURDAY—PAST WINNER STEWART FRIESEN ENTERS ALONG WITH BILLY PAUCH JR, BOBBY VARIN, MIKE MARESCA AND MANY OTHERS
BECHTELSVILLE, PA September 14, 2020 . . . Consistency had great rewards for Craig Von Dohren and Brian Hirthler. Even though they each only won one feature this season in each of their divisions of competition they were each able to walk off with Grandview Speedway championships.
For Craig Von Dohren the 2020 T.P.Trailers NASCAR Track Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series marked the 11th time in his storied career that he was able to walk off with the title wheeling the Harring Transportation entry. The last time the Oley, PA racer walked off with the title was 2017. With a total of 3153 points Von Dohren topped his Oley neighbor Duane Howard who was the defending champion. Howard also won a feature and was able to tally 2906 points with one feature win. Doug Manmiller grabbed third with 2694 followed by Jared Umbenhauer with 2691 and rounding out the top five was 10 time champion Jeff Strunk with 2669 points. A total of 50 racers earned points.
In the T.P.Truck Equipment Sportsman division Brian Hirthler survived a difficult night of racing that almost cost him the championship after having led most of the season. Hirthler, a champion in 2017, earned 2258 points with one feature win to his credit with the Alpine Truck Repair entry. The Green Lane, PA racer edged out Brad Arnold by just five points. Others who finished close to the champion were Ryan Beltz with 2230 counters, Kyle Lilick earned 2227 points while Jack Butler tallied 2114. Close to 60 racers competed in the Sportsman division with only Kyle Lilick winning more than once.
The excitement is continuing to build for two big nights of auto racing action, September 18 and 19, at the popular banked clay oval topped by the 50th Annual Freedom 76 Modified Classic that rewards the winner with $35,550 plus lap money on Saturday night. This race is expected to attract many of the top names in dirt track Modified racing.
The weekend kicks off with the action packed Freedom 38 for Sportsman stock cars paying the winner of the 38-lapper $3,550. This race is also expected to attract many visitors to test their skills.
Also on Friday night, action starting at 7:30 p.m., the Modified racers planning to participate in the Freedom 76 will be given practice time during the evening’s events.
Pits open at 3 p.m. and main grandstand gates open at 5:30 p.m.
Adult admission is $15 with youngsters 6 through 11 paying $5 and kids under 6 admitted free. Pit admission for Friday is $35 and there is no license required.
Tickets for the Freedom 76 will sell for $40. Youngsters, 6 through 11, on Saturday will pay $10 while kids under 6 are admitted free. Pit admission will be $45 with no license required. There are no advance tickets being offered.
Saturday will see pit gates open at 9 a.m. Ticket windows open at 3:00 p.m. Fans will be able to enter the speedway at the first turn and fourth turn spectator gates to reserve seats with blankets between 9am and 12noon.
On track action will get started at 7 p.m. as top Modified racing talents participate in qualifying events, the $1,000 to win Kirsten Snyder Web Design & Photography Cash Dash, the Schaffer Racing Minuteman 20 and top it all off with the 50th edition of the Freedom 76, “The Granddaddy of Modified Stock Car Classics”.
A large amount of lap money will be divided amongst lap leaders during the big race and the racer gaining the most positions during the 76 laps will receive $500 from Bobby Gunther Walsh and his sponsors as the Hard Charger.
Competition Carburetion Fast Lap of $50 will be awarded Friday, Sept. 18 for the Freedom 38 and for the Saturday September 19th Freedom 76.
All winners are entered into a random drawing at the end of the season for a Grand prize of $500.00
Freedom Fest will take place from 10 AM to 12 NOON in the first turn pavilion area and will feature music by Maddie Pearl a group that includes front man Colby Knappenberger, Roger Knappenberger (1973 Freedom 76 winner), Pete Knappenberger and young Rian Stevens. Race cars driven by Ryan Grim, Colt Harris and Dylan Swinehart will be on display.
Bob Hilbert Sportswear will present a jacket to the winner of the Freedom 76.
🚨ATTENTION RACE TEAMS: Due to the right rear tire shortage. The tire stamp will be open for Friday, Sept 18th Sportsman 38er, and Saturday Sept 19th, Freedom 76.
