KRESSLEY EARNS SECOND MODIFIED WIN OF THE SEASON AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY
CHUCK ECKERT TAKES FIRST CAREER SPORTSMAN FEATURE VICTORY
BECHTELSVILLE, PA. August 23, 2020 . . . On the previous Saturday night at Grandview Speedway, Brett Kressley was forced to be a spectator for the 30-lap T.P. Trailers Modified NASCAR Advanced Auto Parts feature race rather than a participant due to a disqualification after a heat race incident. He returned this week with a score to settle and wasted no time charging from his ninth starting grid to the front of the 28-car starting lineup. Kressley, behind the wheel of the Kressley Auto & Truck Sales No. 19K, passed Richie Hitzler for the lead on the 12th lap and went on to score his second win of the season to increase his career win total to 14.
Chuck Eckert, son of the late Chargin’ Charlie Eckert, led the entire way in the 25-lap T.P. Truck Equipment NASCAR Sportsman feature for his first career to become the ninth different winner in the division. It was an emotional win for him as he was so happy to be standing in victory lane.
Modified and Sportsman feature winners that met the necessary requirements received monetary awards from T.P. Trailers and a certificate from VP Fuels for product awards. The Dan’s Deli ½-way hoagie award recipients were Kressley and Eckert. Jesse Leiby earned an extra $100 bonus from the track for being the highest crate engine finisher
Modified racing had Hitzler as the early pacesetter at the drop of the green.
The yellow was thrown with two laps completed after Craig Whitmoyer hit the backstretch wall. Ray Swinehart was also involved and they were both out of contention. Hitzler held his own on the restart followed by Brett Gilmore, Ron Kline, Kevin Hirthler and Kressley.
Kline and Kressley put on quite a battle for second which gave Hitzler some breathing room. Once Kressley cleared Kline, his next mission was to take control of first.
On the 14th lap restart needed when Kyle Weiss got sideways on the backstretch and slowed down causing Craig Von Dohren, left with nowhere to go, to make contact with him. Kressley was still at the head of the pack with second through fifth now comprised of Duane Howard, Hitzler, Kline and Louden Reimert. Trying to break into the top five was Mike Gular, which he did by overtaking third on lap 17 to pressure 357.
The front runners had a tricky situation to deal with as they approached lap traffic by lap 17 and had to use heads up driving.
With five laps remaining the running order behind Kressley, who ran the bottom lane in turns one and two and the high lane in three and four because he knew the order behind consisted of Howard, Gular, Rick Laubach and Weiss were in pursuit and he wanted to take their line away.
Kressley dealt with the lapped cars and never looked back until the drop of the checkered to be the second repeat winner of the season. Finishing second was Howard followed by Gular, Laubach and Weiss. Kline, Reimert, Ryan Grim, Jeff Strunk, last week’s winner, and Hirthler rounded out the top ten.
Heats were won by Hitzler, Jared Umbenhauer, Howard and Kline. Dylan Swinehart and Brad Brightbill, now driving the BMS No. 14, won the consies.
Before the first lap could be recorded in the Sportsman feature the red was out for a multi-car first turn tangle. The second try was thwarted as cars were spun in the second turn. Finally when action went green again Eckert was in the lead trailed by Scott Kohler, already a feature winner this season; Chris Esposito, Nathan Mohr and Kyle Lilick.
The red was thrown once again on the 11th lap when rookie Mark Gaugler rode the first turn wall with heavy impact. He was shaken up a bit and the car was destroyed. Eckert resumed the lead on the restart while Esposito, Brad Arnold, B. Hirthler and S. Kohler tried to unseat him.
Eckert, a former Enduro driver that enjoys competing at the 1/3-mile oval and feels he needs more seat time, never surrendered the lead and went on to win the event. Esposito, who showed sportsmanship and congratulated Eckert finished in the runner-up spot trailed by Arnold, B. Hirthler and S. Kohler. Sixth through tenth were Jack Butler, Kyle Lilick, Mohr, Ryan Beltz and Jesse Leiby.
The month of August closes out for Saturday night stock car racing on the 29th with a tripleheader show that features the T.P. Trailers Modifieds, T.P.Truck Equipment Sportsman and Excel 600 Modifieds. Adult admission for the tripleheader is $18 while youngsters under are 12 admitted free. Racing gets the green at 7:30 p.m.
And on Saturday September 5 the Modifieds and Sportsman will be in action. Just two point events left in the season. Added on this night is the first “Hard Charger Challenge” which will feature racers now in the top 15 in Modified standings and have never won a Modified feature at Grandview.
Reminder: No NASCAR license is required for crew or fans. Drivers can purchase temporary licenses good for one event or 15 day license.

WOHL WINS WALL STADIUM STOCK CAR THRILLER SATURDAY
WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. ~ Defending champion Elliot Wohl won a thrilling 25- Factory Stock feature race at Wall Stadium Speedway Saturday night with a late race pass for the win. The victory was the second straight for the Beachwood resident and puts him in contention for a second straight driving crown behind point leader Bryan O'Shea of Neptune City.
Nick Catone of Brick led the early laps as Manchester's Scott Riggleman and Wohl broke into the top five on lap five. Riggleman then took the lead near the halfway point as Howell's John Carpenter and a few others moved into contention. At times the top four raced in a tight pack before Carpenter took the lead with three laps remaining.
Moments later Carpenter and Wohl battled side-by-side for the lead before Wohl inched into the lead and on to the win. Carpenter and Riggleman were second and third, with Rahway's Billy Both and Catone wrapping up the top five.
“This Factory Stock division is just so good this year,” Wohl said after the victory. “You have to have a great car and fight for every spot you can get! There is a lot of talent and fast cars here this season.”
Jackson's Carsten DiGiantomasso jumped to the lead early and raced to victory in the Sportsman 25-lapper. Kevin Davison of Howell, who took advantage of the fact that his Modified division had the night of to race in his old Sportsman car, moved to second by Tomas Stainionis of Freehold just past halfway and challenged the winner to the end. Manahawkin's Jake Nelke, Neil Rutt III of Edison and Kevin Eyres of Colts Neck wrapped up the top five.
Ryan Maher of Neptune City earned his second win of the year in the 25-lapper for the 4 Cylinder Stocks, taking the lead near halfway and never looking back. Sal Liguori of Hazlet, Alonzo Morales of Burlington, Wall's TJ Graves and Brick's Cole Mullen were second through fifth.
Former champ Bryan Gardella of Brick won his second Legend Cars 25-lapper of the season over Quinn Trimmer of of Waldwick, who recovered from a jarring qualifying race accident. Eric Green of Red Bank, Joe Przybylinski of Fairfield and Steven Woytysiak of Roslyn Heights, N.Y. completed the top five.
Jerick Johnson of Mooresville, NC made his annual trip to New Jersey memorable by winning his first ever Limited Late Model 25-lap feature race. Buddy Miller, Hazlet's Chris Silvestri, Ricky Giannino and Stephen Puglisi wrapped up the top five.
The 2020 Saturday night regular season continues this Saturday (August 29) evening with the Modifieds, Sportsman cars, Factory Stocks, 4 Cylinder Stocks and Limited Late Models all seeing action in “Cone Race” main events. The pit area will open at 1:00 p.m. Grandstands will open at 4:30 p.m., qualifying starts at 5:30 p.m. and main event action starts at 7:00 p.m.

ATTICA, Ohio – Cap Henry continued his dominance at Attica Raceway Park Saturday, lapping up to the fourth place car to earn his seventh 410 victory of the year and an extra $1,000 for sweeping the double-header weekend at “Ohio’s Finest Racing” speed plant on Foster’s Auto Body/Croghan Colonial Bank Night.
Henry, from Republic, Ohio, took the lead on lap 8 of the 30 lap affair and never looked back in the non-stop feature for the Callie’s Performance Products 410 Sprints. It was his 10th overall victory of 2020 and his 12 career win at Attica.
“With tonight not being a points night Zach (Meyers) and I kind of took a little bit of an effort to try some stuff we haven’t been able to….not really sure if it was better or not but we were good. It’s crazy to stand down here this much in a season. Zach and Jim and Brett and Tess and Dana and Patty and everyone involved…it takes a team effort to do this and I’m super grateful for what I have,” said Henry beside his Dragons Milk White, New Holland Spirits, Beer Barrel Bourbon, FK Rod Ends, Wings Unlimited, Kistler Engines, J&J Auto Racing, Linder Shocks, Simpson, Ballistic Designs, Big D’s Pizza, Lead Head Water Fowl, Geck Electric, Nemesis Designs backed #4
Fremont, Ohio’s Paul Weaver became the third leader of the 25 lap Fremont Fence 305 Sprints A-main on lap 20 and drove to his fourth feature win of the season at Attica. It was his 53rd career win in the division at the track.
“We struggled the last couple of weeks….we were a top five car. We just tightened it up a little more and going out second definitely helped as far as maneuvering around. You didn’t have to rely on the top which was fast with a clear track. I have to thank B&B Drain, Bob Hampshire and Dave Rice, M&L Excavating,” said Weaver.
Fostoria, Ohio’s Shawn Valenti held off several late race charges from Jim Holcomb to earn the dirt truck feature win. It was his 19th career win in the division at Attica as he sits atop the all-time victory list.
“I watched Jamie (Miller) in that 305 race and I thought man he’s going to do same thing in truck and be tough. A lot of guys want to count this truck out already but I think we’re going to be around awhile. I have to thank Adam Jones at A Plus Auto Center for the extra money tonight. He’s an awesome guy and a great backer on this truck,” said Valenti beside his Best Performance Motorsports, A Plus Auto Center, Craig Miller Trucking, KS Sales & Service, Gressman Powersports, Dave Story Equipment, Speedways Bar and Grill backed #7B.
“A couple of weeks ago I lost a dear friend who was a good fan. We lost him to cancer and I want to say this one is for you crazy Dave,” added Valenti.
Cale Conley and Henry brought the field to green for the 30-lap 410 A-main with Conley bolting into a commanding lead over Henry, Mitch Harble, John Ivy, Travis Philo and Chad Kemenah. With two laps in a tremendous battle ensued for third involving Harble, Philo and Ivy with Philo taking the position a lap later.
Henry started steadily eating away at Conley’s lead and on lap eight threw a slider at him for the top spot in turns three and four. Philo grabbed second from Conley on lap 11 with Harble, Ivy, Stuart Brubaker and Kemenah in pursuit.
Henry was simply too good and drove away for the win with Philo, Conley, Ivy and Brubaker rounding out the top five.
Jamie Miller and Steve Rando comprised the front row of the 25 lap 305 sprint A-main and when the green flew Miller gained the advantage of Kyle Peters, Matt Foos, Rando, Mike Keegan and Weaver. Following a caution on lap two, Miller began to pull away while Foos moved into second.
Following a caution on lap four, Miller again got an excellent restart but could not shake Foos with Peters locked in a battle for third with Rando and Weaver. The race ground to a halt on lap eight for a Kody Brewer flip and after he walked back to the pits the racing action resumed with Miller leading Foos while Weaver charged from fourth to third.
By lap 14 Weaver began to close on Miller and Foos. Foos was able to wrestle the lead away on lap 17 with Weaver taking second two circuits later. With five laps to go Weaver drove into the lead but Foos and Miller were glued to his rear bumper.
Once in the lead Weaver pulled away the remaining four laps for the win over Foos, Miller, Keegan and Seth Schneider.
Things heated up quickly at the drop of the green for the 15 lap dirt truck feature with Dustin Keegan holding a slight advantage over Steve Sabo, Andy Keegan, Kyle Lagrou, Paul Brown Junior and Valenti. Following a caution after a lap was scored, Keegan and Sabo battled side by side for the lead while Valenti worked his way to fourth by lap three.
Sabo took the lead on lap four with Keegan and Valenti making it a three-wide affair with Valenti taking the lead on lap six. Valenti could not shake the field as Sabo and a charging Jim Holcomb stayed within striking distance.
A caution with four laps to go put Holcomb and Sabo right on Valenti’s deck lid but Valenti blasted the high line and drove to the victory over Holcomb, Sabo, Jamie Miller and Austin Black.

RIVER RUNNER: Kyle Larson Steals Win In River Cities Debut
Logan Schuchart extends his points lead over reigning champion Brad Sweet
GRAND FORKS, ND — Aug. 21, 2020 — Kyle Larson was sideways in the Turn 4 grass with four laps to go as Logan Schuchart ran away with the lead at River Cities Speedway Friday night.
Yet, he still managed to turn an unpredictable situation into a characteristically canny conclusion.
The Elk Grove, CA driver rallied in three laps to catch and strong arm his way past the Shark Racing #1S to claim his eighth World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series win in 2020 — making him the winningest driver, so far, this year in the Series.
“The Outlaws is as tough as it gets for Sprint Car racing throughout the world," Larson said. "To come in here and be as strong as we have all year long and get a lot of wins, it’s been a lot of fun. We need to keep getting our stuff better, because everyone is chasing us and getting their stuff better each race.”
Friday’s event at the quarter-mile speedway was Larson’s debut at River Cities and his first time racing in North Dakota. He kicked it off my setting quick time in Qualifying and making his way into the DIRTVision Fast Pass Dash with a second-place run in his Drydene Heat Race behind David Gravel.
He drew the rear for the Dash but in typical Larson fashion, he seamlessly teleported his way from sixth to third on the opening lap of the Dash and ended up second. Gravel claimed the win — placing he and Larson on the front row for the 40-lap Feature.
Their battle around the bullring would be an extension of the war they waged for the win at Knoxville Raceway last weekend.
When the duo drag raced to Turn 1 at the start of the Feature, Larson darted ahead by ripping the top lane of the corner. Points leader Logan Schuchart followed in his tire tracks, stealing second from Gravel on the first lap, as well. The Silva Motorsports #57 did as it does every race, though, and pulled away from the field.
The end of the first 14 laps saw reigning champion Brad Sweet’s streak of bad luck continue. Wayne Johnson spun in Turn 4, causing cars to stack up. Sweet, who was fifth, jumped a tire of a slowed car in front of him and went head first into the Turn 4 wall. His Kasey Kahne Racing team was able to get his car repaired and send him back on track to make a charge from the rear. And he did. While Larson and Schuchart battled, Sweet made his way back to fifth by the end of the Feature.
Larson held a commanding lead over Schuchart for the majority of the race, but with heavy traffic in the final five laps Schuchart took advantage of the opportunity to strike. Locked on Larson’s bumper down the backstretch with four laps to go, Schuchart dove to the bottom in Turn 3. Larson also had the same idea. The two drivers made contact with Larson getting turned into the Turn 4 grass off Schuchart’s front bumper.
“I felt contact into (Turn) three,” Larson said. “I wasn't sure if it was a lapper because I came across. But thank God I was able to keep it straight. I knew there wasn’t many laps left. Had to get up on the wheel there.”
Schuchart sped away while Larson added off-roading to his resume by steering his car straight through the grass and back on to the track without losing another spot.
The win appeared to be in Schuchart’s hand as he held about a half of a straight away lead on Larson coming to the white flag. However, Larson tested the limits of his machine each corner. He throw it into Turn 1 and found enough traction to cut a few car lengths off Schuchart's lead.
On their exit of Turn 2, Schuchart couldn’t put the power down quick enough and allowed Larson to close even further. At Turn 3, Schuchart entered through the middle, while Larson went as high as he could go. Their cars met at Turn 4, but while Schuchart was sliding up, Larson turned down underneath him and rocketed by to steal the win.
“I knew he was going to have to make a decision going into (Turn) three and hoped he wasn’t going to run the cushion,” Larson said. “I knew that would be my only shot. I was just able to time the run good and clear him off of (Turn) four here.
“That was definitely an exciting one. It’s been fun to win a lot. I hope we keep it going.”
While Schuchart had to settle for second, he was still able to extend his points lead over Sweet – now 24 points ahead of the defending champion.
“It is just tough when you’re behind a guy like that,” Schuchart, of Hanover, PA, said about racing with Larson. “Kyle doesn’t make any mistakes. He’s tough. I had one shot right there. I felt like I could get through (Turns) one and two a little bit better at times and catch him.
“I felt like I had one shot there. I was getting close and had a really good run into (Turn) three when he cut to the bottom and I was trying to back off and go to the outside of him and caught his back bumper. I’m not trying to hit him, and I know he didn’t the other night at Knoxville. That’s racing and we’re racing hard. He just drove a little bit better than I did and got the job done.”
Ten-time Series champion Donny Schatz, of Fargo, ND, put on a show for his home state crowd, battling with Gravel and James McFadden for third throughout the Feature. He was able to come out on top of that battle, rounding out the podium, and rebound from a rough weekend in Knoxville where he was unable to score a top-10 finish.
“We didn’t have the right combination here tonight,” Schatz said. “Just the way it goes. When you get behind the eight ball a little bit you get a long way behind. My guys are doing an incredible job with what we have to work with and will have to keep digging.”
Gravel’s fourth-place finish helped keep Jason Johnson Racing in close contention for the team championship – only eight points behind Schuchart’s Shark Racing team.

CARB NIGHT TRIUMPH MAKES TANNER LOR'S WINNINGEST USAC SILVER CROWN DRIVER

Brownsburg, Indiana (August 21, 2020).........After watching his brother, Kody, score the victory in his Indy Pro 2000 Series debut earlier in the evening, Tanner Swanson made Friday an all-Swanson night, leading the final 60 circuits of the 100-lap Dave Steele Carb Night Classic en route to becoming the winningest USAC Silver Crown driver at Brownsburg, Indiana's Lucas Oil Raceway with his sixth career triumph at the .686-mile paved oval.
Tanner's victory broke a three-way tie at the top for most USAC Silver Crown wins at LOR with his older sibling, Kody Swanson, and Mike Bliss. Tanner's second career Dave Steele Carb Night Classic victory, and first since 2016, marked his eighth career Silver Crown victory, tying him with Chris Windom for 14th all-time.
But this particular one was special during the 50th Silver Crown event held at LOR. It was Tanner's first win with the series in over four years aboard his Bowman Racing/Brickers Pub - T.J. Forge/Beast/Kistler Chevy, one that elevated him as the standard bearer at a track that has been the stage for most of his greatest achievements in the sport, and put him atop all the heroes he remembered watching when he was just beginning in the sport, many of whom he watched from afar and aspired to be, at venues such as LOR.
"It's awesome to see that record," Tanner said. "2004 was (Kody and I's) first time in sprint cars and midgets. We were walking through the pits looking at Tracy Hines, A.J. Fike, Bobby Santos and all these guys we watched on TV, and now we get to etch our names next to those types of guys. It's surreal to be able to race at this level with family."
It just so happened to be an all Swanson front row as well with Tanner occupying the outside and Kody the pole after earlier earning his record-extending 31st career Fatheadz Qualifying time with the series, while also earning a $1,000 bonus courtesy of Mac and Carol Steele, parents of the late 12-time LOR USAC winner, Dave Steele.
It was a tad different scenery for Tanner than what he'd become accustomed to over the past couple of years in the event. He took the back row challenge in the last two Carb Night Classics, driving from 22nd to 2nd in 2018 and 17th to 2nd in 2019. This time around, no such challenge was in play, so in essence, Tanner practically had a head start on the competition.
However, Kody shot out to the early advantage, and by lap 17, the top-three of Kody, Tanner and reigning Carb Night Classic winner, Kyle Hamilton, were nose-to-tail. Hamilton made a bid for second between turns one and two when he and Tanner made tire-to-tire contact - Hamilton's right rear to Tanner's left rear - igniting a brief shower of sparks and sending Hamilton into a spin while Tanner became sideways, but saved it and continued on.
"Early on, you can't afford to give anyone any extra space," Tanner explained. "He didn't get enough to clear me, so we ended up running into each other. I hate it for him that he ended up going to the back but, thankfully, all the tires stayed up and we were able to continue on."
Hamilton stopped in turn two but proceeded to drive back up through the field following the restart to finish an impressive third in the final rundown.
From thereon, Tanner took a brief peek under Kody in turn three but was unable to make up any substantial ground as Kody pulled back out to a roughly 10-car length advantage with more than a third of the race in arrears.
"Early on, I was trying to play with him," Tanner recalled of Kody. "I was watching his hands and seeing how much he was having to work for it. I tried to show him a wheel to see if I could get him to hustle a little bit, but his car was on rails."
However, on lap 40, a problem with the rear brake caliper surfaced for Kody, forcing him into an action rarely seen in auto racing, especially one who's your toughest competition, and also just so happens to be your brother.
"I saw he had a rear brake caliper fail and I saw sparks and things going bad," Tanner remembered. "He checked up and he actually waved me by down the back stretch. I appreciate that he gave us the opportunity like that, but that's Kody. He races you the way you want to be raced."
Tanner immediately pulled away from Kody, distancing himself from the competition until lap 56 when John Heydenreich spun exiting turn two and plowed into the inside wall on the back straightaway. Under yellow, Kody relented his second place running position to pit with his Nolen Racing crew instantaneously putting the car on jacks and going to work. Ultimately, Kody did return to the fray one lap down, soldiering on to finish 10th.

Tanner, for all intents and purposes, wrote his own zip code during the second half of the race, cruising on his lonesome up front while a dice up for positions was occurring from second on back. Aaron Pierce slipped by Bobby Santos late for the second position, his best run since a similar runner-up finish on the dirt in the 2015 Hoosier Hundred at the Indiana State Fairgrounds, all while Hamilton slotted into third.
Navigating his way through traffic with ample ease, Tanner carried out his winning ambitions with a victory in his first racing start of any kind in 2020, dominating the final stages to earn the victory over Pierce, Hamilton and Santos with Justin Grant rounding out the top-five.
There are many roads that lead to success. Tanner and Bowman Racing have taken the road most often traveled, a pairing whose yearly schedule consists annually of only one track, one car, one driver and one team. A system which they have demonstrated they have down pat.
"This is the only time I sit in a racecar all year, so I don't develop any bad habits anywhere else," Tanner said with a laugh. "This is the only place I remember, same with the car. This is the only place these guys come run."

WILMOT, Wis. (August 21, 2020) - For the second time in as many starts, Visalia, California’s Cory Eliason is an Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 main event winner, accomplishing his feat during All Star/IRA Outlaw Sprint Series co-sanctioned action at Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, Wisconsin, on Friday evening, August 21. Impressive, nonetheless, leading 21 circuits of the 30-lap contest while maneuvering through wave after wave of slower traffic, the 2020 All Star championship hopeful was forced to manhandle an ill-handling car, as ignition trouble kept the Rudeen Racing powerplant from reaching full potential.
Despite the loss of horsepower, Eliason held strong, ultimately holding off advancements by Ian Madsen, Hunter Schuerenberg and Tyler Courtney during a pair of green-white-checkered restarts. The Wilmot Raceway victory, Eliason’s first with the Series at the southern Wisconsin short track, was accompanied by a $5,000 top prize.
“This just goes to show how hard these guys work back at the shop,” Cory Eliason said in victory lane, driver of the Rudeen Racing/Hager Realty/Rayce Rudeen Foundation/Rudeen Management/No. 26 sprint car. “It was an eventful few weeks for us with all the racing at Knoxville, but it was nice to come to a place like Wilmot and run at a track that really reminds me of back home in California. I’m not really sure what happened, but by lap three, the motor started to really go flat. Honestly, that may have helped me overall because it didn’t allow for the tires to spin. But regardless, I can’t thank Kevin Rudeen and his family enough for what they do for this race team. I’m sure they were all watching at home tonight.”
Starting third on the feature grid by way of dash result, Eliason’s initial jump proved to be an instant turning point, allowing the driver of the familiar blue No. 26 get around pole sitter Hunter Schuerenberg to secure second by the completion of lap one. At the time, Aurora, Illinois’ Blake Nimee was the main event leader, followed by Eliason, Aaron Reutzel and Schuerenberg.
By lap five, the top three found themselves staring at the back of the field, which was stacking up to be two and three wide and engulfing all lanes of the speedway. The gaggle of slower cars actually proved to be a major benefit for Eliason, who was chipping away at Nimee’s lead in a hurry.
Just four laps later, Eliason was all over Nimee for the top spot, eventually utilizing a slingshot move into corner three to blast around the race leader and a slower car. The move was successful, leaving Nimee in his tracks with Aaron Reutzel and Ian Madsen in tow.
With a caution on lap 15 making way for a clear track and clean air, Eliason’s campaign at the front of the field was relatively uneventful during the middle segment of the main event, that until caution flags reappeared with only two laps remaining, brought about by two-time All Star Circuit of Champions champion and current point leader, Aaron Reutzel, who did a 360-degree spin while battling in the fourth position.
The ensuing restart was only a tease, as Tyler Courtney, who had battled his way from tenth to second, and looked strong enough to challenge Eliason for top honors, spun to a stop in turn one collecting a handful of other competitors. Contact between Ian Madsen’s front bumper and Courtney’s rear bumper ignited the small pileup.
Despite the pause, and a sour engine, Eliason held tough on the following restart, keeping Ian Madsen, Hunter Schuerenberg, Zeb Wise, and Gerard McIntyre at bay.

Kofoid Seals the Deal on SPEED Weekend Night One at Lincoln Speedway

Lincoln, IL. (08/21/2020) Even in the rubber Michael "Buddy" Kofoid found the sweet spot around the top of Lincoln Speedway and took the lead from lap one. Going the distance from there, Kofoid landed his fifth win of the year with the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League.
Bringing the field to the green flag, Cannon McIntosh of Bixby OK. and Michael "Buddy" Kofoid of Penngrove, CA. started the front row of the 30-lapper. Kofoid, a recent winner at Charleston Speedway in July, shot his #67 Keith Kunz Motorsports entry to the lead on the opening lap. Cannon McIntosh took the bottom side and Kofoid who came rocketing into the lead with a good lap around the top.
While Kofoid got comfortable in the lead, teammate McIntosh settled in the second spot. Mitchell Davis tracking down Daison Pursley for the third position, Davis closed in on the #9 Machine and ran him down to take over the third position. Davis rode around in third until he found himself upside down in turn four battling the treacherous cushion on lap seven.
Kofoid lead the field to green on the top side, and the top four follow behind with Jake Neuman the only car on the bottom. With a pair of cautions out on the track, Kofoid had to hold his own with his hard charging teammates and the dramatic track change halfway through the 30-lap main event.
Nailing all three laps on the final restart, Michael "Buddy" Kofoid drove untouchable to the checkered flag as he led all 30 laps to pick up the win on night one of the Illinois SPEED Weekend, and earned his fifth POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League victory of the 2020 race season.
"I didn't know how close they were behind me, but Jarrett kept telling me they were. We were too tight early in the race. It sucks getting into rubber when you are the leader, but I was able to find it and keep the lead. The surface all night was good, sucks it rubbered in the main." Stated first place finisher, Michael "Buddy" Kofoid.
"it was a really good race; we would get runs here and there and I just would fall apart and catch him again. There halfway through the race I felt the rubber when I moved down a little bit and I could catch him but anytime I would get a run on him I would get a really bad push." Second place finisher, Cannon McIntosh.
"Racing with my teammates Buddy Kofoid and Cannon McIntosh, it's always frustrating running third or second to them but you got to hold your head high cause they're the best midget racers in the nation right now." Stated Daison Pursley.
